Pairing: James Potter x fem!reader
Summary: James Potter was charming, mischievous, captain of the quidditch team and very popular among the girls at Hogwarts. He had a certain talent for making his presence aware , a charisma that was unmatchable. You didn’t have many friends, no matter how hard you tried, people never seemed to acknowledge you. To put it quite plainly, you were the polar opposite of James. You spent years trying to push out and ignore any romantic feelings you had for him, because come on… there is no way he even knows you exist…. Right?
Warnings: Mild swearing and kissing/ making out.
Author’s Note: Hi my loves, this is part 1 of a mini series called- Gold rush. I will keep updating, as fast as I can. If you like my work, feel free to send in requests and leave comments 💌. Happy reading xx. Part 2 and Part 3 out now! (Comment to be added to the taglist)
The lively chatter of students filled the corridors. Golden light shone on the cold, aged walls. The air was heavy with the scent of old books, dust and a hint of magic. You made your way towards the dungeons, just in time for Potions class. You were fairly late; your usual spot was taken by another student. You scanned the classroom, looking for a vacant seat. Unfortunately, there was only one, at the very front of the class.
You settled in the empty seat, when you noticed the boy sitting next to you. His messy black hair was overgrown, and ruffled in a way that looked purposeful. His hazel eyes appeared large beneath his round glasses. James Potter was unreasonably attractive, that wasn’t a secret. You spent your first few years at Hogwarts trying to deny it, but it was of no use. You tried telling yourself his good looks didn’t make up for his arrogant and vexatious personality. He was insufferable.
You hated the way he paraded around the school, hands casually tucked in his pockets, increasing his voice by a few extra decibels whenever a pretty girl walked by. You hated the way he effortlessly drew attention to himself as soon as he walked into a room. And what you hated the most, was when he would catch your gaze lingering on him for a little too long.
“Good morning students. I will be assigning you your partners from now onwards. You will stick to these arrangements for the rest of the academic year.” Professor Slughorn announced, earning disappointed groans from the whole class.
“I have learned my lesson after the ‘incidents’ young Mr. Potter and Mr.Black have caused.” He continued, causing wide grins to spread across James and Sirius’ faces.
Slughorn spent most of the lesson reading out the pairs he had made. You were growing impatient, he hadn’t called out your name yet, maybe this was the perfect opportunity to finally make a new friend… and you know, make it last this time.
“Mr.Potter and Ms. Y/L/N” The professor called out.
You have got to be kidding me, you thought to yourself, a horrified look plastered across your face.
“Why that face, love? I don’t bite” James said turning towards you, then to Sirius and letting out a laugh.
You rolled your eyes and left class, saved by the bell.
The next day, you decided to spend your free time in the library and catch up on some homework. Immersed in your work, you almost didn’t notice the figure walking towards you.
“Feeling studious, are we?” James asked, placing his hands on the table and leaning forward.
“I was, until you came along.” You mumbled, mostly to yourself, as you stared packing your things up.
“Wait, where are you going?” James asked.
“I’m sorry, is there something in particular you want from me?” You snapped.
“You’re my new potions partner aren’t you? I thought we could study for the upcoming test together.” He said cooly.
“Right… well, I’m y/n.” You said, extending your hand.
“You’re kidding right?” James asked, with an almost offended expression.
“Why would I be kidding about my name?” You raised an eyebrow.
“Bloody hell… I know who you are y/n!” James exclaimed. “Third year, Defence against the dark arts, fourth year transfiguration and history of magic and fifth year, divination and astronomy. Those are all the classes we had together, do you not remember?” James continued.
“Oh- um… yea, I guess.” You said, dumbfounded. You remembered. You obviously remembered. How could you forget? But the real question was, how in Merlin’s Name did James freaking Potter know who you were? Did you hit your head and fall into an alternate reality, where you were one of the bimbos he noticed?
It had been a week since that unforeseen encounter with James. He would wink at you during meals or purposefully walk too close to you in the corridors, just enough for your shoulders to brush. He would pretend like he didn’t notice you, but you could feel his stare penetrate when you weren’t looking.
The following night, you woke up in a cold sweat. Your stomach was churning with nausea; it must have been the puking pasties a girl named Marlene gave you.
You were in desperate need of fresh air. Careful not to wake your dorm mates, you slipped out of bed, not caring that you’re in your pyjamas and decided to take a stroll around the castle. You had to be really cautious to not get caught, you didn’t want your house to loose points. You made your way to the dungeons, as it had a lovely view of the black lake.
“Light them up before Filch comes!” A voice whispered.
“What if the Slytherins wake up!” A shrill voice filled with fear added.
“Leave if you must , Pete! But do not ruin this for the rest of us.” You could recognise that voice anywhere.
You peaked your head from the corner of a wall, spotting James and his group of friends, ‘the marauders’, they called themselves. How cheesy. They were in-front of the Slytherin common room, with what seemed to be dung bombs and fire crackers in their hands.
‘Bloody hell. They’re mental.’ You thought to yourself.
“Shit! Run!” One of the voices shouted.
The crackers exploded, creating loud sounds and a strong pungent smell. From a distance, you could see Filch running towards the mess. Suddenly, you felt someone grab you from behind. Before you could shout, their hand covered your mouth. You turned your head to see James signalling you to be quiet. He pulled you into a hidden corner as Filch scoured the surroundings, looking for the culprits behind the mess.
He released his hand from your mouth.
“What the hell! What are you guys doing! Have you absolutely lost your minds??!!” You whisper shouted.
“Y/N Y/L/N, are you following me?To answer your question, no our minds are very much intact. Just a bit of sweet revenge on the Slytherins. Nothing special.” James smirked.
You noticed just how close the both of you were standing. You could feel his warm breath on your cheeks. You could see the soft curve of his lips and the slight flush in his cheeks. You could hear his heart racing.
He lifted his arm, gently brushing a strand of stray hair away from your face.
Whatever gap was there between the two of you, was closed by James. His lips crashed into yours with an intensity that set your skin on fire. His hands found their way to your waist, pulling you closer, as if he couldn’t get enough of you. You didn’t hesitate to kiss him back. All the years of pent up emotions you felt for James came rushing. He pulled away from the kiss to catch his breath, the overwhelming force left you reeling.
“Prongs! Prongs, where are you?” A voice hissed.
“Shit.” James said, through clenched teeth.
“Prongs?” You asked, smirking and raising an eyebrow.
“It’s Sirius. I’ve got to go. Will you be able to go back to your dorm on your own?” James questioned.
You nodded.
“Catch you later, y/n” He said, flashing you that famous James Potter smile.
That alone was enough to make your heart melt.

There's not much Barty Crouch Jr content out there. If you don't mind writing about him, can I make a request? After escaping Azkaban, he serves his Lord to the best of his ability, but there is someone from his past that he still can't get out of his mind. A Slytherin and from a family of followers of the Dark Lord. They had a relationship during their youth. After many years, he finds her again. He always had a soft spot for her. But the reader (like Snape, a sort of spy) is secretly thinking against the Dark Lord and stays away from these things as much as possible, but she is definitely in danger. Things are complicated, but the strong attraction and longing between them cannot be ignored...

{. 1972 - Barty’s Year 1 .}
Bartemius Crouch Junior couldn't have been older than eleven when he first met {Y/N} Walburga Black.  A cool upperclassman, if only by a year.
Bartemius, at that ripe age, knew only a handful of things, and two of those was how badly he wanted to be seen and known. He wanted to be seen for who he was, and known for what he would do. That's likely what drew him to you.
At only twelve, you and your brother had made a name for yourselves, in much different ways. Your brother was popular, for his quick tongue and clever quips, his innate ability to get under anyone's skin and stay there. Those traits could be forgiven, and they always were, for his big heart and intense sense of moral.
You, however, were known for harboring a few very non Black traits, like your intense empathy and your crazed thirst for knowledge. Even as a Slytherin, your loyalty and curiosity rivaled the students around you tenfold. Your bravery knew no bounds, even with all the wrongs you had been done, you were forgiving and understanding. You were seen by everyone, you were known for everything.
As he got older, he wondered where that forgiveness went. You grew cold.
When he was innocent, when he had done no wrongs, you cradled him in your hands like he was a gift. You looked at him with eyes you shared with everyone, so much care and patience, so much understanding and kindness. So if those eyes were shared with the masses, he struggled, but was determined, to keep them focused on himself at any chance given.
It was obvious to anyone who saw the two interact. Barty wanted to be witnessed by you. The halls filled with the judgeful and teasing murmurs when he found you in the halls.
“There goes {Y/N}’s prodigy.”
“Barty is off to find his guru.”
“That boy will never learn.”
“How annoying.”
Barty had never been ashamed of his declarations for praise. He knew most of the voices were bitter with jealousy. He would be jealous too. You were both so young, and yet even some older students looked to you like you were twice your age, yet every Friday when the tests were returned, you sat in the courtyard and waited for him. Your personal underclassman.
You would meet in the yard and he would brandish his flawless marks, you would praise his abilities in absolute pride. He had never had someone prideful of him before. Everyone knew him to be a mother’s boy, but he would challenge any of those claims. He was a {Y/N}’s boy, he'd tell them, no shame as students snickered and made their fun of him. He was never afraid of how much he liked you. How much he admired and respected you.
He would turn from the RavenClaw table and look to you after his announcements everytime, you would be eating with Lily Evans and the other girls of her group, but your eyes would be on him. You would give him a soft smile that drove him mad. He would return it with his own, the smile he would save for you. Just you.
When he was only eleven and you were twelve, everything was perfect for him. You focused your attention on studies, your friends, and of course, Barty. That's how it stayed for years.
He would reminisce in his cell, running his dulled nail along the jagged stone walls, carving intents of every minute that passed. Remembering all of the things he regretted most in his life. Losing your trust was where his spiral began. He was a foolish kid.
{. 1974 Barty’s Year 3 .}
“It's getting embarrassing.”
Barty was eating lunch with one of the many friends he had made during his years at Hogwarts, Evan Rosier. He was once again bringing the conversation back to you, as he had been for the past few days.
“You trail after her like a loyal dog. Has she even given you a hint that she may return your feelings?”
“What feelings?”
Evan and you did not get along. You never had. When he first found himself growing closer to him, you voiced your distaste for Evan the very next day. Barty always trusted your judgment, he obeyed you without much of a fight in most cases. This was not one of those cases.
He figured you to be biased, your brother thought him to be a Death Eater and you despised them. Something he could never understand, you were a pureblood, a Black, you were a powerful witch, and you would never have to worry about falling for a half blood or muggleborn, or Merlin forbid, a muggle. You were smarter than that. He always figured. You wouldn't taint your legacy.
Not like your useless brother, who he could see even now, describing his entanglements with witches and wizards of any kind, to the other Marauders.
As the years went on, you and Barty’s meetings became scarcer and scarcer, they went from Fridays to every second Friday, finally, you now only met every last Friday of the month. Still, Barty clung to you with a desperation he never would give anyone else.
Recently, you had gotten into a fight. One where you expressed your worry for what could possibly happen to him if he got involved with the wrong crowd. Barty, admittedly, didn't respond in kind. He was furious with you. You questioned his company but pushed away from him, you questioned his morals and his standing on the war. He told you there was no war to him, there was no fight.
At the end of the day, he would be standing by you.
The answer seemed to distress you further. It turned into a match of shouts and desperate pleas of compliance. It caused a scene, people watched as you defended your standing on your side of the war, this fight you were having with yourself he assumed. There was no war. This was a power struggle.
Evan’s scoff snapped him out of his thoughts and he looked up from his plate to his eyes.
“Barty, half the school knows you've been in love with her since first year.” He hissed and Barty frowned. Would he call it love? He didn't think about it long before he had his answer. Love wasn't something he looked for, but he found it constantly. From the love he shared with Pandora, to the love he shared with Regulus, even the love he was nurturing with the brutish Evan.
No love in his body burned hotter then his love for you.
He never thought about it because he never had to. Why would he? He knew you loved him too. He knew what you two shared was never anything that could be challenged. He was your prodigy. He was your prodigy. He didn't care for much, as long as he was yours.
Evan snapped his fingers in his face and drew his attention back to him. He gave a slick smirk and wet his lips. “Come on, Barty, she's just a girl. You're wasting talent. Talent that could be used for someone who actually appreciates you.”
“She does appreciate me.” Barty challenged immediately, before Evan smirked and gestured to the Gryffindor table. “Does she?”
Barty turned just in time to see you, he never had to stare at a crowd too long to find you.
You were sitting with your brother and his friends, side by side with Remus, sitting far too close for comfort. He was whispering something in your ear, making you giggle. Turning to look at him with the truest smile he's ever seen you make. Flashing your beautifully uneven teeth, your cheeks dimpling and eyes seeming to sparkle. Your eyes met Lupin’s and he took in your expression like he could die in that moment.
Barty had never seen you smile like that before. He had never seen you look that way before. You had never looked at him like that before.
He hadn't even noticed as he began to bend the fork in his hand, fist tightening as he watched as Remus lean in and stole a kiss against your cheek. You gave a bigger laugh at this. Moving in to kiss his lips carefully.
The wonderful moment you were having was interrupted when a loud snap sounded threw the cafeteria. Your eyes snapped over to the RavenClaw table, as did a lot of your peers. Barty had snapped a fork in half with his thumb alone. Before a professor could scold him, he got up from his seat and stomped out of the grand hall, and your eyes followed them.
You muttered a quick apology to Remus and he nodded in understanding as you scrambled to your feet to follow after him.
He wished he could take every word he called you in that hall back now. He wished he had been smart enough to know that loving you with you in his life would of been far less torture then loving a girl who hated your guts.
“You blood trader!”
“This! This is what I meant, Bartemius! My Barty would never-”
“You don't have a clue about me, you insolent heartbreaker! What of us, Black?”
“Us? What Us, Barty?”
That night he realized that no matter how genuine his love was for you, how deeply it ran, those times spent alone meant far more to him then it ever meant to you. You did stuff like that for everyone.
He wasn't entitled to your love. Running his nail down until it was blunted against the wall. Azkaban could no longer do more harm then it already had.
{. 1974 Barty’s Year 4 .}
An entire school year. You and Barty didn't speak for an entire school year.
He kept his tabs on you, of course, because no matter what you said to him that day, you were still his person. Knowing how ignorant and how dangerously minded you could be, he took it upon himself to look over you. You may have been older, you may have sworn him, at one time, your loyalty and protection. But now, he had power of his own. He would repay you. He would repay and reeducate you, given the chance. With all the training him, Evan, Muliciber, Avery, even Snape had done? By Merlin’s beard he could do anything.
He had the mind to back that up, but he kept his power under wraps. You were always frightened by what you didn't understand, the last thing he wanted was for you to fear him. He wanted everyone to know him as fear, not you.
Never you.
When the school year started Barty noticed the shift instantly. He knew you like the back of his hand, far more than he let on most days, but it didn't take a genius to see that {Y/N} Black sitting with Regulus Black at the Slytherin table was odd.
He soon learned of what happened between Sirius and his family, a right disgrace. Then to learn Sirius scorned you from his life for choosing to stay with Regulus, that was probably what started Barty’s absolute disdain for your brother. You had gone through training per Regulus. Saying before Sirius left he let it slip about you and Remus, trying to entice you to leave with him. You refused and your mother lost it. Walburga was a stain on this earth for what she had done. Even then…
It was all for the better, as he saw it. You don't need the impressions of Sirius Black, Lily Evans, Mary Macdonald, Remus Lupin, or any others that pour their venom into a perfect witch as yourself. He would make sure it stayed that way, even if it hurt you. However, he couldn't lie.
You always looked your best when you knew your worth.
It wasn't just your routine that changed, you became cold to your old friends, dropping the Muggle borns and staying weary of the half bloods. You started to associate mainly with more influential Purebloods.
That meant him.
He knew his father was good for something.
“Crouch? Would you like to accompany me to the library?” Your voice sang out to him, despite your listless monotone and drifting eyes. It was the first sentence you muttered to him in 13 months. Your voice was more reserved, your back straightened and your lips pouted. You didn't look like that 12 year old he knew, you were 16 now. Even in his depravity, he took notice of every lovely advancement you had taken in care of your appearance. Your mother instructed you with glamours and proper wear, even now wearing a black feathered choker and brandished a black quill. A family heirloom, Regulus would tell him.
Now, he hated your mother, there was no question about that. What she had done to Regulus was unforgivable, what she had done to you was cause for retaliation in his eyes. But Merlin, did she put you back on the path of greatness.
“Crouch? {Y/N}, my love, it will always be Barty to you.” He lit up like a child, voice sugary sweet. It was your turn to take notice of his change. He was still the same boy you met in first year. Endlessly obsessive, devoted, and excelling at all the things you liked about him. Unfortunately, also the things you hated.
But, he was still your Barty in your heart. The boy you loved, the boy you cherished, the boy who charmed your soul in ways you didn't know possible. If you had to pick anyone to fill the hollowed out ache in your chest, you chose dangerously, Barty Crouch Jr would be your reprieve.
He was just older now. He was becoming a man.
Everyone knows what they say, about a boy and a girl, coming into their own together. Barty figured this was your love story, you weren't one to argue any longer.
He didn't care that you only seemed to speak to him out of necessity. When he heard from Regulus that your mother was making you pick your friends based on their social standing, any males to soon be a suitor, he was ecstatic.
He was remarkable. He was seen. He was valuable enough to you to not be a mere pawn but maybe even a queen on your chest set. To be used by you? It was worth every moment of the ache. All of this because his father just so happened to keep his filthy hands to the purest bloodlines.
That was his value to you. His blood, his sweat, his labor, and his mind. They were yours, no questions asked. He clung to your heel with new found determination. He would keep you on the right track, the promised one. The one that would ensure your children had the same opportunities.
He knew he wanted this the moment he walked in on you and Severus arguing in the courtyard.
“You dare call her a Mudblood, you incessant pompous Half Breed?!” Your voice echoed through the halls. People watched in horror, some in absolute shock, the sweet kind girl they had grown attached to was a right monster now. Barty, however, was loving it. You were a proper pureblood.
“{Y/N}-” Severus spoke carefully, something about his tone was far too familiar for Barty’s liking, him addressing you by first name made his jaw tighten. He didn't have to say a word. You rectified it.
“Do not address me as anything other than Black, you dirty mutt!” You screeched. Severus looked stunned, the usually stoic boy looked broken. Barty watched as your eyes trailed over a shocked and watery eyed Lily Evans, he almost didn't catch you muttering, “You lost that privilege.”
He, of course, came to your rescue, as he always promised. Hand around your back and escorted you away from the fight. As you both walked down the corridor your path was blocked.
Barty almost laughed, Remus Lupin. He was standing with Sirius Black, both staring threatening daggers at Barty. When you both kept walking, Barty shoved a path between the two boys, you hand a fistful of his cloak so as to not be left behind.
He didn't like how Remus’s eyes softened at the sight of you. He didn't like how Sirius reached for you. He walked faster, putting your sniffling form in front of himself.
After that, he knew he had you.
You were becoming who you were meant to be.
~~~
He took his mark that summer, standing alongside your brother Regulus Black, Lucius Malfoy, Beatrix Black and Evan Rosier. They were at your cousin’s manor, in the ballroom standing side by side. He was as straight as a board, brimming with pride, smirking to himself and brandishing his left arm.
He could feel your eyes on him, from where you stood, next to Narcissa, your aunt and your mother. Waiting for him.
Evan was first, standing beside Barty and holding out his wrist. When the wand hovered over his wrist and the Death Eater began to mutter the incantation, Evan let out a blood curdling sound. Pure brutish pain shot through him, leading him to fall back. Quickly held up by two other death eaters behind him.
When the wand brushed Barty’s wrist next, he hardly flinched. Tilting his head back as sweat gathered around his temple and neck. He bit his lip and let himself feel every sharp intrusion the spell took, letting himself succumb to the blissful pain.
When he returned to you, not standing to wait for dismissal like the rest of them, he wrapped his arm around your waist and yanked you in. He stole your lips for his own, making you give a slight gasp. You don't fight it, so he pushed further, letting himself taste your bottom lip and pulling it punishingly between his teeth. Through his high he was able to recognize and memorize the feel of your lips and the taste, in his mind, it was the closest to the gods he'd ever get. What was true heaven, however, was when you took his cheeks in your hands and kissed him back.
“Enough.” He heard your mother hiss from beside you. She shooed Barty away like he was some stray dog. He backed down from where you stood, licking his lips and admiring just how shaken and red you looked. Your mother, the hag, pushed you behind herself and hid you away from his eyes.
When you looked away and covered your mouth, he almost didn't notice how you also licked your lips clean. That drove him mad.
He had come to the conclusion early on, you were a temptress. A vixen. A damned Siren as far as he knew.
Memories of that night, your first kiss, the moment he could see you falling for him. A proper man, worthy of the worship he planned to give you. Worthy of serving a goddess like you. It kept him up most nights, it was a high even the dementor's couldn't take away, but they did manage to warp his obsession from what he believed to have been holy, to the truth.
He was brought on this earth for you. Without you, he was nothing. He was rotting.
{. 1976 Barty’s Year 6 .}
The next year he took your hand and promised you the world. To his delight, you responded in kind. You began dating his sixth year and it was absolute bliss.
It didn't last long, that bliss. It became a thrill.
Despite his power and loyalty to the dark lord, your mother favored another's for your hand. Particularly, Avery. His father came to your mother with the proposal, your mother liked his offer of the estate and your own power over the house.
You, however, much to Barty’s delight, were way too far gone. In your now secret meetings, where you would take you strolls along the city street, to the shop or to the boutique. You made a show of it; but you only truly left for Crouch Manor.
Where Mr. and Mrs. Crouch turned their other cheek as you snuck your way to Barty’s chambers. Behind those locked doors your love was dangerous. His whispers and promises of treachery against your family name were met with nothing less than desperate devotion and promises in kind. As your palms glided over his bare chest and his large hands found their way under your skirt.
His favorite memories were all locked away in that room. The room he made you his own, where his hands grew familiar with your skin in ways no one else ever could, where he found an affinity for you breathless, and where he heard you let out sounds no self respecting Black heiress should ever let out.
He claimed what was his birthright, between your legs. Bruised your lips numb and left marks you had to charm away when you made it back home. Just in time for supper.
With the feeling of him still fresh on your body. The pureblood heir your parents thought so lowly of. The heir they didn't see fit to sit at that very table, was still there. His lips were on the rim of the cup you sipped from, his hands were on the arm rests you relaxed against, and his teeth and claws were buried into their perfect daughter.
{. 1978 .}
By the time you both graduated, you took your place at the table. Having fought to hold off your engagement to Avery, Barty took it into his own hands to get between the two of you. Every time you glance in the boy's direction, he shrivels in on himself.
“Barty?” You whispered between his greedy kisses, in the halls of the Malfoy manor.  The only times his hands could find your hips and his lips could find yours outside of his own room now. He was starting to see less and less of you. The war was in full swing and with his desperation for you was all that was driving him most days.
Thinking now, he wondered what drove you. Even now, having spent a year in Azkaban, you were still the light he flew to, no matter how much it hurt him. He could have sworn, at one time, it was him.
“Darling.” He whispered low against your lips. You tangled your fingers into his hair, before pulling him down. He rested his chin against the curve of your chest and looked up into your eyes.
You bit your lip, running your thumb along his own reddening ones. “Do you love me, Barty?” You cooed.
“I do.” He affirmed, licking the skin you touched along his Cupid's bow, “I do, more than anything.” His voice was raw and rough, he pulled at your hold, trying desperately to kiss you again.
“Do something for me, Barty.”
“Anything, Darling. Anything.” He muttered, eyes still on your lips.
“Be within my reach. Always.” You whispered before releasing him. He took your lips once more, pushing you back against the wall like the very prospect of not touching you in some way was physically painful. His hand traveled up from your hand to rub over the mark you took just days earlier.
Every moment like that seemed fleeting.
The very next year, Regulus Black passed. He had gone MIA and your mother, despite her loyalty to Voldemort, commanded you home. It got worse when they officially announced his death.
You stayed locked in those walls, by order of your mother. He missed you dearly. Barty never wanted to be your hero, some great commander, he couldn't care less now about who else even knew his name anymore. He was older now, and he just wanted to be yours.
So, it pushed Barty to work even harder. Anything to appease The Dark Lord, get this war over with, so he could return to the only true person worthy of his reverence.
Without you, his life went by in simple clips of reality. When Voldemort fell, he was imprisoned in this hellhole, and even now, he found himself unable to let anything else consume his mind.
The dripping of water from the rusting metal doors drove him mad. No other sounds but the miserable screams of inmates and slamming of bodies against pavement. It was a torturous and hopeless place, some people preferred punishment by their own hands. There was suddenly a loud clanging of keys that cut his thoughts.
He looked up from the corner of his cell, putting his thumb in his mouth and sucking on the bleeding torn skin. The marks he had made on the cell walls marked his 354th day in this nightmare. His eyes locked with his father and his mother, furrowing his brow as he stood.
His mother two out two veils of a slug colored potion, his father had another potion in his hand.
Barty didn't stay in that cell to see his 355th.
{. 1994 POV Shift .}
“It's a bit cold, don't you think?”
Remus Lupin's voice cut through the fog of your mind like a knife through butter. He was right, of course. Even as the year grew warmer with the summer months growing closer, the astronomy tower always gave a pleasant and persistent chill.
You were used to it, by now. Being the Astronomy Professor for almost twelve years. About the same amount of years you managed to avoid coming into contact with Remus himself.
You had to give him credit, Remus Lupin, he was persistent. Doing everything in his power to get you alone. As if one conversation would melt away years of what you had done, the people you deceived, the lives you took, the lies you told… all in the name of a crazed boy long lost to the history of the wizarding world. For the family who was as faded as the family tree you used to tend to with your brothers, painting names and burning faces.
As if speaking to you would somehow bridge a gap. A gap in his heart that still ached for you. It was never something he was able to understand, your persistent and endless love for Crouch had come out of nowhere for him. He couldn't look Sirius in the eye for a long time, learning he had outed your budding relationship.
He took every chance he could, to reach out, to speak to you, it was met with closed doors and a reminder of remaining professional.
“It is. Heading out, Lupin?” You muttered to him. You couldn't lie and say having him here didn't make you feel, in some ways, nostalgic. To the loving, caring, respectful girl you once knew. One with so much patience and kindness you shared it with all kinds of souls. Souls you've watched drop like flies under the man you swore your life to.
“I am.” Remus muttered but didn't turn to leave. You shifted on your heel to look back at him from the entrance of the tower. He had his hand resting on the railing, his palm thudding against the railing as he tried to gather the courage to continue.
“I heard you gave Snape quite the earful.” He hummed, walking deeper into your classroom. You thinned your lips and shook your head, turning away from him. He gave a weak scoff.
“Could you at least look at me?” He pushed, his voice wavering. You closed your eyes and gave a deep sigh. Your hands moved to grab the railing.
“What is it, Lupin?”
“It's not too late.” He whispered and you closed your eyes. His words were exact, aimed to cut deep and retrieve from you the heart he knew was there; it just had grown cold. “You could come back. With me, tonight, we can meet with Padfoot and-”
“And what, Lupin?” You spoke calmly as you turned to face him. He went rigid at your stare. “Live this wonderful life you have weaved out for us? Pretend that everything is okay and the last few years never happened?” You pushed and he closed his eyes.
Anger bubbled in his throat with something familiar, jealousy and bitter melancholy. If he could hear you any clearer you would be cotton in his ears. Your words were empty because he knew you could. Put Hogwarts behind you and come back to him, come with him and Sirius like you should have done back when you wore uniform and not cloaks like proper professors. Nothing was proper about you two aching hearts anyway.
Yet history repeated itself.
It always would.
“You know he's gone.” Remus started slowly and your breath caught in your throat. You felt your eyes grow glossy with grief and you placed your left hand over your heart.
“I never thought I would be someone's second choice. To Bartemius Crouch Jr.” He continued. “I see I never measured up, did I?”
“... I am sorry, Remus.” You whispered, your voice, for the first time in years, was vulnerable. It was careful.
Because of course you loved Remus. You loved him dearly, but no man would own you like Barty had. You were terrified to let yourself be loved with anything less than what he had shown you. Steadfast and faithful love. No one could challenge the status of Barty in your life.
Even in death his ghost reminds you of your place. Next to him.
Once this was over, once Dumbledore had seen and used his worth in you, when you were no longer under his wing like a servant, you would go back to 12 Grimmauld Place. You would retire. And you would wait for Barty to take you back home. Let it be a year, let it be ten, you would return to him as promised.
“... What have you become?” He whispered to you, and your eyes finally raised to meet him. You caught your tears and quickly cleaned your face. Shaking your head you put back on your practiced and perfect pout.
“.. A Black.”
Your exchange ended there.
Remus returned to your brother, you presumed. You forged ignorance when you were questioned by the Ministry of your brother’s whereabouts. It didn't take much for them to let you be, especially with Mr. Crouch Senior’s particular protectiveness of you. Probably a gift from Mrs. Crouch, oh, how you missed her.
When Barty was taken and your mother was far too weak to control you, you visited the Crouchs’ daily. You helped Winky with taking care of his parents, particularly his sick and fragile mother. You grew a weak repore with his father, though you despised him.
As a proper pureblood you just silently reaped the benefits of what the world had gifted you.
Including your wealth. With the house of Black fallen you were left to be the soul heir. Though, the moment you heard of Sirius Black’s escape, you reopened your joint account. Soon, you heard someone was able to access it. It was true; your brother was alive and well.
That was the only olive branch you extended to him.
Once the school year was officially over you returned home. To your modest house down in an old town just a broom ride away from Hogwarts. Feldcroft.
You returned home, it was uneventful. Until you opened your door.
You were greeted by Winky, the Crouch’s house elf. That wouldn't be unusual, Barty had preached to her about how you were both intended. How she should attend to you, how she attended to him. So she would appear at your house from time to time, with gifts and food she had prepared for Crouch Senior that she made just too much of.
“Winky?” You called out to the figure in your hall. The sheepish girl turned to face you with a careful smile.
“Madam Black has returned! How happy Winky is to see you, mistress.” She declared and hurried up to you. Her path was cut short as Creature stepped in front of her, snapping away your bags. He seemed in a foul mood. Fowler then usual.
“Your mother would not approve of your company, Ms. Blaaaack.” He warned and you furrowed your brow. “Nor would she approve of this home-”
“Kreature.” You demanded and he huffed. Winky was always coming in and out, Creature never voiced displeasure with her company and your mother, well, she could care less. “What company?”
“The noisy Crouch, Ma'am.”
Your heart dropped. He apparated away, assumingly to unpack your bags. Your eyes widened as Winky appeared in front of your full view. Showing off the black quill you had most definitely left at home. Your mothers old quill. You took it carefully from the house elf.
“Winky..” You spoke carefully and slowly. Holding up the quill between your fingers. “Who gave this to you?”
“I think you know, Darling.”
Before Winky could answer, a voice lost to time spoke first. You knew it before you even turned around.
Still, you jerked your entire body to face him. Your eyes locked, full of longing and hope.
 And there he was. Your Barty.
He was holding a newspaper, licking his bottom lip but his eyes were on you. His eyes were just how you always remembered them. So full of danger and appreciation for your simple presence. He stepped towards you and you took a step back. He tsked at that, reaching out to grab your waist. “Darling..” He whispered.
You were still in shock. Staring up at his brown eyes and waiting. For anything. “Barty?” You whispered.
When he kissed you, alarm bells went off in your head. You didn't listen to any of them, grabbing him just as greedily as he held you. Both of your eyes closed and you held each other like you might perspire.
He was home.
He truly was.
Note
Ok James but him and his slytherin girlfriend seem to come out of nowhere and the boys are supportive but are more mad at James for not telling them? Idk I loved your other fic SO MUCH
Thanks for requesting <3
part 1
cw: mention of injury, no details or anything though
James Potter x Slytherin!reader ♡ 1.5k words
You hesitate outside the doorway to the infirmary at the raised voices coming from inside.
You don’t need to be here, strictly speaking. James told you his injury wasn’t bad, and he has his friends to help him if he needs it, but…you can’t settle yourself down. You hadn’t liked the way he’d limped off the field, nor the tiny grimace on his face when Sirius had wrapped a bracing arm under his shoulders. It would be just like James to downplay how hurt he is to make you feel better, and the longer the game had gone on without him the more your guts twisted themselves into knots over the idea that he was in pain.
You’d seethed at yourself and your stupid soft heart all the way to the infirmary, where now you’re frozen just outside like a coward. Something inside you is coiled tight with tension at the idea of going to see James Potter, on purpose and in public, even though that’s dumb because now everyone at Hogwarts knows about the two of you anyway. Your sappy display on the quidditch pitch made sure of that. But now that you have official and widely-known claim to the girlfriend title, you have just as much right to see him as anyone else. You shove your anxiety back into your stomach where it belongs and open the door.
As soon as you’re inside, the voices become clearer. “—like this isn’t a big deal. The Prophet’s going to be all over the two of you by tomorrow, and we had to find out with every other fucking bloke at the school!”
“Pads, you don’t think I would have told you if I could?” James sounds exhausted, and something mutinous throbs in your heart. It’s followed quickly by the more familiar twinge of irritation at the use of those moronic nicknames they all have. “She made me promise not to tell anyone, including the both of you.”
They’re talking about you. Of course they’re talking about you. What else could possibly be more important after James has fallen a good twenty feet off his broom than his dating life? This is why you hadn’t wanted to tell people. Hogwarts wears away at private lives like dementors at souls, and the rivalry between Gryffindor and Slytherin is too strong for your relationship with James to have any hope of remaining untainted once the gossip mill got ahold of it.
Your instincts are screaming at you to turn around and leave before they catch sight of you, but you force yourself to keep walking. If you start letting what people think about you and James affect you now, you’ll never be able to get past it.
Remus is the first to spot you, going still as if you’ve come to hex him, but James’ face splits into a lopsided grin that has the knots in your gut loosening very slightly.
“Especially you,” you say to Sirius as you brush past him, perching by James' pillow and weaving your fingers into his curls. There’s a wrap around his middle. It’s very hard to appear calm and blasé when you feel like you’re going to rupture something if he doesn't promise you he’s okay right this instant. “You’d have had all of Gryffindor talking about us within an hour.”
Sirius bristles but visibly shoves his temper aside, his voice matching your coolness as he says, “If I’d told anyone, Y/L/N, it would have been to inquire about whether anyone’s noticed you gathering ingredients for amortentia recently. James doesn’t keep things from us. Artificial infatuation is the only explanation for why he’d tolerate you and your secrets.”
“Oi,” James says, but you pat his head placatingly. You can fight your own battles.
“That how you got this one?” you jut your chin towards Remus, who’s looking somewhat entertained as he watches the two of you spar. “If I’m ever in need of the recipe, Black, you’ll be the first person I come to, but I don’t need to resort to such measures myself.”
Sirius glowers at you, and James sets his hand on your shoulder just as Remus wraps a pacifying arm around his boyfriend. “Alright, I think that’s enough,” the taller boy says in his usual calm manner, and though Sirius is still tensed for a fight, he allows himself to be drawn into Remus’ side.
James nods in agreement. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you guys, really. I thought I’d get a chance to before everyone found out, but…” He turns up his palms helplessly. “Things didn’t go as planned.”
“We’ll get over it,” Remus says, Sirius quietly fuming beside him. “Won’t we, love?”
Sirius looks up at Remus' face, which is clearly a mistake, because he softens like butter in the sun. “Yeah, yeah, just gimme a bit,” he grumbles halfheartedly. “Anything to keep our Prongsie happy, right?”
James beams, so clearly relieved at the settlement of the conflict that you feel a bit guilty for participating in it. He kisses you on the cheek, chuckling against your skin. “You stink.”
“Some of us stuck around to play the whole game,” you reply.
“Ouch,” James says, but he’s grinning. “Couldn’t really help that, could I?”
You give him a look to let him know you haven’t forgotten how his negligence had gotten him hurt. “Debatable.”
You hear Remus chuckle but don’t take your eyes off James’ face, inspecting it for signs of the pain you suspect he’s hiding. “How bad is it really?” you ask, softening your voice even though there’s no chance of his friends not hearing you.
James worries his lip, big brown eyes looking into yours guiltily. “Pomphrey says I broke three ribs and bruised my tailbone pretty badly. Minor concussion, too, but nothing serious.”
Sounds serious enough to you. You ghost a hand over the back of his head as if you’ll be able to find and fix his hurt. He leans into your palm though, so it’s not for nothing. “I’m sorry I walked away out there,” you all but whisper. “I should have stayed with you.”
James eyebrows pinch together. “Hey, sweetheart, it’s okay,” he promises just as softly. He knows what it costs you to talk like this in front of people, like you’re turning yourself inside out for them to judge and stab at as they please, but James has no such reservations. He dots a kiss, feather-light, at the top of your cheekbone, wrapping an arm around you protectively. “Thanks for coming, I mean it.”
You clear your throat. “Yeah, and in my fucking quidditch gear,” you say in your normal voice, attempting to banish the heavy mood. As if your heart isn’t still beating, hummingbird-fast and fragile, in your throat. “We both need to change and shower, and then you should rest. Did Pomphrey say you could leave?”
James nods, still looking at you like you’ve cracked open in his hands (he might be right; it feels like you have, and it wouldn’t even be the first time today). He rubs your upper arm affectionately, but his voice is easygoing when he says, “Yup, I’m good to go.”
Sirius steps forward, as though to remind the two of you that he is, in fact, also present. “Great. We’ll walk you back to the room.”
You turn to him, not quite ready for your time with James to be up and aching for the opportunity to dote on him in private. “That’s okay, I can take him.”
Sirius’ eyes narrow. “You can’t even get into our dorms.”
“Please, like Gryffindor’s riddles are so perplexing.”
“I don’t need an escort,” James interjects. He pushes himself up with a grimace.
You halt him with your hands on his shoulders and Remus says, “Don’t be stupid, Prongs, you can barely walk.”
“I’ve got him,” you say firmly. Sirius stares you down, but you don’t flinch from his stony gaze. You know he doesn’t trust you. You don’t think he’d willingly trust any Slytherin. Since you’ve been at Hogwarts, the talk in your house has always been that Sirius Black shuns his family because they’re all Slytherins. Although James assures you there’s more to the story than that, it’s still obvious to anyone that he considers his friends his true family. He won’t entrust just anyone with James’ safety. But maybe that’s one thing you can agree upon.
He must see something of this in your face, because after a minute Sirius relents, rolling his eyes. “Fine,” he says. “I wanted to stop by the kitchens anyway.”
James is looking between the two of you curiously, aware that something has transpired but not quite sure what.
You don’t give Sirius a chance to change his mind. “Alright,” you say, gripping James' forearms and helping him to stand. “Let’s go, pretty boy.”
James drapes his arm across your shoulders gamely, and the two of you start out the door. “I don’t think that’s the insult you think it is.”
Carrying Your Love *.✧
Summary: From quiet moments in a cottage to plans of escaping to the sea, Sirius learns that carrying your love is the one constant that keeps him grounded.
sirius black x f!reader
(part 2)
Tumblr media
The warm glow of the summer sun streamed through the window of the small, cozy cottage nestled in the rolling hills. The soft hum of a record player in the corner was barely audible over the crackling of the fireplace, even though it wasn’t quite cold enough to need one. Sirius Black, leaned back in a wooden chair, boots propped up on the table. He had a cigarette dangling lazily from his fingers, but it wasn’t lit—just something to toy with as he watched you move around the kitchen.
You wore one of his old band shirts, a relic from his rebellious youth, the hem brushing your thighs. The sight of you, so effortlessly beautiful, made his heart ache in the best way.
"You're staring," you teased, glancing over your shoulder with a smirk.
"Can you blame me?" Sirius drawled, grinning in that roguish way of his. "It’s not every day you get to see the love of your life swiping the last of the coffee before you’ve had a chance."
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t help laughing. “Love of your life, huh? Since when are you such a romantic?”
"Since I met you," he quipped, his grin softening into something more sincere.
Sirius wasn’t the kind of man who thought much about settling down—not until you. For so long, he’d been running, whether from his family, his past, or the war that threatened to consume them all. But when you walked into his life, with your sharp wit and kind heart, he stopped feeling like a fugitive and started feeling like a man who could actually be happy.
"You know," Sirius began, tapping the unlit cigarette against the edge of the table, "I’ve been thinking."
You turned around, crossing your arms and leaning against the counter. "That’s dangerous."
He smirked but didn’t rise to the bait. "What if we got out of here for a bit? Traveled. Just you and me."
You raised an eyebrow. "Oh? And where exactly are we going?"
"Does it matter?" he said, his eyes sparkling. "Paris, maybe. Or that little village near the coast you keep going on about. We’ll bring nothing but a backpack and a map. Just—us."
The thought was tempting, more than you wanted to admit. But you had responsibilities here, things you couldn’t just leave behind. Sirius could see the hesitation in your eyes before you even said a word.
"Sirius," you said gently, "I love the idea, but you know it’s not that simple."
He sighed, running a hand through his messy hair. "I know, I know. But you can’t blame me for wanting to steal you away for a while."
You walked over to him, wrapping your arms around his shoulders from behind. He tilted his head back to look up at you, and you pressed a kiss to his temple.
"You don’t need to steal me away," you murmured. "You’ve already got me."
Tumblr media
Weeks later, the two of you stood on the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean. The salty breeze whipped through your hair, and the sound of crashing waves filled the air. Sirius had finally convinced you to take a short trip, though you hadn’t gone far—just a few days’ walk from home.
You had your arms wrapped around his waist, his leather jacket draped over your shoulders. It smelled like him—cigarettes, soap, and something distinctly Sirius.
"Do you ever think about the future?" you asked, your voice barely audible over the wind.
Sirius turned to look at you, his expression unreadable. "Sometimes," he admitted. "It’s hard to, though. The future always felt so... uncertain. But with you? I think about it more."
You smiled, leaning your head against his chest. "What do you think about?"
He hesitated, then said, "I think about us. About a little house by the sea, maybe a dog running around. Kids, if you want them. And you—always you."
Your heart swelled at his words. Sirius wasn’t the type to talk about things like this easily, and the fact that he was opening up meant the world to you.
"You know," you said softly, "I’ve been carrying your love with me since the day we met."
Sirius pulled back slightly to look at you, his gray eyes searching yours. "What do you mean?"
"I mean," you said, your voice steady despite the lump in your throat, "you’re with me everywhere I go. In everything I do. You’re a part of me, Sirius. And no matter what happens, I’ll carry that with me forever."
For once, Sirius didn’t have a witty comeback or a sarcastic remark. Instead, he cupped your face in his hands, his thumb brushing against your cheekbone.
"I don’t deserve you," he said, his voice hoarse.
"Don’t say that," you replied, covering his hands with yours. "You deserve everything good in this world, Sirius. And I’m going to spend the rest of my life proving it to you."
He kissed you then, slow and deep, as if trying to pour everything he couldn’t say into that one moment.
Watching Sirius with someone else finally broke Y/n completely.
The cup fell from her grasp as a sob made its way out. Tears cascaded down her cheeks and she felt the room close in on her.
She took in a ragged breath and one thought crossed her mind: To get out of here.
She hastily made her way to the exit, pushing through people and not caring when they gave her an annoyed glare. She needed to get away.
What she didn’t realize was that Remus had seen her rush out and his heart clenched, however his eyes returned to his other best friend at the sudden sound.
Sirius shoved the girl, who Remus recognized was in Ravenclaw, away and glared at her menacingly.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
The girl looked mildly confused before she grinned, a tipsy smile on her lips. “Oh Black, don’t act so good now. We both know what you want.”
Sirius growled, “Actually, you don’t know what I want.” He inhaled sharply. “In fact, I think I really have been wasting my time this whole time.” Sirius looked around the common room, trying to catch sight of the one who ruled his heart.
Remus placed a hand on Sirius’ shoulder making the boy look at him.
“She just left, Pads. She needed a break from everything.”
Sirius realized what Remus’ underlying message was in the last word and he clenched his eyes shut, hating himself because if Remus was indeed correct about y/n reciprocating Sirius’ feelings, he had hurt her one too many times and he was the one to blame.
Sirius nodded and made his way out hurriedly, ignoring the protests of the Ravenclaw who was trying to cling forcibly onto him again. He knew where y/n would be, she always went there when she was upset and Sirius began to run like he had never before in his life.
After what felt like painfully long minutes, he began to ascend up the stairs to the Astronomy tower and as he neared the top, heart wrenching sobs made their way into his ears, tormenting him. When he finally reached the top, the sight in front of him broke Sirius' heart.
Y/n had her knees brought into her chest, having buried her face as she cried, hating herself for having fallen for someone who she thought would never love her back.
Sirius silently walked over and took a seat beside y/n, who still hadn't noticed the new arrival. He gently placed a hand on her shoulder and y/n stilled, slowly raising her head as she wiped the tears away. Sirius felt his eyes gloss over.
"Sirius, what are you doing here?"
Sirius tentatively reached out and placed a hand on her cheek, making y/n's breath hitch.
"Love, I'm so sorry."
"What for?"
"For putting you through this."
Y/n tensed up, wondering if he knew.
Sirius sighed and stroked her cheek with his thumb.
"I am so sorry, Y/n. I should have said this earlier darling and I hate myself for putting you through this." Sirius let a tiny smile flicker on his lips. "I love you, y/n."
Y/n was stunned.
"You what?"
"I love you." Sirius repeated as he awaited a reaction from the girl. Y/n stared at him in shock and disbelief. Her heart did a flip and smile made its way onto her lips, making Sirius feel relieved. However, the next second the smile vanished and y/n moved away from Sirius' touch, breaking his heart at the action.
"No. You're lying-"
"I'm not, sweetheart." Sirius interrupted, trying to make y/n understand but she slowly stood making Sirius copy her action. She shook her head, her eyes tearing up.
"No, you don't. You don't love me. This isn't fair." She told him, tears welling up in her eyes again, "You can't play with my feelings-"
"I would never ever play with you, y/n," Sirius said, his voice becoming desperate, as he didn't know how to make y/n understand that his love for her is real and not a lie.
Y/n let out a whimper, turning away as she buried her face in her hands.
"Love, please," Sirius said, desperation evident in his voice, "Please believe me." He watched y/n raise her head, turning back to face him.
"I really want to believe you, Siri," She told him, "But I'm too scared for it to be false, for my heart to be broken. I know if I give myself to you, only for you to leave me later, I won't be able to take it." She told him, tears racing down her face.
Sirius sighed sadly, taking a step closer, carefully placing his hand on her cheek, in case she moved away. However, Sirius slightly relaxed when y/n didn't, who was looking at him with red rimmed eyes.
"Dove, give me a chance to prove my love for you, and after that, whatever your decision is, I'll accept without any protest." Sirius expressed earnestly, to which she found herself melting and nodded, placing her hand above his and removing it from her face, to take it in between her own.
"Fine. I'll give you a chance. If I find that what you mean is true, I'll give us a chance." Y/n told him softly.
Sirius' face broke into the largest smile. It wasn't a complete yes, but it was a start.
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" He said, picking y/n up and spinning her. When he set the girl down, he said, "I promise you my love, I will only love and love you from this day on."
Y/n smiled up at him before gently extracting herself from his arms.
"You still need to prove yourself, handsome." She told him, to which Sirius grinned.
"I'm not leaving your side at all, dovie, I'll prove myself to you in no time."
Y/n just gave the boy a small smile before turning back, going to lean against the railing, "Go back to your party, Sirius." She told him, gazing up at the sky, feeling a lot lighter now.
Sirius looked at her back before grinning, joining the girl by her side, making her look at him with a quizzical expression.
"I'd rather stay here with you, love." He said, winking down at y/n who felt herself smile and the two turned their gaze onto the beautiful starry night, their hearts easing from the pain their separation had caused, but instead the two hearts beginning to thread together into one.
Their broken hearts turning into healing hearts.
Date?
Marlene McKinnon x Reader
Summary : You’ve been infuriated with Marlene for some time now and Professor Mcgonagall just happened to pair the both of you up.
Warnings : none!
WC: 1.7k
a/n : this story is based on a dream i had about someone.. hope yall like it!!
Tumblr media
‘god,’ Y/N thought as she stared admired marlene. oh marlene even her name sounds pretty with her lion-like golden blonde hair, freckled olive skin, ocean blue eyes and her pretty smile that could brighten up any room she goes to.
Just then, Marlene narrows her eyes into a crescent shape smiling ear to ear at what her friend had just said “so beautiful’ Y/N mused with her chin on her hands looking like an awe-struck kid who had just seen princesses for the first time ever.
“Who's so beautiful?” Her friend’s voice snapped her out of her daydream face turning red when she realized that she had accidentally said it out loud.
she looked around then frantically searching for something, anything, when her eyes caught another pair “You, Reg! you’re so beautiful! Have I ever told you that?” Exclaimed Y/N quickly hoping her friend would believe her or at least not noticing her err— appreciation.
“No. you’re fucking with me, you were looking over there,” the slytherin boy pointed to where marlene and her friends are sitting, with the marauders coincidentally sitting close by.
Regulus’ eyes widened “NO!” He let out a loud gasp “Don't tell me you were staring at my brother?!” He pulled on her collar forcing her to face him cupping her mouthful cheeks causing her to choke on her food. She slapped him away bringing her hand up and started pounding her chest, coughing brutally, Regulus hands her a drink to keep the food down.
“i was not staring at him!” She cried out after chugging whatever liquid regulus had gave her, still breathless after her coughing fit looking at him dead in the eyes “I was just- simply admiring as some would say” —it's not like she was lying, she was not staring at him she was staring at marlene, wait, no, scratch that, she was admiring marlene.—
Regulus eyes her still clearly not believing in any of her bullshit she smacks the back of his head causing him to let out a yelp before brushing her away letting the conversation go.
Tumblr media
“Oi L/N!” Someone whistled, rolling her eyes as she made her way to her seat, setting her bag down as the voice continued.
“A little birdie told me you were checking me out..” He trails off “is that true? y’know there's no need to be ashamed” His friends giggling like little girls at his statement.
She clicked her tongue letting out a sigh, the one time she went to class early and she had to deal with this?
She turned around to the origin of the voice looking at him up and down “oh i was totally checking you out!” She clapped her hands together, looking up at him through her lashes with a sickeningly sweet smile on her lips batting her eyes seductively bringing her right hand up to twirl her hair.
“Is that what you wanted me to say, Black?” She watched as his face changed, a scoff falling off his lips. Little did she know there was another pair of eyes watching their interaction with an amusing smirk drawn on her face.
As Sirius' expression fell, a sharp snicker cut through the air, drawing attention to a figure in the distance. Marlene was leaning against the wall, her eyes gleaming with a mischievous twinkle. Her body seemed to be gently shaking, struggling to contain her laughter.
Marlene pushed herself off the wall, gracefully making her way towards them. "Well, well, it seems like my dear friend here just couldn't resist your effortless charm, Sirius,"
She teased, her voice dripping with sarcasm. The corners of her lips curled upward, her lips on the verge of breaking out into a full-blown grin.
“Good job Y/N, you really put him in his place, we really ought to be friends” Marlene's arm wrapped tightly around Y/N's shoulder, drawing her into a warm side hug.
The proximity caused a flutter in Y/N's chest, her heart racing with anticipation, not only from being so close to the charismatic blonde but also from the realization that she had made an impressive dent in Sirius' ego.
“Thanks!” Y/N grinned, her cheeks tinged pink from Marlene's praise.
The other girl's infectious enthusiasm and genuine affection were intoxicating, and Y/N found herself leaning into the embrace. It was refreshing to be around someone who encouraged her to push the limits, someone who didn't hesitate to knock an ego like Sirius' down a peg.
Pushing her feelings aside, Y/N couldn't help but return a smirk, her gaze flickering between Sirius and Marlene. "Oh, I'm sure we'd make a terrific duo," she chuckled, a playful lilt to her voice.
Sirius rolled his eyes, his annoyance evident, but there was a hint of amusement in his expression. "You two are unbearable," he muttered.
“Aw, Sirius, you're just jealous that we have each other's charming company,” Marlene retorted, sending a playful wink towards Y/N as she tightened her hold on her shoulder. The smirk on her lips seemed to grow wider, her eyes gleaming with delight.
Y/N stifled a giggle, finding immense pleasure in the exchange. She glanced over at Sirius, meeting his gaze with a raised eyebrow. “You're just upset that I wasn't as easily impressed by your arrogant banter.”
Sirius let out a scoff, his features contorted into an exaggerated pout. “Arrogant banter? I prefer to call it eloquent wit.”
Y/N rolled her eyes, the action more affectionate than dismissive. “Of course you do,” she retorted, her tone dry with feigned annoyance.
“Well, Marlene and I have more interesting things to discuss than your inflated ego,” she remarked, subtly shifting away from Sirius and closer to Marlene.
Marlene snickered at Y/N’s remark, clearly enjoying the banter shared between them and Sirius. “That’s right,” she agreed, her voice dripping with mock seriousness. “We’ve got far more riveting topics to discuss.”
Y/N smirked, her eyes twinkling with mischief. “Oh, yes. Like the latest fashion trends, relationship gossip, and, of course, our shared disdain for pompous boys with oversized egos.”
“Settle down everyone!” Professor McGonagall entered the room, her stern expression silencing the rowdy students immediately. She announced a new paired assignment, much to everyone's dismay.
“I've taken the liberty of sorting you into partners,” she declared, her gaze sweeping across the classroom.
Y/N groaned silently, dreading the moment her partner would be revealed. To her surprise, she heard Marlene's name being announced alongside her own.
She glanced over at Marlene, who seemed equally shocked by their pairing. A mixture of excitement and trepidation coursed through her veins. This unexpected collaboration could either turn out brilliantly or end in disaster.
Sirius watched as their names were called, a mixture of annoyance and amusement playing across his features. He leaned back in his chair, his eyes flickering between the two girls.
'Oh, this is going to be interesting,' he mused silently.
McGonagall continued listing out names, the students murmuring amongst themselves, clearly not thrilled with the assignments. Once all the pairs had been announced, the class was dismissed, and Y/N found herself walking alongside Marlene towards the library to begin their project.
“Well, this ought to be intriguing,” Marlene remarked, her voice betraying her excitement yet tinted with a hint of wariness. “Working closely with my new favorite person.”
Y/N chuckled, her cheeks tinged pink at the compliment. "Oh, I'm your favorite person now, am I? I feel honored."
As they entered the library, they snagged a secluded table near the back, away from the hustle and bustle of the main study area. Y/N pulled out her notes and textbook, preparing to dive into the assignment.
Marlene took a seat beside her, a smirk tugging at her lips. "I have no doubt we'll make a power duo on this project."
Y/N returned the smirk, her confidence growing with every passing moment in Marlene's company. "Oh, there's no doubt about it. We're going to ace this project and show them all what we're made of."
She glanced at the assignment's title, her mind already racing with ideas. "Alright, what do you say we start brainstorming?"
Marlene nodded eagerly, pushing up the sleeves of her jumper. "Absolutely. Let's do it."
They spent the next hour bouncing ideas off one another, their chemistry evident as they built upon each other's suggestions. They laughed, they argued playfully, and they found themselves getting lost in the conversation.
"This is actually going well," Y/N remarked, a genuine smile on her face. "I guess we do make a good team, after all."
As Marlene glanced up from her notes, a question danced on the tip of her tongue. Their project was progressing smoothly, but her thoughts suddenly shifted, seizing a brief moment of respite.
"Hey, Y/N," Marlene started, a subtle curve of her lips hinting at a playful undertone. Her eyes fixated on Y/N's focused expression, a soft chuckle escaping her lips. "Do you know what the date is?"
Y/N paused, her gaze lifting from the parchment to meet Marlene's eyes. She chuckled, her cheeks slightly flushed with mild embarrassment. "Hmm? Oh, sorry, I was out of it for a bit” she admitted, her gaze flicking back to her notes for a brief second before meeting Marlene's once again. "Can you repeat that, please?"
Marlene smirked teasingly, a sparkle of amusement dancing in her eyes. "the date?," she repeated slowly, emphasizing the words playfully.
Y/N's eyebrows furrowed slightly in confusion, her brain struggling to comprehend the meaning behind the question. As the realization slowly dawned on her, a cheeky smile spread across her lips.
"with you?" she responded flirtatiously, her voice dripping with lighthearted tease. "Anytime."
Marlene's smirk widened at Y/N's quick response. She leaned back in her chair, resting her chin on her palm as she studied Y/N's expression.
"Alright then," Marlene replied, her voice betraying a hint of intrigue. "How about tomorrow at 8?"
Y/N's eyes widened at Marlene's unexpected question. She stared at the other girl in disbelief for a moment, mentally processing the question to ensure she had heard it correctly.
"WHAT?" she blurted out, her voice betraying a hint of surprise.
bet you wanna
pairing: james potter x reader
content: another dream i had, smut 18+ mdni
a/n: hope you like thiss<33
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
james could not,would not stop gazing at you. He was enchanted by you completely and totally how could he not be.
you were all he could see, and he was not complaining. " i love her, i know it i love her" he announced to the world in a sense of realization.
"you know just about her name and the fact that she is in your potions class" sirius tried to argue but he knew his best mate was a gone case.
"mate, you've been staring at her every day from the same hallway when she comes out of class" remus tried to fill some sense in him but it was no use.
james knew you could see him, everyday you saw you pass him just the slight glance but he noticed, of course he did.
it was the next day, james was in his usual position waiting for you and just as the bell rung he pulled himself up to stand up straight ready for your glance but you had other plans.
you came out of class and headed straight in his direction, a smirk on your lips. james couldn't help but panic, he surely didn't expect this.
reaching him your hand immediately went to his collar, pulling him down still not fully kissing him, "bet you wanna touch me now, potter?" and he answered with a kiss.
a kiss so passionate it shocked james he could kiss like this, it had both of you breathless still neither of you broke it.
finally detaching from your face, he pulled you to nearest empty classroom he could find, pushing you against the door.
"sure you want this, baby?" he asked you with a hint of wonder in his eyes.
"fuck me, potter" was your only reply and he was quick to obey.
pulling you towards a desk bending you against it, he ripped off your shirt along with the rest of your uniform.
pulling down his pants he slammed into you without any patience, "you don't know how long I've been waiting for this".
you smirked at this, "I knew, I'm not oblivious".
he was fully fucking you now, a hand coming on your ass and you moaned his name loudly at the action.
"you like that, huh baby?" he asked while repeating his action, his other hand coming up to press you face more down on the desk.
you were both close and so his thrusts turned faster, impatient to reach his release and so you did moaning his name and shaking around him.
"I hope you're not done" you said, "if you even thought I could be done after that, it just means I've got to fuck you more".
poly!marauders x fem!reader who loves quidditch and is a bit nervous for her first match
I’m not super in love with this one, but here! Maybe a part 2? I love quidditch player! reader fics and feel like I should do more to do her justice.
The boys always knew you liked quidditch; it was quite obvious. You were always sitting in the stands during the matches, pressed against Remus for warmth as you watched Sirius and James play.
Sirius was built to be a beater. He had surprisingly good balance on a broom, and could quickly rotate himself. He was good at seeing the whole picture. He would keep track of his teammates, of who was being targeted with Bludgers.
James was a chaser, through and through. He was lean and muscular, and could weave in and out of obstacles more quickly than anyone else in all of Gryffindor house (and in your opinion, anyone in the whole school).
In first year, during Madame Hooch’s lessons, through, the boys took quick notice to your natural ability when it came to flying. You were the first to pick up each skill, and moved with your broom like the two of you were one.
However, when it came to tryouts, the boys couldn’t find you.
It’s what initially drove them to you. Second year, when tryouts were beginning, the boys were practically begging for you to join (well, James and Sirius begged, Remus apologized). You had brushed them off that year.
In third year, you reluctantly went to a few open pitch nights. No tryouts. Same with fourth year.
It wasn’t until the week before tryouts in your fifth year that you told the boys why.
In the summers, you compete in small club leagues for quidditch, just to keep up with it. You enjoy it; being on the pitch in the summer with your family. But when you got sorted to Gryffindor, there was one problem.
There's only one seeker.
It’s not like the boy was bad-in fact, he was the best seeker the house had seen in years. He was only a few years older than you, and so you just…waited. Waited for him to graduate, to be done with the team so you could try out for the open spot.
Fifth year, the position of seeker was finally open. When you arrived on the pitch for tryouts, you fought to keep yourself from cackling at the shock on your boyfriends’ faces (James and Sirius were even shocked to find out that Remus knew you were going to be there).
You were amazing. You had always been observant - you had always seen the little details, always been fast on a broom.
You had gotten the spot and practiced with the team for weeks, but now, you were only a few hours from your match.
Fuck.
~~
Remus leaned against the pillow to your right, eyes skimming over the transfiguration textbook. He had some muggle music softly playing from his record player, but you could barely hear it through your focus. You were leaned over yourself, back hunched as you carefully oiled your fingerless gloves.
Sirius and James burst into the common room with all the grace of an elephant in a mudslide. The latter sent the two of you a goofy smile, stumbling over the doorframe (and righted by Sirius) as he held out two warm cups to you and Remus.
“Spoiling us, hm?” Remus sets a bookmark in the textbook, setting it on the side table as he leaned forward. He grabbed both cups, taking a sip of his and holding yours upright until you were done with the gloves.
“‘Course.” Sirius closes the door behind him, sitting on the cushioned bench at the end of the bed. He set his face in his hands, his elbows against the mattress as he stares at you and Remus lovingly.
Your eyes flicker over to him, sending him a grateful smile before you look at Sirius and James. “Thank you.” You screw the cap on the bottle, setting it and your gloves on a cloth, and then the cloth on the table.
James turns as you grab the cup, walking around the bed to press a kiss to the top of your head. You feel the warmth of the cup seep into your body as you smile. James gives your shoulder a gentle squeeze before grabbing the oil and the gloves from the table, walking toward the bathroom.
You take a sip of your tea, turning to the boy with a confused hum as Sirius places a hand on your leg through the comforter.
James walks out of the bathroom, giving you another kiss on your forehead. “Just don’t want the oil getting on the wood, Love.”
“Oh.” You send him a quick smile, moving to the center of the bed in hopes to redirect the boys from your obvious nervousness.
James follows, moving to fill the new space before Sirius launches himself up from the bottom of the mattress, wedging between the two of you. Remus’s fingers cover yours around your cup, letting out a half-disapproving half-fond sound as he shoots Sirius with a look. “You almost made her spill.”
Sirius frowns, chin on your ribs as he frowns up at you. “Sorry.”
Your free hand gently follows a curl in his hair, “it’s alright.”
James presses himself closely to you, sandwiching Sirius between you as he wraps an arm around you both with a dramatic yawn. “I’m so tired…we got like two hours before we even need to think about heading to the pitch.” He leans forward, giving Remus a soft look.
“Why are you looking at me like a kicked puppy?” Remus shifts himself, taking your cup and setting it on the side table before turning back to you, settling against your back. “I’ve never been one to deny a nap.”
Sirius looks up at you, “what do you think, Love? Maybe it’ll calm your nerves?” You hum, shrugging as well as you can between the boys.
“Worth a try.”
James lets out a soft, pitying sound, staring at you. “You’re gonna do great, you’ve been stellar at practice.”
You half-smile, “yeah, it’s just…a lot.”
Remus’s hand gently travels up and down your arm. He presses his lips to your shoulder. “You should try to rest.”
You hum again. “Set an alarm?”
James turns himself around, grabbing his wand and setting a quick “suscito” on the clock. You close your eyes and try to calm your racing heart.
You feel James’s arm return around you and Sirius, Sirius’s warm breath tickling your stomach. Remus’s hand continues traveling up and down your arm.
You still smell the glove oil in the air as you feel yourself drift to sleep, knowing that when you wake, the adrenaline (and the boys) will be all you focus on.
Small little blurb for Theo Nott
Reader is wolfstars daughter
Vienna
Theo hummed a song he didn’t know the name of as he read, his head rested on his palm. He softly sang “Vienna waits for you”
And then stopped abruptly. He’d heard that song before. A muggle song no doubt. So where had he heard it? A sea of memories flashed through his mind, all concerning his potions partner. A girl, a girl he had been thinking about a lot. He remembered how sweet the melody sounded coming from her lips as she scribbled potions ingredients on a piece of parchment. His dreamy memory sharpened and the name scrawled on the parchment came into focus, Y/N Lupin. He felt his heart speed up, he was in love with one of his best friend’s cousin.
⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ 𝐼𝓃𝓀 𝓈𝓉𝒶𝒾𝓃𝑒𝒹 𝓈𝑒𝒸𝓇𝑒𝓉𝓈 ౨ৎ˚⟡˖
Pairing: James Potter x fem!reader
Summary: You and James have been friends since first year. You both would spend majority of your time together due to quidditch practice. Somewhere along the way, you started to develop feelings for him. You would never assume he felt the same way towards you, even though he flirted with you mindlessly and came up with clever excuses to be around you, you never assumed he would like you any other way than as a friend. All that changes one night, when James finds your diary.
Warnings: Fluff and Kissing.
Author’s note: Hey lovelies, this was originally supposed to be a smutty fanfic but I decided to write the clean version first. If this does well, I’ll write the ‘spicy’ version 🤭. Comment if you want the other version and to be added to the tag list💌Happy reading <3
The Gryffindor common room was buzzing with energy after a Quidditch match victory. James Potter, sweaty and exhilarated, looked more beautiful than usual. You watched him slip away from the crowd to grab a Butterbeer, joining you at the snack table.
“That was a nice save towards the end, Potter. I thought you were going to fall off your broom for a second.” You said.
“Fall off? Please, I had it completely under control. The dramatic dive was for effect. You know, to impress certain players” He smirked.
“Oh? And did it work?” You laughed.
“Depends… were you impressed?” He said, leaning in closer to you. A shiver ran down your spine, this is how James was. Friendly flirting until the other person was completely flustered. You should have gotten used to it by now, but you didn’t. You were anything but used to it.
“Maybe a little. But I was mostly impressed you didn’t hit your head again. That’d be, what, the third time this term?” You said, brushing him off.
“Ouch.” He groaned, dramatically clutching his chest.
The celebration continued till 1 am that night, at some point, you, James, Sirius, Marlene and Mary ended up in Sirius and James’ dorm.
“Right, it’s getting late. Me and Mary are gonna head back to our dorm, coming y/n?” Marlene asked.
“Yea. James, is it alright if I leave my bag here? I promise to take it first thing tomorrow.” You said, little did you know that was going to change your entire relationship with James Potter.
The next morning, you woke up with a horrible migraine. Still, holding up your promise, you made your way to James’ dorm, half asleep, to collect your things.
“James?” You called, before entering the room.
“Come in.” He said from inside.
His hair was messier than usual, his face a mix of surprise and sleep. He was sitting on a chair with his legs on the bed, holding up a diary, grinning like he had just found gold.
Oh for Merlin’s sake. Your diary. How could you be so stupid? You had totally forgotten your diary was in your bag, but you didn’t expect him to go through your things.
“What the hell, James?” You said, anger edging in your voice.
You marched over to him, trying to snatch the diary away, but he pulled it out of your reach.
“James Fleamont Potter, you give that back right now!” You screamed.
James laughed, “Relax, I only read… like, two sentences. Three tops. One might’ve mentioned someone with ‘wild hair and a hopeless ego.’ Ring any bells?” He said coyly.
A red blush crept up your face and made its way to your neck.
“You. Are. Utterly. Unbelievable.” You spat.
“Oh, come on, it’s kind of flattering. You wrote about me! That’s practically a love letter in diary terms.” He joked.
“It is not! Now give it back!” You demanded.
“Nuh uh” he teased, childishly.
“I also called you ‘a walking disaster in Quidditch robes.’ Did you read that part?” You asked, annoyed.
“I knew you noticed my robes! You do like me.” James said, gasping dramatically.
“James” you groaned, getting more and more embarrassed now.
“Hey—don’t be embarrassed. If I had a diary, you’d be in it. Probably underlined. With little stars and everything.” He joked, stepping closer.
He handed you your diary back, his fingers brushing yours just a second longer than they needed to.
“I didn’t read anything else, promise.” He said.
“Thanks…” you whispered.
There was a pause, neither of you moved. The room was quiet, except for the crackle of the fireplace. You could hear James’ heartbeat, his breath and you could feel his closeness.
“You know…. I was half- hoping it was about me, when I found it.” His voice was quieter, as he took a small step closer.
Your eyes searched his, looking for truth.
“Why?” You asked.
“Because I’ve been walking around pretending not to feel what I feel. And it’s exhausting, honestly. I’m James Potter—I’m not built for subtle.” He answered.
“That is definitely true.” You said, smiling and rolling your eyes.
“So if you’re pretending too… I don’t know. Maybe we can stop. Just for a minute.” He pleaded, taking your palms in his.
He was so close now. Close enough for you to see the freckles under his eyes, close enough for you to feel his breath on your cheeks, close enough for you to smell his scent.
His voice dropped lower, barely a breath.
“Is it so terrible? Liking me?”
“No. It’s terrifying.” You admitted.
James’ hand slips up to your cheek, his thumb brushing your jaw, you lean into him instinctively. He closed the space between the two of you, placing a warm kiss on your lips. It was soft, but a little hesitant at first, like the both of you were trying to memorise this feeling. His lips move against yours gently, like a question being answered with every second you didn’t pull away.
You break apart, just barely, your foreheads rest together, and he’s smiling like he’s completely undone.
“Took you long enough.” You smiled, breathless.
“Oi—I was being respectful. Chivalrous. Noble Gryffindor and all that.” He countered.
“You read my diary, James.” You defended.
“And I’d do it again if it brought me here.” He grinned, wrapping his arms around you.
hi! i have this really cute idea for regulus x fem! reader. so reader is a animagus and it’s winter time so sometimes she’ll shift into a their animal form, preferably a cat, and goes seek out warmth. but reader is also besties with remus and knows he’s a werewolf, his body temperature runs a lot warmer then anyone else so she goes to room to cuddle. when that happens, regulus immediately knows they reader is with remus and, begrudgingly, goes to gryffindor to steal reader back.
when he gets there, sirius is pouring and complains to reggie that “your girlfriend is stealing my boyfriend” and regulus snaps back by saying “well your boyfriend is stealing my girlfriend” and reader and remus are amused but their bickering but don’t care.
anon. anon. i am giving you the BIGGEST kiss, you don't even know. this is perhaps the best idea i've seen in a while and so i love you. i will be thinking about this throughout all of winter, thank you.
Words: 3k
Warnings: not proofread, fem!reader, references to previous black brothers angst, disgusting amounts of fluff, best friends can cuddle platonically regardless of gender i will fight you on this, background rosekiller and wolfstar, childhood best friend!remus, implied gryffindor!reader, sirius pretends to be jealous but is not
When Regulus accepted Sirius’ attempt to mend their relationship, he had expected to get his big brother back in full and no more. The person who understands him best, the boy he needed to lean on – it was all he wanted to get out of it. Perhaps he expected to have to grown tolerant of his brother’s friends, but that was something he dreaded, if he at all thought of.
What Regulus had not expected was to be introduced to and fall head over heels in love with you.
Remus’ childhood best friend, the more reserved one of the bunch that he had always seen floating around with them, but whose voice he had never had to roll his eyes at, thus never interacted with. It bewildered him now how he once upon a time barely thought of you, regarded you.
Now he knew you were delightful, and Regulus was positively smitten.
It had been exactly what Regulus had never thought he would get – an easy love. Like your friends, you were open and honest and loyal to the bone, and it spilled over like honey into your relationships with those around you. Once you caught a glance of his clearly lovestruck eyes, you melted, and the puddle was caught delicately in his hands.
Since then, that is where he has held you. In the palms of his hands, close to his heart. He learned more than he perhaps wanted to know about himself during the process of opening up to you, and you showed him a patience he still is not entirely certain he deserves. But you gave him your time, your moments, your touches and your lips, and he received and received without complaint.
When the two most important people in Regulus’ life – one a fervent, natural devotion, another a sassy, passionate rivalry – were in the same hazardous circle of loud-mouthed Gryffindor friends, he eventually had to capitulate that he could no longer just tolerate them. They were family.
God, what love has cost him.
Regulus walked into his dorm room where you have spent more days than not for the past few months, and sighed defeatedly when all he finds there is Barty laying on top of Evan in some odd position that cannot possibly be comfortable.
“Hello to you too, Black. Thrilling to see you.” Barty’s voice was laced with sarcasm, but there was no menace there as of yet.
“Yeah, yeah,” Regulus grumbled as he threw his bookbag onto his bed and sat down. “You seen Y/N lately?”
“You mean since you were all snuggled up this morning? Nah.”
Regulus rolled his eyes painfully hard at his oldest friend, murmuring a soft sod off before tossing whatever was closest – his pyjama t-shirt – in Barty’s general direction, missing by a good metre. He is a seeker and not a chaser for a reason.
“What of it, Reg?” Evan mumbled, but it was distorted by Barty’s elbow being more or less shoved into his mouth. He could never sit still.
“Just figured she’d be here, ‘s all. She finished class before me.” Regulus falls down onto his bed, curls spilling onto the emerald sheets as he stares at the ceiling, picturing you there and then immediately kicking himself for being that down bad. Then reminding himself with the therapy-speech Sirius has been teaching him, love is a strength not a weakness, it’s good to feel your feelings. Yada yada. "It's been a long day."
“Maybe she got tired of your sorry ass.” Barty laughed at his own joke only to be smacked by Evan’s finally-freed hand.
“Or yours, you sod.”
“Nah, Treasure absolutely adores me.” Barty propped himself up to flash you both a grin. “See, unlike you, I’m fun.”
“Interesting word to substitute insufferable with.” Evan said, leaning his face up from underneath Barty, as if to intimidate him.
“You love me,” Barty drawled before kissing the blond soundly.
“Would you guys please stop flirting?” Regulus’ voice was closer to a groan than anything else. He pressed the backs of his hands to his eyes, seeing stars and thinking of you. Stupid poetic feelings.
“Just because you can’t keep track of your girl doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy ourselves.” Barty pointed an accusatory finger at Regulus. “I would classify that demand as rude.”
“Bite me.”
“Only if your girlfriend says yes.” This time it was Evan’s turn of tuning into Regulus’ torture.
“And she would.” Barty winks at him.
This time it’s a pillow Regulus throws at them, and it lands perfectly, smack in the middle of Barty’s face.
“Oi!” He calls as he throws it back. “Either you quit it, or you throw me your jumper, it’s freezing in here.”
“You’re literally in bed, Barty.” Regulus looks at him, unamused. “Just–”
He trails off, gaze falling from Barty to the wall behind him as he pieces the puzzle together and realisation dawns on his face. The other boys seem to have caught on as they both cock their heads curiously at him.
“Of course,” Regulus whispers, first in marvel and then it morphs into something between exasperation and disgust. “Of course.” At last, he gets a determined look on his face, slapping his palms on his knees as he sits up from bed and grabs his jumper to go.
“Excuse you, what just happened?” Barty says, increasingly louder throughout his sentence as he realises Regulus is headed for the door, thick wool jumper tucked under his arm. “Hey!”
Regulus throws the boys a look over his shoulder, smirking at them and shaking his head before shutting the door and walking off. He barely catches Evan’s “shush, you baby, I’ll warm ya” before he is out of earshot.
A man with a purpose and half a plan stalks off, beginning the treacherous journey from the Slytherin dungeons to the Gryffindor dormitories.
What is the single thing Regulus knows can keep you from him when you’re otherwise attached at the hip? The cold.
What is the one person you go to for anything and everything, especially dealing with the cold? A certain ragged boy with a wolfish smile that he knows is to be found only behind the portrait of an increasingly annoying woman.
“Password?” The Fat Lady asked, quirking a brow ridiculously high as she regards Regulus with a mutual disgust.
“Catulus leonis.” Regulus does not bother holding back the eyeroll at the ridiculous passphrase.
She looks at him a moment or five longer than she needs, almost as if considering not letting him in despite his answer being perfectly correct, before she finally swings open the door wordlessly.
Regulus mutters a harsh thank you, Pureblood upbringing having knocked some politeness into him he is just not able to forego, no matter how severe his beef – as Sirius says – with the woman is.
When he finally approaches the offending dorm, the door opens fast enough to knock some wind across his face, and he is met with a set of black curls and a superfluous frown that both match his own.
“Regulus. Thank Merlin.”
“Good to see you too, Siri. How'd you know it was me?”
"Recognised your footsteps. Now, c'mon."
Regulus pushes in past his brother and his eyes immediately find Remus Lupin’s bed. To the unaware, it would just look like the scrawny boy was innocently laying on his bed, head propped against a mountain of pillows and reading another one of his paperbacks.
However, Regulus knew better and could see the perfect girlfriend-shaped lump underneath Remus’ jumper, shielded by his arms as he held his book over his stomach.
Or, at least shaped like this rather specific form of his girlfriend.
“Hello, amour, I’ve been looking for you.” Regulus’ voice is addressed to the bump on Remus’ chest, but he looks up at him with a quirked brow and a smug smile tugging on the corner of his lips.
“Didn’t know we were on a pet name-basis, Reg. Good to know.”
“Absolutely not.” Sirius and Regulus chorus at the exact same time, and Regulus fights back the wince at how painfully similar they are in this moment.
“Reggie,” Sirius finally whines. “Your girlfriend’s been stealing my boyfriend for the past two hours. Do something!”
Despite having a very similar sentiment settled in his own chest, Regulus gives his brother a pull yourself together look as he comes up to stand beside him, near the occupied bed. “I’m fairly certain your boyfriend has stolen my girlfriend equally as much,” he tuts.
“Whatever, just do something.” Sirius waves his hand towards Remus’ still very relaxed state with something a bit too close to a pout forming on his face.
“There’s no need to be jealous, Pads, the poor girl’s just cold,” Remus chides, with a teasing glint in his eye that clearly shows he knows his boyfriend is being dramatic for the bit and not actually upset. "Gotta help 'er out."
“‘M not jealous. I’m needy.” Sirius’ deadpan stare is not affected by Remus’ laughter nor Regulus’ barely-contained snort.
“Glad you admit it,” Regulus says slyly, patting Sirius on his shoulder twice, who immediately shrugs his hand off with a scowl.
“Like you’re any better, you slithered all the way up from the snake pit to fetch her. At least I’m open about it.”
Before Regulus has the chance to retort, Remus puts his book down in his lap and reaches out a hand for Sirius, which he immediately takes. “I told you you could come lay in the bed with us, love,” Remus murmurs and swipes his thumb over the back of Sirius’ hand.
If he did not feel the same way, Regulus would have given Sirius hell for how he seemed to absolutely soften in the sunlight of his boy. “Yeah, I know, Moons, I’m just being theatrical.”
Remus laughs once more, and this time his chest rumbling results in a distinct prrrt! coming from the inside of his jumper. Up through the collar, cheek smashed against Remus’, comes the tentative head of beautiful grey-and-white fur and slow-blinking yellow eyes, still riddled with sleep.
“Good morning, amour,” Regulus coos, ignoring Sirius’ snort as he drops down to squat beside Remus’ bed so his face is lined up with yours.
You pur, stretching beneath the fabric, a single paw escaping beside your head through the collar as you roll over onto your back. Your eyes remained trained on Regulus, and though he knows cats can’t actually smile, he swears you were smiling at him.
“Sorry to wake you, princess,” Sirius drawls as he looks down at you from where he is leaning on the bedpost beside Remus. “But have you seeped up enough warmth for me to get my boyfriend back yet?”
You make a faux hissing sound before ducking your head down, so it’s just barely hidden by the collar.
Remus laughs heartily, setting his book completely away this time so his hand can come up to rest on your cat-form, petting you through his jumper. “It’s alright kitten, take your time.”
The exposed paw lightly hits Remus’ cheek in retaliation, and this time it is Sirius and Regulus’ turn to laugh at his expense. “Ow! I share my warmth with you and this is what I get in return?”
From the movement beneath the fabric, Regulus assumes you’re nuzzling your head against his chest in apology.
“Amour, I brought your favourite jumper of mine and promise to make you so much hot cocoa if I can steal you back. We can be in your dorm room instead of mine, it’s warmer in there, right?” A smile remains consistent on Regulus’ face as he talks to you.
Sirius pats him on the back, murmuring something about you’re so whipped that he doesn’t bother to pay attention to.
More movement beneath the fabric, and then suddenly your ears are poking out of the neckline again – because why would you make it easy for yourself and use the big exit, when you can squeeze your way through a tight opening? You’re a cat after all.
Remus seems to be thinking the same as he laughs while you attempt to climb out beside his head, soft fur brushing against his skin and making up for the occasional claw you use for traction.
Regulus attempts to bite back the coos as he sees more and more of you, recognising your movements as sluggish with sleep, no doubt coaxed into it by finally being comfortable.
“Thanks for today, see you again tomorrow, same time?” Remus teases, head turned towards you as you headbutt him lovingly, finally fully escaped from his jumper and standing on his shoulder. He nuzzles you back and scratches your head in goodbye.
Another prrrt! escapes you in greeting as you saunter your way across Remus and plop onto the small strip of mattress on his side where Regulus’ hands are open and ready to receive you.
“Hi, sweetie,” he whispers as you allow him to scoop you up into his arms while he’s still squatting beside the bed. He holds you like an infant, tight to his body and securely supported. You immediately begin to purr loudly, nuzzling your head even further into his neck and shoulder.
Regulus does not bother to hold back the slight giggle as your caresses tickle him.
“Good gods, are you two sappy,” Sirius groans, but when Regulus looks up, there is a wide grin on his face. A slightly teasing one admittedly, but a grin nonetheless.
Then, Regulus recognises where Sirius is grinning at him from – properly cuddled up besides Remus on the opposite side of the bed, arms beneath his jumper, soaking up the leftover warmth from you.
“Wait– how did you get there so fast?” Regulus’ voice is almost incredulous, stopping his greeting of you – earning him a harrumphing meow – to narrow his eyes at his brother. “I didn’t even notice you move from beside me.”
“What can I say; I am a dedicated man.” Sirius nuzzles into Remus’ cheek, not much unlike how you were mere seconds ago, albeit his involved a tad many more kisses.
“You’re weird, that’s what you are,” Regulus laughs as he stands up with you in his arms.
You turn around to look up at him with those big, slitted eyes of yours. When you extend your neck further towards his face, Regulus lifts you higher so you can give him the cat-kisses you so evidently wanted, his lips curling at your touch.
Sirius lifts a brow at the two of you. “Yeah. I’m the weird one.”
Regulus scoffs at him, but when you continue to caress your furry cheeks against his lips and chin, it is difficult for any menace to remain serious.
“Thank you for your deviant supernatural warmth keeping my girlfriend alive, Lupin, but I’d like to steal her away from you now.”
“By all means, Black, you’ve already stolen her from me once,” Remus harrumphs, pretending to be some scorned faux older brother but his eyes betray his facade; he is happy for you.
Regulus chooses to ignore it nonetheless.
“Brother.” He nods at Sirius. “Soon to be brother-in-law.” He nods at Remus. “We bid you goodnight.”
“Try not to undo all of Moony’s hard work by freezing her right back up with your freakishly cold feet!” Sirius calls after him as he heads towards the door. He then promptly gives out a soft yelp that indicates Remus corrected him in some physical way.
“Goodnight love, goodnight Reg,” Remus calls instead.
“Yeah, bye, doll!” Sirius adds, whispering more to himself, “he’s mine again now.”
You give out a tired meow that is so cute it makes Regulus’ heart clench with endearment. You cuddle properly up into the crook of his neck as he carries you out, softly closing the door behind him with a smile.
He shifts you in his grip so he can look down at you more carefully. “You are so unbelievably predictable. And even cuter than that again, which is saying something,” he murmurs to you and you respond with quiet meows.
He looks at you curiously. “Are you going to remain in cat form the whole night?”
Your tail twitches teasingly, your only other response is a quiet prrt as you close your eyes into the warmth of his neck again. He laughs, covering your feline body with his hands as he carries you, to keep the warmth in.
He sneaks into your dorm – thankfully often unoccupied as Marlene is with Dorcas and Mary is with Pandora – and settles you down onto your plush mattress and pillows. He undresses and gets ready for bed, while you’re resting your head on the pillow, observing him, but just before getting under the covers, he slips on his jumper.
“It’s so soft I could cry, Reggie,” you had whispered to him when you cuddled up to him when he wore it around you for the first time. “I fear I can never let you go now.”
Regulus slides under the blankets with a knowing smile, opening the hem, allowing you to creep under, chest against chest with your head poking out of the collar to rest at the bottom of his neck.
“I'm no werewolf, but I’ll keep you warm with my love, amour,” he whispered to you in the dark, one hand combing through your fur protectively underneath his own jumper.
He swears, he could hear the little cat snort against his skin.
Regulus fell desperately deeper in love.
A man who yearns is a man who earns
Wolfstar X fem!reader
Summary - In which Remus and Sirius quietly ( not really) yearn for the reader
Warnings : none, (delusional Sirius), shy reader I guess
A//N My first Wolfstar fic !
Word count: 1.2k
“ I want her so bad” Sirius groans softly watching as you laugh along with Lily and Marlene. Remus who had been reading had promptly stopped as he had watched his boyfriend look at the girl who they had both been crushing on as of late. You were in the same year as them, a beautiful and smart Ravenclaw who just so happened to waltz in the boys life and change them forever.
“If you keep starting at her she’ll think you’re a creep” Remus tells his boyfriend
“She’ll think about me !” Sirius gasps, Remus shakes his head at his gasp
“ You really need to stop”
“Why won’t she look at us “ Whines Sirius sitting next down next to Remus who was quick to wrap his arm around his waist and pull him closer.
“Don’t know love” He plants a kiss on his neck making Sirius shiver.
“Do you think she even knows our names” The young Gryffindor pouts.
In all honesty Y/N did know Remus and Sirius, how could she not? The famous group, the marauders. Known for pulling pranks and bringing fun to Hogwarts, it was hard to miss such a group.
Remus and Sirius especially, god were they gorgeous. Remus with his beautiful brown eyes that seemed to be lit by the sun itself, his curly hair that was always curled to perfection, his old soul which was so kind and oh Merlin’s beard was he so smart. The few classes she had with him where she would hear him answer the professors question’s correctly and even sometimes add even more information made her Ravenclaw heart swoon.
Sirius Black, oh Sirius Black. He captivated everyone’s heart. His unique grey eyes and long hair, and that smile. That Sirius Black smile. Charming is what he is, suave with his words having anyone flustered and blushing when Sirius would flirt with them. Everyone wanted him or wanted to be him. But only Remus Lupin was lucky enough to have a slice of whatever Sirius was offering but god did he want top give a piece to you.
You the beautiful creature who captured their hearts when Lily walked into the common room that fateful day. You both were working on a project for Potions. Both of them were awestruck by you. Swearing they had never seen someone as beautiful as you. They knew then and there that they wanted you, the question was how?
It seemed like any time that they wanted to see you, you were scurrying away, off to the library, your dorm or somewhere else where they could not reach you.
One time when Sirius was walking with James after heading back from quidditch practice. Then a sudden figure zoomed right past them, it was you. Sirius blinked and he turned to look at you as you left, he wanted to say something but by gods were you quick. As you turned the corner and disappearing from his sight he promptly fell to his knees.
“Come back my love PLE-“
As you had turned the corner, you stopped swearing that you had heard something
“Must of been the wind” you muttered to yourself.
It was not in fact the wind but none other than Sirius Black dramatically on his knees clutching his chest, the other hand reaching out for you.
“Mate get up this is embarrassing” James muttered
Truth is- you’re painfully shy. Having a crush on Remus Lupin and Sirius Black the it couple right next to Lily and James was painful, for so many reasons. One being the most obvious, they’re both together and you were no home wrecker. Two you could not imagine even being friends with them. They were so different from you, in a good way.
While you were more quiet and reserved, staying in your dorm to read and study. You enjoyed your me time more than anything. Parties at Hogwarts were something you rarely attended, given the fact that you didn’t drink or dance. The few times you did go was because a friend’s or Lily had dragged you. You would see both boys at these parties and they were the life of the party there was no way they would look over at you and want you, at least that’s what you’ve told yourself thus far.
It was far from the truth. Remus and Sirius both yearned for you silently or at least remus did, Sirisu was alwasy loud about those he cared about.
But enough was enough, both of them decided that they were going to get your attention one way or another.
As you exited you class, you sighed as you slinged your bag on your shoulder, the bag was heavy a reminder of all the homework you had to do.
"Ok I finish reading chapters one through twenty and then I can start my essay and give my self enough time-" you muttered to yourself but promptly stopped as your eyes landed on two figures. Remus and Sirius. Quickly and without blinking you turned your heel and began to walk the other way.
"No wait- hold on love" you heard Sirius voice as he catched up to you, now this is the one time you cursed Sirius and Remus's great hieght becasue with a couple of strides they had already caught up to you.
"Dove please" Remus said almost pleadingly. The nickname made you stop walking. The boys both next to you.
"Merlin's beard, your worse than a snitch, I don't even think James would be able to catch you" Sirius huffed in light laughter, Remus smiled soflty.
"We've been looking for you " said Remus
"You have?" you responed in a quiet voice
"yes love, for what feels like an eternity-"
"two months" Remus corrected
"felt like forver to me" huffed Sirius his lips almost pouting
"what for?" you ask
"well we wanted to ask you something actually" Remus started
"We want you so bad" blurted Sirius, now that made you completely freeze up.
"Sirius we said we were going slow" hissed Remus, swatting his partner gently on the shoulder.
"I can't- this will not be a slow burn love, I will not allow it" He shakes his head before grabbing your hand.
"Love, please we've been going crazy without you, you drive us insane and we want you in all ways possible, please let us treat you right, we won't ever hurt you and your days will be filled with love and passion-"Sirius's love declaration was cut of by his boyfriend.
"Pads you're scaring her" He says as he had been wacthing your reaction and it was all wide eyed and he wore you had stopped breathing for a moment. Sirius quickly shut up, the quickest Remus had ever seen him. After a moment of silence you finally spoke.
"You want me- you both want me ?" you sputtered finally breathing again
"Most ardently" Remus answered. You look between both boys, whom you've had been crushing onf for so long, who you had never ever in your life believed that they would ever look at you in that way but here they were. Sirius basically on his knees begging you to talk and Remus with his beautiful eyes asking, no pleading for a positive response. You drew in a deep breathe before answering.
"I want you guys too" You confess
"Praise Merlin and David Bowie she said yes Remus!" exclaimed Sirius.
"Yes I heard her love thank you" chuckled Remus who was now looking you fondly. Sirius who was still holding your hand gave it a small squeeze.
"Did you hear how Remus pulled a Mr. Darcy on you "
For My Eyes Only
Tumblr media
Sirius Black x Fem!Reader
Summary: In which you have a secret a certain Marauder wants to know, or more specifically, Sirius wants to get his hands on that diary you're always writing in.
Warnings: Parents divorcing, sad feelings but should be mainly fluff (also sort of, invasion of privacy? You'll see what I mean)
Word Count: 2.4k
A/N: I literally just finished this but I really loved this idea, although I started this oneshot months back but I never got back to it, due to which I forgot what the original plot was but I wrote this and I love it! I hope you like it too! Enjoy! <33
.·:*¨¨* ≈☆≈ *¨¨*:·.
“Why does L/n always have that book with her?” Sirius questioned one late autumn evening, as he sat with the boys who were all in sixth year now.
“Who?” Peter questioned clueless.
“L/n.” Sirius said, pointing across the room at you. You were too lost writing into your diary that you didn’t realize the four biggest mischievous boys at Hogwarts were talking about none other than you. Sirius had noticed that since the beginning of the school year, you always wrote in your journal in the evenings.
“Leave Y/n be, Padfoot.” Remus commented, “Let Y/n be at peace.”
“Hey, I was just curious, that’s all!” Sirius exclaimed, appalled.
Remus rolled his eyes, “And we all know how that goes.” This earned a deep chuckle from James, making Sirius glare at him.
“Shut up.”
Sirius returned his gaze to you, watching you scribble into your diary with a fond smile. He knew you through Lily Evans and you two were sort of friends, but as he gazed at you writing away in that y/f/c journal, he knew that he wouldn’t rest until he got his hands on it. After all, once Sirius Black was intrigued, he was unstoppable.
*✧・゚: *✧・゚:
You were writing away in your diary, pouring out all your heart. The happy things, the sad things, the in between things. That is until you felt a shadow loom over you, and you hastily snapped your diary shut and turned around. Sirius groaned, his shoulders slumping in defeat, as he was not able to get a glance of the page, before he masked that behind his confidence.
"Hey there, L/n. What are you writing in that little thing?"
You felt your cheeks heat up before you cleared your throat, standing up with an air of determination.
"That Sirius is for my eyes only, and not your business." You gave him a sweet smile and walked away, leaving Sirius gazing after your retreating figure.
"Run all you want Y/n but you can't escape me."
*✧・゚: *✧・゚:
“Hey, pretty girl.”
You flinched at the new voice, cheeks warming as the words registered in your head. You turned to find Sirius sitting beside you, his hand cradling his chin as he winked at you.
“You wouldn’t mind having me as your Potions partner, would you, darling?”
You blinked owlishly, your heart fluttering at the name. “Why me, Sirius?”
Sirius let out a loud and dramatic sigh, “Well you see dearest Y/n, Remus is mad at me for eating his chocolate.” Your gaze flickered to the desk behind you, the said boy clenching his jaw as he glared at Sirius. “And James has already partnered with Peter, on purpose too, I really hate him sometimes.” He muttered the last part as you turned to look at the back of the class, where James and Peter were seated together, James sticking his tongue out at his best mate to which Sirius flipped him off.
“So that leaves me to sit with you. Plus you’re a intelligent and pretty girl.” Sirius finished, watching as you blushed.
“Oh- Oh, I see.” You answered, eyes flying to the chalkboard as Slughorn began to speak, for which you were thankful for as anymore of Sirius’ teasing and your soul would leave your body.
Once the Potions Master had explained the lesson for the day, the class got to their feet as they were to prepare a potion.
“I’ll got get the ingredients while you set up the cauldron.” You instructed, giving Sirius a gentle smile before walking away.
Sirius, with a sly grin playing on his lips, swiftly set up the cauldron, before slipping his hand into your bag. Once he found what he was looking for, he glanced your way and when he was sure you were still busy, Sirius cast alohomora on the lock and flipped open the journal to a random page.
Dear Diary,
I feel so hollow and empty. My parents are divorcing and worst of all, I have to live with my mother. She did love me once but ever since we all found out I was a witch, she’s changed. My father's love never wavered and I really want to live with him but on his own, he can barely keep himself up financially, and I can’t burden him with myself. Even though I recently got a job, it won’t be much help.
I return to school soon so with that I can at least breathe a sigh of relief, but I can’t burden Lily and the girls with my problems either but at least I’ll be happy for the time being.
Until next time.
Love,
Y/n
Sirius felt his heart twist. You seemed to be such a great person and yet you were hiding so much behind that warm smile of yours. Sirius quickly locked the diary and closed your bag, straightening just in time for you to return to him.
“Here we are.” You stated, setting the supplies down on the table in front of the pair of you. “Shall we start?” You gently asked, although cocking your head slightly to the side when Sirius didn’t respond but was merely staring at you.
“Sirius?”
He shook his head slowly. “Hm, yeah, let’s start.”
Throughout the rest of the lesson, Sirius would gaze at you in thought from time to time, and his stomach twisted with small guilt for having read through your diary when it truly was private. But that incident merely intrigued the boy more about you.
*✧・゚: *✧・゚:
Sirius found himself thinking more about you over the next while, and knowing what you were going through, he began to spend more time with you. After all, he understood what it was like to not receive love from your own, and to be treated differently for not being like everyone else.
At first you had found it suspicious, just like you had in potions the other day, after all you had caught Sirius trying to read your personal diary before then. However you later on realized that Sirius was just trying to spend time with you, even if you were a bit baffled to as to why, because while the two of you were sort of friends, the pair of you had never spent much time together, so this was very new. But you went along with it, finding the time with Sirius enjoyable.
Sirius tried his best to make you laugh, relishing in the feeling when he heard your beautiful laughter, or smirking at you whenever he managed to make you blush with one of his pet names. However, it was that beautiful and captivating smile of yours that made him feel that his heart had stopped beating.
Merlin, what had started out as an attempt to read your diary after his curiosity had been piqued, led to Sirius being absolutely smitten with the beauty called Y/n L/n.
One late evening, after running away from Filch and having evaded detention, Sirius entered the common room only to find you fast asleep on the couch. His lips turned upwards at the sight and he walked over to your sleeping form, bending down in front of the couch as he admired you.
Realizing you had fallen asleep while attempting to complete a school assignment, Sirius very gently shook you by the shoulder, wanting you to sleep well in your bed rather than the couch whilst surrounded by your school textbooks and parchments and quills.
Your eyelids fluttered open at last, y/e/c coloured eyes flitting about as you blinked a few times, before your gaze landed on Sirius and it softened.
“Sirius?”
“It’s me, love.” He answered, stroking your hair, “I hate waking you up but I’d rather you go sleep in your bed, darling.” He told you, a very warm expression sitting upon his face.
You softly smiled, nodding as you lightly squeezed his hand in gratitude before standing up and trying to gather your things as quick as possible. Once done, you turned to Sirius and shot him your warm smile once again.
“Goodnight, Sirius.”
He returned the gesture.
“Goodnight, Y/n.”
You turned on your heels and began your ascension up the stairs leading to your dormitory. Sirius watched you go before he made a move to leave. However, something caught his attention from the corner of his eye and he halted.
There, lying tucked into one corner, was your diary.
Sirius glanced back at the stairs of the girls dormitory, before his grey eyes flickered back to the journal.
He knew he shouldn’t but now he wanted to make sure if you were doing better.
So, letting his curiosity win over his guilt, Sirius once again, broke through your lock and flipped open onto your last diary entry. Nothing could have prepared the young Black for what he was about to read.
Dear Diary,
Things have been better but also sort of… weird? The good news is that perhaps I can move in with my father for when I return home for the summer.
Then there’s also Sirius.
He’s so sweet and kind, and although the flirting is constant, he makes me smile and I feel so happy around him.
At that, Sirius smiled to himself, glad he could brighten your days.
But, I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I think I’m going mad. Sirius Black may as well be the death of me. He makes me feel things I shouldn’t. He smiles at me, my stomach erupts with butterflies. He laughs, my heart flutters. He gives me a cheeky wink, I go weak in the knees. He licks his lips and I can’t help but imagine how they would taste.
Oh Merlin, help me, I feel something that’s more than friends for Sirius and it’s driving me insane. I can’t afford to ruin everything with my feelings, I don’t want to lose our friendship but my heart is making everything so much more hard.
Oh Godric, help me.
I’ll write again if Sirius’ charm doesn’t claim my life before that.
Love,
Y/n
Sirius stared at the page in utter disbelief. He couldn’t believe what he had just read. These were words written by you about how you felt regarding him. Sirius could not understand how such an amazing girl like yourself could feel about him like this.
Footsteps began to echo around the common room and in a panic, Sirius snapped shut the diary, head turning in time to find you walking back down the stairs.
When you had gone up to your dormitory, after rummaging through your bag, you came to the realization that you had left your diary back in the common room. What you had not expected was to find Sirius in the common room with your diary in his hand.
“Sirius?”
“Y/n.” He said, standing up. He watched you walk over to him, a nervousness setting onto your face.
“I left something here so-“
You cut off as Sirius wordlessly lifted his hand, holding your diary out which you gently took from him.
“Thank you.”
You made a move to leave but Sirius caught your wrist, freezing you on the spot.
“Tell me it’s not true.” He said, making you turn around with slightly rounded eyes.
“What?”
“Tell me that what you wrote in your diary isn’t true. Tell me you don’t feel more for me than just friends.”
Your breath hitched in your throat.
“Sirius, I…” You sighed, “I can’t.” You uttered out, watching Sirius’ eyes widen. “I can’t lie to you. You make me feel so special and-“
You cut off as Sirius placed his lips on yours, pulling you close to himself by your waist. Your grip on your diary slackened and it fell to the floor with a thud, as your arms went to wrap themselves around his neck.
It was just as you had imagined but even better and it was just you and him, and it was just perfect.
You both finally pulled apart after minutes, panting as you pressed your foreheads together.
“Go out with me?” Sirius asked, icy grey eyes gazing lovingly into yours. Sirius melted upon seeing the biggest smile grace your lips at that question.
“Of course.” You replied before Sirius pulled you in for another kiss.
*✧・゚: *✧・゚:
Dear Diary,
It's crazy really that a few years have passed since I graduated out of Hogwarts with my best friends, we all have our own jobs and lives now, but what's even crazier is that I'm finally married!
Never would I have thought that one day I would be in love and happily married to Sirius Black. If someone had told my younger self that, I would have laughed at them.
The ceremony was today, a perfect day too with the sun shining down, a slight breeze, the bird chirping as Sirius and I exchanged our vows in the presence of our friends and family. I couldn't be happier.
You felt an arm wrap around your waist as someone placed their chin on your shoulder.
"What's my darling wife doing?"
You smiled at that.
Wife.
You were officially Sirius' wife.
The thought made you giddy.
"Ah." Sirius clicked his tongue, "You're writing in your diary."
You didn't reply but instead resumed scribbling on the page.
I'd love to write more but I'm afraid my very annoying husband is disrupting-
"Hey!" Sirius exclaimed in mock offence, "Since when did I become annoying?" He paused, a sly grin sliding onto his lips, "You don't complain when I'm giving you a kiss or more." He said, earning an eye roll from you but even Sirius could feel that you were merely hiding a smile.
I'd love to write more but I'm afraid my very annoying charming husband is disrupting, I believe he wants to go to bed, it's been a long day after all, but a day I would love to relive everyday if I could.
Love,
Y/n Black
"I still can't believe you took my last name."
You closed your diary, putting it away before turning around in Sirius' arms, your arms going to lock behind his neck.
"Of course I would." You lovingly answered, gazing at him with adoration, "It's a part of your identity and I would love nothing more than to be called Mrs. Black." You told him, placing a kiss on his cheek before looking back into his eyes.
Sirius looked at you with such love and tenderness that you melted.
"I love you so much, Mrs. Black."
Your lips turned up into a graceful yet enchanting smile.
"I love you too, Mr. Black."
I hate to do asks but like just imagine this! At hogwarts there is a group that’s kinda like a polyamorous relationship but just for s*x and it’s like slytherin and gryffindor students and they decided they wanted someone from like a year younger so they start to slowly talk to innocent reader to get them comfortable around them before starting to get touchy with her (maybe she is a hufflepuff? That’s my house)
i’m a hufflepuff too 🫶🏻 thanks for feeling comfy enough to send me this ask if you don’t usually like doing that!
a proposition | poly!marauders
Tumblr media
#1
pairing: poly!marauders x fem!reader (james, remus, and sirius, featuring alecto, dorcas, evan, lily, and mary)
warnings: none!
a/n: i don’t even realize my sirius favoritism until i proofread a poly story and i’m like damn okay then WHORE
a proposition: masterlist
────── ☾ ──────
Everyone knew about it.
Even though it wasn’t spoken of in the presence of the students not involved, everyone knew about it.
It wasn’t exactly a polyamorous relationship, because a relationship implies more than just physicality, which is what it was. It was purely for sex.
It was started, of course, by Sirius Black. He had a casanova reputation, and after a while, he started looking to the same group of girls when he was in the mood. His best friend, Remus, unknowingly slept with quite a few of the same girls, and a lot of those girls slept with each other.
James didn’t have as much sex as his two best friends, but he quickly became involved. After a while, a group was established.
All of the students involved knew one another well, and were all somewhat close friends that had not romantic desires toward one another, but unashamed lust. It was a sex positive group, and was essentially just a group of students who fucked each other whenever.
Despite the unofficial, non-relationship standing, they all agreed to only have sex with each other. If they wanted to add someone into the group, they all had to agree to it. So, in a way, it was a relationship, but, in a way, it wasn’t. There wasn’t really a label on what it was, but it worked for them.
Everyone in the group was in the same year at Hogwarts, so they all related to each other well.
However, a few of them began to crave something new- someone not so in line with everyone.
Everyone sat in the Gryffindor common room at an hour late enough that most others were asleep. James sat on the floor, his back resting between Dorcas’s legs as she played with his hair, tying small braids from the curly strands.
“We wanna bring something up,” James said.
“We’re doing we’s now?” Sirius scolded, taking a drag of his cigarette.
“I just mean, there’s something Dorcas and I talked about, and now I’m talking about it with all of you,” James clarified.
“Fair enough, what’s up?” Mary asked.
“I’m wondering how everyone here would feel about inviting someone new into the group.”
Everyone looked around the room at one another, attempting to gage the energy of everyone else before speaking their own opinions.
“I vote we should bring in someone younger,” Evan added.
“Younger like what? Like wouldn’t that be weird?” Remus asked.
“No, idiot, like a year under us,” Evan retorted.
“Where the fuck are we gonna find someone a year younger than us who would be down to do this?” Mary questioned.
Sirius flicked a spark off of his cigarette, clearing his throat and sitting forward a bit. “I have someone in mind.”
“Has everyone been trying to scope out prospects? Am I the only one who hasn’t thought about inviting in anyone new?” Alecto asked.
There was another shared look, and everyone shrugged. They had all thought about a change.
“Who’d you have in mind, Sirius?” Dorcas brought the attention back to his statement.
“There’s this hufflepuff a year below us, seems super innocent though,” Sirius said, taking a quick hit of smoke, “blushes every time I look at her.”
“Is she hot?” Remus asked.
“No, I’m proposing we all fuck her because she’s not hot,” Sirius snapped, his voice laced with evident sarcasm.
Sirius told them your name, and a few of them already knew who you were.
“She’s super cute!” Dorcas exclaimed, “I’m super down for that. Anyone disagree?”
Everybody was on board with the idea.
────── ☾ ──────
“Go on, then.”
James turned to Sirius and Remus, saying, “why does it have to be me? You go do it.”
“Fine,” Sirius replied, “Remus, go talk to her.”
Remus threw his hands up. “What happened to being set on making James do it?”
Sirius shrugged his shoulders. “She’s not gonna be sitting at that table forever. You nervous or somethin’?”
“No,” Remus quickly replied, “this is just, I don’t know, weird.”
“How’s it weird?”
“Because I’m about to go interrupt the poor girl in order to talk to her with the intention of later asking her to fuck me and all my friends,” Remus explained, “I don’t know, it’s just a weird thing to do.”
“Fuckin’ hell, I can’t stand you two,” Sirius said, flicking a spark off of his cigarette and walking over to you. He sat down across the table from you, watching you intently as you scribbled notes off a textbook.
You didn’t look up because you didn’t even consider that he was sitting near you for a reason.
“Hey.”
You looked up, and Sirius was looking directly at you. The familiar tint of red crept into your cheeks. “Hi.”
He took a drag of his cigarette, kicking his feet up onto the table. “Seen you around quite a bit.”
You couldn’t help but stare at his lips as they wrapped around the cigarette.
“We do go to the same school,” you quipped, smiling to show it was lighthearted.
Sirius smirked, happy you were responding well to him. “I usually don’t get on with anyone that isn’t in my year.”
“Why talk to me then?” you asked.
“Don’t know,” Sirius said, swinging his feet off the table and leaning his torso over the table a bit, “guess somethin’ just caught my eye.”
He knew his flirtations would make you blush, and they did just that. You smiled as you tilted your head back down, pretending to look over your notes in an attempt to calm yourself.
Sirius’s smile only widened watching you squirm under his gaze. “Whatcha studying?”
“Fwoopers,” you responded, “but understanding seems to evade me sometimes.”
“You know who’s super smart? My friend James.”
“Wh-“ before you could even stop him, Sirius signaled over James, who approached you with Remus in tow.
“This is James, James, say hi.”
James sighed. “I’m not a dog, Sirius, unlike some people.”
“Funny,” Sirius retorted, “do you think you could help my new friend with some Care of Magical Creatures work?”
“Oh, I don’t- I’m all good, I-“
“Course,” James lit up, sitting down directly next to you, “lemme see.”
He pulled the textbook toward him, familiarizing himself with what you were reading as Remus took a seat next to Sirius.
You watched a few girls walk past your table, shooting you dirty looks when they noticed that the boys were otherwise occupied with you. Sirius, Remus, and James has grown to be quite popular, and them speaking with a random, younger Hufflepuff was odd. Remus noticed your shift in energy.
“You alright?” he asked.
“Yeah, I just- I’m a year under you, I can’t do your schoolwork for you or anything.”
Sirius furrowed his brows in confusion. “Why would we want you to do our schoolwork?”
“I don’t know, is that not why you’re all talking to me?”
James diverted his attention from your textbook, looking at you in understanding. He felt a pant of guilt for springing everyone on you at once, and a pang of sadness for the fact you didn’t think they would actually want to talk to you just because.
“You forget James is top of his class,” Sirius said, but James didn’t think the mood called for quips. He shot Sirius a look, taking over the conversation.
“We’re sorry if we came off a little strong,” he started, “we all just wanted to say hey. We see you around a lot and think you’re cute, it’s as simple as that.”
“Oh,” you said, suddenly turning weak.
Sirius was smiling and relaxing back into the chair, amused to high hell with how innocent and blushy you were from such a small little compliment. He was so happy he suggested you.
────── ☾ ──────
The following day, Remus and Lily caught you walking down a corridor during your free period.
“Shouldn’t you be in class?” you asked, directing the question toward Remus as they caught up to you.
“Didn’t feel like going,” Remus said, nonchalant.
“You can’t just not go,” you laughed, assuming he wasn’t serious.
“Be careful with this one,” Lily said to you, gesturing to Remus, “he’s a horrible influence. You wouldn’t have caught me dead skipping a lecture last year. He can be very persuasive.”
Something about the way she said it made you swallow hard, suddenly extremely aware of your presence and appearance.
“I’m Lily,” she finally introduced herself, throwing a piece of hair behind her shoulder. She was beautiful, and you became self conscious in her vicinity.
You didn’t respond, just smiled, so she took the opportunity to continue. “My friends and I are all headed to Hogsmeade later. You’re welcome to join if you want!”
“You’d want me to join?” you questioned.
“Don’t be silly, why not? Remus will be there too, and a ton of other really cool people.”
You contemplated your options. You had no reason to believe that Remus and Lily were not genuine in their invitation, and you were excited at the prospect of new friends. “Sure,” you responded.
Lily squealed and gave you a small hug. “I’ll go tell everyone you’re coming!”
“Why would you need-“
“Bye!”
Lily scrambled off down the hallway, leaving you alone with Remus.
“She tends to get excited,” Remus explained, “she’s the friendliest people-person I know. Can get quite annoying, actually.”
You giggled at his statement, and he took the opportunity to brush his hand against yours. You took it as an accident, so you didn’t even react, but then he intertwined his fingers with your own.
You didn’t retract your hand, but instead looked to where yours met his, and then looked at him. He continued looking forward, walking alongside you and not acknowledging what he did. He wanted to see if you would pull away on your own, but you didn’t. It felt comfortable.
You got ready for your trip with your new friends alone, since all of them were in Gryffindor or Slytherin and stuck to their respective common rooms. You caught Lily and Mary outside of their common room, and you walked with them down to Hogsmeade.
Now that you were outside of the castle walls, you noticed a shift in how everyone acted with one another. They were all very touchy, making sexual innuendos at each other and allowing themselves to have fun without restriction.
You followed as they immediately went to Honeydukes. Alecto informed you that Sirius had a serious sweet tooth, and always made everyone go there as the very first stop on their trips. No one complained, though, because they all wanted to anyway.
As you all exited the shop, Dorcas made a show of sucking her lollipop, staring Evan in the eyes as she did so. You felt your cheeks go hot, almost feeling like you saw something you shouldn’t have.
The next stop was the Three Broomsticks, and James saw your confusion as you reached the entrance.
“You okay?” he asked you.
“Yeah, just- didn’t you all just get a whole bunch of sweets?”
James laughed, “and?”
You smiled toward him. “Fair enough.”
“We don’t like to shy away from the pleasure of life, darling,” Dorcas said, imitating a very english accent. Everyone laughed in unison at her impression.
You all crowded around a table, and you remained silent, your hands in your lap for fear of obstructing the space Sirius had to your left and Mary had to your right.
You listened intently as everyone joked and talked about their current courses and professors, when suddenly a question was directed at you.
“So tell me, which professor do you like the least? I just know it’s Professor Bins. I mean, you’re crazy if you don’t say Bins,” Lily said.
“If I had to pick, sure,” you said.
“He’s never done anything to drive you crazy?”
“I mean, there was this one time he assigned so much work over the holiday that someone threw a desk out the window,” you started.
“Wait what? What exactly happened?” Lily asked, enthusiastic that you were finally opening up.
“It was just all textbook readings and analysis, especially about the Ministry and MACUSA and all that, and he said it had to be done by the time we came back from holiday. A few students protested, and he just got more and more angry until someone stood up, picked up a desk, and chucked it out the window. It happened so fast I don’t think anyone had the time to levitate it before it hit the ground.”
Everyone chuckled at the story, and you felt at ease now that you were becoming more and more comfortable with the group.
“And did he…”
“Faint from sheer stress? Oh absolutely,” you added, smiling as you spoke, your posture adjusting to mimic your growing comfort.
You didn’t catch it, but Sirius and Remus exchanged a look, nodding their heads upward at one another as Sirius gently placed his hand on your thigh.
Your body jolted a slight bit as you flinched, startled by the unfamiliar feeling. Sirius immediately pulled his hand away, but you turned to him, and spoke low enough that only he could hear. “It’s okay, you can leave it there.”
Sirius put his hand back, resting it low on your thigh. As time went on, and you continued talking, he began to rub his thumb on your leg. It felt unfamiliar, but soothing and intimate.
Of course you were attracted to the people at the table: they were all insanely attractive and kind to you, but you hadn’t felt this feeling before. Someone was touching you, and so intimately, and it was doing something to you.
Sirius began to slowly creep his hand upward, rubbing your inner thigh under your skirt, only a few inches away from your most sensitive area.
You shuddered and your breathing hitched in your throat, but you didn’t stop him.
You were suddenly snapped back to reality when you noticed everyone watching you. You looked around the table, slightly embarrassed and slightly confused.
“We have a proposition for you,” James said.
Mystery Girl
Sirius Black x fem!Gryffindor!reader
5.7k words
cw: pining, bad flirting advice, fluff
You allow yourself to gaze in his direction for longer than usual. Your head is propped up on your hand, elbow resting on your desk, as you tap the tip of your quill to your lip in faux-thought. Professor Flitwick had announced the rest of class was to be used to work on the essay he assigned last class. Yours is about half done. You really should be thinking about what to write next, or looking up more information in your textbook. But, alas, you stare at Sirius with no real thoughts in your head. If anyone asked though, you would say it was just his general direction.
Sirius isn’t even pretending to work. He’s having a full fledged whispered conversation with James, occasionally leaning forward to include Peter and Remus, the latter of which is attempting to finish his essay. You’re a bit surprised that Remus hasn’t finished it already, but with friends like Sirius, James and Peter, getting work done can be a challenge.
Every once in a while, Sirius looks in your direction and flashes you his impish grin. It’s nothing out of the ordinary. You’re close friends; you’re one of the few that knows he’s an animagus. A few too many drinks one night got you that information. He recapped the whole process for you that night, which left you wondering how he managed to go through it all without mentioning it to you. The more you thought about it afterwards, the more you realized that his letters that summer were particularly odd.
You became friends with Sirius during second year when you shared a detention with McGonagall. She had you scraping gum off the bottom of desks while Sirius was sweeping ash off the floor and then mopping and polishing. It was a long and grueling evening for two 12-year-olds. Through complaining and cracking jokes, you managed to survive and a friendship was fostered. It certainly helped that you continued to get assigned detention together over the years.
Somewhere between here and there, you realized that you wanted more than friendship from Sirius, but with him being who he is, you had no way of knowing if your feelings were reciprocated. You buried them as deep as you could. You didn’t want any of your friends, especially the mutual ones with Sirius, to know that you had a crush on him. You’d rather live in the pain of watching him flirt with girl after girl that wasn’t you but have him as a dear friend than live in that same world except have him reject you and never speak to you again.
His wild grin brings you out of your thoughts. He raises his eyebrows as you shiver violently. You look down at your essay, not giving Sirius any attention. You figure he’ll assume you were zoned out, which you were to a point. You don’t let your graze fall back on him for the rest of class, allowing you to miss how he looked back at you several times.
Sirius catches up with you when Flitwick dismisses everyone. Not having worked on his essay, putting his stuff away had only taken him a moment while you carefully place your things into your bag.
“Must’ve had some train of thought going,” he muses, leaning on your desk slightly.
 “What do you mean?” you ask, not looking up.
“Could’ve sworn you were staring right at me. I acknowledge you and nothing!”
You hum. “Then, yeah, I suppose. I was trying to make some progress.”
“And did you?” he asks as you leave the classroom and walk together to your next class.
“Not much,” you sigh. “Added a paragraph but it’s still too short. Can’t even bewitch my handwriting to be larger to make it close enough.”
“We can work on it later. I have…” His voice trails off as he looks at the parchment hastily shoved into his Charms’ book. “Half of an introduction.”
You laugh as you gently bump into Sirius. You are mildly surprised that he even had that much done, but once he sits down and actually works on it, Sirius will finish his much faster than you ever could. At least he was offering to work on it with you. That meant you could ask him to look over yours when you finally finished.
---
The common room empties out slowly as students head to bed. You’ve been sitting on the couch since dinner with your History of Magic textbook laying in your lap, open yet unread. Your eyes are unfocused, staring at the dancing flames in the hearth. Every once in a while you pick up sentences from your friends sitting around you. It’s nothing too exciting. The boys are discussing the intricate details for their next pranks on the Slytherins; the girls making plans for the next Hogsmeade weekend. And you were supposed to be catching up on the assigned reading.
It isn’t until Sirius falls dramatically into your lap that you tear your eyes away from the fire to see that everyone else has gone to bed. His dark hair splays across your book as he looks up at you with his stormy grey eyes.
“Did you finish the chapter?” he asks with a lazy smile. “Or were you seeking divine intervention from the fire?”
“Divine intervention,” you reply, lifting his head ever so gently so you could remove your book, close it and set it aside. “The creation of the Being Division in the 1800s by some bloke Stumpy? End me now.”
Sirius chuckles.
“I’m glad Binns didn’t assign an essay on it. Imagine!” he says, making you smile. “There’s that smile. It’s not like it’ll be on an exam or anything.”
“Sirius, you know it will.”
“And you can look at my paper. Or James’. Remus. Peter, wait… maybe not Peter. But Lily and Marlene would be okay.”
“And that’s cheating. It’s one thing on essays, but exams are another.”
“Fine, study. Put in more effort than you need to.”
You ruffle his hair in response, earning you a noise of complaint from Sirius. You are allowed to play with his hair when it involves running your fingers through it or braiding it. Ruffling it and making it messy? Treason.
“Can I… talk to you about something?” Sirius asks as he adjusts in your lap.
“I don’t know… Talking? Us? I don’t think we’ve ever done that before!” you tease sarcastically.
“No, really, love. I need your opinion on something.”
There is something more earnest in his voice that tells you it’s serious. You know he debated saying that it is but knew you would laugh and say that everything is Sirius with him. It was a dumb joke that you couldn’t get enough of.
You nod somberly.
“Yeah, Sirius. We can talk about anything.”
“So… there’s this girl.”
That one sentence is a punch to your gut. He wants to talk to you about a girl? While past girlfriends have come up in conversations before, it was always a fleeting topic, or they were key players in a story, like dates gone wrong. You thought it was understood that your friendship with Sirius avoided each other’s love lives - not that you ever had a boy to talk about with him.
“O-okay,” you manage to say.
“I really like her. I just… I can’t tell if she likes me and the boys are no help.”
“So you’ve come to me because I’m oh-so-experienced in love?”
“I came to you because you’re a girl. How do girls show that they’re interested when they aren’t obviously flirting?”
You poke his cheek as you say, “Used to the obvious flirting, aren’t you?”
He grins up at you. “Obviously.”
“Well, from what I know, they lean in when you talk, laughing at any and every stupid joke you make. When they touch you, they let their hand linger, especially if it’s on your hand or arm.” You demonstrate your point by touching his bicep and giving it a gentle squeeze. “A little more brazen, they’ll compliment you subtly. You should be able to see it in their smile. Maybe they’ll flutter their eyelashes at you if they are bold. Or desperate. They’ll also jump to your side if you’re alone.” You sigh. “Again, you know I’m too experienced with this flirting thing so…”
“Yeah, but you must’ve flirted with guys before. You’re no hermit.”
You exhale out of your nose. “I don’t flirt much.”
“Much! So you do! Your expertise shan’t be taken for granted!”
Your expertise. Sirius really has you on a pedestal. You sit with him for a while longer, running your fingers through his hair to make up for your earlier ruffling. He closes his eyes as he enjoys the feeling.
Over the next few days, you make a point to not do any of the things you listed off as flirting. You only lean forward when he talks at meals so you can have the excuse of needing to be able to hear him better. You rarely find yourself in a position to have your hand on his so that wasn’t an issue. You aren’t one to bat your eyelashes or stroke his ego. Your two vices are laughing and being at his side, but he’s your best friend. Could you really be expected to not spend time with him and enjoy yourself when you are with him? You think you’ve played it off fairly well.
Sirius thinks you’ve given him faulty advice. He is hyper aware of every interaction he has with this girl. He’s overanalyzing every move she moves around him, and every move he makes. What’s even more frustrating to him is that some of the things you listed off, he can’t imagine her doing. It’s just not who she is.
He decides to bring it up again to you in the Transfiguration Courtyard after classes. James and Marlene are tossing a quaffle back and forth while Lily, Mary, Remus and Peter work on various assignments. You and Sirius are sharing a pack of cigarettes off to the side at Mary’s request. She claims she can’t focus when there’s a cloud of smoke around her head. There’s enough space between you and the rest of the group which gives Sirius the privacy he requires for this topic.
“You know that girl I was telling you about?” he asks you.
“The one you’re so in love with?”
“Yeah, that’d be the one.”
“Then, yes, I know of her. You never told me who it is though.”
“That’s not important right now,” he says, running a hand through his hair before immediately shaking it out. “She’s not doing any of those non-obvious flirting things you said.”
“She’s not?” you echo with your eyebrows raised. What girl could resist the temptations of Sirius?
“She’s not. But now I’m wondering if I’m the problem?”
You laugh loudly. Sirius’ firm gaze and stoney expression tell you he’s not messing around like you assumed he would be.
“Tell me how you, you, could be the problem?”
“Like I told you before, I really like this girl. I do. She’s amazing, a real sweetheart, and I don’t want to mess it up before it’s gone anywhere. So I haven’t flirted with her the same way I’ve flirted with other girls.”
“Damn, Black. You must really like this girl.”
“I do. So much.” He takes a breath and leans in a hair. “I don’t know what I’m doing wrong though. I know she wouldn’t like my usual flirting. She doesn’t respond to the new method. How do I get this girl’s attention?”
You sigh and shake your head.
“It’d be easier to help you if I knew who it was,” you tell him.
“Yeah, I know that, but I… I can’t tell you.”
“Sirius-” you chastise.
“Love, I can’t tell you.”
“Have you asked the boys how to flirt with this mystery girl?”
“Sirius Black, master flirt, is not going to those virgins for help.”
You bite inside of your cheek to keep from laughing at the absurdity of it all: Sirius calling himself a master flirt, knowing damn well that James and Remus weren’t virgins, and that Sirius was willing to come to you, an actual virgin, for help.
“So what do I do?”
You can’t hold back your laughter any more. It breaks through. You expect Sirius to look upset at your laughing but instead he’s smiling at you.
“I’m not trying to be mean, Sirius, but you do know who you’re talking to, right? A girl who’s never been flirted with? And you’re turning down asking Potter, king of pining, for advice? Like I’m one hundred percent sure that Lily knows he likes her.”
You glance toward James and then Lily. You missed the flash of disappointment that crosses Sirius’ face when you say you’ve never been flirted with. He knows for a fact it isn’t true, but it wouldn’t help his cause now to tell you otherwise.
“I’m talking to my best friend who I think is more perceptive than she realizes,” he states. “Humor me: how would you like to be flirted with?”
How would you like to be flirted with? The question repeats in your mind as you think. Sirius can practically see the gears turning in your head. He waits patiently for your answer. It has the potential to change everything for him.
“I… I want genuine compliments. I want to be told that I’m pretty but also that I’m enough and to hear what they like about me, you know, beyond looks. I want them to choose to spend time with me. I want them to do all that chivalrous, gentleman-y things like carrying my books and holding doors,” you list off. As you continue your ramble, your face grows hot. “I sound like a spoiled child,” you laugh. “I want, I want, I want.”
Sirius smiles at you with an adoring look in his eyes.
“Maybe so, but I did ask you what you wanted.” He tucks a bit of hair behind your ear. “So no big, grand gestures for you? I’ll make sure to tell all your suitors.”
You roll your eyes as you’re fairly certain there are no potential suitors for him to tell.
“I don’t know how you’ve been flirting with this mystery girl if it hasn’t been your usual tactics, but the little things really do add up.”
“Would you believe me if I told you that I went from one extreme to the other?”
“Why, yes, yes I would,” you smirk.
“Oi! Looks like rain, we’re going in!” Lily yells in your direction.
Sirius stands up first and holds out his hand to help you up.
Throughout the rest of the week, it’s like a switch flipped in Sirius. He’s more attached to you than normal. He’s always there to hold open a door for you, to offer to carry your books or put your supplies away. He starts using pet names with you more. You find it all a bit peculiar. He was spending so much energy on you rather than trying to win over his mystery girl. You try not to think too hard on it.
When the weekend came, your whole friend group made their way to the quidditch pitch. It was nice when Gryffindor wasn’t playing so James and Marlene could jeer at the players, complain about calls and plays and explain moves to everyone. They bring a higher energy to the stands. But you couldn’t focus on their comments too much. Sirius is pressed into your side with how packed the Gryffindor section is. To make it more comfortable, he draped his arm loosely over your shoulder. His cologne overtakes the rest of the smells that accompany the stands. You’re not complaining about that, but it did make it hard to think about anything else. Again, you try not think too hard about Sirius’ mystery girl, or the fact that your body is much closer to Sirius’ than Lily’s, who was on your other side.
After Ravenclaw beats Hufflepuff, you claim a table for yourself in the common room. You have an essay for Transfiguration to finish. Lily and Marlene had fretted earlier about your insistence on getting it done today when you had all of tomorrow to work on it and there was a party tonight. They certainly didn’t like you pointing out that it was Ravenclaw’s party so your presence wouldn’t be missed and you had more homework to do tomorrow. Merlin forbid school didn’t come easy to you.
When they accepted that you were a lost cause for the night, they grabbed Mary and left. You are able to work in peace for a little over half an hour. Then the Marauders traipsed down the stairs. Their sheer presence sends energy pulsing through the room. You briefly look up as they pass your table. Sirius spins around after passing you and walks up to you, slamming his hands on the table.
“Why aren’t you at the party?” he demands. “Pretty girls belong at parties.”
You feel your cheeks warm. You drag the feather end of your quill over the pages of the open book and essay in front of you.
“These essays. They never seem to write themselves.”
“So you’re just not going to the party?”
“Padfoot! Come on,” James calls.
“Love?” Sirius asks, ignoring his friends.
You sigh and look up at him. He’s looking at you so ardently.
“Not until I finish this essay. So I’ll either be extremely late or I won’t go,” you answer him.
He pulls out the chair across from you.
“Head over without me! We’ll catch up later,” he yells over his shoulder as he sits down.
Then he grabs your essay, scanning it to see how far along you are.
“Sirius, go to the party,” you tell him, reaching for your essay but he holds it out of your reach. “Your mystery girl is probably there. You could be making your move. My essay will get done.”
“Mystery girl will be there whenever I get there. However, your essay is more important than any party, and I don’t want to go if you’re not there.” He flashes you his wide grin. “How can you expect me to have fun when I know you’re back here, suffering?”
You sigh and lean back in your chair. With you no longer reaching for your essay, Sirius is able to finish reading it over. He hands it back to you and grabs your book. He flips a few pages before placing it back in front of you and pointing to a second you hadn’t looked at yet.
“You’re closer to finishing that essay than you think, love. You really just need a summary of that section and a conclusion. Then it’s upstairs to change and party time!”
“Thanks, Sirius.”
You lean over the desk to read the section he pointed out. After a few minutes, you glance up at him. He’s been watching you read and make notes.
“You don’t have to wait for me. I’ll find you at the party when I’m done,” you say, although you have half a mind to crawl into bed when you’re done. Especially if Sirius’ mystery girl is at this party, you’re not sure if you have it in you to watch him flirt with her, a girl he seems to be in love with.
“Please, don’t act like I don’t know you. If I leave now without you, you won’t go. You’ll finish the essay and then you’ll hide here. Nope. You’re going to have fun tonight if I have anything to do with it.”
“Fine…” you mumble, turning back to the book to reread the last paragraph.
Another half an hour or so passes until you’re semi-satisfied with your essay. You set your quill down as you reread the entire thing, a frown appearing on your face. It’s not nearly as good as you want it to be. You should probably rewrite it.
“Ah, give it here,” Sirius says, holding his hand out expectantly.
“It’s no good,” you reply, shaking your head. “I need to rewrite it.”
“Let me read it. I’m sure it’s fine.” He tilts his head while giving you a firm look. “Go change. I’ll read it while you’re gone. If it’s as bad as you think it is, we’ll work on it more. If you’re being hard on yourself, we’ll get you a drink to help you unwind.”
You sigh dramatically. You leave the essay on the desk for Sirius to grab, instead of handing to him. You trudge up the stairs to your dorm to change into something more party-like. Your indecisiveness means that you try on several outfits before finding something that you don’t hate. You don’t want to look like too much, too good. If you’re going to try to help Sirius get this mystery girl, you couldn’t be outshining her.
When you return to the common room, Sirius has cleaned up all of your things into neat piles.
“Oh, you look lovely!” he declares when he notices that you’re back. “And your essay, easily an E. Trust me. We ensure that Pete gets at least an A on every essay and that was better than what he’s turning in.”
You roll your eyes at the ‘we’. You knew the Marauders often treated homework as group assignments. He holds out his arm for you to take, which you do with some hesitation.
“Shall we go find your girl at this party?” you ask.
“We shall,” he says with a smile as he leads you out of the Gryffindor Common Room and toward Ravenclaw Tower.
Once past the eagle knocker, Sirius is quick to get a drink in both his and your hands. You scan the room, seeing the rest of the Marauders and your other friends. You aren’t looking for them though. You’re trying to see if you can spot the girl who is so beautiful and desirable that Sirius would switch up his methods to diminish the risk of losing her.
“Let’s find your girl,” you say, leaning into Sirius’ shoulder.
He doesn’t say anything, but he guides you around the room. You pause to say hi to some of your friends in Ravenclaw. You expect Sirius to keep walking in search of the girl. He doesn’t. He remains at your shoulder, giving friendly smiles to the people you’re talking to. You lead him toward where the other Gryffindors are gathered.
“Black!” Marlene yells as she grabs him by his shoulders. “Thank you for getting her out!”
You’re taken aback by her comment, although it wasn’t uncommon for you to miss a party. You often found yourself reminding your friends that Hogwarts was in fact a school and not a party central.
“Oh, it’s my pleasure,” he tells Marlene, grinning.
He puts an arm around your waist and pulls you closer to him. You feel your face burn so you try to hide it with your cup. Maybe you can pass it off as the room being too hot or being flushed from the alcohol. Only Sirius knows it’s your first drink, right?
You try to focus on what your friends are saying and laughing about, but the feeling of Sirius’ arm, his hand and his body are too much. Your body feels like it’s being constantly electrocuted. You take slow sips from your cup, as if the drink will somehow alleviate the feeling. You can only imagine how this looks to his mystery girl. You pressed into Sirius’ side with his arm around you as he talks and laughs? You’re trying not to melt into his touch. You try to keep the idea of this other girl in your mind. But you like having his arm around you a bit too much.
“Shit, this is a good song!” Sirius roars before lowering his voice to whisper in your ear, “Dance with me, lovely?”
You look up with him with concerned eyes. “How will that look to that girl you really like?”
You hate that you have to keep reminding him that he was supposed to be looking for this girl and flirting with her, rather than spending all of his time with you. He just gives you his trademark smile.
“It will show off my amazing dancing skills. Come on, you didn’t say no!”
He pulls you away from your friends into the crowds of people dancing. Sirius is far more at his leisure than you are. You would much rather be on a bench off to the side, sipping on a new drink as the music fills your senses. At least, you think that until Sirius has his hands on your hips, helping you move to the music.
“Ah, there it is! She does have rhythm!” he cheers with his face close to yours. It’s close enough to feel the heat of his breath and to smell the spiked punch.
Everything about the moment makes your heart pound in your chest. For a second, the idea of his mystery girl flits into your mind, but she is banished as Sirius spins you around. Your laughter mixes with his and the sounds of people around you, laughing themselves and singing along to the music. You never fancied yourself a dancer before now, but with Sirius so close and all of his attention on you, it feels right. You wouldn’t mind if you could live in this moment forever.
When the music switches to something slower, you prepare yourself to see Sirius move back toward your friends. You don’t expect him to place his hands on your waist and pull you even closer.
You don’t expect him to lean in and whisper, “Put your hands around my neck, sweetheart. That’s how you slow dance.”
You do as told. It makes it easier to hide your bright red face in his shoulder. You know how to slow dance; you just never did it with anyone before. You certainly hadn’t expected your first slow dance to be with Sirius. It made sense to a point though that it would be with your best guy friend, someone you were comfortable with.
The song ends too soon for you. The next song is back to the upbeat rhythm that previously filled the room. Your heart beat is too loud in your ears to process it.
“I need another drink,” you tell Sirius before walking away from him.
You did need a drink, but you also need a moment away from him. ‘He’s in love with someone else’ is on repeat in your head. You can’t have yourself falling deeper in love with him when you know his heart belongs to someone else, someone he wouldn’t even tell you the name of.
When you have a fresh glass in your hand, you turn to look for Sirius in the crowd where you left him. He’s not there. You spot him back with the Marauders. It makes you frown. He was supposed to be finding this girl and asking her to dance, not spending the whole night with you and the boys. You want to remind him of that, but something prevents you from doing it. You walk over to the girls, hoping that maybe they’re talking about something interesting.
“Isn’t this so much better than essays?” Lily asks, leaning almost all of her body weight on your shoulder as soon as you join them.
“I mean, I guess so,” you answer.
“Oh, please,” Mary laughs. “It looked like you were enjoying yourself with Sirius out there.”
Your blush immediately returns.
“So is it a thing? You ‘n’ him?” she asks.
Marlene turns her full attention to you at the question and Lily throws her arms around you in a hug.
“It really should be!” Lily gushes, her voice far too loud in your ear. “You’d be so cute together! It’s obvious he adores you!”
You smile as you shrug Lily off.
“Sorry to disappoint, but he’s infatuated with someone else,” you say, mockingly saying infatuated to make yourself feel better. You try to hold in a sigh.
“Who?” Marlene demands. “We’ll take care of her!”
“Dunno. He won’t tell me.”
Marlene and Lily don matching frowns and furrowed brows.
“Darling! There you are!” Sirius’ voice booms.
The three girls glare at him.
“What’d I do?” he asks, his arm finding its place around your shoulders.
“I’ll tell you what you did, Black,” Marlene starts.
“Nothing! You did nothing,” you say quickly, cutting Marlene off before she can say too much.
While you’ve never said anything directly about liking Sirius to them, you’re sure it’s obvious to them now and you’ll hear more about it tomorrow.
“Well, I’m not interrupting anything, am I?” he asks cautiously, eyeing the girls who are still glaring daggers at him.
“No, you’re not,” you say firmly, also eyeing the girls.
You really hope they don’t say anything right now that would embarrass you and possibly hurt the friendship you have so carefully preserved.
“Then I’m sure they won’t mind if I steal you away again!” he says cheerfully and steers you away from them.
He takes you to a quieter area down a few flights of stairs and stopping on a landing. Based on the doors you’ve passed, you figure you’re by the dorms. You’re glad that he took you down rather than up because the air is significantly cooler.
“Did you find your mystery girl?” you ask as he leans against the wall, sipping his own drink that he must’ve refilled at some point.
He nods.
You cock your head to the side. “Then why haven’t you stolen her away to this little spot?”
He chuckles. “What makes you think I haven’t?”
“You’ve already ditched her?” you ask accusingly.
“No!” He stands up straighter and moves closer to you. “No, I’m with her right now.”
“But it’s just us here?”
He takes another step toward you and tucks some of your hair behind your ear.
“Oh, darling, I mean this in the nicest way possible, but you are so clearly not a Ravenclaw.”
“What the fuck does that mean?” you spit. “Are you calling me stupid?”
He throws his head back, laughing.
“Yes! Yes, I am.”
You scoff and take a step back from Sirius.
“Well then.” You turn to go up the stairs because why did Sirius steal you away to insult you?
“No, listen!” He reaches out to stop you from heading back to the party. “You’re not stupid. Blind? Maybe. A bit dense right now? Yeah.”
“You’re not helping yourself,” you say dryly.
“It’s you. You’re the… mystery girl, as you’ve been calling her. It’s been you the whole time.”
You freeze for a moment.
“What?” you breathe. That can’t be right.
“When I asked you about how girls flirt? I was asking how to know if you were ever flirting with me. But then you never did any of those things. Maybe one or two once or twice. So I asked how I could flirt with you. I know you enough to know that you wouldn’t want me to use those cheesy or dirty lines on you. You wouldn’t want an overtly public declaration of love to ask you to Hogsmeade. But even with your advice, you don’t seem to respond to me.”
He stops talking for what feels like an eternity. He’s scanning your face for a reaction, for any kind of sign from you, but all he gets is utter shock and confusion.
“What?” you repeat in the same quiet voice of disbelief.
He takes a step toward you so that his body is almost touching yours.
“The girl I really like and don’t want to mess things up with? She’s you. She’s been you for a while now. And I’m asking you how you feel about me because you can be so hard to read sometimes.”
His voice is so soft and honest. You blink slowly as you gaze into those grey eyes you love so much.
“She’s me?” you echo his sentiment.
“Yes. Please, love, I need to know. Do you like me or have I just made a rather large fool of myself?”
“That’s why you didn’t want to come unless I did,” you whisper more to yourself than to Sirius, ignoring his question and the way his eyes filled with uncertainty as you did so. “That’s why you’ve been complimenting me more and offering to carry my bag. Oh…”
“Love?” he asks with a wavering voice.
You’ve never heard him so nervous before. His hand slowly reaches up to cup your face.
“Please…” he whispers.
“This is all… real?” you ask, placing your hand on top of his.
“Yes. It’s so real.”
You smile. It’s wide and filled with the most joy you’ve ever felt. But then it disappears as you glare at Sirius.
“Don’t you ever call me stupid again,” you say firmly.
“I won’t.” There’s a beat of silence. “Wait, so do you-”
You cut him off by pressing your lips to his. It was a moment of Gryffindor braveness that you usually didn’t showcase. It took Sirius by surprise. He takes a moment to process that you, the girl he’s been pining over for a while, is kissing him and that he should kiss you back. But he does and it’s everything you’ve dreamed it would be. All of those times you’ve thought about his mystery girl, you never really considered that she could be you. As much as you dreamed it, you never really believed you could be the girl he described as the sweetest, the most beautiful, the kindest and most wonderful, perfection. But you were and you felt it as Sirius wraps his arms around you to hold you close, even after you broke away from the kiss.
“Oh, the girls were glaring at you earlier because I told them you liked someone else after they asked if we were dating.”
“Hmm, too bad that someone else is you,” he mumbles against your shoulder, still not letting you go. “We can correct your misinformation later. You’re mine now.”
