Okay, so I just finished reading the new nikki reflection story, and All I got to say is.....

IT WAS SOOOOOO FREAKING CUTE!!!

atleast for me, and it also give us a bit of context regarding the player!ch and their connection with styling and beauty.

MAJOR SN SPOILERS (and a massive rant) AHEAD

Finally made it to the end of the anni4 lore and seriously.

WHY did they have to kill off Dodora of all people?

Seriously, she was the only most interesting among the envoys, she actually had something to give to the story, and Paper just kills her? Of all people?

And Paper didn't just stop at it - they twist the knife further by giving us her diary to read immediately after the story is over (complete with teardrops falling on it once you reach the last page)

Worst still: WHY IS MERCURY STILL ALIVE?

My utter hatred for him (as a person and as a character) notwithstanding, that was the only reasonable way to finish his story after all he's done, but then Paper just rewards him by letting him wander deeper into the Ocean of Memories? If someone should have died it should have been him - and I'm not even going on another rant about the reasons why, if you have half a braincell you know

All in all, you'll still see me here but only and exclusively only because I still enjoy the clothes and I'm still a massive bitch for Hestia and Lolory, because otherwise I'd be uninstalling.

[UPDATE] Speaking of Hestia, she showed up with her gf in the epilogue and it appears Mercury became a god?

I’m so behind on the main chapters--I’m only at chapter 7 so I don’t trust Qin Yi but that Grand Obsession though--Honestly, I’m pretty invested. I enjoyed the story a lot.

But more importantly, the end of it and that one [middle branch, left] ending being my first ending, I was like “Are--did we just possibly--IN A NIKKI GAME?”

I’m so confused, but I’m also onboard with it and that is such a weird feeling haha

But hot potato, those two endings on the right hand-side and some of his lines are OUCH and OH MY GOD NO. Especially considering we start out the story knowing we’re in another story.

It blew my mind so much that I ended up responding to some of the tagged posts

@auuwmk okay so. the content has been revised already and i'm getting this all secondhand from tweets so i may be missing some context. i am taking this information from the linked tweet threads please read it because it'll explain this better than i do

originally, kaizenix's base genre was 'romance fantasy'.

kim dokja was saying that yuri had been performing her role as a rofan protag by being the fiancee of the first prince, but then hsy came and escapes the genre by... making yuri become king (instead of the queen married to the king)? the thing is, there are female protagonists in rofans who do become king. yuri holding a position of power is not breaking out of the genre :/

then han sooyoung says the phrase 'a romance fantasy without romance won't be popular'. a romance fantasy without romance... is just fantasy. but.

it seems the romance fantasy genre in the first place was created due to male readers bitching about female leads having romance in a fantasy story, pushing the stories away into the romance genre and leading to the creation of the rofan genre to keep a distinction from other romances. but then there was a problem with 'romance fantasies without romance' still being labled as romance fantasy just because there's a female lead.

there's something to think about when there are so many fantasy stories with male protags having a romantic interest or even entire harems but the it isn't labeled romance. but when the protagonist is a woman...

there were revisions trying to fix the issues readers had, but eventually they just removed the romance part of kaizenix's original genre entirely (leaving it just as fantasy). they were very apologetic over this whole situation in the author's notes for the chapters this occured in [ep 72 (5) + (6)]
