17.03.2024, Getting rid of winter and welcoming spring

I visited some friends and took part in a traditional spring ritual. This was my first time taking part and it was very interesting. Girls carry a dummy made of straw, adorned with cloth, ribbons and hollow egg necklace. The dummy is Smrtka (Death) or Morana (the Slavic goddess of winter and death), the girls are carrying her out of the town, singing the whole way. At the river they set her on fire and then throw her into the river (drown her). The winter is now over and spring comes. They go back to the town with blossoming twigs decorated with ribbon (letečko), bringing spring back with them.

What could a Morana alter be for?

She could have a few roles in the system depending on the programming and belief system.

Morana could be linked to infinity programming within the system. She could be a part of rites based on death and rebirth.

She can present as a young woman or an old woman.

Morana could be with straw puppets in the system as a part of this programming.

Morana could be with masked parts in the system.

Depending on the mapping of the system (if it is mapped) she could be placed near rivers and streams to prevent parts from leaving their area.

As a goddess Morana could be a part of the internal hierarchy and oversee punishing of parts by drowning or burning.

If she is a cult part she may front be more active on the following dates:

The second Sunday before Easter Spring equinox, usually March 20 or 21 17th and 18th of January

*In Czech, she is sometimes called Smrtka, a version of the word for death.

I think I just stumbled across something at least related to drowning Morana in my Great Grandparents home town. It was labeled “Smrtka” which google translated to grim reaper/banshee.

Já jsem se prostě nemohla nějak začíst. Na začátku jsem se ke čtení i přemlouvala a nechybělo málo a kniha by zůstala mezi odloženými. Ale nechtěla jsem to vzdávat. Hlavně kvůli tomu, že jsem chtěla vědět, co na té knize všichni mají. Proč ji téměř všichni zařadili do TOP knih za rok 2018?

No a nakonec, když jsem to teda nevzdala a pokračovala dál, jsem si oblíbila jednu postavu a potom už to čtení šlo trochu lépe. Jenže co se nestalo? To vám nemůžu říct, protože nechci spoilerovat, ale já byla v šoku. To jsem fakt nečekala. Pak už jsem četla jen kvůli tomu, že by to přece autor takhle nenechal.

Přibližně od poloviny mi kniha nedala spát a teď zpětně si říkám, že to vůbec nebyla špatná kniha. Jen mi trochu trvalo, než jsem se sžila s příběhem. Můžeme si přiznat, že má Smrtka originální námět a celkově se jen tak něco takového v knihkupectví nenajde.

Sice to není moje TOP kniha, ale i tak ji můžu doporučit, pokud hledáte něco originálního a neotřepaného. A pokud vás to na začátku nebude příliš bavit (jako mě), zkuste vytrvat a nepřestat. Něco na té Smrtce opravdu je. Jen na to každý přijde někde jinde. Někdo hned na začátku a jiný třeba až v polovině.
