❥ Chapter 1 ➛ Word Count - 3,785
ᶠᶦᶜ ᵐᵉⁿᵘ ⁻ ᶜʰᵃᵖᵗᵉʳ ᵒⁿ ᵃᵒ³
t was always pathetic to him, choking back Abilify and Prozac daily just to fit in. The bitter taste of pills and water coupled well with the stale office air nearly weekly. Bored expressions and constant headaches just for him to be told, “I’m sorry Mr. Burns, we need to up your medication.”
As though it was helping him with the near-nightly delusions and aching addictions. To him, it was nothing but an extra trouble he felt as though he didn’t want to go through. Did it help? Or delay the inevitable.
Elliot would properly say it only did the latter, keeping him on the edge of his downfall long enough to tease him. He had his beautiful girlfriend August to thank for holding him together for so long. He loved her dearly, loved her so much he slowly learned he was suffocating her.
"Babe- Look I just- ugh!" She shouted in frustration. Her beautiful red curls bounced in the light like Elliot had always loved. Yet the eyes he fell for held anger and tears. "I can't keep doing this! I can't keep up with the constant controlling!"
Slowly her words fell onto his ears, keeping him glued to their old beat-up couch. What did she mean? Why was his love so angry and upset with him? He had done nothing but kept the same.
Elliot leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees as he watched the small woman sniffle and sob to herself. He tilted his head, the blonde strands following the movement. "What constant controlling? Darling, my love, what are you talking about?"
His voice was confused, and curious as August continued to pace around their living room. Yet even his concern didn't stop her from lashing out at him, lashing out at him for being nothing but a good boyfriend.
"Every single second since we graduated college you've been down my throat!" August's soft-spoken voice cracked with a fear he knew all too well, "You pick my clothes for me, what I eat, who I talk to. Where I fucking work?!"
Her reaction caught his attention enough to warrant him standing slowly. His movements were calculated as he approached his frantic girlfriend. Every step he took closer to her, August's breath quickened. The fear in her eyes grew as he reached to comfort his love through a panic attack.
"I mean look at you love... It's only because you need me too- You're a mess, my beautiful mess." Elliot tried to coo and comfort August.
"N-no I wasn't. I was fine... I was learning. I didn't need you to-" She flinched away, backing herself nearly into the recliner.
Instinctively Elliot reached for August, grabbing her by her forearm and yanking her to his chest. Her breathing hitched, stuttering in pure shock and terror as she was dragged closer to the male.
"You didn’t need me to what... Treat you so nicely and give you everything you wanted?" Elliot cooed softly, leaning closer to his love. He noses gently against her auburn curls, humming softly at her lovely scent.
Yet she only trembled, shook in his arms, and jerked as he smelled her. August’s hands reach to Elliot’s button-up, palms flat against his chest and gently pushing. Her arms shook as the tears flowed heavily.
"It's not nice Elliot... I have to hide the bruises and I c-can't keep doing this.." August whimpered, using all her strength to shove her way out of Elliot’s arms. The force of the push knocked her out of his arms and into the recliner with a loud bang.
She landed with a yelp as her head hit the armrest, her vision now spinning as she watched Elliot stand above her. The man was never known for his patience behind closed doors and here August knew she was screwed.
“No. No, you can keep doing this. You will keep doing this.” Elliot snarled as he grabbed her leg.
His grip was bruise-deep, littering her with even more of the blue-black the small girl had learned to live with. He yanked her forward, pulling her hips off the armrest and into his. August’s eyes widened with terror as she realized what she was feeling. Elliot was hard from her fear, from her fear.
“If you let me go and let me leave I won’t tell anyone what you did!” August screamed as she tried to kick and hit at Elliot’s chest and groin. However, due to the size difference between the 5’3 woman and the 6’2 man, she did little to no damage to him.
The blonde’s head tilted to the side, soft blue eyes locked with her green ones. “Why would you tell anyone about what I’ve done? You love me right.. right August?”
“No! I don’t! I don’t love you!” She screamed, “Because if I tell anyone you’ll never see me again!” August whaled, slapping at Elliot’s hands, “Why would I love someone who hurts me!?”
He’ll never see her again… Slow dread wormed its way into Elliot’s mind at the statement replayed over and over again. He needed to see her… His love wouldn’t do that right..? He was enough for her? He had to be! The Rest On AO3

When you woke up your head felt like it was in a fog, the edges of your vision slightly blurry as you looked around the room. Your bare feet dropped to the floor, you shivered as you stood from your bed, it was a lot colder in here than you remember it being. You paused at your doorway, something wasn't right. Despite the fact you had crossed the entire expanse of your bedroom there wasn't a single creaking floorboard or footstep to be heard. You look back at your bed only to find your body still laying there. “What the hell?” You mutter softly to yourself. You walk over to your still sleeping form, your shoulders rising and falling with every even breath as you lie motionless beneath the covers.
“Don't worry, you'll be able to re enter your body when we're done here.” You jumped at the sudden voice that seemed to come from nowhere and everywhere at the same time. Its tone is both a whisper and a deafening howl, the sound high pitched and somehow also impossibly low.
“God?” You ask with a confused expression.
The voice laughs, “I guess you could say that.” The silence that surrounded you was deafening as the voice faded out, it was so quiet you could hear your blood rushing in your ears, no ambient sound existed in whatever plane you had been snatched into. “Trust in Vessel, he’ll show you the way.”
You shot up in bed with a sharp gasp, your lungs burning like you had been holding your breath. Your alarm was blaring on your night stand, 8 in the morning, you had an hour until you opened. You got out of bed, listening carefully for the sound of your footsteps against the floor to make sure you really had returned from wherever the hell you had gone in your dreams. “I'm going crazy, I'm actually losing my mind.” You argue with your reflection in the mirror. “Some mysterious voice coming from my subconscious about trusting Vessel, of course I trust him. But what the hell is the way he's supposed to be showing me?” You decided to drop it for now with an annoyed groan, flying through your morning routine and jogging downstairs just as 9 o'clock rolled around. The day flew by, the steady stream of customers helping to distract you from the weird dream you had. You were just about to lock the door when the all too familiar pickup truck pulled into the lot. You smiled, pushing the door open and leaning against it as you waited to see just who had stopped by to visit tonight. You were a bit surprised to see II jump out of the cab unaccompanied, usually when he was sent to make supply runs he always had one of the others in tow. He strides over to you, reaching out to pull you into an embrace the moment you were close enough.
“I have a question for you.” He states softly once he pulls back, his hands still resting comfortably on your waist.
“And what might that be?” You smile, subconsciously leaning into him.
“Would you be comfortable coming back to camp with me?” You paused the moment the question fell from his lips. “Vessel already knows I'm inviting you, he's the one that brought it up in fact.” II chuckles, knowing exactly where your mind had wandered.
“I would love to.” He waits patiently for you to lock up, his hand slipping into yours, giving it a gentle squeeze as the two of you chat idly on your way back to the truck. You slid across the worn leather bench seat, II hopping behind the wheel not long after. He wraps an arm around your shoulders, leaning in to press a clothed kiss to your cheek.
“Are you warm enough?” You nod, letting your head fall to rest against his shoulder as he starts driving. His thumb languidly trailed back and forth across your shoulder, every so often he would glance down at you to see if you were still awake. You wound down endless back roads, slowly pushing your way down paths that had long since been forgotten until the group had ventured this far out into the woods. II attempted to dodge raised roots and potholes without much success, the makeshift road being filled with craters that rattled the pair of you around in the cab. You were thankful when the dirt path finally smoothed out, the trees opening up to reveal a large clearing with four cabins evenly spaced out around the circle. You recognized minimal details of it from the pictures you had seen in the paper. The cabin opposite the entrance was surrounded by flower beds of various sizes and states of growth, some containing a painter's palette of wildflowers, others filled with various crops that seemed to be growing very successfully. “That's IV’s cabin.” II must've noticed your impressed stare. “I will warn you though, if you compliment him on his gardening it will make him really flustered, so do with that information what you will.” He chuckles.
“Do you all have different jobs?” You ask curiously, II nods his confirmation.
“IV is the main one in charge of produce. III’s a fairly decent hunter, that's where we get the majority of the meat we eat. I’m in charge of the finances.” He lists off everyone's role around the camp. “And Vessel… well he's our spiritual advisor for a lack of a better term.” He chuckles. He pulls the truck up alongside a cabin that was more set back from the rest, it's dark wood almost blending in with the treeline. “He’s in the middle of something, I'll take you to IV.” He smiles at you. He motions for you to wait, jogging around the front of the truck to open your door for you. He bows his head slightly as he offers his hand, you can't help but laugh softly at his actions.
“What a gentleman.” You grin at him.
“For you, only the best.” He winks. Your hand slips into his, his skin cool against yours. His eyes stay locked on your form as you hop down from the truck, the moment your feet hit the ground he's tugging you into his side, wanting to keep you as close as possible. “I'd like to be able to spend some time alone with you later, if that's alright.” The corners of your mouth quirk up in a smile at the slight nervousness you picked up in his voice. You glance up at him, pulling your bottom lip between your teeth before pushing yourself up to place a kiss to his cheek.
“I'd love to.” You whisper in his ear with a coy smile. Your attention was stolen by IV calling your name from across the clearing. II places a hand against the small of your back, gently nudging you in his direction. You meet him in the middle, giggling as he flings his arms around you and spins you in a hug.
“I missed you.” His eyes crinkle as he smiles, you found your cheeks growing warmth at the genuine joy in his voice.
“You did?” You ask softly.
“Yeah.” Goosebumps rise on your skin as you feel him gently knead at the softness of your waist. His eyes nervously dart from yours, tracing over a pattern he had found in the grass as he sucks in a deep breath. “I, um, I didn't get to say everything I wanted to you the other day.” You waited patiently for him to continue, seeing how nervous he was about choosing exactly the right words was honestly endearing in your eyes. “Do you think we could sit down and talk?”
“Of course we can, wherever you like.” You smile softly at him. He hesitantly removed his hand from your waist, carefully taking your hand and studying your reaction to make sure he wasn't doing too much too quickly. He led you to his cabin, shutting the door behind him and watching you with delight as you looked around curiously at all the small knick knacks and trinkets he had littered around the small space. His heart races when his eyes meet yours, he would never get tired of seeing the way your whole face lit up when you smiled.
“I want you to know that I really like you.” He blurts out, unable to stop the confession from coming out. “I might not be as experienced as the others, and I might take things slowly, but that's just because I don't want to mess this up.” His bright blue eyes scan over your features as he waits for you to respond.
“IV, I'm not worried about moving too slow or too fast, or whether or not you're experienced. I think you're very sweet, handsome, fun,” every compliment was punctuated with you taking another step closer to him. “I like you too, I want to see where things go, and I'm very excited to see how we get there.” He breathes out a relieved chuckle.
“I just don't want you to think that I'm not as interested as the others.” His arms slide around your waist, your instinctually slipping over his shoulders as he pulls you into him. His fingers ghost over your cheek, you lean into his touch, allowing him to carefully cradle your face in his hand. “You're so beautiful, every moment I've gotten to spend with you has been nothing short of amazing.” Your cheeks grow warm as he continues his assault of compliments. He seemed relieved to have gotten that off his chest, the usual playful glimmer returning to his expression.
“Well, I look forward to spending more time with you.” His gaze dropped to your lips for a moment before he hesitantly pulled away. He clears his throat, his eyes trailing to the window.
“Did you get to see the garden at all?” He asks, a slight nervous tremor in his voice.
“A little, but I'd love to see it up close. You have a very impressive green thumb IV.” He taps the toe of his boot against the cabin floor.
“It's nothing special.” He rebuttals bashfully. “But, it's definitely a lot better than what we started out with.” He starts to head towards the door, your hand slipping effortlessly into his as you trailed after him. He brought you to the edge of the flowerbeds, wrapping an arm around your shoulder to keep you close to his side as he pointed to all the various different types of produce and flowers he was growing, slipping in small fun facts every so often.
“I don't know how you can say this isn't anything special IV, this is incredible. You've really done an amazing job.” He froze, swallowing thickly as he looked down at you.
“Thank you, love.” He says softly. A soft smile finds its way to your lips as you watch his eyes slowly trace over your features. “Can I take you on a date sometime?” You can't help but giggle at the question.
“I would love that.” You feel him squeeze your waist, the corners of his eyes crinkling as he returns your smile. You both jumped slightly as someone shouted from across the field. II had III in tow, the taller man dropping off his pack of hunting supplies before quickly making his way over to you. IV leans down, placing a kiss to the top of your head before stepping away. You smiled as III approached, your heart immediately pounding in your chest at the sight of the streaks of sweat that had broken down his black body paint. You were unable to stop your gaze from raking across his exposed torso. Your cheeks grew warm as your eyes snapped back up to meet his, immediately noticing the playful glimmer in his expression. You nearly stumbled backwards as III’s long strides quickly landed him right in front of you, a strong hand landing on your waist to steady you as he caught your chin between his fingers with the other. Your eyes dart to anywhere but his, trying your best to hide your flustered state.
“Don’t get all shy on me now.” He chuckles. “How are you beautiful?” You manage to squeak out a ‘good’ in response. III leans down, the fabric of his mask soft against your skin as he presses a kiss to your forehead. “Have you shown her around at all?” He asked IV, his hand still lingering on your waist as he pulled away.
“Just a bit of the garden.” IV responds.
“Think we should give her the grand tour?” II suggests.
“I don’t see why not.” IV immediately perks up at the idea. You reach out, taking hold of IV’s hand, giving him a coy smile as you cuddle up to his side.
“Well, lead the way boys.” II and III share an amused look over IV’s surprised expression. It takes him a moment before he finally relaxes, giving your hand a gentle squeeze before he brings your knuckles to his lips.
It had been less than a year since they had arrived in town and the progress they had already made at their camp was nothing short of incredible. IV had grown a whole storehouse of crops, all of which were expertly preserved in order to maintain the four of them easily throughout the winter and early spring. You learned that he was hoping to learn how to make preserves out of the vast amounts of berries in the area. III showed you some of his easier to navigate hunting trails, explaining that he only hunts as needed and how important to him it is to use the entire animal whenever possible. The four of you wandered down trails, each of them pointing out spots where they would like to go to read or play music. “We should plan a day to hike out to the lake.” IV suggests.
“Maybe next summer, it’s a little too cold for that now.” II responds. “I definitely think we should at some point though, I really think you’d like it there.” You smile as III places a kiss to the top of your head, his presence at your side immediately being replaced by II who wrapped his arm around your shoulders as you continued walking. You had noticed how the three of them almost seemed to be taking turns being next to you, the thought alone was enough to make butterflies erupt in your stomach.
“I was wondering where you all went.” Your heart immediately began to race at the sound of Vessel’s voice. You turn to find him leaning in the doorway of his cabin, “love, would it be alright if I stole you for a second?” He nods for you to follow him inside his cabin.You swallow thickly, feeling nervous despite the fact you knew you had to reason to worry. You’re snapped from your thoughts by II pressing a kiss to your cheek.
“I’ll go start dinner while you’re in there.” He gives you a gentle nudge in Vessel’s direction, prompting you forward. He towered over you from his position leaning in the doorway, offering you his hand once you were in reach and guiding you inside. The inside of his cabin was simple; a small wooden desk with a chair sat in front of the window, a perfectly made bed with black sheets sat against the opposite wall, the large piece of furniture the focal point of the room. Across the room from where you stood you noticed a bookshelf tucked into the corner, the shelves filled with journals, textbooks, and various decks of cards. You could feel Vessel studying you, he watched your body language carefully, trying to gauge exactly how you were feeling in this very moment.
You jumped as he suddenly shut the door, a soft chuckle escaping him at the sight. “There’s no need to be so tense, love.” He steps up to your side, trailing a finger along the edge of your jaw as he leans down close to your ear. “I’m not that scary, am I?” He purrs, sending a shiver down your spine.
“I’m just a little on edge today, I guess.” You laugh softly.
“And why’s that?” He keeps you close to him as he moves. Settling himself on the edge of his bed, his hands coming comfortably to rest on the curve of your waist as he holds you in front of him. You feel his fingers gently push into you, moving you closer to him without much effort. The front of your thighs presses against the edge of his plush mattress, Vessel’s long legs caging you in on either side. You still had to look up slightly to be face to face with him, knowing you had met his eyes behind the slits of his mask as your heart began to pound in your chest.
“I have a feeling you already know the answer to that.” Your voice trembled as you spoke.
“Smart girl,” he praises, “I see you’re putting the pieces together quickly.” He ponders over what to say for a moment, carefully selecting each word in his mind. “He spoke to you last night, didn’t he?”
“Vessel, what was that?” You answered his question with your own.
“That was Sleep.” He states simply. A bewildered expression formed on your face, Vessel continued speaking before you had a chance to ask any questions. “I for the life of me can’t figure out how to even begin telling you about Sleep.” He admits with a bashful chuckle. “I hate to keep you in the dark, but can I please ask you to wait just a little while longer?” The booming voice echoed in the back of your mind. ‘Trust in Vessel, he’ll show you the way.’
“I trust you.” Your voice comes out barely above a whisper.
“When the time is right I’ll tell you everything, you have my word.” He promises, his hand gently cupping your cheek, his thumb trailing slowly across your skin. The cool material of his mask comes to rest against your forehead. He just held you for a moment, both of you relaxing into the comfortable silence that surrounded you. “I shouldn’t keep you too long, the others will throw a fit.” He says quietly, both of you dissolving into soft laughter.
“Vessel,” he hums in response to you saying his name.
“What is it, love?”
“I really enjoyed our time together the other night.” He froze, seeming almost dumbfounded by the words that had left your mouth.
“You did?” His response comes out timidly, as if he was dancing around those two simple words, worried it was the wrong thing to say. “Maybe… Maybe we could do something like that again sometime then.”
“I’d like that.” You smile softly at him.
Your fingers remained linked with his as he led you across the clearing, the other three members of the group working quickly to make sure everything was set up by the time you reached the table. You were handed a plate of something you didn’t recognize, but it tasted good. Your night became a blur of stolen kisses on your cheeks and laughter that easily bubbled up from your chest. “I believe II had something planned for the two of you tonight.” Vessel suddenly chimes in. “I think we should probably give them some privacy, boys.” He suggests with a patient smile. They each say their respective goodbye’s; IV pressing a chaste kiss to your cheek, telling you he’ll see you soon before darting off to his cabin, III pulls you flush against him, lifting his mask just enough to capture your lips with his own. He mumbles a quiet ‘goodnight’ against your lips, his hand lingering on the curve of your waist as he pulls away. You turned to face Vessel, he held out his hand for you to take. “I’ll walk you.” It didn’t take you long to see that II had snuck off to set up a fire, a log pulled the perfect distance away from the flames to sit on. “It looks like you’re in for a nice evening.” You could feel his eyes studying you from behind his mask. “It’s a shame we have to part ways.”
“We still have a couple minutes.” Your eyes dart down to his lips momentarily.
“It almost sounds like you don’t want me to leave.” He responds with a lopsided grin.
“I don’t.” Vessel presses a knuckle below your chin, tilting your face up to allow him the chance to study your features closely.
“Trust me love, if I had it my way I already would have stolen you for myself.” He chuckles, his thumb swiping over your bottom lip. “We’ll have our time… I’ll make sure of it.” He whispers. He cradles your face gently in his hand, his eyes wandering over your features in silence for another moment before he speaks again. “II, make sure she gets home safely.” You hadn’t noticed until Vessel had startled him that II had wandered back in your direction. “Have a good night, beautiful.” A pair of warm lips press against your forehead, and just like before, as quickly as he was there he was gone. A sense of longing ached deep in your chest, one that was quickly pushed down as II’s hands came to rest on your waist. He gently turns you to face him, hand cupping your cheek as his lips ghost over yours. Your eyes flutter shut, your racing thoughts coming to a screeching halt as you let the kiss consume you.
“I’ve been waiting all day to do that.” II mumbles against your lips with a soft chuckle. Heavy, warm fabric is draped across your shoulders, your fingers instinctually reach up to rub along the edge of the thick denim jacket. “I wanted to make sure you were warm enough. It’s a nice night, but it still gets pretty cold out here.” You found yourself cuddled into his side, the campfire keeping you comfortable despite the chill in the air. II excitedly pointed out every constellation he recognized, filling your mind with tales of adventure, the bravest heroes, the most passionate of love stories. “Right there, that’s Andromeda. She’s famous for nearly being eaten by a sea monster because her mother tried to say she was more beautiful than the sea nymphs.” You can’t help but laugh slightly at the absurd story.
“Well, what do you think?” II gives you a curious glance. “Was she prettier than the sea nymphs?”
“She definitely wasn’t as pretty as you.” You stuttered out a shocked sound in response, your cheeks immediately growing warm. “You’re really bad at accepting compliments.” He points out bluntly, a hint of a smile in his tone.
“I’m just not really used to getting them I guess.” You admit with a bashful chuckle.
“You’re unfortunately going to have to get used to that then.” He glances down at you, his bright blue eyes meeting yours and freezing you in place. “You’re beautiful, I’m not about to let you forget that.”

sleep token boys x reader
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
“You’re looking at her like she’s the last supper," ii snorted after a while of watching Vessel practically drool over you. The post-show gatherings were rare. Well, the ones where the team could bring plus ones were. Boys usually stuck around for a quick photo, their way of showing how much they appreciated everyone’s work before they disappeared into the privacy of the back rooms. But not today. And for the very first time, it felt worth it.
“She might be," iii snickered, his eyes equally as pleased with the sight in front of him. “Let me clean your drool”, iv brings a napkin towards Vessel’s lips, one that the lead singer is quick to push away. “She would fit the next album," it’s barely a whispers, but they all fix their gaze on you now.
“I’ve seen her around," iii mutters, trying to think where it was, but the sea of people after a while just goes mushy. “Yeah, because you’ve been liking her pictures," iv says, crossing his arms over his chest. “As if that’s not weird. How the fuck would you know that?”, but the look iii shoots at his bandmate is met with a middle finger. "Vess, we already have the shoot planned for Friday”, ii is quick to interfere. He is always the most put-together one, making sure the plan stays where it should, once the ground rules are placed. "Yeah, but I don’t like what we got," Vess waves his hand around, “We need her," and here it is, no longer a maybe but the tone of a man who had set his mind.
“She could be sleep”, it’s almost a plea as Vess looks among the guys. “Look at her." Crocking his head to the side, Vess once again lets himself shamelessly admire you. “The hair, the skin, and the eyes, look at her eyes." As if feeling all four sets of eyes burning into your skin, you finally glance their way. And it’s as if, with your gaze alone, you had set off the panic. “Don’t look, don’t look," Vess hisses, head down, with iii grasping for his beer that nearly slipped through his fingers. “How old are we, three?”, iv hisses, placing his bottle down, before stepping forward. "Ivy," Vess catches his arm, but iv only gives him a serious look before adding, “This is creepy; we need to go talk to her, not gawk like a pack of creeps”.
You watch him approach you. The confidence oozing off him feels infectious. As if the whole room is pulsing to the beat of him. "Hey," he says as he slides down the booth to get closer to you. "Hi," you greet him, smiling, as you shoot him a little wave. “Never seen you before," his voice is smooth, steady, and perky enough to make you guess that he’s smirking beneath the mask. “Is that why you were staring?”, you ask, watching his eyes. He chuckles lightly before lifting his hands up, “Caught red-handed." And you can’t help but chuckle alongside him.
“I don’t know if you know...", iv starts after a moment. "Who you are?", you finish for him, and he visibly halts. Because that had been exactly what he was going to ask. “I do; I’m friends with Sam," you point to the man in question, who’s posing for a picture with a mask as well.
“Lucky son of a bitch," iv mutters, watching him for a moment before pulling his gaze back to you. A slight silence falls. “Join us for a drink," he says, nodding towards the table he came from. You gaze there, earning a salute from ii. iii just lifts his bottle up. It’s Vess, whose eyes you can’t see, but you know that they are set on you. “Is this a kidnapping?”, you look up at iv. “Most definitely," he nods, and you’re quick to follow his actions. “Alright then.”
It feels as if an unexpectedly found puzzle piece that fit to Vess as he watches you in the glass little pool. The mesh material of your dress is soaked and floating all around you. And the rain installation slowly turning from clear to pitch black. Drowning you out in darkness. “That’s it," he hears the director shout, “Look up." But Vessel doesn’t even look at the actual footage the camera is getting; his gaze is glued on you. An actual vision in front of him.
“She’s fucking good; you've got to give her that," ii mumbles as he too watches the shoot. All of them are here. They were never here for shit like this, but today they were almost first. “I need a picture with her; can we get her in some promo shit too?”, iii once again pushes the narrative he had been trying to shove down everyone’s throats the moment you agreed. “She might not want to," Vess trails off. “Have you asked?”, iii nudges him, like a kid who’s not getting the exact candy he was looking for.
“Can you get horny from watching someone…", iii changes his tone, but iv is quick to clasp a hand over his mouth. “If you make her feel weird, I will de-ball you myself," he hisses, giving him a little shove. The crew helps you step out before someone is quick to drape a dry towel over your shoulders. “Here to investigate your investment?”, you shoot them a smile, surprised to see them here. Mostly because everyone reassured you that they would not be here.
“I like to follow the process," Vessel blurts out. “Hope it’s up to your liking," you mutter right as he brushes the strand of hair away from your face. “More than exceeded my expectations." His words throw you off center for a heartbeat before a smile spreads across your face. “Mind taking more pictures?”, iv nods your way. Your shoulders sag lightly as you glance at the screen, “You don’t like these?” “Oh shit, not like that, I mean with us," he quickly adds. You look at them. Blinking slowly. “But you... you don’t take pictures like that," you frown slightly. You’ve read through the papers their management sent out this morning. There was the underlined part that said no content regarding bad members would be taken. “Just feel like changing shit up," Vess glances at the setup. “This won’t do, but I have an idea.”
What follows after that is a slight madman frenzy. You watch Vess explain exactly what he wants from the production team. Going as far as scribbling the placement of objects on paper. “Is he always like this?”, you ask after a moment. “Passionate?”, ii ask, and you’re quick to nod. “When inspiration strikes, yes," iii nods along. “He pretty much fell out of a second-floor bunk in the middle of the night once because a lyric came up in his head and he had nowhere to write it down." A chuckle slips from ii’s lips, and you can’t help but glance at him. Having him be so talkative feels like a gift in a way. “That’s beautiful," you muse, “loving something so much." The boys simply hum in response before the makeup and clothes department ushers them in.
“Vess will direct it from now; follow his lead; and don’t overthink it," the lady walking you back on stage, brushes your hand in reassurance. The place is a lot dimmer now. Yet the lights reflect off the water just as beautifully. There’s a drum set in the middle of the set, with extra support beams intact too. You frown slightly as you hand the tower off to your makeup artist. “Do you mind lying down?”, Vessel asks. “In the water?”, you ask, but Vess is quick to shake his head. “On the drums." You swallow, glancing at ii, who’s already standing by his seat. "Sure," you breathe out, stepping onto the rearranged platforms. His eyes follow your every move, and he’s quick to gesture to his chair, no doubt as a step stool for you to get on.
“Let me help you," ii says, taking hold of your hands before steadying your steps. “Won’t I break it?", you ask, looking at the drums. “It’s a fake; even if it breaks, it doesn’t matter." The smoothness of II's voice sends shivers down your spine as you step onto the drums before slowly lowering yourself down. ii’s hands stay nearby, you can feel their warmth but not their touch. Your eyes lock right as you sprawl out. Letting the top of your body bend over the set.
"Fuck." It’s so quiet and low that you’re sure you’ve imagined it. Someone warns you about the water before your body and the drums are drenched. “I’ll only hit the plates; don’t get spooked out," ii warns you, yet you don’t have a chance to answer. The drizzle picks up, you gaze up, meeting his eyes, and the sound around you erupts, alongside the flashes of the camera. It goes like that for a couple of minutes. It feels like forever and then a blink of your imagination. And then you’re being pulled back up. “Good?”, ii mutters. You nod, and he mimics your movement. “Good. It will be hard not to see you every time I look at my drums now," he admits before stepping aside, the prep team swarming all around you. Making your head dizzy.
Someone’s saying something about how sets with guitars will be less challenging, and you catch the sight of iii stepping on with a mask you hadn’t yet seen. “Scary?”, he chuckles. "No," you say, shaking your head, feeling slightly breathless. “It’s... mesmerizing." He lets out a low laugh. “That’s a first." And within a heartbeat, you’re sitting in the water with iii towering over you. Your hands are snaking up his legs and lower stomach as you arch your head up to watch his face. There’s no way to read his emotions. However, the vein in his neck says enough. You’re aware of the flashes, but it’s as if that part of reality is not there. iii’s body disappears after a while, and then he’s right there, inches from your face, leaning forward to look right at you.
iv strolls in almost immediately after. Sharing a look with iii as they pat each other on the shoulder. And then the man built on confidence is right in front of you. “Care for a cuddle?”, he muses, sitting down in the water and spreading his legs apart. You just stare at him. Feeling your head spin. “Do I need to sit you down?”, he shoots you a daring look, and you instantly sink to your knees. “You minx," he says, shaking his head, “Come on, lean against my chest." You follow his lead, sliding between his legs and letting your back rest against his chest. He pulls his guitar in front of you two. Your fingers slip onto his thighs, then slowly upon his arms and towards his guitar. Before you look up, to find his blue orbs watching you with unmatched insanity. “Get why you left II and III in shambles now," he says, ever so slightly brushing his masked lips against your ear.
You feel in a trance by the time you see Vessel standing behind his keyboard stand. “Do you mind?”, you’re not sure what exactly he’s referring to, but you shook your head. And then you instantly regret not asking because his hands are around your waist as he lifts you onto the keyboard. You let out a slight shriek, and his face instantly turns to you. “It’s okay, it’s okay; just didn’t expect that," you’re quick to reassure him. “Just do what feels natural," Vess mutters before turning to step in front of the keyboard. You pull one of your legs up, bending it beneath you, and turn slightly so you can face him better. His fingers move over the keys, head down. You watch him for a moment before slowly reaching out. Fingers brushing the exposed part of his face before ever so slightly inching beneath the mask as you turn his face towards you. Trying to figure out why a man of such talent and power wasn’t all that quick to take control.
“How much freaky is too freaky?”, you ask him. Vess crocks his head to the side before asking, “Have you seen us on stage?” You smirk, bring your other leg over the keyboard, spreading your legs enough to make room for Vessel to stand in between. “Own it then," you say, reaching for his hands, moving one to your hip and placing the other in the middle of your chest. “The question here is, what keys are you playing, Vess?” You stare right at him before leaning back. He’s quick to steady you. Leaving his hands where you had placed them before lifting the one resting on your chest up as if he’s pulling your soul out of your body, right as you arch your back. “Fucking vision, fucking sleep," Vess grunts under his breath, drinking in the sight of you.
The photograph shouts cut, and you let yourself breathe for a moment before holding onto Vessel’s forearms as you pull yourself up. “You are something else," he grunts, helping you down, and you can tell that his hands linger. “They do say that I’m good at what I do." You wink at him. “Wrapping four grown men around your finger, you mean?”, he smirks at you before nodding to the side. You glance up only to find three sets of eyes looking at you as if you had been a vision sent by god, or maybe the devil himself.

Vessels x gn reader
Sleeping with the vessels headcannons.
Under the cut <3
Vessel can be a lot. If it were up to him he would consume you entirely and then go right to sleep after. This man will not settle until you are pulled so closely into him that you almost become one being. Big on skin to skin contact. Just absolutely adores being able to feel you and your warmth completely against him. Expect every inch of your skin to be touched and held by him at some point before he’s even tired. He is so serious about this. Needs you to know how adored you are by him every second of the day, but this amplifies as he gets sleepy or relaxed. Can never truely believe that you’re his and he gets to share such quiet and intimate moments with you. The routine you share when preparing to lay down together. The fact he gets to lay with you at all is nothing less of a privilege to him. He feels beyond blessed every single time. He will press his entire face into the softest parts of your body and stay there. He’s found himself falling asleep lightyears quicker when he’s with you compared to when he’s sleeping alone. But he fights it. Every single time. He would rather throw himself into fire than miss being able to admire you for as long as possible, but the second he gets his hands on you his eyes are drooping and his head is heavy buried in your chest. His favourite part of napping with you is waking up afterwards. When you are both impossibly tangled up, so close you can’t tell where he ends and you start. When you’re warm and soft and still half asleep. No words are shared. But you say your hellos to each other by snuggling deeper and basking in the presence of the other.
II is secretly a cuddle bug. Really only lets himself succumb to it when he knows the two of you will not be interrupted. The doors are locked and the curtains are drawn and there’s not a soul on the planet that he will ever allow to get close enough to either of you during this time. Enjoys you close, and really enjoys when you fall asleep curled into him. He’d never admit it out loud but you’ve picked up on it, how he settles into the pillows when his arms are secured around you. How he manoeuvres your half asleep form around so your head is tucked under his chin. How he sleeps closest to the door of the bedroom. He only settles, truely settles, when he feels as if he’s protecting you. Always up long after you’ve fallen asleep. When you’re safely tucked underneath him. He lays awake for ages counting your breaths, studying your features, committing to memory how beautiful you are sound asleep with him. He falls asleep looking at you. But ii is extra cuddly in the morning. Especially when it’s cold. If you’re lucky enough to wake up before him, his hair is always an absolute mess and his face has ended up buried in your skin somewhere. He might wake up for a few minutes, when he allows himself to snuggle deeper, chasing your warmth and inevitably falling right back to sleep again. The world outside doesn’t exist to him when he’s in bed with you. His only concern being that you’re still there and warm and safe and secure with him. He lets you soak it up for as long as you can when he’s all soft and sleepy.
III completely refuses to sleep without you. He won’t do it. He does not care. Whether it be taking mid day naps, or if you’re out and about for the night without him. He will not sleep until you are next to him again. He can be stubborn when he wants to be, and he’s damn good at it too. Poor guy could be falling asleep standing up and he’d still force his eyes back open. He is just as clingy as Vessel is when it comes to you. Possibly even more so. His entire body is draped over your shoulder the whole way to the bedroom, face pressed into your neck and arms wrapped around you the entire time. When you finally get to the bed, it’s almost as if he’s forgotten his own height. He waits for you to settle in and then, quite literally, flops his whole body on top of yours. His face is pressed into you and his arms are around you and he’s out like a light immediately. He will not move. At all. The whole night. He will stay right there, as close to you as humanly possible, where he knows you can’t get up and leave either. He sleeps so deeply he will not wake up for anything, especially if he’s been unable to sleep for a little while, it’s like his brain can finally rest because you’re back in his arms again and it just completely switches off. His hands, if not around you, are holding onto you somehow. He likes burying a hand into your hair and pulling you closer to him. He’s all about closeness. All about contact. He’s very big on you two spending your time together. Whether he’s conscious for it or not. So long as your body is pressed against his, he’s happy. He will only move in the morning, after he’s woken up long enough, to shift you around and pull you on top of him. The weight of you on top of him is the best feeling in the morning. Loves watching you slowly wake up.
IV considers bed time to be the best part of the day. Crawling into bed with you after a long day, is something he can tell you he has become addicted to. He is big obsessed with you. The moment you pull those covers over yourself his hands are on you and he’s not letting go for anything. If you fall asleep before him, he absolutely lays awake and watches you for a while. He takes great comfort in being able to feel and see you next to him. His hands are under your shirt so he can feel your warm skin against his, and he’s conscious of every breath in and out of your lungs. Don’t you even think about trying to move away from him, he will trap you between his body and the mattress so you have nowhere to go don’t even test him. You do somehow get out of bed in the middle of the night? IV is following you through the house like a lost puppy. He could be in the deepest of sleeps but the second you’re not next to him anymore he’s up and awake in seconds. There’s been many times when he’s tried to blindly follow you through the dark while half asleep, ending up with big bruises on his body from running into the walls. Hold his hand and guide him back to bed. Be gentle with sleepy IV, he’s delicate. IV has attempted to wear your sleep shirt, with you still in it. The top stretched over his head as he slept quite peacefully with his head on your bare chest. Best sleep he had in ages. Will do it again.

Black Paint
Vessel x Fem!Reader
A/N: After almost a week of more i FINALLY finished this omg. sorry for all the teasing it just turned into way more of a beast to write this than i anticipated lol. Now that this is done though I have more of a horror oriented idea surrounding Vessel the character that I want to work on next. Hope you all enjoy! Word Count: 8.4k (oops) Warnings: none
--------------------------
The bar is busier than normal. You have to push the door rather roughly to not so politely get someone blocking it to move, and when you finally do make it inside, the air is thick with the smell of beer and warm bodies.
Great.
You grumble quietly to yourself as you wade through the mass of bodies, laughter and the loud din of conversation assaulting your ears as you approach the bar, a glimmer of hope flickering in your chest when you see your usual seat at the end is open. The bartender, Ryland, spots you immediately smiling at you as he gestures to the seat that is tipped forward onto the bar to signal its reservation.
He reaches forward as you finally reach your destination, tipping the chair back so it lands on all four legs and you slide into the well worn wooden seat. The patron to your left glances at you, eyes flitting from you, to the seat that you occupied, back to Ryland before dropping back to his glass.
You smile warmly at the bartender as you pull your scarf from around your neck.
“Thanks for saving it for me,” you say, talking about the seat. “I hope I didn’t put anyone out.”
Ryland shrugs already mixing your drink as his eyes flicking to your neighbor for just a brief moment before they return to you.
“Couldn’t leave my best customer without her seat,” he says kindly, his words making you feign an exaggerated wince.
“Ugh, Ry,” you groan, “you can’t keep calling me your best customer…it makes me sound like an alcoholic.”
Ryland laughs as he slides your already finished drink across the waxed wood bar top.
“Well…” you chuckle as you take the drink. “Maybe this is sign enough.”
Your friend shakes his head. “You’re not an alchoholic love, trust me,” he emphasizes. “You might be one of the most regulars, but having one drink a visit doesn’t mean that much. No AA for you yet.”
You raise your glass as you laugh, “Cheers to that.”
Ryland opens his mouth to respond but a shout from the end of the bar cuts him off and he rolls his eyes before sending you an apologetic look. “Duty calls, sorry.”
“I get it, go do your job. I’ll be here,” you assure him.
“Oh, I know.”
His words make you chuckle again as he rushes off to tend to more customers. Usually you spend most of your nights here at the pub after work talking to Ryland. It’s usually just you and maybe a handful of other people, also regulars. Tonight is different though, much busier, and you find yourself slightly disappointed you won’t get to chat much with him.
You shrug to yourself, reaching down to retrieve the book you’ve been reading from your bag. Might as well pass the time somehow, you drove all the way down here - no point in wasting the trip.
However, as you turn in your seat to reach your bag hanging on the back of your seat, you see a set of eyes on you. Your bar neighbor.
You ignore it at first, but then remember how he’d looked when Ryland revealed the seat he’d saved had been for you. Without thinking, you grab your book and lean over slightly to be heard over the loud atmosphere of the room.
“I hope I didn’t take this seat from someone who needed it,” you say quickly, “Did you need it for someone?”
The man shakes his head at your question, swirling the glass in his hand around idly.
“You’re good.”
His words are short, but you immediately take notice of the deep timbre of his voice.
You nod, taking his curt response as ‘back off’ and move to lean back into your bubble when he speaks again.
“You must be pretty important to have the bartender save your seat though,” he says, lips quirked up slightly. “Especially if you only ever get one drink.”
You let out a small scoff, waving him off. “Nobody important, trust me,” you say. “I’ve just been coming here for a while, and between you and me, I’m a generous tipper - I think that’s the only reason Ryland puts up with me.”
He smiles at that, closed lips pulling rather upward before he tilts his head back to finish off his drink. “That will do it,” he tells you before falling silent as he lifts up a hand to signal for another drink.
You follow the natural flow of conversation and let it end there as Ryland comes over to take the mans order, you turn back to your book.
You get through a few pages of your book, successfully able to tune out the noise around you but unsuccessfully able to turn out the stranger next to you. For whatever reason, you find your eyes flitting over to him more often then they should.
He’s handsome in a mysterious kind of way. You know you’ve never seen him in here before, so he’s not a regular. He’s not here with anyone either, just silently sipping his drink of choice and occasionally flicking through his phone. But otherwise he just seems to be…existing here. Head bobbing to whatever rock music is playing through the speakers eyes glancing around the room.
However, the one thing that seems to catch your eye most of all are his hands. He’s constantly fiddling with his glass, the several silver rings that adorn his fingers, clinking softly against the sides. But what piques your curiosity is the small flecks and smears of black on his knuckles and staining the ridges around his nails.
It looks like paint.
And before you can stop yourself, you find yourself asking,
“Are you an artist?”
This seems to pull the man from his reverie, eyes turning to meet yours in slight surprise.
You gesture to his hands when he doesn’t answer. “Sorry I just - It looks like paint. on your hands…”
He looks down at his hands, brows raising slightly as he lets go of his glass to absentmindedly pick at the stains. He chuckles as he does, the sound sending a pleasant flutter through your chest.
“You could say that,” he says vaugly.
“That’s cool,” you offer a bit lamely, your mind anxiously reeling for a way to continue.
You hold up your book. “I’m more of a consumer myself. You know…instead of the creator.”
God, what the fuck is wrong with you?
The man shakes his head, “I doubt that,” he says kindly. “Most people I know who read are the most creative out there.”
You shrug, “I guess that makes sense...” You trail off for a moment.
He obviously didn’t seem comfortable talking about what exactly he does since he avoided your question so you try to dance around it.
“How did you get into your…art?”
The man shrugs, starting to fiddle with his glass again. “I think…It started as a way to express myself I suppose. Most art does. Then I just never stopped. I think of it as an escape if that makes sense.”
You nod firmly, once again thumbing through your book.
“It does. I think that’s why I love reading so much…”
The conversation continues smoothly after that, the strangers seeming more open to talk as you both ramble on about everything and nothing. He asks you about what book you’re reading and you tell him, surprised to find he’s familiar with the author. You both just ramble on from things as simple as interests to eventually arguing about drinks of choice.
Soon enough you’re on your fourth drink - a first for you really - and laughing about some story he had told you about a friend of his.
“No way!” You exclaim through broken laughter, cheeks warm from both the alcohol and the sound of his laughter. “I don’t believe it.”
He shakes his head hand placed over his chest, “I swear it.”
“Oh my god that is…” your words devolve into more laughter as you take another sip of your drink.
Your new friend goes to speak again but cuts himself off as his phone buzzes on the bar top. His smile falls, only slightly, as his eyes scan the screen before he lets out a small sigh, Turing the screen off and tapping the phone against the solid wood beneath it.
“Duty calls,” he says ruefully, moving to stand as he pulls a pen from his pocket and scribbles something onto a dry drink napkin.
You sit up straighter now, fighting off the pang of disappointment as he starts to pull his jack on.
“Work?”
He shrugs, sending you another one of those half smiles. “Something like that,” he says before pulling out what is obviously way too much money for his two drinks and tucks it and the napkin beneath his glass.
“Get home safe,” he says, before turning to push his way through the mass of bodies.
“You too!” You call after him, hoping he heard you over the din of the room.
A low whistle catches your attention from where you watch the him exit the bar, and you turn to see Ryland has joined you once again. His eyes are bright as he looks at the empty place beside you, the cash and napkin in his hand as his eyes scan over it.
“What?” You ask, leaning forward to get a peek at the note.
Ryland sends you a wicked grin. “Seems like someone made a good impression,” he chuckles, shwoing you the napkin. “Your tab is payed for, love.”
‘For the lady’s drinks as well. keep the rest.’
The handwriting was surprisingly neat, a mix between print and cursive as it flows across the delicate paper. You glance back up at Ryland as he whistles again.
“Damn good tipper too, at that,” he admires. “Hope he comes back.”
It’s then, as your friend is drooling over his tip and you glance back down at the note in you hand that your realize it.
You never even learned his name.
· · ─ ·𖥸· ─ · ·
It’s several types typical days at the bar before you see him again, and to say you’re surprised is an understatement. It had been almost a week since the night you met him, and you had resigned yourself to the fact that you’d probably never see him again.
So, when you walk into the much calmer bar tonight, your eyes don’t search the room. Instead you make a beeline to your usual seat, waving at Ryland as you do. You hand barely meets the wooden back of the tall chair before a high pitched whistle sounds from behind you, turning several heads in the pub, including yours.
You csilently curse the way your heart leaps in your chest as you find the source, a familiar face raises a glass from a booth in the back before waving you over. However, unlike last time, he’s not alone. There are three other guys sitting with him at the table, all eyes on you as you glance from them, back to your usual seat, before falling to Ryland.
Your friend, who stands in front of you now gives you a scathing look. “Girl if you sit down in the chair I just might kick you out. Go,” he points to the table before walking off.
You can’t stop the chuckle that leaves your lips as you listen to him, hand falling from your familiar place in order to walk towards the back table.
The stranger from before assess you as you approach, eyes trailing from your face to your feet then back up again, and you can’t stop the shiver that runs up your spine at the action.
“Didn’t think I’d see you again,” he says, taking a sip of his drink.
You give him a confused look. “I did tell you I was a regular here right?” You ask. “I should be the one saying that about you.”
He smiles, “Oh I didn’t forget,” he assures you. “How could I forget this place’s best customer?”
“Oi, quit flirting and let the lady sit down!” One of the other guys at the table interrupts, leaning over from his place next to you to push out the last free chair as he looks at your strange companion. “You haven’t even introduced us.”
At the mention of an introduction, the man seems to freeze, as if he too realizes just like you did last time, that you never exchanged names.
“Well…Uh, this is-”
You interject quickly with your name, sticking your hand out to the one who had pulled out the chair for you. He laughs at your formal greeting and playfully swats your hand away as he stands.
“We’re the hugging type I’m afraid, but-” he pulls you into a quick hug before ushering you into your seat, “It’s nice to meet you. I’m iv”
You look at him puzzled for a moment, as you take your seat, spotting closer to the table.
“Four like… like the number?” You ask, unable to keep the surprise out of your voice.
The man laughs, as if he expected that reaction and nods.
“You heard right. I’m iv,” he gestures to the man to his right, who has shorter white hair, “This here’s iii, and that-” he points to the man sitting next to your friend, “is ii. And well, you already know Ves.”
Your slight confusion must show on your face as laughter erupts from the table, the boys nudging one another as they all pause to take sips from their various drinks. The one named iii waves his hand in a dismissive manner, shaking his head.
“It’s a bit of an…inside joke I guess. Nicknames we gave each other that just kind of stuck,” he explains.
You nod at his explanation, still perplexed but accept it nonetheless. And plus, now you know the name of the mystery man from last visit.
Ves.
You wonder if that is some sort of nickname too.
However, you don’t dwell too long on that fact before the conversation last time with Ves comes to the front of your mind. With brows drawn together, you lean over slightly towards Ves, pointing a wandering finger towards the other three guys.
“Wait, so was one of them the one that went streaking through the park after a night of drinking?”
The grin that splits Ves’ face is all you need to know the answer as a cacophony of groans and loud protests erupt from the table. But it’s not until iii slaps his hands on the table as he leans forward with a betrayed look on his face.
“Ves, really man? We promised we’d take that shit to the grave! Why are you out here dissing me like that?”
The only response iii gets is a laugh from Ves and soon the other guys follow, elbowing their friend and tossing teases across the table, and before you know it, you join in too.
***
The night goes on much like that, more stories of their wild times together coming to light, and they even get you to spill some more embarrassing, albeit funny, memories from your college days. Its through these conversations that you determine the must have been friends for a while, and you smile at the thought of what other antics they could get up too.
This time, and idle chatter also reveals something else to you.
More black paint.
It’s still apparent on Ves’ hands like last time, although it looked like he tried to do a better job of scrubbing it away. The same couldn’t be said be said for the other guys. The dark pigment adorns their skin in small amounts much the same way as it did Ves’ the first time you met him. It’s mainly prominent on the ridges of their knuckles and fingernails, sometimes on their wrists when you can see the skin form where their shirts or jackets ride up. You even notice a particularly larger smear on the side of ii’s neck when he lens back to laugh particularly hard at some lame joke you said.
It’s probably nothing, they probably all work together, it would make sense. But no matter how many times you try to ignore it, your curiosity won’t let it slide.
And ii notices. Probably from when you let your eyes linger on him a bit too long when you noticed the paint.
He takes a swing of his beer before gesturing to you with the glass. “Alright, out with it,” he says casually, “I know I’m attractive but nobody stares at me like that.”
iii reaches across the table and swats at his shoulder. “Oi, don’t be so full of yourself mate-”
iv joins in on the banter. “Yeah, we all know I’m the best looking-”
Playful banter breaks out at this, the lot of them seeming to forget about the question ii even asked you, and in the break from the spotlight, you eye drift over to Ves.
Only to see him already looking at you, a pensive look on his face.
Heat rushes to your cheeks and you look away quickly, reaching for your glass to take another drink as your eyes fall to your watch.
Holy shit, it’s late.
You let out a small huff, quickly downing the last of your drink before setting the glass back on the table with a soft thunk.
“I have to head out,” you say, turning to gather your purse before moving to stand.
The announcement brings out a chorus of protests and pleas to stay but you shake your head.
“I don’t know what you all do for work but I have to be up in...” You look exaggeratedly at your watch, “oh five hours, so with that-” you reach into your purse and pull out several larger bills, laying them on the table, “Drinks are on me tonight as a thank you for a lovely evening.”
More protest follow, but you wave them off and before you know it the three guys you met earlier are out of their seats and giving you hugs as if you’ve known them for years, murmurs of ‘see you around’ and ‘drive safe’ meeting your ears before they back off.
Then, Ves’ is in front of you before you can blink, and it’s only now that you seem to realize just how huge he is. Well, in reality, he’s not the tallest person you’ve ever seen but he still towers over you and has a…presses about him you can’t seem to place.
You look up at him and smile as he holds your coat up in his hands, having retrieved it from the back of your seat before you could. He helps you as you slip your arms through the sleeves, and you turn back to him, smile still tugging at your lips.
“Thanks.”
Ves nods, shoving his hands in his pockets.
“I can walk you to your car,” he offers, nodding to the windows. “It’s dark.”
You shake your head in an automatic response, “You don’t have to do that-”
Ves’ is steering you towards the door before you can finish, “I insist.”
The boys call out their goodbyes as you leave, and Ves just chuckles as you make for the door.
“They liked you,” he says as he pushes open the door, holding it for you until you’re both out in the crisp night air.
You laugh, turning right to head towards your car parked just down the street.
“I liked them too, they’re a riot,” you say fondly. “I can see why you’re all friends. They seem like good people.”
Ves smiles softly at this, nodding his agreement. “They are - basically saved my life a time or two.”
A silence falls over you too then, neither of you sure what to say as you lead him further down the sidewalk, your car now in view. The only sound is the soft thudding of shoes on concrete and your own breathing.
Your over active mind races for something to fill the silence, but you reach your destination before you can think of anything, and you try to swallow the disappointment you feel as your night draws to a close.
“Well,” you say, pulling out your keys, “this is me.”
You turn to face Ves, your back to your car as he stops just a few steps from you, closer than would be considered normally appropriate.
Not that you’re complaining.
He looks down at you again, features obscured by the shadows casted by the street lamps. But he seems to be studying you, that curious tilt to his head making your heart stutter slightly.
“It was nice to see you again,” he says finally, voice gentle in the quiet night.
“It was nice to see you too,” you say, tugging your bottom lip between your teeth in a moment of contemplation. “I had been looking for you. Before tonight.” You admit.
His brows raise at that, slight surprise painting his features.
“Really?”
You chuckle, “Yeah. I remembered after you left that we never even learned each others names and…it was silly. But I’m glad I got to see you again.”
Ves smiles at your words just a small gust of wind blows though, sending a shiver through you as part of your scarf falls down from around your neck. He reaches up instinctively to adjust the fabric, his knuckles brushing the underside of your jaw as he tugs it back into place.
“Well,” he breathes, “Maybe we’ll see each other again.”
You’re looking up at him again, closer than ever and you can barely muster the weak ‘yeah’ that falls from your lips, before his hand drops back to his side.
“Have a good night, love.”
And then he’s walking back towards the pub.
Your mind is racing again, and like a total dumbass you blurt the first thing that comes to your mind.
“Baby oil!” You call out, stopping the tall man in his tracks as he turns to send you a very confused look.
“For the paint,” you clarify, gesturing to your own hands. “Baby oil gets paint off pretty good. Better than soap and water.”
Ves smiles, and just nods turning back to continue his journey.
But even from this far away, the silent night allows you to hear that deep laughter slip from his lips.
· · ─ ·𖥸· ─ · ·
Today was one of the bad days.
Everyone has them, you know they do, today is just your turn, you suppose. You don’t have many of them, or at least - you don’t go to the pub when you do. But even Ryland notices your dour mood, noticing right away when you by pass your usual seat without so much as a wave in favor of picking the tiny booth at the very back of the establishment.
He only offers a small pat on the shoulder as he drops off your usual drink, muttering a quiet offering of solidarity before walking back off.
It feels stupid. To be this upset when nothing even really happened. Your car didn’t break down, you didn’t have a partner dump you, you didn’t get laid off, it’s just-
The tears seem to come without warning. Burning at the back of your eyes, lower lip wobbling in an attempt to stop the onslaught of tears and the sob clawing at your chest.
Get it together!! You scream at yourself, frustration further fueling the tears.
Life just sucks sometimes for no particular reason it seems.
Work is overwhelming, your hobbies aren’t interesting, your house too quiet it seemed to scream at you instead of comfort you.
You take a sip of your drink, wiping furiously at the tears that escape as you do so.
You’re thankful you chose the booth seat facing away from everyone. How embarrassing to be a caught in a pub crying over -
“Fancy seeing you here.”
The all to familiar voice shocks you from your own mind and you jump in your seat, making the mistake of looking over your shoulder to see none other than Ves.
“Oh my god,” you mutter wiping hastily at your cheeks as you watch his lips turn downwards in concern.
“What’s wrong?” He asks, coming closer despite your inner desire for him to leave.
You shake your head, wiping your nose for good measure as you stare down into your drink.
“Nothing,” you say, voice clogged with emotion. “Don’t worry about it.”
You take a deep breath, trying to steady yourself when you realize he’s sliding in the booth across form you. Plastering on a watery smile you clutch your glass between your hands as you look at him.
“I didn’t expect to see you here,” you try to say casually, but fail miserably.
Ves just shakes his head, eyes soft as he rests his clasped hands on the table before him.
“You don’t have to do that,” he tells you, “not with me.”
“Do what?” You say, lip trembling again as your tears bubble up once more.
“Pretend you’re okay, when you’re not.”
The laugh you let out is a bitter thing, small and broken by the tears that drip from your eyes that you wipe away again and again.
Ves doesn’t say anything as you try to compose yourself again, but you find yourself unable to, and he eventually stops you from fruitlessly wiping away tears by reaching up to take one of them in his own.
“What’s wrong?” He asks again, somehow even gentler than before.
All you can do is shrug, tears salty against your tongue as you lick your lips.
“Nothing, really,” you say again, continuing when he looks like he’s going to argue.
“I’m just…sad. Don’t know why.”
Ves nods understandingly, thumb swiping comfortingly over your knuckles. He doesn’t say anything. Maybe because he doesn’t know what to say or maybe because he knows it won’t really matter. Either way you appreciate his presence - it’s nice to know someone is here, even if no words are shared.
After a few quiet moments, he grabs a drink napkin with his free hand, offering it to you.
You take it, fingers brushing his own and notice something that takes your mind off of your own turmoil.
“The paint’s gone,” you say softly, turning his hand over to inspect it.
You glance up only to see Ves’ lips twitch upwards ever so slightly.
“Baby oil,” he says, “who knew?”
His words make you let out a soft chuckle, and he joins in, his hand never leaving yours.
And suddenly, you’re not so sad anymore.
· · ─ ·𖥸· ─ · ·
Laughter bubbles up from your chest as you and the boys spill out of the bar into the cold night air. Your breaths materializing in front of you in puffs of white steam. iii is hanging of off iv’s shoulder, doubled over in laughter at something that someone said - you can’t even keep track of the conversation anymore, laughter cutting most of it off anyways.
However, after a few more long moments of racouys laughter, iii perks up brows raised slightly as he looks to you.
“Holy shit I almost forgot,” he says, letting got go iv to address you now. “You’re coming tomorrow night right?”
You send him a quizzical look before looking over to Ves where he stands next to you, only to see him waving his hand in front of his throat in a ‘cut it out’ motion, stopping abruptly when you catch him.
“Go where?” You ask, curiosity piqued.
You watch as ii rolls his eye, “Come on Ves,” he groans. “We already decided to extend the invitation.”
You hear Ves let out a huff, running a hand through his hair as you speak up again, confusion turning into annoyance.
“What are you guys talking about?” You ask, exasperation lacing your words.
It’s iv who speaks up this time, wrapping an arm around iii.
“There’s a concert tomorrow,” he says grinning. “We have an extra ticket and wanted you to come.”
“A concert?” You ask, turning to Ves only to see an almost imperceptible blush tinging his cheeks. “Why are you so worked up about a concert?”
Ves huffs again, shaking his head as he digs around the inside of his jacket for something. “I’m not worked up,” he grumbles, finally finding what he was searching for and pulling it out. “I just-”
II interrupts Ves with a clap on the shoulder and a shit eating grin on his face. “He’s just mad because he wanted to be the one to ask you.”
Ves shrugs his hand off his shoulder and lands a playful punch to his friends arm, mumbling something about being a prick and he’d pay for that later, before he turns to you, offering you what you realize now is a small badge attached to a lanyard.
“Here,” he says, softer than when he addressed iv. “It’s VIP, just show up an hour before show time and they’ll tell you where to go.”
You take it from him, the black lanyard soft beneath your fingers as you examine the item. The badge is sturdier than you expected, seeming to be made of metal instead of plastic. it’s all black with a red symbol you’ve never seen before printed on both sides the name of the band printed just beneath it with the words ‘VIP PASS’ below that. The lanyard itself is black with white lettering echoing the same as the badge.
Sleep Token.
Huh. You’ve never heard of them before, but that doesn’t surprise you as you haven’t been a huge music buff most of your life. Then, as if Ves’ words finally register with you, you look up at him again, brows pinched in confusion once more.
“Wait. They’ll show me where to go - are you guys not coming with me?” You ask, “Because this ticket it wasted on me if you guys don’t come, I don’t even know the band-”
“Oh we’ll be there,” iii laughs from his place next to iv.
The boys all laugh at his words, leaving you feeling utterly left out of some inside joke they have. But before you can get to worked up about it, a warm hand reaches out to take your own that holds the pass.
“Don’t worry about them,” Ves says, rolling his eyes. “Give me your phone.”
You comply without really thinking about it, watching as the much taller man takes it from you and types something into it before handing it back.
“There. I put in my number, just text me when you get there tomorrow and we’ll find each other.”
You nod, stomach fluttering as your fingers brush his when you take your phone back and pocket it.
“Sounds good.”
ii claps his hands together, seemingly satisfied with tonights events. “Alight, now that’s settled we probably need to get going. Big day tomorrow boys!”
The rest of the group whoops in agreement, grouping together as they head down the sidewalk, only Ves lingering behind at your side. Only when he gestures towards your car down the street do you realize he wants to walk you there.
“Oh, right,” you say, chuckling softly as warmth rushes to your cheeks.
You’ve been getting unusually flustered around him lately, unable to control the fluttering in your chest when he’s around.
It’s silent for a moment before you break it, gesturing with the pass to the guys ahead.
“This must be some band for them to be this excited about it.”
Ves laughs at that, an actual laugh deep from his chest instead of the usual soft chuckles he gives you.
“Yeah, they…You could say it’s a huge part of our lives,” he says.
You hum softly, looking back down at the pass.
“Well then, I’m sure I’ll like them if you all enjoy them this much. Ill try to listen to some of their songs on the way home-”
“No!” Ves interjects, voice loud on the quiet street as you both come to a stop in front of your car.
He clears his throat when you give him a withering look, caught off guard by his outburst.
“I just…” he begins, “they’re best live,” he tells you, rubbing the back of his neck. “Promise you won’t listen to them before the concert tomorrow.”
His eyes seem to be pleading with you, and you can’t find it in you to deny him despite your curiosity.
“Okay…I’ll wait until tomorrow.”
Ves sighs, relief evident in the way his shoulders drop ever so slightly, and before you can even blink his face is right next to your own, warm lips pressing quickly to your cheek before he’s back out of your space, grinning like a fool.
“Good. See you tomorrow night.”
And all you can do is stare, stunned silly, as he jogs to catch up with his friends.
You only realize when you pull into your driveway that you never got the location of the concert, or the start time at the same exact moment your phone pings with a message. It’s from an unknown number but lists an address and a time, followed quickly by a second less cryptic message.
Hope you got home safe. See you tomorrow.
-V
* * * *
Even though you get to the concert venue an hour early like Ves told you too, it’s already packed. You almost don’t find parking until you get lucky with a street spot a few blocks over. When you finally make it to the entrance the line is down the block and seems to keep going. You look around for a line labelled for VIP, anything to tell you where to go, but all you see is the sign pointing to the long line for general admission.
You pull your phone from your pocket, pulling up Ves’ number to shoot him a quick text.
‘Hey! I’m here but I don’t see a sign for VIP…where are you guys?’
You wait less than a minute before a response comes through.
‘V: We’re running way later than expected. Find an attendant, they should be able to point you in the right direction.’
You huff at the message anxiety gnawing at your mind as you bit your lip. Late? You don’t know anything about this band or this venue, you don’t really want to go in without them-
“Miss?”
A voice behind you makes you jump, turning to see a younger looking man with tattoos put his hands up in mock surrender as he chuckles. He’s wearing a t-shirt with the same logo as your lanyard.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to frighten you,” he says kindly, gesturing to your lanyard. “You’ve got a VIP pass. I can get you to where you need to go.”
“Oh,” you say, looking down to the pass hanging around your neck. “Yeah I was just texting my friend about where to go I don’t…” you hesitate for a moment. “I’ve never been to one of these before.”
The man smiles, holding a hand out as he gestures for you to follow him towards a side entrance to the venue.
“That’s alright. In your defense we don’t have the best signage for VIP’s,” he chuckles. “We don’t get many of them.”
Surprise tugs at your chest at his words.
“You don’t?” You ask, “My friends are supposed to meet me here, will they know where to go?”
The man chuckles at this, eyes glimmering with mischief as he looks over to you before opening the door to head inside.
“I think they’ll be fine.”
You follow him inside the venue and marvel at the gargantuan space as he shows you around. The stage is set up, lights on but not moving and the bands logo projected onto the back wall of the stage. The venue looks big enough to hold thousands of people. The floor closest to the stage is void of seats, allowing for people to stand up close to the stage while stadium like seats art up about half way back and up all around the room.
“So this is it,” He says as he brings you up to the side of the front of the stage on the floor, right next to the barricade in a small roped off section separating you from the rest of the open floor seating. “They’re going to be letting GA in here in a few minutes and concert starts soon after that,” he extends his hand to you. “My name’s Sam by the way, if you need anything don’t hesitate to ask someone.”
You smile, your nerves from earlier dissipating slightly at the thought of knowing someone here as you take his hand.
“Thanks, Sam.”
He smiles back, before his phone buzzes in his hand. He looks down at it before waving it in the air slightly.
“Duty calls. Enjoy the concert!”
And then he’s gone, leaving you alone in the big empty room waiting for your friends.
* * *
‘Ves, where are you guys???’
Your text has gone unread for several minutes, but your nerves are at an all time high as the room around you continues to fill with excited concert goers. The doors had opened half an hour ago and the room was already packed to the brim, people who had floor seats rushing in to be the first at the barricades as the start time drew closer.
You send another hurried text, looking around you in hopes that Ves and the guys would show up any second.
‘The concert is about to start!’
For a brief moment, dread settles in the pit of your stomach. What if this is some cruel joke being played on you. What if they bailed last minute and decided not to come, leaving you here by yourself. An ache settles in your chest as the fleeting memory of lips agasint your chilled cheek flashes before your eyes and you go to send another text.
‘Ves…please tell me you guys are coming.’
As if on command, the room around you goes pitch black, the crowed around you erupting into a deafening roar as the stage lights slowly come to life with the sounds of harsh guitar strings flooding through the speakers.
You phone lights up with a text message.
‘V: We’re right here’
The crowds roar around you continues to crescendo as the music flows from the speakers, the blue lights on the stage illuminating a sole figure emerging in the center of the stage to greet the adoring crowd as the drums behind him explode in a rhythmic beat.
You don’t have time to try to direct Ves’s message, your attention draw and held captive by the presence now on stage.
They approach the front of the stage, just mere yards from you where a microphone stand sits, and you’re immediatly observing the sight in front of you. It’s a man, that you’re now sure of. He moves to the beat, the black cloak he wears billowing out behind him. He’s not wearing a shirt but any skin that would be showing is covered in black paint - from the portion of his face not hidden by a hood and face mask to his chest and right down to the fingers now wrapping around the microphone.
The mask is obviously the most striking thing. White with a red symbol of the band painted on the front, missing the lower half to leave his mouth free to sing.
Which he does.
The vocalist starts to sing into the microphone, a song unfamiliar to you, but no less enchanting as a streak of familiarity zings though you. His voice sounds familiar in a far off distant way - and for a moment you wonder if you have heard this band before somewhere.
Without really thinking, you find yourself swaying to the beat, foot tapping against the ground as the bas reverberates through the room. Your eyes flit from the lead singer to another figure you see drifting across the stage, guitar slung over his shoulders as he plays.
He’s also masked, visible skin inked in black and the suit jacket he wears having a hood pulled up over his head.
In fact, all the members of the band wear masks with any visible skin painted black. From the drummer to the back up singers to the other bass guitarist now waltzing along the stage towards the section your standing in. You notice as he get’s closer that he’s the only one not wearing a hood, his ash white hair flipping this way and that as he moves to the beat.
As if sensing your specific gaze on him, the bass player looks up from his guitar strings to where you stand, and sends you a playful wink before turning back the way he came, all but swaggering off.
It all seems to click into place in an instant, your eyes going wide as they flick from the shock of white hair back up to the lead singer, who’s now pulled the microphone from the stand and walking to your side of the stage, never missing a single word of the song.
He stops right in front of where you stand, an the crowd behind you goes wild as he reaches out towards them, before bringing just slightly to look directly at you, sending you an almost imperceptible smile before he’s up and back the way he came.
You can’t stop the laughter that erupts from your lips as realization sets in, you finally push past your confusion to join the crowd in jumping and clapping and trying your best to sing along to songs you’ve never heard before.
It feels like you blink and the entire time passes by going from upbeat high energy songs to slower more emotionally charged ones. You find yourself completely drawn into the whole experience, especially on the soft songs, and you can tell that parts of himself were poured into them when they were written.
In no time the concert is drawing to a closer the last notes of the set flowing through the speakers as the crowd erupts into more deafening screams and cheering as Ves’ bows thankfully to the arena. You just barely manage to catch it as he looks over to you, turning and placing his hands together in a ‘thank you’ motion before you feel a gentle hand on your elbow. You turn to find Sam, the one who lead you in earlier, gesturing off to the side of the stage.
“Come with me!” He calls, struggling to be heard over the crowd.
You nod, casting one last glance over your shoulder before you’re lead out of the main arena to the backstage area.
“So, what did you think?” Sam asks, genuine curiosity lacing his words.
You smile wide, adrenaline still coursing through you from the excitement.
“It was amazing! I’m just sad I didn’t know the songs…”
Sam let out a small laugh, “Well, I’m sure you’ll have plenty of time to learn them all someday,” he says before coming to a stop in front of a door towards the back of the backstage area. “You can wait in here. Vessel and the others should be by shortly.”
Vessel…
You don’t have time to dwell on the name reveal as Sam opens the door and ushers you inside and barely has time to close it behind you before a round of raucous laughter and cheers assault you as three of your four friends all but jump you as you enter.
You laugh and hug them all, noticing that their masks are now gone, replaced with the familiar faces you recognize, just streaked with black paint.
“I can’t believe you guys!” You exclaim once the noise dies down a little bit. “Why didn’t you just tell me you were in a band?”
iii waves a dismissive hand at you, moving to plop back into the couch in the center of the room. “Where’s the fun in that?” He teases, taking a water bottle that iv hand him.
“Yeah,” iv agrees, taking a seat by iii, “it’s all part of the fun, love.”
You roll your eyes, turning youthful attention to ii who has yet to say anything from his place propped agains the edge of the couch. When he notices your eyes on him, he throws his hands up in surrender.
“Don’t look at me, I was the one who wanted to tell you. These blokes,” his eyes shift to look at something behind you, “and him - outvoted me.”
You turn to face the object of ii’s attention, only to be met with a familiar towering form, the white and red mask still in place. Now that you’re able to see him up close, you can’t help the way your eyes roam. He truly is imposing like this - not in a bad way - but he seems to take on a different persona adorned in the costume. You take note of the paint still on his skin, but noticeably patchier from where it rubbed off or has dripped away due to the thin sheen of perspiration coming through. And from this close, you’re able to fully see the mask he wears, the intricate details and the way the eye holes are formed to create the illusion of there being 3 sets of eyes instead of just two.
There’s so many thoughts running through your head, yet the only thing that you’re brain manages to verbalize is a very simple, and quiet -
“Hi.”
Ves chuckles at this, the sound low and deep as it reverberates through his chest.
“Hi,” he mimics before casting a glance behind you.
He must have silently communicated with the other guys because you soon hear rustling behind you as the al stand and start to move towards you, and thus the exit. They all murmur quick goodbyes to you, telling you and Ves to come find them later and you al can go out for drinks again, until eventually it’s just you and Ves alone in the room.
Neither of you have moved and you can feel a certain tension in the air that either of you have left to break. Until you finally work up the courage to speak.
“So…Vessel?”
The word comes out as a question, and you watch silently as he lets out a small huff, lips quirking upward in a small smile.
“I figured ‘Ves’ was a more socially acceptable way of introducing myself,” he jokes, reaching up to tap the mask. “Despite what you might think, I don’t try to scare people away.”
He pauses for a moment, hands clenching at his sides slightly before he speaks again.
“So…what do you think?”
You can’t help but perk up at his question, flashes of the concert coming back to you immediately as you practically bounce on your toes.
“What do I think?” You repeat, exasperated. “Ves, that was amazing! I might not have known the songs that well but it was phenomenal…”
Your words come out faster than you can really control, rambling on about everything you loved about the concert and their music. You’re so caught up in recalling the recent events that you fail to notice as Ves moves ever closer to you, eliminating the space between you both.
“And then when you were on the piano and singing that song I could just tell that you poured your heart into it and it reminded me of that night at the bar when I was upset and you -”
Your words are cut off before you can continue, large calloused hands cradling your cheeks as warm lips capture your own in a kiss that takes your breath away. You barely even notice the way the mask he wears presses into your cheek until one of his hands leave your skin in order to pry the offending article up and off his head, lips breaking from yours only momentarily before kissing you once more.
You hands fall to his sides instinctively, skin warm beneath your palms as your try to pull him closer. He obliges your request by moving to wrap an arm around your waist, holding you too him until he eventually breaks the kiss, resting his forehead against your own as you both struggle for breath.
“You are truly amazing,” he says softly, brushing a stray piece of hair from your face.
You pull away from him then, just enough to look up and capture his gaze with your own, heat flooding your cheeks.
“You’re one to talk,” you jest lightly, reaching up to wipe at the pain smudged on his cheeks.
“Never in a million years would I have guessed you literally cover yourself in paint. I thought you were a painter!” You exclaim.
Vessel laughs at that, eyes crinkling at the corners as he does so.
“Well, I guess technically I am a painter-”
“Not what I meant,” you argue, reaching up to wipe at something tickling your cheek.
Vessel reaches up and grabs your hand before you can wipe your cheek again, eyes widened slightly.
“Stop, you’ve got paint…”
You glance at your hand in his, only to see black paint smeared over your palms from where you’d touched him earlier.
“Here,” he says, reaching up to wipe at the smudge you assume is now on your face.
However, his nose scrunches up as he does so. “Oh…” he tries to wipe it again. “I - I’m just not helping at all really-”
You dissolve into a fit of giggles as you imagine him just smearing more paint around in an effort to clean it up, and he soon joins in before reaching grabbing the corner of his cloak to use instead.
He takes your chin between his fingers, tilting your head to one side as he used the piece of fabric to delicately wipe away the traces of paint. His eyes trial over your features as he works, taking you in until he eventually drops the fabric back to his side in favor of cradling your face in his hands once more.
“I really want to kiss you again,” he whispers, eyes shimmering with mischief.
You smile.
“Then what are you waiting for?”
And then his lips are on yours, and you couldn’t be happier for that busy night at the bar all those weeks ago.

Realised I haven't posted in a tad but I knew I had one sleeptoken draft and HOLY SHIT was I ovulating when I wrote this drabble????
needy vessel :((
vessel truly just has sooooo much love for you. After months and months of pining and writing songs he finally asks you out and you consume his waking days for eternity. You're all he ever thinks about.
Imagine the pure distress on that man's face when their manager tells them you can't tag along this tour. Utter despair. It's the end of the world.
he'd give up everything for you.
even when he's buried neck deep in work, the moment you step foot in the studio with food, he's so sweet to you. Letting you sit on his lap while he tells you about the lyrics he wrote specifically for you :((
He plans to marry you, get down on one knee somewhere private with a small beach wedding. Wants a big house and 3 kids. He's already got his vows written. Preparing for the day he can recite them with his head between your legs.

Oh my god, they were roommates
Vessel x fem reader
Description: he's annoyed by you. You learn how he really feels.
Warnings: semi sexual?, making out, cursing, mentions of blood, angst, fluff
"Blah, blah, blah. Always bitching about something." Ves smiles at you from his bed.
"Just fix the fucking washing machine." You roll your eyes.
"You do it." He retorts.
You fold your arms and lean on his doorframe. "You know I don't know how."
"Stop breaking it, then. It doesn't need that much detergent." He growls and stands up, pushing past you.
"Blah, blah, blah. Always bitching about something." You bite back.
God, being his roommate, can be so challenging. He's nice when he wants to be. Yes, granted, you don't know how to do a lot of the things that he can. For example, change a tire, fix appliances, and you're JUST a GIRL. You've known him and the band for a couple of years now through your friend, ii. You know their faces, and you didn't know they were sleep token until you had to share a place with Ves. You have vowed to keep their secret. Oh yes, Ves is sexy as fuck. You have always thought that, but he can't stand you because of your girly personality.
You sit in the living room, waiting on him to finish. You hear rummaging in the laundry room. Then, a loud noise, "Shit!"
You scramble to your feet and make your way to him. You see him against the wall with a gigantic gash in his hand. Blood is pouring. "Ves!" You stand in front of him and take his wrist.
"UGH, I got my hand caught in the back of it." He doesn't fight your touch to his wrist.
"Damn it. Let me help you." You take his arm and start to walk him toward the bathroom.
He jerks himself from you. "I'm fine. I don't need any help. But we need a new washing machine." He swallows and looks down at you.
You huff and look at the ground in guilt. He hurt his hand because of your mistake. This is the second time it has broken. "Can I please help you?" You look up at him, a lump in your throat.
He notices how upset you look. He nods his head. "Yeah." He walks into the bathroom where you guys keep the medicines and stuff. He sits on the edge of the bathtub.
You open the mirror and dig around. "Is it deep enough for stitches?" You grab the peroxide.
"No. Not even close." He chuckles.
You sit on the ground in between his legs. You take his hand and hold a washcloth under it. You pour the peroxide to clean it up. The blood washes down, and you see it's deep but not too bad. He watches your every move. He notices how gentle you are. You spread some gel stuff on it and wrap it up. You stand up and put away the material. Vessel sits there and squeezes his hand.
"Thank you." You hear him say.
You turn and face him. "I'm sorry for being a shit roommate." You reply.
"You're not." He says sternly. "Plus, the washing machine needed to be replaced anyway." He smiles.
"Yeah.. I'll buy it." You walk out of the bathroom and go in your room. You plop on your bed and try to forget about how guilty you feel.
---
"Good morning!" A booming voice wakes you up. "It's approximately twelve in the afternoon, and it's show time!"
You look to see a snickering Ivy holding a megaphone. "What the fuck, bro?" You groan.
"Just wanted to let you know he'll be gone and that we'll be at a show." He smiles.
"Alright. Good luck to you guys!" You yawn and smile.
"You want to come with?" He speaks through the megaphone again.
You cringe. "I will if you stop using that thing."
You get ready and get in the van with the band. iii is driving. Vessel is sitting in the passenger seat while you and the other two are in the back, hanging on for dear life.
"Yo, Ves. What happened to your hand?" ii looks over the seat.
"I got it stuck trying to fix the washing machine." He replies.
You look down at your hands, feeling stupid and guilty again. You feel ii nudge into you.
"What's wrong?" He asks quietly. If anyone in this band knows you, it's him. He's known you as a friend for the longest.
Should you confess? He keeps secrets. You know he won't tell. You know! But you're too scared. "I feel bad because I broke it." You whisper.
He gently pats your back. "You're all good, hon. Don't beat yourself up. He's a smart guy. He can handle a bit of pain, too. Kinky motherfucker." He jokes to make you feel better.
You laugh a little bit at what he said.
You guys make it to the place where they're performing. You sit backstage on the couch, scrolling through your phone. The guys are in their rooms getting ready. You can hear their loud ass laughter. They're being rowdy. They get like this before shows. A bunch of boys, lol.
"Y/n! I need your help!" You hear ii call out.
"Lord. Coming!" You call out. You walk through the hall and find the door with his name on it. You enter the room and see he's trying to put his hair on right with the band of the mask behind his hand.
"I'm struggling. I need to look hot for the boys and girls out there." He snorts.
You shake your head and walk up behind him. "Stupid." You mutter and put the band where it goes. You ruffle his hair on the top like he usually has it. "Where's Ivy to help you out?" You ask.
"Kissing iii." He jokes. "Nerds."
You finish what he needed and you pat his shoulder. "Aight. Kill it like usual." You step out of the room.
You look down the hall and see Vessel... in his alter ego.. slowly walking towards you. (GIF above). He's not talking. He's walking closer and closer. You back up slowly. But he's still stepping forward like you're prey. Your heart speeds up. You back up until you're against a wall. His hands move up next to your head, holding him up. His face towers to yours. His white mask is close. You can almost see his eyes through the small hole.
"My hand feels better." He smiles.
"Ves! We are on!" He leaves you.
You're stuck in place as he walks away.
---
You look at the message you just sent ii. Your heart is beating out of your chest.
I can't deny the feelings I have for Vessel anymore. I need him.
You're sitting in your bed, thinking about what went down backstage a week ago. He's been acting like nothing happened. Like everything is normal. Your phone goes off and you see his response.
I can promise you, the guy is a sucker for you.
There's a knock on your door.
"Yup!"
Ves opens it and looks at you. "I did the dishes." He says.
"Congrats? I do it all of the time." You try to act like what happened didn't. You're trying to act like you don't have feelings for him. Just trying to keep things normal.
He scoffs. "Well, I did you a favor because it was your turn." He rolls his eyes.
You just realized that you had forgotten it was your turn. Here comes the guilt. "I'm sorry, ves. Let me do your laundry in return." You sit on the side of your bed, looking at him.
"It's not a big deal." He waves you off and leaves your room.
You sigh, and you can't take it anymore. You get off of your bed and follow behind him. "So, what happened that day?"
He stops and turns around to face you. "What day?" He smirks.
"Don't act dumb." You look down at the small scar on his hand.
He steps closer, reenacting what he did backstage. "Do you mean when you came out of ii's room? I got pissed." He laughs.
You scoff and cross your arms. "He's just a friend, and you know that. No romantic feelings on either side."
He walks slowly in front of you again. You back against the wall, and he towers over you. His hands on the wall above your head. "He told me." He whispers.
"Why'd you a-ask him?" You're nervous.
"You push every button I have. You piss me off in such a good way. It turns me on. Yet, you're still sweet to me." His hand runs along your cheek. "You're like gentle waters, and I'm the sharp rocks in it." His hand on your cheek moves to your hair. He tangles his fingers in your scalp. "I had to see if you felt the same way. By the way you reacted, I knew I have you in the palm of my hand."
You're stuck in place. In awe. The way his lips move. His eyes scan your features. You can smell his cologne. You are intoxicated on Ves. Your heart is jumping. You have butterflies in your stomach. Your head is fuzzy. Your knees are trying not to give out.
"You're trembling, beautiful." He smirks at you. His lowers his mouth, hovering over your lips. "Fucking show me how much you've been holding back." He growls.
You smash your lips on his, kissing him with passion and hunger. He kisses you back with the same energy, pulling at your bottom lip with his teeth a few times. You moan into him, making him push his body harder into yours. He grabs your hands, entangling your fingers and holding them against the wall. He moves his thigh up, pressing his knee gently against you.
You pull away. "Ves?" you gasp as he kisses down your neck, biting your skin.
"Hm?" He asks.
Sudden anger forms in your stomach. How he has been treating you, saying you annoy him but then trying to fuck you. Now, you realize this, and you feel stupid. "Get off." You say.
He instantly stops and backs away from you. "I'm sorry." He says.
"Why're you doing this when you hate me?" You ask.
He laughs, throwing his head back a bit. This makes you even angrier. Now, you've had it. He's making you feel so stupid and vulnerable. You lift your hand up and try to smack him.
His hand grabs your wrist before you can. He looks you dead in the eyes. "You're so oblivious." He smiles, not letting go of your wrist. You squirm a bit. "I'm in love with you. Have I not made that obvious?" He finally let's you go.
You look up at him and growl. "You have a seriously messed up way of showing that."
"Who picked you up a whole state away when your tire was flat? Who gave you a place to stay when you moved here from home? Who fixes everything when you need it? When we are out at night with the guys, who gives you a jacket when you're shivering? Who makes you soup and tea when you're sick?" His voice is a bit loud, he looks so into his speech. His hand is held out and he's breathing hard.
You are taken aback. You realize everything you've ever needed. He's been there. He never hesitates to make sure you're okay.
"Most importantly," he steps forward, "Who's the one that makes my heart stop when she looks at me?"
"Now I feel bad.." You whisper.
"Don't. I would do it all again. I will do it forever." He smiles and bites the inside of his bottom lip.
"But I've done nothing for you.." You croak.
"Oh, yes, you have. You're so sweet to me. You take care of me. I feel honored every single time you ask for my help. And you make me feel alive." He takes both of your hands in his.
You smile and shed a tear.

MY JAW DROPPED WHEN I SAW THIS. YES.
Sleep Token x Fem!Band member
ReaderRelationship: Rom [Fem nicknames used!]
══════════════════════
Vessel:
He’s content with having both a back up vocalist and guitarist. Now he has two which comes in handy!
Likes to put you in parts where both of your voices mix together. Soft songs or songs that leave more into the metal side its a good mix between the both of you.
Gets a little touchy when singing next to you (If you do get to roam with the microphone like he does)
Loves your voice in general, has a smile on his face when you start singing with him.
Back to the thigh thing. I’m betting money he still grabs your thighs. Sexual or not it’s a satisfying thing to him when he’s singing and you’re strumming the guitar.
══════════════════════
IV:
Gentle kissing randomly. Motions with his hands for you to come over and starts kissing down until you smack him to stop.
‘helps’ fix ur instrument. But instead he’s just adding a reason to come over to you.
He can fix your guitar.. But most of the time he has a tendency to hold it above your head for a while to see how high you can jump.
Stands next to you while you do your vocal parts, definitely would tease you but doesn’t want you to get distracted. (He already distracted.)
Stole your microphone once. Vessel was pissed since you had to follow late behind him.
Calls you “Pretty girl.” I don’t make rules, it’s just written for me. He finds your voice absolutely gorgeous.
══════════════════════
III:
We’ve seen him with IV. Now with you? No gentle kissing, you’re getting aggressive ones. (Who doesn’t tho.)
Goes over your lyrics / parts in rehearsals together or in private to spend time with you.
Stomping sessions feel necessary. He’ll stomp over to you with his guitar and look dumbfounded if you don’t stomp back to him.
Beckons for you to come over so he can kiss you. (This band kisses like every thirty minutes.)
SINGING? Weak in his knees. Bopping his head or singing under his breath with you. “Your voice is really… pretty.” He continues on with many words to describe your voice.
══════════════════════
II:
Can’t really go anywhere but his fingers can surely make motions!
Compliments your singing after the show or when you come up to his little area.
Watches you play your instrument or stomp around with IV and III when you play guitar
Waits for you to come over to him but will wave his hands in the air if it takes you a little while. Give him a lil kiss.
EYE CONTACT. He is keeping eye-contact while you play/sing. He has full eyes on you, especially if you have a solo.
══════════════════════
Felt to horny in the first version so I tried to clean it up :)

❥ Chapter 2 ➛ Word Count - 3,218 ᶠᶦᶜ ᵐᵉⁿᵘ ⁻ ᶜʰᵃᵖᵗᵉʳ ᵒⁿ ᵃᵒ³
Have you ever been in a state of awake yet asleep? Where your body and mind work on their own, leaving you sitting to watch through your own eyes? Have you ever sworn you were awake just for a moment later a voice from beyond echoes in your mind, calling your name… Elliot has.
A soft muse of a voice called for him, nudging his subconscious to wake up. He groaned softly as the voice filled out, becoming louder and more clear.
“Elliot~ Elliot~ It’s time to wake up~” The man’s voice called softly, chuckling as Elliot brought his hands to rub the sleep out of his eyes.
The blonde tried to roll over, tried to silence the voice but the man persisted. He muttered weakly, “Let me sleep...”
The man’s voice cooed at him as though he was a small child. Elliot wanted to be angry, to be mad but the way the man ran his fingers through his hair so tenderly, he couldn’t help but sigh.
Slowly he opened his blurry eyes just to blink away the fog. Elliot was met with a man, tall and attractive. He smiled down at him, soft fangs poking at his plush lips. It sent a shiver down Elliot’s spine, a mix of fear and arousal stirring in his stomach.
“There you are… How was your nap on my beach?” The mysterious man asked, still tenderly touching Elliot.
The blonde paused for a moment, briefly glancing around him before quickly scooting away from the man. “Who-who the hell are you?!”
His heartbeat quickened as he felt his chest, his arms. He was supposed to be dead yet here he sat on a beach of red sand and even redder water. At that moment he noticed the trees had swallowed the opening, leaving it so he could not escape.
Elliot’s breathing quickened as he hugged himself tight, frantically looking around at the many red flowers decorating the beach.
The man before him sighed and stood to his full height, perfectly towering over Elliot. Even in the moment, he understood if he tried to fight back, nothing good would come out of it. He feared the nearly 7-foot-tall man would crush him under his gaze.
“My name… is Svefn but you will forget that name shortly and only refer to me as Sleep.”
Sleep. The name took the breath out of Elliot’s lungs as he scrambled through the beautiful red flowers. A wash of panic flooded him as Sleep stepped closer, closely watching his pathetic attempts to escape.
Elliot whined high in his throat, soft tears pricking in his eyes. “Please... Please I’m sorry I didn’t mean to intrude..!”
His pleas fell on deaf ears as he backed into someone. He blinked and Sleep was gone, now standing idly behind him. The man, creature even, bent down and lifted Elliot as though he weighed nothing to him.
“Don’t fear little one… I invited you here.” Sleep mused while placing Elliot on his feet, “I wish to offer you salvation, partnership, and eternal love.”
“W-what..?” Elliot stared bewildered while Sleep brushed the sand off his shirt, righting the small wrinkles. Once he deemed Elliot’s clothes fit, he grasped his chin, tilting his head upwards to stare into his eyes.
“Elliot my dear, I saved you.” Sleep expressed with deep concern, “I fixed your wounds, I breathed life into you…”
Face twisting in confusion, Elliot forced his chin from the man’s grasp and glanced at his arm. Shock rushed over him, forcing him to quickly look at Sleep in awe. “How did you…”
His question prompted a laugh from Sleep, a deep chuckle that coated Elliot’s nerves in sickly sweet calm. How had Sleep healed him? Healed his gaping wounds to nothing but simple scars? The skin itself wasn’t even raised, acting as though the wound had healed years ago. But Elliot’s mind didn’t allow him to care, forcing him into a deep state of happiness.
The ginger leaned down, nosing gently at Elliot’s nose, forcing him to jerk slightly but stay still. “I am no man, little one… Welcome to my home, Eden.”
“Eden…” Elliot muttered, eyes closing as he basked in the gentle words, “What are you, Sleep..?”
Sleep grasped at Elliot’s hips, pulling him closer to press against one another. Instinctively Elliot brought his hands to Sleep’s chest, bracing himself as he hummed pleased.
“I am a god my darling, a god offering you your greatest desires.” Sleep mused while gently rubbing his thumb into Elliot’s hip, “Offering you love and eternal partnership, do you accept? Wish to become my vessel for my love?”
The offer seemed odd, maybe even strange coming from a man who deemed himself a god. Elliot wanted to speak out, to question him, but the touch was intoxicating. It lured him into trusting Sleep, to believe that he would always be there...
Elliot found his mouth opening to speak on its own, the words “I accept…” spilling from him with a soft needy whine. Sleep’s smile turned seductive, pleased with himself as he leaned down to press a rough kiss against Elliot’s lips. It drew a shocked gasp from the blonde’s lips as he relaxed into the forceful movement.

Fall For Me (Poly! Sleep Token x Fem! Reader) - Pt. X
Hello hello! After a long time away I have finally returned! It's good to be back! Here's an update for the Eepy's, I hope you enjoy it!
WARNINGS: Mentions of injury and blood, suggestive comments
My Masterlist! ~ A03 Link! ~ Tip Jar!
Part IX - Part XI (TBA)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Got a second to talk?”
“Yeah.” You respond after a moment of hesitation, your voice raspy with sleep. “Yeah, let me just grab my coat.” You shove your feet into your boots. You glance at the group in your living room, silently telling them to stay put. All four of them looked ready to rush to your rescue without hesitation. But, if they got involved, it would only make the situation even riskier than it already could be. You shrug on your winter coat before stepping onto your landing. “Something wrong, officer?”
“That’s what I came here to ask you.” He responds. “Got a call? An unfamiliar pickup truck showed up in your lot. Four suspicious men were seen approaching your apartment.” He looks down in the lot at the beat-up truck sitting next to your car. “I'd say there's a pretty good chance they're still here.”
“That's really why you're banging on my door at the ass crack of dawn?” You ask in an annoyed tone, crossing your arms over your chest. “Well, I'm going to tell you right now, you're not getting in here without a fucking warrant-” He cuts you off by firmly saying your name.
“I'm not here to arrest anyone.” He explains in an attempt to try and diffuse your hostility. “I'm just here to check in. Are you in trouble? Do you need help?” He whispers, eyes darting between the door and your less-than-pleased expression.
You let out an aggravated sigh, “Mike, listen… the only reason I'm not running you off my property right now is because you've helped me out in the past. If I needed your help, I would ask for it. I'm not going to let you show up here and harass me or any of them because some fucking backwoods country bumpkin wants to demonize a different way of living.” You take a deep breath, seeing the genuine concern on his face. “This… isn't like last time; they wouldn't hurt me. I'm safe, promise.” He looks at the door and then back at you.
“If you even get the feeling that something is wrong, you call me.” You nod.
“Get back to the station. Your wife would be worried sick if she knew you were out driving right now.” You nodded to his vehicle, watching him descend the stairs before heading back inside the apartment. You stepped through the door, kicking off your boots and hanging up your coat with a sigh of relief now that the situation was over.
“Thank god, you're safe.” Vessel pulls you into his arms, his voice thick with worry. “What did he want?”
“Someone called to report an unfamiliar vehicle and four suspicious individuals entering my house last night; he was just swinging by for a wellness check.” You reassure him. “He might be a bit of a hard ass, but he means well. I'm sure he won't give you guys any trouble.”
“Bit of a sour start to our first morning all together, isn't it?” III chuckles, making the rest of the group laugh.
“And here I was, looking forward to cuddling up with you.” Vessel purrs, the tension from your unexpected visitor quickly melting away as they all attempt to soothe your nerves.
“Nothing is saying that can't still happen, Ves,” II responds with a smile. You see a devious smirk quickly pass over Vessel’s features. You yelp, and your feet are lifted from the floor in one swift movement. Vessel easily tosses you over his shoulder to carry you towards your bedroom. You giggle as he gently tosses you on the bed, quickly being surrounded by warmth as the boys pile around you. You lay sandwiched between II and IV, III holding one of your hands in his as he lazily plays with your fingers. Vessel’s hand possessively wraps around the curve of your waist as he reaches over II, needing to be somehow able to touch you. It didn't take long for your eyes to grow heavy, returning to sleep for the last few hours of dawn as the new day's light began to melt away the cage of ice that had covered the surrounding trees.
You smiled as you woke up, pressing into the body's warmth behind you with a soft hum. A strong arm wrapped securely around your waist, his thumb rubbing slow, languid strokes across your hip. You reach over to find the other side of the bed empty. “-’s just you and me, lovey.” Vessel purrs. You let out a soft, pleased sigh.
“Is that so?” you ask in a slightly teasing tone, your voice still thick with sleep. Was that your plan all along? Get me in bed all alone?” He meets your playful smirk with a chuckle of his own.
“You’d like that, wouldn't you, sweetness?” he whispers, his grip tightening on your waist. Your cheeks grow warm, goosebumps erupting across your skin as you feel his lips brush over the shell of your ear. “Trust me, my first time with you isn't going to be some messy little hook-up in your bedroom.” He chuckles. “I plan on worshiping you like the divine creature you are.” A shiver runs up your spine as he presses his lips to your pulse. “Until then, we just have to be patient, don't we?”
“Fine.” You sigh in mock annoyance, making Vessel laugh softly. You rest your hand on top of his, languidly tracing the spaces between his knuckles as you allow yourself to melt into his warmth. “Where are the others?”
“They're making you breakfast. We all want to make sure you have a better day after starting on the wrong foot.” He explains softly.
“You’re sweet, " you say with a smile. “The power came back on?” He lets out a hum of approval.
“Clicked on a little while after you fell asleep.” You lay there for a few moments, enjoying the feeling of Vessel’s body molding against yours. You sigh as you attempt to roll out of bed. “And where do you think you're going?” He chuckles, tightening his grip on your waist. You roll over to face him, the playfully grumpy expression on your face making him smile. “Trying to run away without giving me a kiss? That's how it's going to be, hm?” You giggle as he pulls your lips to his.
You could get used to mornings like this. After leaving your lungs burning for air and your head spinning, Vessel lazily helped you get out of bed. Scooping you up in his arms to escort you towards the kitchen. “Well, good morning, beautiful.” III stood at the stove, bacon sizzling in the pan in front of him, IV at his side cutting up fruit and tossing it into a bowl, and II sat at the table drinking a steaming cup of coffee.
“Good morning.” You greet all of them. Vessel sets you down on the floor before collapsing into one of the other chairs that had been dragged into the kitchen. IV approaches you, holding out a piece of fresh fruit for you to bite into. He rests his hand against your cheek, carefully running his thumb under your eye.
“Eyelash.” He whispers with a chuckle. He holds it out on the end of his fingeMakemake a wish.” A smile creeps across your features at the simple request. You think about it momentarily before closing your eyes, wishing that every morning could be like this with them, and blowing the eyelash away. Your eyes flutter open to meet IV’s curious gaze. He presses his lips to your forehead before returning to the task he was completing prior.
“You hungry?” You smile as III wraps an arm around your waist, pulling you into his side.
“Starving.” You respond, giggling as he squeezes you against him, pressing a kiss to your cheek.
“I'll have breakfast done shortly, love.” You stand up on your toes, sharing a kiss through his mask before allowing him to finish cooking.
“Well, good morning, baby.” II quickly caught your attention, a warm hand settling against your waist as he pulled you into his lap. “Thought you forgot about me.” He teases with a chuckle. “My pretty girl is getting so much attention.” He squeezes your hip as his gaze lazily trails down to your lips.
“Trust me, that’s not remotely possible.” You giggle as his forehead bumps against yours, holding his lips just out of reach.
“Good,” he whispers, “because after holding you in my arms this morning, I can't seem to think of anything besides you.” Your eyes flutter shut as his lips finally brush over yours. You feel II’s legs tense underneath you as you hear IV let out a sound almost akin to a growl from across the kitchen.
“Relax.” III states in a warning tone. “You can spend time with her, too.” You watch IV’s shoulders soften under III’s intense, almost corrective demeanor. “And II, keep it respectful, yeah?” III stood like a wall between the two men, ready to launch into action at the first signs of a fight.
You hear II make an annoyed sound of approval. The fact that he seemed to be acting like a child who had just been scolded by a parent almost made you laugh. You press your lips to his cheek, “I'm going to see if they need any help.”
“Don't let them work you too hard, love.” He jokes with a wink. You laugh, shaking your head as you hop off his lap. You walk up to III, crossing your arms behind your back.
“Head chef.” You address him seriously.
“Yes, love?” He responds with a chuckle.
“Where would you like me to help?” You ask, following III’s gase as it trails over to IV. He nods in his direction, smiling at you as you walk away.
IV tenses slightly under your touch, your hand resting on his shoulder. “Everything okay?” You grab a bowl from the cabinet in front of you and place it on the counter to pour the fruit into.
“I'm sorry,” he apologizes quietly, keeping his eyes trained on the cutting board. “Guess I'm just a little jealous.”
“Is there anything I can do to help?” IV sighs, his shoulders softening as he lets some tension roll from his body.
“No, you're absolutely perfect, love.” His eyes finally meet yours, the corners crinkling slightly as he smiles. “I just need to get out of my head, I'm afraid.” He finishes with a chuckle. Your heart skips a beat at the sound of him saying your name, “promise you're still my girl?”
“Of course.” You say, shooting him a flirty smile. “Besides, you still have to take me out on that date.” He chuckles bashfully.
“Yes, I do. I just want to make sure I think of something special first.” He gently nudges your shoulder with his own. “My girl deserves only the best.” Your cheeks grow warm, the two of you sharing a small glance before finishing breakfast in silence.
“All set, sweetheart?” III asks before clearing your dishes from the table.
“I can bring my own plates to the sink; I'm not helpless, you know.” You joke.
III chuckles as he strolls up to you, “And why should my pretty girl have to lift a finger?”
“You're such a flirt.” You tease with a flustered giggle. You sigh, standing to answer your phone in the other room.
“Thank god I got a hold of ya’.” The momentary panic that had bubbled up in your chest at the sight of the contact that flashed across your phone quickly died at the familiar calm tone on the other end of the line.
“Henry, is everything alright?” Henry McMann owned the dairy farm up the road; you had grown close to him over your time running the store.
“Everything's fine. Tree fell and put a damn hole in the barn roof. I was hoping I could convince those boys you have staying with you to come down and help; I could use their pickup truck to clean up the place.” Your eyes narrowed at the request.
“How did you know they were staying here?” You question.
“Whole damn town’s talking about it, kiddo. Hell,” he starts to laugh, “at least three people have called up here this morning asking if we've heard from you.”
“You weren't the one that sent the police here, were you?”
“No, ma’am,” he responds immediately. “Your business is your business. As long as no one's getting hurt, I frankly don't give a damn what you're getting up to.”
“Let me see if I can get Vessel to come talk to you; he'll be able to help.” After some gentle convincing on your end, you managed to get him on the phone. Vessel might be wary of strangers, but despite his icy exterior, he couldn't turn down someone who needed help. After a while, he carefully hung up the phone and wordlessly approached the others.
“Let's get going; we have some work to do.” You weren't exactly sure what Henry could have said to Vessel that made him agree to head out there, but you were happy for whatever it was. Pulling up at the farm always provided this strange sense of home. Seeing Henry waiting on the porch, a dark pipe lazily perched against his lips, was a sight you'd witnessed a hundred times at this point.
“Thanks for showing up.” Henry’s hand claps into Vessel’s with a firm shake.
“Thank you for giving us the opportunity to.” Vessel responds simply. “Why don't you show us this barn.”
The tree hadn't damaged much but couldn't remain across the barn’s roof. “We need to get the sheep to the other building before we do anything.” You caught Vessel silently nodding at III, who quietly slipped from the group. You stood by as the pair formulated a plan, Henry seemingly impressed by Vessel’s initiative to help. You startled at the bleating from behind you, turning to find that III had successfully managed to herd all the sheep together.
Vessel calls your name. " Why don't you take Henry inside so you can both warm up? The more people out here, the more dangerous it'll be.”
“You don't have to tell me twice.” Henry chuckles. “You boys drink coffee? I'll get a pot started.”
“That would be great, Henry, thank you.” Vessel responds before his attention turns to you. “Go on, love. We won't be long.” The sight of his smile was enough to put you at ease. If you were being honest, this whole interaction was going a lot better than you thought it would. You were expecting Vessel to be cold and Henry to be abrasive, but the two seemed to be getting along just fine.
“Oh, wait, they're going to need some chain.” You sent Henry inside, insisting you would be right in. You were just going to jog back over and tell them where to look in the– You skidded to a halt as you rounded the corner. IV stood under the tree, his jacket discarded on the truck hood and his sleeves pushed up to his elbows. His muscles strained under the weight of the colossal trunk; with a groan and one strong push from his legs, he lifted the tree from the barn. You hear him curse before pushing the tree forward, causing it to crash loudly to the ground. You watched him grab onto his hand, droplets of blood dripping from his fingers into the pure white snow. You were immediately consumed by panic seeing him hurt, the inhuman strength you just witnessed being pushed from your mind. You yell for him, rushing forward to see the damage. “Are you okay? Let me look.” The wound wasn't anything terrible, a gash left behind by what you were assuming was a sharp branch, just enough to cause him to bleed. “Come on, let's get you cleaned up.” He wordlessly followed you, allowing you to rush him inside and past Henry to the bathroom. You kicked the door shut behind you, pulling out the first aid kit from under the sink. IV stared back at you with confusion in his eyes, apprehension rolling off him in waves as he waited for you to address what you had just witnessed. He was snapped from his daze by you softly saying his name, “Can I see?”
“Yeah.” He sighs, placing his injured hand in yours. “I'm sorry you have to play nurse,” he chuckles. I wasn't expecting that bark to be so jagged.”
“It's no problem; it's what girlfriends are for.” He breathes out a sigh of relief as you smile at him. The silence still hung thick between you as you carefully cleaned the wound, being as gentle with him as possible. “So, you're strong enough to squat a tree?”
“I guess, on a good day.” He responds in an awkward attempt at a joke.
“Can you… Can all of you–?” You make a vague flexing motion, making IV chuckle.
“To an extent, yeah.” He leans closer to you, a smugness lacing its way into his words. “I would like to point out, however, that I am quite a bit stronger than II, thank you very much.”
You smile coyly at him, “As long as you're strong enough to sweep me up in your arms, that's all I care about.”
“You're acting like that would be much of a problem.” You swallow thickly, your heart racing as your eyes meet his.
“Try to sit still while I get you wrapped up, alright?” He laughs at your abrupt change in subject.
“Yes, love, whatever you need.” He leans in, gently pressing his lips to your forehead
“Is he gonna make it?” Henry asks, unbothered by your usual frantic chaos rushing through his living room, reading yesterday's paper in his recliner.
“Yessir, just a scratch,” IV responds with a chuckle.
“We're going to see what else they need help with; we’ll be back, " you explain before heading out of the house. You step onto the porch, pulling your jacket around you to try to shield yourself from the frigid wind. You squeal as IV effortlessly picks you up and tosses you over his shoulder.
“See? No trouble at all.” He teases before turning you into a more comfortable position, holding you close to his chest. By the time you had gotten back to the barn, Vessel and II had made quick work of chopping up the tree, the back of their truck filled with neatly sliced logs ready to be moved elsewhere.
“There you are! You were gone so long we thought she had to chop your damn hand off.” II chuckles.
“No, he got lucky this time.” You joke, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
“You mind going to check on III? Tell him we're just about done.” You nod, running off towards the other barn. Upon entering, you couldn't help but laugh, watching III attempt to calm the panicked sheep.
“I'm not trying to eat your flock; I'm just trying to help.” He attempts to bargain to stop the bleating.
“Want some company?” You ask with a smile.
“Please.” III chuckles in response.
“I'm surprised they don't like you; Henry’s sheep are usually very sweet.” You muse, patting the top of one of their fluffy heads as you pass.
“I tend to be rather scary to livestock animals… for one reason or another.” He responds vaguely.
“Well, Ves wanted me to tell you they're just about finished.” He slides to the ground with a sigh, patting the empty cushion of hay beside him.
“Good, that gives me a couple minutes to spend with you.” He responds in a flirty tone. You tumble down next to him, allowing him to pull you into his side. “How's your day going, baby?”
“Well, I'm spending it with you, so I can't complain.” You say with a smile.
Your heart raced as he leaned in closer to you. “Glad to hear it.” His gaze drops to your lips, slowly tracing your features before meeting your eyes again with an eye-crinkling smile. “Do you think, um– Do you think I could maybe steal you away for myself tonight..? Only if you want, of course.” The memory of III confessing how he just wants to get you alone bubbled up in the back of your mind, making your stomach flip.
“If you can manage to get me away from the others.” You joke with a giggle.
III releases a sound somewhere between a growl and a chuckle. “Oh, don't worry about that, pretty girl. I'll make sure everyone knows you'll be spending the night with me.”
“Alright, III, bring them back in!” You hear Vessel call from outside. He stands with a groan, offering you his hand to help you up.
“Alright, everyone, let's make this as painless as possible.” He calls over the hoard of bleating sheep. He was surprisingly efficient at the task, rounding up the entire flock into one solid group to lead them from one building to the other. You noticed how he quickly spotted anyone who fell out of line, nudging them back with his knee as he barked to keep moving.
You jump as Vessel places a hand on your waist, “I think that went well, don't you?”
“I think you're right.” You smile softly, leaning into him as you share your hushed conversation. “Thank you for giving Henry a chance; he's pretty much family.”
“I can't say no to you,” he breathes out a chuckle. You asked for my help, and I'll always be there to give it to you… and, I guess, Henry doesn't seem so bad.” He playfully nudges your shoulder.
“You boys hungry? The wife and I would like to make you some dinner to say thanks for helpin’ out.” Vessel looks to the others for a response.
“Well, you know I could always eat.” III chuckles with a shrug.
You hear II sigh, somewhat relieved, “Would either of you like help in the kitchen?”
“No, you've done more than enough. All of you.” Henry confidently walks up to Vessel with a look of determination. “After today, I can tell just how much bullshit those reporters are trying to fill everyone's head with. You're a good group; if you ever need anything, just let me know. Just make sure you take good care of my girl.”
Vessel smiled, genuinely shaking Henry's hand. “Thank you; I really appreciate that. And, trust me,” despite the mask covering his face, you could feel Vessel’s eyes shift to you. I plan to.”
You stood side by side with May, Henry’s wife, in the kitchen, helping her wash vegetables for dinner. “Those boys seem very sweet on you.” She gracefully dances around the subject. Your cheeks grow warm as you struggle to think of a way to explain your four boyfriends. “They're all very handsome; you'll have to come by and tell me about them sometime.” She whispers giddily.
“I’d love to; they're all amazing. I'm happy you finally get to meet them.” You jumped at the loud boom of laughter from the living room, smiling at the sound of the group.
“I think Henry likes them too.” She chuckles.
May insists she can finish up the cooking herself before sending you out into the commotion. You couldn't get over how lovely they all were, genuinely enjoying their time sitting in Henry’s cramped living room. The house was full of laughter, stories, and all the small things you missed about being at Henry's farm. The hours flew by, and before you knew it, you were comfortably tucked into the truck's cab, settling into III’s lap while Vessel drove towards their camp. III wraps his arms around your waist, chin settling against your shoulder. “How's my pretty girl?” He whispers.
“Good.” You reply with a pleased sigh. “Tired.” You follow up with a chuckle.
“Do you still want to spend the night?” A shiver runs down your spine at the feeling of his warm breath against the shell of your ear.
“Of course.”
a/n I won’t say anything because what is there to say… Also, this is fiction idk why but I just feel the need to wave that flag here.
Summery: Just on stage shenanigans between you, the back singer, and the boys.
warning: no full on smut because there’s so much of that as it is but they are sex on legs so this does have sexual implications. I’m just a girl. And I feel like I should go confess my sins to someone.
All of them x reader
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Nothing truly beats the feeling of the stage lighting beaming on you. The radiant atmosphere and the beating of the crowd in front of the stage. It got addictive fast. And the rush of both adrenaline and freedom you never truly got over. Most of the time, it still felt like a dream. Like you weren’t there. There weren’t four other people. A whole band that people swooned over.
You still remember the notification of the private message in your DMs. “We’ve seen your videos. The voice is to die for. Up to back us up?” You had stared at it for hours. Pressing the profile over and over again, convinced that one of the times it would take you to some scammy account, but it didn’t. So you took that leap of fate, and the roller coaster that unfolded still made your skin tingle at times.
“How you don’t break an ankle in these is beyond me," II grumbled, gesturing to the high heels you were strapping around your legs. Before throwing the towel he had just used to dry his hair with, at you. You huffed back, “Of course you wouldn’t know; you sit and look pretty the whole show." You shot him an overly exaggerated smile before flipping him off. “Put the claws away, baby," he said, lifting his hands up, “I would love to keep my eyes for some time longer." You lifted both of your hands, making sure to flex the black coffin-shaped nails, only earning a chuckle in return from II.
“No form of violence is allowed backstage," III cut in, putting the mask over his face, “Unless it’s consensual, of course." The three of you snickered. There was never a dull moment with them. You weren’t sure exactly why you imagined them to be all cold and unapproachable, but you couldn’t have been more wrong. From the silly hats they happily took from the fans to messing around on stage barking. “We’re out in thirty," IV's voice cut through the snickering. “Vess?”, you questioned, standing up only to still feel tiny among them. It was unfair how even killer heels had you feeling minuter. “In his element, ready to go," the usual then. You turned to the mirror while doing the last checkups. Fiddling with the straps of your dress.
“Headset feels good?”, warm hands slipped up your beck, fidgeting with the wires as if he even knew what he was doing. “You just needed an excuse to put your hands on me, sir," you said, pushing back against IV’s chest. He already had his mask on, but from the way his blue eyes flickered, you knew he was smirking at you. “You can’t call the man guilty if you haven’t caught him red-handed, darling," he muttered in your ear, sending shivers down your spine. “And to my defense, the wire wasn’t plugged in," he snickers before pulling back. You shook your head as you watched him follow after the boys out. Reaching for your mask, you take a couple of deep breaths to steady your heartbeat. It was going to be a night to remember. You could just feel it.
And your gut wasn’t wrong. The crowd was wild tonight, and that always set the bend into a different kind of frenzy. For most of the shows, you were usually up there on your pedestal. Looking like a vision cloaked in both light and darkness, there were some songs that Vessle liked having you down there with him. But you always felt almost guilty. You didn’t want the fans to feel like you were there to change the dynamic. Let alone take up a spot that wasn’t yours to take.
So when you noticed Vessel striding towards you, you couldn’t help but silently shake your head. They had already all been all over each other all night. But you don’t get to run through all of your reasons as to why this was a bad idea before Vessel was in front of your pedestal. Hands reaching up for your ankles before he pointed for you to get down. You shook your head at him, continuing to sing your part. Not wanting the interaction to seem odd, you sank to your knees so you can touch his face, only realizing how wrong this move was once Vessel's hands grip the sides of your hips and you’re airborne before you can even blink.
A small shriek slips past your lips as you hold onto his shoulders. But no matter what your reaction to this was, he was all smug about it. His white teeth bright against the black paint covering his body. “I don’t like it when you put on unnecessary fights," he mused before turning back to the crowd. So, you let the thrill of the beat take over. Playing into the role of the masked goddess. A siren. That was the beauty of the mask. Such little thing making the biggest difference. Giving one the chance to feel way more confident.
And it’s II your legs take you to first. His eyes follow your movements all across the stage. With the drum set taking most of his platform he was sat on, playing games with this man was tricky. But it wasn’t impossible. So you slither behind him. Placing your hand on top of his head, you carefully make him look up at you. That same moment, the heel II was so found off finds its way between his parted legs. Without missing a beat, his face is pressed into your upper thigh, fingers dipping beneath the mesh overlay of your dress. And you know there will be hell to pay later on from the way he’s gripping your ankle. You push his face away from your body, throwing him a lighthearted kiss as you hurry down the platform stairs. The roar of the crowd filling all of your senses.
III is left to your mercy next. And since his eyes were all over you, you knew that even if you were to walk right past him, he would follow you across the stage. So you stand there, motioning with your fingers for him to come to you. Right as your part of the solo vocals came. Ones that boys even called your siren song. You let the melody pour out of you. Watching III sink to his knees in front of you. Your brain blanks for a moment as he leans forward, and you just know why the crowd erupts in chaos. So your fingers find his head, pulling him even closer. Let him paint the picture of devouring you. Worshipping you. And you’re yet again so thankful for the mask covering your face because you know that your face would be as red as the paint on his skin. Especially after he stands back up. Fingers moved to brush over his lips as if he was cleaning them.
You can feel someone’s eyes burning holes in your body, and you’re not even one bit surprised to see IV with his eyes blazing. He was the one you flirted the most with backstage as well. Since day one, there was just that mutual fire you both shared. So the back and forth between you both was never-ending. But if there was one thing IV avoided, it was making any move towards you while everyone was on stage. And while boys took their sweet time being lunatics when it came to you. His play pretend ended with his bandmates. Yet you didn’t miss the glances he threw your way. Or how he would find himself close to your pedestal, close enough to touch but never leaning in.
And while your head was telling you that maybe he just didn’t want to get involved, your heart was telling you to take yet another leap of faith. So you two stood in front of each other for a heartbeat. And right as Descending’s you came crawling back to me, filled the stage. Your finger hooked beneath the bottom of his mask as you pulled him closer. No matter the blast of sounds around you, you could still make out the growl that slipped past his lips. And since his eyes promised hell, you threw all caution to the wind as you leaned in, smashing your lips against his. You didn’t let it linger for too long; there was little fun in having two masks between you both, but it got the point across well enough.
IV’s hand reached for you as you moved back away. A freaked-out giggle slipped past your lips as you darted towards your last victim for the night. Well, and shelter now, considering that you had to get away from IV. Vessel was someone you knew had to be worshipped in front of the fans. You weren’t living under a rock. His hands and fingers had separate fan blogs, not to mention his carved-out chest muscles. So you slipped behind him. Letting your fingers trail the sides of him. Finding the sweat-drenched skin. Dragging your nails over the paint, no doubt leave claw marks in its way.
You rested your head against Vessel’s beck for a heartbeat, hoping to slip from behind him with ease. But you couldn’t have been more wrong because the moment you took the reassured stride away from him. A firm hand gripped your hair as he carefully, yet rather possessively, dragged you back to him. Pulling your head back so he could look down at you, shaking his head. But the smile gave his controlling demeanor away. “Whatever will we do with you, little Vixen?" You bit your lip, shrugging slightly. Playfully pushing at his chest, you slipped out of his grip. Swaying your hips as you slowly climbed back to the steps of your pedestal. Not letting your brain think of the hell you just set ablaze.
Alright, hear me out, Simon Riley working for Sleep Token as their head of security.
Let me explain.
His life had always been defined by precision and control, by the kind of discipline that didn’t falter in the face of chaos. But retirement had come swiftly and unceremoniously, a necessity more than a choice. The regimented life of the SAS had ended, leaving him adrift in the civilian world, and that felt far more alien than any hostile territory he’d ever set foot in.
Somehow he found himself in the chaotic underbelly of the entertainment industry, a space filled with the metallic clatter of stagehands, the distant roar of soundchecks, and the pulse of a metal band steadily climbing the ladder to global fucking acclaim. And hell, the stage lights, the screaming crowds, the thrum of bass reverberating through his chest, none of it had ever factored into the life he’d imagined for himself.
But life had a funny way of taking plans and shredding them into something unrecognisable.
Simon still wasn’t sure how he’d ended up here.
When he left the military he thought he’d bury himself in some quiet corner of anonymity, far from the public eye. Civvy life was cruel to men like him, and for months, he drifted between meaningless gigs, his skill set too sharp for ordinary work, too lethal for the mundane.
Then came the call.
Sleep Token’s manager had been a contact of a contact, someone who knew someone who’d served with him, someone who’d heard about him through the strange network of ex-military types finding unconventional second careers. The irony hadn’t been lost on Simon when he was first approached. A band draped in anonymity, each member masked and named only by cryptic titles, needed security. And who better to protect them than a man who’d spent his life hiding behind his own mask?
Fucking unbelievable.
Somehow Simon had ticked every box without realising it, and before he knew it, he was standing in a smoky room, hands tucked into the pockets of his faded jeans as he sized up the bloody Muppet Show who would earn his salary.
He’d scoffed at the absurdity of it back then.
It wasn’t his scene. Far from it.
And yet, something in him, a combination of pragmatism and the faint flicker of intrigue, told him to give it a shot. He was financially screwed anyway. And the pay was good, much better than what he earned as a high-ranking officer, the anonymity suited him just fine, and the job, strangely enough, kind of aligned with his skill set. Therefore, after a few days of mulling it over, he said yes.
Simon had learned to adapt quickly. This job—head of security, an overqualified bodyguard as he liked to call it—had its own rhythm, distinct but no less intense than the one he’d lived before.
Venues became his battlefields, and he mapped them with a soldier’s precision. Potential threats were assessed the way he’d once scoped out enemy positions. His vigilance rarely wavered, whether he was walking the perimeter of a festival or standing stoic in a dim corridor as Vessel rehearsed another one of his verses. To Simon, these kinds of threats were laughable compared to the ones he’d faced during his service, however, it wasn’t without its challenges. Crowds could be unpredictable, and fame had a way of drawing out the unhinged.
He took to his duties with the same precision and discipline he’d honed in the SAS. The members trusted him implicitly, and that trust was something Simon didn’t take lightly. They called him Riley and treated him like a constant, the way you’d treat the sun rising or the tide coming in.
Reliable, steady, unshakable.
At first, the job was simple enough. The usual security gig, albeit with a touch of bloody theatricality. However, fame has a way of turning everything upside down, even for someone like Simon.
It started subtly.
Fans started to notice him too. At first, it was just a handful of comments on social media, like “Who’s the guy in the black balaclava?”, but it grew from there. They were fascinated by him, by the idea of a masked man guarding a masked band. He was an enigma within an enigma, and the internet just loved enigmas. It wasn’t until Lynsey Ward, one of the backup vocalists, shoved her phone in his face one day that he realised how far it had gone.
The backstage in Paris hummed with a peculiar kind of energy and anticipation that Simon had grown accustomed to since taking the job. It was a strange but one of a kind lifestyle, this one, filled with hurried footsteps, clinking equipment, and the muffled roar of soundchecks vibrating through walls. Simon lingered near the members as they cycled through their usual pre-show rituals.
IV sat in a corner, his mask tilted upward as if in contemplation, while Vessel sprawled on a battered sofa, his makeup halfway done, face a patchwork of metallic hues. II drummed his fingers idly on his thighs, the rhythmic taps almost lost beneath the din, while III sat near the makeup station, enjoying the rare moment of downtime between soundcheck, preparations and the main show, reading something on his phone.
Simon leaned against the wall, arms crossed over his chest, his black balaclava masking his expression but not the faint lines of tension in his shoulders.
His sharp eyes swept over the room, mentally running through his usual checklist again that concerned necessary security measures. Entry points, exits, personnel movements, everything was accounted for, everything secure. The monotony of the job had become second nature to him, though he still approached each night like it might unravel at any moment.
Lynsey sat nearby, waiting for her turn in the makeup chair. She was scrolling on her phone, just like almost everyone in the room, one leg crossed over the other, her posture relaxed but her smile mischievous. Simon didn’t notice her at first, he had his priorities, but her voice cut through the quiet hum of activity like a knife.
“Riley,” she called out, her tone playful. “You’ve got to see this.”
Simon didn’t move.
“Busy,” he muttered, his voice low and even.
Lynsey ignored him entirely, already rising from her seat and crossing the room with her phone in hand. “Come on, just watch,” she insisted, shoving the screen toward him. The glow of the phone illuminated her face, her grin widening as she anticipated his reaction.
Simon sighed, an irritated, tired sound that came from somewhere deep in his chest.
“What now?”
Reluctantly, Simon uncrossed his toned arms and stepped forward, his towering frame casting a shadow over her. The screen showed a video, a quick montage of him, no less. Snippets of him walking through crowds, standing by the stage, his balaclava catching the light just so as if he were a character in some fucking noir film. The background music swelled dramatically, and captions popped up over the footage, saying “If I ever get kicked out of a venue, it better be by HIM. Imagine getting manhandled by those arms.”
Simon blinked, his frown deepening beneath the mask.
“The hell’s this?” he asked, his tone flat but tinged with suspicion.
“It’s a thirst trap,” Lynsey said, as if that explained everything, her laughter barely contained.
Simon stared at her blankly. “The fuck's a thirst trap?”
Lynsey cackled, delighted. “Oh, you’re a relic, aren’t you? It’s a thing on TikTok. People post these little edits when they fancy someone. And let me tell you, mate, there are loads of these floating about. Like, ‘look at this mysterious bloke, isn’t he fit?’ That sort of thing.”
Simon’s eyes narrowed. “TikTok?”
From across the room, III chimed in, his grin wicked as he leaned back in his seat. “Nowhere to hide, Riley,” he said, his tone teasing. “You’re a proper celebrity now.”
Simon huffed through his nose, a sound that carried more weight than words. He glanced at the phone again, now firmly lodged in Lynsey’s outstretched hand, the screen flashing more of his edited movements cut and spliced into dramatic slow-motion. He stepped back slightly, folding his arms across his broad chest once more, muttering something about “kids and their bollocks” under his breath as he did.
Lynsey quipped, her grin only widening. “Face it, the internet’s gone mad for you. They’ve even got a hashtag—‘#SecurityDaddy.’”
Simon flinched, his head snapping back toward her like she’d just admitted to committing a war crime.
This made IV join the fray, a water bottle in hand as he ambled over. “Oi, show us the goods. I wanna see what’s got good ol’ Riley in a strop.”
Lynsey eagerly turned her phone to IV, who leaned over her shoulder, squinting at the screen with a wide grin already forming on his painted face. The video played again, the dramatic slow-motion edits of Simon walking through a crowd, his balaclava catching the stage lights as though he’d been directed by a Hollywood cinematographer.
IV let out a sharp laugh, nearly choking on his water.
“Well, I’ll be damned,” he said, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, leaving a trail of black paint on them. “‘Security Daddy,’ they’re callin’ you? That’s golden.”
Lynsey snorted and held up another video. “Oh, you’ve got no idea. Look at this one, ‘If he told me to leave the venue, I’d say thank you.’ And here’s another, ‘Is it weird to want to be tackled by him?’ You’ve got your own bloody fanbase, Riley.”
Simon’s gloved hand scrubbed down his masked face as if he could physically push away the madness unfolding around him. “You lot are takin’ the piss.”
“This one’s my favourite,” Lynsey said, clicking on yet another video. The screen lit up with a heavily edited montage of Simon in action—his eyes scanning a crowd, his broad shoulders cutting through a sea of fans, the flash of his gloved hand directing someone to stand back. The video was captioned with “I don’t know his name, but he can ruin my life anytime.”
Vessel, who’d been silent for most of the exchange, finally sat up, resting his elbows on his knees as he regarded their head of security with an amused expression. “It’s the mask, mate,” he stated. “It's like catnip. People project onto what they can’t see. You could lean into it, y’know. Like us. Give the people what they want. Maybe throw in a wink next time you’re standin’ by the stage.”
Simon sent Vessel a look so sharp it could have peeled paint off the walls.
II, who had been leaning casually against the wall next to them, joined in with a huge grin. “Yeah, might as well embrace it. You’re part of the act now.”
Simon’s glare intensified. “You wanna end up wearin’ your fuckin’ drumsticks where the sun don’t shine?”
II raised his hands in mock surrender, though the grin never left his face. “Don’t tempt me.”
The banter escalated quickly after that.
The room practically buzzed with the gleeful chaos that Simon’s presence had unwittingly unleashed. IV was now scrolling through the comments on one of the fan edits, reading them aloud to the room with unbridled glee, each of them taking the piss out of him in the way only people comfortable with each other could.
Strangely enough, it reminded him of Johnny, a familiar mix of camaraderie and mischief that tugged at a memory he hadn’t expected to surface. It stirred an unexpected pang of nostalgia in Simon, a faint echo of Johnny’s effortless knack for turning every moment into a laugh at someone else’s expense—usually his.
“He could snap me like a glow stick and I’d thank him for the privilege,’” II read out loud, barely containing his laughter. “Oh, this one’s pure gold—‘Not to be dramatic, but I would sell my soul just to hear him say ‘move along’ in person.’”
That did it.
Simon unfolded from the wall with a deliberate grace, his imposing presence rippling through the room like a cold wind sweeping across still water. The breadth of his shoulders, the unyielding lines of his form clad in black, cast him less as a mere bodyguard and more as some silent, vengeful sentinel. His shadow stretched across the room, swallowing the laughter as it reached II and IV, Lynsey’s phone still clutched between them.
“You’ve had your fun,” he rumbled, his voice steeped in the kind of authority honed through years of barking orders in the SAS. “Now knock it off, before I confiscate that phone.”
“Go on, Riley,” IV shot back with a grin, entirely unafraid. “Confiscate me next.”
Simon didn’t dignify that with a response.
He turned away from them, a quiet dismissal, and walked toward the door. His hand reached for the handle, his gloved fingers brushing against the cool metal. But just as he was about to leave, a voice cut through the air again, the familiar, teasing tone of III echoing in the now-muted chaos of the room.
“Don’t forget to give us a little twirl on your way out, Security Daddy.”
Bloody hell.
If this gig didn’t kill him, these muppets just might.
Friends to Lovers/ Vessel x reader
Summary: A close friendship evolves into love after a show.
Words: 633
FLUFF
You and Vessel have been really good friends for many years.
There's always been a certain level of intimacy and trust between you. Sometimes a cuddle on the shoulder, sometimes a gentle rub of the thumb over the cheek or a kiss on the hair.
His bandmates tease you, claiming Vessel and you are in a relationship and you both just don't know about it yet.
"I'm so tired." You mumble, dropping onto the black leather sofa in the backstage area, exhausted. A sigh of relief escapes you as you watch Vessel out of the corner of your eye as he removes his white mask with the red details in front of a mirror
"What about me?" He asks with a grin and opens the clasp at the back of his head. "You just stood next to the stage and watched. I gave it my all and sang."
"And danced." You add with a grin.
"Yes, and danced." Vessel replies with a soft chuckle and places the mask next to the black charcoal he applied to his body before his performance... or rather, you applied it.
"I could sleep through a whole year after the tour." He says and watches his charcoal-stained face in the mirror for a moment.
You lean your head back against the soft backrest of the sofa and look up at the ceiling with a grin. "You say that every time and then you sleep just like you did on tour, maybe an hour longer." You say playfully.
Vessel laughs softly and sits down right next to you. His shoulder brushes yours as he leans back with a relieved sigh.
You tilt your head to the side and look at him.
It doesn't take him long to notice your gaze and he turns his head towards you. "What's wrong? You look like you've seen an alien."
A grin creeps onto your lips. "I just find it amusing how messed up you look after every show." You say with a shrug and raise your hand to brush your fingers across his cheek.
He rolls his eyes playfully and gently clasps your wrist. "Go ahead and make fun of me." He says, rubbing small circles on your skin.
You look at each other in a moment of silence, his gaze darts from your eyes to your lips.
And finally, the other Sleep Token guys would be standing next to you cheering, Vessel slowly moves his face closer to yours.
You can literally imagine III's cry of joy as your lips meet in a gentle kiss.
Butterflies ignite in every fiber of your body. Your lips melt together as if they were made for each other.
But they part far too quickly.
You open your eyes as Vessel leans back. "That was..." You whisper.
"It was perfect." Vessel says softly in a husky voice. His thumb circles your wrist gently.
"I never thought..." A smile forms on your lips. "...that this would ever happen between us."
"It just felt right to do it." He looks into your eyes and can't help the playful tone in his voice. "And besides, we're already very intimate with each other anyway."
You grin softly and answer playfully. "Basically, it's the same as before."
"Exactly." He leans closer to you. "Except now I'll kiss your lips more often instead of just your forehead."
Vessel looks at you with a mischievous gleam in his eyes. "Is that okay?"
"Mhm." You hum, which is enough of an answer for Vessel as he gently presses his lips back to yours.
If III knew what was happening next to his room... he'd probably jump for joy, just like your heart leaps in your chest as you gently return Vessel's kiss.
