Part Three
Later that night, I was laying in bed and scrolling through my Instagram feed when a facetime from Peyton came in. “Hey what’s up?” I said, sitting up and grabbing my glasses off the bedside table and switching on the lamp light. She didn’t say anything at first, and it was all I could do to not feel uncomfortable as she glared at me on the other side of the screen.
“When were you going to tell me that you met up with Julie after the show?” She finally asked. I frowned, trying to figure out how she knew what had happened after she had left in the taxi.
“Wait what?”
“Don’t wait what me, I saw the pictures, I know that you were talking to her after the show! I can’t believe you didn’t tell me to wait with you, y/n! I had so many questions to ask her about how she did the holograms and how she got into the Orpheum shows this weekend and you just let me leave without telling me you were waiting behind for her.” Peyton was visibly upset, but I was still stuck on the part where she said that she had seen the pictures.
“Okay one- slow down girl. I promise if that meet up was planned, I totally would have told you, you’re my nest friend. Two- what pictures are you talking about? The only other people around were people walking along the sidewalks of LA.” I questioned her, pushing my glasses back up further towards my face as they had started sliding down my face. Peyton’s anger seemed to ease up a little at the idea that I didn’t purposely meet up with Julie without her, and suddenly her screen was paused as she went off of the facetime.
“How was talking to Julie again though? Did you tell your parents you saw her? How’s she doing after losing her mom? I mean obviously pretty good because she’s a part of a band that’s growing a following by hundreds a day, but like that doesn’t mean she’s doing good, you know?” I smiled and rolled my eyes a bit at Peyton’s rambling, but settled back down in bed a bit more as I clicked off to go back to Instagram with Peyton still in the background.
“Peyton, I literally talked to her for like two minutes, and it was basically her just introducing me to the boys’ holograms. The boys did most of the talking during the first part of the encounter anyways- Julie didn’t show up until halfway through me already calling out the boys for being-“
“Wait, the boys were there too?! You talked to the three hottest males to roam the LA streets and DIDN’T TELL ME?!” Peyton cut me off. I clicked back into facetime, but she was still paused, presumed to be looking for the picture of me and Julie.
“Uhm yeah, they were right next to Julie and me the entire time. Julie had a portable hologram thing apparently, and the boys were interested in seeing LA. From what it sounds like the holograms work just like a video call? Who am I to question it though, I had never even witnessed hologram tech before her band.” I muttered, staring at my ceiling as I waited for Peyton to come back to the call.
“Uhm dude. There’s no boys in this picture.” Peyton replied. I frowned, looking back down towards my phone just in time to see a message from Peyton with an included picture attached. As I clicked over to the picture, sure enough. It seemed like someone had taken a snapchat picture of Julie and I and posted it on their story, the message of “the girl behind Julie and the Phantoms outside of the Orpheum!!!” with a  purple heart was posted at the bottom of the picture with an arrow pointing towards Julie.
But that wasn’t what had caught my attention. Sure enough, just as Peyton had said, there was no sign of the boys or even a hologram projector or phone in Julie’s hand that could have caused the boys to be seen. And yet, my focus wasn’t on Julie while I was looking at the picture- rather on the air where Reggie would have been but was nowhere to be seen. “Oh my god.”

A/N: Hey guys! Part three is getting to y/n starting to figure out something’s up with the boys, and therefore the start to the more interesting parts of this story. I wanted to try to make this longer for y’all, but its hard to post in segments without putting two full scenes into one post. Who knows we may start to move to full days instead of moments of a day. The posts may be fewer and farther in between but I don’t know we’ll have to see- its a work in progress! *laughs* I hope you guys enjoy this part! As always, let me know if you want to be added to the tag list for this fic for it’s future parts. Part four out soon! ~Jen

“What do you want me to say, no? Maybe your holograms were coming from backstage or something, I’m not one to ask questions. Just leave me alone, my uber is almost here.” I said, clicking my phone back on and off almost obsessively checking if what I said was true. It was the blonde kid’s turn to be flabbergasted, for whatever reason unknown.
“You really shouldn’t be able to see us.” He muttered. I deemed to not respond, seeming to frustrate the long haired one even more so as he took a step closer to me.
“Oh, JULIE! JULIE HEY!” He shouted, waving his hands and stepping around me. I was now getting upset, they are rudeness and loudness getting to be too much. I whirled to reprimand them once again for being loud and disrespectful, but the long haired boy was now talking to Julie, the young girl who was the lead singer of their band. Julie looked confused, glancing back and forth between the boy and someone who looked to be her father. Waving her father away, Julie started walking towards the band, and towards me.
“This girl can SEE us. And not only see us, hear us. Both. At the same time.” Julie’s eyebrows went up as we caught each other’s eye.
“Uhm, hey y/n! Long time no see!” Julie quipped. I smiled, hesitantly regarding her and the boys as I contemplated my response. I went to Hamilton High, a competing high school with Julie’s. While I wasn’t a music person as she was, Julie and I had talked a few times at sporting events against each other and when our mothers had been in the same community music program.
“Julie, I thought your band members were holograms.” I pointed out flatly. The blonde haired boy crossed his arms, looking at me quizzically. Julie chuckled awkwardly, rocking back on her heels.
“They are! I’m carrying around a portable hologram machine. They wanted to see the city for itself! They are not from here. Obviously. I mean, I totally would have had them here but its easier said than-“ The long haired boy cleared his throat as he glanced at Julie, who smiled awkwardly for a second before continuing, more controlled this time. “They’re still holograms. I thought I had their projection turned off though and just my camera on, which is why they were surprised you could see them. Uhm, so this is Luke, our electric guitarist-” the long hair one waved, “and this is Alex, our drummer-“ the blonde one nodded, “and last but not least this is Reggie- our bass player.” The last one smiled, winking at me again as he had on stage just hours before.
I nodded my head. I had always gotten along with Julie but being two years older than her and not as musically inclined we had never really seen eye to eye on how to go about our day to day lives. While a music program at a private school was her route, Hamilton was a normal public branch of the LA School Districts. I didn’t stand out, I wasn’t special- I was just me. And I was okay with that.
“Well, it was nice meeting you guys, even if you’re not actually here. Julie, tell your dad that I say hi and it’s been a while. Uhm, your performance was amazing, I can’t wait to see your guys’ rise to fame documented on social medias, and-“ I stopped as I felt my phone buzz in my hand. My uber was here, and I was just as ready to leave this awkward situation as this driver was probably ready to get out of LA Downtown Traffic. “Nice meeting you guys, enjoy the LA tour and uh, yeah. Bye!” I said as I turned around and opened my phone, checking the make and model of the car before I just embarrassed myself by walking to a stranger’s car.
“Delilah?” I asked as I climb into my uber’s back seat. “Yup, where to?” Short, to the point. Not bad. As I told her my address was typed in on the app, I looked back out to where Julie and the guys were standing. Julie and Luke seemed to be in a heated discussion, with Alex between them, but Reggie was the one that caught my last look as the car pulled away. He was staring after my car, watching as it drove around the corner and out of sight.

A/N: Hey guys, here’s part two! I’m loving writing about Y/N and what is going to happen between her and the band- especially her and Reggie. *insert heart eye emoji* As of right now, I don’t have an upload schedule right now, as being a college student I’m working around classes and assignments. But living in the US and with our current COVID situation, I don’t go many other places but college so I’m hoping to keep up pretty regularly.
I’m thinking about starting a tag list for accounts who want to keep up with this story, so let me know if you want to be included! ~Jen

Part One
“Wow” Peyton said as we walked out of the theater. “Not only did we get to finally see PANIC!, but we also got to experience that super cool hologram band that everyone has been raving about for the last month!” She exclaimed, throwing her purse back over her shoulder after grabbing out her phone. I smiled, looking down at my feet as I remember the wink the bass guitarist had thrown at me halfway through their opening set. “Oooo, someone’s blushing. You’re remembering that split second where you were the only fan in the room, huh?” Peyton continued joking with me. I rolled my eyes, shoving her lightly as we stopped at the corner to wait for a cab.
“Oh, shut it Peyton, you know that was just him being friendly with us in hopes we keep listening, all boys that are in bands tend to have that kind of personality.” I muttered.
“Okay, just because your last boyfriend was a complete asshole and didn’t think you were anything better than a late night ‘you still awake’ text does not mean that all boys are like that, y/n. But hey, if it makes you feel better, they are holograms. It’s not like you’ll ever see them here in person again, right?” Peyton retorted, finally flagging down a cab. She opened the door, sitting down as she looked back at me. “Be safe while you’re waiting- its Hollywood for crying out loud, and you never know how long the next cab is going to be.” I smiled and closed the door, patting the top of the car and letting the cab driver know he could drive off while I waited for the next one to stop.
“Hey okay you guys can’t blame me for wanting to make sure she’s fine- if she caught my eye in the crowd, I can’t imagine how many other guys would notice her!” A voice said behind me. I kept my eyes forward, scanning the streets for the next open cab.
“Reggie, I literally cannot believe you dragged our asses all the way out here just to spy on a cute girl from our show tonight- she can’t even hear you. Or see you, for that matter.” Another voice said. At this point, my interest was piqued. What the hell were they talking about back there? Nonetheless, I finally pulled out my phone, going to order an uber home and stop wasting my time on hoping a taxi would pull over.
“Shut up, Luke. Just because Julie can see you and hear you and physically touch you does not mean you get to brag about it at any time. Just for once I would like to be the one heard by someone who has the opportunity to mean someone to me.” The first voice spoke up again, softer this time. I clicked off my phone and sighed, holding on to my purse as I now awaited my uber, which was three minutes away.
“Reg, one day you’ll find someone who sees you the way Julie sees me and Willie sees Alex. I just don’t think it’ll be a brown haired human girl you winked at during our concerts.” Alright, that was it. They were talking about me, and while it could not be possible for holograms to stand behind me at a street intersection, somehow it was happening. I turned around and found myself staring at the three boys from the opening band I had seen just hours before. They were all staring back, but they blanched as I met all three of their eyes.
“Not that I don’t appreciate being talked about by an attractive teenaged boy band, my track record with people like you guys isn’t so hot, so I’d appreciate if you’d either approach me and discuss my safety or just leave me alone.” I quipped, spinning around again. My heart was hammering inside of my chest, something about seeing the boys I had just been obsessing over with my friend was making me so excited. But my mind was reminding me what had happened the last time I let myself get too close to a band member and… that wasn’t something I was willing to put myself through again.
“Woah, woah woah woah woah woah WAIT.” The long haired one moved in front of me, hands up in front of him. “You can SEE us?!”

A/N: Hey guys! So, this is my first ever tumblr post. I literally finished bingeing Julie and the Phantoms today after a friend recommended it to me and let me tell you, I am OBSESSED. The first thing I do after I love a show like this is listen to the soundtrack over and over again. Then follow the cast. Then go and look for fanfics, even if they’re small! It just keeps me in the love of the world. But I noticed there weren’t a whole ton yet, soooo I decided to write my own. We’ll have to see where this goes though. I’m excited. I hope you are too.
