This was made right after I saw the jokey answer about prince Hubble on @skyscrapergods blog, and before the stuff about boabab got proposed, so it’s really space themed lol. I didn’t post it until now, cause yeah, but I wanted to share the art. And all the cool ideas about the different gods of this really cool au/world makes me want to draw them too. Idk

I am once again obsessed with @skyscrapergods concept of alicorn ascension.

Just thinking about the rest of the mane six as immortal massive deities.

Applejack, goddess of orchards and agriculture, spreading good harvest of each crop as she walks, turning the seasons with her hooffalls

Fluttershy, goddess of the wild lands and animals everywhere. Wherever she steps, biomes explode into being. Her tears can heal the most grievous of wounds. Her mere presence is what drives the mating seasons of various beasts (as an act of preservation and conservation)

Pinkie Pie, goddess of mirth and joy. Where she walks there is no sadness. She also brings comfort to the grieving with soft reminders of happy memories with their loved ones, not taking their sense of loss from them but merely reminding them of the joy that causes the grief to be so profound, and in so doing, easing it.

Rainbow Dash, goddess of storms and weather. She does not walk the earth but rather the reaches of the sky. The most fickle of the goddesses, the weather changes with her mood as much as for the needs of ponies, and just like she can provide rains in a drought, she can bring storms to calm seas.

And Rarity, most unlike all the rest, goddess of gemstones and craft. She slumbers deep beneath the earth. Her dreams form veins of precious stone and metal, and her nightmares form earthquakes and cave-ins. Her spirit runs through the night, accompanying Princess Luna to provide dreams of inspiration to all those who create with their hands.

(Honestly, I'd love to make a sub-AU of your AU with your permission, credit to you ofc, skyscrapergods. I'm genuinely so obsessed with the concept.)

You are Surrounded by Flies (fic)

Fun fact! Shining Armor is the last mortal Cadance loved. After his passing, she took so long to grieve, that by the time she emerged from the fog, she was closer to the subject of Flies than to a normal pony. Shining Armor was with her for almost half her lived lifetime, much like a friendship lasting a year is eternity to a child but a blink in the perspective of an elder on their deathbed.

Interestingly, Flies wasn't written about her and Shining Armor, but a different goddess who reached out to an ordinary pony after she was already so far beyond mortality that she no longer understood their lifespans.

Anyway your ask has spurred me to create something terrible, I hope you like it!

This is Thalassa, Goddess of The Seas. She's based on @skyscrapergods au, which is an absolutely astounding au that everyone should go check out!

Once an average pegasus, Thalassa spent much of her time bemoaning the lackluster nature of the waters of the world. After all, the seas and oceans of that time were no grander than a simple pond for all they had to offer. It's surface stayed still, if not for the action of wind or creature, and it's depths were no more fascinating with only common species around.

So Thalassa dreamed. She molded new creatures of any and every proportion, thought of waves lapping gently at the shore, and crafted stories with colorful backdrops and budding civilizations.

Such was her devotion that she soon grew gills to let her stay underwater indefinitely, her wings turned to fins to better explore, her hind legs became a tail to let her dart through the water, and the beginnings of a new horn began to grow from her head.

Sightings of the mysterious merpony spread through word of mouth, stoking the public's curiosity of the sea. In turn, the sea and Thalassa both grew as well. Newly formed currents allowed life to move and thrive. Soon, whole new species began to appear, creating new niches and patterns which in turn beget even more species to be created.

With the new life the ocean brought, Thalassa's place was cemented as the Goddess of The Seas.

Currently, she's around 30000ft long, though very little of that actually translates into height. Her horn has become encrusted in a blooming coral reef, which thrives even when she's out of the water thanks to the power provided by her horn.

I have more lore on her, but I also haven't finalized her design yet, so I'll wait on that until later!

Yesterday I went and passed the whole evening reading about @skyscrapergods 's my little pony au, the existential dread giant gods really got me.

In particular this post about the two sis got me thinking about their relationship, how gods perceive emotions and about the fact that these two have basically forgot about how they used to interact. And idk probably it has already been done but I thought, what if after all this time, their paths begin to cross?

Basic concept: After the tree of harmony died and the elements were destroyed, the mane 6 became the new conduits for the elements. Over time, the magic changed them, and they changed it. They slowly morphed into gods, part of the very nature of their world. Now the planet seems to govern itself, with the ancients quietly running it invisible to most.

The Common Folk: MLP Tails AU

After consuming a boat load of @skyscrapergods mlp au, I realized I wasn't satisfied by simply converting ponies to cats. In fact, just slapping wings or a horn on a cat and calling it a day never looked or felt quite right. (Perhaps because existing myths rarely have horned or feathering wings cats, whereas unicorn and pegasi have strong foundations in mythology.) So I began to ponder how else to express the hallmark traits of "magical" and "winged/flies." The cloudhoppers came most naturally. They're largely based around sugar gliders mixed with cats. They have webbing between their front and back legs. Their flying specific magic allows them more distance and maneuverability than one would first expect from a human perspective. While they can adjust wind currents around the to reach higher altitudes, they can not take off straight up like the pegasi of mlp.

When standing upright, their gliding web hangs like a curtain down from their body. A rudder fin like tail helps them make sharp and precise movements in the air. Their webbed paws and light bones aide in allowing them to walk on fluffy clouds and most live their lives in the sky.

Those that do choose to land can get back up by jumping off a high point. Even a tree will do. Most cities on the ground have a small forested area designated as a landing and take off zone for cloudhoppers.

If I write about the species unicorns developed into or any of the other species/world/cultures ideas I have this post will get ridiculously long. Expect more installments. Hello! I’m obsessed with your mlp redesigns and everything about them and I had a thought about Twilight. By the end of the show we see that she grew to be like Celestia in height. In your story would Twilight ever grow to be like her? Or would she forever stay smaller than the rest?

I'm not sure about Twilight's body size. It will become very massive for sure, much bigger than ponyville.

But her mane and tail will encompass the planet in streams and rivers of twilight magic, connecting the kingdom of equestria and beyond.

just wanna say, i dont even go here (MLP fandom) but i love looking at your stuff and how you link related things in your descriptions. really gives it a 'wiki rabbit hole' feeling- which is fun

Yesss it's so absolutely sprawling, it's hard to navigate. I definitely am going for a sort of TVtropes vibe of immersion. I feel its easier and more fun to discover the AU by following linked concepts than to go through chronologically.

I also try to make all my links "skyscrapergods.tumblr.com" links instead of "tumblr.com/skyscrapergods" because the former can be viewed by anyone, while the tumblr-first links start demanding people log in to tumblr to view them.

I want my stuff accessible to all, not just tumblr users.

Fascinating!

It seems infection AUs are all the rage these days, this is the fourth one I've seen after an ask turned me onto etc.etc's swamp fever business.

I love horror, especially body horror! And I also love diseases!

I have not gone horror with my AU, however. It's more of a "the world is vast and beautiful" rather than apocalyptic. I think if I were to tackle swamp fever, it would be horrifying but also fun and beautiful. I don't currently have any plans for an infection AU, but you can read about vampire bat virus here.

It can't be spread from pony to pony like swamp fever can.

I'm not currently fixating on ponies right now! I need to make money and finish commissions/restructure prices, and take more commissions since I don't have a job anymore.

The nightmare moon/Celestia battle is very interesting, as is flurry heart's powers and adult form. Both of these come with art that I never posted because my fixation ended in the middle of it.
