kickin' around and designing a few of my comic characters as Super Sentai villains at my friend's suggestion aaahah! It was super fun and a good idea!! I'm most proud of Sabre/Clash's, I had a strong concept to play with so it was also the easiest :^D

Finished drafting her design today so lemme introduce y’all to a new fanseries of mine called DREAMCATCHERS!! Pretty Cure

This is a rewrite/redesign of an old Precure fanseries I made back in 2019. Anyways, this is the new lead cure of the team, Cure Fantasy! She is the daughter of the rulers of the Dreamland Kingdom, and was sent to Earth to find the Legendary Pretty Cure to stop the Nightmare Realm from taking over! Her name is Princess Celestia (no relation to the horse) but goes as Celeste while on Earth and she is a white/rainbow cure!

The main themes of this series revolve around dreams, both the ones you have when you sleep and your aspirations. The rest of the cures are all childhood friends who ended up falling out later in life, and Celestia finding a way to bring them all back together.

About/Background

A youkai hunter displaced through time, Saru hails from the Sengoku Period of Japan where she served as a soldier to Oda Nobunaga. Originally from a farming family, the turmoil of the civil war convinced her to enlist under the guise of a man. Her plan would have worked if not for the awakening of her potential as a magical girl/youkai hunter.

Once found out, Saru was moved to a special training track that specialized in subduing the youkai that have become especially restless and aggressive due to the tumultuous times. She then joined a team put together by the most influential warlords in the land that understood allowing monsters and creatures to run about would only hurt everyone's ambitions and livelihoods.

Unfortunately, youkai are rightfully known as being as vicious as they are dangerous, and her team encountered a beast too great for all of them to handle, giving a fate worse than death by forcing them each into stasis.

Some 400 years pass before the monster holding her frozen in time is defeated by a new era of youkai hunters/magical girls. Though, she found that she's the only one that was freed. Further, she came back to a whole new environment, a completely different world despite her location never changing. Where once was forests and green as far as her eyes could see, a sea of shining metal and structures that stretch far into the sky, a cacophony of mechanical sounds in the distance. Gone were samurais and their horses, her family, friends, and allies.

Still, one thing hadn't changed: Youkai still threaten the peace of her country's citizens. Figuring that these circumstances being the same and her revival are linked by fate, Saru once again assumes her role as a youkai exterminator while doing her best to grow accustomed to this modern age.

[Persona Verse]

Bright, cheery, confident, and content with life, Saru's personality manifested a Persona from the Sun Arcana, Yorimitsu. Eventually, her Persona evolves into Kagutsuchi . While she hasn't figured out why she's been gifted this power, she knows it was done for a reason. That alone is enough for her to continue to shine on, to forge a path forward for her life and others.

Her Arcana is the Sun (the Star as a backup)

Personality

Saru can be summed up in one phrase: Go get 'em attitude! She's quite simple, never dwelling on things that make her think too hard or too long. She much prefers taking action, after all! Seize the day! Strike down your challenger! Complex thoughts only serve to muddy waters that ought to be clear. Fortunately, she also recognizes this aspect of herself and defaults to going along with the methods and opinions of people she believes are wiser than her. They think, she acts.

She gravitates towards physical activities like sports clubs but always offers a warm smile to those that come to her with a request. Despite her namesake being "Monkey", she acts far more like a loyal hound.

Abilities

Saru's main abilities all revolve around the control of thermodynamics. Unfortunately, she's not quite smart enough to realize the full potential of this power. Instead, she uses it to increase her own metabolism, essentially "speeding" herself up and "increasing" her physical outputs.

Yorimitsu/Kagutsuchi specializes in Nuclear spells and Physical spells. On top of these, Saru learns party buffs, charge, and concentrate.

So let's say you're obsessed with a certain fan favourite team from 2020 sweeping their way through a game in a tournament. It tickles your brain in all the right ways- the efficiency, the cooperation, the different but equally important roles, the complementary ways they work together like clockwork. So you decide to compile all four povs of them into one video. And you write a nice analysis post. Or fifteen analysis posts. But analyzing canon isn't enough- you need to fictionalise and sensationalise it. Make it bigger and better than it is. Dammit, you need to write fanfiction of it. Two years and 100k words later, you finally get to the scene. You think you'll finally be cured of your brain worms. But no. You decide to brave Reddit and post the original analysis (it shouldn't scare you as much as it should but it does.) Maybe this should've scared it out of you. Maybe you'll shake it off. Unfortunately, no. But what now? It's been three years. It haunts you. You've posted that post everywhere. You've written the fanfiction. You've dramatized it in every way possible- wait. With a deep resigned sigh, you open a doc and start planning your new original fiction-

idc about any thought process because either Mark or Jun should have been a girl. Or one should have been non-binary. We've had an amazing run when it comes to OC teams - Sage's team being three girls/two guys (along with one girl/one non-binary) and the Solar Rangers being three girls/two guys and Squadron Rangers being two girls/one non-binary/three guys and you expect me to go back to two girls/three guys? Potentially four guys if we're correct that Ryan could end up being their sixth ranger? Don't piss me off!!!!!!!!!! And Rita possibly being their mentor doesn't count!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm... thinking about the Holy Quintet as if Precure instead: as in, same characters, but the contracting is benign and Kyubey is just a fairy trying to stop the Walpurgisnacht from destroying the Earth. Kyubey doesn't mention that they're a clone fairy, that there are multiple of them and that somehow their existence feeds the Walpurgisnacht, but the team discover and happily resolve that later on anyway.

Madoka: Would be your classic optimistic Pink lead cure. Very kind hearted- I see her as bit of a blend of Tsubomi, Miyuki and Nodoka. She would thrive in a precure-style season. Cure Cheri.

Sayaka: Level-headed musical cure. Still has healing powers, more for others though, and likely has a violin magical item. Still has a massive crush on a boy she wants to help. Cure Forte. (Although, to nick a name from some of my oc's and match the C-names theme, Cure Classic, Crescendo, or Concert would work too. But I feel like Forte fits the best.)

Mami: The older Cure. Ribbon powers. Obsessed with food and hospitality. She always hosts the team at her place. Was a lone cure before Madoka transformed and Mami took her under her wing- although it was Madoka who ultimately convinced them to become part of a team. Cure Cake

Kyoko: The Red Cure. Disillusioned about the whole precure stuff and using her powers for herself when she comes across the others. Kyoko is most likely to be a morally neutral, or villain-turned cure. The others need to help show her that she can still believe in doing good and helping others, and Sayak and Madoka are perfect for that. Cure Carmine.

Homura: Purple Cure. She struggles with her powers at first, always seeming to be the weaker cure, even if she can slow down time for herself sometimes. Gets very frustrated, but Madoka always helps her out and encourages her. Likes Madoka very much. Is the weaker cure until they run into Walpurgisnacht a month into them being Precure, and all but her get wiped out. Homura manages to travel back in time by about a month, and the cycle begins again. She gets more and more experienced, and more prepared each time, able to help the others where they used to help her. As they work, they are able to delay the Walpurgisnacht a bit in each cycle, slowly building experience until they are able to defeat it entirely. Homura gets good at masking when she's gone back a cycle, because she gets to a point and decides she doesn't want to worry the others about their repeated impending doom, but when she does, Kyoko is still able to see through her, and Know. It doesn't stay hidden for long. Cure Chronos.

Nagisa would be an honorary sixth ranger, possibly even a saved mascot cure: Cure Cheese.

Uhh, the team name would be somthing like Beautiful Blossom Precure, as a theme to how they grow, but also how time shenanigans are going on.

Rocky Desantos: Red Ranger. Not an OC, but a veteran Ranger who ended up leading a team of new Rangers during 1999 (the year the fic is set in).

Lindsay McKay: Yellow Ranger. The preppy cheerleader/girly-girl fashionista.

Jesse Lawrence: Blue Ranger. A creative musician, who's a bit of a slacker.
