We are very excited to announce the first SJM Pride Week!

This event will be run from February 23rd to March 1st 2025 (the week before Sydney Mardi Gras).

SJM Pride Week aims to create a safe and positive space in the fandom and highlight our amazing queer creators (and allies who make queer content ❤). 

We do not tolerate hate. Any unkind messages or comments will be deleted and will result in a block. To protect this space and our creators, we will not be airing these. 

There is always a time and place to have an in-depth discussion about representation in our favourite media, however, this is not the purpose of this event. There are always things that can be done better, but for this week we want to celebrate all the wonderful things about being queer.

SJM Pride Week Prompts

We're so excited to announce the prompts for SJM Pride Week 2025! All prompts are intentionally loose and open to interpretation. We've included some examples below if you need a push to get the ideas flowing.

Exploration - Is your character/ship exploring their identity, or trying something new together? 

Firsts - First crushes, first kisses, first times, first dates; was it cute and wholesome or just plain awkward?

Realisation - What made this character/ship realise their true identity? Was there a slow burn between two friends or were they suddenly overcome with gay panic? 

Gender - Does your character/ship follow traditional gender roles, or do they make their own rules? Is your character exploring different forms of gender expression? 

Family - Were their families accepting? Did they make their own family? Are they planning to have kids, if so how?

Love Language - How does this character show/receive love? Are they shut off from affection due to being hurt in the past or from fear of being rejected?

Free Day - Make this day yours, anything goes!

☆ You do not have to be queer yourself to participate in this event. We do not want to out people, so identities are not required to be mentioned. 

☆ Characters do not have to be canonically queer to be featured.

☆ SJM Pride Week supports all ships so long as they are queer focused/feature queer characters. This week is not exclusive to same-sex pairings. Rowaelin or Nessian x Reader, Non-binary OC, Lucriel realising they have feelings for each other, Asexual Reader, a shifter character transforming into a different gender (*cough* Lysaedion *cough*), what really happens in the birchin… Go for your life, make the barbies kiss!

☆ We will not tolerate any bigotry, bullying, hate, shipwars or kink-shaming of any kind. 

☆ All forms of media and content are encouraged and supported (fics, drabbles, art, moodboards, playlists, headcanons etc.). We accept all writing styles (canon, OC and x Reader fics are all equally welcome).

☆ There is no restriction on content. NSFW content is accepted but please tag appropriately. 

☆ We will not reblog or interact with any AI art.

Hey there! I am excited for your Pride event, but I am also a little confused - my first instinct would be to create queer content (gay smut, trans headcanons, whatever) for characters of SJM series. But you wrote it's to celebrate queer creators? How are you imagining that? Like content dedicated to a popular creator in the fandom, but they have to be queer? But not everyone announces their sexual orientation/identity on their blog so how is that supposed to work? Or do you just have to be queer/an ally to participate? Anyway, sorry if I completely misunderstood, but I would appreciate some clarification! 😅

Hey! Thank you so much for sending in this ask - we want to answer publically in case others have the same questions.

The aim of this week is to celebrate queerness within our fandom, but you do not have to be queer to participate. There isn't any entry exam! Allies are more than welcome to join in the fun.

We'll be announcing the prompts list very soon, which will hopefully provide more clarity. SJM Pride Week will be run like any other ship/character week - but there's flexibility on the pairings due to the nature of the theme.
