Reposted from @twtoxmd1 Strange Worlds 8 from Avon in 8/1952 features a ākillerā robot cover along with a woman-in-red. Strange Worlds ran from issues 1-10 then paused until restarting with issue 18 which picked up from its Eerie title which ended with issue 17. Strange Worlds then ran again from issue 18 to 22 ending in 9/1955. Some outstanding artists and writers worked on Strange Worlds this issue had Everett Raymond Kinstler, AC Hollingsworth, Joe Kubert and Harry Lazarus work inside. Lots of great robot covers but this one stands out- those robot hands seem made for no other purpose but strangling! Also like the logo and background colors here with the yellow and green and the red, while not a lot, really pops! #robotcover #31daysofhorrorcomics #iggoldenagecomics #cgccomics #goldenagecomics #precodehorrorcomics #comicbookcollection #comicbookcollecting #igcomicbookfamily #comicbookcollection #comicbookcommunity #avoncomics #atlascomics #achollingsworth #billeverett #skullcover #horrorcomics #strangeworlds #avoncomics #everettraymondkinstler #achollingsworth #harrylazarus #joekubert #womaninred https://www.instagram.com/p/CljxzW0MCJr/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Yarmulkes, the round, brimless caps worn by Jewish men and boys, have a long history of royal lineage over the centuries. According to some experts, the origin of the yarmulke dates back to the time of the Babylonian Talmud, between the 3rd and 6th centuries, when it was possibly first invented in what is now modern-day Iraq. The rabbis would wear special hats, which were referred to as kippot, meaning āskullcoverā in Hebrew. Eventually, the traditional yarmulke we know today was born.
This humble article of clothing has a deeper connection to royalty outside of the spiritual sense. In 16th century Poland, the King of Poland declared that members of his court were to wear doffed hats while he was in attendance. This practice was meant to separate the court from the Christian clergy and pay homage to the Kingās own Jewish faith. Furthermore, it observed the greater custom of respectful submission to authority over oneās own impulses.
In light of this history, itās no surprise that yarmulkes have since become an integral part of Jewish culture worldwide. Wearing the yarmulke has come to signify a deliberate act of honoring the divine and demonstrating humility when in the presence of people or a higher power.
No matter their specific origin, the yarmulke has become a potent symbol of respect and reverence. For those who believe in God, the yarmulke serves as a reminder that a divine power greater than ourselves exists. It has come to represent a personās connection to the Almighty and his faithfulness to the Jewish community. Like other royal symbols, the yarmulke stands for loyalty and strength ā even if it is ever so small.
