Say hello to this sweet lil nonbinary birdie! So I saw a grey wagtail and I thought, since it’s pride month, what if wagtail but nonbeanie? I’m honestly so proud of this sweet little feathered friend, repping enby pride with their lovely plumage. This was so fun to paint, it makes me want to paint more birbs 💛🤍💜🖤

to greater heights :: open
send ↕ + your muse’s height for a comparison with mine
@shearubik sent: ↕ i know they haven't interacted (yet?) but seeing dogi's height, it would amuse me greatly if you put kafka next to him (she's 149cm)

"Huh? What was that..? Strange. Could've sworn I heard... someone go by..." Passive perception isn't doing the shark many favors. And the Liberi is able to make their deft dip dodging dash without any hiccups in their plan. Not that the Aegir would've been inclined to stop or otherwise impede them.

"Guess it was my imagination... 'course why would I imagine ... eh, whatever!" Unbothered, back into his lane, searching for fun and food.

The Pūteketeke: New Zealand's Bird of the Century.
The votes are in, and after two bruising weeks of voting in New Zealand's Bird of the Century, we have a new champion. It carries its young on its back, which is very cute. It enjoys grunting, growling, and barking, as one does. It possesses an elaborate set of mating rituals, including "the weed dance" and "the ghostly penguin," which is great. It has a colorful mullet—j'adore le style. It has a propensity for vomiting. It is, in other words, a worthy champion. Its name is the Australasian crested grebe, otherwise known as the pūteketeke, and we think you're gonna get on just *great*.

If you want to do your bit to help these beautiful creatures, Forest & Bird ask bird enthusiasts to donate an old predator trap through Give a Trap, or add your voice to their collective call-to-action for birds in New Zealand. You can support Forest & Bird directly right here. In the meantime, we have gathered, for your viewing pleasure, a carefully-curated selection of content in tribute to the top five contenders from the #bird of the century election. Every last one a winner.
Live, love, laugh. Grunt, dance, puke x

Female hummingbird. A male has been coming for about a week (males arrive early to establish territories, females arrive later when food sources are more reliable) but only when it's dark, way before sunrise or well after sunset. This is the first female I've seen this season and this was early morning too but with just enough light for my camera. Welcome back, smol friend!
