Thoughts
I know I've created less art over the last few years due to personal reasons. That's not necessarily bad, but it's one of the things that always slightly bothers me because I'm scared I will unlearn things. Then again, over time, my style has changed, and I don't even know what I want to produce right now, or how I want it to look. That's one thought.
The other thought, I've done a few artworks this year that I haven't even posted on here. I'm aware that it shouldn't be like this, but what stopped me is actually being afraid of not receiving at least a few notes. Like it dropped down to less than 20 and it's very disheartening. I just feel like I don't want my art to be judged like that?
I don't know if those two thoughts are connected, they probably are somehow. Did anyone experience the same lately?

Hi so is it okay to read novels and start from lust arc, then gluttony arc ect. Instead of reading pride arc novels first? Because my friend wants to read the novels but the time line is confusing for her and I know know in which order I should tell her to read the novels because I don't want her to get even more confused than she already is.
It's "okay" in the sense that this is a fictional series meant to be enjoyed casually and no one should be shamed about their choices regarding how they consume it (even if I do think it leads to a lesser reading experience), but if your intention is specifically to make the series less confusing then I personally think you're going about it the wrong way.
Issues with the timeline aside, Evillious as a series has a lot of concepts and worldbuilding to learn. Who certain characters are, how magic works, how demons work, the nature of the world, its countries, etc. The Daughter of Evil series (the Pride novels) introduces these concepts gradually. The plot of Cloture of Yellow can be easily described as "Fantasy French Revolution with some magic elements on the side"; the demons are barely even mentioned in them. It's mostly a political and character drama. Wiegenlied of Green, being an alternate perspective of Cloture, is able to explore more of the worldbuilding and fantasy concepts while still having the familiar setting and characters (and mostly being a romance, besides). Praeludium and Praefacio are then able to take the same setting and characters in a new direction that introduces yet more mechanics and character development for the bigger players in Evillious overall (like Elluka and Irina, the demons, etc).
The Lust novel then assumes you are already familiar with these concepts and just drops you immediately into how HER works, demonic contracts, etc.
To put it another way--the Pride novels prime you for the rest of Evillious. You build upon the foundation of your knowledge as you go. Like, I'm not going to judge someone who skips them because they find them boring or just aren't interested but I personally don't find "this book is a prequel to X" to be so difficult a concept that it's worth going out of order.

Oh yeah I think it happens during the cd drama vampire summer vacation #3 the one where they go to the indoor water part.
Mahiru asks where the rest of team M is and Tsubaki said something like "Oh I see you were hoping for Otogiri in her swimsuit, how perverted. We've gotta keep Otogiri away from beastly highschoolers like Mahimahi here."
YEAHHH THERE IT IS!!! And of any other teenager, Mahiru'd probably be the most normal about it. That is if he can get a word in first.
The group gets approched by Otogiri, Mahiru only just looks at her and opens his mouth in a greeting but Tsubaki and Belkia are already clutching their pearls.
Tsubaki: Shirota! You're oggling her in broad daylight?! Have you no shame?!
Belkia: That wild look in his eyes...! The glare of a beastly young boy...!?
Sakuya: Mahiru?!
Higan: How perverted.
Shamrock, shaking his head: How unbecoming.
Kuro: Wow, Mahi. You have some balls doing that here.
Mahiru: I DIDN'T EVEN DO ANYTHING!!??
Also these two also fall victim to the only instance of the "guy falling face-first into girl's boobs" trope in Servamp. Mahiru didn't even register what happened, he only knew "something soft" broke his fall.
And Oto looked extremely unbothered by it. Proceeded to put Tsubaki on speakerphone so Mahiru could talk to him on the phone.

No, Raphael. I don't "believe" that...
I know it.

And I am 100% positive that Mammon, Leviathan, and Lucifer feel the same way about Satan.
Mammon loves his brothers. That's a fact. There's literally no way in Hell Mammon will leave his little brother behind.
Levi definitely wouldn't abandon the one person who allowed Henry to shed his skin in peace! In all seriousness, Levi sees Satan differently now, in a positive way. Levi was even the first to think about Satan when Raphael first proposed the offer to return to the Celestial Realm.... so yeah, Levi definitely won't leave him behind.
And Lucifer loves his brothers too. Lucifer will always look out for them, defend them, and do whatever he can to keep them happy, safe, and together.
Satan will NOT be an exception. Satan is a member of the family. Satan will never be excluded or forgotten. The brothers will never abandon Satan.
And when all is said and done... I hope Satan will realize just how important he is to everyone, how much his brothers love him, and that he genuinely is one of them and belongs with them.

ep 38-42 of fma 03 has very obvious budget and time issues to the point of silliness at times and yet it might be one of the strongest and thematically focused span of anime episodes ive seen since fucking utena

has anyone else noticed the potential in the inherent toxicity in Sloth and Smith
Smith, who puts a lot of self-worth on his diligence and his ability to work, but is extremely susceptible to his vices;
And Sloth, a husk of someone Smith knew, someone Smith enjoyed the company of, someone who manipulates others with the temptation of spending the whole afternoon asleep, relaxing in the sun, and ignoring the alarms and phone calls.
After all, Smith can't remember the last time he slept in! It feels great to not have a constant worry on his shoulders! Who cares if people haven't been able to get ahold of him for a few days, or if the farm is starting to fall apart without him, or that his brother and sister are struggling suddenly without Smith’s help?
What bad could one more hour snoozing do?
can anyone hear me

Lego, hey Lego- what’s with the animal associations in Dreamzzz lately? Like, most of the main cast now has specific animals associated with them:
Izzie - Bunny
Logan - Panda
Zoey - Cat
Cooper - Tiger
Is this going somewhere?? Lego??

i've been doing a bunch of tartarus runs in reload lately, and it got me thinking about how i miss certain ways FES's clunky gameplay can characterize minato… (ramble about the great clock mechanic + leveling up party members in reload vs fes under the cut)
when i got to yabbashah block in tartarus (block 3), i remember commending the developers for adding the great clock mechanic. it's a much more convenient way to keep party members at the protagonist's level- so when you think about p3 from the perspective of trying to make it easier for people to play, the mechanic succeeds in this respect.
but now that i'm in adamah block, and that i've done lots of my once-a-month tartarus runs… i think that i got a little too dependent on it, and the way that i played through reload feels like a vastly different experience from how i played FES.
in reload, my party's levels are very lopsided. minato, yukari, akihiko, mitsuru, and fuuka are all level 90+, meanwhile junpei and aigis are at level 79, and then… poor ken and koromaru are at 71 and 64 respectively. (i never got to have a great clock for them…)
meanwhile, in FES, my party's levels were much more evenly distributed and were at least level 90. i did all of this manually for every monthly tartarus run because i enjoyed having options available for the taratarus guardians and monthly operations.
with how i perceive minato, i feel that the way i played FES feels more in-line with his character than me dawdling around waiting for the great clocks in reload.
FES's gameplay loop left me with the very strong impression that minato has to work twice as hard as everyone else in SEES does. it makes sense because, yeah, he's the leader, but something about having minato run through tartarus multiple times with different groups of people just to make sure that they are adequately prepared speaks volumes about his character, to me.
and while the tired mechanic is present in reload to some degree, most notably with allowing you to freely raise your courage stat when you visit edogawa after school… the tiredness system doesn't hit the same way that FES does, i think.
the way your party members in FES will call it quits when they return to the entrance floor at tartarus when they're tired, versus minato, in spite of all his tiredness and sickness, still pushes through tartarus because it's his responsibility…. idk!!! i miss that! i feel like this really hammers home the difference between minato and the rest of SEES, how minato doesn't really see himself as a human with needs worth respecting as long as he's useful to someone.
i don't think that tartarus being tedious (in FES especially) is not what most people would describe as fun, and i can respect people thinking it's a slog. but, regardless of how it feels to play, it doesn't change that FES's gameplay loop is a fundamental building block in how i perceive minato…
of course, i do recognize that you can just opt to NOT use the great clock in reload (and it's great when players are offered the choice to not partake in mechanics)! i definitely think that if someone really wanted to, they could manually level up party members, but i do feel that kind of playstyle isn't necessarily "incentivized" to the type of people who are into playing games for Having a Good Time. it's kind of like… "why would you do that when there's a much more convenient option available to you."
in any case! despite my woes, i do want to emphasize that i'm glad that reload has a much more smoother gameplay loop than the original P3 did, because it does make the game more accessible to people. having played both FES and reload, it feels very strongly apparent to me how the core gameplay formula of persona has really been refined in the past 18 years (to think og p3 was 2006 and reload is 2024.. time flies!). and reload has made revisiting a story that i love so dearly much, much easier because the gameplay just bops!
at the same time, due to my "i miss characterization informed by weird and dated FES gameplay quirks" woes, i still think that playing FES is worthwhile. (really, i feel this way about all iterations of p3! i think it's worthwhile to see what each version and side media has to say even if it doesn't Land™ for you.) but i also understand why people wouldn't want to play it, so i will keep writing posts about things i liked from FES's gameplay because i'm still very fond of FES (especially in respects to minato. these mechanics are so telling about him!!!) 💪
