He began to understand, based on his own experience, that being a Christian meant waging a constant and merciless battle against evil and death in one's own heart, a battle with no front lines or cease-fires, in which the enemy neither sleeps nor tires.

Thinking about my own OCS too hard makes me nauseous. Smiljan's storm/storm chasers as a whole is based heavily on my own experience in losing multiple close family members within basically weeks of each other and different reactions to loss. One of my childhood pets also died of cancer that year which was devastating at the time but kinda funny now in the timing of it

day 1 of 30 - first meeting
04.07.2006 - the first (known) meeting of Rakitić and Modrić in the match between FC Basel and Dinamo Zagreb.
The scoreline of the friendly match ended up being a draw 2-2, with Vugrinec and Da Silva scoring in the first half and (comedically) with Petrić and Rakitić scoring in the second half to even the game.
Both Petrić and Rakitić started their international careers in the Switzerland team, with the first joining Croatia in 2002 and the latter in 2007. Though it hasn’t been said, I like to think Raketa’s decision to join the vatreni was partially influenced by this match :-)
An overview of the match, according to this FCB forum: After the match, the 18-year-old Rakitic was enrounded by Croatian supporters and journalists. On one hand, because the Croatian-Swiss double citizen was the man of the match with a goal and an assist. On the other hand, because the Croatian NT leaders compete for the services of the midfielder. "But I won't let myself be pushed," said the Swiss U19 national player Rakitic. Because the joy of his first goal for the FCB prevailed with him. "First, I want to assert myself at the FCB."
Assert himself he did, receiving the Swiss Goal of the Year award for his goal against St. Gallen three months after this meeting. Before joining Schalke in 2007, he had already scored 20 goals in his proffesional career, but more on that on another time.

what do you want done with your remains when you die?
I always said "Bury me in Mirogoj or near Smiljan, if neither of those are available just throw me to dogs." *shrugs, opening drawers and looking through them* I guess last one happen.

In 1978 Fr. Thaddeus told G., one of his spiritual daughters, of another vision he had seen in a dream. "I had barely fallen asleep when I dreamt that I had died. Two young men led me into a room and had me stand on some sort of platform between them. To my right were the judges. Someone in the far left corner of the room was reading the charges against me. "That's him! That's the one who cannot get along with anyone!" I stood there dumbfounded. The voice repeated the same accusation two more times. Then the young man standing on my right said to me, 'Do not be afraid! It is not true that you cannot get along with anyone. You just cannot get along with yourself!'" At that moment the words of St. Isaac the Syrian that Fr. Thaddeus had repeated countless times to himself and to his spiritual children became his sole path to salvation: "Make peace with yourself, and both heaven and earth will make peace with you."
