Week #4 BRM 2

Zero and qual with CCOs

Monday: 5 mile time trial. We have to run 5 miles under 40 mins in order to complete the course. I did not complete it in under 40 mins, but I am pretty pleased with my time. I ran a 40:57.

mile 1: 7:45

mile 2: 15:57

Mile 3: 24:00

Mile 4: 32:36

Mile 5: 40:57

I started out a little too fast. I should have went out at an 8:15/8:30 and then sped up. The next time I know for a fact I will pass. We also ran it on the mile silt track, which is a little long. We rucked to the zero range again and zeroed CCOs. We got out pretty early, around 1630, and I studied for the weapons exam that we have coming up.

Tuesday: Bad start to the day. We were duty squad so I told my team to wear pants prior to PT, then they were in formation and CPT Switzer was mad because pants were not part of the uniform put out. I took the blame for the entire squad and got a minor minus (Green card). We did a circuit:

20 min AMRAP

5 pull-ups, 10 push-ups, 15 squats

Station 2

5 min med ball sit-ups, 5 mins toe to bar, 5 mins drivers (25lbs), 5 mins kettle bell swings (20lbs).

We rucked to the range, and did a practice qualification. I’m still not 100% pleased with my zero on my CCO, but I think I’ll be okay. I just need to hold high left on my 300m. After the range we had a class and cleaned weapons. Grabbed dinner at the chinese buffet with some friends (think it is kosher even though the buffet is located above a pet shop haha?). Wednesday: For PT we ran to the track and did 3X600m race pace and 800m recovery in between each set. Ran back to the company and did squats and dead lifts. This was a very long day because not only did we qualify, we also did night qualification with our NODs and peq15s which was pretty sick. We didn’t leave the range until 23:30. We also did a platoon competition again and our platoon won! SO no more P.O.G stick for us. It was 1/2 mile down and 1/2 mile back full kit with 2-180lb skedco’s, 4- 40lb dumb-bells and 1 person buddy carry at all times. We completed it in 12:32. Thursday: Today we took our weapons exam. It was pretty easy. Just know the calculations, and equations and specs for each weapons system. We cleaned weapons and got released for the long weekend.

Weekend: My brother came to visit, it was nice. Also, I went hiking in Alabama with some kids from my platoon. It was a really cool place to hike.

«Распил» бюджета в министерстве обороны США стал там весьма прибыльным делом. К тому, что было здесь опубликовано в ноябрьском материале «Пентагон провалил «первый в истории всесторонний аудит» насчет «нецелевого использования» (и это ещё мягко сказано) средств военного ведомства, уже сегодня можно приплюсовать следующие новости.

Известный американский ресурс «Defense One» поведал, что Пентагон был вынужден придать огласке факты коррупции. В появившейся на этих днях статье «Under Pressure,Pentagon Publishes a Contractor-Fraud Report» («Под давлением Пентагон публикует отчет о мошенничестве с подрядчиками») говорится следующее:

«It took a transparency advocate using a «Freedom of Information Act» request, but the DefenseDepartment last week released a congressionally mandated report on the extent of criminalcontractor fraud, naming nine firms that were suspended or debarred». – «Потребовалось применение запроса на основании «Закона о свободе информации», чтобы на прошлой неделе Министерство обороны опубликовало доклад о степени мошенничества со стороны преступных подрядчиков, назвав девять фирм, которые были отстранены от сотрудничества или их работа была приостановлена».

Этот отчет охватывает период 2013-2017 финансовые годы. В нем, в частности, указано: «There were 443 cases resulting in fraud-related civil judgments or settlements involving 546 defendants or respondents. The cases involved 111 individuals and 435 business entities subject to civil judgments or settlements that totaled $5,858,180,290». – «Было 443 дела о мошенничестве, в результате которых вынесены гражданские приговоры или урегулированы споры сучастием 546 обвиняемых или ответчиков. В делах участвовали 111 физических лиц и 435 юридических лиц, в отношении которых были вынесены гражданские решения или урегулирования на общую сумму 5.858.180.290 долларов США».

На всю Америку прогремели имена тех фирм-подрядчиков Пентагона, чьи сотрудники были уличены в преступлениях: «Advanced Solutions for Tomorrow, Inc.»; «B&J Multi Service Corporation»; «Matthews Manufacturing, Inc.»; «Nova Datacom, LLC»; «NP Precision, Inc.»; «Quantell, Inc.»; «Tab Construction Company, Inc.»; «Megabite Electronics, Inc.»; «Skedco, Inc». 

Также указано: «Мошенничество с закупками включает в себя, но не ограничивается ими – снижение затрат и расценок на рабочую силу, дефектное ценообразование, фиксирование цен, фальсификацию ставок, дефектные и контрафактные детали. Потенциальный ущерб от мошенничества с закупками выходит далеко за рамки финансовых потерь. Это преступление представляет серьезную угрозу для способности Министерства обороны достичь своих целей и может подорвать безопасность и боеготовность».

Виновные установлены, зло наказано. Однако, Нейл Гордон (Neil Gordon), следователь государственного надзора, который отслеживает мошенничество с подрядчиками Пентагона, заявил: «Мы разочарованы тем, что данный отчет о мошенничестве был намного менее подробным, чем тот, который был опубликован Генеральным инспектором в 2011 году. В целом, это еще раз напоминает о том, что подрядчики, совершающие мошенничество, не испытывают никаких последствий («there are no consequences»). Это уму непостижимо, насколько Министерство обороны готово снова и снова отдавать доллары налогоплательщиков тем же плохим исполнителям».

Значит, «распилили» примерно 6 миллиардов долларов. И это только то, что обнаружило следствие.
