Read some actual comics, Kyle.
Superman is an incredibly kind and tender character. (If he’s not being written that way, then he’s not being written well.) He inspires hope not just through his heroics, but also through his kindness toward other people. That’s his thing. Don’t you DARE call tenderness a “weakness.” Get your toxic masculinity the hell away from me and go read a badly written Batman comic if you want a “tough” male character.

This is exactly fucking it. Superman’s most important power is not flight, or super strength, or X-Ray vision. It’s his kindness. He is so strong because he’s kind! “What’s So Funny About Truth, Justice, and the American Way” and its movie adaptation Superman vs. The Elite is all about this! It would be so easy for someone like Clark to just stop caring about innocents, to kill, to impose his will. There’s not much that could stop him if he wanted to. But he never would, because that would be the easy way out.
The best Superman moments aren’t him punching a giant gorilla or fighting Brainiac. The best Superman moments are all him being deeply compassionate and taking the time for regular ass people. Him saving the woman about to jump off a building in All-Star Superman, talking her out of it and just being there for her. Or this moment with Billy.
People who want the likes of how Zack Snyder writes Superman don’t want Superman. Zack Snyder is on the record saying he doesn’t find anything but the violent murderous super”heroes” interesting. He’s flat out said this.
I had a buddy who tried getting me into “normal” comic books, but I was all like, “No one is having sex or killing each other. This isn’t really doing it for me.” I was a little broken, that way. So when Watchmen came along, I was, “This is more my scene.”
That is not someone who should he responsible for Superman.Thank God James Gunn seems to understand the character better than the Objectivist hack (Snyder is an Objectivist, he adores Ayn Rand).
