Lots of sketching going on over here! My pottery always starts with a drawing. Sometimes a doodle on a post-it, and sometimes sketch after sketch tweaking angles and proportions. It’s such a relaxing process. When I can mentally rotate the piece, and can picture how it will feel as I make it, it’s time to build. This new orchid planter form is almost done. There is just that bottom “unresolved” section that remains a blurry bit in my brain. Flat? Arched between back feet? Curved inward?One more sketch. Just one more sketch. Let’s Draw It Out: Flax Light Yoke Increase

First thing’s first: I love Chroma.

Second: I love this Flax Light pattern.

Third: I found it useful to read the whole thing through first, then sketch out my yoke increase to make sure my stitch count was accurate, and the marker placement was correct.

One thing that was slightly less than clear, was the marker placement for the garter stitch that occurs on the sleeves. The pattern states right after the ribbing of the collar, you need to knit one row and increase a certain number evenly. What’s a little fuzzy is there’s no clear example of this to base your stitches on. 

My assumption was that the increases (4 for the size I’m making) would be distributed evenly where the markers are for the yoke increase. FALSE

What it should have specified: you’d need to take your total # of stitches, and divide by the amount of increases you’d need to do. That number is the number of knits before an increase BEFORE you place the markers for the sleeve.

It also says that placing markers for the garter portion is optional. I would have just included those markers in the pattern regardless. It’s just a good idea if you’re someone who gets into a trance when knitting. Guilty.

I had to take out my yoke increase and start over after I had increased at the marker, but we’re all good now. Also I got to play with my fun dot paper and colored pens. So, it’s a win-win.
