“You’re dating lieutenant Bishop?” Natasha stands in her place with her arms crossed over her chest, and a seemingly neutral look on her face. Although, Y/N that look is anything but neutral. “Maya Bishop of Station 19? Out of all the people in Seattle you started dating her?”
Letting out a sigh, Y/N shakes her head at her older sister’s words. “Yes, I am dating Maya. And I’m very happy with her.”
“But she’s so-“ she’s losing her resolve, steadily becoming more annoyed, “she’s reckless, Y/N. You haven’t seen her the same way I have.”
“I could say the same. I see how Maya is out of the job. She is sweet, and caring, and always treats me well.”
Natasha huffs. She knows she has no say when it comes to her sister’s relationship, but she can’t help herself, that’s her little sister after all, she basically raised her before going to army. “I’m still going to keep an eye on her. I don’t trust her with you.”
“Alright,” Y/N mumbles with a small giggle, “just please, don’t give her a hard time.” She gives Natasha a look, who just rolls her eyes and nods eventually. “Thank you.” Smiling, she makes her way out of her sister’s apartment.
Y/N walks into the station with a big box of food with her. What started out as bringing lunch or dinner to her girlfriend, ended up with basically feeding the whole Station 19 team. But she doesn’t mind, she knows they work hard and do long shifts, so cooking can sometimes be too tiring.
She makes her way upstairs, a big smile on her face when she sees most of the team hanging around the kitchen. “Dinner is here!” Y/N makes herself known.
Travis is the first one to walk over to her. “Our savior!” He takes the box and brings it to the kitchen counter so everyone can take their share of the food.
While the others are busy with the food, Maya comes over to hug and kiss Y/N. “Hi, my love.” She mumbles against her lips, a smile on her face.
“Hi.” Y/N giggles. “I missed you.”
“I missed you too.” Maya’s hand rests on Y/N’s waist, her fingers stroking her side softly. “Chief Ross is here.” She mumbles, clearing her throat as she straightens her back, as if just speaking Chief Ross’ name would make her appear out of nowhere.
“Has she done anything?”
“No, just keeps giving me looks.”
Y/N hums, “go eat.” She mumbles, kissing Maya’s cheek while gently pushing her towards the kitchen counter.
They walk over to the others, Maya making herself a plate while Y/N starts talking to the others. She quickly grew close to the whole team after getting together Maya. The team almost became like a second family, besides Robert Sullivan, but that’s just the same sisterly protectiveness that Natasha has towards her.
Maya sits down next to her, one of her hands resting on Y/N’s thigh while she eats with her free hand. “You aren’t eating with us?” She glances at her when there’s a break in the conversations going on.
“I ate before I came, wanted my hardworking girlfriend to have more to eat.” She grins, her eyes very discreetly going over Maya’s muscles.
Maya always sees it, but she likes it.
“Chief Ross!” Victoria exclaims suddenly. “Join us for dinner? Y/N brought it for us.”
“No, thank you.” Natasha’s eyes are on Y/N and Maya, studying at the latter woman’s every single move, as she has does ever since she found out they’re dating.
As Maya notices this sharp look trained on her, she goes to move her hand away from Y/N, but Y/N sets her own on top if it, giving her a reassuring smile.
“Hi, Nat.” Y/N smiles. “I didn’t know you were here today.”
“I didn’t know you’d be here either.”
Rolling her eyes with a smile, Y/N leans against Maya. “I’m here practically every day.”
Letting out a hum, Natasha nods. “I won’t be here for long, just checking on things.” Her eyes going to the hand on her sister’s shoulder at the word things, making it very clear for the three of them what she is talking about.
There’s a small frown on her face, small enough for no one else to recognize it but Y/N. The touch looks very soft, and safe. It kind of makes her feel worse, she was hoping for something to prove that Maya is irresponsible.
When Chief Ross finally leaves, Andy turns to Maya and Y/N. “Did she know you two are together?”
“I told her some time ago.”
She raises her brows, a playful grin on her face. “How’d she take that?”
“Like any older sister would.”
Y/N paces around the entry of the station, Jack’s words going straight put of her mind as she stresses for Maya’s return.
The rest of the team, and Chief Ross, are putting out a larger than average fire, and according to the news stations, it hasn’t been going too well.
“They’ll be okay.” Jack assures, his eyes following Y/N’s movement. “We know how to handle these kind of things.”
He gets no answer, just more silent pacing.
Of course she knows that the team is very capable, but she can’t help worrying about them. She’s a doomscroller, she has read every article there is about huge fires which have taken multiple firefighters’ lives.
The garage door opens. Y/N lets out a breath, her worries aren’t completely gone, but she is out of her head enough to make her way to the garage.
Everyone looks tense as they get out of the fire trucks, but they all also look alive, that’s enough for Y/N to go straight to Maya and pull her into an embrace.
Natasha sees this. She takes a step forward, ready to intervene in case Maya snaps because of her less than ideal mood.
“Baby.” Y/N whispers, one of her hands burrowing into Maya’s hair while the other rubs her back.
Maya wraps her arms around Y/N’s waist, pushing her face into the crook of her neck. “I’m okay.”
“You’re okay.”
She gives small smiles to the others, glad that they all got away with minimal damage, but otherwise she keeps all of her attention on her girlfriend.
After a while, her eyes connect to Natasha, who is still standing on her place. “Go change. I’ll drive you home and to work tomorrow, yeah? So you can leave your car here.” She whispers, kissing Maya before the blonde makes her way upstairs where the rest of the team is.
“Are you okay?” Y/N throws her arms around Natasha’s neck, bringing her to a hug.
“Yeah,” Natasha lets out a breath, “everyone’s a little beat up, but they’ll survive.” She mumbles, pulling away. They stare at each other for a minute. “Listen, I’m sorry. For doubting Maya. She’s..good to you, and you are good to her.”
Y/N smiles. “She’s the greatest.” She whispers. “Will be able to take care of yourself if I go take care of Maya?”
“Of course. Go care for your girlfriend.”
Giving Natasha a one last hug, Y/N goes upstairs to sit beside Maya in the dressing room and waiting for her to get ready to go home.

Note: I would like to Apologize for how long this took me to fulfil. This one shot has been almost done for MONTHS. Ugh. Hope you enjoy!
You were surprised she still had it. You gave it to her to use whenever she needed help. It was insurance to know that she would always be safe. However, it had been a long time since it had gone off. You last heard from her a year ago when she disappeared. You were sitting at your desk when you felt your drawer buzz. A part of you thought about ignoring it. To show her the same level of care she gave you, but you made a promise and weren’t one to break them. Whenever she would call, you would answer. Opening up the drawer, you pulled out a pager. It may have said a lot that she kept it. The same could be said about you. You looked at the location. She was close by. There was something about her that always seemed to call you in, a spell that called you to her web.
✦ .  ⁺   . ✦ .  ⁺   . ✦
“Sitting in the dark isn’t how to greet a friend.” You heard the smirk in her voice.
“I wouldn’t call us that,” you turned on the lamp next to the couch. The small apartment illuminated, and you stared at your ex. Natasha Romanoff. Avenger. Black Widow. She was no longer a redhead but a blonde cut into a bob. You crossed one leg over the other and held out the pager. “I’m surprised you still have it,”
“I never got rid of it,” you noticed the necklace around her neck and the charm you gave her- a star. It was Polaris, the North Star. You gave it to her on your first anniversary.
“What do you want?” you asked, ignoring her statement. She pointed to the empty spot next to you. You nodded, and she sat down, playing with the necklace.
“I need your help.” That wasn’t a surprise.
“Why don’t you ask the Avengers for help?” You asked. She glared at you. You knew why she couldn’t ask for their help; it was all over the news. The Avengers were disbanded after a very public fight in Germany. But you wanted her to say it.
“I can’t go to them. You are the only one I can turn to for help.” You leaned back on the couch. She placed her hand on your thigh. You grabbed her by her wrist and took her hand off of you. You hated the way your body warmed up a simple touch. She lost the privilege to touch you like that, to see you at your most vulnerable.
“Tell me what you need.”
“My sister hasn’t checked in for 12 hours, and I don’t have the right resources to find her myself.” She explained. You frowned. Once upon a time, she told you about a sister she had in Ohio.
“Is this about what I saw on the news?” You asked. You saw a report that Natasha evaded capture from Ross. The field she escaped from looked like a battlefield. She smirked.
“Are you keeping tabs on me?”
“No,” you deadpanned. “It’s part of my job to keep tabs on the news.” You sighed. “Where was the last time you heard from her?”
“She checked in at her safe house in Belize.” Good. You had a home there. Your parents would visit the country several times yearly to conduct business. It made sense for them to buy a house. You hadn’t been there since their death.
“We should head over there now,” you said, standing up. “The longer we wait, the harder it will be to find her.”
“Thank you. I appreciate it.” You didn’t respond, so you walked out of the apartment. You knew she was following her without looking behind her.
✦ .  ⁺   . ✦ .  ⁺   . ✦
You were leaning against the table, looking over the information on the Widow Yelena was tracking. The jet was on autopilot, so worrying about that was unnecessary. The quietness was interrupted by her footsteps walking over to you. She stood shoulder to shoulder next to you, and her arm barely touched you. “This brings me back to when I’d find you hunched over your work table.” She placed her hand on your lower back. You shrugged it off. You walked over to the cockpit and sat down in the pilot seat. Once the jet was out of autopilot, you took control. You need to get your mind on something instead of the Russian.
2011
You were invited to a Stark party. Parties weren’t your scene, but as a part of New York Cities elites, there would be talk if you were absent. The one thing you hated more than parties was gossip. So you stood at the bar sipping on a jack and coke. “Starfire!” You suppressed a sigh at the nickname from the billionaire. Tony Stark walked over to you with a redhead by his side.
“Stark,” you said, offering your hand to the man, but you were pulled into a hug. You patted his back. “How much have you had to drink?” You asked.
“Not nearly enough,” he ended the hug. “This one is keeping me in line.” He waved down the bartender. “This is my new assistant, Natalie Rushman.” Tony’s attention was on the bartender. She was stunning. Her red hair was curled at the end, and she wore a black cocktail dress.
“Y/n Ortega,” you introduced yourself. “Owner of Titanis Production.”
“Oh, I know who you are,” she said. It’s my job to know all of Mr. Stark’s associates.” She held out her hand for you to shake, but you took it and kissed it instead.
“Well, I hope Stark doesn’t tell you all my secrets.” She smiled.
“Don’t worry, kid,” Tony said, sipping his drink. “Your secrets are safe with me. Now excuse me, I have to make my rounds.”
“I’ll see you around Stark,” the billionaire walked away, but Natalia lingered next to you.
“I hope to see you again,” she smirked. You took a sip of your drink.
“I have a feeling you’ll know where to find me,” you had a strange feeling about her. She smiled and followed Tony. You watched for a beat before placing your glasses on. “AUROA, who is that?” You asked your AI system.
It took a moment for AUROA to find anything. Natalie Rushman modeled in 2004 and worked in Japan, Italy, and the United States in the early 2000s . She received her BA and MA in history from the University of Southern Carolina. The cherry on top was that she interned at Hammer Industries while studying at Harvard University. Everything felt perfect.
“AUROA, keep digging,” you sipped on your drink.
“I would have to hack into SHIELD,” the AI said. SHIELD? Why was the American governmental counter-terrorism agency interested in Stark? Besides the whole Iron Man thing.
“Do it,” you gave the order. As you waited and sipped on your drink, your eyes followed Tony and Natalia around the party.
“It appears that Natalia Rushman goes by many names,” you looked away from the duo as AUROA continued to explain. “Currently, she is going by Natasha Romanoff, and she is a Black Widow.”
“How dangerous?” You asked. It took a moment for the AI to respond.
“According to SHIELD, she is the most decorated assassin of the modern era. “You couldn’t help but look towards Natalia, and the SHIELD agent was already looking at you.
✦ .  ⁺   . ✦ .  ⁺   . ✦
Even at your status, you found parties boring. Sighing, you walked out to the balcony and felt a pressure release from your chest. Being underneath the stars always seemed to calm you down. You felt less trapped under the vast and never-ending sky. “Tired of the party already?” Natalie -no- Natasha said, walking over to you.
“Shouldn’t you be babysitting Tony?” You countered. The woman chuckled.
“It’s Pepper’s turn,” you hummed. That woman had more patience than God himself. “So, Y/n,” you liked the way your name fell from her lips, but you kept your face expressionless. “What secrets is Tony keeping for you?” She asked.
“I bet you know all of them,” you said, stepping forward and closing the space between you two. “Natasha,” you whispered her name as if it were a secret for you, her, and the stars above. She had an incredible poker face, but you weren’t surprised.
“I’m impressed, but for the Polaris, I expect no less.” You went by Polaris when you weren’t the CEO of your family’s company and tried to keep the city you lived in safe. You took a sip of your drink.
“What do you want with Stark?” You asked.
“I’m afraid I can’t disclose that,” she smiled. “I do hope you enjoy your night,” she said. She walked back into the party, but you grabbed her arm and pulled her back to you. Her chest was flushed to yours, and you could feel her heart beating.
“Tony Stark is family,” you told her. “So if he’s in trouble. I’d like to know.”
“Why don’t you find out yourself? Use that big brain of yours.” You smiled, releasing your hold on her arm, but she stayed close. Her green eyes stared up at you.
“I’d like to hear it from you. Over a drink, maybe, not at this party,” A soft smile spread across Natasha’s face.
“Yeah?” She questioned. You gave her a short nod. “Let’s get out of here then.”
✦ .  ⁺   . ✦ .  ⁺   . ✦
Natasha picked the lock of Yelena’s safe room. She opened the door and stepped to the side so you could walk in. It was a simple studio apartment with a basic kitchen and a bed. The place was well kept, except for the bottle of vodka left on the counter. You walked over to the small closet and opened it. Her clothes were hung up, and a duffle bag rested on the top shelf. Inside the bag were some extra magazines and a file she was tracking down on the Widow. “Look at this,” Natasha said, walking over to you. “She thought she was being followed.” You took the pad of paper from her. Yelena was keeping track of the Widow’s movement.
“Why didn’t she tell you or Melina about this?” You asked. She did not describe who she thought was following her; she only thought they were men.
“She probably thought she could handle it. She’s stubborn.” You hummed, nodding your head.
“Sounds like another Black Widow, I know,” you said. You handed her the notepad back and walked over to the window. You moved the blinds and saw a small fruit shop. “There’s nothing here that will help us,” you told the Russian. “But I have an idea.”
Putting on a smile, you walked through the fruit containers toward a woman behind a counter. “Hola,” the woman greeted you. “How can I help you?” Her English was laced with a heavy accent, but it was oddly confronting. It reminded you of babysitters and cleaners that your parents hired.
“Hello, ma’am, I was wondering if you could help us,” she looked hesitant between you and Natasha. “My wife and I were supposed to meet her sister, but she hasn’t shown up. Have you seen her? She’s blonde, shorter than me, and has a Russian accent.”
“Are you the police?” She asked. You shook your head.
“No, ma’am. My name is Y/n Ortega. " The relief that washed across the woman’s face wasn’t lost on you when she recognized your last name. There was a part of you that hated using your last name and the influence you knew you had, but desperate times call for desperate measures. The shopkeeper grabbed your hand and kissed your family ring. You glanced at Natasha, who just shrugged.
“Oh, Sra. Ortega, we were so sad to hear of your parent’s passing. We prayed for your family every night.” She dropped your hand.
“Thank you,” you told her. “I appreciate it.” And it was the truth, but the mention of your parent’s death always struck a deep emotion within you. They were killed right in front of you. You felt Natasha loop her arm through yours, and you fought your body’s natural reaction to lean against her.
“So, have you seen my sister?” she asked, her voice having a slight Russian accent. She was a great actress. The woman looked around to ensure no one else was around.
“The last time I saw your sister was two days ago. I told her that some men were following her and asking about her.” She whispered, afraid someone would hear her.
“These men? Do you know who they are?” She looked terrified. “Señora, I can protect you, but if you know anything to help us, please tell us.”
“We call them Ascendencia, the real people that run this town,” it was the group that the Widow Yelena was trying to help work for.
“Thank you. You have been a big help,” Natasha said. You pulled out your wallet and handed her money, but she closed your hand around the cash.
“Keep it,” she said. “Your presence is priceless. The estrella de belén (Bethlehem star) is back.”
✦ .  ⁺   . ✦ .  ⁺   . ✦
Even though your company thought you were on vacation, you had some work to do. You planned to hit the Ascendancy at night. The night was when your powers were best utilized. While Natasha was showering, you were working on your laptop. Well, you were trying, but what the shop owner said was racing through your mind. The Star of Bethlehem was a phenomenon that scholars could never prove existed. Perhaps it was a supernova, a comet, a solar flare, or even an alignment of planets. Or it may never have existed after all. The truth was science may never know. From a religious standpoint, the star in the Bible and Christian tradition was said to have led the Magi to the birthplace of Jesus Christ. By this woman calling you the Star of Bethlehem, she saw you as the next savior. Why were you the savior? “You know,” Natasha said. You looked up from your laptop and stared at the Russian, only wearing a bathrobe. “I liked it when you called me your wife.” She walked over to the bar and poured a glass of wine. She took a sip and walked over to you. Your eyes never left her as she took the laptop from your hand.
“What are you doing?” You asked and grabbed her wrist.
“Getting you to relax,” she put the glass of wine in your hand. “You’ve been on edge since we left that woman’s fruit stand.” She chose to sit right next to you. Her legs were touching yours. “Are you okay? I know your parents are a touchy subject.” You rolled your eyes and stood up, pushing the glass of wine in her hands.
“Like you care about me,” you said. You picked up your laptop and headed to your room.
“I never stopped caring about you,” you stopped. “Or loving you, for that matter.” Slowly, you turned around to face her.
“Then why did you disappear?” You asked her. “Why did you throw a five-year relationship down the drain?”
“For you. To keep you safe,” you stared at her, disbelief evident on your face. I signed the Accords,” you knew this. You followed it very closely. “Tony signed the Accords. If Ross found out who you are, he would have thrown you in the RAFT.” She ran to protect you. You shook your head.
“I would have signed the Accords,” you honestly said.
“No, the Polaris is too much of who you are. I wasn’t going to let them take that away from you.”
“Stop,” you hissed. “Stop making decisions that affect me without talking to me.” You let out a shaky breath. “I would have left it all behind for you because I loved you,” her face fell as you said ‘loved.’ “But you made a decision that wasn’t yours to make.” She stood up, leaving the wine glass on the table, and closed the distance between you and her.
“What can I do to fix this?” You looked at Natasha and stared into her green eyes. So many nights, you’ve gotten lost in the green of her eyes. There was a part of you, deep within you, that wanted to embrace her, look past everything, and open your heart back up to her. But the rational part of your mind overpowered the hopeless romantic. You remembered the countless nights you stayed up late over a bottle of whiskey, the times you were the Polaris and thought fuck it and let whoever you were fighting to kill you. Anything would have been better than the pain of her leaving.
“I don’t know, Natasha,” you sighed. “Let’s focus on saving Yelena.”
✦ .  ⁺   . ✦ .  ⁺   . ✦
“How many do you see?” You asked her. You were on the rooftop a few buildings from the prison where Yelena was being held. It was in an abandoned town, so it was a perfect spot for a group that wanted to remain under the radar. Unfortunately, many villages were abandoned due to drug cartels or natural disasters. Natasha put down the binoculars.
“Multiple guards with assault rifles. There are snipers on the towers,” she sighed. “Whatever is going on in there, they want to protect it. Any ideas on how to get it?” You smiled and rubbed your hands together.
“A few exactly,” you felt her gaze on you. “Stop looking at me like that.” The Black Widow shrugged.
“You look good in your suit,” you could say the same thing about her. She added new additions since the last time you saw her. A vest was on the top, and the Black Widow symbol on her belt was gone. Your suit was the same. Your face was covered to hide your identity, and your suit was black but with white specs that mapped out constellations. One constellation, Orion, was across your chest. The other was Scorpius down your back. The final constellation was Scutum, which was up and down your arms. They all meant protection.
Glancing up at the sky, it was clear. Not a single cloud in the sky. It was the perfect night to use your powers. “Oh great, Cassiopeia, lend me your powers,” you placed your hands on the roof’s ledge. “Show me the way to what I seek.” Your hands glowed orange, and a trail raced toward the prison. Each guard it passed, it outlined them. The light provided a path to follow, stopping at a cell. The orange glow highlighted a girl.
“That must be Yelena,” Natasha pointed to where the glow stopped. “We have to get to her,” you grabbed her arm to prevent her from getting up. “What are you doing?”
“Just trust me,” you said to her. “You may be good, but there is no way you can sneak past all those guards and get Yelena out.” Besides, Cassiopeia showed you Yelena’s location, not her condition. Keeping your hand on her arm, you let out a shaky breath. “Great Gamma Draconis,” you said. “Lend me your power and bestow us your gift.” She looked at you, confused because nothing happened, unlike when she saw your powers up close. “We are invisible to everyone else, and if we stop touching each other, then we become invisible to each other.” You went to remove your hand to show her, but she grabbed it and interlocked her fingers with yours.
You couldn’t help but look at your connected hands. It felt so good to feel her skin against yours. Her hands were smooth besides the callous on her fingers from shooting. After all this time, her touch could still ground you, and you weren’t lost in the astral plane. “Come on,” you said. “Let’s go save your sister.” The sooner this mission was over, than you would never have to see her again.
✦ .  ⁺   . ✦ .  ⁺   . ✦
Your powers made it easy to sneak towards the prison and break inside. The only problem was that you struggled to focus on how close Natasha was to you. Suddenly, she stopped and pushed you against the wall. She put her finger to her lips and pointed. You followed to where she was pointing and saw two men. They were speaking in Spanish, and you quickly translated the conversation in your head.
‘That blonde bitch is getting on my nerves,’ one said.
‘The boss wants her alive,’ the other added. ‘We just have to be patient, and then we will be rewarded.’ They walked away. It was a good thing they needed her alive, but the question was why. You leaned closer to Natasha’s ear.
“We need to hurry,” you whispered, ignoring the way her body shivered and she leaned towards you. You pushed her away slightly and continued to follow the path. A plan was swirling in your head: get Yelena out, care for her wounds, and stop this group.
To your surprise, there was no guard at the cell. Natasha picked the lock and dragged you inside, but the room was empty, and the door slammed shut behind you. Natasha dropped your hand, and she was visible. “Where is she?” She asked. You ran to the door and placed your hand on the handle. It was luck.
“Aquila,” you said. “Eagle that carried Zeus’ thunderbolt free us.” Nothing happened. Instead, vents opened on the ceiling, and gas began to fill the room. Natasha fell to her knees, coughing as the mysterious gas filled her lungs. You ran over to the Black Widow. Your suit glowed as the stars protected you from the gas.
“Nat,” she slumped against you as her eyes closed. Her breathing was labored, but she had a pulse. The door opened behind you. You turned to face whoever entered, but a bat to the side of your head brought you down. Your arms wrapped around Natasha, one last desperate act to protect her.
✦ .  ⁺   . ✦ .  ⁺   . ✦
You woke up to the metallic taste in your mouth. It took a minute for your eyes to adjust to the low light, but you saw Natasha chained up next to her sister. They were awake, but it was hard to assess her injuries. You moved your arms and saw that you were chained to the ground in a kneeling position. The rattle of your chains got Natasha’s attention. “You’re up,” her voice sounded distorted. It was like someone stuffed your ears with cotton. You shook your head to rid the feeling, but it made it worse. “Hey,” you looked at the Russian. “Focus on my voice. You have a gash on the side of your head.” That explained the blood. “Can you heal it?” That was simple. You could heal it. You let out a shaky breath.
“Great Rod of Asclepius, I call upon your power to heal me and those around me.” But the typical warmth didn’t come. Instead, your body burned. You hissed in pain as a blue glow burned bright in the room. Above the door were symbols on the wall that you weren’t sure what they were. They were everywhere.
“They were here when they put me in here,” Yelena said. Why? They knew you were coming if they graved these symbols to suppress your abilities. “I’m guessing you are the one my sister wouldn’t shut up about.”
“Yelena!” Natasha hissed.
“I’m Y/n. It’s nice to meet you finally, Yelena. I’ve heard a lot about you.” The shock on her face was evident. On any other day, you would question the look of shock on her face, but you needed to figure out how to get out of here. You tugged at the metal chains, but they wouldn’t move. There was a way out, but it was dangerous for you and those around you.
The doors opened, and a man and woman entered. Two guards were stationed by the door. The woman walked over to Natasha and Yelena, grabbing them by their chins. “Don’t touch them,” you warned.
“I don’t think you are in any position to make demands, Polaris,” the man said and approached you. His fingers graze the cut on your head. Your blood covered his fingers. “Why aren’t you healing? Are you having some trouble?” He smirked. You wanted to wipe it off his stupid face.
“What do you want?” Natasha asked. The man ignored Natasha and continued to stare at you. You tried to hold his stare, but it sent a shiver down your spine. Finally, you looked away.
“You look like your mother,” he knelt before you. “It’s a pity she was taking from you so young. She was special.”
“What do you want?” you finally asked. It seemed impossible, but his smile got bigger and wider.
“We did all of this for you,” he stood up. “Aren’t you enjoying it?” His counterpart took his spot in front of you. Her fingernails dug into your cheek.
“Smile, darling,” she said. Frowning causes wrinkles, and we want your face to be nice and beautiful. " She kissed your cheek. We won’t hurt you unless you start being difficult.” You saw Natasha’s eyes turn stormy. Your ex was always possessive. It looked like some things stayed the same.
“How about we cut the shit and steamroll this process?” Natasha deadpanned. “You give us your villain speech, we escape and stop you, and I can stop by the beach and enjoy a margarita before my flight home,” you almost laughed at the stunned look on the couple’s face. Natasha always had a flare for the dramatics, but the man snapped his fingers. It happened instantly, the pain that radiated through your body was unlike anything you’ve experienced. You groaned but tried to keep your noises at bay. You refused to give them that satisfaction, but you saw the concern and worry in Natasha’s eyes. Her face remained stoic. The man snapped again, and the pain stopped.
“She’s perfect!” the woman cheered and kissed the man’s cheek.
“I told you she would be, sweetheart,” he grabbed her chin and brought their lips together.
“Gross,” you heard Yelena mumble. After a few deep breaths, your body wasn’t on fire anymore.
“I don’t understand,” you said. “Who are you people?”
“It’s no surprise your parents never told you about us. My name is Victor Reyes,” he grabbed the woman’s hand. “And this is my beautiful wife, Anna.” Even though pain fogged up your mind, you knew it was terrible that they gave you their full name. It was a sign that you weren’t getting out of here alive. “Your parents ruined us, and now you will help us rebuild.”
“What did they do?” You questioned. “They were business people, not fighters,” your parents wouldn’t fight a terrorist group unless they were disrupting the business. Anna laughed.
“Poor baby, mommy and daddy lied to you,” she said. “Do you think it was a coincidence you got those powers the night your parents were killed? You weren’t the first vigilante in the family.” You frowned. They couldn’t have had these powers. Every night, you were left alone with O'Conner, your family butler; they covered that they were stuck at work.
“What do you want from her?” Yelena asked. Victor turned to face the blonde.
“Her life force,” he said. It was said so causally that you almost missed it. “Her gift can power weapons, buildings, and people. Our leader tried to jump-start this project, but her parents killed him.”
Killed someone? Your parents weren’t killers. They were involved in the family business, and you or they had no time to dirty their hands. Natasha saw the sea of emotions pass through you. “So that is your plan?” Natasha questioned. “Use her powers to take over the world,” she rolled her eyes. “We’ve seen this before. It’s not an original idea.” Victor knelt in front of Natasha.
“You don’t understand the magnitude of your lover’s powers, do you?” Your stomach turned. Victor twisted her blonde locks around his fingers. “The stars are so important to our world.”
“Stars are the primary source of elements that make up the universe: carbon, nitrogen, oxygen,” Anna moved next to you and placed her hand on your head. Her nails dug into your scalp. “Astronomers believe stars to be the cosmic engines that create galaxies.”
“Exactly, my love,” Victor smiled over his shoulder. “You see now, Mrs. Romanoff, we won’t just take over this world but every galaxy that the stars touch,” he stood up. “We have people stationed all over, ready for our word. We will rebuild this galaxy into something beautiful. " Their voices became white noise as they continued to taunt Yelena and Natasha. Finally, they left you three alone.
“Well, this is great,” Yelena mumbled, slumping back against the wall. If they were to harness your powers, they could bring down galaxies, create new ones, and be the ultimate ruler. This was bad.
“Hey,” you looked at Natasha. “What’s going through your head?”
“I need to get you two out of here,” you said. There was a small window, and you could see the stars and feel the power that they gave you.
“How do you plan to do that?” The younger Black Widow questioned. “Those symbols stop your powers.” You nodded, licking your lips. You could do this.
“Oh, great, Asclepius and Aquila, I call on you to allow me to use your gifts, release them from their bonds, and heal their wounds.” You bite down on your lip to stop the whimper of pain that threatened to escape. Black dots covered your vision, and everything was burning. You swore your blood was on fire.
The only thing keeping you upright were the chains attached to the ground—until your forehead came in contact with the fabric of Natasha’s suit. You heard the sisters talking, but their words were muffled like you were in an episode of Charlie Brown when the adults were talking. “Hey,” the older Black Widow turned her attention to you. “You have to leave me.”
“Are you out of your fucking mind?” Maybe, but you were a liability. You were in no shape to transverse this compound to leave. You pulled away from Natasha and spit blood onto the floor. “They want you. We need to get you out of here.”
“You need to get out of here and warn the team. If” a violent cough ripped through your body and you tasted more blood in your mouth. Shit. That was not good. You ignored the worried look the sisters shared. “If they are as big as they are claiming, you need the Avengers to stop them. I,” your vision began to blur. “I can stop them here.” What if Victor and Anna weren’t the real leaders behind this? Even if they couldn’t harness your ability, they were still a threat to the balance of this world.
“Sweetheart,” Natasha whispered. You managed a smile at the pet name and focused on her eyes. You loved them so much. You noticed her face would be emotionless with the years together, but her eyes gave so much away.
“Moya zvezda (my star),” Natasha tried to teach you Russian, but you only learned a few words. Star was one of them. “My North Star, it’s going to be okay.” You weren’t sure if you could keep that promise. “You’ll get the team back together and save the world like always.”
“Please, there has to be another way,” you glanced at Yelena. A silent plea to get her sister out of here. She nodded.
“I never stopped loving you, Natasha,” you admitted. “No matter how much you leaving hurt.”
“Sestra,” Yelena nudged Natasha’s shoulder. “We should go. We do not know when they will be back.” You smiled and nodded your head. Natasha sighed and hugged you tight. Her lips grazed your forehead, and you leaned into her touch.
“If this is the last time we see each other. I’m going to be fucking pissed.” You couldn’t help but chuckle and watch Yelena drag Natasha to the door. She looked over her shoulder one last time and left.
You hung your head and let out a shaky breath. Each breath sent a sharp pain through your sides. Until today, you never understood why you were gifted these powers, but you knew you wanted to protect people. They were gifted to you on the night your parents were killed. When O'Conner took you home from the hospital, you fell into a deep sleep and had a very high fever. He had to bring you right back to the hospital.
Everyone chalked it up to stress. You witnessed a traumatic event, and that was how your body reacted to it. Only you, O'Conner and the Starks knew the truth of what you became. You could call on the power of the stars and harness their powers. It took a lot of trial and error to figure out which star provided what power.
But you made a promise to those around you that you would never call on the power of the sun. The power was too unpredictable, and the damage to your body was unclear. It was a promise you had to break. You spit out the blood that was pooling in your mouth. “Please,” you whispered. “Please. After everything I’ve given and suffered with this gift, help me.” Another cough ripped through you as the symbols glowed a light blue.
“Helios,” you kept your voice strong and steady. “I call upon you to bestow me with your powers.” Your body began to burn as the symbols tried to stop your powers. “Helios, please use me to embody your powers and stop those threatening peace.”
The symbols grew brighter, but the burning stopped, and soon, you were filled with warmth. It was like a warm embrace from an old friend or a hug from your mother. Your wounds healed, and the chains that imprisoned you fell to the ground. With newfound strength, you stood up, walked to the middle of the room, and knelt down. The palm of your hand was pressed against the concert floor.
“Helios,” you saw your body glow yellow like the sun. “Destroy.” The glow traveled across the room. As the glow moved throughout the compound, you saw everything Helios encountered. The members of Ascendencia were in a panic; some ran for the exit. “Capture,” Helios grabbed those that ran and cemented them to the ground. You saw Victor order those around him to stop you, but it was too late. The most important thing was that Helios did not see Natasha and Yelena; they must have made it out.
“Boom,” you mumbled. You felt the explosion first. The heat and power of Helios sent you flying into the wall. With you still connected to the sun, you heard and felt all the lives that were taken. The pain was unbearable, and you fell into the darkness, welcomed by a call from your mother.
✦ .  ⁺   . ✦ .  ⁺   . ✦
There was a pressure on your chest when you came too. You opened your eyes and blinked a few times from the harsh light. On your chest was blonde hair cut into a bob, and she was resting on your chest. “Natasha,” you mumbled. She sat up quickly, eyes wide when she heard your voice. There were bags under her eyes, and her cheeks were blotchy. Carefully, you cupped her cheek and moved her thumb across her skin. “Am I dead?” Your ex laughed, shaking your head. You watched tears form in her eyes.
“No,” she whispered. “You almost were. It was touch and go for so long I wasn’t sure if you would make it,” you pushed a few tears that fell away. “Tony is pissed.” You chuckled.
“At me or you?”
“Both,” it was her turn to smile, but it was shaky. You moved your hand to her neck and pulled her closer to you. She protested, mumbling about not wanting to hurt you. You hushed her and moved over so she could lie down next to you. Her face was buried in the space between your neck and shoulder. Her breath fawned against your neck. Natasha’s voice was soft as she explained everything.
According to Natasha, she and Yelena got out just in time before the building exploded. Yelena couldn’t stop her sister from returning to find you. While Natasha searched for you, Yelena called the woman from the fruit stand - Gloria. When the older Black Widow found you, a white glow surrounded you. You were alive but barely.
They were able to move you to Gloria’s home, where you stayed until you were stable enough to move back to the Avengers’ compound in Upstate New York. That was three weeks ago. While you were healing, Natasha brought the Avengers together and started the process of taking down the Ascendencia. It was slow work, but it was going well.
You knew she could do it. There was something about Natasha that drew people in. “Everyone knows,” she said and sat up so she could see your face. “Tony tried to stop it, but everyone knows you are the Polaris.” Somehow, you knew this day would come, and you were okay with the world knowing. It was a surprise your secret lasted this long.
“Okay,” you said. “That’s fine. I’ll have to do a press conference,” she gave you a pointed look. “It’s the truth. I’m okay with everyone knowing.” She nodded and hesitated to lay back down, but when you didn’t stop her. You ran your fingers through her blonde hair and watched the Black Widow melt against you. “I like the blonde,” you said. “But I do miss the red.” Natasha rested her chin on your chest and looked up at you.
“Tell me, you meant what you said before we left that room,” she said. “Do you love me?” You sighed.
“I tried to stop,” you said. “Drowned my feelings with booze, being the Polaris, and women that I didn’t care about,” her hand went to the side of your neck, a protective grip on it. “Nothing worked. Ever since that party, you’ve trapped me inside your web.” The Black Widow rolled her eyes at your spider pun.
“I’m sorry,” you knew it was hard for her to apologize. “You were right. I made a decision that wasn’t mine to make.”
“Tasha, I wasn’t living until I met you,” you whispered. “You gave me a reason to live.” It seemed natural as you both gravitated towards each other until your lips touched. Sighing into the kiss, you twisted your hand in her hair. No matter how many years together, kissing Natasha made your stomach flip. It was your favorite thing.
“Oh my fucking eyes,” you and Natasha jumped apart at the sound of Yelena’s voice. “I’m glad you are awake, but I did not need to see your tongue down my sister’s throat.”
“Suka,” Natasha mumbled and climbed out of the bed to sit back in the chair. You chuckled and took her hand in yours, not wanting to be away from her completely. When your parents were killed, you thought your life was over. Then you became the Polaris, and there was a reason for you to get out of bed each day. But being a vigilante lost its meaning. All of your hope was lost until you met Natasha. She was your missing peace, your true north, your reason to exist in this vast galaxy.

Damage Done
prompt: The Winter Soldier is activated and Bucky's lover is unlucky enough to be in proximity.
pairing: Bucky Barnes x female!Widow!reader
fandom masterlist: Marvel
word count: 5.4k+
note: oh, wow, Cherry wrote Bucky NOT in a Mafia AU?
warnings: takes place during Civil War, absolutely no plot - author just doesn't know how to shut the fuck up. cursing, violence, established relationship, small angst, injury, blood, hurt and comfort, Winter Soldier antics, choking, abrupt ending, maybe domestic violence? it's the WS.
it's really not that bad, it's not terribly descriptive but still tread carefully if triggered by these topics.

"Keep them together," Agent Everett Ross commanded, a little man with a raging Napoleon Complex, gesturing at you and Bucky; the latter held in mobile, restrictive captivity. "He doesn't play nice if he doesn't see her, or so it's said," his eyes rolled.
"You're making a huge mistake!" You barked, struggling in the restraints they had you wrapped in.
"No, I don't think so," he sneered, approaching you as Bucky's unit kept moving. "I think the mistake was letting you out of anyone's sight. Tell me, how long have you been in cahoots with the Winter Soldier?"
"He's not the Winter Soldier anymore, you jackass, he's a person! A real, live human being! His name's James but he prefers Bucky! He likes plums," you were yanked away, still snarling, "his favorite color is blue, likes motorcycles, he has real guilt over his past transgressions, and you've got the wrong guy!"
"Oh, right, like you're the best judge of character," Ross laughed.
"Natasha! Nat! Fucking tell him!" You pleaded, struggling in the hold of the men who kept iron clad restraint on you and were starting to drag you away. "You've got the wrong guy! Bucky didn't do this! I wouldn't lie - not to you, Natasha! Tell him!"
"That's touching, really sweet," Ross mocked, rolling his eyes as you were finally overpowered and lead away.
"Hang on a second," Nat muttered, sharing a look with Tony. "Was her DNA or facial recognition anywhere at the UN? Anywhere near where the bomb was set off?"
"What's that matter - "
"Since they met, they've not parted ways," Nat spelled out. "He won't go anywhere without her - you, yourself, are keeping them together for interrogation - "
"It's just easier," Ross scoffed.
"No, you know..." She blinked in confusion, "You know, Bucky won't talk unless she's there - you know he'll be ten times as difficult if she's not in the room."
"So?"
"So, in the past two years, have you heard about him without her? Have you seen her without him?"
"Nobody's seen or heard from either of them," Ross shook his head.
"Exactly," she nodded, lungs tightening with nerves. "If you can't find evidence of her being in Vienna... Bucky might not be your guy... Besides, they're both trained to avoid cameras - "
"Mistakes are made," Ross waved off.
"Not by two highly trained assassins like them," she snapped. "Check the files, go back - look! Actually look, run her scans through facial recognition - if you don't find her, it wasn't Bucky."
"You're so sure?" Tony asked skeptically.
"I know her," Natasha nodded, "better than anyone. She's as good as my sister, she's as good as blood. I know her. I know she wouldn't run this risk - "
"Then you also know she wouldn't get caught," Ross laughed.
"Neither would Bucky."
The silence stretched, but Ross was stubborn; sneering at the Avengers and taking his leave with his own plan of action in mind. He left Tony and Natasha to deal with Sam and Steve as he went to observe the interrogation. When he got before the monitors, he watched as it took four different men to restrain you enough to hoist your locks up the wall until they were clicked in place by ultra-strength magnets.
You jostled, feeling the full extent of your containment, grunting when the pipe you were connected to shocked your entire system into submission. Everett Ross smirked at your pain; watching your tongue swipe over your teeth, arms high above your head, readjusting your weight in your feet, but otherwise, not moving.
Ross heard Bucky ask quietly, his eyes watching you carefully from inside the reinforced cell, "You okay, doll?"
"Looks like they learned from last time," you grit, the cuffs around your wrists electrified; charring your skin, making you grimace slightly in a veiled attempt to hide your pain from your lover.
"Don't fight, you'll make it worse," he advised softly, frowning, eyes glassy from restrained emotion.
"They could've at least put me in a bit more comfortable position," you sneered, glaring up at one of the cameras, shaking your head as if in disappointment.
"I don't think they want to play nice, sweetheart."
"Yeah, could've guessed that from when they arrested us," you shook your head, puckering your lips to gather the blood in your mouth; spitting it to the floor. "You good, baby?" You asked as the men who restrained you moved to plug in the power cell caging Bucky.
He nodded silently at you, bowing his head and letting his long locks curtain his face. You frowned, shifting again as you blindly felt your cuffs and designed a way to get free; watching the men stoically as they exited the room to make way for the psychologist. Your jaw clenched, the air smelling foul - alerting you that something wasn't quite right.
"Hello, Mr. Barnes," the accented man greeted casually, standing at a single table in front of Bucky, you off to the side; chains rattling as your defenses flared. The psychologist smirked and greeted you, too, assuring your real identity was known - something that Natasha released to the world about two years ago when HYDRA sent Bucky after Cap in DC. You didn't fault her, in fact, you respected her move, and after getting out of the blown-to-shit base, you had run into the Winter Soldier... Beginning your epic love story, both of you on the run from authorities and higher powers.
You smuggled Bucky out of the country, using fake aliases that had yet to see the light of day and therefor, wasn't released in the files Nat published during her takedown of the compromised S.H.I.E.L.D. agency. He was appreciative, pondering how he was meant to go forward in a world he didn't know; so, you agreed to stick around for a bit to help settle him, and that bit turned into a couple of years - the two of you inseparable.
There was an incident in London that almost exposed you, but instead, it just shined a light on your new partnership. Captain American, Nat, Sam, shit - even Tony Stark himself was unable to catch up; your trail going cold, Nat knowing your Widow training was running the show and keeping you safe. Granted, she probably could've unraveled the web you had weaved - but the truth was, she didn't want to. So, she kept quiet. Leading you all here...
"I've been sent by the United Nations to evaluate you both," the man you'd come to know as Helmut Zemo continued; playing his part very well, but not well enough to convince you of his innocence. Something about the man rubbed you the wrong way. "Do you mind if I sit?" He asked politely, feigning like you two had a choice. When he did, Zemo continued, "Your first name is James?"
He noted the way Bucky and you shared a look, both remaining silent. Zemo tried to assure, "I'm not here to judge you - either of you. I just want to ask you a few questions. Do you know where you are, James?" Continued silence, your head subtly shaking - an act only Bucky clocked. "I can't help you if you don't talk to me, James."
"My name is Bucky," he croaked, your sigh echoing around the room.
"Hm," Zemo nodded, "I take it, she doesn't want you to talk?"
"She wants me safe," Bucky answered stiffly.
"That is admirable," the psychologist offered kindly, "a great display of love, is it not?"
"Jesus Christ," you shook your head, offering a glare, "you went through all that schooling to ask stupid fucking questions? Might wanna get your money back."
Zemo chuckled after humming, "I am merely trying to establish the connection you two share. I hear it is rare to find one without the other, that you two have become, uh, joined at the hip?"
"I protect her," Bucky offered, sharing a long look with you, "and she protects me."
"An equal partnership, would you say?"
"Yes."
"Buck," you warned, wrists twisting to hold the cuffs; being zapped, making your jaw clench and the veins in your neck to bulge.
"It's all right," his voice sounded like it was being put through a grater. "We're caught, doll, it's all right."
You huffed, eyeing Zemo as his eyes flickered between you two. He nodded, making a note in his little book, "I was warned that you would be unwilling to cooperate without her present. Why is that?"
"She keeps me safe."
Zemo hummed, "So you've said, and yet... Here you both are..." You were ready to lash out, but the doctor changed course, "Tell me, Bucky. You've seen a great deal, haven't you?"
"I don't wanna talk about it." Your restraints zapped you again when you jolted forward as if to physically silence Zemo, Bucky's head snapping over and his eyes drooping in sympathy. "Told you not to move, it'll only get worse," he told you softly.
"He's asking questions that will get him killed," you snarled, gritting your teeth as the electric currents seized most of your energy. But it was worth it, finding a little weak spot and letting your mind devise a specific plan.
"You fear," Zemo continued, "that if you open your mouth, the horrors might never stop. I feel it is safe to assume, uh, your lady is privy to your past experiences? Perhaps, you two have shared a couple?"
"Just leave her out of this," Bucky pleaded.
"Don't worry," he assured you both, tapping something on his tablet before looking back at Bucky with a sick recognition. "We only have to talk about one. One mission... That I know you," he nodded at you, "were not present for."
"Kinda game you playin', Doc?" You sneered. "Think anything he says will change my opinion about him?"
"No, no, I know your relationship is too strong for that," Zemo smiled. "So, it's not so much what he will say... But what he will do..."
"The fuck does that - "
But then, the lights went out; darkening the room save for the lights individual to Bucky's holding cell. You perked up, the electric currents halting as the cuffs died with the power and gave you an opportunity to begin working on your escape. As red panic lights flickered, Bucky questioned, "What the hell is this?"
"Why don't we discuss your home?" Zemo offered. "Not Romania. Certainly not Brooklyn, no," he reached into his satchel, revealing a red notebook the world thought long lost... Buried in snow... Forgotten in time. "I mean, your real home," Zemo removed his glasses as you frantically started working.
"No, no, no, no, no, hey, hey, hey, don't - fuck!" You grit, trying harder to free yourself. "Bucky - Bucky, don't listen - ah, Goddamnit!"
The man you now understood to be a fake psychologist stood with a little flashlight, opening the red notebook, and began repeating words in Russian that would activate the decommissioned Winter Soldier. Bucky had told you all about these words, begging you to provide a shield against them should they ever be uttered again; but you had prior knowledge, the Winter Soldier someone you had been debriefed on during your time with other secret agencies.
"Longing."
"No," Bucky whispered, head tilting back in panic as he felt his stomach curl in a familiar pattern.
"Bucky - don't fucking listen, please!" You begged, still working to free yourself.
"Rusted."
"Stop," Bucky pleaded, sounding in pain.
"Don't do this!" You pleaded to Zemo. "You're fucking hurting him, please, stop!"
"Seventeen."
"Stop!" Bucky barked, his vibranium hand clenching in anger and pain; the entire arm whirring from the flex of his muscle. He began to pant, a deep growl emitting above your panicked whimpers.
"Daybreak!"
"You have no idea what you're doing!" You raged, Bucky screaming in pain as his mind was forcibly sunk back into dark recesses of his past. "Don't - Bucky, baby, listen to me - don't fucking listen to him, please, please, baby, don't do this!"
He screamed, breaking free of the iron restraints that kept him seated in the reinforced, mobile cell. "Furnace!" Zemo continued, ignoring the pain and panic you and Bucky were both thrown into.
"Fucking stop, please! You don't understand!" You begged, freeing one hand and working in vain to unlatch the other. Bucky was out of his seat, anger coursing like a palpable rain over you all - him screaming as his metal arm worked to pound into the strengthened glass surrounding him.
"Nine!"
"Bucky, please, baby, please, don't do this!" You tried a new tactic, hoping you were enough to cut through the brainwashing - but how silly to imagine. Decades of trauma was washing over Bucky again and your little words couldn't cut through the barricades of his mind.
"Benign!"
"You stupid fucking little man!"
Zemo rounded around the cell, Bucky still pounding away at the glass. "Homecoming! One!"
"DON'T!"
"Freight car!"
You whimpered in fear when Bucky punched the entire door off the hinges, freeing him at last; but the words were spoken, the damage done. He crouched on the floor, Zemo pausing to take in the sight, slowly approaching Bucky as he stood upright; the jangling of your chains louder and more frantic as you tried to free your last wrist.
"Jesus Christ," you whispered, trying to divide focus between the two tasks of freeing yourself and protecting Bucky - but being terribly unsuccessful as you watched Zemo stand in front of your dead-eyed boyfriend.
What a ridiculous, mundane label to assign someone like Bucky.
In Russian, Zemo questioned, "Soldier?"
And in Russian, the man you loved answered, "Ready to comply."
Zemo demanded in English, "Mission report. December 16, 1991."
You whimpered in fear, listening to Bucky give the report that would haunt you for years to come. Just as he finished, you managed to get out of the cuffs, but the clanging of your freed restraints caught Zemo's attention - who smirked with abundant cruelty. "Don't," you warned, backing out of the room just as officers began to flood it.
It was a brutal fight, trying to stave off Bucky once in his Winter Soldier mindset. You grunted as he engaged you, men dead at your feet - the lucky ones just knocked out. You grit your teeth, trying to defend yourself as Bucky operated mechanically; doing what you could to protect yourself, but it wasn't enough.
Blows landed, punching and kicking one another in an equal match of strength and stamina.
"Seize her," Zemo demanded, and in the next moment, Bucky had you by the neck; an effort that made you wheeze and claw at his bionic hand.
"Bucky," you begged. "Baby - baby - it's me, it's me, please, don't, it's me! Don't do this, baby, please, come back to me. Come back!" You struggled in his grip, trying to pry his hand open, "Baby, please, please, come back to me," spit drooled from your lips as he squeezed tighter. "This isn't you!" You managed to squeeze out, tears surfacing. "Not anymore, don't let them win!"
"Shut her up, Solider," Zemo commanded in Russian, your eyes widening and trying to beg Bucky again before he was sending you into a wall. He marched up to you, grabbing your hair, and surging his balled up metal fist directly into the bridge of your nose, breaking it, head jolting backwards, and effectively knocking you out.
When you came back into consciousness, it was to Steve's worried face; his hands caressing your cheeks and begging, "You all right?"
"Fucking hell," you winced, reaching up to prod the tender spot on your head; revealing blood.
"Got your ass kicked, huh?" He frowned.
"Watch your language, Cap," you smirked, wincing when your face throbbed. "Shit, how bad is it?"
He looked you over, offering, "Definitely a broken nose."
"Goddamnit - where is he? Where's Bucky?"
"Help me," a voice pleaded from the next room, Zemo playing his part by splaying out on the floor like bait.
"Don't trust him, something ain't right about him, Steve," you whispered, waving him on as you sluggishly hoisted yourself up the wall to lean against it. "Kept asking about Siberia, asking about shit nobody should actually know."
"Get yourself safe," Steve told you swiftly, nodding at Sam; who was checking on the status of the other bodies around you.
"Just find him, Steve, he's lost in his own mind - a threat to himself," you panted, slowly standing.
"I know - "
"You don't know," you shook your head, wiping a trickle of blood from your temple, "but you're gonna have to do more than understand him right now, Steve."
"I've got this," he promised, watching you nod and limp away. You had just missed the action, Bucky overpowering both Sam and Steve; getting to a safety landing and running into Natasha, Tony, and Agent Sharon Carter.
"We'll hash our bullshit out later," you panted, "but for now - "
You heard a commotion behind you, flinching out of sight when Bucky made himself known and began taking down rogue agents unlucky enough to stand before the Winter Soldier.
"He have an off switch?" Nat asked.
"Not that I've found," you frowned. "Split up."
Tony tried to engage Bucky first, using a mobile Iron Man device he wore on his wrist that used sonics to disorient Bucky. It only worked to a small extent, the two exchanging a few blows, Bucky firing a bullet at Tony's face at pointblank range that was saved by his technologically advanced glasses. Bucky got the upper hand, sending Tony flying back, letting Sharon and Nat attack.
He disposed of them both easily, stumbling when you caught him off guard and wrapped your legs around him. Normally, you'd do anything to have your legs around him - but this wasn't one of those times. You exchanged several punches, blocking one another, going for disarming hits but being of equal challenge; leaving small cuts and blooming bruises on each other as if to prove the engagement. Natasha rejoined the fight, two Widows showing Bucky up on a few instances, but he was heaving her across the room as you swung onto his shoulders in an impressive acrobatic move.
You heaved your fists down in a repeated fashion on the top of his head, Bucky charging at one of the cafe tables; slamming you down and choking you again with his metal hand. Both your hands held his, legs up around his neck to try to keep him at a distance for relief on your windpipe.
Through a strangled breath, you managed, "You could at least recognize me!"
"Who said I don't?" He growled, reaching out to snap a piece of wood from a chair.
You tried to regain normal breath, wheezing, "This isn't you, baby, you are not this person anymore - you're not a psychotic, robot killer! You're a man - please!"
"You don't know a damn thing about me," he seethed.
"I know everything about you," you strangled, "and I know this isn't you. Come back to me, baby, please! Y-You can't let the demons win, Buck, please - fucking listen to me!" But he only raised the wooden shaft above his head. "BUCKY, DON'T!"
"Who the hell is Bucky?"
You cried out shrilly when he jabbed the sharp wood into your shoulder, staking you to the table just as King T'Challa rushed onto the scene and stole your brainwashed boyfriend's attention. You hissed in pain, trying to yank the wood free but being unsuccessful; resulting in blood to splatter onto the tiled floor.
Hearing someone pant your name, you caught a glimpse of red and knew it was Nat, her face worried over yours a moment later. "Where's Bucky?" You coughed and winced in pain.
"Goin' up by the looks of it," she informed, "now hang on, this is gonna hurt. Want a belt to bite?"
"No, just do it, get it done, please," you panted, bracing yourself, and suddenly, without warning, your companion heaved the piercing shaft free from your flesh. Naturally, you cried out, groaning and clenching your jaw so tight, it nearly crushed your teeth into dust.
"Hey, you seen..." Sam arrived on scene, taking in your injury, "Holy shit, you good?"
"Yeah," you grunted, stumbling to your feet as blood bloomed into a bigger, brighter blemish on your tactical shirt. "We gotta go, Sam, we should get outta here."
"Hang on," Nat paused you two, your opposite hand holding your wound; her hands occupied by a smart device, "looks like Bucky tried to highjack a helicopter. Steve stopped him, but it resulted in them all crashing in the river."
"Shit," Sam breathed. "We gotta go find them."
"We need to get outta here, you know, away from the cops and agents," your head shook. "Get somewhere safe, away from this catastrophe. We'll regroup with Steve."
"Go," Nat permitted, "I won't say a word."
"You're one of a kind, Nat," you praised, pecking her cheek. "Let's go, Sam. And grab that First Aid kit," you pointed to the wall where the white box was mounted. He agreed and you lead the way out of the facility.

Bucky groaned as he woke up, head lulling back before realizing he couldn't move his metal arm; finding it clamped in industrial weights. Sam called you both to attention, but while Steve jogged over, you remained in your place out of sheer distress.
You only vaguely listened to the conversation, hands trembling as your shoulder was bandaged to prevent further injury or infection. You did what you could to patch up any injury, and when you heard your name, you dialed in; Bucky asking, "Where is she? Is she okay?"
"You don't remember?" Sam sneered.
"No..."
"You stabbed her," the Falcon growled.
"What? N-No, I-I-I couldn't've - I wouldn't!"
"You did," Steve confirmed, pity coloring his words. "Punched her out pretty well, choked her, too. Broke her nose..."
"Please - Steve, please, tell me I didn't."
"I'm sorry, Buck."
"That why she's not here? She's in a hospital?"
"Actually, no," Sam trailed, "she's just in the other room."
"She didn't want to come here?"
Steve sighed as Sam informed, "Don't think she wants to see you right now, man."
"I didn't mean to hurt her."
"We know," Steve swiftly promised, nodding his head. "She knows it, too, you just have to give her some time."
Bucky looked utterly defeated, murmuring, "I scared her. Oh, my God, I scared her..."
"Gotta agree with you there."
"Sam," Steve reprimanded. "Look, Buck, she'll come around."
You waited until the two men left Bucky alone to regroup and stratify a new course of action. Slowly and almost sheepishly, you entered where Bucky was being kept, steps silent but he heard you anyways. His blue eyes flashed in concern as he met your gaze, mouth opening and closing as if words failed him.
"Doll," he finally breathed, "a-are you all right?"
"I'm okay."
"Don't bullshit me, how hard did I hit you? Steve said I broke your nose, I-I'm so sorry, doll, please believe me. What'd I do to your shoulder? Is that where I stabbed you?"
"Buck," you sighed, slowly squatting in front of him, "I need you to take a breath and know that I understand you were not in your right state of mind. You were forcibly triggered and sent back into that way of thinking, I know it wasn't you."
"I still hurt you, I still did it."
"Did you, though?" Your head cocked, eyes narrowing slightly, "Because I know my Bucky wouldn't hurt me, would never dare lay a hand on me - but the Winter Solider is a different story. You didn't do this, Buck, you weren't you."
"I can smell the fear on you."
"Well, yeah, it fuckin' scared me. I tried to stop that fake doctor, I tried to help, tried to save you and keep your safe. I'm sorry I was too slow, that I failed."
"You didn't fail anything, sweetheart... I-I failed you, I broke my promise to never hurt you."
"No, you didn't. The Winter Solider did all that, not my Bucky."
He frowned, repeating to ask softly, "Your Bucky?"
"My Bucky - the kind, charismatic, impossibly stubborn, kind hearted man I've loved the past couple of years who always gives me the crispiest fries, who has nightmares, who loves me unconditionally despite what I, too, have done in my past. And you know what I was doing out there while Sam and Steve talked to you?"
"What's that, doll?"
"Understanding that loving someone means loving their flaws, accepting them exactly as they are. So, while, yes, the Winter Solider scares the fuck outta me, he's still part of you and I can't authentically love you if I reject the Soldier."
His head shook "Your kindness is wasted on me."
"I think you should let me decide what's a waste and what's not when it comes to my own energy and emotion."
"I'm just gonna end up hurting you again. You're better off without me, baby, you and I both know you're better off keeping your distance. You should get out now while you still can."
"Not gonna happen. 'Cause you know what else I realized?" You reached up to caress his cheek, "I trust you beyond reasonable doubt, I trust you even if I'm afraid of the Winter Solider. I should've been faster, I should've helped you more, but I was powerless against that red notebook."
"You and I, both..."
You pet the cheek you were holding. "Buck, I know it was scary, I know how it must've felt being forced back into that mindset, but I want you to know that I'm in this for the long haul - you're not gonna scare me off. Because I love you, Bucky, and every single part of you - whether choking me out or not. Whether I earn a broken nose or not."
"I'm so sorry. I-I can't believe I did that, I'm so sorry, I hate that I hurt you. I'm so sorry, baby, I can't - I can't even put it in words how much I regret putting you in that position."
You smirked, "See? The Winter Soldier has no remorse, but my Bucky does." You gingerly reached out to curl his hair behind his ear. "My Bucky apologizes and takes accountability. There's no reason to not love that man - especially when he deserves it so much. Hey? Hear me? You deserve to be loved, too, Buck."
"And you deserve a man who doesn't run the risk of being turned into a psycho killing machine over a few measly words."
"I deserve to love my best friend, so let me do that. Say whatever you want, try to push me away - but I'm like a boomerang, baby, I'll just come right back."
"What kinda man puts his best girl in that kinda position? Who hurts the most important person in his life?"
"A man who endured decades of abuse," you laid your hands on either of his thighs, "a man who wasn't allowed control of his own mind. I can't - no, no, I won't fault you for that, Buck. Today wasn't your fault and I'll remind you of that as often as it takes. Don't you dare feel guilty because you didn't do this to me, okay? You didn't put me in any position - that fake fucking doctor did this, Agent Ross did this, special ops put us here. You, my sweet boy, didn't do anything to be at fault. You were trapped, but look at you now - freed, level headed, talking to me."
His eyes gleamed with a sheen of emotion, staring at the bloodied bandage wrapping your shoulder wound before his eyes danced over the bruising and other aftermath of your injuries. "I could've killed you," he muttered, tears filling his eyes.
"But you didn't - and surprisingly, neither did the Winter Soldier. Maybe there was a part of you still alive, wanting to refuse orders and not actually hurt me."
"Perhaps," he frowned. "I'm still so sorry, doll, I hate that I did this to you. It never should've happened."
Your head nodded, "I know, baby, and listen - I forgive you. Yeah? Hear me? I forgive you, this is in the past."
"Are you sure about me? You sure you wanna do this? Knowing I could flip a switch and hurt you - maybe even worse than today?"
"I'm sure about you, Buck," you agreed. "I don't wanna be without you, so, sign me up for whatever's to come."
"You might regret that."
"The only thing I could ever regret is abandoning you. I don't want to do this without you - I love our life together. In any world, in any lifetime, I'd still choose you. There's nothing that would make me regret you - regret being with you."
"You sure? I don't want to make you do anything out of your comfort."
"I love you, Bucky, yes, I'm sure. No matter what damage you think you might've caused, whatever damage has been done, I promise, that's not the truth. There's nothing about you that I could regret."
"Well, all that's left now is to get to Siberia, stop the other Winter Soldiers."
"And figure out a way to free your mind once and for all... It's what you deserve," you told him softly, rocking to your knees to meet his forehead with yours and caressing his cheek again. When you heard approaching footsteps, you sighed and pulled away from him to stand and turn, spying Sam and Steve. "C'mon, Cap, get him outta this. He's not gonna attack anyone," you requested, gesturing where your boyfriend was trapped.
"You sure?" Sam asked stiffly. "He did a real number on you alone. Not to mention all the other agents and cops he took out back there."
"He's good," you snapped, perking your brows at Steve, "and you two would do well not to throw what happened in his face, it wasn't his fault. So c'mon, free him, he's not a wild animal."
Steve agreed and lifted the machinery from Bucky's prosthetic, him instantly snatching it back and massaging where the joint met metal. Bucky stood with a set stare at Sam and Steve, as if anticipating them to lunge at him. His throat constricted, swelled with emotion when you stepped in front of him - posing barrier between the two Avengers and himself.
"You still got that phone on you?" Steve asked you softly.
"I do."
"Is it still unregistered?"
"You know it is. Who're we calling?"
"Reinforcements. We're gonna need help now that the Avengers will be looking for us. We gotta get to Siberia."
"Here," you agreed, unlocking the device and handing it over. "Who's first on your list?"
"Any Avenger who didn't sign the Sokovia Accords."
When he walked away with Sam again, you turned to face your lover directly; staring into swirling storms of baby blues. "You still with me?" You asked softly, reaching up to caress his hair again to push it behind his ear.
"Always. Got my six?"
"You know I do, baby," you smirked, stepping into his chest and wrapping your arms around his waist. "We'll figure this out, together."
"Together," he agreed, sighing deeply and returning your embrace tightly. His flesh hand rose to hold the back of your head, bringing his lips down to lay a chaste kiss on the top of your head. His voice rattled quietly, "Thank you..."
"Hmm? For what, handsome?"
"Believing in me. It's nice to think we can end this torment."
You smiled up at him, "You deserve freedom, Bucky, and to live without this haunting fear."
"I don't know about 'deserving' it, sweetheart. Done a lot of things that would argue against that."
"Maybe against the Winter Soldier, but Bucky deserves the world. Deserves kindness, accommodation, love and understanding. Now," you smirked and sniffled, giving his waist another squeeze before releasing and pulling back, "get your head outta this pit and focus, we've got a long day ahead of us."
He agreed, letting you take his hand and lace fleshy fingers together in a tether. Sam's face remained stoic and passive, but when Steve saw you two, he couldn't help but smile. Two years he hunted for Bucky and just today, he's learned his best friend's been shacked up with you - a warmth blooming in his chest over the idea of you two finding one another and loving each other.

༻ It comes and goes | Natasha Romanoff ༺
Natasha Romanoff x gn!reader
≿━━━━━༺❀༻━━━━━━≾
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: You've spent a chunk of your life battling the emotional thoughts of bipolar and have no concept on dealing with your emotions. Sitting in the rain does feel like drowning but it's comforting, until a hand from Romanoff drags you out of the depths of water.
Warnings: reader has bipolar, mentions of low thoughts, a shit ton of hurt/comfort, natasha just allowing reader to understand it's okay to not be okay!
Word Count: 1.8K
AN: This is just a small comfort fic while I work on my peggy!yandere fic and of course the strip club natasha one. (I haven't forgotten them!)
Wrote this a while back just to cope with my own diagnosis and anyone is welcome to gain comfort from it. Be my happy flowers guys! <3
≿━━━━━༺❀༻━━━━━━≾
There's one thing people never quite clarify with you, that the older you get just becomes more hard to swim. Kids always jump for growing up and throwing away their innocence not knowing of the tidal wave coming slowly along the sea, prepared to drown out your every thought of contentment.
Aged 10 was the last time you could ever remember not suffering with the constant feeling of a pit of anxiety, suffering and longing to allow the waters of the sea to suck you in. The way you used to place fictional games with your friends, always being petty shit's on the concept of, "Ask... it's not my game," or the fighting of being first in the lunch line.
You'd kept the diagnosis quiet when joining the Avengers, not wanting any of your fellow teammates to think any less of you. You'd felt less of yourself the moment the words of the diagnosis slipped from the nurses tongue 5 years prior. 5 years officially diagnosed but you didn't feel any lighter, instead you felt heavier.
"Sometimes we like to do CBT," the woman stated and your head tilted to the side.
"What's CBT?" Your hands bounced on your knees.
Slipping out the compound wasn't the easiest job. You'd all had meetings back to back with Ross and the damn government. An excuse slipped past your lips faster than it should have done. You'd stated only that you couldn't attend the final one as you'd had to go pick up your little sister.
Sure it would have been a valid excuse. If you actually had a sister. Yet, you didn't so you knew you'd be caught out eventually especially if Fury found out already knowing your background including family members. Still, you'd deal with that when the moment occurred for it.
"It's called cognitive behavioural therapy. It's commonly used for depression or anxiety but we do tend to use it on other patients like in your case to help you to cope with living with bipolar."
Your brain tried to stay focused but all you heard was the words 'your bipolar,' then began to shut off. After that the session was a blur. No thoughts passed your mind, no feelings ran through your veins nor emotions. Just the concept of numbness. Nothing to feel.
Heading back to the compound was a stressful moment. As soon as you walked through the doors you'd have to put on a whole front again pretending you were and felt something you didn't.
In all honesty it was comforting to sometimes be able to do that. Around your therapist, the outside world even your family they treaded lightly, afraid one word would break you like shattering glass hitting the floor or a porcelain doll. With the Avengers they didn't know, so you weren't a doll and you weren't glass. You were yourself and that alone.
However, sometimes it would be nice to just let yourself go. Your feet padded up the stairs of the compound entering the main room, the lounge where they sat watching TV and discussing.
"Hey, Y/N.. you okay?" Sam's voice was the first to speak but it sounded.. concerned?
"Yeah, fine thanks Sam," you responded allowing your eyes to meet his own.
Trying to act as casually as you always did, you went to grab a glass of water turning on the tap watching it run down the sink hole. You often wished you could be flushed away like that.
Shaking your head away from deeper thoughts you grabbed your glass sipping at the water looking up to see everyone examining you. A familiar feeling of dread, the emotional tidal waves flushing through your skin wanting out came crashing to the surface.
They surely couldn't know, right?
Vision spoke up first, possibly to ease up the tension though you can hardly imagine toaster man knowing much about emotions. No offence to the guy.
"We were told you.. you're an only child," his voice seemed one not of judgment but of confusion.
"Oh.. right," was the only response your brain could conjure up in that moment.
Tony let out a half-sided smile and you were grateful he wasn't digging too much. Surprisingly none of them were. He did speak up after a beat or two and while it wasn't their fault you did wish they wouldn't at all.
"Whatever is going on, we.. we're here," His tone was the best of sentiment you'd get out of him.
You truly were grateful but you hadn't a moments thought on how to even tell them. Fear of being kicked off the team, living half a life amongst them simply for suffering with some health issues was silly to other's minds, but not to your own.
Shaking your head you grabbed your jacket you'd left on the chair offering them all a tight lipped smile. Your eyes connected with Natasha's and your eyes felt like watering. She wasn't looking at you like you were damaged, nor was it in a concerned only look.
Nat was looking at you like she knew, like she understood what you felt and the pain gnawing away at you only grew. Her emerald green eyes looking one of connecting with nature swimming with the look of understanding was a pain you couldn't bare.
You mumbled that you needed air, heading towards the patio you'd become familiar with at night. It had become a comfort location, you'd seen Natasha out there a few times although, come to think of it lately she seemed to not be heading there anymore.
The mumbling and mainly muffled voices of the Avengers informed you that it was raining, but your brain scarcely paid attention. You just needed out, besides who gives a fuck if the rain touched your skin.
Your brain danced with thoughts of how to calm yourself down and you knew instantly, as your reached into your back pocket slipping in your airpods and connected them to your phone. Sliding open the patio door, you ungracefully sat down on the bench looking down as the rain hit your skin.
Hair becoming drenched you focused on your chosen song, trying to drown out any invading thoughts that would cluster your mindset, instead focusing on how you felt utterly at home.
The chosen song had been Waves by Dean Lewis. It reminded you so much of how your brain's concept of emotions and how your life seemed to go in waves of the ocean.
Sometimes you saw yourself standing next to the ocean as it pulled you out. The freedom of falling, allowing yourself to no longer panic over bipolar or how the world saw you.
The rain splashed down heavily on your skin and you felt wet through but you didn't mind, or frankly didn't care. Nor were you sure how long you had been listening to songs in the rain, it felt late but it felt like seconds.
A gentle hand on your shoulder pulled you from your thoughts. Your mind had been dancing to Paris, Texas by Lana until your body almost jolted forward from the contact. The sudden shelter from the rain made your head tilt up to come in contact with emerald eyes.
Natasha stood tall, almost protecting you- sheltering you from the rain, a beacon of hope. You offered the best smile you could give, despite the fact it looked like you were in pain more than smiling before indicating to her to sit down.
Her red hair cascaded down her shoulders, pulled half back into a plait that was elegant but moved with ease. It suited her just as most things did. You'd noticed that about her, for a woman who'd been through so much Natasha did everything with elegance and ease.
"You know, when I was a child I used to run out into the rain, the firefly's came out at night," She confessed causing you to stiffen up.
Natasha wasn't one for opening up, let alone talking of her childhood past, so why you? You let her express her thoughts almost curious to see where she was going to take this.
"My mom she'd come out to find me afterwards and I was always helping my little sister who also danced away with the firefly's. It wasn't real though. Not truly," She proceeded and your heart melted and cracked for the older woman.
"Nat I.."
You weren't even sure what to respond with. Hearing her open up around her past made your own pain seem tiny, insignificant despite the fact she wasn't attempting to do that.
"You don't need to say anything, I understand. Perhaps not what you're going through. The feeling of masking right, I see it," she continued tilting her head towards you.
She proceeded her train of thought.
"It comes and goes in waves. The feeling of this family. I had no one after the family I grew up with, no one but myself. Don't drown your thoughts out in the rain, drag yourself up out of the ocean, trust me Y/N."
You finally looked up making eye contact with the Russian, smiling softly at her nodding. You took off your glove reaching sighing looking down at your hands.
"Sometimes, my therapist gets it to a certain extent but sometimes she doesn't. When it feels like all you can do it float out to sea and drown in a pit of your own emotions. The masking isn't something I want to do, but simply so people don't see my problems.. they just see me."
A tear slipped down your cheek without even realising it and you closed your eyes. Nothing was spoken amongst the pouring of the rain, nothing was needed to be said. All that was needed was the words you let echo. It felt like you were drowning in a sea of hell, with no way out.
Through the mist and fog engulfing your brain, taking you out to the sea you felt a touch upon your hand. Eyes opening wide, you saw it. Her hand clasped tightly in your own trying to drag you out of the suffering, reach to you through the ocean like a beacon of a ship, rising up it's anchor.
Her eyes looked into your own, reflecting what she wanted to say but had no thoughts on how to express it. Her touch was all you needed, the words slipping past your mouth before you could think.
"Your family.. It might not have been directly real, but they pulled you out of the waves while it lasted, it was real to you Natasha," You explained watching it pull at her heart strings.
She offered you a watery smile, her eyes dancing with sea of hope just as your own while you were perhaps an an anchor in the waves you steadied each other out in a balance.
"This family is real to you too. We are real and we see you. I see you Y/N," Her voice bringing comfort and warmth.
You grabbed her hand tightly because while your bipolar had an anchor on you, you had a ship lifting you through the sea's Natasha and your little family. They were there to guide you.

Just A Number
Bucky Barnes x Older Reader
Summary: Reader meets Bucky at a party and the attraction is more than either one of them wants to resist.
Notes: Since most stories are younger readers I felt like having a more mature reader could be a nice change of pace. Especially since I'm creeping up on senior discounts and want to believe Bucky could fall in love with someone like me.
I try to keep my readers description vague but, as always, she's female, tall and this one is obviously 40+
Previous chapter.....
The woman sighed "I'm Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine but you can call me Val. I'm told your entire family is here tonight and I need a word."
Chapter 14
Notes at the end of this chapter.
Warnings: swearing and fluff, talk about sex
Dawn let Val in and led her to the dining room where everyone was having dessert and coffee, they all stopped talking to check out the newcomer. Val sat and accepted the coffee that Dawn offered while everyone else waited for her to speak.
Val looked up from her coffee and winked "I'm sure you're all wondering why I gathered you here today" and chuckled at herself "Sorry, I've always wanted to say that but it's also probably true."
John nodded "We're all listening."
Val nodded " Right. So most of you know I'm working with General Ross on his campaign and his plans to make a team of, ahem, reformed villains. This team would work around the law to help fight our enemies." She paused to take a bite of her dessert "Mmmm, this is very good." And washed it down with a sip of coffee "I'm working on the line up but in addition to you I'm hoping to recruit one of Natasha Romanoffs red room sisters, Yelena Belova, the Red Guardian and the Taskmaster. A couple others are in my sights as well. Some people think that someone like that shouldn't have any close family or attachments but I think having loved ones to fight for is a good thing. A sister or girlfriend who works for Pepper Potts could also be helpful."
Y/N shook her head "I'll support James if he's going to be part of your team but Pepper has done quite a bit for me and I won't betray her or give away any of her or the companies secrets." Bucky squeezed her hand so she knew he supported her.
Val nodded "Fair enough, I'll speak to Mrs Potts-Stark about making you a liaison. Her company has some of the best tech out there." She looked between Bucky and Y/N "You 2 are a good pair, top of the charts in our internal polling. Keep up the good work."
Bucky and Y/N looked at each other, confused but Val had already moved on to John and Olivia "John, you need to stop the womanizing and work on your marriage. It's hard to convince people that you're reformed if you're blatantly cheating on your wife."
She handed Olivia her business card "Call me if he gives you any trouble." She stopped to take a sip of her coffee.
"Bucky and John, you both just need to stay out of trouble until Ross is inaugurated, you'll all be invited and the team will be introduced sometime around then. You may be called on if anything comes up but until then, take an extended vacation, on a grateful government."
Val sat back and took another bite of her tart before John spoke up "But Sharon said-"
Val cleared her throat "Nope, don't even finish that thought. I have Agent Carter working on some other concerns that don't involve you. Your association is done, end of discussion."
She finished her coffee "This tart is delish, I haven't had fresh strawberries in years. So, I'll speak to Pepper and Ross to set that up. Maybe you should take some time too Y/N, see some of the world with the Sargent."
She stood and headed for the front door before anyone else could stand.
"I'll be in touch."
Dawn and Y/N looked at each other and shrugged. Olivia spoke up "Well, she's an odd one. I thought that when John and I met her."
She looked at John "I might be willing to reconcile but you'll have to prove yourself and regain my trust. Maybe some counseling would be a good idea."
John looked around to see everyone glaring at him and shrugged defeated "Yeah, I guess we can try that."
After the kitchen was cleaned up Bucky and Y/N went back to her room. They spent the rest of the day cuddling and watching TV until Bucky spoke up.
"What do you think about what Val said? About taking some time off to see the world?" He looked at her hopefully.
Y/N ran her fingers through his hair "I would love to. Having Michael at 17 kept us from doing much traveling outside of some family road trips. I've always wanted to see more of the world but I don't know if Pepper will be ok with it, I haven't worked for her long enough to have accrued many vacation days. And I definitely don't have a lot of money to toss around."
Bucky nuzzled her neck "Didn't you hear her say an extended vacation on the government? Maybe Olivia could fill in for you with Pepper."
He nibbled on her ear and down her neck "I'd love to get you on a warm, private beach. Maybe Pepper has one we could use, I know Tony had places all over the world."
He kissed her shoulder "we could stay in bed until noon and then go lay on the beach, maybe play in the water. I bet you're a real dish in a swim suit."
He growled as he turned her onto her back, mumbling as he kissed down her body "so beautiful, tastes so sweet." He looked up into her eyes for the ok to go further.
Y/N rolled her eyes at him, exasperated "You're insatiable!"
Bucky nipped the top of one of her breasts "For you doll? Always. You feel and taste so good, I don't think I'll ever get enough."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Five days later they were sitting together on the Stark corporate jet, that Pepper insisted they use, but Bucky still hadn't told her where they were headed except that it was someplace warm.
Y/N felt dizzy at the events of the last few days. One day she's having Sunday dinner with her family, then after a few words from Val, a discussion with Pepper, a day of shopping and a day of packing, then she's here sipping expensive champagne while a dark haired, centenarian super soldier is cuddling her in his lap.
She pulled back to look at him "Does all this feel a bit, surreal to you? Life has taken some crazy turns in the last year and I went from mourning to falling for an enhanced hundred year old dreamboat who's taking me on a fancy vacation in a private jet."
Bucky looked at her with a lopsided grip and a twinkle in his blue eyes "Dreamboat, huh? I don't know that someone my age could be considered a dreamboat but my life has felt surreal since Steve saved me the first time. Right now definitely seems like a high point, flying on that private jet with the prettiest doll I've ever met."
Y/N felt her face heat up before fidgeting in his lap until he grabbed her hips to hold her still. "So, how much time until we land?"
Bucky chuckled "It'll be awhile. You want to take a nap or something? Might help us adjust to the time difference."
Y/N looked at him and fluttered her lashes "Have you ever heard of the mile high club?"
He shook his head "No, do we have to reach a certain altitude? Did you tell Happy?"
She giggled "No, that's not it." She leaned to whisper in his ear, explaining what she wanted.
Bucky pulled back, surprised "Right here?"
She shook her head "I mean, we could but there is a bed in back. Most people are on commercial flights so have to do it in the bathroom and hope they don't get caught."
He shook his head "I don't think it would be possible in the bathroom but-" he quickly stood, holding on to the back of her thighs and making her yelp.
Bucky carried her to the back of the plane where he gently dropped her on the bed before quickly removing his clothes. He then focused all his attention on her until she was tired, shaking and slightly dazed from his efforts. He grabbed a towel to clean her up and lay down next to her, chuckling at her soft snores.
They woke shortly before landing and once dressed and fixed up, Y/N looked out a window eyes growing wide at the White sand, coconut trees and blue water.
Bucky helped her off the jet and they walked to a limo.
Happy opened the door for them, smiled and told them "Welcome to Bora Bora, Sargent, Miss.
It's a short ride to the house, please make yourself comfortable."
Y/N looked at Bucky "Bora Bora!?"
He chuckled and nodded "Yep. Pepper has a house here with a private beach. I figure we can relax here for a few days, then decide where else you want to go."
They were both suitably impressed at the huge, beautiful house which included every luxury possible. The largest of the 7 suites opened to the beach with a Jacuzzi on the deck.
Since they had rested on the plane, they changed into cooler clothes, Y/N in a pastel blue gauze dress and Bucky in a t-shirt and shorts, and went for a walk on the beach before lunch.
They walked slowly, holding hands and taking in the beauty before they stopped to watch the water as a pod of dolphins swam past. Once they were out of sight, Bucky pulled her close to kiss her before dropping to one knee.
Y/N looked at him, confused for a minute before she realized what what happening. She felt her heart speed up "Bucky?"
Bucky looked at her with eyes full of love "Y/N, doll, I'm not great with words and I'm horribly broken but I hope I've given you even a fraction of the happiness you've given me and I promise I will do my very best and spend the rest of our lives trying to make you as happy as you make me." He cleared his throat and held out an old fashioned sapphire ring "Marry me?"
Y/N was shocked and speechless with tears streaming down her face as she nodded energetically "Yes! Yes, of course."
Bucky's hands shook as he tried to put the ring on her shaking hand and once that was accomplished he picked her up as he stood and spun them both around. He let her down and kissed her with everything he had.
He pulled back to look in her eyes "I never imagined I'd meet someone like you, especially after.....everything." Took her left hand and kissed the ring "You know, I don't know if I want to wait any longer. How would you feel about a very short engagement that ends at sunset? Or would you rather have a huge, expensive thing?"
Y/N shook her head "I'm sure you know me well enough that I don't want some big, flashy event but I don't know if I could do it without my family. I mean at least Dawn and the kids."
She choked up a little "Besides, Dawn would hurt you so maybe a little planning and a small thing back home?"
Bucky nodded "I think I can work with some of that but before we discuss this anymore, I have a surprise for you."
Y/N giggled "More than proposing?"
"Yeah, it's at the house. C'mon, I'll show you."
He pulled her up the beach impatiently until he got frustrated and threw her over his shoulder.
As they got closer to the house she heard music and voices in the air, Y/N tried to look around and see who was there but couldn't. As soon as Bucky sat her down she turned around and heard people yelling "Surprise!".
The shock almost knocked her over but Bucky was quick to catch her.
Dawn, Michael, Jessie, Olivia, John, Sam and Pepper were standing by the table on the deck that they appeared to be decorating.
Y/N didn't know what to think so hugged all her friends and family that she had seen on the other side of the world less than a day ago.
"I don't understand. What's going on?"
Dawn chuckled "Isn't it obvious, dear sister? We're here for the wedding?"
Y/N turned to Bucky "You planned all this before you even proposed? How did you? What if? That's awfully presumptuous of you, Sargent."
He chuckled "I never had a doubt"
Dawn cackled "Don't let him fool you, Sissy. He's been making me crazy for 2 weeks. Then Val showed up and sent you on vacation so we had to start over."
She winked at Bucky "You two better make this last because I'm not dealing with another wedding. Now, come eat lunch so we can get you ready."
After lunch Dawn took Y/N to one of the bedrooms to fix a wreath in her hair, apply light make up and change her into an ivory, lacy, off the shoulder dress and sandals. She quickly kicked the sandals off.
As the sun began to set the ukulele cover version of "Over the Rainbow" came through speakers on the deck while Michael and Jessie walked their mom to stand beside Bucky who was dressed simply in black slacks and a short sleeved white dress shirt, no shoes.
Everyone stood on the beach for the brief ceremony, officiated by Happy Hogan, cheering loudly and taking pictures when the newly married couple kissed as the sun set behind them.
Notes: this is the end of the story that was in my head but I'll probably be writing more on the newlyweds honeymoon adventures.
I also reserve the right to check in on this couple when Thunderbolts is released.
ㅤㅤㅤ   ㅤ
Summary:   Y/N proposes to Wanda and she says… no. That’s when things get complicated, too much.
Pairing: Wanda Maximoff x f!reader | Natasha Romanoff x oc
ㅤㅤㅤ    CHAPTER ONE CHAPTER TWO  CHAPTER THREE CHAPTER FOUR CHAPTER FIVE CHAPTER SIX - finale
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Warning:  Somewhat graphic MCU violence, ANGST and FLUFF. As you know me: Jules is portrayed by Adelaide Kane. This mcu style is my own, Natasha Romanoff will not die here. You're warned. She deserves to be happy.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Songs you've need to listen reading this:
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
The Great War Fade into you - Mash up ㅤㅤㅤ
Tumblr media
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤCHAPTER FOUR ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤPART I: THE GREAT WAR
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Natasha Romanoff and Wanda Maximoff are in violation of the Sokovia Accords. They assaulted the king of Wakanda and now they're helping two of the most dangerous fugitives, Y/N Y/L/N and Julia Hale. Make an example out of them.” General Ross ordered his soldiers, who after taking courage entered the building surrounding it.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
It wasn’t an easy mission to find themselves against three enhanced and the fucking Black Widow.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Ross's phone started ringing a few seconds later, unaware that a certain redhead was watching him through the cameras around the place.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Yeah?”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Don't do this.” Natasha left the phone on speaker and looked at herself in the mirror.  “Come after me... I mean, you're embarrassing yourself. It looks desperate.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Thought maybe you'd be calling me to cut a deal. 'Cause from my vantage point, it's the federal fugitive who's desperate.” Ross's voice showed how proud he felt, he had captured the elusive Black Widow.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Natasha sighed, changing her blouse for a nice grey hoodie. “From my vantage point, you look like you could use some bed rest. What is this, your second triple bypass? You look like shit.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“I wouldn't worry about me.” Ross scoffed. “We got your sister, she's fiery! We got Barton, we got the Bishop girl, Sam Wilson...”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Natasha clenched her jaw when she heard her sister's name, he knew how to press those weak points. Or at least try.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Everyone will recognize you all, Rogers is on the run too. You got no friends. Where you gonna go?”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“I've lived a lot of lives before I met you, Ross.” Nat smiled and took her phone. “You shouldn't have gone to all this trouble. I'm done.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
She ended the call and left that bathroom. As she walked to the bow of that boat, Ross right now was breaking into a long ago abandoned apartment.
Nat played him a trick again, he took the bite perfectly.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“All good?” Y/N asked as she watched the redhead approach breaking that disposable phone.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“The asshole swallowed it all.” Natasha threw the phone into the water. There was no one but them and some people sleeping, it was barely five in the morning.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
The breeze and the mist from the Norwegian fjords in front of them showed them one of the most beautiful landscapes they had ever seen.
Y/N handed her a cup of coffee and they both shared a moment together while Wanda and Jules rested before they reached Sæbø.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Perfect. Now we just... let's try to keep up.” Y/N sighed and looked around.  Sæbø was a fairly quiet town, and living on the outskirts would give them a great advantage in staying unnoticed.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“We need to draw less attention.” Nat licked her lips and leaned against the ship's rail, watching that beautiful place. “I never came to Norway, you know?”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"It's beautiful." The brunette smiled. “Thank you for doing this, you didn't have to. You could have stayed on Stark's side, you know he would have supported you."
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“I know.” Nat sighed and turned to see her friend. “But I wouldn't leave my friends behind, Yelena wouldn't forgive me either.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Just remembering her sister and the conditions in which they surely kept her broke everything inside the spy.
Nat struggled a lot to find Yelena again and gain her trust, leaving her on the raft for a while longer was painful but necessary.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“We can do this, and soon we will rescue Yelena. We just need time to put together everything we need.” Y/N placed her hand on the redhead's shoulder. Nat's teary green eyes broke her heart.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“You promise me?”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“I swear, Nat. We'll go get her.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Tumblr media
“We've got a generator outside. It's petrol-powered. And the septic tank will need a flush in a couple of weeks, but, you know, I've got a guy coming for that.” Richard got out of that trailer and turned to see Nat, who was perched against the door smirking. “You okay? I hear things. You know, something about the Avengers getting divorced...”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Ugh. It's fine.” Natasha shrugged.  “I'm actually better on my own.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
The man arched an eyebrow, at least she was still looking really hot like always. “Are you sure?”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ “Yeah.” ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Because you can tell me, you know.” Richard smiled flirtatiously at her. “That's the way the whole friends thing works.” ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ “I know. I have friends.” Nat smiled and nodded toward the girls arriving at the trailer.  “They’re there… and I don't pay you to worry.” ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Ouch.” The man teasingly touched his chest and then walked to his car. ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
At that time, Y/N parked the small Lada Niva jeep in front of the campsite. They all started to unload all the supplies they had brought from three markets in the town. ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N wore her hair in two braids, a huge plaid shirt and a cute beanie. Jules now had a wild ‘bisexual-bob’ cut with a few streaks of blonde, quite different from her typical dark hair. Wanda was the one who had made the makeover and according to the girls: she did an excellent job. ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ And Wanda kept her brown hair but with bangs, making her look adorable and different. No one had recognized them until now, and if they did, they just smiled kindly and kept the secret to support them. They saved the world so many times, people saw that and cared for them.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ “Did you get rejected again?” Y/N joked at Richard and he just shrugged. Wanda smiled - she knew Richard didn't stand a chance with Nat- and Jules just rolled her eyes. ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ “She is hard to catch.” Richard got in his car and drove off. ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ The three arrived at the first trailer, while the other was a little further away, near the river. ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Richard stopped by for some smooch or what?” Y/N joked, but Natasha just completely ignored it. Wanda just said a soft 'ew'. ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ “Very funny… but seriously speaking, it's all done.” Nat showed them all the place, both trailers had a cozy bedroom, a bathroom, a nice sofa and TV, as well as a small kitchen. Everything was pretty cozy and good. “The idea would be that we live two in each trailers.” ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ They all agreed. Wanda walked through the trailer snooping around the kitchen area and the bedroom. ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ “The story, if the police come close - which I highly doubt - is that we are Aussies backpacking the world.” ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“It sounds pretty good.” Y/N nodded. ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ “Looks good.” Wanda added. “Better than that small room in Budapest.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ “Good. Here are some important items, passports, weapons, some personal stuff you may need.” Nat took two of the bags and gave one to Y/N. “Wanda you coming with me, Jules and Y/N together.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ Y/N raised a brow. “That doesn’t sound safe, if they find us, you’re two Avengers with their faces on the magazines. They would recognize you instantly.” ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ “Y/N and me, you and Jules.” Wanda tried, trying to hide her intentions to spend more time with Y/N.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ “Yeah, nice try.” Nat rolled her eyes. “Y/N and me, Wanda and Jules.” ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
They all looked at each other and then nodded, it didn't sound so bad.
Tumblr media
“All that bloodshed, crimson clover. Uh huh, sweet dream was over. My hand was the one you reached for… All throughout the Great War...” ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ Her friend's voice made Y/N  smile, Jules had a beautiful voice, so deep and so beautiful that she could send chills down your spine when she sang. Though she didn't do it much. ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Come on, you can do it.” The currently blonde cheered her up. ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
The brunette closed her eyes, inhaled deeply and tried to think of some nice memory. Losing herself in that melancholic sensation and not letting be carried away by sadness, Y/N raised her hand and felt how the breeze hit her face. ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
The leaves of the trees on the ground began to swirl around them, nothing violent, like a slow dance. In perfect sync. ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ Y/N smiled when she noticed how the leaves danced, some clouds formed over them but the inhuman dissipated them carefully. ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ “How does it feel?” Jules asked. ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“It’s… it’s different. I feel everything, it’s like… when I’m angry the thunder-clouds talk to me, they beg me to let them rain. The power of the storm flows through my veins, my mind, it's part of me.” Y/N shrugged, few seconds later everything calmed down and the leaves fell to the ground. “That was good, right?”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Good? It was amazing! You are improving a lot... I’m proud of you!” Jules smiled proudly but couldn't help feeling a little sad, which her friend noticed.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“You okay?” Y/N approached her.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“I’m just… I used to be an agent, you know? I was good at it.” Jules swallowed, lowering her gaze somewhat sadly.  “Now I'm afraid of... of not knowing what I am.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Feeling that you are different and starting to know yourself was something incredible, scary but incredible. But what happens when you don't know what you are? Or rather: what you can do.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“What happens if I explode? What happens if... something catches fire because of me? What would happen if...? I don't know.” Jules panicked but Y/N rushed to hug her. “What if I hurt you all? Maybe I should go, be alone...”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“That will not happen, everything will be fine. You won't hurt us, okay?” Y/N smiled tenderly and took her hand, squeezing it gently.  “Soon you’ll know, when it is time, we will discover it together…”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Jules didn't say anything, just seemed lost in fear and thoughts.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“You with me?”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“All the way.” The blonde smiled.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N nodded and took her arm so they could walk together down that path in the woods, coming back to the trailers.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“So… You haven't talked to Wanda?” Jules smiles mischievously, biting her bottom lip.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Jules…”
ㅤㅤㅤ “What? You can tell me, I'm her roomie, remember?” She cocked her head to see Y/N. “I have to say: she has not stopped talking about you all this time. You two need to talk...”ㅤ
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I don’t know how to do it.” Y/N sighed, she felt too lost and confused. It was so much easier when Wanda was acting like a jerk, it made 'ignoring' her so much easier. “She wants to try or something, I don't know. Last time she told me that she was very sorry for everything she did.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
The blonde sighed and shrugged.  “Maybe…you should give it to her.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“You think so?” Y/N couldn't believe it, she had to stop to see her friend face to face. “You're the one who was mad at her the most. You wanted to kick her as soon as you found out.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Well we all have our moments, don't we? Forgive and forget and all that shit.” Jules rolled her eyes.  “Besides, I heard how every day she came to talk to you while we were locked up… Y/N, she loves you and she’s sorry.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“But-”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“And you know what?” Jules stopped, being serious this time. What she wanted most in the world was for her best friend and sister to be happy. “We’re running across the world, as if we were the worst criminals on this planet. Don't you think you deserve a little rest? We can end up locked up in the middle of the ocean, it's time for you to live. Be with her.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I’m scared.” Y/N shrugged and put her hands in the pockets of the hoodie. “What if she hurts me again? What if she walks away again and broke me again with her absence?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“What if it doesn't happen?” Jules arched an eyebrow, winning this battle.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N sighed in defeat. “Maybe…”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Besides that a little sex wouldn't hurt.”  Jules teased and they both started walking, reaching the campsite soon.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Shut up.” Y/N giggled and pushed her.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Go, talk to her… she was in our trailer doing some stuff when I left. Meanwhile, I'll go to... to town to buy something, or the river. Just try not to blow the roof off my trailer when you reach an orgasm.” Jules teased one more time and moved away from her, patting Y/N’s shoulder.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Now?” Y/N panicked when she saw the trailer door open and heard how Wanda hummed a beautiful lullaby.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Now it sounds on time.” Jules turned to see her but kept walking backwards.  “Remember that we do not have much life expectancy in this job.”
Tumblr media
Y/N entered the trailer and watched as the brunette was humming and cooking something. She couldn't help but smile.
ㅤㅤㅤ “Hey, Wands.” ㅤㅤㅤ Wanda turned around quickly when she heard her, smiling as soon as she saw Y/N. That day got so much better. ㅤㅤㅤ “Hi! You came back, I thought you both got lost in the woods.” Wanda joked while drying her hands. Apparently she was baking some bread.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N laughed. “We just went for a walk for a while, to clear our minds.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“That sounds good, sometimes it's necessary when this is… too much...” Wanda sighed, looking around her.ㅤㅤㅤ
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Today I was able to move the treetops a bit. Very slowly, without causing any trouble. No thunderstorms, no tornadoes, no hail. Just everything under control.” For the first time, she was glad to have some kind of control over her powers. It felt so good, she felt happy.
ㅤㅤㅤ
 “Really?” Wanda smiled widely.  “Wow, Y/N, that’s so good.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Thank you.” Y/N blushed and keep their hands in their pockets. Hoped Wanda wouldn't be able to hear her heart pound with her being so close.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“At least this time I didn't make it rain when I'm feeling a little sad.” Y/N joked but recalled one of their most interesting moments there. “That would draw too much attention to us again, especially when the forecast says it will be just cloudy all week.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Wanda giggled. “Yeah, I'm sure Ross must have a whole team googling ‘weird weather stuff’ around the world.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Maybe I should even be guilty of global warming!I bet you he'll tell that to the President!”
ㅤㅤㅤ
They both laughed and it felt so warm, so good and familiar. They could finally share a personal moment together after so much.
Y/N stayed for a moment watching as Wanda cut some vegetables and dropped them into the pot, stirring it slowly. Making a delicious sauce for spaghetti.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I like how the bangs looks on you. It takes my breath away.” Y/N sighed. Wanda looked up quickly, the hope inside growing exponentially upon hearing that.
ㅤㅤ
“Do you think so?” Those hopeful green eyes sparkled.ㅤ
ㅤㅤ
“I love it, and your brown hair is... lovely.”  Y/N walked over to her and stood by her side, tucking a strand of hair behind the ear.
ㅤㅤ
“Thank you.” The sokovian murmured, biting her lower lip. “I like how you look too.”
ㅤㅤ
“I did nothing.” Y/N looked at herself.
ㅤㅤ
“I know.”
ㅤㅤ
They both looked at each other without saying anything, just the exquisite tension that they missed so much.
Since they had been together, everything was so beautiful and different. So exciting and romantic enough to scare Wanda away completely and to hurt Y/N and keep distance from her.
ㅤㅤ
 “Wanda?” Y/N whispered.
ㅤㅤ
Wanda swallowed, without breaking the connection between their gazes.  “Yes, detka?”
ㅤㅤ
“I missed you.”
ㅤㅤ
Wanda smiled tenderly and happily.  “I missed you too.”
ㅤㅤ
“You hurted me so bad.”
ㅤㅤ
Well, that had been as long as she could take. Wanda felt she couldn't climb too high as she was soon plummeting back down.
ㅤㅤ
“I know.” Wanda looked down.
ㅤㅤ
“No, no like that.” Y/N pursed her lips, it was time to drop everything once and for all to heal. “You said I wasn't THAT person you saw a future with, you didn't even know you'd be with me that long.”
ㅤㅤ
“I've said a lot of things, I know that! I was so scared, Y/N.” The brunette hugged herself. “You have no idea how scared it was to love you that way and... to feel that you loved me as much or more than I loved you. Cause I love you, so much you can't even imagine. But I felt… I felt small and scared of losing everything, that it was more than what I deserve. I was afraid that I wouldn't be enough for you, that I didn’t deserve you.”
ㅤㅤ
“We know that. And I forgive you...” Y/N sighed, she settled next to the redhead. “But if we want to move forward, we have to let go of everything that hurts us.”
ㅤㅤ
“Move forward…?” Wanda looked at her without understanding, and without wanting to get too excited for nothing.
ㅤㅤ
“I'm sorry I asked you to marry me, maybe it was too soon.”
ㅤㅤ
“No! No… It wasn't... I was just afraid, I lost everything, my family, my country, and then I have you and... I was terrified of losing you. Watching you die like everyone around me.”
ㅤㅤ
Y/N took her hand to gently caress Wanda's cheek. “You won't lose me.”
ㅤㅤ
Wanda blinked in disbelief, this was what she expected. “Is… Is this a… are we?”
ㅤㅤ
“I don’t know yet…” The taller woman narrowed her eyes playfully. “Let's go slowly, if that's alright with you.”
ㅤㅤ
Y/N was encouraged to go further and hugged Wanda’s waist who, instantly upon feeling her touch, clung to her. It didn't take long for them to kiss again, to join once more in a caress that they had been waiting for so long.
ㅤㅤ
Wanda was lost in Y/N's soft lips, in that familiar and pleasant warmth. Her belly was so warm, screaming that she was completely in love with Y/N.
There was no case, no matter how long she refused to accept it, she was in love. Wanda Maximoff is in love.
ㅤㅤ
“How about we... have a date.” She sighed once they broke away from the kiss, smiling so excited.
ㅤㅤ
Y/N chuckled, she didn’t allow herself to let go of her waist. “Oh, Wands... I think we've been through more than one date, don't you?”
ㅤㅤ
“I know, but... now we're getting to know each other again, and everything has changed so much.” Wanda took courage, defeating all the nerves she felt. “Would you come on a date with me?”
ㅤㅤ
Waiting for a while, enjoying that, Y/N nodded before pecking those lips.  “Of course.”
ㅤㅤ
And while they tried to make their first date special, it didn't take long for them to end up in the huge bed in Wanda's room. Naked bodies finding each other under the soft sheets.
Y/N's lips ran down the back of her beloved, so slowly, little by little, discovering her once again. Making each other their own, complementing each other perfectly.
ㅤㅤ
The smiles were not lacking, the words of love and eternal promises. Wanda kissed Y/N’s hand when they intertwined their fingers, after making love all night.
Of course this was going to work, this time, nothing was going to stop them.
ㅤㅤ
“We still have to go on a second date, okay?” Y/N laughed when Wanda bit her naked shoulder and kept kissing her arm and chest.
ㅤㅤ
“All the dates you want… as long as they don't find out about us.”
ㅤㅤ
“Do you know something? Maybe I’m selfish but… I like this moment, together. Just us.” Wanda snuggled up against her girlfriend. “Without a huge noisy city and problems to solve like Avengers…. Is that selfish?”
ㅤㅤ
“No, it’s not, my love. And if it was…”  She took a moment to admire her body.  “It's not bad to be selfish sometimes, you know? It makes us human.
ㅤㅤ
Tumblr media
“Sorry, I had to go inside because it's late and so fucking cold outside.” Jules got into the trailer trying to warm her hands, rubbing them together.  “In my trailer there are two lovebirds loving each other non-stop.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Natasha -who was eating something on the sofa in front of the tv- looked at her in confusion, not sure if it was because of what she said or because Jules had walked in.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Oh.” Nat nodded. “I'm glad they fixed it.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Yeah.” Jules walked over and sat in one of the chairs, taking off her coat. The place was much warmer than outside. Natasha took one of her beer bottles and held it out to her.   “Oh, you watching Bond? Nice.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Yep.” Nat didn't take her eyes off the TV, lost in the dialogues she knew by heart.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Moonraker? Do you like Moonraker?” Jules smiled curiously, but Natasha quickly turned a bit annoyed.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Yeah, why? Will you also tell me that it is crap and that others are better?” The redhead raised an eyebrow.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“No, I like it too. Besides to 'The spy who loved me'.” Jules shrugged and settled back to keep watching the movie, not realizing that the russian's gaze was still on her. “I didn't know you liked James Bond movies, guess it's something between spies...”
ㅤㅤㅤ
 “Kinda.” Natasha's serious face softened, perhaps she was too tough at times to let anyone else into her life. Yelena did it since they were kids, but Clint had given her the chance to be friends, something impossible for her.
ㅤㅤㅤ
When she joined the Avengers, her heart opened up a little more to that complex 'family'. But after that, she hadn't allowed herself to love or accept anyone else.
ㅤㅤㅤ
‘You're not a sportsman, Mr. Bond. Why did you break up the encounter with my pet python?’
‘Because I discovered he had a crush on me.’
‘Moonraker 1 on preset launch program...’
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I like how your hair looks on you.” The redhead said without further ado, almost like a whisper. She remembered the time where Jules and Y/N had been locked up, how guilt devoured painfully her all those weeks.
Natasha had broken many hearts in her life, but she had never been so sorry for one of them before.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Yeah, imagine if I were bald!” Jules teased.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“No, I mean it. The blonde…”  She swallowed, leaving a small door open in that gesture. And Jules took it, putting the film aside for a moment to watch Nat. ㅤㅤㅤ “Thank you.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Green and light brown met. Again, this one looks different.
It wasn't at a Stark party where flirting was normal, or somewhere in hiding to make out and then pretend nothing happened.
This was sharing.
ㅤㅤㅤ “What's that? jam?” Jules took that little jar and spoon from Nat’s hand, taking a good taste of that delicious jelly or whatever she thought it was. It was so salty, clearly it wasn't jam, Jules made a disgusted face and dropped the jar in the trash.  “Natasha, what the fuck?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Hey!” Nat complained, looking at the trash can.  “That’s a good caviar!”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Jeez, couldn't you buy some chips or something?” She tried to wipe the taste from her mouth and wrinkled her nose. “Ugh…”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“No, because I thought I was going to watch my fucking movie alone. Eating my caviar.” Natasha huffed. “And don't pretend, you know it didn't taste so bad.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Y/N always buy chips.” Jules whispered mischievously, noticing how Nat turned to see her somewhat interested in that information. “And I don't think she'll come back, right?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Natasha smirked. “I don't think so.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Jules chuckled and got up to grab some chips from Y/N's cabinet. She tossed one to Nat who quickly caught it. Both were lost in the movie for a while until one of the two broke the silence.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Nat whispered. “I know we haven't talked much since you… you know.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Since I called you heartless bitch?”  The blonde muttered as she ate some nachos.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Nat smiled a little amused.  “In fact you called me ‘The bitch with a selective heart’.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Oh, yeah, I remember.” Jules smiled proudly, taking a sip of the beer.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“You and I were never able to talk about everything that happened, Julia.” The spy knew the effect it had when she called her by that name.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“One, don’t call me Julia. Two, kind of hard when you spend time locked in a rock and then run around hiding from some governments.” The brown-eyed woman teased but never took her eyes off the tv.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“You loved me.” Nat finally said, swallowing, saying it out loud was very different. “That night you said that you loved me.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“It's in the past.” Jules avoided looking at her, opening another bag of chips.
ㅤㅤㅤ
The russian tilted her head.  “Is it?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“What do you want me to say, Natasha?” Jules snapped, staring at her now. “That I HAD feelings for you? That I cried like a fucking teenager and that turns my stomach just remembering it? Want me to say that I fall in love with you?  That I loved you?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Jules let out a sad giggle.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Yeah, I did. I never felt so humiliated when you slept with another agent after that.” Jules stared into Natasha's green eyes, losing herself in them but not in the same way as before.  “and every time I remember… Every time I remember what I told you, and how you humiliated me for that, makes me want to hit myself so bad.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I’m sorry.” Natasha genuinely apologized, feeling so much guilt inside. She didn't understand what was the desire to cry that she felt lately, a loneliness that she appreciated before and now drowned her. “I know I was harsh…”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“That wasn’t being harsh, that was being an asshole. Punishing me in front of my teammates to make a point.” Jules swallowed, feeling the bitterness.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I wasn't ready. I was taught that love is for children.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
The blonde sighed and shook her head, completely defeated.  “Well, there's no point in debating that anymore, is there, honey?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Those words made Nat swallow, what was that feeling of sadness? Rejection perhaps?
ㅤㅤㅤ
“We are no longer the same.” Jules drank some beer before keep going, licking her lips. “We're two... ex-agents on the run. Besides that now I am a freak with powers that I still don't know, and I don't know how to control.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Nat watched her with tenderness and perhaps some concern. “You’re not a freak.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Anyway...” Jules sighed. “At least I can say that I fell in love once. And with the amazing ‘Black Widow’, at least I won't be the only one.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
The girl smiled and brought her beer closer to clink it against Nat's.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I don't feel very amazing right now.” Natasha bit her bottom lip.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Jules saw a certain sadness in those green eyes, knew instantly what she meant.  “It's not your fault. We'll go get Yelena and everybody, soon.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
She took the spy's hand and squeezed it. ㅤㅤㅤ
“We just have to wait to get everything, the Quinjet and... we can go, I know.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
They both smiled tenderly, it was time to support each other.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Why did you stop loving me?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Jules dropped her head back on the sofa, here we go again. “There's no point in talking about it, Romanoff.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Maybe I do want to talk about it now.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Oh, now is a good time to talk about it?” Jules perhaps said something sarcastic and harsh, but hearing herself that way made her feel bad, she sighed and tried to calm down.  “It's pointless now, Nat.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Why not?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Because there's no point in loving someone who can't love you.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Because I'm a heartless bitch, right?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“No, because I'm not enough for you!” Jules exploded and then got up from the couch. “I am not enough and I never will be, you told me that. And I don't understand why you make me relive it now! Again!”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Natasha looked at her worriedly, noticing the girl's eyes fill with tears.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I'm fine, trying to move on. Maybe one day I'll meet a pretty girl, I don't know, who loves me as I am and for what I am. And I will stop being in love with an impossible crush like you.” She inhaled deeply trying not to cry this time. “We can be friends.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Natasha frowned and stood up to face her.  “I don't want that.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Okay, teammates at least.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Nat was a little nervous for not knowing how to express herself.  “No, I don’t mean that. I mean, I want to be something else.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Jules frowned, trying to see the catch.  “Why now?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Why not?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Is it because I'm your only option since we're running away?” ㅤㅤㅤ
Natasha chuckled wryly.  “Do you think that would stop me? I lived as a spy, I had many lives before I was Natasha Romanoff."
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Oh cool, the woman of many lives.” Jules rolled her eyes.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“You've been spellbound with me for months, looking for an opportunity. You have it now, why don't you want it?” Nat couldn't understand what had changed in Jules’s heart this time.  “Why don’t you want me?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Because I'm better than this.” Jules said those words as if trying to believe it for the first time in her life.  “I'm better than ‘something to settle for and that's it’.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“But I like you.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
She sighed. “I know, Nat, we fucked many times.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“No, you moron.” Nat smiled and shook her head. “I think I'm falling in love with you, for a long time.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
"And I don't know how to do it, I was never in love. I've always been in control of myself and my feelings, and now… I don't know how to do it when you're here."
ㅤㅤㅤ
Those words made Natasha sigh deeply, finally releasing one of the most powerful sentences of her life. And it felt good, pretty good. Finally.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ Unlike Jules, who looked like a huge bucket of cold water had been dropped on her. Completely shocked.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Oh no.” The blonde mumbled. “Really?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Aren't you happy with that? I thought you would be.” Natasha frowned in amusement, stretching out her hand to take the girl's and they both sat down on the sofa again, sharing the blanket.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I know, it's just… I-I never thought that would happen.” Jules swallowed, feeling her heart start beating faster than ever. “What are we going to do?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“We can go slow too.” Natasha offered, trying to look sure and confident, but inside her an endless number of flying things stirring anxiously. It felt so strange and charming for the first time.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“We can watch the movie.” Jules said barely, with a small smile on her lips and a special sparkle in her eyes.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“We can do that.” Nat smiled one more time.
ㅤㅤㅤ
They both stayed together, watching the movie. Without realizing it, Jules laid her head on the redhead's shoulder and everything felt good, for both of them.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Both hearts beat fast, this time not because of sex but because of the closeness. And without realizing it, around that place some beautiful daisies grew quickly, under the moonlight. Something magic.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Tumblr media
ㅤㅤㅤ
But unlike the other two, going slow was not the idea at all. Since that night, Wanda and Y/N hadn’t separated again.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Of course, although Y/N spent a lot of time in Wanda's trailer, sometimes Jules kicked her out so she could rest one night on her own bed.
After sharing a delicious stew and a last dinner in that place they considered their home for a while, they were ready to move on with their plans.
ㅤㅤㅤ
In the distance, over the mountains, one of the most beautiful northern lights could be seen. An incredibly unique event.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“What do we have?” Nat asked as she drank some of her beer, the four of them were around a nice bonfire under the moonlight.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Underwater prison, prisoners have no contact with the outside world, and they never return to it.” Y/N stroked the bridge of her nose.  “I spoke with a former S.H.I.E.L.D. The place is guarded by US Marshasls. It's not impossible but not easy either.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“That place is for maniacs, it's a place for…” Natasha seemed quite worried.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Criminals.” Wanda finished the sentence, looking at the fire. The reflection from the campfire making her eyes look even more beautiful.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Our source said that Clint and Ant-dude made a deal, as long as they both retire.” Jules took a sip of the beer.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Natasha nodded, at least Clint was safe. He had a family, he couldn't lose everything.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Steve will join us in Dublin.” Nat watched the three of them, handing them new long range earpieces. “You'll take out the Marshall's while we entertain Ross with a show of 'Rogers gives himself up'.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“And then?” Wanda asked what everyone was thinking at that moment. “After that, what are we going to do?
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Flee, possibly continue to live as nomads.” Y/N grimaced, pushing some wood towards the fire.  “They will come back to look for us, maybe more than before.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“So…” Jules sighed and raised her beer, toasting. “Let's get them out of there.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“To them.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
"To family."
ㅤㅤㅤ
They all toasted their friends and enjoyed that drink of beer. It was their last night there, and they had to be strong because the next day, everything was going to change. Forever.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Tumblr media
And things changed, quite a lot. Together with Steve, they all managed to get all their friends out of the Raft alive.
ㅤㅤㅤ
They began to live as nomads, from one place to another without finding a home. By carrying out the missions and taking care of things that the governments didn't do, they took justice into their own hands.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Because even though S.H.I.E.L.D fell and the Avengers were done, it didn't mean the cause was lost.
Things with Wanda improved a lot, although sometimes being together was difficult when you were hiding. Romantic getaways are rare, but at least they were together.
ㅤㅤㅤ
For example, the time they visited Rome momentarily, they took the opportunity to escape together.
Wanda took advantage of every moment to make Y/N fall in love again, even though Y/N was afraid. And Y/N took advantage to make each moment unique. Also that sex was so much more interesting when you are one of the most wanted women in the world.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N was controlling her powers so much better, understanding them more instead of repressing them. Wanda taught her a lot about it, reminding that fear was only going to make everything worse.
ㅤㅤㅤ When the day was sunny, she felt an enormous peace and a warmth that filled her with vigor.
When the day was rainy, she would rejoiced into the comfort and happiness. Feeling how the rain wrapped her in a fresh embrace, renewing her.
When there was a storm, she felt her blood pumping hard and her heart pounding fast. Feeling this unique adrenaline rush, Y/N felt complete and powerful. Lightning streaking across the sky, thunder making the earth tremble.
ㅤㅤㅤ
A wide smile formed on her lips. She felt complete.
ㅤㅤㅤ
And Wanda felt enormous happiness to see Y/N accept and understand herself.
Since she left Y/N that time, Wanda hadn't been the same, but now that they given themselves a chance together, Wanda felt like she was living again. A new opportunity that she wasn’t going to waste, ever again.
And they all saw it, they all saw again how in love they were. Not just Y/N this time, both.
Until one night, everything drastically changed. New York had been attacked again, and Earth just lost her best defenders.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Wanda and Y/N were on a little romantic getaway on Scotland when they found out about this, while Natasha, Steve, Jules, and Sam watched the whole thing on tv.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Without hesitation, they all jumped into the quinjet as fast as they could to head to the Compound, where they were greeted by James Rhodes and Bruce Banner.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“The world's on fire.” Those were the exact words of Y/N when she saw the videos on the screens, over and over again. The attack on New York, the day Tony and Spider-man were gone.
Thanos's ships were outside the stratosphere awaiting orders.
ㅤㅤㅤ
She reached for Wanda's hand to intertwine their fingers, sharing the same look of concern. This could be the end of everything, but they would be together until the end. ㅤㅤㅤ
“We can do this.” Wanda whispered and leaned her head on Y/N's shoulder, as they waited for the Quinjet to land in wakanda. If a battle did take place, it would be ideal to do it where they  the local advantage.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“We can do this.” Y/N nodded, taking a deep breath.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I love you, detka... This is forever.” ㅤㅤㅤ
“I love you, Wands.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
"When we get back… do you think…" Wanda bit her lower lip, a little nervous. “Do you think we could do…?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N frowned blankly. “What?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Marry me.”
ㅤㅤㅤ That left Y/N speechless, she tried to search Wanda's gaze for some sign that it was a joke or that it was just part of the despair of the moment, but she could only see love on her girlfriend's look. Just that, just love. Right time, the right place.
ㅤㅤㅤ “Wands…”
ㅤㅤㅤ "Please, detka." Wanda sighed, wishing with all her heart that Y/N would say yes. "Marry me."
ㅤㅤㅤ
The sokovian took her girlfriend's hand. “This time is different… Y/N, I can't see a life without you. Let's get married."
ㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N just stays silent for a moment, looking at her. And a smile begins to slowly appear on her lips.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Yeah.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Wanda smiled feeling the tears forming in her eyes. "Is it a yes?"
ㅤㅤㅤ
“It’s a hell yeah! Let's get married, girl.”
ㅤㅤㅤ They both giggled and hugged each other tightly, before sealing that pact with a deep, passionate and needy kiss of love. Now all they need to do was survive the great war. ㅤㅤㅤ
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, in the control cabin of the quinjet were those two women about to land in Wakanda, they only needed the coordinates that Steve was giving them and they would go through the shield that protected that sacred place. ㅤㅤㅤ
“Always remember we’re burned for better. I vowed I would always be yours… If we survived the Great War.” Jules sang to herself, remembering that beautiful song.
ㅤㅤㅤ Nat cocked her head to look at her with tenderness.  “Jules?”
ㅤㅤㅤ “Yeah?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Of endless words that she wanted to say, after being together for some time, the spy just tried her best:  “You’re a good co-pilot.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Jules chuckled, pressing a few buttons on the panel.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Thanks, I worked my ass off on the S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy just to hear that.” The blonde joked, while making sure everything was alright. She turned to see Nat for a moment. “You okay?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“t's funny...” Nat cleared her throat. “My whole life, I didn't think I had any family. Turns out I got two, so... one of them's a bit of a mess right now.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“It'll all work out, Nat.”  Jules sighed and reached out to squeeze her hand gently. “We will do it together.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Smiling and nodding solemnly, Natasha trusted her girl's words.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Of course they hadn't given her any official name to this ‘thing’ yet, not even a relationship, they hadn't even told each other how much they loved each other.  But everyone knew it, even Yelena who saw them from afar and couldn't help but say "ew", making everyone laugh. But of course, inside was so happy for her big sister.
ㅤㅤㅤ
And although they tried to be brave, they gave everything of themselves in that battle. They fought against huge hordes of aliens, a genetically engineered race of extraterrestrial creatures, so awful and agressive.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“This is it, right?” Jules said feeling like she was out of breath when she saw how those creatures charged against them.  “The great war.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Whatever happens, please, stay with me.” Y/N whispered, looking at Natasha, Yelena and Jules. They gave themselves the strength to start with this. Wanda was taking care that Vision was safe, that the universe was safe depended on. Although all she could think about was y/n, hoping she was safe.
ㅤㅤㅤ
There wasn't much to say other than that it was one of the toughest battles of their lives. All the defenders of that Earth, fighting to make it survive another day.
Y/N took advantage of her powers to kill all the aliens she could, of course not too much because could get out of control and hurt everybody. She rose up, flying and smashed as many as she could with lightning and hurricanes. Fury and storm.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Jules did the same although she still tried her best being a simple agent with weapons and shield making a wonderful team with Natasha.
She hadn't discovered her abilities yet, but one day, she would.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Fall back! Fall back, now!” Y/N exclaimed trying to make the Wakandans in front of her move away, watching as those huge bladed wheel-like were heading towards her and the Wakandans. “Guys, we got a situation here. I can’t stop-”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“On my way.” Wanda spoke through the earpiece and got ready to go to help her, when something hit her with enormous strength. ㅤㅤㅤ
“She'll die alone.” Proxima threatened her, hitting Wanda with the grip of the sword hard enough to leave the sokovian crawling on the ground. "As will you."
ㅤㅤㅤ
“She's not alone.” Natasha's sassy voice made Proxima turn to look at her. Natasha was on one side and Yelena on the other, raising her Widow's batons, ready to start the battle.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Tumblr media
Everything seemed to go on their side, the battle was favorable for the Avengers until a portal opened, letting that fearsome villain through.
And as they could, each one of them faced the mad titan in the way they could to prevent him from reaching Wanda and Vision. And each one of them was defeated, since he wore the gauntlet.
Steve. Bucky. Sam. T'Challa. The Hulk. Each and every one of them fell.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N stepped in the way and caused one of the most powerful thunders to strike on him, but the titan used the reality stone to prevent her from doing it again. Y/N was punched badly, her nose was broken and blood dripped from it and her lips.
ㅤㅤㅤ
She tried again but Thanos threw her against some rocks.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Jules tried to get in the way too, gritting teeth and trying her best, drawing a strength that she didn't know where it came from, she managed to make the earth shake, huge roots come out of the ground and catch him. But the Titan was stronger than that. He broke free and got rid of her too, as well as Yelena and Natasha.
They all fell and when he got the gem, that terrifying snap made everything change.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Where'd he go?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Steve?” Bucky muttered before falling apart and turning to ashes. Desperate, everyone looked around them to see if their friends were okay.
ㅤㅤ
“Wanda?” Y/N murmured and ran towards her beloved, who was on the ground crying.  “My love, come on.”
ㅤㅤ
She knelt down beside the sokovian to help her up, but seconds after taking Wanda’s hand, it began to disappear. “Wanda, no,no, no, no.”
ㅤㅤ
Wanda looked up to see the love of her life one more time, those huge green eyes full of pain, sadness and love saw looked at her for the last time. “I love you, detka.”
ㅤㅤ And she disappeared, just like that, in her arms. Y/N she burst into tears, shocked, terrified to see how the love of her life left her forever.
Y/N searched around as if trying to find her but everything was ashes, just ashes, and anguish everywhere. Crying impossible to contain, uncertainty and pain.
ㅤㅤ “Nat?” Jules whimpered reaching out her hand to hold Natasha's, who looked at her with a tender look. Natasha Romanoff turned to ashes along with everyone else.  “NATASHA!”  she yelled.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Sestra?! SESTRA, WHERE ARE YOU?” Yelena also screamed through the forest, looking for the redhead, trying that whistle but never received an answer.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
They got up to help those who were left, completely devastated by the loss.
Today the universe lost its greatest protectors, and half of its population.
Tumblr media
Sighing heavily, Y/N stared at the screen once the meeting ended. She had been in contact with the remaining Avengers, who were at least trying to keep this world upright.
Steve was on an important mission, so it was their turn to take care of the Compound.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Where are you?” Y/N asked Rhodey, who had stayed on the line after everyone hung up.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Mexico.” Rhodes sighed tiredly.  “The Federales found a room full of bodies… Looks like a bunch of cartel guys, never even had a chance to get their guns off.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
The inhuman leaned back in her chair, exhausted. “It's probably a rival gang.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Except it isn't.” Rhodes shook his head, knowing that Y/N would have a hard time accepting the truth but she had to.  “It's definitely Julia.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N swallowed, feeling her eyes fill with tears but she couldn't show weakness.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“What she's done here... Y/N, what she's been doing for the last few years…” Rhodey felt enormous sadness for them, but Y/N had to understand what Jules had become. “She calls herself an 'eco-terrorist'. I mean, the scene that she left…” ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Call me when you have more information and please…” Y/N was blunt. “Do not engage, just call me. I'm the only one who can stop her.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Rhodey nodded and his hologram disappeared. Y/N breathed shakily, tried to stay calm. A cool breeze made the treetops move slightly.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Easy, today's forecast does not say that there will be storms.” Her friend's hoarse voice brought her back to reality, Yelena approached her with two bowls of mac & cheese.
Sadness was reflected in those gloomy eyes, but the widow kept standing.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Eat, please.” The blonde told her with that thick accent, putting the bowl in front of her and sitting next to Y/N, putting some hot sauce on hers.  “That is my favorite.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Thank you.” Y/N sniffled.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Are you okay, Y/N/N?”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“I'm just worried about her.” Y/N swallowed and wiped the tears from her eyes. “She's taking a rocky path to come back from.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Yelena sighed and took her hand, trying to support her in this. They had spent years side by side, trying to get over the loss and the pain. “You know it could have been me, If it weren't for you, I would be with her.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“But you didn’t.” ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"I decided to go back, she decided to stay."
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N felt hurt by Jules, but above all, she felt her absence. Y/N understood her more than anyone, but it hurts. “I feel like I have failed her.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“She lost everything, Y/N/N.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“But not us.” Y/N cleared her throat, eating some mac and cheese.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Touché. That was true.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“And we'll let her know she won't lose us when she decides to come back.” The widow sighed, changing the subject to a less sad and more interesting one. For example: what was it like to receive e-mails from a raccoon?
You walked with Wanda, your older sister. The two of you were walking through Stark Tower as Tony had called you all for a meeting. You weren't quite sure why the meeting had even been called in the first place. It shouldn't have been to go over a mission as there weren't any new ones yet. So you were just a tad curious about this meeting and what was going to be discussed. Upon arriving into the room you noticed a man standing near Tony. He was someone you had never seen before in the Tower, so you were curious as to who the man was.
His hair was mostly grey, but that was something you didn't mind so much. His eyes were a beautiful shade of blue, something you had taken notice of quickly. You couldn't help the smirk that washed onto your lips as you continued to stare at Everett Ross. But your staring was cut short when the rest of the team had arrived into the room you had been sitting in. Tony walked to the front, his eyes scanning everyone in the room.
"Thank you all for coming, this is Agent Everett Ross. He is here to discuss something with us." Tony explained to the team. He moved to the side sitting down near Natasha while Everett Ross walked to the front of the room. Now that you knew his name your interest in him had spiked slightly.
"Hello, thank you Mr. Stark for calling everyone here." Ross spoke, briefly looking over at Tony.
"No problem." Tony mumbled.
It was clear to you that Tony would rather be anywhere but here. And honestly you had to agree with him. However the only reason you were staying for the most part was because she wanted to truly see for yourself what Everett Ross had to say to everyone. The man stood at the center of the room, all eyes were on him. He wasn't nervous so much, having to talk in front of people had become a regular part of his job. But the second he looked at you, something shifted and it was almost enough to make him nervous.
"Good afternoon everyone. I'm here on behalf of the United Nations to discuss legal documents known as the Accords." Ross began to explain as he placed his hand down on the document and slid it towards Steve Rogers who was closest to him.
You started to wonder why all of a sudden something like this was coming about, had they done something wrong as the Avengers? You knew what had happened in Sokovia, but you weren't familiar with much else. And as for the mission you and the others had been on, nothing damaging had happened, so what was the need. You leaned forward in your chair looking at the documents as Steve opened it to at least read the first few pages if that.
"What is this about?" You asked, your eyes landing back on Ross who in turn looked at you. It was clear that he had been expecting that question but he didn't expect it to be asked by you.
Ross released a puff of air, briefly looking back at Tony who was staring at his team. "The United Nations would like to have better supervision over your team, they would like to decide the places where you go and make sure that there isn't much damage to follow."
You seemed to wince at the words that fell from his mouth. Did the people really not trust any of you enough to protect them? Just because you had powers didn't mean that you were willing to hand everything over and let them dictate where you would go. And you knew that most of the team seemed to feel the same about it. Tony stands up from his chair and walks towards Ross patting his back.
"Great. Thanks for stopping by, we'll look it over and discuss everything." Tony paused, and the called out your name. You gave the man your full attention, pulling your eyes away from the documents. "Will you escort Ross out?" Tony questioned you.
"Sure." Ross looked at you as your response left your lips. You stand up from your chair, briefly squeezing your sister's shoulder before walking towards the glass doors. "You coming or not Agent Ross?" You questioned.
He shook his hand with Tony and walked around, however he turned back around to look at them. "I personally don't think it's worth it to sign these, but just know that I'll be coming back to check in every once in a while regardless of if you sign the papers."
You opened the glass door and held onto it as Ross passed you by. Eventually you followed behind him leading him to the elevator that would take you down to the bottom of Stark Tower where Ross' car had been waiting for him. Once the two of you made it into the elevator you pressed the lobby button. The first few seconds seemed to be as quiet as it could be, and you didn't like that.
"Do you like your job, Agent Ross?" You questioned, breaking the silence that had been evident in the elevator. He turned his head slightly to look at you but you weren't keeping any eye contact with him whatsoever.
"It varies from time to time, but I don't think I would trade it for anything." Ross' answer seemed to be honest as far as you could tell. "What about you? Do you like being a hero?"
The question had thrown you off, it was something you had never been asked before. You had kind of been forced into this life of being a hero. Your older siblings had picked the wrong side, one you didn't want to be a part of and you were still trying to make amends with what had happened. You were still trying to figure out how to move on without Pietro with you and Wanda.
Sure you loved your powers and you loved that you had found people who understood you and helped you to be better than you were, but if you could've chosen something different you most likely would've. But that being said, you liked being able to save those from threats who wanted nothing but chaos and destruction.
"I think I'm still trying to figure myself out, I followed behind Wanda and Pietro because they were the only family I had left. And while I regret my actions from the past I don't regret how I got here and the fact that I can help save people who can't protect themselves, even if they might see me as a monster."
Your answer was the most honest it had been, and Ross was the first person you had truly shared that with. Your sister didn't know the extent of the things that you battled considering that she had still by learning to move on without Pietro. Your words continued to fly around Ross' head as the elevator doors opened. He stepped out and you held the doors open so they wouldn't close.
"Not everyone will see you as a monster, you have to believe that." Ross' voice was soft as he spoke those words.
"I know, but some will and I can't change their mind no matter what I try to do to convince them otherwise." You paused, looking at the floor for only a brief moment before your eyes found their way back to Ross. "I should get back to voice my opinion about the documents even though I'm sure they know where I stand."
"Have a good day." Ross sends you a nod and you. pressed the up button. You were left alone with your thoughts, but the one thing that kept running through your mind was Ross. The way he looked, the way he talked, the way he stood, the grey hair, all of it was something you liked and you couldn't help the crush that was starting to form.
When the elevator dinged, you exited out and walked back to the room where everyone was still sitting, but now they were discussing what Ross had left them. You didn't need to read any of the documents, your mind was already made up. You also knew where your sister would stand and you had a feeling that the others were feeling the same way.
───── ❝ ◂ ❚ ⊱ꕥ⊰ ❚ ▸ ❞ ─────
In the following weeks since Tony and Steve had turned down the documents, not agreeing to sign them but agreeing to different terms instead. Ross had come back a few days later to talk to everyone, get to know them, see what everyone was like. You had enjoyed the time you had been spending with Ross even if you weren't sure how it would end. Whenever he would arrive there you were always right there to greet him.
Ross didn't understand it, he didn't understand why you were always trying to talk to him. Your crush was becoming stronger the more he showed up and the more you tried to spend time with him. Currently it had been a few days since Ross had stopped at Stark Tower to see everyone, he was currently looking for you. Ross had been trying his hardest to avoid you, to stop thinking about you and how clingy you had gotten to him.
No matter what he did you would not leave his mind, even when he wouldn't stop by Stark Tower. You were currently in the pool room swimming laps. Compared to where you had been a year ago things were looking up for you including getting better at swimming. It became a side hobby for you when you needed to clear your mind of thoughts. It worked because you had to focus on swimming rather than what truly plagued your mind.
When you made it to the one end of the pull you pushed off the wall and swam further underneath the water. You stayed under, until you eventually came to the center of the pool. From there you swam to the bottom of the pool and stayed there the best you could. Ross had pulled the door open as that's where he had been told you would most likely be. When you opened your eyes you looked through the water to see a blur of a figure.
Adjusting yourself in the water you pushed off the ground level of the pull towards the surface. When your head popped up from the water there stood Everett Ross, the man of the hour who had been avoiding you for the last several days. He had his hands crossed on his chest as he continued to stare down. You lifted your hands moving them through your wet locks. Then you moved over to the ladder climbing up it and walking over to the table.
"If you're just going to avoid me some more I don't want to hear whatever is going to come out of your mouth." You snapped, though it wasn't in much of an angry tone, rather an annoyed tone. Something Ross had picked up as he turned back around to look at you. He watched from the edge of the pool as you eventually grabbed your water bottle and took a gulp of it.
"I'm not here to avoid you," his voice was soft, probably the softest it had been since you had meant him all those weeks ago.
"Then why are you here, if you don't want to avoid me?" You moved over to the edge of the pool and sat down, throwing your legs back in it. If you needed to make an escape from the conversation you were going to do it by jumping into the pool. Everett took his shoes off and rolled his pants off and then sat down next to you. Your eyes are on him watching the way he holds himself together.
"I wanted to apologize for the way I've been treating you. You don't deserve that, especially from me." You were swooning by the apology, but only on the inside, on the outside you still looked as stern as ever.
"You're right, I don't. But here we are." You regretted saying that after it left your lips. You could see the somewhat hurt expression on Everett's face but he quickly replaced it with a hopeful one.
"I took some time to think about what I wanted, and what I needed and I thought I needed to be away from you. I thought we'd both be better if I put the distance between us. But I can't lie about the things that I feel for you. We've only known each other for weeks, and I guess in a way I'm scared. My last relationship wasn't the greatest and I really don't want to mess anything up with you because I do like you."
"What exactly are you saying then, other than the fact that you like me?" Your stern look had been replaced with a soft one. You needed to hear the words come from his mouth.
"If you'll let me, I'd like to start dating. I have a few date ideas that I think you'll like. I know that I want this and I know you do too." He was right, you did want it. You wanted so badly to be in a relationship with him.
"Okay. But you have to do something for me first." There was a mischievous look on your face as you continued to stare at Everett. He could read the look on your face but didn't know what you had in store for him.
"What is it?" Everett questioned you.
You leaned forward lifting your hands, and with all your strength you pushed him into the pool. He was submerged into the water, clothes becoming wet when they came in contact with the water. You couldn't help but laugh, eventually you jumped in after him and swam over to him wrapping your arms around his torso.
"Thank you." You whispered, as you placed your head on his chest. Everett leaned down and placed a kiss on top of your wet hair, you could feel the smile that was on his lips as he held onto you.
───── ❝ ◂ ❚ ⊱ꕥ⊰ ❚ ▸ ❞ ─────
You and Everett had been keeping your relationship a secret mostly because you didn't know how Wanda would react if you were dating someone, let alone someone who was half your age. But he made you happy and you made him happy. In the months since you had started dating Everett, he was over at Stark Tower a lot more. And the team was starting to pick up on it including Wanda. Currently you were in your room, Everett was holding onto your sleeping form.
A movie was on but it had long been forgotten, you had your legs entwined with Everett and your arm wrapped around his torso, while your head rested on his chest. He had his arms wrapped around you so he could hold you close to him. Everything was perfect and exactly where you needed it to be. Where you had always wanted to be. You felt safe and sound in the arms of the man you loved.
The door to your room started to open, and panic consumed Everett as he shook you awake. You groaned, not wanting to wake up from your sleep.
"I think your sister's coming into your room." Everett's words ran through your ears and it caused your eyes to pop open. But it was already too late for the both of you. The door was wide open and you could see the pure shock and confusion resting on Wanda's face. Eventually it was replaced with angry which wasn't a good sign.
"Wanda, I can explain. Please, let me explain." You climbed out of your bed trying to hold your sister back.
"What are you doing here? She's my little sister!" Wanda's words ran through your ears, she pushed you off herself and tried to get over to Ross who had now climbed out of the bed.
"Wanda, please stop. Let's talk about this." You tried to grab a hold of your sister while Everett talked to her.
"Wanda, please." You cried out, your voice cracking slightly. She looked back at you, hearing the sound in your voice. She had only heard it a handful of times so hearing it now was throwing her completely off.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Wanda asks as she walks over to you.
"Because I knew you would react this way. You and Pietro have always been so protective over me, and I get it but I can handle myself too you know." You felt like you were going to break down and cry, but you were standing your ground in front of your sister. You needed to do that much.
"I'm sorry. You're the only family I have left."
"I know that, but I promise you that Everett isn't going to hurt me. He's the first one to understand me other than you." You were staring at your sister as she looked at you and then at Ross who was waiting to move over to you and comfort you. Wanda sighed heavily, nodding her head to Ross. He took that as a sign and quickly made his way over to you wrapping his arms around your shoulders.
"I mean this when I say it Wanda, I don't ever plan to hurt your sister. I love her, and I would never betray that love for anything."
His words rocked you to the core, Everett Ross had just admitted to loving you. The smile that fell onto your lips was enough conformation to Wanda that you felt the same way. She could see it in your eyes as well. The way that lit up, and now that she thought about it there had been a change in you since the first time you had met Everett.
"Okay, but if you hurt my sister's feelings in any way shape or form, I'm coming for you Ross."
"Understood, but I don't plan to." You smiled and turned towards Everett, placing your lips on him and kissing him softly.
Sisters
Summary: [JAWS AU] Simply a little addendum I have around Jaws meeting Yelena (timeline wise, also known as the Black Widow Alternate). The brain's whirring right now aight- (first arc)
Pairing(s): Natasha Romanoff x Mutant!TigerShark!Reader, Mutant!TigerShark!Reader x Yelena Belova (platonic)
[JAWS AU Masterlist]
Warning(s): none that I can think of, maybe a language warning? Yeah we'll put that just in case
Note(s): There isn't any real dialogue here since this is more of my stream of consciousness to fill in some timeline details. Not really proofread cuz I'm really just talkin through text to speech and skimming for spelling errors💀. Hopefully it makes sense/is coherent at least, but since I was thinkin about this stuff, I’ll just add it to my list of dissertations o7
Word Count: more than 700, I know that much
*squints* I give NO ONE permission to repost or translate my work. Make your own shit
Tumblr media
Alright lets' go Black Widow Alternate!
(That really just means I'm talkin about how the events of Black Widow go down in the JAWS AU....at least the pertinent details. i.e What happens when we deviate from canon blah blah blah)
Because Civil War doesn't happen in the JAWS AU, The Avengers are still together as a team and are able to take down the Red Room in the original way Yelena intended (“I kept checking the news, expecting to see Captain America bringing down the Red Room” but that actually happens here). This still serves as Natasha and Yelena's reunion as they get in contact with each other via the pictures Yelena sent.
Because Natasha isn't on the run (again, no CW = no accords...atm, and no Ross), she's not really stressed in that way. Natasha more so has to grapple with her own guilt at leaving her sister behind to go through life in the Red Room without her to look after her and even not trying hard enough to look for Yelena after getting out.
Natasha tried not to look back after Budapest, remember now.
Natasha tries to deflect and justify this in her own mind by trying to detach herself and saying that she and Yelena were never really sisters, just like how they were never really a part of a family with Melina and Alexei.
It was just a mission.
Natasha continues trying to push the narrative that her years in Ohio are in her past and that she couldn't wait to put them behind her to forget them when she got out. Natasha doesn't actually believe any of this. Those years spent with Yelena, Melina, and Alexei were very real to Natasha and she looks back on those times with fondness and regret they couldn't have lasted longer. However, Natasha is of the school of thought that if you say something enough times, maybe you'll start to believe it. Maybe.
Yelena immediately calls bullshit on Natasha's "I'm allergic to you" attitude, but it doesn't make Natasha's attempts hurt any less. To be so close again but treated like something other. Natasha's continued trying to push her out of her life is what gets to Yelena, that paired with seeing the people in Natasha's "present" makes Yelena self-conscious in ways that make her uncomfortable and that she usually deflects with humor and sarcasm.
It's Jaws that continues to reach out to Yelena. Not in the traditional sense, but they've taken to including Yelena and going out of their comfort zone to get to know Yelena during the red room mission (very similar scene to the Yelena and Nat beer scene talking about their lives). Yelena was protective and just a bit teasing when she found out that Jaws was Natasha's partner for sure. The ice breaker between Jaws and Yelena boiled down to Yelena doing a trick shot off of Jaws' teeth into a vodka bottle....with a bullet.
Whether or not Yelena thought she would kill Jaws by shooting them in the mouth is up for discussion...
Part of Jaws' interest in Yelena is because she is in some way part of Natasha's life, and even they can tell that Yelena is important to her without a doubt. The other part of Jaws cultivates this relationship with Yelena because she passes the vibe check, and not once has she referred to Jaws as a freak or a monster, which is what usually happens when people meet Jaws for the first time. Yelena couldn't care less about it. Wildly intrigued for both the right and the wrong reasons, but still-
Natasha seeing her "past" and "present" coexisting together pushes her to face her own feelings of guilt and even inadequacy head on (thinking of the " It was real to me too" scene) to repair and rebuild her bond with her little sister. Natasha also apologizes for not looking for her after she escaped the Red Room and trying to reduce her time with Yelena to a bad memory she kept trying to forget.
Yelena's focus afterward is freeing the remaining widows, of which she knows she can ask for her sisters and the avengers help. She is undecided whether or not she wants to officially become an avenger, but it is not off the table. Yelena and Jaws have become close over the course of the red room mission and even after, which makes Natasha very happy.
Rescuing Ross | Marvel Headcanon
‼️Contains major spoilers for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever‼️
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This goes with my ‘Ross catching feeling’s for Tony’s sister’ headcanon—-link to my full Marvel Masterlist
Pairing: Everett Ross x Stark!reader (Tony’s sister)
Warning: contains major spoilers for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, do not continue if you have not seen it/ want to be spoiled.
Content warnings: profanity, angst, fluff at the end. Mentions of Tony & Nat’s death and the battles against Thanos.
Being Tony Stark’s sister (an avenger) who is engaged to Everett Ross & rescuing him from detainment would look like:
After meeting Ross in 2016 and becoming a couple following events of their visit Wakanda and the blip, you and Everett were coming up on your eight year anniversary with one year of being engaged. So much had happened that resulted in Everett delaying a proposal to you—most notably the death of your brother, Tony, and your good friend Natasha Romanoff—and felt that you two were at a good point in your relationship that there was no need for pressure on marriage. However, when Ev did propose you tackled him to the ground with a big ‘yes!’ & a kiss to the lips.
Everett had worries for his first marriage did not work out and therefore feared it would be the same for the two of you. But after years and sticking by one another during the hardships of half the population being gone for 5 years and losing loved ones, you two were stronger than ever.
So fast forward to 2024. The world is restored and you’ve come to accept the loss of Tony and Nat by moving forward as a prominent figure in getting Earth back to the way it was. Everett was with you every step of the way—although he was worried when you left to assist Sam and Bucky with the super soldier fiasco. It did not help that his ex-wife, Val who also was the Director of the CIA, was on his ass and threatened to have you arrested if things didn’t get cleaned up.
The news of T’Challa’s death brought sadness and grief to the both of you. If it wasn’t for him, Everett would have never survived the bullet wound to his spine. The two of you kept in touch after bringing him and everyone who vanished back with T’Challa sending you a condolence gift after Tony’s funeral. In the same fashion, you and Everett sent one to Shuri and Queen Ramonda. Contact with Shuri fell shortly later, but you both understood she was grieving the loss of her brother and let her know that you two were there for her if she every needed anything.
When Shuri does come to you nearly a year later asking about a scientist who developed a vibranium detector drill, you were more willing to give up the information than Everett. Technically you were not in the CIA and only a contact due to your relationship with Ross, but you understood he was risking treason if he were to say something. “Ev, they have the right to know. This is putting their people in jeopardy.”
It wasn’t too long after that Ev came to you with Shuri’s bracelet that he found at a crash site. It brought dread to you, for you feared something bad had happened and made it your mission to assist in finding her. You had made some new adjustments to Stark Industries and the tech (against the governments wishes), but was unable to locate her last signal. Ross kept you updated on his conversations with Queen Ramonda, and the fact it was possible Val was onto him. “She may have bugged the beads, Ev. You need to be careful.” “Her and I got to the site at the same time. There’s no way she knew they were there—I found them hidden under a piece of debris.”
But, like most cases, you were right. Val had bugged the beads before Ross had shown up and was aware of every conversation he had with Ramonda. You had been downtown in your lab, working on a way to find Shuri, when the news of the Queen’s death broke. Before you could even react there was a announcement from F.R.I.D.A.Y, “Forgive my interruption, Ms. Stark, but there has been an intrusion at your home.” Dread filled you, “Pull up the perimeter and indoor security footage at once.”
It is there you see the one and only Director Valentina Alegra de Fontaine standing in your kitchen and your poor fiancé looking pale faced and fearful. “Get me audio, F.R.I.D.A.Y.” Listening in, Val admits she had the beads bugged, heard every phone call, and knew you were involved. “I’ve already sent a squad out to detain Stark—the Accords may have been abolished but your girl has committed treason just as you have, Ross,” she says before pulling out handcuffs when Everett pleads to her to not do what she’s doing. Sure enough F.R.I.D.A.Y is letting you know a car with armed agents had arrived outside your building.
You managed to escape with little to no scratches on you—but the same could not be said for the agents. When you got to one of many safe houses, you finally let your emotions lose. You grieved for Ramonda, you cried for Shuri—who was now alone—and you feared for your fiancé. F.R.I.D.A.Y showed you footage of the house where you witnessed Everett cuffed and hauled into the back of a SUV.
Your hands were full with tracking the CIA’s decisions on Ev while also trying to get updates from Wakanda. The only one you managed to contact was Okoye—who took a liking to you in 2016 and fought along side you in 2018 & 2023–who told you everything that happened in the recent weeks. Okoye told you they were handling things and to not get involved. You promised and Okoye even gave her word that she’d help you find Ross once they finished with the Tolakons.
When the call does come from Okoye, you were filled with immense relief by what she tells you. That a truce was made between the two countries, Shuri made peace with Namor and has taken on the mantle of the Black Panther, and Wakanda was rebuilding itself after the attack. “I am so glad to hear you and the others are alright.” “Thank you, Y/n. It is a relief we were met with victory. Now let us save your love—Shuri has his location. I’m sending you coordinates, I will meet you there in the hour.” “Wha-wha-wait what? Are you in Virginia?” “The middle of the Atlantic Ocean to be exact.”
The answer to your question came in the form of a flying blue metal suit landing in front of you, “AH! What the hell?! Oh its you!” The alarm of threat turned into relief as a smile appeared on your face when the mask removed to reveal Okoye’s amused expression. Together you two intercept the van transferring Everett to prison with Okoye cutting down a tree to block the road. When the van comes to a stop, you pull the driver from his seat and shock him unconscious while Okoye deals with the passenger.
Instead of opening the back doors, you let Okoye have her fun and watch from the side as she throws open the doors—mask covering her identity—and could literally picture the look on Everetts face. You hold back your giggle at his sound of relief when she uncovers the mask and says, “Colonizer in chains. Now I have seen everything.”
That’s when you come around the side and meet his eyes, Everett can’t stop his grin. Hopping in the van you get his wrist and ankle cuffs off, “You know, it’s taken everything in me to not go after your ex for opening that bottle of wine we were saving for the rehearsal dinner.” “Well, darling, it looks like that wedding is gonna have to get pushed back. Again.”
Together the three of you head into the woods to where she parked the aircraft to take you three back to Wakanda. It was the safest option for you to at that moment, with being fugitives on the run. “Now I know how Cap and them felt all those years ago.” You could not tell anyone where you were, but sent word to Pepper, Rhodey, and Happy you were safe and with Everett. They were sad and Rhodey promised to find a way to get you two pardoned. “I’ll talk with Sam—see if there is something Fontaine is hiding that could help your case.” “Thank you, Rhodey. I appreciate what you’re doing greatly. I just hate I’m putting you in this position.”
It was unknown how long you and Ev would be on the run, but thankfully you two had the help of Shuri, Okoye, and the people of Wakanda by your side. For you owed them your life for everything they had done for you and Everett. “We’re lucky—you and I,” Everett said as you two watched the beautiful sunset from your balcony of the apartment Shuri had given you, “to have them as our friends.” “We are. And we will make it up to them as soon as we can. They have given us so much. I would rather meet death than not return the gratitude.” Everett presses a kiss to your forehead before one to your lips, “So would I.”
Believe In Her
Summary — Natasha Romanoff went from being your biggest headache to your baby mama, and you wouldn’t change how it happened for the world, even if it broke your heart and almost your body a couple times
Natasha Romanoff x Reader ( 2k )
Authors Note — Moved from another blog.
When you first met Natasha Romanoff, she was just an employee for Pepper Potts; the same as you. You had been envious of her tight red ringlets and easy wit. Everything you wanted was just handed to her. For months the two of you went head to head on everything. Natasha thought the drapes in Peppers office should be blue, you thought they should be red. You were quite easily the most infuriating person Natasha had met. Maybe that's why she fell for you so hard.
Those first few months of your relationship are buried deep in your memory. You hate how petty and insecure you’d been. Natasha however, loves reminding you. Even after the two of you had smoothed out your kinks and traded in being hot headed rivals for loving girlfriends, she’d get on your case about it. Natasha Romanoff let nothing go. Ever.
It had taken her years to open up to you about her past. You’re thankful for that. If you’d known her story earlier, you wouldn’t have been shy to the idea of putting a bullet in Dreykov's head by yourself. You were impulsive, irrational, led by your emotions. As much as Natasha thought your lack of clarity was cute, had she told you about her past when you’d first met, you wouldn't have lived to your twenty-sixth birthday. What Natasha had never been shy about, was wanting kids.
She’d always said she wanted four. Three was an odd number, and two wasn’t enough. On nights when you couldn’t sleep, she would pull you in by your waist and tell you about her childhood. She’d tell you the bad things, but she’d dwell on the good things. She told you all about Yelena and Melina. About how good of a mother you’d be if you were given the opportunity. She told you about how when she was sterilized, during her recovery she thought about holding an innocent baby in her arms that was half her and half somebody she loves. She told you that she wished for a daughter. A daughter with her green eyes and the hair of somebody she loves. She told you that she would’ve named her Luna. She never cried about it. She’d just smile fondly, holding back her tears as she twists your hair around her fingers.
A year before things had somehow gotten worse for Natasha and yourself, you started your journey in trying to get pregnant. Two months before the both of you fled the states and almost died (multiple times), you’d attempted your first shot at pregnancy. You wish you’d known that it was successful when her little sister held you at knifepoint in Budapest, or when you’d finally gotten your chance to hurt the man that spent his life hurting your girl. You would’ve done things differently. Natasha had already been hurt so many times, you’d never forgive yourself if this good thing had been ruined by your eagerness to end her lifelong fight. If you’d lost your baby, your heart would’ve broken in a way that wasn’t fixable. Even after falling out of the sky and being shot by mind controlled women, suffering broken bones and lacerations, you were still pregnant. There was still a baby growing inside of you; a baby that although wasn’t technically half Natasha and yourself, was already a stubborn little fighter like your partner.
You’d found out a few months after being detained by Ross. After suffering near paralyzing headaches, bouts of nausea and intense food aversions for almost an entire week with no explanation, you had reluctantly let Natasha take you to the doctors. It was a Monday, just after three in the afternoon, and you were days away from entering your sixth month of pregnancy. Your sixth month of pregnancy with a little girl that you hoped would have Natasha’s heart.
You’d been forced to tell Natasha’s family over a phone call. After nearly fainting at breakfast with the team, your doctor had advised for a temporary bedrest. Natasha, already being overprotective without the encouragement from a professional, had placed you on lockdown for the better end of your pregnancy. Only when you started contracting did she let you stand on your own, hunched over the bed and wincing with every tight squeeze in your lower back, wanting nothing to do with her or anyone else.
Just after ten in the evening your baby girl joined your earthside with a scream like her mothers. Natasha had only rolled her eyes when you’d made that comment, bending down to kiss your sweaty forehead as the both of you watched the doctors clean her up and take her stats.
Natasha had taken to motherhood like she hadn’t grown up being abused and trained to murder. She’s gentle with her. Devoted to doing everything the best way she can, even if it means that at times she’s gone almost six days without a decent block of sleep. She was so worried about keeping the stress off of your shoulders, she’d let herself feel the brunt of having a newborn baby alone. You wished that she wasn’t so headstrong, that she hadn’t waited until she broke to tell you she was scared. You hated that in adding love to your relationship, Natasha and yourself had become so disconnected.
“She’s okay.” You whispered against Natasha’s shoulder. She’d finally come to bed after getting the baby down for a nap, but at every whimper she was threatening to leave your side to calm your daughter. “I promise, baby. She’s okay.”
Natasha huffs, twisting around so that her face is buried in your chest. She ignores the smell of spit up on your top, and the dried milk that’s seeping through your bra, and just lets your warmth, and your body, and your whispers comfort her. She’s exhausted. You both are exhausted. But the both of you are also so completely in love.
“How are you so good at this?” Natasha whines. You laugh gently, combing your fingers through her knotty red hair. You don’t remember the last time either of you has had time to take a shower, and her greasy, tangled hair is enough proof of the neglect you both are feeling.
“I’m not.” You shake your head, bottom lip downturned as you wonder how Natasha had ever let herself believe that. You’ve cried yourself to sleep in her arms almost every night for the last three days. Nothing about this transition had been easy for you. “Why do you think that?”
“You’re so good with her. You make it look so easy.” She sniffles. It breaks your heart watching Natasha cry. You can count on your ten fingers how many times it’s happened, but it doesn’t get any easier. Her chest rises and falls almost too fast for you to count each shaky inhale, and with every gasp for air you’re rubbing her back, encouraging her to keep going. To finally let you in.
When she doesn't elaborate any further, only presses her head into your chest, your lips fall to her forehead. “Honey.” You say softly, “You are the only one I would’ve wanted to do this with. You’re the best mama.”
“Doesn’t feel like it.” Natasha sniffles, and you wipe a tear that falls down the side of her face. You knew that it would be hard, especially for Natasha. You knew that her own childhood would pose setbacks for her, but you’d never anticipated her being so blind to how good of a mother she is.
“Then what does it feel like?” You asked, beginning to braid a strand of her red hair. She’d been thinking about dying it blonde; thinking about changing yet another part of your lives. That’s all that seems to be happening lately. Change. Even if most of it was planned, you hadn’t realized how hard it would be to keep yourselves afloat. You could fight aliens, and androids, and supersoldiers, but being human would always be the hardest part of your lives.
“Like if I make one wrong move, what makes me any different from him.” Natasha sobs. Her cries shake her body and she clings to you. Every wound that she’s been working on closing and healing has just reopened all at once, and now her heart is outside of her body in a perfect little girl that doesn’t know how loved she is. She’s trying so hard to put herself back together, but nothing about this is easy or quick. “I want to be good for her.”
“And you are.” Your tone leaves no room for Natasha to say anything. You know she wants to. She always has something else to say, but hearing her talk so harshly about herself is soul shattering. “Natasha, you are the absolute best thing that has happened to me or that little girl. You’re as much of her mother as I am, and I couldn’t do this without you. You’re already her favorite person, baby. You’re the one that soothes her, and gets her down. She doesn’t want me until she’s hungry.” Light laughter follows what you say, and the heavy, burdening weight on Natasha’s chest lessens a little. It doesn't fix everything, and you hadn’t expected it too, but it’s reassured her that she’s not the only one with faith in herself. You believe in her more than you believe in yourself.
For this one, quick moment in what’s felt like years, you felt like Y/N and Natasha again. No life threatening enemies attempting to control mankind, no crippling exhaustion and vomit covered clothing. Just you and her. And then the baby started crying.
Natasha giggled a little through her teary eyes, pulling away from your warmth and your willingness to be her person. “I’ll get her.”
You smiled, watching your girls through sleepy eyes. Ten years ago, you never would’ve thought that you’d be sleeping with your enemy in a two story house that you own, let alone making her your baby mama. But, you would trade this for anything. Natasha Romanoff is the best thing to have ever come into your life; even if just knowing her has almost killed you too many times to count.
“When do you think you’ll get out of work?” Y/N asks, leaning against her girlfriend’s unofficial work desk. She wasn’t at her own office today, deciding to spend the day at Station 19.
Natasha glances at the clock, them turn to look at her girlfriend with an apologetic look on her face. “Late.” Y/N sigh, throwing her head back. Laye hours weren’t unusual for her, she works at Grey Sloan Memorial after all, but the Firs Chief’s duties seem to be never ending. “I’m really sorry, love.”
“It’s okay. This is your job and your job is important and you’re amazing.”
With a chuckle, Natasha stands up to kiss Y/N. Her hands are wrapped around her lower back, while Y/N’s are on her shoulders. She pushes her against the table. Unfortunately for Y/N, Natasha pulls away before things go any further, which makes her whine.
Giving her one last kiss, Natasha goes back to the desk full of paper work. “Go home, wat something and take a nap. I’ll be there before you know it.”
“Okay.” Y/N agrees, though she doesn’t hide her pout. “Love you, see you later.”
“I love you,” is the last thing Y/N hears before closing the door to the office.
Sighing, she starts descending the stairs, hoping not to run into any of the other firefighters, as none of them are aware of her and Natasha’s relationship. However, luck isn’t on her side today.
“Y/N!” Travis, her brother, runs up to her with Victoria. “What are you doing here?” He looks over the scrubs she’s wearing. “Did something happen?”
“Nothing happened.” She rolls her eyes, stopping in front of the best friends.
“Then why are you here?”
“To see Natasha.”
Travis scrunches his brows while Victoria raises hers. “You were with Chief Ross?” She questions, not understanding why the younger Montgomery would have any business with the fire department’s chief.
“I was.”
“Why?”
“Because we’re in a relationship.”
The lobby turns eerily quiet. Victoria’s eyes are wide as she takes in the sentence. Travis looks like he has frozen on his spot. Neither of them expected to hear that coming out of her mouth. Y/N stares at them expectantly, waiting for either of them to say anything. She doesn’t really care what anyone thinks about her, but this silence was starting to make her uncomfortable.
“You-“ Travis points at her, as if that’d make him articulate better, “you are dating out boss?”
“Yes.”
He doesn’t understand how the word comes out of her mouth so easily. Yes. Like it’s the simplest thing in the world. “Why in the world didn’t you think to tell me, that you are dating my boss?” His voice turns high pitched.
“You never asked.”
“I never-!” He takes a moment to compose himself, rubbing his face. He glances at Victoria, who is quietly laughing to herself. “This isn’t funny!”
She raises her hands in mock surrender, but there’s still a grin on her lips. “I’m sorry, but I think this is amazing. Go baby Montgomery.” She high fives her, making Travis groan.
As Victoria clearly doesn’t see the issue with this, Travis decides to handle it himself. Which is why he starts jogging towards Chief Ross’ office. “Travis!” Y/N shouts, running after him. “Don’t you dare do anything stupid and dramatic, or I’ll strangle you!”
But, Travis has already slammed the office door open. He stands in front of Chief Ross, who just stares at him, and opens his mouth only for nothing to come out. He clearly didn’t think this through. That is his boss after all.
By now, Y/N has caught up to him. “I’m sorry, Tasha. He is being stupid.”
“You’re dating my sister.” Is all he manages to get out.
“I am.”
“Chief, with all due respect, I think it is an inappropriate relationship.” Travis states, making Y/N hit his arm.
“Y/N isn’t part of the FD, I’m not her superior.”
“Well, she’s my younger sister.”
“Adult younger sister.” Natasha argues back, way calmer than Y/N would be capable of when it comes to her brother. “This is a consenting relationship between two adults, who are equal. So, what is the problem, Montgomery? Is it because we’re both women?”
Y/N snorts at the question, and Travis starts spluttering. “Of course not!” His hands wave around the room. “I am very proud that my sister is comfortable with her sexuality, but..but this-“ he tries to come up with anything, but he can’t.
“But this is my relationship,” Y/N steps in front of him, “and I love her and that’s the end of it.”
He sighs. It’s his sister’s relationship, he can’t do anything, no matter how uncomfortable it is to know his younger sister is dating his boss. “I know. But if you do anything to hurt her-“
Natasha interrupts him instantly, “you should remember that I am still your superior.”
“Yes, Chief.” He mumbles, gives Y/N a hug, and leaves the office.
Giggling, Y/N closes the door and goes to sit down on the desk. “That was funny, and kind of hot.” She whispers with a glint in her eyes.
Natasha shakes her head with a smile. “Now, don’t do anything or I won’t get any work done.”
“Can I at least stay here? Now that they know.”
“Of course.” She sets her hand on Y/N’s knee, the other hand signing all the needed papers.
They spend the rest of Natasha’s work day together, though mostly in silence, but it’s the good kind of silence. Where Natasha can work in peace and Y/N can admire her while she works, one of her favorite things to do.
Believe In Her
✿ੈ ∘*┊summary: natasha romanoff went from being your biggest headache to your baby mama, and you wouldn’t change how it happened for the world, even if it broke your heart and almost your body a couple times
✿ੈ ∘*┊natasha romanoff x reader ( 1.7k )
When you first met Natasha Romanoff, she was just an employee for Pepper Potts; the same as you. You had been envious of her tight red ringlets and easy wit. Everything you wanted was just handed to her. For months the two of you went head to head on everything. Natasha thought the drapes in Peppers office should be blue, you thought they should be red. You were quite easily the most infuriating person Natasha had met. Maybe that's why she fell for you so hard.
Those first few months of your relationship are buried deep in your memory. You hate how petty and insecure you’d been. Natasha however, loved reminding you. Even after the two of you had smoothed out your kinks and traded in being hot headed rivals for loving girlfriends, she’d get on your case about it. Natasha Romanoff let nothing go. Ever.
It had taken her years to open up to you about her past. You’re thankful for that. If you’d known her story earlier, you wouldn’t have been shy to the idea of putting a bullet in Dreykov's head by yourself. You were impulsive, irrational, led by your emotions. As much as Natasha thought your lack of clarity was cute, had she told you about her past when you’d first met, you wouldn't have lived to your twenty-sixth birthday. What Natasha had never been shy about, was wanting kids.
She’d always said she wanted four. Three was an odd number, and two wasn’t enough. On nights when you couldn’t sleep, she would pull you in by your waist and tell you about her childhood. She’d tell you the bad things, but she’d dwell on the good things. She told you all about Yelena and Melina. About how good of a mother you’d be if you were given the opportunity. She told you about how when she was sterilized, during her recovery she thought about holding an innocent baby in her arms that was half her and half somebody she loves. She told you that she wished for a daughter. A daughter with her green eyes and the hair of somebody she loves. She told you that she would’ve named her Luna. She never cried about it. She’d just smile fondly, holding back her tears as she twists your hair around her fingers.
A year before things had somehow gotten worse for Natasha and yourself, you started your journey in trying to get pregnant. Two months before the both of you fled the states and almost died (multiple times), you’d attempted your first shot at pregnancy. You wish you’d known that it was successful when her little sister held you at knifepoint in Budapest, or when you’d finally gotten your chance to hurt the man that spent his life hurting your girl. You would’ve done things differently. Natasha had already been hurt so many times, you’d never forgive yourself if this good thing had been ruined by your eagerness to end her lifelong fight. If you’d lost your baby, your heart would’ve broken in a way that wasn’t fixable. Even after falling out of the sky and being shot by mind controlled women, suffering broken bones and lacerations, you were still pregnant. There was still a baby growing inside of you; a baby that although wasn’t technically half Natasha and yourself, was already a stubborn little fighter like your partner.
You’d found out a few months after being detained by Ross. After suffering near paralyzing headaches, bouts of nausea and intense food aversions for almost an entire week with no explanation, you had reluctantly let Natasha take you to the doctors. It was a Monday, just after three in the afternoon, and you were days away from entering your sixth month of pregnancy. Your sixth month of pregnancy with a little girl that you hoped would have Natasha’s heart.
You’d been forced to tell Natasha’s family over a phone call. After nearly fainting at breakfast with the team, your doctor had advised for a temporary bedrest. Natasha, already being overprotective without the encouragement from a professional, had placed you on lockdown for the better end of your pregnancy. Only when you started contracting did she let you stand on your own, hunched over the bed and wincing with every tight squeeze in your lower back, wanting nothing to do with her or anyone else.
Just after ten in the evening your baby girl joined your earthside with a scream like her mothers. Natasha had only rolled her eyes when you’d made that comment, bending down to kiss your sweaty forehead as the both of you watched the doctors clean her up and take her stats.
Natasha had taken to motherhood like she hadn’t grown up being abused and trained to murder. She’s gentle with her. Devoted to doing everything the best way she can, even if it means that at times she’s gone almost six days without a decent block of sleep. She was so worried about keeping the stress off of your shoulders, she’d let herself feel the brunt of having a newborn baby alone. You wished that she wasn’t so headstrong, that she hadn’t waited until she broke to tell you she was scared. You hated that in adding love to your relationship, Natasha and yourself had become so disconnected.
“She’s okay.” You whispered against Natasha’s shoulder. She’d finally come to bed after getting the baby down for a nap, but at every whimper she was threatening to leave your side to calm your daughter. “I promise, baby. She’s okay.”
Natasha huffs, twisting around so that her face is buried in your chest. She ignores the smell of spit up on your top, and the dried milk that’s seeping through your bra, and just lets your warmth, and your body, and your whispers comfort her. She’s exhausted. You both are exhausted. But the both of you are also so completely in love.
“How are you so good at this?” Natasha whines. You laugh gently, combing your fingers through her knotty red hair. You don’t remember the last time either of you has had time to take a shower, and her greasy, tangled hair is enough proof of the neglect you both are feeling.
“I’m not.” You shake your head, bottom lip downturned as you wonder how Natasha had ever let herself believe that. You’ve cried yourself to sleep in her arms almost every night for the last three days. Nothing about this transition had been easy for you. “Why do you think that?”
“You’re so good with her. You make it look so easy.” She sniffles. It breaks your heart watching Natasha cry. You can count on your ten fingers how many times it’s happened, but it doesn’t get any easier. Her chest rises and falls almost too fast for you to count each shaky inhale, and with every gasp for air you’re rubbing her back, encouraging her to keep going. To finally let you in.
When she doesn't elaborate any further, only presses her head into your chest, your lips fall to her forehead. “Honey.” You say softly, “You are the only one I would’ve wanted to do this with. You’re the best mama.”
“Doesn’t feel like it.” Natasha sniffles, and you wipe a tear that falls down the side of her face. You knew that it would be hard, especially for Natasha. You knew that her own childhood would pose setbacks for her, but you’d never anticipated her being so blind to how good of a mother she is.
“Then what does it feel like?” You asked, beginning to braid a strand of her red hair. She’d been thinking about dying it blonde; thinking about changing yet another part of your lives. That’s all that seems to be happening lately. Change. Even if most of it was planned, you hadn’t realized how hard it would be to keep yourselves afloat. You could fight aliens, and androids, and supersoldiers, but being human would always be the hardest part of your lives.
“Like if I make one wrong move, what makes me any different from him.” Natasha sobs. Her cries shake her body and she clings to you. Every wound that she’s been working on closing and healing has just reopened all at once, and now her heart is outside of her body in a perfect little girl that doesn’t know how loved she is. She’s trying so hard to put herself back together, but nothing about this is easy or quick. “I want to be good for her.”
“And you are.” Your tone leaves no room for Natasha to say anything. You know she wants to. She always has something else to say, but hearing her talk so harshly about herself is soul shattering. “Natasha, you are the absolute best thing that has happened to me or that little girl. You’re as much of her mother as I am, and I couldn’t do this without you. You’re already her favorite person, baby. You’re the one that soothes her, and gets her down. She doesn’t want me until she’s hungry.” Light laughter follows what you say, and the heavy, burdening weight on Natasha’s chest lessens a little. It doesn't fix everything, and you hadn’t expected it too, but it’s reassured her that she’s not the only one with faith in herself. You believe in her more than you believe in yourself.
For this one, quick moment in what’s felt like years, you felt like Y/N and Natasha again. No life threatening enemies attempting to control mankind, no crippling exhaustion and vomit covered clothing. Just you and her. And then the baby started crying.
Natasha giggled a little through her teary eyes, pulling away from your warmth and your willingness to be her person. “I’ll get her.”
You smiled, watching your girls through sleepy eyes. Ten years ago, you never would’ve thought that you’d be sleeping with your enemy in a two story house that you own, let alone making her your baby mama. But, you would trade this for anything. Natasha Romanoff is the best thing to have ever come into your life; even if just knowing her has almost killed you too many times to count.
Pairings: Bucky Barnes x Stark!Reader (endgame), Steve Rogers x Stark!Reader, Tony Stark x Stark!Reader (siblings), Past Peggy Carter x Stark!Reader (brief, one-sided), Natasha Romanoff x Stark!Reader (shameless flirting)
Summary: Tony Stark's sister's a fucking badass, codename—Static. Here's her story through the MCU.
(These scenes incorporate y/n into the pre-existing story as a character without making drastic changes to the plot or mythos. All the major plot points from the MCU remain in place with the addition of the reader as Static, who is not only a Stark but also enhanced. Whatever events from the canon aren’t mentioned, take place without much change.)
All of these are complete stories in and of themselves but fun to read together if you'd like. Or you could follow my suggested reading order
Warnings: Swearing, Canon Typical Violence, NSFW content tagged in the particular chapter.
In order of release—
The Falcon, The Winter Soldier and Static
A series of scenes with y/n (Static) during the events of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Wherein she’s a somewhat retired superhero, doing a solid for the boys, while coping with the aftermath of losing her only family, Tony Stark.
Age of Ultron (ft. Static)
When Ultron strikes against the Avengers using the Maximoff kids, the visions that Wanda shows Y/n Stark makes her lash out and use her powers—powers that her team didn’t know about. This is the aftermath.
Static: Get, Set, Glitch
Following the events of The Falcon, The Winter Soldier, and Static several people from Static’s past make their way back into her life. One of them just so happens to be her ex, America’s Ass; Steve Rogers. How will she deal with Steve’s return, her fragile yet burgeoning new relationship with Bucky Barnes while simultaneously fighting off demons from her past?
Static Verse Snippets
Just some snippets from Static Verse that didn't make it into concrete fics but are fucking important anyway.
Iron Man 1 (ft. Static)
Tony’s standing at the press conference, contemplating whether or not he should tell the world he is Iron Man. What does his (secretly an alien with cool powers, codename: Static) sister have to say about it?
Bucky Barnes, the Boyfriend
Set somewhere around the events of The Falcon, The Winter Soldier, and Static and Static: Get, Set, Glitch, these are small stand—alone snippets with Bucky and his girlfriend (who’s not only enhanced but also a Stark and an Avenger; codename—Static) being hopeless idiots in love.
The Avengers (ft. Static)
The events of the Avengers take place but Tony’s sister’s, y/n (yet to be codenamed—Static) is there to participate in the action.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (ft. Static)
The events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier take place but Tony’s sister, y/n (yet to be codenamed—Static) has to become a reluctant participant and she fucking hates every second of it.
Avengers: Infinity War (ft. Static)
The events of the Avengers: Infinity War happen. Thanos comes bringing reckoning along with him. And Tony’s sister, Y/n (codename—Static) is right there next to her team, ready to fight.
Avengers: Endgame (ft. Static)
The events of the Avengers: Endgame happen. Y/n (codename—Static) get blipped away. And for a while Tony makes peace with it but then Steve shows up to his door and he discovers time travel. So how can he not at least try to bring her back?
Are You Now Or Have You Ever Been?
The last thing Bucky expects is for Y/n to side with Steve on the matter of killing the man who tortured him into becoming the Winter Soldier.
The Sound of Silence and Static
Y/n Stark gets charged with the murder of former Lieutenant General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross. Only one problem, she didn't do it. Here's the story of how the gang, which includes Y/n Stark, Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson, Steve Rogers, Joaquin Torres, and Harley Keener solve the whole thing in time for Bucky and Y/n to get their 'happy ever after'.
Captain America: Civil War (ft. Static)
The events of Captain America: Civil War happen but Tony’s sister, y/n (codename—Static) stands in the eye of the storm, with her brother on one side, and her boyfriend on the other.
Iron Man 2 (ft. Static)
The events of Iron Man 2 take place, however, Y/n (yet to be codenamed - Static) is there alongside her brother, confused and annoyed.
It wasn’t Natasha’s first choice to leave you while she went to Budapest but she figured it was the safest option. Even with Secretary Ross looking all over for you two she’d rather have you stay in hiding than get caught because of her. She left you with Rick, her friend who had set up the safe house in Norway. Because you were left with him, you helped him get everything your mom had asked for.
One of the things she had asked for was a jet and while Rick had gotten something that had wings and a propeller, you weren’t sure if it would do the trick, “Can that thing even fly?” you asked him as he helped you into the ‘jet.’
“Yes I’m sure it can fly Y/n,” he said, handing you a headset, “Now come on, let’s not keep your mother waiting,” he motioned for you to sit in the passenger seat and you did, making sure the buckle was secure before you shot him a thumbs up. He took that as his signal to start up the engine and take off.
~~~~~
You touched down in a large, empty field. Apparently this is where your mom was meeting up with you two, along with someone she said could help take down the Red Room. You didn’t know the Red Room was still in operation. She always told you that she took care of it and no one there could hurt you. You never asked too many questions about that part of her life. Natasha wasn’t one to keep secrets from you about that part which is why she told you that you came from there. Right after Drekov was killed, she found you as a baby, and took you in. Since it was right after she turned to SHIELD, they let her keep you.
After waiting for a while, you heard footsteps coming through the woods and voices getting closer and closer. You stood up from your spot in the plane and went to the doorway. You watched your mom appear from the trees with another woman. She looked younger and had blonde hair. They seemed to be talking to each other, maybe even bickering but you couldn’t really hear what they were saying.
“Mama?” you called out. She stopped talking to the other woman and turned to you, a smile crept onto her face.
“Y/n,” she said.
“Who’s that?” the woman whispered to Natasha.
She turned to the other woman and whispered back, “She’s technically my kid. Adopted,” she explained.
By that time, you had reached both women and your mom pulled you into a hug. Even though it hadn’t been long since she last saw you, she still hated leaving you, “I have someone I want you to meet,” she said to you. You nodded as Natasha motioned to the blonde woman, “Y/n this is Yelena, my sister. You remember me telling you about her right?”
You nodded. Your mom had told you many stories about her childhood and they included Yelena a lot. You had always wanted to meet her but anytime you brought up the subject, your mom would brush it off, “Hi,” you said excitedly, going over to Yelena and hugging her.
Yelena seemed a bit taken aback by the sudden contact but she relaxed after a second and patted you on the top of the head gently, “She’s a hugger I see,” she said to your mom.
“Yeah she is,” your mom replied, “You get used to it.”
~~~~~
After the three of you reduced Alexei from prison, you were the one lucky enough to sit across from him in the back. You’ve heard your mom grumble about him here or there and if she didn’t like him, then neither would you.
“So how did a little thing like you wind up here?” he asked you through the headsets. You ignored him, deciding the landscape below was more interesting. You saw your mom in your peripheral vision look over at you before looking forward again.
Alexei seemed to notice this as well, “Oh I see,” he said. You and your mom both looked at him and shot him a confused look, “What? You think I can’t see the look a mother gives her child,” now he turned straight towards Natasha, “I can’t believe you didn’t tell me about her. She’s just like you.”
“You do realize that she’s adopted right?” Yelena asked him, “Cause you know, the whole not having a uterus kind of makes it difficult to have a baby,” she said.
“Oh, well,” he turned to you, “That doesn’t matter. I have a granddaughter now,” he went to reach out for you but you turned and smacked his hand away.
“Don’t touch me,” you snapped.
“Okay,” Natasha said as she stood up from her seat, “Y/n,” she pulled you up from your seat gently and gave you hers so you wouldn’t have to be near him. She could sense he was just getting on your nerves and wanted to prevent you from blowing up at him. Last time something similar happened, it wasn’t pretty for the other guy.
Natasha took your place across from Alexei, “Where is the Red Room,” she asked him.
“I don’t know,” he responded.
Yelena scoffed before uttering a small “bullshit,” to herself.
“But I do know someone who does know,” Alexei added, “She’s outside of St. Petersburg.”
~~~~~
After what felt like days of walking, all thanks to Alexei and his thinking that you’d make it St. Petersburg, you finally reached a small house with pens out in front. Natasha kept you close to her but that wasn’t surprising. It was a habit of hers, always keeping you within arms reach.
The four of you were met with another woman, one who lowered her gun when she saw you all. She let you all inside but not without shooting you a curious glance.
The table was set and you all took your seats. Alexei was at the head of the table with your mom to his left and Melina, the woman from before, across from her. You were sitting next to Natasha and Yelena was across from you. Melina kept shooting glances at you until she finally put her fork down and looked at you, “I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name,” she said.
Before you had the chance to answer, Alexei spoke up through a mouthful of food, “Her name is Y/n. She’s our granddaughter.”
“Granddaughter?” Melina looked between you and Natasha, “But I thought-”
“Adopted,” you, Nat, and Yelena said at the same time.
“Right,” she replied, “Welcome to the family Y/n.”

Chapter 4: On the Run
It is strange how quickly your whole world can change.  One minute you’re planning a wedding and living in the Avengers Compound in Upstate New York, an official agent for the Avengers.  The next you’re considered a war criminal and you’re on the run with your fiance and three other people, one of them who happened to be Captain America.
It had been like a slow-motion car wreck watching everything go wrong.  First, there was a completely unnecessary fight against your friends in the airport because no one wanted to listen to each other.  Then you’d been arrested by people who you’d once considered not just friends, but family.  Then you’d been shipped off to some secret supermax prison in the ocean for enhanced individuals with no trial, even though you weren’t enhanced.  Then Steve Rogers had busted you out and you’d ended up on the run.
You were with Sam though, and you’d rather be with him on the run knowing you were on the right side of the fight than safe in New York alone.
You’d all been trying to make the most of your time working as vigilantes.  There had been a lot of alien tech ending up in the hands of criminal organizations and Steve had been leading your little band of merry men to go and get it back.
Things weren’t easy for any of you.  There was a lack of money coming in and everyone had had to quickly withdraw their entire savings before the government blocked all of their accounts.  Thankfully Steve’s pension from the army had accrued a lot since he’d been lost at sea, but he hadn’t been able to withdraw all of it.
It had meant that a lot of the income came down to you, as out of everyone - you were the least recognizable.  Yes, there were alerts out for you, but you were a spy - you knew how to disguise yourself and you knew where to find under-the-counter work when needed.
The trick was never staying in the same place for long and returning to countries that didn’t sign the accords.  Even those weren’t safe for long - Ross was not above sending people into countries illegally to detain people who he was hunting - Bruce Banner was a testament to that - but they were safe for a little while and meant that once a month rather than sleep in the stolen Quinn, you could splash out and get a hotel.  Although you were pretty sure that Wanda was often sleeping in hotels - with Vision most likely - anytime she said she needed to have some alone time.
You woke up and stretched on the cold metal floor of the Quinn, your spine popping loudly.  Sam shifted in close to you, his arm draping over your sternum and his hand resting on your neck so his fingertips lightly caressed your jaw.  “Was wondering when you were gonna wake up,” he murmured.
“Is it late?”  You asked, blinking your eyes in the dark of the jet.  There was light coming in through the cockpit window, but it was low and you couldn’t tell if that was because it was early or just overcast outside.
“Not particularly,” he said, his hand running down your neck and over your collarbone.  “You just normally sleep like shit in the Quin.”
“Who says I didn’t,” you grumbled, rolling in toward him, and breathing him in.  There was an acrid sting to his scent thanks to the fact that neither of you had showered for a few days.  You were all due for a trip to somewhere remote with beds and good water pressure.  Steve had said maybe going back to Wakanda for a few weeks was in order.  He didn’t like to go too often because T’Challa had already extended himself above and beyond anything that was fair to ask of him just by harboring Bucky.  But it had been over six months since any of you had been there, and you had accumulated a lot of alien technology that you knew Shuri would love to get her hands on.
Sam chuckled and his hands ran down to yours, linking your fingers together, and playing with the engagement ring that sat on your finger.  “What if we just get married in Wakanda?”
You looked up into his eyes.  They looked black in the dim light and when he smiled at you, the corners of them crinkled slightly.  “I’m not sure that’s what you really want,” you said.  “Don’t you want Sarah to be there?  And the kids?”
Sam frowned.  Sarah’s kids had been two and four years old when you’d gone on the run and every month that he missed of their lives hurt him.  He’d been sending money back to his sister to keep the family business running back when you’d both had actual jobs, but these days he was barely scraping by himself.
He sighed and nuzzled into your neck.  “I just want us to start our lives together.”
“I know, but life had other plans,” you said.  “I love you and I don’t need to get married to know that.  It’s not going to change anything.  We will still be on the run and we won’t be able to build a stable life and have kids.”
Sam sighed and leaned his forehead against you.  “I know, but I want you to be my wife.”
“I am your wife,” you said.
“Not legally,” he said.
“We don’t do anything legally at the moment,” you said, playfully.  When Sam didn’t laugh, you sighed and wrapped your arms around him.  “Sam,” you said.  “If you really want to get married in Wakanda, I’ll do it.  I’m sure I can get something nice to wear together, and Nat and Wanda can be my bridesmaids.  I’m sure given how close we’ve all gotten they would be who I’d have picked anyway.  Just like I know you’d have Steve be your best man.  But I know you.  This isn’t really what you want.  You want the big wedding down in Louisiana like you always planned.  With the catering done using fish that were caught by your family’s trawler and you want AJ and Cass to be our little ring bearers.  And I know… I know that if you do this - if we get married in Wakanda without Sarah, she’ll murder you. She will murder you and then disown you post humus.”
Sam started laughing.  “Yeah, she will.”
“Sam, I love you.  I’m yours, no matter what,” you said.
“I know,” he replied with a sigh.  “I know we’re doing the right thing now.  I mean - Tony can get all on his high horse about how important the accords were, but he still broke them immediately.  That fucking kid he brought to the fight is still breaking the accords and living his best life.  I just… I wish we could have both.”
“So do I,” you said.  “I hope they come around, but I’m scared that the thing that makes them realize how wrong they are is gonna be real bad.  Like; world-ending bad.”
“Yeah, me too,” Sam said.  “Which is why I’m doing this.”
“So, what do you want to do?  You asked.
“I guess… we can wait,” Sam relented.  “But maybe we can see if there’s any way we could do something small that we could sneak Sarah to?  Like … she goes to the Maldives and who just happens to be there getting married?”
“They’ll be watching her,” you said.
“Yeah, I know,” he said.  “But we can look into it.”
“Yeah, okay,” you agreed.  “We’ll look into it.”
Sam leaned in and kissed you deeply.  You wrapped your arms around his shoulders and pulled him down on top of you, so the full weight of his body pressed down on the cold metal floor of the jet.
Sam groaned softly and rolled his hips, his cock starting to harden against your thigh.  “Where’s Steve?” you mumbled against his lips as he continued to kiss you.  He was currently the only unknown factor as Wanda was on another of her ‘retreats’ and Natasha was dealing with some ‘personal things’ that she wouldn’t tell the rest of you about.  He pulled back and smirked down at you.  “Why?  You want him to watch?”
“No,” you giggled, smacking his arm.  “I want the opposite of that.”
Sam laughed and nuzzled at your neck, pushing his hands up under your sleep shirt. “On his morning run.  Just you and me, baby.”
You kissed him again - more frantic this time, and your hands dug into his shoulders.  Sam began to squeeze and massage your breast as he ground down against you, sending a warm buzz through your body.  He began to move down your body, taking his time to both undress you and kiss every part of you.  By the time he was crouched between your spread legs, your whole body prickled like a live wire.
He gripped your thigh with one hand and reached up and began massaging your breast with the other as he dipped his head down and began lapping at your cunt.  You moaned and arched your back, gripping his bicep with one hand as you reached over your head with the other.  A hot current ran through you as Sam focused on your clit, sucking and nipping at it as he squeezed your breast.  He moaned into your cunt, the sound sending vibrations through you.  You slowly fell apart under him, writhing as a coil of hot pleasure wound itself tightly in your core.  Sam thrust two of his fingers inside you, and as soon as they hit that sweet spot inside you you cried out loudly and came hard, your whole body shuddering as your orgasm crashed through you.
Sam sat up onto his knees and looked at you.  “Gonna have to be a little quieter,” he said tapping your thigh.  “Steve’s got pretty good hearing you know.”
You scrunched up your face.  “Maybe you need to gag me.”
Sam chuckled and bit his bottom lip as you got on our hands and knees.  Even on the bedroll, your knees were going to hate you after this, but right now you didn’t care at all.  Sam moved up behind you, held onto your hips, and thrust hard into you.  You stumbled forward a little but managed to catch yourself on the cargo trunk in front of you.  He began to fuck you hard immediately, not even waiting to steady yourself.  You cried out and clenched around him as it felt like a hot shard tore through you.
Sam leaned over you, kissing your neck and shoulder, as he put his hand over your mouth.  “Hush now,” he growled in your ear.  “You don’t want to wake up the whole forest.”
You moaned into his hand and opened your mouth, letting him push two of his fingers inside for you to suck on.  He railed into you, his hips moving quickly and erratically as your bodies slapped together.  You tried to bounce back on him, adding to the pleasure coursing through you, but it wasn’t long until your arms gave out and you were helpless under him as your orgasm built.
As his hips began to stutter, Sam wrapped his arm around your waist and began to rub your clit.  It was all it took for the dam inside you to burst.  You buried your face in your arm and cried out as you came, clenching around Sam’s cock.  He began to thrust even more erratically as he chased his own release and with a jerk and a low groan he came, releasing inside you.
You let yourself flop completely on the floor, breathing heavily and feeling a little high on endorphins.  “You think Steve is out there and heard us?”  You asked as Sam lay back down next to you and kissed your shoulder.
“Caught the tail end of the show!” Steve yelled, his voice muffled through the jet walls.
You and Sam both broke down into peels of laughter and you hid your face in Sam’s chest.
“Get a move on, would you?!” Steve yelled.  “We have a lot to do today.”
You laughed even harder and Sam held you close, pressing a kiss to your forehead.  “Come on, duty calls,” he chuckled.
You let him help you up and the two of you both started cleaning yourselves up the best way you could.  You hoped to god that Steve would say it was time for a break soon, but in the meantime, you were glad you were here with Sam.

          Nothing was the same. The last time things were in a good place - or even a semi-good place - was before, when Steve and Sam were taking refuge with you waiting to see if Ross would find them. But after years immersed amongst the Avengers, learning how to fight and survive from the best and the strongest, and mastering how to stay under the radar. It helped you help them, when they needed it, even if that help was just to get them from Point A to Point B.
         Things were getting better, but good was still so far out of the equation.
         The water was cool on your toes as you sat on the edge of the dock, arms resting on your thighs as you looked down at the ripples. The voices buzzed back by the house as people chatted with each other, with Sarah and the boys. The thumps of footsteps behind you made you tilt your head, but you didn’t look, knowing you certainly weren’t in any danger.
“You know, the party is back there.”
“Yeah, I know,” you chuckled, nodding your head. Sam nodded, too, looking out over the water, before he glanced at you.
“What’s going on, kid?”
“Hey, I’m older than I used to be,” you pointed out, brow raised, before you paused, and frowned, looking out at the water, yourself. “Having a rough day.”
“Wanna talk about it?”
“Shouldn’t you be helping Sarah?”
“Shouldn’t you be over there distracting Buck so I don’t have to threaten him for talking to my sister?” You huffed, smiling a little with a shrug. “Come on, you can always talk to me, that hasn’t changed.”
         You were quiet for a moment, but he could see the furrow in your brow as you tried to figure out how to put it into words. Sam didn’t push, he never did, but he did shift a little beside you, quietly reminding you that he was there. With a soft sigh, you shook your head, and rolled your shoulders.
“Everyone was supposed to come back, Sam.”
“What?”
“When you guys left, after the call from Bruce, everyone was supposed to come back, things were supposed to go back to normal. But when Steve and Nat came back, you and Bucky and Wanda and Vis were all gone. And when you and Bucky came back, Steve and Nat were gone. You guys left to help, and then…”
“Everything changed.”
“Don’t get me wrong,” you insisted, looking at him. “I’m so glad you’re back, and the world is back, but...Natasha is gone. Tony is gone. Steve is gone. And I didn’t get to say goodbye to any of them. And it’s so….it feels like…”
         Sam could see you struggling, and shifted closer, reaching up to rub his hand over your back.
“I know.” Sighing, you glanced behind you, seeing Sarah talking to Bucky before they both looked towards the dock.
“I’m sorry,” you told him, shaking your head. “I know...that you didn’t get to say goodbye to Nat either...and you really didn’t get to say goodbye to Tony and Steve.” Sam shrugged a little bit, squeezing your shoulder.
“It sucks, there’s no lying about that. But you don’t have to apologize to me. They were your friends, too,” he pointed out. “You know what helps me move forward?” You hummed, tilting your head curiously. “The people behind us. My sister, my nephews, and yeah, even the tin man.” Chuckling, you looked back again, this time seeing Bucky was a little closer, and he waved a little awkwardly, making you blush as you waved back. “I think the tin man even has a soft spot for you.”
“...shut up, Sam.”
“I think you have a soft spot for him, too.”
“I am pretty sure I said shut up,” you huffed, biting your lip.
“...Steve would want you to be happy. They would all want you to be happy.”
“They’d want you happy too, Captain America.” Sam groaned, but he smiled as he climbed to his feet.
“I think this time, you need to shut up,” Sam teased you, helping you up. “Look. If anyone is gonna understand the feeling, it’s gonna be me, and it’s gonna be tin man.”
“He does have a name,” you reminded Sam, amused.
“So if you start having that moment again, ya know, just...come find us. We’ll cheer you up.”
         Bucky lingered at the end of the dock, watching as you hugged Sam, before he patted your shoulder and headed back towards the house. With a nod and a pat to Bucky’s arm, Sam was gone to the house, and you were leaning against one of the bracings, pulling your socks and shoes back on.
“Sarah, um...said the grill was almost ready, so we should be able to eat soon.”
“Awesome...I’m starving,” you admitted with a laugh, putting your foot down and heading towards him.
“So, is...everything okay?” he asked, turning a little as you reached him. You paused, peering up at him, before biting your lip and blushing.
“Yeah...just...missing our old friends.”
         Bucky hesitated a moment, pursing his lips, before he reached out and slung his arm around your shoulders. With a smile, you leaned into his side, slipping your arm around his waist.
“Come on...let’s go eat and have a couple beers while I pretend the alcohol does anything to me.”
“Ah, Buck, you know how to sweet talk a gal.” He laughed a little, rolling his eyes at you, as the two of you joined the others.
