What's your process when it comes to finding certain papers for the texture you want? Do you usually try and come across it in stores?

I dont have a process for this yet, I've only ever bought a multimedia paper pad from walmart (only used for the 2 gouache paintings ive ever done) and then a watercolor block online (haven't used it yet for anything but swatches because im scared)

#i otherwise only draw in my sketchbook ive had for 6 years and am 4 pages away from finishing #its 120 gsm and flimsy as hell #the next sketchbook i got is 150 gsm i think im not sure but it feels thicker and has texture vs my smooth current one #i also got it online though #the only art store in my city is a michaels #so not many options #skunk mail #k1ng0fsug4r

So, yeah, I still want to draw Boomer Express. Having a full time job makes this difficult but not impossible. I still feel very self-conscious about the quality of the art and feel like I need to just let the art come out imperfect though. It's either imperfect or no one else will ever know what these characters are up to, and I think the former is better than the latter. as usual after a bad week my brain is like "you need to reinvent yourself!" so it keeps throwing ideas at me like "you should change your wardrobe, you'll be more human if you dress better!" and "also have you considered one of these 500 new hobbies" and "maybe you should dye your hair!"

anyway if I post something insanely stupid that I shouldn't have spent money on, the fake self-care demons got to me.

#i really wanted this dress i saw on ig but its. $445.#which like. its all hand-dyed and handmade and also the price was converted to CAD so like that's reasonable. but.#now im sad i can't impulse buy an elf dress #and I didn't like the ig post or follow the account so it's lost forever lol #anyway. was also thinking of getting back into jewelry making...the problem is i don't wear a whole lot of jewelry #and what i make is made with Michaels quality supplies so like. I can't exactly sell it #oh well i can make a dragon hoard of shiny shinies i guess #might actually dye my hair tho. it's been natural for mostly 2 years now so i think it's recovered enough that i can dye it again #and have the dye actually stick and not immediately wash out/all but the roots wash out so i have a weird red skunk-stripe #also need to trim my split ends which I've been meaning to do for a month now #anyway the Self Care But Only Badly And Aesthetically vibe is strong today

im thinking of changing isaacs last name, it IS used as a surname however im afraid that because it is also a first name that it will be confusing...

#i really only mark ethnicity for the purposes of finding surnames bc he IS a skunk right #that is his race #however since these characters are all americans i have to figure out their ancestry which is usually european #isaac having greek ancestry blake turkish on her dads side etc #i think isaac is the only one with SEMI recent immigration #not his parents or grandparents tho like great grandparents #well blake technically had more recent immigrants her grandfather was a british immigrant #but i meant for surname purposes that was on her moms side #so ermmmmm #Michail -> Michelakis ?#its basically the same thing exempt it goes from michael (english spelling) - 'son of michael' name meaning #again it IS used as a last name but its usually just #a different spelling of michael #sanctuary #actually according to this website michail is a more popular surname #however it still sounds like a first name so :/#oh also to be clear bc i said skunk was his race #i do NOT do animal racism in the story lmao its honestly more charater flavor #characters species ARE relevant but only for like. size purposes #eve is large because she is the largest species of canine and THAT is relevant #not the fact she is a wolf at all #also mild religion shit bc jesus IS dog jesus in the story #but yeah just saying bc i personally think animal racism is REALLY hard to do well #and i dont want to tackle it unless i think of a story ABOUT that #which sanctuary is not
