1. Angela so vehemently defending Chapelle Roan is kind of... fruity
2. Loved Tommy's segment, I hope he is a regular on the show
3. Angela dying laughing in the background of every bit is just amazing
4. New Amanda character unlocked: another crazy woman slightly homoerotic woman
5. Maureen had me in fucking tears
6. NOT THE FUCKING BOTTOM T-SHIRT AHAHSHSHSHS
6. Shayne being Liam with absolutely no props is amazing
7. Everyone killed in the reunion, Arasha's Zayn was so accurate, Tommy was so funny, Amanda's Harry (with once again a homoerotic character) kinda reminded me of her Tinky Winky in the best way possible, Angela's OIOII and Shayne's breakdown with the mirror
8. I really really hope they do a second teletubbies reunion at some point
9. Overall, a really good show, although I thought there was going to be a bit more chatting, like maybe Tommy's segment was done with the hosts there as well yk
this new fans versus old fans discourse in the smosh fandom always irritates me because usually its from those people who can't get over their mostalgia and can't accept the fact that smosh isn't JUST ian and anthony anymore. people who can't get past the 2010s humor are mad cause smosh is evolving and embracing their comedy/improv persona and not just being a youtube content creator anymore. AND NOW... these backward thinking "fans" are trashing the upcoming series for the main channel because: its taking away the channel [again] from ianthony and [might] be the reason that they stop doing sketches anymore. FIRST OF ALL, everything that happens on those channels are a COMPANY decision, they are a business first and foremost, and everything is happening from a business point of view. SECOND, main channel can't survive with just the ianthony sketches alone, let's ve real – the sketches are a hit and miss situation, relying on JUST nostalgia to attract the attention of long time fans will possibly hurt them in the long run. THIRD, the new series is NOT an indicator that the sketches will be removed completely [unless that's the case and thet haven't said anything yet], its actually a good balance to satisfy fans who wants classic smosh and present smosh together.
with that said, let's hope that bit city will actually be a worthy watch. they are nearing their 20th year anniversary so im expecting more things to come.
also im sure angela with the slicked back hair and the oversized blazer was meant to give off the vibe of "kid who snuck into their dads office and is playing pretend with his jacket" but because im gay and angela remains stunning. the look still kind of works imo
I didn’t get to watching bit city until right now so I’ve had just a few minutes to think on this but here are my initial thoughts
Overall I loved it! It was funny, it was talk showy and I really liked how they’re having more slightly scripted content
the beginning was fun, it was a nice cold open and I liked it even if i think it should have been a little longer
hot goss was good but some part of it felt a little awkward like there were moments that should’ve been edited out and weren’t. plus it felt a little long . Whatever the part with Amanda’s character and Tommy was good. I liked it more than the rest of hot goss mostly because I don’t think I knew what was going on initially and didn’t realize the vibe of that segment
the nun bit was funny if a little long
the Jojo siwa cut in was really good and I think was a really good length (I was distracted while Angela was on screen, she looked so good!)
obviously the 1d reuinion was amazing, it was i think the largest part of the episode and for good reason, it was also my favorite part and kinda what i was looking forward too the whole time
the last bit was fine, it was a little short but i assume it will be a running bit as the end closer and i think will get better with time
So, did I like it? Yes! Absolutely! Do I think it could use some improvements, yeah. But it’s the same way the pilot of any show is, most of the time the first couple episodes aren’t as good as the rest of the show and I think it will continue to get better!
2 sketches, a monologue, a character piece, a reunion, and a co-host banter bit at the beginning/end. ok I'm happy! i thought the character piece & reunion could have been a little shorter, and i thought the beginning & end segments felt a little rushed.
angela and chanse didn't really do much "hosting" at all, just talked to each other about pop music and briefly introduced segments, which is fine. but in the future i hope we see a guest come to talk to them or a hosted segment or some other thing where angela gets to really bask in the powerful host energy, because it's something i didn't really see from her.
amanda, as The Character Improviser, was a PERFECT choice for the first character piece -- she seemed so fucking free and gleeful in a way i haven't seen from her, and i think the length of her bit did help her there -- and the 1D reunion was a good choice as well. tommy did an EXCELLENT job in everything he was in; he was the standout for me.
altogether i give it a 7.5/10, excited to see what the next episodes bring!!!
