It would be too much for my heart if she agrees to it - that is if they pitched the idea to her while filming. Guess we’ll wait and see? 

- I am so agree with Jaechan’s part. I love his character! Apart from the dream ability, he is very.. human. He is not perfect he has flaws, he lives his life in comfort zone with his brother, family oriented, sometimes comical and have a tiny bit of narcissist in him, disliked by colleagues, these are all normal. He is living a normal life. A real normal life – except for the dream. I think this character is very much perfect for him. :)

Jae Chan is relateable - I understand his reasoning behind the decisions he has made throughout his life.  He’s been dealt a bad hand, but he does what he can.  We’re already seeing the fire behind his eyes again in the last episode too - he’s starting to believe in himself more, and it also helps that he has the support of Hong Joo and his brother.  Especially Hong Joo.  She phrased it in a way that was, “Succeed or fail, I’ll support you”.  Hearing that just reassured Jae Chan all the more, knowing that regardless of the outcome, he’s still loved and appreciated.  Not that his father didn’t appreciate him, but we can see why he saw encouragement as a threat.  He wants to make his dad proud, and anything less than that would be a failure in his eyes already.  

- My sister said “Probably Wootak’s parents was also killed by the soldier. That’s why he has that ability?”. While I think, since he was supposed to die, and the grim reaper must’ve waiting for him near the road, he survivedddddd! That might be the reason he has the same ability as Jaechan and Hongjoo? And then my sister replied “so… isn’t that bad guy, Soyun(?)’s father, would have the same dream? He survived… he was supposed to fall from the apartment…” ………… I don’t know anymore.

Interesting theory!  That could explain why Jae Chan (sorta?) has his ability.  He almost had a brush with death.  The thing that boggles my brain is why only now did he see these dreams? Not when he was a child, like Hong Joo?

Oh yeah pretty sexy! Three dreamers, a set of Avengers.

Yes, they’re very sexy lol. I can’t wait to see the other side of the coin - the cons of having such a powerful ability.  When you change fate too much, or when you change it only to your favour?  Hm that will be interesting to see if they do show that other side

4th Review: While You Were Sleeping (2017)

Type: Korean Drama These are some personal favorite moments of mine from the show! (Credits to those who made the gifs, I take no credit whatsoever except for the review below!)

While You Were Sleeping is a great romance drama starring Lee Jong Suk as Prosecutor Jung Jae-chan, Bae Suzy as Reporter Nam Hong-joo, and Jung Hae-in as Police Officer Han Woo-tak. I decided to give this drama a try since I’m a big Lee Jong Suk fan and love watching romantic dramas, I would definitely re watch this drama.

The drama focuses on the power trio, Jung Jae-chan (Lee Jong Suk), Nam Hong-joo (Bae Suzy), and Han Woo-tak (Jung Hae In) who have the power to see the future through dreams. This power is shared if the person avoids death and is saved by Nam Hong-joo. Since Jung Jae-chan and Han Woo-tak are saved by Hong-joo in their own ways, they are able to gain the power of seeing the future of the person they were saved by. 

With this power, they assist each other by saving one another from death and/or certain situations by using their dreams while assisting Prosecutor Jae-chan in taking down the antagonistic and corrupt lawyer, Lee Yoo-beom who is played by Lee Sang-yeob.

(+) I absolutely loved the balance and integration of side arcs, they felt so natural and contributed to the story to further the plot. Like how Jae-chan and Yoo-beom are connected by their childhood past, showing how messed up Yoo-beom is. As well as, how Hong-joo and Jae-chan are connected to Investigator Choi Dam-dong, played by Kim Won-hae, who is the older brother of the soldier who killed their fathers. Not only do these character arcs further the story, it develops gives the depth of the characters and makes you more attached to them. 

To add on, not only are the side arcs great but how natural the incorporation romance and legal drama, the story doesn’t feel awkward or choppy when mixing the two very different genres but WYWS seems to get this down pretty well. 

(+) Not only is the power trio so great, consisting of powerful (and very hot) characters but the supporting cast was also very likable. I loved the whole Prosecutor team, Woo-tak’s partner in crime, Nam-joo’s mother, and Jae-chan’s younger brother - they were a great supporting cast. It’s more I love how the characters are designed and of course, but its all due to the actors/actresses’ effort and talent. 

(+) Besides the plot, I absolutely loved the soundtrack! I learned that Lee Jong Suk sang two of the songs (“Will You Know” and “Come to Me”) and not to mention Bae Suzy’s songs are amazing. Sometimes, drama soundtracks aren’t extensive and tend to be repetitive sometimes but WYWS had great music cues and I like listening to the songs even when I’m not watching this drama.

(+) A great love triangle between the power trio, it’s not destructive and since Jae-chan and Woo-tak are hot and great characters, you can root for either of them. (side thing: Actor Jung Hae-in looks like Tadashi from Big Hero 6 if you watched that lol) Although Woo-tak doesn’t get with Hong-joo, he is very supportive of Jae-chan and Hong-joo relationship and he continues to be friends with them to the very end. Even though Woo-tak is literally the best, he deserved better. 

(+) Lastly, the ending was amazing. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted from a drama, as it was tied up great. WYWS doesn’t play the horrible ‘child trope’ but focuses on the happiness of all the characters and how they really end up in the near future. I don’t want to spoil the whole ending, but just know I personally think it’s great.

(-) Some moments between Hong-joo and Jae-chan are cringe, but they’re amusing and it mostly happens at the beginning of the show. 

I don’t have many complaints about this drama; the cast, plot, and soundtrack are all amazing. After reading this review, I hope this convinces you to watch this drama because it’s definitely a great one to pick up.

In celebration for Wanna One’s 1st Debut Anniversary, @ongsung an I have decided to release a series of oneshots daily, starting from today July 27th and ending on August 6th (August 7th in KST, and thus Wanna One’s anniversary).

I’ve chosen to write based on a selection of Wanna One songs, and she’ll be writing based on the individual teasers that were released for Energetic/Burn It Up. We will link each other’s stories below, so feel free to read hers after this one. See you tomorrow in our next installments :)

The bell rang, signaling the end of the school day. Immediately after, the students bowed to their teacher before packing up to leave school. Some would go home, some to sports practice, and others to study at the library. The library was exactly where Woo Jin was heading now.

Although he wasn’t the best student, Woo Jin was still quite smart in his class, and ranked pretty high in his grade. Although classes could be boring sometimes, Woo Jin still found interest in the subjects he was learning, and tried his best to do well in school. Many of his friends told him that if he really tried, he could be ranked 1, but Woo Jin waved it way, saying it wasn’t worth the effort if he didn’t enjoy it.

As he walked through the library entrance, he greeted the librarian and waved to a few people he knew before finding a spot at one of the tables. He saw a girl who was sitting a few seats down but didn’t pay too much attention. That is, not until about half an hour later when she dropped her head onto the table with a loud bang. 

The sound broke his concentration and he looked over to see if she was okay. After waiting for several minutes and seeing she hadn’t lifted her head, he slowly slid his chair out and approached her. Reaching out hesitantly, he paused a bit before tapping her on the shoulder. 

“Excuse me, but are you okay?”

Her head shot up from the contact an she turned around to meet his eyes in surprise.

“I’m sorry?”

He smiled awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck.

“You’re Y/N, from classroom 2 right? I’m Woo Jin from class 3 but I...just saw you earlier and thought you might need some help?”

Woo Jin had never met her before, but apparently they both had some mutual friends. Despite this, they never were formally introduced.

“Oh...about that,” she said before turning back to the papers and the open textbook in front of her. After a few seconds, she groaned and visibly slumped. Woo Jin quickly took a seat beside her and tired to console her.

“Hey, hey. Whatever it is, it’ll be okay! I’m sure you can solve this,” he said before he looked at the papers in front of her. It was Korean language, which happened to be one of the subjects Woo Jin excelled in.

“That’s what I thought too, but this assignment is too difficult! How am I supposed to do this assignment when I don’t understand anything?”

“It’s not that bad! Here, let’s start at the beginning and we can work our way through...”

And so Woo Jin spent the rest of the time helping the Y/N study. If she didn’t get it the first time, he would explain it again in another way until she understood it. Both of them stayed there until the library closed, and by that time, Y/N had learned more in one sitting with Woo Jin than she ever did during the entire class.

“Wow, Woo Jin, you’re amazing! I don’t know how you’re able to explain everything so clearly, and make it seem so easy! Why doesn’t the teacher do this?”

Woo Jin blushed at the compliment and shrugged his shoulders.

“Who knows, but I’m glad I was able to help you.”

She looked over to the other side where he had originally been sitting and gasped.

“Oh my gosh, did I keep you from doing your work? I’m so sorry!”

She looked so guilty and worried, but Woo Jin shook his head.

“No, it’s fine. I don’t have anything due tomorrow; I was just reviewing some things but I can do that tonight.”

“Are you sure? I feel so bad for taking up all your time....”

“Really, it’s okay,” he insisted with a smile.

“Regardless, thank you so much, Woo Jin! There aren’t many people who would willingly give up their own time to help me. You’re one of a kind,” she said with a bright smile. 

Seeing that, Woo Jin suddenly felt his heart race. 

“I...I didn’t do all that much. It was really difficult for me at first too, but I worked really hard to learn and understand everything.”

“Well, clearly it paid off....and I hope you don’t mind me asking, but do you think we could do this again sometime? I know you have your own classes but...”

“Yes!” Woo Jin said almost a little too quickly. If Y/N was surprised she didn’t show it, and only beamed in response.

“I mean, yes I don’t mind. I think it would be good to have someone else to study well; most of my friends don’t like it here,” Woo Jin added to save from his social blunder.

“Great! I feel like I’m learning so much better now that I’ve met you. You’re like my safety net from now on!”

And as they walked out of the library together, Woo Jin couldn’t help but think he’d be looking forward to going to the library more now, especially if he was going to be with Y/N.

In which the fates give Dae Hwi a second chance.

In celebration for Wanna One’s 1st Debut Anniversary, @ongsung an I have decided to release a series of oneshots daily, starting from today July 27th and ending on August 6th (August 7th in KST, and thus Wanna One’s anniversary).

I’ve chosen to write based on a selection of Wanna One songs, and she’ll be writing based on the individual teasers that were released for Energetic/Burn It Up. We will link each other’s stories below, so feel free to read hers after this one. See you tomorrow in our next installments :)

“We’ll be together again, right?” the girl asked.

“Of course we will,” Dae Hwi heard himself say.

“Promise you’ll remember me?” she asked hopefully.

“I’ll always remember you!”

“Then why haven’t you found me yet?” the girl asked again, this time sadly.

He tried to respond but before he could, his sight clouded over and the dream was over. Dae Hwi blinked his eyes and sat up, seeing the sun shining through the window in his bedroom. Turning over to his nightstand, he saw the hourglass he had turned over last night, had stopped flowing sand. Reaching out, he flipped it over again, so the sand could flow once more.

Dae Hwi had this hourglass for as long as he could remember. His mom told him he’d brought it home from kindergarten one day, and kept it ever since. But he never recalled how or where he had gotten it, since they moved frequently during his childhood. A few years later, he would have these recurring dreams of a girl asking if he remembered her. Although he always answered in the affirmative, he never actually saw her face clearly. They didn’t occur too frequently, maybe several times a year, but when he did have them, he’d be left confused more than ever.

Last night’s dream had been different though. Although they had brief conversations in his dreams before, she had never asked why he hadn’t found her yet. Was it a sign that he’d find some answers to these strange dreams soon?

Shaking his head, he climbed out of bed to start the day. Washing up and donning his clothes, he went to the kitchen to grab some breakfast before heading off to school. 

It was like any other normal day, but Dae Hwi still felt off kilter due to his dream last night. Even his friends told him he was out of it, but he smiled and simply brushed it aside, blaming it on something he ate that morning. When school ended, he decided to go to the music room to de-stress. For some reason, the dream was bothering him more than usual and he wanted to play some piano before heading home. Opening the door, he expected to see an empty room but was surprised to see someone sitting at the piano. That someone turned around when he entered the room, and smiled.

“Oh, hi Dae Hwi!”

“Hi, Y/N. It’s a surprise to see you here. Do you come here often?”

She shook her head.

“No, not really. I just wanted to get my mind off of things so I came here.”

He walked towards the piano and placed his bag on the desk before dragging a chair over to sit by her.

“Funny, I came here to do the same thing.”

She indicated to the piano.

“Do you play?”

“A little bit, I used to play more when I was little but now it’s just a de-stressing thing. I should pick it up again.”

“Ah, I’m the same way. But I haven’t played anything since I’ve gotten here,” she said before playing a few keys, a tune sounding out briefly through the room before she stopped.

“Seems like you can play pretty well, Y/N.”

Y/N blushed and shook her head in embarrassment.

“Not really, I can play only a handful of songs.”

Dae Hwi smiled. Although he had originally wanted to play piano, it seemed that he had found something else to distract from his mysterious dreams.

“It’s never too late to learn!”

“Mm, perhaps. I’m definitely more of the listening type though....do you mind if I ask you to play?”

He was surprised she wanted to hear him play, and felt slightly nervous at first. He hadn’t performed in front of someone for some time, but something about Y/N made him feel like it would be all right. He must have taken too long to answer, and Y/N quickly interjected his thoughts.

“If you don’t want to play you don’t have to! I’m sorry I asked, I just assumed you came here to play, so I figured....”

He smiled and shook his head.

“It’s fine, I was just surprised you asked me. Give me a second to think of a song.”

“Take your time, I can wait.”

And so they switched spots before he finally placed his fingers on the keys and began playing. Eventually he lost himself in the song, and when it ended, he heard clapping to the side. 

“Wow, you’re amazing! You play really well, and it seems you enjoy it too.”

He chuckled at her reaction, pleased that she had enjoyed the song so much.

“Thank you. I suppose music is something I’ve always loved, and piano was something I picked up along the way.”

“I wish I was the same; my mom forced me to play and I’ve never really gotten the hang of it. Thus, my song repertoire is kind of on the not-extensive side.”

They both smiled at each other, before Dae Hwi looked down to see Y/N was turning an hourglass in her hands. In fact when he looked closely, it looked like the one he had!

“Wait, where did you get that?”

Y/N looked surprised at his outburst but still answered his question.

“I’ve always had it since I was younger. Apparently it was in a set of two, and I gave one away in kindergarten, according to my parents anyway. I don’t remember who I gave it to, though.”

Dae Hwi pulled out the hourglass from his pocket and showed Y/N, who looked at it with widened eyes. She held out hers to compare and both looked exactly the same. 

“I haven’t told anyone else, but I’ve been getting dreams since I was younger. Of a boy saying we’ll be together again,” she continued slowly, still in awe.

“Did he also say that he’ll always remember you?”

“Yes! But I can never see his face. The dreams were always the same, but last night I asked something I’ve never said before.”

“Why I haven’t found you yet?”

They both looked down at their hourglasses before looking up at each other, and then laughing shyly.

Who knew that they would found each other again after all these years? It seemed that those dreams meant something after all.
