do you guys remember that one episode of smiling critters where they introduced the token human character and they have a bunch of fun adventures with them learning about friendship

(been thinking about a what-if scenario where the dreams the player has while knocked out on red smoke are like snippets of the cartoon, and the problems they help the critters solve in the dreams relate to puzzles and lore in real life)

The Smiling Critters (In my style)

If you thought I wouldn’t fixate on these adorable little monsters you’re dead wrong.

I decided to draw them all in my personal cartoon style which gives off this more 90s-2000s reboot appearance which a lot of my followers on tiktok like! I probably am gonna draw more of these too

I wish we could save Dogday and I love the art involving The player/Us saving him but let’s be real here.

Why was Dogday still alive?

Spoiler alert!!!

When the player finds Dogday, he points out that he is the last of the smiling critters alive. But why?

There are two theories: 1. They kept him alive so that he could see his companions die and make him suffer. 2. Catnap became attached to him and that's why he kept him alive.

The little we know is that Catnap at first did not live with Dogday when he met him, but over time Dogday became his friend, and this is demonstrated by the photo that Dogday has in his house, just as in his cartoon Dogday plays with Catnap.

When the chaos began, Dogday and his companions tried to stop the "prototype" for being the cause of this. While the other creatures pointed out Catnap as being evil, Dogday felt that Catnap was only that way because he was controlled by the "prototype."

Everyone knew the story of how Catnap was saved by the "prototype". Dogday understood his admiration but knew it wasn't right and tried to stop him.

Catnap had to kill his companions for rebelling against their hero. Dogday was captured and tortured. Because he was the leader he deserved to die but Catnap kept him alive because he considered him his friend. Since we can notice that he is wearing a kind of belt to stop the bleeding.

Catnap was probably visiting Dogday to try to convince him to join them but he refused. Despite this, Dogday believed that if they defeated the "Prototype", he would win back his old friend.
