World Photography Day 2021

Today, we’re celebrating all things photography in the studio. In this post, we’re going to be sharing some top tips for getting the best shots, which camera is rated best for beginners and much more!

Which is the best digital camera for beginners? 

According to Digital Camera World the best camera to go for if it’s your first time trying out your photography is the Nikon D3500. Why is this? An easy to use and understand DSLR can seem tricky to come by, not to mention the huge price tags. This is where the Nikon steps in. With a super easy to use ‘guide’ for shooting modes and a super clear LCD screen AND a reasonable price point too, this is what shot it to the top of the list!

Which smartphone has the best camera?

It’s quite clear that there is an outright winner to this... the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has absolutely stolen the show with it’s camera quality. With a 108MP f/1.8 main snapper, a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide one, both of which are 10MP and up to 10x optical zoom, this is almost unheard of on smartphones. Obviously, with a high end phone, comes a high end price. So, if you’re looking for a great camera on your smartphone with a smaller price tag. The iPhone 8 is often a regular winner at various photography competitions. Two fantastic options! 

Which is the best film camera to buy?

Back over to Digital Camera World for this one! They’re rating the Canon AE-1 as their top film camera in 2021. A 35mm film originally from the 70s which is also great for beginners in film photography. The plastic construction of this camera kept the price tag reasonable and runs on battery power. So if you’re looking to try something new with your photography or just enjoy that ‘vintage’ style, this could be a great pick for you! You can usually find these camera’s on eBay, so be sure to shop wisely.

Products aside... where is the best place to go for learning the skills more professionally?

Skillshare is a great site to browse classes, speak to industry experts & learn the skills you need to be top of your game (with anything.... really). However, we’re talking photography... with a months free trial, you can take online courses & classes in all kinda of photography styles taught by experts, from DSLR to iPhone to simply taking your Instagram pics to the next level. Take part in projects or just listen & take notes, there’ll be something here for you! Best creative gadgets for photographers?

We’ve looked for some fun, creative gadgets that you definitely don’t need, but we’re pretty certain that you’ll want. Let’s get this list started...

1. Super Secret Spy Lens - Made for SLRs, this lens is designed to shoot in any direction. Using a mirror and a hole in the lens, you can twist and turn the lens to aim the shot in whichever direction you want to. 

2. The Level Camera Cube - Able to slide right onto your cameras hot shoe on the top, this small cube, also a spirit level, you can adjust your shot to be perfectly straight in seconds! 

3. Open Camera Bag - It’s annoying when you have to keep getting your camera in and out of its bag isn’t it? Not anymore! This smart little bag allows your camera to keep safe and out of danger, but allows you to take photos without the need of getting it out of the bag! Genius!
