Visited Omega Mart and wanted to take pictures of everything, but refrained. It's like Night Vale's grocery store.

@datdejvtho-blog you might want to check out Parselings!
Tumblr media
This is a game that uses a deck of cards for each player, and constructing your deck tells us something about your character's health and abilities. The only person that uses dice is the GM; everything the players do is resolved by their deck.
Substance-wise, you're playing a parasite-human hybrid, struggling to find a place in a world that seeks to reduce them to tropes or generalizations. There's a lot of themes around langauge and the power that words have over our reality.
There's a lot at play here, and the designer (Smunchy Games) has written a few supplements for Parselings for folks who want some setting and adventure guides. It might be worth checking out!

31 - Making a Mother Figure who Just Wants to Have Fun in Parselings
Tumblr media
Parselings by Smunchy Games is as in-depth of a system as the Literal Cat Crew can do alone without getting scared, apparently, but we did make it through! Listen as we work our way through a game where words are power and you are a spoiled house cat with a heart of gold! I mean, you will be if you take this character sheet.

This Month on the Literal Cat Podcast: (September 2023)
Tumblr media
Hey, guys! I know it's technically still August, but I'm busy tomorrow so we're doing this today. How to Make a Literal Cat in Your Favorite RPG is back to normal*! That's right, our first event has ended and we're back to releasing whatever we fee like!
*normal is relative
September 6, we did another lightning round! On this one we did Kids on Bikes, Teens in Space (Renegade Games), Web of Lies, Defense Engineers (@dnallohleoj), Tunnel Goons (Highland Paranormal Society), Bxllet (@rathayibacter), & Ghost Lines (John Harper). The idea was to look for some bigger-scale one-shots & small-scale full games, but a few true one-shots made it in.
Then, on September 20, we made a cat in Parselings by Smunchy Games! This has been a system I've been curious about for a long time and I'm glad we finally got around to it, even if it is one of the most involved systems we've seen since Dark Eye.
Also reminder that we're currently planning and recording our October releases, so if you know of a good horror game for us to cover, we need those recommendations. Some calls have gone out for guests but we're still looking!
