protecting/clearing your energy:
, visualize. imagine a ball of light in the center of your chest, and watch it grow each time you exhale.
, clear the field. now split that light ball into two separate balls of light. hold them in the palm of your hands, and with them you will wipe away all of what holds you down.
, smoke cleansing. using herb, barks, or resin. allow the smoke to wash over your entire body for however long you feel is necessary.
, grounding cord. imagine a luminous string that runs all the way from your head, to your toes, and into the ground below you.
, baths. using sea/epson salt, clay, and/or herbs and make a healing bath for you to soak in.
, light candles. whatever color you have to spare, or what’s best is for the color to correspond with the energy you’re trying to call in.
, make an altar. create a space with images, symbols, colors whatever reminds you of peace and love. make sure to include things that bring you joy, or that maybe have a memory or some sort of symbolic connection.
, de-cording. locate the emotion, person, or place that feels stuck. now imagine a cord tethering you to that stuck thing, and simply cut it with your fingers or just imagine it falling or ceasing to exist.

i don't understand why people who complain about not being able to use white sage don't just grow their own. regular green sage is like $6 for a sprout at bunnings. yeah it takes ages to dry. sometimes you have to wait for things to happen. live with the earth's cycles and shit. native ppl have told you time and time again that current white sage harvesting practices are unsustainable because of overharvesting. you're so connected with the earth? then you should know when to listen to her and adjust your practices accordingly.

Please read. I've seen so many witchy creators using this term inappropriate lately and it feels as if I'm talking to a wall. PLEASE research everything you see when people are attempting to teach you stuff on the internet. You can be a witch & do practices while still being respectful of others.

Charging & enchanting Jewelry
This is something I recently began doing when I decided to begin my journey to becoming my Highest Version. So get whatever jewelry you have and wear, I use rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets (can be those cute friendship ones) and I just smoke cleanse it. I'm not picky on the incense, I use traditional ones from my religion, I use eucalyptus. Anything really. Smoke cleanse it and find a dish or a plate or anything to keep it on. I have repurposed an ashtray that I cleaned and cleansed. then after that, I get each jewelry one by one, place it on the palm of my hand and cover it my other hand. I visualize and think on what I want to charge and enchant this jewelry with. In my case, I charged it with confidence and beauty, the feeling of confidence and the feeling you get when someone compliments you. I charged it and visualized that energy surrounding and coating the jewelry. Do this one by one you're done.
The dish I place on my altar and every evening after a day of using my jewelry, I place it back in there to recharge. And when I tell you this works! I've gotten such a confidence boost. I used to be terrified of telling restaurant waiters to cancel orders or that they got my order wrong (simple things but effective), I used to have horrible social anxiety. But once I began charging my jewelry, I was able to speak out, speak in public. I actually impulsively decided to enter a poetry contest without realizing that I had to read it out loud to the judges. I was terrified but I managed to do it! The giddiness that rushes in you after doing something you never you thought you could is amazing!

Cleansing Your Space: A Witch’s Guide⛦
Creating a cleansed and energetically aligned space is a foundational practice in witchcraft. Whether you’re setting up for a ritual, moving into a new home, or just feeling a bit off, cleansing can bring balance and positivity back into your surroundings. Here are my top five methods for cleansing your space, along with some practical tips to make the process your own.
Smoke Cleansing ༄
Burn herbs like rosemary, lavender, or ethically sourced sage to clear away stagnant energy. Allow the smoke to drift into corners, over thresholds, and around windows. Be sure to open a window or door to let the energy flow out, and always use a fire-safe dish or shell.
Sound Cleansing ✮
Use bells, chimes, or even clapping to break up dense or heavy energy. Walk through your space while ringing a bell or clapping sharply to disperse negativity. Focus on areas that feel heavy or overlooked.
Salt and Water 🌊
Combine water and a pinch of salt to create a simple, powerful cleansing solution. Use it to wipe down surfaces, doorframes, or even the floor. If you’re feeling adventurous, add a few drops of essential oil like lemon or eucalyptus for an extra boost.
Visualization ✴
Your mind is a powerful tool. Close your eyes and imagine a bright, radiant light filling your space, sweeping through every corner, dissolving negativity, and leaving behind vibrant energy. You can also visualize protective barriers forming around your space once it’s cleansed.
Protective Tools and Enhancements 🏵
You can also use some tools to elevate any cleansing you may choose:
⟡ Crystals: Place black tourmaline, selenite, or clear quartz in key spots around your home to absorb, block, and neutralize negativity. These can be especially effective near entryways, windows, or high-traffic areas.
⟡ Herbs: Incorporate protective herbs like basil, bay leaves, rosemary, or lavender. These can be displayed in charm bags, brewed into a cleansing spray, or even burned in a fire-safe dish (like a bay leaf) to purify the energy of a space.
⟡ Sigils: Draw protective sigils or symbols on doorframes, windowsills, or even underneath rugs. This adds a subtle yet powerful energetic barrier against negative influences.
These tools can be used in combination with the methods mentioned earlier, enhancing both the intention and effectiveness of your cleansing rituals.
Seasonal Cleansing ☂
The changing of the seasons is a natural time for renewal and transformation. Each season carries its own energy, and cleansing during these shifts helps realign your space with the current natural cycle.
❀ Spring: Use this time to cleanse your space of stagnation and make room for new growth. Bring in fresh flowers or herbs, open windows, and focus on light, airy cleansing methods like smoke or sound.
🍂 Autumn: This is a great time for protection and banishing work. As the year wanes, clear out energy that no longer serves you, and set intentions for the winter ahead.
❄️ Summer and Winter 🔆: During the warmer and colder months, focus on balance, keeping your space calm and free from external or internal stressors. This is the time to focus on maintaining peace.
Final Sealing Ritual ⟢
Once your space has been cleansed, it's essential to seal in the new energy you've brought in. A sealing ritual helps ensure the space stays protected and the energy remains positive.
⟢ Simple Seal: Light a white candle and visualize a protective light surrounding your space. As the candle burns, say something like, "This space is cleansed and sealed in light, protection, and peace."
⟢ Elemental Seal: You can also incorporate the elements to seal your work. For example, sprinkle salt around your space (earth), use incense smoke to bless corners (air), or pour a small bowl of water in each corner (water), and then finish with a fire-based blessing or candle (fire).
⟢ Energetic Seal: As you close the ritual, take a deep breath, and visualize your space being surrounded by a shield of protective energy. Seal it with a word of power or intention.
☪︎ Cleansing your space isn’t just about physical cleanliness, it’s about creating a space that aligns with your energy, your intentions, and the work you’re doing. Whether you're clearing out stagnant energy after a rough day or preparing for a ritual, these practices allow you to intentionally shift the atmosphere to one that supports your highest good.
Remember, the tools and methods you choose are personal. The more you work with them, the more you’ll intuitively know what resonates best with you. So, don’t be afraid to experiment, trust your instincts, and make space cleansing a sacred ritual in your practice. It’s all about creating an environment where your magic can thrive!
If you have any favorite cleansing methods or rituals that you swear by, feel free to share them in the comments below, I’d love to hear how you set your space up for success!

Hey there, fellow witches-in-training! Ready to learn how to fortify your energetic boundaries and protect yourself from unwanted vibes? Let's dive into the magical world of warding and shielding—essential skills for any budding practitioner. Here's the lowdown:
🌿 What is Warding?
Warding is like setting up a magical barrier around yourself or your space to keep out negative energy, entities, or influences. It's your personal energetic security system, designed to maintain harmony and protect against psychic intruders.
🔮 How to Ward:
Clear Your Space: Before warding, it's essential to cleanse your space of any lingering negativity. You can do this through smoke cleansing with herbs, sprinkling salt, or using sound vibrations with bells or singing bowls.
Set Your Intention: Decide what you want your wards to accomplish. Are you focusing on protection, privacy, or something else? Be clear and specific about your intentions.
Create Your Warding Tools: This can include crystals, charms, sigils, or even visualization techniques. Choose whatever resonates with you and feels most empowering.
Activate Your Wards: Place your chosen tools around your space or carry them with you as needed. Visualize a protective barrier forming around you, reinforcing your intention with each breath.
Reinforce Regularly: Warding isn't a one-and-done deal—it requires regular maintenance and reinforcement. Check in with your wards periodically and adjust them as needed.
🛡️ What is Shielding?
Shielding is like putting on a magical suit of armor to deflect negative energy and psychic attacks. It's all about strengthening your energetic boundaries and maintaining your inner peace amidst external chaos.
🌟 How to Shield:
Ground Yourself: Connect with the earth's energy by visualizing roots growing from your feet into the ground below. This helps you stay rooted and centered in your power.
Visualize Your Shield: Imagine a bubble or aura of protective light surrounding you, extending several feet in all directions. Envision it as impenetrable and invincible, repelling negativity like water off a duck's back.
Set Your Boundaries: Intend for your shield to only allow in positive energy while blocking out anything harmful or intrusive.
Maintain Awareness: Stay mindful of your shield throughout the day, especially in situations where you feel vulnerable or overwhelmed. Adjust its strength and size as needed to suit your surroundings.
Keep in mind, both warding and shielding are highly personal practices, so feel free to experiment and find what works best for you. Trust your intuition, stay grounded, and know that you have the power to create and maintain your own sacred space. Stay magical, my friends! 🌌✨

White sage
Contrary to popular belief, white sage, or even sage in general, was not used by every tribe. White sage has developed into the go-to "smoke cleansing" plant. However, this has led to a number of problems.
For the Muscogee tribe Sage as a plant was not commonly used. Cedar, Tobacco, and Ginseng were more commonly smoke cleansing plants. The word for Sage that I was told was "Vpvketv" which also means to add something. White sage would be "Vpvketv hvtke".
Today, white sage is commonly used to smudge. Packages can be purchased with a shell, feather, and a sage bundle to burn. Smudging, in the sense of using a shell to burn in and a feather to guide the smoke, was mostly a Dakota and Ho-chunk practice from what I know. With white sage specifically being native to lower modern-day California. The Cahuilla and Kumeyaay tribes are two who often use this plant. Smudging and white sage have both been taken up as practices among modern witches, pagan, Wiccan, and other spiritual groups. However, to anyone doing the practice, I highly recommend caution in continuing.
The modern practices of white sage harvesting are often harmful. The practices often leave the local environment poorly cared for. The plant is overly harvested by people generally paid very little and often with no consideration to the local communities that normally use the plant. The over harvesting has led to fears that the plant may go extinct if proper growing and harvesting techniques are not taken into consideration.
Another important aspect to consider is the spiritual aspect as well. If you are using white sage to purify the air, I would assume the hope is to clear away negative spirits or energies. I can not speak for all communities that smoke cleanse, but when smoke cleansing, you should use plants you were gifted or gather yourself. The intention when the plant is harvested affects whether or not it will clear away bad things. If you harvest it yourself thinking of how grateful you are for the plant, it will clean. If your friend harvests it thinking of how this will hopefully help someone, it will clean. If the person harvesting your plant is mistreated, in bad conditions, over harvesting a plant just to be underpaid. I feel like that may do the opposite of cleanse.
All around, it's just not a good idea. Be very mindful of who your practices come from and who your items come from. Look for answers online as to whether those communities welcome outside practicer or if your version of their practice is actually harming their ability to continue it.
I've heard debate on whether it's okay to purchase white sage from indigenous farmers. I would say if you're going to purchase it, that would be the best. I'm sure there are many indigenous people who sell it.
Be mindful of your practices. They could be harming you and other people.

SMOKE CLEANSING 🍃
Part 2 of the cleansing series!
Tumblr media
First of all, some herbs, rituals & pratices are considered closed practices. This means that practionners outside from the ethnic & spiritual background in which these rituals are usually performed should not try to recreate them. This allows the communities from which those practices stem from to regain the respect & the rights they deserve since, most of the time, those people & their culture were forcefully assimilated or forbidden to practice at some point.
What I understand from the concept of closed practices comes from articles such as the ones below. I'm putting this message here since the most relevent example of spiritual cultural appropriation is currently smudging & the burning of white sage.
The Ethics Of Burning Sage, Explained by Nylah Burton & Jay Polish
Witches urge alternatives to sage amid concern about appropriation, overharvesting by Emily McFarlan Miller
Tumblr media
On top of the cutural aspect of smoke cleansing, the enviromental aspect is also important. Cleansing ingredients, just like any natural ingredients, are a gift from the Earth & should be used with gratitude. To me, the best way to cleanse would be with herbs grown locally & ethically. Encouraging local businesses is also so rewarding! Some herbs can also be grown in your own home! 🪴🌱
Smoke cleansing is not my favourite. Finding local herbs is not that hard, but some other processes are much more simple or fun like making cleansing potions.
A few things I personally think are good for smoke cleansing are:
Rosemary - purifying, protection & love
Bay leaves - prosperity & healing
Thyme - healing, protecting & purifying
Cinnamon - abundance & protection
Local incense sticks*
Hope this helps a little bit. Remember, it doesn't need to be too exotic or complicated to work. Grocery stores are a valid place to shop. ☀️
Tip me, if you feel so inclined
*I used to have an esoteric shop in my city that made their own incense sticks. Those were very nice, but sadly they closed down. I still have a few.

Smoke Cleansing Alternatives
● Wand cleansing
● Singing
● Cleansing/Protection sigils
● Cleaning the home
● Simmer pot
Smoke isn't the only way! I personally like to use a combo of actually cleaning and one or two other cleansing methods. There are many ways to do it without using smoke. These are just a few suggestions. Please remember that everyone can practice magic even if they have no money. So long as we are careful and respect other cultures while we do it. I want to help new witches and make witchcraft more accessible to others. I will never gate keep a person just because their broke
