I'm gonna take the chance to rant about Yona-

Yo, ya all, she's an absolute sweetheart. I genuinely think she's great and her relationship with Sidon is really cute.

I've been overanalyzing Sidons character and emotional well being since day one. So I absolutely love what Yona does and represents for his character. Even from the start I felt like she had some parallels with Mipha. However the whole idea is that she isn't Mipha, and Sidon should stop treating her like such a cherished and kind person in his life that will wither away the moment he isn't looking.

The fact his grief and guilt holds him back from actually taking action, even tho he's constantly trying to be active and help means so much more to me then I can currently describe.

So Yona helping him come to his senses, saying that she misses who he was, that spark that drove him, that confidence and trust in the people he loves.

While I believe any character could have done that, the fact it was Yona makes me appreciate both Sidon and her more.

Cause it gives her a sense of "Hey, I love you, I'm not taking any of your shit. You're treating me like I'm fragile and it's hurting you and belittling me. Please get your shit together" and I respect her so much for that.

Do I think she was a little forced? Of course. But hey, at the end of the day, nothing stops us from making headcanons or shipping Sidlink. I am not the most extatic about the approach, but regardless of what Yona is, I like what she means for Sidon.

Also that moment when he finally got his courage and his theme kicked in- WHEN I TELL YOU I JUMPED UP AND STARTED KICKING MY FEET I MEAN IT-

Cause before that for a while his theme has been intermingling with Mipha's more and more. Both in botw and age of calamity.

Yes both tracks are undeniably simular, they are siblings after all- When his music kicked in it was unapologetically him and I can't stress how important that is.

OVERALL- While I think Yona's introduction was a little forced, I love what she means for Sidons character. She helped build him up which made me like her more. She genuinely cares. And I truly believe Sidon deserved all that great character development. Finally his story can go into healing, and I can thank Yona for that.

Cause let's face it, it was never gonna be Link, Nintendo won't let that boy comfort anyone FOR SHIT.

everything she said gave me very much “i want the best for the Zora domain and I want to help the person I’ve loved since I was a child get over the crippling loss of his sister.”

the worst you could accuse her of is having the mindset of “i’ve had a crush on the PRINCE since we were kids so i made sure i was a proper lady.” which still goes out the window when she says to Link “I really just want him to believe in himself again since he blames himself for his sisters death.”
