This is my first (pilot) issue of this series I want to explore!

What is The Sleeping Debt about?

Our two guys, Benny and Weston, had stayed up far too long and now banished to serve as props to other people's dreams as punishment for their poor sleep.

These two now must serve their time in the dream realm to pay off the sleep debt they've accrued through their lack of sleep in order to escape.

This specific comic has Benny and Weston in a classroom dream, unaware that there is someone also in debt like them controlling this dream with malicious intent to haunt this story's dreamer.

I remember when I was young and burned the candle at both ends. I didn't need that much sleep, I'd be fine!

Nowadays, I'm paying all that sleep debt back with interest. I'm always tired and often sleepy, and I just don't have that many productive hours in the day.

Dehydration, Insomnia, and Getting Things Done

So I had a bad bout of insomnia last night due in large part, I think, to dehydration and sleep debt. Sometimes this happens and I know I need to be more mindful of these things during the week or I will pay a very real price on the weekend.

It's Saturday morning now and I should be doing jujitsu across town, but I had to text my friends and let them know I wouldn't be making it. I already feel bad from not sleeping, but having to miss a practice makes me feel embarrassed, like I'm failing and I'm a defective person.

But I refuse to accept failure on any front, which means I refuse to accept the narrative of my unworthiness. Setbacks are inevitable. I will not inflate them by focusing on them. Instead, I will make use of externally imposed downtime to plan, contemplate, and improve my overall attitude.  That's what I'm doing and the world has to get with my program because, in my life, I'm the only one making the decisions.

There is also Sleep Debt.

The tl;dr of it is that if you don't get enough sleep on a regular basis, it adds up over time and can affect your cognitive and physical functions. So when you sleep enough to "catch up on some sleep" that's literally what your body is doing. Paying the sleep debt with some good old fashioned sleep.

Okay but who wants to explain to me why there are days I just sleep? All day? And then feel better?

hi all!! first of all i wanted to give huge thanks to everyone who helped me and my family, whether it be through comms or donations! it means so, so much to all of us!! secondly, unfortunately we still are in urgent need of help: my mom got a terrible job that barely gives any payment as she's still looking for better jobs, and we're still full of debts while we're also trying to sustain food for both us and the animals we rescued from terrible conditions (such as chickens). this was my first post about it if you want to check it out, i'm willing to explain our situation better if needed!

Alright, we should be ready for that prism break! It'll have to be a stealth operation, but we can handle that, right? ... Well, let's go over the plan. Last week, Sweet Anon and Dead Hater Anon broke up on @tulipsempai 's blog. A situation that we silently witnessed. For my part, it was alongside @snickeruwu; where this came out:

The knowledge of Wei Wuxian giving up his golden core for Jiang Cheng is one that keeps him up at night, but the one that hurts him the most is wondering how much of it was purely because he cared for Jiang Cheng.

How much of what Wei Wuxian sacrificed was purely because he wanted to help Jiang Cheng?

How much of what Wei Wuxian did for him was willing?

How much of what Wei Wuxian did was out of a debt, a debt to the family and Sect that saved him from the streets, a life debt that in his eyes could never be paid back?

How many interactions between them were tainted by this debt that ran deeper than them, ran deeper than what a human can and should reasonably be able to do?

Was there ever a point where Jiang Cheng was ever just Jiang Cheng and not the son of the Sect Leader who saved Wei Wuxian and gave him the final orders to always protect him?

And did Jiang Cheng ever once give Wei Wuxian any sign that he too wished they could just be brothers friends?

Or has Jiang Cheng himself gained the same debt as Wei Wuxian, one that will haunt him on hot summer days near the lotus ponds with no company but silence, one that will haunt him as he closes his eyes and dream of happier simple days, one that will forever remain unpaid because the person he owes refuses to accept it.

What is the point of a debt if it's not recognised by the one its owed to?
