The Velocipastor
Today’s recommendation for a good sleepover movie is “The Velocipastor”. This action/comedy style movie is about a pastor named Doug who travels to China after his parents die and gains the ability to turn into a velociraptor. Using this ability, he helps to fight ninjas and crime. In terms of quality, this movie looks like it was filmed out of someone's backyard using a children's allowance but this only adds to the movies comedic value. To give you an idea of the movie, within the first few minutes the pastor’s parents die from a car explosion that they did not have the budget to animate:
After witnessing this traumatic event, the pastor travels to China and cuts his hand on a dinosaur claw given to him by a dying girl that we later find out gave him the power to transform into a velociraptor. In case you were wondering, this is what it looks like:
With the unique plot, awful acting, and even worse costumes, this movie is hilariously bad and is an easy and fun watch for sleepovers!

The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl- 3D
Made by the same people who created the iconic Spy Kids movies and released in 2005, Sharkboy and Lavagirl is a family adventure movie based around the imagination of a young boy named Max. Max struggles with his parents failing marriage and bullying and creates an imaginary dream world “Planet Drool” with the characters Sharkboy and Lavagirl. After random tornados start to form around his school, Max is taken to the imaginary Planet Drool by Sharkboy and Lavagirl who ask for his help in defeating the villain Mr.Electric. Despite it's sad underlying themes, the movie definitely has its comedic moments such as the iconic “he ruined my dream journal!” scene which has become a meme on the internet. It's also hard to take the movie seriously when the villain is a circular robot with the face of George Lopez.
With the terrible CGI and plot holes it makes sense why it's sporting a 19% on Rotten Tomatoes with the critic census saying,”The decision to turn this kiddie fantasy into a 3-D film was a miscalculation”. However, the awful quality and comedic moments make it a great sleepover movie to poke fun of with your friends. You can watch it now on Hulu, fuboTV, or Amazon Prime!

Holidate
All the single people who always need to find a date for something, this one's for you! Today’s movie recommendation is Holidate. With a stupendous 44% on Rotten Tomatoes, this Netflix original movie starts by introducing a new concept of “holidating” and you follow these two young adults as they explore this concept. The way holidating (yes this is being used as a verb now) works is you find a friend and the two of you agree that you will be each other’s dates only for the holidays. For example, if one of you needs to attend a Christmas party you two would go as a couple. As you can predict, this couple becomes more than friends who go to events together as they spend so many holidays around each other. With the hardships of their relationship, this movie is very light and comedic from how awkward it is which makes it perfect to watch with friends at a sleepover. You could even find yourself a holidate while you watch.

Home Alone 1
If you haven’t watched Home Alone 1 now is the time to do so! Home Alone is a classic and it’s argued to be one of the best Christmas movies of all-time! Even though it’s definitely not Christmas time this comedic movie will make you, your friends, and family laugh all year round. The film is about a young boy, Kevin, who gets in an argument with his family. He is sent to the attic and is accidentally left home alone when his family leaves for vacation. At first he’s relieved that his family is gone because he thinks his wish to have no family has come true. This is until two robbers plan to rob his house. It’s an engaging story line! It came to our surprise when we noticed the movie got by with only a 67% on rotten tomatoes! Why is this? Even the worst reviews admit to how hilarious the movie is but some claim, “...it has little to do with Christmas…” and that they’ve “‘...watched it too many times and it’s lost the funny factor…”. Personally, these are NOT deal breakers. The movie has many good lessons and touching moments. This movie is suitable for almost all age groups! So what are you waiting for? Go watch it!

So Bad That They Are Funny: Movies For Sleepovers A Series
Now that we have shared our opinions on movies that are actually bad and we suggest you don’t watch, we now want to suggest movies that are the funny kind of bad for you to watch. Like the ones you look for during sleepovers. So, in the next couple of weeks we will be doing a little mini series that will feature movies that can easily be played in the background or when you are very tired.
For this week, our suggestion is How To Be A Latin Lover on Netflix. This movie starts off strong then continues even stronger with lots of character development every scene of the movie. With the bad acting and special effects, it may seem like one of the dumbest movies ever. However, there is eventually a message at the end of the movie for any audience watching -- whether it be a single mom, a 10 year old, or a man in his 30s with serious relationship problems. If you are skeptical on whether this movie is actually funny, just watch it for yourself because you will not regret it.

Tom and Jerry
Another movie recommendation coming at you! Today it is “Tom and Jerry”. This action/comedy movie was released less than a month ago! The movie includes many funny references to the destructive cat and mouse duo's most popular short films. It successfully rekindles your childhood nostalgia of the iconic characters. It’s a very fun, entertaining and hilarious production presenting a crazy battle between two well known frenemies. The movie begins when Jerry moves to New York City's finest hotel where Tom was found planning a large wedding. The rivalry between the two reemerges and their battle soon threatens to destroy the wedding, and possibly the hotel itself. The biggest criticism that the reviews are saying is that the movie isn't trying to bring forward any kind of story that will challenge a viewer of any age to think about what they're watching. Yet, as a sleepover movie recommendation, this leaves time for you to chat and eat your popcorn without getting too confused with the plot. It’s a very funny and chill flick that is undoubtedly a fun throwback.
