Note: This does take place right at the beginning of the Gelfling rebellion and before the Garthim Wars. These three only recently learned about the uprising and are still unaware of the deaths in the skeksis' circle.

Wow, this comic has been sitting on my laptop since 2020, but I want it to see the light of day despite being unfinished. I have one more unfinished comic that hasn't been touched in years. I might touch it up a bit before posting.

SkekNa's sprites are now complete, here's a few of them. Out of all the Skeksis to appear in the game, he is the charactest you LEAST want to see smiling; it probably means an game over state is near.

Small thing I want to mention now: not all of the Skeksis will be major characters. We will be including 12-14 of them, all of which you will be able to interact with, but only 5 will have game routes. SkekNa is not a major Skeksis, but his opinion of you will influence the others, and vice versa.

Also, we're probably not going to manage the original plan to release the preview for the first part of the game this month. I am going to tentatively suggest it will be late October now.

2023 art summary. I finished more stuff than I thought I did! I also participated in a few fandom events this year, and those were all great experiences for me so yay.

@thebibliomancer inspired me, so let's hash out some writing prompts themed around the Skeksis having game nights.

Feel free to use these as inspiration, tags are appreciated but not necessary.

- One of the only times they attempted to include skekMal resulted in a game where they had handed a trinket (via several individuals to weaken the scent) to a random gelfling. Basically, a pretend hunt... they had to call for a healer and ban them from future game nights. (They now "play" an advanced version with skekSa.)

- skekSil getting caught with over ten doctored sets of playing cards sewn into their sleeves. (Sil: "Is just latest fashion!" Ekt: "It most certainly isn't!")

- skekOk is both banned from word games, but also the judge when spelling or existence is called into question. (Ok: "You know what might make this easier?" So: "Oh hush and tell me if they misspelled unnecessary." Ok: "Ugh, fine. They missed an 'n'.")

- skekShod is in a similar case but for things like Monopoly. They actually quite enjoy playing banker though, so it's less of a sore spot for them.

- skekTek is surprisingly gifted at movement games like Twister before losing their arm. They're also a very common judge, as they aren't terribly fond of most games.

- skekUng and skekNa are menaces in strategy games. Often times, the others will have gone to bed and wake up to them still playing. (So: "Oh for the love of the Crystal, flip a coin and get out of my sight. The servants can't make the morning meal with you two ceaselessly squabbling over inches of territory!")

- skekOk has attempted to run a game of Dungeons and Dragons ONCE. They got so fed up with the other's refusing to cooperate, they dropped a full sized red dragon on their level one characters and annihilated them all. (Ok: "I rather liked that part.")

- skekLach has very strict rules placed on them as far as playing games where they all share pieces. They have to have several handkerchiefs and wear a scarf to prevent... incidents.

- skekAyuk was caught slipping nullroot into snack to try and win in the past.

- skekLi was the first banned from game night after bragging about outsmarting skekSo at poker. (So: "Ah, yes. Very clever, my Satirist...oh, and by the way?" Li: "Yess~?" So: "skekZok will be thrilled to test their new pets out on you for this transgression.")

- skekEkt adores games and doesn't care about if they win or lose... unless it's trivia. ((They're just like me.))

- Thra's equivalent of Jackbox Party Pack is banned for causing a fight so severe that: skekUng broke their hand punching a wall, skekSil broke their tail from falling on it to avoid said punch, skekNa gave skekVar a black eye, and skekZok caught a cup on their bill after it was thrown in the chaos.

- They sometimes involve the gelfling if no neutral party can be found for judging. Ordon has stepped in a few times.

I know a lot of people are drawing skekSa as this buff, feathery female, but I imagine her as looking somewhat like skekNa, but... you know... better looking and with blue and purple hair/feathers. But I think it's an 100% consensus that skekSa is flipping GORGEOUS.

SkekSil the Chamberlain: (gasping as he clamped his beak) 😨😰🫢

*SkekSo starts to zap and blast the other Skeksis (sans SkekLach, SkeVar and SkekMal, who are all dead, while the others, SkekUng, SkekNa, SkekShod, SkekSa and SkekLi, are all absent, ) with his Darkening-fuelled sceptre.*

Skeksis: (in terror and pain) 😱😱😱😱😱😱!!!

SkekSo: IDIOTS! IMBECILES!!! 👿👿

SkekAyuk the Gourmond: (as he gets zapped from behind before ducking behind a pillar) Ow ow ow ow ow ow!

*SkekSo slammed his sceptre down before he sighs in frustration and sits down on his throne, wheezing in exhaustion due to abusing the power of the Darkening weakening him even further.*

SkekSo: Oh, they’re hopeless. A disgrace to all of Skeksis kind. 😓

While skekLi, skekSa, skekNa, and skekGra were exiled and or left, they had their reasons and we have an idea of what they were doing. But for skekUng and skekShod are a little weird because we don’t really have a clue. In Hup’s AoR comic, skekShod was attending Tithes, yet wasn’t of the Castle. If skekVar was the Skeksis military leader for about 800 years, then what was skekUng doing?

It's very possible skekShod was collecting tithes from the other clans while everything else was happening. SkekOk and skekLach were only at the Vapran tithing ceremony and came back to the Castle as soon as it was done.

But with skekUng we don't really have a clue from lore. However, the one clip from the Crystal Calls with 17 of the 18 SkekSis titles written on a white board suggests that he was known as the Spy Master before becoming the Garthim Master. But that's just guessing.

Birthday Special:

Since today is my birthday I figured I’d do a short story for you guys as SkekSha as you all know is pretty much my Skeksona. It will feature most of the canon Skeksis as well as two Ocs of people who I’ve now made friends with in this wonderful fandom. Enjoy! I will have a drawing done later as well for this scene. I know Skeksis don’t really have birthdays but I thought it would be fun.

It was early morning and SkekSha’s birthday and her four best friends, SkekNor, SkekSiv, SkekLach and SkekEkt had the idea to throw a special surprise party and banquet in her honor. They got SkekSo’s permission of course and he agreed as he too wanted to do something special for her. SkekSo ordered all the Skeksis to help SkekNor, SkekSiv, SkekLach and SkekEkt decorate the throne room while he went to spend time with her and also distract her. He knew she’d be a little suspicious but being her mate, it was the least he could do as if anyone else tried SkekSo was almost certain that they would only make her really suspicious that something was going on or depending on who went to distract her they might spoil it all together so it would be best if he did it himself.

He spent the morning actually offering her cuddles in bed and also reassuring her that she could sleep in if she wanted as it was her birthday after all. All the while keeping a close eye on her. An hour later, SkekSiv came to SkekSha’s room and let SkekSo know that the decorations were finished and SkekSha could come to the throne room now. So he nuzzled her awake and said “Darling, put on your best robes and come with me for a minute.” To which she replied confused by his commands “Why Sire?” Only for him to reply “Because I said so and because you won’t want to miss what I want to show you.” She got dressed after that and once she did, SkekSo covered her eyes with one hand and SkekSha said unsure of what he was doing “What are you doing Sire?” To which SkekSo answered “Do you trust me my love?” She nodded at this as she said “Of course I do.” SkekSo then began guiding her to the throne room.

Once they arrived SkekSo said “Alright darling, you can open your eyes now.” She did as asked and what she saw almost brought tears of joy to her eyes. There was a banner hanging in the throne room that read “Happy Birthday SkekSha” on it and all the Skeksis she trusted there as obviously after all the pain SkekShod and SkekNa caused her SkekSo for sure didn’t want them there ruining her special day and the banquet table was clearly set up in her honor by SkekAyuk. As she looked around the other Skeksis said at once “Happy Birthday Empress!!!” After the other Skeksis said this she teared up a tad as she said “Guys, you didn’t have to do this for me.” Only for SkekSo to answer “Of course we did my love. It’s your birthday after all and we all agreed to make it special.” Before giving her a kiss and he said “Happy Birthday my love.” Before he presented her with a gift that was surprisingly well wrapped.

SkekSha opened it and inside was a beautiful golden necklace with a diamond in the center. She then said with a smile “Thank you Sire, it’s beautiful!” Causing him to smile back as he said “Your welcome darling.” Afterwards he kindly helped her put it on. Then she opened her gifts from the other Skeksis. SkekNor got her a beautiful tail bracelet, SkekSiv got her two matching golden bracelets that matched her crown as well as the first necklace SkekSo ever gifted to her, SkekLach gave her a trinket she got from the Gelfling as an offering that she thought SkekSha might like, SkekEkt made her a beautiful sparkling sky blue robe, SkekZok gave her a nice bracelet with ruby gemstones, SkekSil got her a very nice golden decorative piece for her new robes. SkekAyuk made SkekSha the best cooked Nebrie for her birthday dinner, SkekOk got her a journal as he knew she liked to write in her free time, SkekVar got her a new decorative armor helmet, SkekUng gave her a new sword, SkekSa gave her a new Sifa made charm and SkekMal gave her a decorative fur pelt. As she opened each gift she thanked each of her comrades.

Later that night, when she went to bed SkekSo kindly stayed with her and said as her eyes slowly closed “Good night my love, happy birthday.” To which SkekSha tiredly answered “Thank you Emperor.” Before falling asleep in his arms.
