Those Other Flowers Don’t Belong

Sometimes, you don’t need a group of friends. You don’t need to rely on leading a community. You don’t need to spend your days earning the forgiveness of those you don’t live for or love. You can just be alone with your own thoughts.

Sometimes, it could just be you, alone in the peaceful lavender field cutting off any unwelcome flowers that dare to stomp on the lavender.

They have their Safe Haven, why can’t you have yours?

Personally, one of my favorite drawings with Theodore Grambell. He’s in a Lavender field holding Dogday’s head on his right hand and a pair of flower cutters(not sure about the specific name) in his left.

I did some googling and lavenders tend to represent calmness, silence, and devotion which is very fitting for Catnap and I think it would be very fitting for Theodore. Theodore was described to be similar to Quinn, anti-social and not having any friends. This passes over to Catnap where he’s seen to just roam around and not interacting with anyone, not even the other toys.

I always thought of him with flower cutters because since all the Smiling Critters have scents relating to flowers, it would be fitting for Theodore, often believed to have killed the other Smiling Critters, to cut away at those flowers he doesn’t want in his home. There used to be eight flowers, now it’s just lavenders…besides the sunflower he is holding onto.

He strikes me as a character who always prefers to be alone. He’s not actively hostile to anyone unless provoked(or possibly to heretics) and as long as he has his Lord and Savior to look up to, he’s content. I wouldn’t be surprised if he found some level of peacefulness being alone.

do you guys remember that one episode of smiling critters where they introduced the token human character and they have a bunch of fun adventures with them learning about friendship

(been thinking about a what-if scenario where the dreams the player has while knocked out on red smoke are like snippets of the cartoon, and the problems they help the critters solve in the dreams relate to puzzles and lore in real life)
