I did it y’all ! 🙌🙌 • Very proud of myself and my body tolerating the nasty barium drink for a small bowel series today. Started off rough, had a mortifying experience having to wait in a waiting room in full hospital gown, no shoes, and no bra while the rest of the people in there were fully clothed. 😔 Caught myself getting very upset when drinking the first cup of chalk. But remembered I’m doing this to get answers so I can get better! • The solution passed through from mouth to butt in about 30-45 mins, so pretty quick... not sure what to make of that but we’ll see what my GI says later on. 🤷🏻‍♀️ • Thank you to everyone who reaches out and encourages me. Small Bowel Series 🔍 • I have a love hate relationship with this test.💔 Love, because after over a year of seeing a bunch of crappy doctors - this was the test that diagnosed me over six years ago! The test that started a journey to actually understanding why I felt the way I did and not being told it was in my head anymore! ❤️ Hate, because I hate most medical procedures and appointments and this one generally makes me feel sick or actually sick. 🙅🏻‍♀️ • For my non IBD followers, a small bowel series is an X-ray series where they take x-rays every half hour after you drink this LOVELY 🤢 drink that lights up your intestines so they can see how things are moving through your digestive tract. 💩 • I am having this test to see if my Crohn’s disease decided to move further up my small bowel rather than just in my ileocecal area I had removed. Since I have stricturing disease, they want to be sure before I do a pill cam that I’ll be able to pass it with no problems.
