Baaaaabe 😫
Ive been sick for the last couple days, and as always, that first day was horrible. Ive had my brain legit decide it wants to inflate bigger than my skull capacity (long story short, pregnancy 🫡) and i got to re-experience that feeling for the first 12 hours 💀
BUT i came back and i was sooo excited for your updates!! They were soo good (please tell me theres a part 2 to that angst....pls 🥺) And i love our discussions in the comments 🫶
I do have another request though if you have the time love. Another possessive!wolfstar buuuttt..... make reader Jamie's sister (twins?)!! Its troublesome enough for James to keep Sirius' hands to himself, but full moon Rem?? He's a brick wall. Like somethings happening between the 2 and Jamie is chasing reader, then she spots Rem and hides behind him. James tries to reach for her and Rem is just kinda like "???? Excuse me, thats mine. Dont touch. James Fleamont Potter. DONT. TOUCH." without even knowing whats going on. James is incredulous (because thats HIS sister) and Siri is chuckling but it looks like Rem might actually bite Jamie's hand off so he moves between them to seperate them but Rem is also like "ExCuSe YOU??? Also mine. *to siri* dont touch him. *to James* dont touch them or you might not have all your fingers when you wake up!!"
And just the repercussions of this where James isnt allowed alone with either until a couple days passed the 🌕
Hope youre looking after yourself darling 🩵
I love James' sister trope - something about it screams fluff and perhaps a little angst but just in all the best ways. I would imagine his sister to be so much like him: mischievous, funny, and full of love. Thanks for requesting!!!
poly!wolfstar x potter sister!reader
There were quite a few perks that came along with being James Potter's twin sister. One said perk was having a built-in best friend from the moment you came into the world. Another was that whilst you were attending school, you had the benefit of no one being willing to mess with you on account of the company you kept - namely, your brother and his infamous friends who called themselves The Marauders.
What being James Potter's twin sister couldn't protect you from? James Potter.
What could protect you from being James Potter's twin sister? Being the girlfriend of Sirius Black and Remus Lupin.
You and James were leaving Care of Magical Creatures together, heading to meet up with Remus and Sirius near the Greenhouses when one Lily Evans walked by - graciously bestowing James the time of day for quite possibly the first time ever - when you decided that this was the perfect pranking opportunity.
You really couldn't be blamed for what happened next: it truly was a gift bestowed upon you by the great pranking gods, and who were you to deny it?
"Hello, Potter." Lily said, causing James to gasp dramatically.
"Hello, Lily! Beautiful day out today, innit?"
Lily couldn't help but snicker at the sickeningly wide grin that took over James' face.
"Oi, Jamie. I forgot to tell you: mum sent that rash cream you were asking for. She said to remind you it's only safe to put around your anus, not in it." You proclaimed loudly, pretending to read from a 'letter' your mother had sent.
The courtyard became incredibly quiet before what you recognized to be Barty Crouch Junior's laugh echoed the space, triggering the snickering of all those present.
"You are so dead!" James sneered and you didn't hesitate to take off in a sprint - knowing your brother was a mere few paces behind you.
"You slithering little snake! She finally starts coming around - are you kidding me!?" He shouted as you swerved between bodies standing in your way whilst he just barrelled right through them.
Suddenly, you saw salvation in the form of one Remus John Lupin.
Now, granted, Remus didn't always protect you from your squabbles with James. Part of the reason for that was because half of the time you sort of deserved it (much like today), and the other part was that he claimed he didn't know what proper protocol was in sibling relationships on account of him being an only child. Sirius, a brother himself, had no such qualms and always took your side.
However, you knew that the full moon was in a mere two more sleeps, meaning Remus was at his most protective (read: possessive) which did not distinguish James Potter as friend, sibling, nor pack.
Right now: James Potter was only a threat.
And, let's be honest, being James Potter's twin sister, and a girlfriend to Remus Lupin and Sirius black also meant you were mischievous as hell. So you had no trouble using this to your utmost advantage.
You squeaked in terror as you slid behind Remus' lanky frame a moment before James - the bastard - slammed into his form and all but bounced off of Remus. James was admittedly more muscular than Remus, but Remus' height and werewolf strength left him towering above James as the dumb sod picked himself up off the ground.
"What in the buggering hell is going on?" He spat at James as one of his arms wrapped behind him, shielding you from your fuming brother.
"That sneaky little witch just embarrassed me in front of Lily!" James barked, looking like he was still trying to figure out how to get around Remus in order to strangle you.
"Please," Sirius drawled as he walked over casually, "like you need any help in that department Prongs."
You tried to hide your snicker, but from Remus' glance at you through the corner of his eye, you knew he caught it.
"She told the entire courtyard I needed cream for a rash on my anus!"
Sirius doubled over in laughter and you preened when you noticed Remus let out a soft chuckle himself.
"It's not sodding funny you wanker! Lily spoke to me first today! I'm going to kill you!" James snarled, moving his attention from Sirius to you.
As James stepped forward menacingly, Remus grabbed the collar of his shirt. "Prongs, enough." He barked.
Sirius was still laughing when he moved to stand between Remus and James, releasing James' shirt from Remus' fist.
"Okay, down boy." Sirius snarked, patting James' shoulder consolingly.
"Oh, sod off." James muttered, elbowing Sirius as he moved to step away.
You let out a breath you didn't realize you were holding and tried to even out your breathing; lungs still burning from your run.
"You okay, dove?" Remus asked you so gently as he bent down to make eye contact with you. His face screamed love, attentiveness, and care, making you feel slightly guilty for having shoved him in the middle of your tomfoolery.
"I'm fine, Moons. Sorry for causing trouble." You answered solemnly.
His face picked up slightly at your words as he pressed a kiss to your forehead. "You wouldn't be you if you weren't causing trouble, love."
Your tender moment was interrupted by a yelp, causing the two of you to turn only to notice James and Sirius wrestling. James seemed to have gotten Sirius into a headlock, and the sod wasn't willing to tap out - still kicking and clawing at James in anyway he could.
"Oi!" Remus shouted as he plucked Sirius out of James' grasp and shoved him in the direction of the castle. James used his momentary distraction as an opportunity to set his sights back on you as he lunged, tackling you to the ground.
"Fuckin' hell Jamie! You weight a tonne!" You shouted, kneeing him in the gut. James doubled over and rolled onto his side in the fetal position.
You didn't even get a chance to right yourself before you were thrown over Remus' shoulder who was still shouting at Sirius to "get back to the dorm. The both of you are staying within my sights for the next foreseeable future" as you all left James with the wind knocked out of him, keeled over on the castle grounds.

The Reasons Why Severus Snape is Secretly a Cat, Actually.
I'm saying he's a neglected and abused stray little black cat and here is why
He's very meow meow. VERY kitten.
Black cats are vilified and assumed by some to be evil. Coincidentally, both of these things happen to Snape as well.
Difficult to befriend. Cats are already picky about who they like, and Cats who have had it rough are even more difficult. One cannot just waltz up to a cat like that expect friendliness, or even indifference for that matter.
Extremely bad, no good, very bad luck with dogs. Seriously, the man MUST have dog trauma by now. Werewolves? Sirius, one of his biggest haters and tormentors, a dog animagus? even Fluffy mauling his leg?? The first two were marauders, yes, but that's not a good thing when it comes to Snape. (not all dogs and cats dont get along, but its certainly interesting. Personally, I headcanon him as a definite cat person who has a bad associations with dogs but thats a whole other post.)
Very hissy and snarly and unpleasant when threatened - and sometimes, even when YOU think there's no apparent threat! This is premium Gato™ Behavior. An abused little shelter cat, horribly unsocialized, becoming hyper defensive anytime anything happens to him, even if the thing that is happening is kind.
it fits with the idea that hes "mean for no reason" because there IS a reason - cats are complicated little guys! Where you see a nonissue, He might see a threat. Where you see kindness, he might see mockery. Where you see playfulness he might see cruelty, and so on. After all, he's been on the receiving end of it all too often.
Cats like this usually end up stuck in shelters - not a home - because no one will take them. They're too offputting, they're too mean, they're too much trouble. One could argue that Hogwarts itself IS that shelter in this scenario; a place to be, but not a home. Not really.
Worth noting: maybe to Harry, Hogwarts can be considered a sort-of Home, but he actually found kindness and friends there. Severus lost his only friend and was tormented there. Better than his incredibly shitty situation with his family? Certainly! but Shelters often are.
SWM fits as well; A moment of extreme distress from being humiliated, afraid, and overwhelmed? all those jeering laughing faces while he is vulnerable and unsafe, defenseless at the hands of people who have continuously hurt him for years?? and to see and know that his friend - his BEST friend - the only friend; the only PERSON, he has, is there holding back a smile as it is happening too? Have you ever met a cat in distress? of course he lashed out. It's honestly astounding that he didnt lash out MORE.
and while on the subject of SWM, him lashing out at Lily applies here too. A cornered, distressed cat (especially one with a history of abuse) sees everything as a threat , even people it is normally friendly to, if it's distressed enough. Have you tried to bathe a cat? or maybe tried to coax one to get into a cat carrier for the vet? these things are very difficult but manageable at the best of times but "vulnerable, afraid, humiliated, and threatened" are NOT the best of times, I fear.
it even works with his occlumency and the way he deals with vulnerability as well. Cats, when in pain, do their best to hide that pain. This is because to be outwardly hurt is to be vulnerable, and that can lead to predation by bigger animals. Severus too, hides his vulnerability. The things that truly matter to him, his worries, his soft and squishy bits, and loyalties all carefully locked away.
Rivalry with Minerva?? that's just good ol' unserious cat drama. Have u ever seen an indoor cat staring down a stray through the window? silly little creatures. They'll grumble about it and act like its on sight (and maybe it is!) but when you're not looking, there'll be sniffing through the glass and pretending they dont care while they nap suspiciously close by.
Starved for affection and touch. An abused stray, past all the hissing and the fear and violence, once they're finally given a chance and finally understand that they are safe, just wants to be loved. They usually end up being the most affectionate and loyal cats of all! only to those they feel safe with, of course.
And speaking of loyalty, that applies here too. He was loyal to Lily, the first and only person to show him kindness (though my feelings for her are very complicated) and he was later loyal to Dumbledore. Unfortunately, neither of these people ever truly took in the stray, not really. And so the Stray was never actually socialized, and never completely safe, and never actually given a home.
and finally.. his death. Cats have a tendency to hide when nearing death, or dying.. and as such, often die in solitude. Severus may not have exactly had a direct hand in this of course, but.. there's something about him dying in this shitty little shack, far away from the action, presumably alone (or so he thought until Harry and his friends materialized out of nowhere under the cloak.). He wasn't actually alone in his actual final moments, but in the time leading up to it? Very lonely.
In a way, one could say that Lily came closest to adopting the stray Sev cat. And maybe she would have! maybe she wanted to take in the stray at one point - had planned to, even! But her friends told her he was dirty and gross, "who knows where that things been! he's probably diseased". and The marauders kept tormenting him, making him increasingly defensive and hissy and violent, as cats often are in that situation and then it was also "look how cruel and mean he is! he'll only hurt you". and maybe when the time finally came and that defensiveness finally WAS aimed at her it only confirmed what she had already begun to believe. And then she decided she wasnt a cat person after all. Who knows? One could make an argument for all of that. Do i see things that way? maybe, maybe not. My feelings toward every character who is not Snape are largely indifferent for the most part.
Verdict: Severus Snape is a Cat. He is a little kitten meow meow. Give this man a little cauldron to curl up in asap

this is probably stupid to ask, but do you like snape? or the marauders? there's always fanwars happening between marauders stans and snape stans. tbh i'm just curious where you stand (i like both, and prefer their canon selves rather than the fanon which is btw really stupid. they feminized sirius so much its not even sirius anymore.) what made you like snape? if you do, or are you neutral with him? just for a change of question since i always ask about harry.
Thanks for the ask! I don't think it's stupid.
I prefer their canon counterparts as well, the Marauders fanon has so little to do with canon I can hardly call the characters by the same name. They just aren't the same characters. Anyway, I'm gonna try and summarise my highly subjective opinions about them here.
1. Sirius Black
He's my second most favorite character and my favorite among the characters you mentioned. I wrote about him a lot on this blog, so I don't really feel the need to write more.
But, he's smart, resilient, and goofy on occasion. His love for Harry is one of my favorite aspects of his character because he loves Harry so much. And he has his flaws. He can be cruel, cold, and arrogant and I wouldn't like him as much if he wasn't visibly a member of The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black regardless of how much he tried to get away from his legacy. I love how messy his feelings about his family are. He left Regulus' room as it was, even though the rest of the house got cleaned by the Order. He stayed in his mother's bedroom even when all the conversations he had with her portrait were in screams. I love his distrust in Dumbledore after everything he's been through and how he chooses to remain for Harry's sake — he's willing to do anything for Harry's sake.
I just truly love Sirius.
2. Severus Snape
He's the next on this list because I do like Snape, he's not a character I'm passionate about, but I like him. I think he shouldn't be a teacher (I think he hates being a teacher more than his students hate him teaching them) but he's a talented potion maker and wizard. And he is a very entertaining character, even without knowing everything about him.
But what really makes me like Snape is that I find him interesting. I think his psychology is interesting, as is his dynamic with Lily, Dumbledore, and Voldemort. Snape is a fascinating character to study from a lot of angles, and even as a reader, there is quite a bit that's up in the air about him because he's that good at being a spy and not giving us anything.
The other major thing I like about him is his competence as a spy and wizard. If there's one thing I love in my fictional characters — it's competence (and intelligence). I often joke with my irl friends that Snape is the only competent Death Eater and the only competent member of the Order of the Phoenix. We then joke that if we were in his shoes, surrounded by a lot of people who don't actually do anything and we're the only ones affecting this war from both sides, we'd probably be bitter too.
A little note that seems overlooked about Snape often in the fandom, in general, is how we think, "Oh, he's so great at Occlumancy and not being emotional" — that's not strictly true. When it comes to Lily or the Marauders all his well-crafted Occlumancy kinda goes out the window. In books 3 and 5 he throws actual temper tantrums about Sirius Black. Like, I feel Snape, deep down is actually super not well adjusted and is an emotionally unstable mess, but he learned to pretend otherwise. Basically, all the cold facade is just that — a facade. He isn't really that stoic.
3. James Potter
I'm weird about James. Like, he's almost a nonentity and what we do hear about him is either negative or comes from biased sources.
I do tend to give him more of the benefit of the doubt than a lot of other fans who prefer canon James do. He was awful when he was younger, he was a bully and he assaulted Snape and there is no excuse for his actions. That being said, I can believe he changed. War changes you and you'd be hard-pressed to find a 21-year-old who isn't ashamed of a lot of what they did or said when they were 15. And yes, some of what James did is definitely more extreme than that of the average person, but it isn't that extreme compared to the environment he grew up in. Remus tells Harry everyone was casting Levicorpous on each other in the halls. I'm not saying any of the bullying is okay, I'm just saying it probably seemed normal to him and this is important context. Same as I don't think Snape is abusive towards students when put in the context of their culture and environment where, until recently, they caned students (Snape actually seems very averse to corporeal punishment. He also likely treats Harry very different than he does literally any other student, but this is the James section).
I just, like the idea of James changing for the better. I'd like to think he did. That life and war and loss taught him something.
4. Peter Pettigrew
Probably an unpopular opinion, but I like Pettigrew more than Lupin. He's awful, he's pathetic, he's a cowardly rat man and I find his sniveling funny. Whenever I try to think of a what-if scenario in my head, Pettigrew is somehow the key to it. Because he's a character that affects so much of the plot in some incredibly crucial moments — he betrayed James and Lily, he resurrected the Dark Lord, and later, he allows Harry's survival. Idk, I just find his situation and just how pathetic he could get fascinating. It's, like, there is no rock bottom for this guy, he keeps digging. Like, you can't get more pathetic than living as a rat for 12 years when you could've moved to Argentina or something.
And at the same time, he clearly has some residual care for Harry for his father's friendship. He has so many opportunities to kill Harry or kidnap him when he runs away to join Voldemort — but he doesn't. Even after Sirius escapes and he knows his time is up, he still leaves Harry alive. When he is supposed to kill him in book 7, he doesn't, he again lets him go and pays with his own life for it. Like, again, idk, it's just how I feel.
5. Remus Lupin
I know I placed Lupin last, and it's because I don't personally like him that much. Pretty sure this is a little controversial, but I don't really like book Lupin, he does not vibe with me, at all. (Though I'd choose book Lupin over Marauders fandom Lupin every time)
Like, it bothers me that he doesn't actually care about Harry (the only one on the list who willingly physically harmed Harry, in a moment of anger, but still). It was Harry who asked to be taught the Patronus, if it was up to Remus, he wouldn't be involved in Harry's life at all. He tried to run on his wife when she got pregnant because he was scared. Like, Petttigrew is given shit for being a cowardly Gryffindor, but, look, you need some guts to betray your friends, so I'd argue Remus is the most cowardly Marauder (it's easy to be brave when you don't care for your own life).
But, all of this is part of his character and the story wouldn't be what it is if Remus bothered to get his head out of his own ass and check up on Harry. How he behaves makes him my personal least favorite Marauder, but I want Lupin to be a cowardly guy who runs away from attachment and responsibility because he doesn't trust himself with anything (especially not anything good). He's not cool, or suave, and he's desperate for people to like him but without actually knowing him because he thinks that if they do they'd run away screaming like he wants to run from himself. Honestly, I don't get why the Mauraders fandom made James the people-pleaser when Remus Lupin is right there always telling people what they want to hear so they'd like him.
Again, these are all my own personal subjective opinions, but yeah.

In your grumpy attempt to take care of business yourself, it truly felt like you’d never get there. Maybe it was the bummer of how your date had turned out or maybe you were just exceptionally exhausted, but you were making no headway. Then out of nowhere, your door was ripped open.
“I can’t take this,” your roommate uttered heatedly before marching towards where you laid sprawled out on your bed, effectively scaring your hand away from its lewd mission beneath your fluffy duvet.
“Sirius! What are-,” you nervously adjusted your covers to hide more of your naked form, the intense look in his eye shooting directly to your core, “what are you doing in here?”
Crawling onto the foot of the bed, he sighed, “please just let me take care of you,” his fingers gripping onto the bottom of your duvet.
Blinking hard, you squeeze your thighs together, “excuse me? What do you mean-” you suddenly yelped as he tore off the covers, “Sirius! What are you-”
“Oh, just skip over the bullshit, I don’t have time for you to pretend that there isn’t anything going on between us. So please just let me eat you out. Let me help you fall asleep, give you something good, just a fraction of what you deserve, what that asshat of a date couldn’t give you. Please, Y/n. Just let me take care of you.”

Remus is a PhD student and hobbyist baker who finds himself adrift following his father’s death. On a whim, he enters the Great British Bake Off and is swept up in a flurry of curdled custard, shrunken souffle, and under-proved dough. Remus expects to be challenged and to embarrass himself on public television. Beneath a big blue sky by @eyra
The four-by-four heaves its way down long, twisting lanes, little more than dirt tracks scuffed into the surrounding fields and hemmed in by serpentine walls of flat, grey stone. They truly are in the middle of nowhere: the countryside rushes past, all rolling green hills and vast, endless skies, and it's odious. Sirius wants to murder James with his bare hands. Sirius and James accidentally find themselves on a Yorkshire farm during lambing season. The farmer’s son thinks that’s a bit annoying, actually.
A brief history of dragons by @eyra
It's lovely up here; all meadows dotted with wildflowers, wind-beaten tracks criss-crossing this way and that through the fields, weaving inland to the pinewoods. The sun's hot on his back as he passes ramshackle stone walls, long since crumbled to piles of ancient rubble and scree, and then the path winds downwards, still following the line of the coast until Sirius finds himself outside an old white cottage, tucked away behind the hill with a rose garden that faces out to the sea. Sirius moves to Cornwall for the summer and meets a rude, beautiful boy who is writing a book that may or may not be about dragons
Let’s play pretend by MsAlexWP
After James and Lily died, Sirius Black's therapist told him not to date for a year. And that's just as well. He's got a 13-month-old baby now and quite enough to deal with, thanks. But the nosy neighbors in his building keep trying to set him up and won't take no for an answer. Enter Remus Lupin, another single dad who pretends to be Sirius's boyfriend, just to get the old lady brigade off his back and nothing more. Nothing more at all.

Especially after he meets YouTube star and makeup artist, Sirius Black.
Sugar rush by Stricklymarauders
James, Sirius, Peter, and Dorcas have been best friends for years and are starting their senior year of highschool. To Sirius' dismay he doesn't have any friends in his history class, but after eventually showing up, he finds he sits next to a tall curly hair boy who takes his breath away, Remus Lupin. (sirius and the Marauders are not like good people in this story fyi, I apologise please don't kill me :D )
Thunder
Sirius Black was an intoxicating man.
That was a feature most admired of him yet most feared.
He was exhilarating, he could make you feel as if you are eternal, as if you could fly through the clouds, as if you could stay forever young and naïve.
He was also dangerous. Not dangerous in the sense of crime, but rather in the sense of entrapment. Once you felt the exciting rush that came with the mere presence of Sirius Black, you were trapped. Imprisoned in a constant cycle of happiness, of waiting and of misery.
Imprisonment is not the right word, no. Rather, you willingly stayed, going along with a cycle that became normal. Because no matter what he did, no matter how painful he tugged your heart, you stayed. Your heart was his.
-♡-
Booming music vibrated against the floorboards, yet the roaring laughter of Sirius Black and his friends rung over it.
It was a small gathering, not a party, could not be defined as one with only a handful of people there. All were Sirius' friends, friends that you had met only a couple of times. The person you were closest to the most from his little circle was Lily, yet even then it could barely be called a friendship.
You sat in the corner, feeling the water droplets from the condensation of your cider can running down into your fingertips as you watched Sirius with his friends.
He grinned brightly as James told a story about his job or whatever it was, and laughed when Remus mumbled something whitty.
The girls were talking in the kitchen about something, whilst you waited for Sirius to invite you over to his side. You scolded yourself for being so dependant on him, yet you felt like you had no choice but to depend on him in that situation, when you were surrounded by people you barely knew.
"You OK there?" You lifted your head up to Lily, who smiled softly at you, holding a wine glass in her hand.
You nodded and took a sip of your cider.
"Yeah, are you?"
She nodded and took a sip of her wine.
"Can't complain."
She then sat down next to you and glanced over at her fiancée talking to your boyfriend.
"How're you and Sirius?"
Not good. Not healthy. Stuck in a loop of arguing and apologising. Yet you would not exchange it, would not leave him, for anything.
"Good. You and James?" You replied.
"Never better." Lily smiled whilst gazing at James with such adoration in her eyes.
James felt her gaze, like their minds and souls were connected, and smiled at Lily, looking at her in a way that showed his strong love for her, in a way that made everyone know just how much James Potter truly treasured his future wife.
It wasn't fair. It felt cruel watching their love, seeing the way his smile only grew whilst her cheeks deepened in its red colour.
Sirius seemingly had forgotten you were there in the corner, talking loudly to his three friends.
"God, you lot have no idea how frustrating it is to date someone so needy and desperate and clingy. I just want her to fuck off, you know? To just leave me alone sometimes and... I don't know, cling to someone else."
The group laughed in shock to his words.
"No, I'm not joking, honestly if she came home and said she wants an open relationship or some shit, I'd be relieved. Maybe she'd give me a fucking breather or something." Sirius mumbled, grinning when James patted his shoulder whilst chuckling about how 'awful' he is.
"Oh my God, I can't believe he said that." Lily gasped, staring at Sirius with wide eyes as if she was suprised.
You knew she wasn't. You knew she expected that of him, that she knew how harsh he could be with his words. How he broke hearts as if it was nothing but a bit of fun to him.
"It's OK." You murmured, plastering a smile on your face whilst your eyes turned glassy.
This was not the first time you had pretended you were not hurt by him, and it wouldn't be the last. You would let him say the most vile things about you as long as he would come to you with open arms and hold you delicately like you were his everything.
Because you believed you were. Like he was your everything. You loved him. And you believed he loved you. Even if the only times he would say it was when he was inside you.
"Really? You're not gonna say anything to him?" The red-haired girl raised her eyebrow at you, staring at your smile as you stared at Sirius.
You didn't answer her.
"If that was James saying that, I'd throw my ring at his head." Lily murmured whilst lifting her glass to take a sip of her wine.
Her words stung, made you feel like you were a weak, stupid girl.
You weren't. You were in love. You were addicted to Sirius Black.
Lily then left your side to go join the other girls, and you felt truly alone.
Then he looked at you.
Just one glance, one second before he turned away.
And you felt like you had everything you needed right there, with him.
-♡-
It was midnight when you both returned to your shared apartment.
Sirius was drunk, although he argued he was only tipsy whilst slurring his words, and you were sober. You were always the sober one whilst he was always the drunk one, and it would always lead to something different, something that he would say once and never again.
He stumbled into the living room when you unlocked the front door, immediately taking off his shoes and throwing them somewhere that you would have to find the next day.
He unbuttoned his white shirt all the way but left it hanging on his shoulders, and he walked over to the wall-length mirror, pointing at his tattoos and smiling whilst he explained the meaning of them to you.
You grinned, already knowing the meaning of them all, but you let him explain nonetheless.
"We-we should get matching tattoos." He gasped, turning to face you.
"Yeah?" You smiled, knowing he didn't mean it, knowing he would forget he even thought of it the next morning, yet you would still cling to the idea of having an imprint of you on his skin forever.
He nodded enthusiastically and walked over to you, wrapping his arms around your waist.
"Yeah, we could get hearts or flowers or something..." Sirius trailed off, bending down to nuzzle your neck, sighing like he had found his permanent home.
You ran your fingers through his soft hair whilst your other hand rested on the back of his neck, letting yourself relax in his arms.
Unexpectedly, he picked you up and began spinning around, laughing whilst you squealed but joined in with his laughter.
"I'm dizzy." He murmured, and he stopped spinning, yet he still held you like you were a fragile doll.
Before you could say anything, Sirius walked over to the couch and dropped onto it, groaning as you fell with him.
You shook your head whilst chuckling, moving to straddle him as you brushed his hair out of his eyes.
He was gazing up at you like you were the Sun, like you were a goddess, like you were his everything.
"I'm gonna marry you."
You froze.
"W-What?"
He smiled in a goofy way, moving his hand to caress your cheek whilst the other cupped your jaw.
"I'm gonna marry you." He repeated, firmer in his voice, and you kissed him.
You didn't say anything, not even when he called you his bride, not when a couple days after he told you he wanted four children with you, not when two weeks after he told you he wanted to grow old with you.
You didn't say anything when he ignored you, when he complained about you to his friends, when he stepped too close to pretty girls in bars and clubs.
You didn't say anything because deep down, you knew he didn't mean any of it. Yet you still loved him. You always would.
Even if he came home at 4am smelling of beer and perfume, even if he pretended you didn't exist, even if he didn't care when his friends talked shit about you.
You would always end up in his arms.

okay but like how instrumental is snape to voldemort's victory, really? it's obvi very slay of him to be the deciding factor in whether or not the war is won, but assuming the scenario in which he just doesn't give a fuck about voldemort going after lily and her sons and therefore feels no need to switch sides and atone, does he do enough to still have a hand in how things play out?
like, from a meta standpoint, snape as a character is very dependent on his love, his devotion, and his sense of responsibility, so a universe in which he's deprived of that is one where he never bothers to ask voldemort to spare lily at all, and it's someone else's love that wraps up the story and delivers the message all nice and cute with a pretty little bow on top.
however, just for the sake of allowing my boy to be fucked and fucked up (as a treat), what do you think happens if he doesn't defect? he's already asked for her life to spared, but let's say that he forgives voldemort for his, ah, misfortune, in being defied by the potter girl. lily was something of a spitfire, and it's only natural that she would've done what she did. so he shrugs and continues making murder potions and doing other such death eating activities, and what then? what goes on with the war?
does he help quirrel steal the stone instead of doing his part to guard it? does he work with pettigrew to restore their lord to his former not-a-wraith glory once it's revealed that they've been working towards the same goal? does he just let harry fall off his broom and die?
bro, the potential tension from people (so many people but mostly sirius) thinking he never changed and them being right and not finding out until it's too late??
like ik some people go really overboard with how much spying he actually did and how good he really was at it, but the potential in there is truly delightful. i like thinking about it even if i know that logically it would've just ended up being a different love and a different sacrifice in the event that he's not driven to atone for his sins and subsequently grow to believe in what he's really fighting for.
what do you think? what does the universe with your evil/loyaldeatheater!snape look like?
scenario one:
if snape doesn't ask him to spare lily, voldemort wins. there's nobody else he's going to care enough about to make him offer her the choice to stand aside.
[and he realises this - since he tells the death eaters in goblet of fire that lily's refusal to going along with the chance to spare herself is what caused the curse to backfire - and so the fact that he gets over it the second he sees snape again is all the proof snapemort nation need that our ship is canon...]
deathly hallows obscures this [in pursuit of its narrow good-versus-evil narrative] and the films take that and run with it [by making voldemort look like an idiot] but the clear implication of canon is that if voldemort either doesn't go to the potters' or goes but doesn't offer lily a choice... then, come 1st november 1981, he's victorious. it's a classic bit of "the villain would get what they want were it not for their own hubris".
scenario two:
if snape does ask him to spare lily and then believes he actually will, meaning he doesn't defect, voldemort is still blasted into the ether by the force of love tm, and then resurrected the same way he is in canon, since arthur weasley is still going to win his luxury egyptian holiday, meaning sirius is still going to see the picture of wormtail and wormtail is still going to flee to his master to escape him [even if lupin, who would have nobody to brew him the wolfsbane, isn't employed at hogwarts].
snape just wouldn't be working at hogwarts at the time.
whether he gets his job there - and whether he therefore just headshots harry the second he sets foot in the school - depends on whether he decides to pretend to have been under the imperius curse or not and whether dumbledore decides to believe him.
[since he gets off being tried in canon - meaning he's known to the ministry, perhaps because karkaroff isn't the only captured death eater who names him - because he's already switched sides and dumbledore vouches for him. if he's not going to pretend to defect, then this is the only option available.]
lucius malfoy would definitely advise him to do this, but i can also see snape being got in a similar way to augustus rookwood - that is, since his role was espionage, rather than combat, he would have got away with things if somebody hadn't dobbed him in.
rookwood clearly doesn't take the same stance as bellatrix - if karkaroff didn't get him arrested, he was undoubtedly going to try and lurk undetected in the department of mysteries until he reached retirement age, rather than having no intention of obscuring his death eater connections - but he also clearly doesn't disavow voldemort once he's on the stand. i think there's a high chance of snape intending to go to ground when voldemort disappears, only to be sent to azkaban when the finger-pointing starts by telling barty crouch sr. he thinks he's a dickhead and voldemort's great.
which voldemort - who regards being sent to prison as the least his minions could do for him - would like.
it's clear from the fact that percy weasley is beefing with him by name in deathly hallows that rookwood is sent back to the ministry once the coup happens. a post-azkaban snape would, therefore, go back into whatever he was doing before voldemort's fall. aka making potions and being his live-in boyfriend.

The first try failed miserably.
When he returned to himself, Lupin was by his side, helping him up. "It's alright. I didn't expect you to do it the first time. That would have been remarkable." He pulled a chocolate bar from his pocket. "Here, eat this. You'll feel better."
Harry could still feel the cold, the icy grip on his heart, the numbness. "That was one nasty Dementor."
"Oh, no. That was a Boggart, Harry. The real thing would have been a lot worse."
Lupin started to relight the candles with his fingers while Harry scrambled back to his feet.
"As a matter of interest, what were you thinking?" "The first time I rode a broom."
Lupin turned toward him. "That's not good enough, not nearly." Harry tried not to be disappointed. Deep inside, he knew there was only one right memory. One time he had felt truly comfortable in his own skin. But it was wrong and strange... and yet...
"There's another... It's the happiest I've ever felt. But it's complicated", he explained, not daring to look at the teacher.
"Is it strong?"
Harry nodded, heart pounding.
"Then let's give it a try. Do you feel ready?" He drew his wand, pointing it at the chest.
"Just do it." This time when Lupin opened the chest, he felt more confident. He remembered what it had been like.
The sudden change of his body. Long black hair, softer curves, wider hips, a different voice... He remembered finally seeing herself in the mirror. The pure euphoria. She remembered people laughing, but it didn't matter because, for the first time in her life, she had felt beautiful.
The stag burst out of the tip of the wand, cornering the Dementor until it was back in its prison. Lupin looked up in wonder.
"Fucking hell! Sorry. You didn't hear that. That was amazing. Truly wonderful, here..." He pulled his chocolate out again, while Harry wiped away a few tears. Why was she- he- she crying? A look of concern crossed the teacher's face. "Let's take a break, shall we."
Without a word, Harry sat on the stairs, staring at the wall.
"Do you want to talk about this memory?" The kid hesitated. She trusted Lupin. Something about his calm, warm way made him seem like he could make the entire world be okay.
"It was a prank Malfoy pulled on me last year... He... turned me into a girl. It's stupid. I don't even know why it affected me that much, but it just felt right. I know it's not. I'm a boy, I always have been, but I... I felt so comfortable for the next few hours."
"Har-" Lupin interrupted himself. "Listen, I'm not pretending to be all-knowing. Only you can know who you are and how you feel, but I would like to tell you about two friends of mine who might have had similar experiences."
The thirteen-year-old looked up. It was obviously not easy for the teacher to talk about this, but he continued anyway. "They were siblings. One was born as a boy, the other as a girl. But it turned out that neither of those terms really fit them. The 'girl' felt more comfortable with short hair and the other sibling's clothes, because they didn't show off as much of the body. Soon this child decided to tell their friends to refer to him with 'he', rather than 'she'. Not long after he changed his name. And the people who truly cared about him accepted it. He was a lot happier that way and felt more like himself. He changed his appearance permanently."
"So he lived as a boy? And people were just fine with that?" "Well, not everyone obviously. But there will always be people who don't agree with who you are or how you present yourself. He just made sure people disliked who he really was." Lupin gave her a small smile.
"What about your other friend?" His gaze grew distant. "He never cared what people thought of him. One of the bravest people I ever knew." Probably without even knowing it his thumb traced one of the scars on his hand. "He would change his appearance and how people referred to her based on her mood. Some days she felt more like a woman, others like a man, others like none. Not caring what anyone had to say about it. Just because he knew he only had limited time on this earth and she wasn't going to waste any of it." He took a deep breath and looked over to her again.
"Do you see yourself in either of them?" "I... I don't know. Can you maybe try it out? Talking about me with she?" the professor nodded. "Of course", he turned toward an imaginary audience. "This is my student. She managed to summon a patronus today, and as her teacher, I am very proud of her. She likes to play Quidditch, but sadly her broom broke a few weeks ago. I hope she finds a new one that will equally serve its purpose." Lupin looked at her again, who couldn't help but smile.
"So you like it?" "Yes. It... I can't even describe it. Just... yes." She grinned widely, but then hesitated. "What about a name?" "Do you want a new one? You don't have to change anything you don't want to change." "I would like a new name, but... Well, my parents gave it to me and- "Your parents were two of the most supportive and accepting people in the world. They would have loved you, regardless of your gender or name; regardless of anything. You don't need to worry about them."
Slowly she nodded. "Can I just pick any name?" "Anyone you like. It doesn't need to be right away either, you can take as much time as you need. You can choose it when you're 70 or 110." "Do you know, if my parents had any ideas if I was.. born a girl?" Lupin thought for a while.
"In general, the Potters have a tradition of naming their kids after themselves. You have your father's first name as your second name, he had his father's name as a second name. So you could use Lily as a second name if you want to keep that going. Other than that your mom was very keen on naming you after one of their friends, but James thought that would get confusing very quickly. Now I don't believe that will be a problem anymore. You almost would have been named... after your godfather. As for female friends; There were Marlene and Mary, who were your mother's best friends. We used to call them the Valkyries. Marlene had a very close friend called Dorcas, also a brilliant woman. And then there was Pandora, who... was also very close to your mother. And of course, your grandmother, Euphemia."
"Pandora Lily Potter... Pandora Potter." She let the name roll off her tongue a few times. "I think I like that one..." Professor Lupin smiled. "Do you think I can tell my friends?" "I don't know. You need to manage that yourself. However, if you are looking for support, I know that Professor McGonagall, Madame Pomfrey and Professor Sprout will not let anyone treat you badly because of that. And neither will I."
Pandora nodded and rose from the stairs. "Can we maybe continue practice another time? I have a lot to think about." "Of course. Take as much time as you need. You have done amazing today. Much better than I ever anticipated. I'll see you in classes then, Pandora..."

An Early Christmas Present
‐-------------
This is the first not school related thing I have written in years. Its also completely self indulgent and for the most part something I personally experienced.
Barely proofread
Warnings: mentions of blood - this is fluff otherwise -
Words: 1.7k
Remus Lupin x gn!reader - no pronouns mentioned
Just a couple of months ago your close friends James and Lily had finally gotten married. It was a small ceremony but that didnt lessen the love or joy everyone felt. It was a long time coming, James had spent years pining after Lily doing whatever he could think of to get her to notice him.
Money is tight but still you lay there on your couch. Your long time boyfriend Remus laying between your legs peacfully reading. Your hand in his hair relishing in the close peacefulness, the book you hold in your other hand being long forgotten as your mind wanders. Christmas is soon and with that comes a plan to show Remus just how deep your adoration for him truly runs.
You can't help but laugh at him when he puts a Christmas tree ornament around his ear, mimicking something Sirius had made days prior. "Minerva was no different, you know? Cats and their small paws and high and mighty attitudes." He sneered while trying to hold in his laughter.
Tinsel is absolutely everywhere. Draped over furniture and little pieces scattered on the floor. Its easy. Sorted. Most importantly, it isn't in the way of the war currently raging just a few feet away. Swears are flying like the snowflakes outside.
You and Remus are tangled together fighting for your lives against the lights. You would swear they have a mind if their own, its the only explanation how they could tangle so severely after after being carefully put into storage. Would it have been easier with magic? Probably. Did either even remember that you could USE said magic? Not at all. The lights wrap tightly around you the plasric is cold against your skin contrasting greatly from the warmth of your boyfriend's hands trying to free you both.
As the lights are finally untangled you can see the tension leave his body. The way the light from the fire reflects off the bulb into his face is enchanting. You never minded the scars. Each time he came back from the nights of the full moons with a new wound you were there helping him heal. He hated it at first.
The marauders had a lot of secrets. They were pranksters sure, but you know better than most. Midnight escapades to the restricted section of the ancient library hell you were one of the few people who knew they're animagi. Remus shares everything with you. You let out a frustrated groan shoving yourself off out of your bed. The wooden floor creaks with your weight as you make your way out to the common room. Your eyes fall onto a familar head of red hair.
"Hey Lils, why are you up so late?" You ask her quietly trying your best to not startle her at the unholy hour of 3am. She turns her head with a slight gasp. Startled er anyway. Her eyes are puffy and her face is painted with the stains of freshly dried tears. The second you start to hurry to her side the tears come back. So you wait. You silently hold one of your closest friends into your shoulder until she's alright. It doesn't matter how long it takes.
"They-They're usually back by now. Why aren't they back?" She chokes out her words asking you a question you don't have the slightest understanding of. The scratching as they come out is audible. The guys. Your guys. You know they go ot and do whatever it is they do once a month, 'boys night' they assure you. Why would Lily be sobbing with worry lacing her voice because they're late returning from boys night? Your thoughts are short by the door to the common room opening. Their voices. Hushed. Worried. Tired.
"God Moony, you could at least pretend like you're trying to walk." James's voice was quiet but in the otherwise silent common room he might as well have been yelling. It earned him a growl from Remus. No reort or quip. Thats when you noticed the blood. Oh the blood. It covered his shirt, his arms, and even his face. You couldn't see Remus's entire face but you saw enough through the brown curls that shielded you from the worst of it. The others didn't look much better. You want to go to him, need to go but something is stopping you. A hand. A well manicured hand connected to a Lily who's demeanor isn't far different from any of the guys. She shakes her head, such a simple action has tears coming to your own eyes. If she spoke you aren't sure. Your heart is beating so hard you cannfeel it in your skull. The tears don't come until Sirius looks up and makes eye contact with you. He mutters something under his breath as his face contorts from pain to panic.
You didn't know it back then of course, but looking back it was pretty obvious that you'd fall in love with him. That'd youd move in together and do everything you could to make the pain just a little bit more bearable.
"Rem dear? Can we paint a Christmas ornament this year? It'd be cute to exchange them Christmas Eve." Your voice is soft, gentle. The smile on your face reminds him of the day after you found out he's a werewolf. After you yelled at them for 10 minutes straight about danger, lying, and worrying Lily.
"Of course dove. That sounds like a wonderful idea!" His voice is chipper. A similar tone to his old days of pranking. A plan was hatching you just weren't sure what. It was mutual.
You sat at the table paint in hand doing your best to get the lettering just right. He's the love of your life and if it's going to take a little extra effort to make this special it was worth it. The table likely disagreed. Different colored paints are everywhere, different brushes, and oh the water cup that you put nxt to your now inedible tea. The letters on the sphere spelling ' WILL YOU MAR' taunting you. It doesn't matter how nice your hand writing is, once its on an ornament you've never written in your life.
You put the long finished and dried ornament on the back of the tree. It'll be better if he works for it you think. The fire is still young, it'll grow in a short amount of time, likely full size by the time your teas cool enough to drink. A content sigh escapes through your lips as you look around. Your home is small but its full of love and memories. Remus has had trouble finding work due to his affliction, but that isn't to say he does nothing. He works odd jobs and when there's nothing he makes sure your house is tidy and fixes whatever he can if it breaks. He will never admit how guilty he feels, but you know. Each book on the shelves, each cup on the cupboard, and even each stitch in the quilt you made together shows the amount of care you have for eachother. The pain just as much as the love.
Remus gets up quickly, only a moment after finishing his tea. You watch as he takes a breath and gently takes your hand in his. His hand is calloused and scarred but the feel the feeling is familar and calming. Each scar a mark of honor to you, but another thing to be ashamed of to him. He brings you next to the tree and prompts you to close your eyes. It feels like an eternity before you feel something round in your hand.
"Yours is on the tree love. I'm sure you'll be able to find it." You dont open your eyes until you finish your sentence. His bavk is already turned to you, not that you could complain you feel like you're going to throw up. This is it after all. Your relationship is about to permanently change one way or another. Anxiety seems reasonable to you. You look over the ornament in your hand, scanning it mindlessly at first lost in your own thoughts. You can't tell Remus has nearly stopped breathing as he searches the tree slowly.
A laugh. You can't stop it before it comes out. Written in sloppy letters are the words you spent forever painting. 'Will you be mine forever?' There's even a heart. You slap your hand over your mouth immediately after the laugh. You saw his shouders and back flinch at the sound, just as you watched his hand close around your equally sloppily painted proposal. He straightens up but doesn't turn around.
"I know we don't have a lot of money, and I know you could do and deserve so much better than me and what I can offer." He pauses to calm his breathing completely unaware of the tears threatening to spill from your eyes "But please dove. I will always do whatever I can to make you happy and you will never regret saying yes. I love you and I solemnly swear I will always love you."
You cant answer. Your brain is reeling and your lungs can't keep up. Another laugh, with this one the tears come. The only thing you can do to try to ease his growing dread is to take hold of his wrist. Giggling, you can't stop yourself. It's not cute, its a mix of giggles and cries as you try to speak. His arm is tense you can feel his hesitation, like a statue not fully carved. You quickly tap at the ornament in his hand. He gets the hint you assume, because you hear him laugh. You feel hin relax under your touch. You probably sound insane to anyone passing by your quaint little home. His lips are soft against yours. They've never felt more perfect. He pulls you in, his arms holding you close, you wrap your arms around him trying to pull him even closer to you.
Your little home so full of love and life has never felt more comfortable than in this moment. This perfect moment with your fiancé. With the perfect plan to propose at the same time.
Neither of you needed a ring. You'd get them eventually, but there was nothing that could've made this moment any more precious.

A Sirius Rant
I want to be able to talk about how much I hate Sirius Black in a "I love his character" kind of way and not a "hater" kind of way.
Like I could about how every little action he takes pisses me off but its coming from a 😍 energy not a 😡 energy.
The dude was mentally unstable before going into Azkaban and afterwords he was an unknown amount of worse. You want me to believe that he actually cared about Harry for Harry? When he couldn't do that in the first place?
He made the choice to seek revenge for his best friend (the man he loved most in the entire world) rather than do the thing he was asked to do? Aka take care of Harry. This grief stricken insane young man made an impulsive decision, but it was still HIS decision. He chose his grief and revenge over taking care of his godson. His best friends son.
Then he ended up in Azkaban, lost his mind further and then was able to escape because REVENGE inspired him. Not Harry, not the safety of his godson. But seeing the dude who got his bff killed got this man to break out of a prison that was supposed to be unbreakable?!
He didn't do that for Harry, he did it for James/Himself.
THEN, he goes to see Harry just to see how much he looks like James.
He is constantly comparing Harry to James (His looks, his actions, his talents) nothing Harry does is of his own making to Sirius. It is all coming from Sirius.
Like this dude time and time again just can't see Harry for Harry. He is so broken over what happened to him that his death in the end was probably the best thing that happened to him in all that time. He got to pretend he went out fighting alongside James, and then got to see James in the afterlife.
And AND (this is just my personal opinion) Sirius is so CLEVER. He is so smart and talented with everything he did you can't TELL ME he couldn't have found a way to better keep in contact with Harry. You can't tell me he couldn't have found a better way for Harry to see him during OOTP in the summer.
Harry was left alone in a place that was void of love to suffer and... he just was going to leave him there? In a place that had tons of protection? This clever brave man who would have moved the heavens for James did nothing for Harry. He chose to stay at the order so he could ONCE AGAIN focus on his revenge and grief for the man he lost.
Sirius never truly loved Harry, and Harry deserves better than Sirius Black.
But also also, damn. Poor Sirius. Black madness gets them one way or another grief is a horrible way to go.
In fan-fiction, I know i've been recced a few fics before but I would LOVE to see more of... Sirius actually loving Harry for Harry. Like getting redemption and stepping up to be the clever and brave man he once was just so he could be Harry's Godfather. To truly love and care for him.

I’m sorry to “Sirius would have died before revealing where the Potters were” truthers but I genuinely believe that if Voldemort had threatened to torture Moony in front of him or worse force Moony to do something, he would have caved too.
Its been years since Ive interacted with canon!HP content but Peter saying the Dark Lord had his ways always struck me. Like how could he? I can’t rmb much about Canon!Peter but in my head, the marauders are this tight knit grp that would have done anything for each other. I sincerely believe that James and Sirius probably defended Peter against bullying and Pete was definitely there helping Sirius (and Reg) escape Grimmauld. I really think even if he did betray them, it was due to some horrific threats. Like maybe they threatened his sick single mum or like they killed his lover in front of him or idk man SOME SICK SHIT. And, then, he ran cause he remembered that Sirius is unhinged.
I don’t think if he was in the right mind, he would have killed the muggles. And, I also don’t think Sirius would just kill Pete. I think AND THIS IS HOW DELULU I AM Pete would’ve tried to send a patronus to warn them but he couldnt cause he couldn’t conjure a happy memory. I think he wouldn’t have let Sirius go to Azkhaban (anyways, even in canon, I still dg why they didnt just veritaserum or pensieve him).
In my head, Pete probably escaped the death eaters by turning into an animagus and hiding till the coast was clear and Sirius managed to adopt Harry or Mary or whoever managed to adopt Harry. I also think he would have waited till Remus came back to reveal that he was there. And, I truly believe the marauders would have forgiven him.
Honestly, Ive rejected so much canon that I’m at a point where canon is just DeathEater!Peter AU. Idk guyssss like maybe I’m just a sucker for the Marauders sticking tgt but ANYWAYS thats my take. Idk why im such a “Peter deserved better writing” truther but i mean thats just my HC.
P.s. i hc that Pete was a triple agent. In an everybody lives au I think he would sneak into Hogwarts as a rat and pretend to be Harry’s familiar. He probably also gives really good gifts.
P.s.s. I personally love AceSpec Peter because it would make sense why two inept boys in the 70s would have chosen him as the secret keeper. Because in James and Sirius stupid romance-centric mind, Pete would have been the only one without an S/o to blackmail him w. And, thats what ultimately led to their downfall.

Tumblr media
July, 1979
There was a sense of nostalgia when Sirius entered the breakfast nook. It almost felt as if he was walking one summer morning in the Potters residence, trekking barefooted down carpeted steps to where he could hear laughter and happiness. Though it was well into the month of July, the sense of summer holidays had all but been done for. Had been for roughly a year now.
Still, he could pretend. Though with the added picture of one Lily Evans, soon to be Potter, in front of the hot, stone hearth.
“And that's the last of them.” Lily chirped as she took out freshly baked buns before placing them on the metal racks to her left to cool. “Morning, Sirius! You beat James today.”
He lets out a sleepy laugh, feels the warmth it brings from within and settles on a high stool that's against the wall separating the nook from the kitchen. “I'm not surprised, Remus had him by the antlers in the last quidditch game last night.”
They had all gathered for the weekend, Remus taking the two days off from his internship in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Using his status as a werewolf as an excuse to “further his data collection” and whatnot. He's aiming to change the views that his kind gets. Working hard in getting the public to understand the circumstances of his situation. It hasn't been long, but there's hope.
Peter had been the one to leave first. Having to go pick up his wife from his in-laws. It came as a shock to everyone in their group. All of them had thought James would be the one to propose and marry first. Alas, Peter had beaten him to it. So far that when Peter had announced to them Charity’s pregnancy over Saturday dinner, James almost fainted. Married and pregnant all within a span of seven months was a feat only Peter could have pulled off. Of course everyone was beyond delighted. Fleamont had gone to the cellar and brought up his favourite scotch that he keeps for special occasions such as this.
Truly a special day; the next generation of The Marauders. Sirius couldn't wait.
“Well, that's no excuse to sleep in late.” Lily states as she takes off the apron from around her neck and waist. “I'll go wake him up. Mum and dad are waiting for us to eat breakfast with them. Will you come too?”
Sirius ponders her question. Both Effie and Monty had gone out for breakfast themselves. Save for the staff and house elves, the manor would be left empty. Ah, fuck it, he had nothing better to do but sleep the day away. Might as well meet the people who will become James' family come September.
“I'll come. I've always wondered if your family has red hair like you.”
“You will be sorely disappointed.” Laughs Lily as she leaves the kitchen to wake her fiancé.
Sirius doesn't reply. Instead, he hops off the stool and steals a still hot bun from the rack, needing to blow just a bit to speed up its cooling.
It takes James thirty-seven minutes to leave his bed, shower, and get dressed. Really, considering the circumstances, it could be a new record. He usually takes an hour in the shower alone. Dressed in a simple dark grey jumper and jeans, James enters the breakfast nook where Sirius was reading the cookbook Lily had left out.
“I haven't felt this sore after flying since first year. Merlin, you stop riding for a few months and it all goes out the window.” James laments as he struggles to clip his watch on. “I swear my nethers looked a bit swollen!”
Sirius laughs when Lily shows up, slapping the back of his head with her scarf, “Henry James Potter, you will cease with your vulgarity!”
Pushing past them, she then goes to fist up a good amount of Floo powder before entering the fireplace. With a glare directed at James, Lily lets the glittery powder fall as she clearly pronounces her destination. "The Trolls’ Stool, Manchester!”
Like The Leaky Cauldron in London, The Trolls Stool was a gateway into the Wizarding fold through a wall-sized mirror at the back of the restaurant. In their case, the Floo channel was one that was open all hours of the day. Since Lily's parents were still Muggles, there was no way the Ministry would allow for their fireplace to be turned into a Floo channel. Hence the reason they travelled to the restaurant in the first place. From there, it's a simple twenty minute cab drive to 19 Finchley Grove, Spinner’s End.
Lily's childhood home was—like most others across Europe—semi attached to its neighbour's right. Built in red-orange bricks and brown roof tiles, its door is a similar colour to its exterior. Two steel gates attached to a brick fence separate the home from the walking path. Lily instructs the cab driver to turn in through the larger of the fences that's already opened, a middle-aged man stands by, waving as they drive by.
When Sirius exits the vehicle, the man is making his way towards them, a bright smile on his face as he goes to hug Lily. Her father, he figures, if not from the familiarity, then from the shade of green their eyes share.
“There you are, Flower, I was beginning to think you two had run into some sort of trouble!” mused the man as Lily returned the hug with enthusiasm only a daughter who hasn't seen her father in years—though it's only been days—could muster. Sirius took the time to look around the spacious porch. Squared tiles line the ground, leading to the front steps, flower beds keeping them company.
“That would be my fault, Charlie.” James explained as he rounded the cab to accept the opened arms of both his fiancee and future father-in-law, creating a bubble of warmth. Sirius listens absentmindedly as he comes closer to the flowers. There's so many, yet he only notices four different kinds. The pink roses were the most recognizable, their colouring a vibrant pink with pale whites on their insides. Behind their shrubs, tall stems with long leafs and white bulbs not yet sprouted provide a nice contrast. To the other side, more white flowers, although significantly smaller, make up the bed to vivacious violet.
There's another kind of flower, ways to the back, almost covered up completely by the natural greenery of the rest. Sirius could make out the telltale signs of a deep blue before his attention was lured back to his friends.
“Hey, Sirius!” The flowers were left forgotten as he makes his way back, Lily has a hand outstretched to him and she grabs his own once he was close enough. “Let me introduce you!” She gestures to the hearty man in front of them, "This is Dad,” her hand comes back to him, “Dad, this is Sirius Black, James’ best mate.”
“A pleasure to meet you,” Sirius steals a quick glance to Lily, his grin reaching his eyes, “Dad.”
Lily's dad laughs at her groan as he accepts his handshake. “Charlie Evans, but feel free to call me Dad if you so wish.”
Sirius mirrors his laugh, it's been so long since he had smiled as much as he has this past month. The life of an Heir is no sweet feat as others think it is. As soon as his graduation dinner was over and done with, his mother wasted no time in shipping him out of the country to visit all Black estates around Europe. A whole year of travelling, only staying in one place for a couple of weeks at a time took a toll on him.
His last stop before James had sent him a wedding invitation, he was overseeing the pearl farms the family had in Romania. He left not a day later, stating he had personal business back home to attend to. The family incharge of taking care of the farms were—of course—understanding and bid him a safe journey home. Sirius decided it would be in his best interest to inform his mother of his early departure himself, therefore he asked the family to let their Lord know that there was no reason for him to notify Lady Black of his conclusion. And Sirius did. The day after he arrived in London and was well on his way to the Potter Mansion.
Sirius follows James and Lily inside, meanwhile Charlie stays behind to pay the cab driver making sure to lock the gate closed after its departure. The interior shares the same feeling as the outside. Warm and cosy, with the family room being the first to welcome guests. The wall that connects with the neighbours has the hearth, its brick as red as the fire itself; its stone as black as the soot that makes up its bed. On the opposite side, two suede lawson sofas are positioned in an L shape with a one seater in between. A bay window, almost the same height as the wall, illuminates the room with natural light, its own sofa littered with pillows and books for whoever claims the spot for a leisurely afternoon.
A door could be heard closing through the beaded curtains that lead further into the rest of the home. Now that they're inside, Sirius removes his jumper. Folding it over his arm as he continues his solo tour of the room where he once again stops in front of the fireplace and picks up a frame. Two young girls sit on a grassy field surrounded by white blossoms. The older, blonde girl was sitting behind the younger redhead, braiding it in messy knots.
Lily's sister, he deduces.
Chatter increases in the other room, so he heads towards it, leaving his jumper on the arm of one of the sofas. Lily was hugging a petite woman, hair tied up in a tight bun on top of her head.
Blonde, just like Lily's sister, just like her father. She really is the only redhead in her family. Lily could easily be mistaken for a Prewett with her hair colouring. A Weasley at it, too, were it not for her green eyes.
That's a queer thing when it comes to Wizarding families. Eye colours, that is, especially those with Noble Blood as some call themselves. The Prewett's are differentiated from the Weasley’s by their rich brown eyes. A clear contrast from the Weasley's clear blues.
Although… On his travels, he came across a Prewett that married into the Weasley family. Depending on which one of their Magic manifests on their children will determine their colours. But there is no denying that their hair will be red.
As for Lily's and James', if they ever have children, he has a feeling that her genes will fight through Jame's blood.
As for himself, the Black family is famous for their storming greys. Unless paired with another noble family, they will always be grey.
He noticed Charlie enter the house after his wife, preferably having gone round the back after locking up the gate. He was holding a basket with some kind of red produce inside.
“And you must be Sirius!” He turned towards the bubbling voice beside him and had but a moment before he was captured in another tight hug. When let go, the sturdy arms that had wound up around him were now cradling his face. “My, but aren't you as handsome as James said!”
It happened so quickly that Sirius was left overwhelmed by the time he looked upon the woman, Lily's mother, who had the brightest green eyes he had ever seen. Even more so than that of her daughters’. It was not a joke when he thought that the sunlight reflecting off her eyes was blinding. If one could withstand the glare, he's sure they would be able to see their own reflection on them.
“Hullo,” he managed to greet with two hands partially squishing his cheeks, making it a bit difficult to speak. “You have lovely eyes.”
She beamed at him, wrinkles crowning said eyes as she brought him in for another hug. “Charming too!”
Sirius stepped back once he was released again, he will admit that he'd missed physical contact with all the professionalism he had to display on his travels. He felt the same warmth from earlier coiling inside him, making him feel like the very buns Lily had baked.
“Where are my manners! Margaret Evans, but please, call me Daisy.” She, Daisy, extends her hand. Sirius accepts it, then, in a very Sirius-fashion, brings it to his lips and gives it a small, gentle kiss.
“Very enchanted, Dame Marguerite.” he makes sure to accentuate his mother’s tongue, the r’s fluidly rolling. “A beautiful name, for a beautiful flower.”
Margaret, Daisy, lets out a laugh. Her unoccupied hand reaches towards his face as she gently pats his cheek with fondness. “And a total flirt, just as my Lily had said.”
He looks towards the couple who were busy setting up the table with cutlery with a raised brow, “I see I've been exposed.”
“All good things!” swears James, but Sirius notices the way the tip of his ears turn pink, as they always do when he's not being exactly truthful. They turn even more red at Sirius’ intense stare.
“And complaints—about how lonely he's been without Padfoot.” Adds Lily, “Skulking about the manors’ forested land as Prongs before he comes back inside, wrapping himself up in that invisibility cloak of his in front of the fireplace.”
James had gone completely red in the face, his hazel eyes pronounced even more by the flush over his tan skin. “I do not “skulk about”! Prongs needs his runs!”
Charlie returns to the table from where he had been washing the cherry tomatoes that were brought in from outside. Now, in a light yellow bowl, he sets them on the centre. Sirius nears the table at his gesture to the chair closest to the backyard doors. It's a comfortable size, so when he's joined by Daisy to his right, they have enough elbow space to reach for the breakfast Charlie had finished setting down while Lily and James were still conversing.
“And the cloak?” Lily asked, coming closer with a creamer, settling it in front of her mother.
Jame's face couldn't have turned more red, but it seemed like Lily's question could very well push for it to happen. “It's warm!”
Laughter encircled the breakfast table and Sirius would undoubtedly miss it once it's time for him to return to his duties. But for now, he enjoys this peaceful morning with his dear friends and their lovely family. And although he's content with the way his life is turning out, he still feels like there is something missing. Feels it in the deepest parts of his chest. And he won't know what it is, not until he stumbles across a young girl. One he's seen in passing through the corridors of a massive castle, always followed close by her brother who, with the exception of his curly hair, shares the same features as her.
He won't know what it is until he gazes down at the young girl’s eyes. The same deep blue eyes as a boy he once knew.

James x fem!reader
A/N Legit just fluff lol, no tw other than cussing
James had been your best friend since first year, when you two accidentally flipped the boat across the lake on night one. You and him had stuck with each other through thick and thin, you supporting him even when he was asking Evans out. Over the years your feelings had grown, and everyone knew but him.
"Sirius this is a bad idea." You stated what seemed to be the obvious. "Please Y/n, it’s your sixth year, your pining after James and he’s oblivious. You’ve never dated, but this won’t be that hard. Plus I need to get Remus jealous as well." You and Sirius were leaned over your cauldron in potions, whispering about how you planned to make James and Remus jealous. Sirius had suggested that you two pretend to be ‘getting it on’ (his words not yours) at the Halloween party the next night. "You know what? Fine, let’s do it." You sighed, thinking nothing could go wrong.
It was two hours into the party and everything had gone wrong. There had been a fight, two almost mosh pits, and Sirius had gotten shitfaced drunk and had to have Remus take him upstairs. ‘He got what he wanted, to be alone with Remus’ you think to yourself with a chuckle. “What are you laughing about darlin’?” A familiar voice spoke quietly in your ear, James, while his arm snaked around your waist. “Nothing of your concern pretty boy.” You retorted. Nicknames like this weren’t unusual with the two of you so when James blushed a deeper scarlet than the gryffindor banners around the common room it made you think.
You and James stood and swayed with the music for a minute, Voulez-Vous by ABBA playing in the back. “I wanna go get some fresh air, how bout you doll face?” James asked, unraveling his arm from around your waist but then holding his hand out to you, as an invitation. You wind your fingers with his as he pulls you outside the common room.
The pair of you walk until your standing outside by the black lake, and you suddenly realize that it’s October in Scotland and your fucking freezing. James must have felt your slight shiver, as he peels off his quidditch letterman to drape over your shoulders. “Y/N, I know this is sudden and maybe a bit intrusive but can I ask you a question?” “Of course Jamie, what is it?” James takes a big deep breath, and then another. At this point he hasn’t said anything, and its been a good ten seconds. “Jamie? You alright?” You ask tentatively, worried now. He waits another second before asking, “Doyoulikemeoranyonereally?” He practically hurls out his words, like his brain is moving to fast for his own good. You could only pick out two or three words such as ‘you’, ‘like’, and ‘anyone’ but you made a solid guess of what he said.
“Do I like anyone?! Well yes Jamie why?” Your shocked by the question, but more so by his behavior. James was always chill, laidback, and level headed. So why on earth would he act this way? Just then it clicks, but you can hardly believe it. ‘No he likes Evans’ you’ve told yourself for the past three years, but as you think about it, he hasn’t tried to ask Lily out in months. He stopped asking just before her and Mary got together, and he’s now the most supportive friend around. ‘Maybe he likes me?’ You think, then mentally facepalm at the idea. You were for certain that your little crush problem was one sided.
“Would you be willing to tell me who? Please?” James says slowly, almost scared. You are both standing on the pier over the lake, and as you shyly look away you see the waves below. You can see your reflection with James in the waves, standing face to face, his arms around your waist, and one of your hands on his chest. It feels right to be in his arms, wrapped up in him. “If I tell you will you be mad?”, you say as you finally catch his eye, “If I’m truly honest?” “Of course my love. Just say the name.” Your heart skips what feels like several beats at that nickname.
With a sudden boost of confidence, you lean up onto your tiptoes and lock his lips with yours. His arms tighten around your waist and your hands travel up to his hair. He kisses you slow and soft, like he’s afraid to break you or ruin the moment. You don’t stop until you both need air, lips breaking apart with a soft ‘pop’. “Guess who I like?” You say with a small laugh, as you watch his soft lips tug into a grin. “Hmm lemme see…..” He says sarcastically, “Sirius maybe?” He bursts out laughing at your disgusted facial expression, and lifts you slightly off your feet. Squealing as he easily lifts you, you wrap your arms around his neck, leaving a kiss on his cheek.
“Can I maybe take you out on a honeydukes date this next weekend, my love?” “Of course Jamie” He carries you up to the castle, but not without a few kisses as celebration. <3

I've been having some discourse about Regulus Black as of late, and wanted to share.
Some people in fandom say that Regulus Black couldn’t have been a martyr. Or that his portrayal as someone who didn't believe in blood purity is inaccurate. Or that it makes more sense that he'd be a bigot.
Here's my thoughts:
It makes more sense only in the fact it's easier to read Regulus as a hardcore blood purist who never had doubts rather than to imagine other motivations, deeper feelings, diverging beliefs.
But any assumption we make of Regulus is still just an assumption based on hearsay.
Truly, you can CHOOSE to read Regulus as a martyr who didn't really believe any blood purity stuff.
It is a choice to imagine things that COULD have happened. He could have been pretending to believe blood purity, could have been the opposite of Sirius to protect himself from the ridicule of his parents, could have been afraid to speak up because he'd seen his cousin, his uncle, and his brother all disowned. (I like to imagine that Sirius was the one to "challenge his beliefs," or that Regulus was so observant and precocious that he reconsidered blood purity on his own)
But all of these things could have happened in the realm of canon. We don’t technically know hos true motives.
Its clear that Sirius didn't believe his brother was evil from the way he talked about him. Regulus could have hidden his true beliefs all along, even from Sirius. In a house like Grimmauld Place, it makes sense that he might do that.
I don't think it's a far leap to then assume that his parent's approval was the only reason he did any of it (becoming a death eater, voldemort propaganda on his wall). We have so few facts about Regulus from canon we can imagine a lot about his backstory. (In fact, I'm going to make a comparison to Snape here. The whole series we think Snape is a terrible person loyal to voldemort and trying to kill Harry. And we had A LOT more facts about Snape compared to Regulus. But it isn't until book 7 that we get the full, convoluted picture.)
It's easier to assume that Reg didn’t change his mind until the last minute, but we truly don't know when. Just that he did. We don't know how he truly felt about Sirius, but it isn't going against canon to imagine that Regulus was being a martyr to save his brother. Esp when he was canonically a martyr for Kreacher.
It's just fun to imagine a deeper, more convoluted storyline for Regulus. I think fandom would be incredibly boring to have only one interpretation of Regulus when we don't know enough to say that he DEFINITELY was a hard core blood purist.
