Meet Adrien. He is the creator of Hustletea! He is in a way stepping up a notch with catering to people across the bay area for a long while, and I was able to have a cool interview which you will see below!!!

Q: How did HustleTea come to be

A: It all started when I was tired of working a minimum wage job. I wanted to [do] something that was innovative and fun! I tried all different ways to make money, and constantly [was] brainstorming for the next idea. I remembered when I was 8 or 10 years old my auntie used to make me thai iced tea and it was the best one I’ve ever had. I would always drink the whole gallon by myself. I’m 19 years old now and I thought why not try to sell this and see how people like it? I started selling at Dolores Park SF and did really well. Everyone enjoyed my Thai tea and how I made it in front of them! I wanted to do something I’m passionate about and unique to me.

Q: What do you love most about selling your teas?

A: What I love most about selling my teas is all the people I get to meet that I normally wouldn’t have a reason to talk to. The connections and relationships I build not only make what I do fun, but give me a meaning to continue what I’m doing.

Q: What drinks do you have to offer?

A: I offer my family recipe Thai Iced Tea, Vietnamese Iced Coffee, and the fusion of both of them!

When I had my first sip of this drink I was just super bubbly. LOL The tea was fresh and cool, The hint of mint was crisp. I mean, I can only say good things and only want to say good things because this drink is just amazing! It's a family recipe so it's guarantee that this quality is at it's best! If I had more money, I would have been his only customer LOL! But in all seriousness, this drink could not have been more refreshing!

Q: What made you come up with this whole concept?

A: This whole concept was built by trial and error. I have no business experience but I fell by going out there and doing it is the best way to learn.

Q: What is one thing you are trying to achieve with HustleTea?

A: One thing I’m trying to achieve with HustleTea is to [someday] open up a shop that serves the best boba drinks and continue to do something I enjoy!

Q: As an Asian-American, why do you think milk tea and such are really important to us? A: I believe boba drinks are important to us because they not only taste really good, but the tapioca pearls are what set these drinks apart. It gives these drinks a fun experience like no other!

Wifi: Yes! Their network name as well as their password is listed on the panel on the side of where you pick up your drink!

Noise Level: I wasn’t able to measure what the noise level was, but in general, the noise level was pretty loud when I went there. It is a social gathering place after all, and usually at night after classes is when students go there to grab a drink, play some games, and talk until closing. The boba shop also embraces the pop culture at local university, UC Riverside has, a rave-like environment attracting students by creating an overall upbeat vibe.

Parking: Boba Fiend is located in a small plaza where most shops around it are usually closed at night. So parking after dinner is typically easy to find.

The first thing you notice when you walk into Boba Fiend is the smell of their Honey Boba! Because this place is meant to be a social gathering place for college students of both Riverside Community College as well as University of California, Riverside, there are board games available to use!

Their drink selection isn’t that different from typical boba place. But from a perspective of a college student, I can say that the pricing is pretty average; not too expensive nor is it too cheap for its quality. If you’re looking for a chewy texture boba, this is not a place ofor you. The drinks are served in a grab-and-go manner where boba isn’t as chewy as I’d like.

Boba Fiend also has $1 Boba Mondays! So for those who are broke college students like me, you can check out Boba Fiend on Mondays!

Although on the menu it says they have Hokkaido Milk Tea and Taro Pudding, at the Riverside branch, they don’t carry those anymore. When ordering, you can pick between three sizes: Like, Love, and Fiend.

The Fiend size is the largest, with a 1L capacity! At Boba Fiend, they have a Fiend challenge for those who feel as if they are worthy of conquering the challenge! The challenge consists of the participant having to finished two Fiend sizes of milk tea as well as half a Love cup of Honey Boba as fast as possible. CRAZY!

I would have to say that their milk tea isn’t made right then and there - it’s all pre mixed. I would have expected at least their Taro Milk Tea to be made with real taro, but in reality, they use syrup to artificially flavor their drink. But then again, I wouldn’t expect much as this place is meant to produce drinks in a fast manner where as soon as you order, you would get your drink in less than 3 minutes.

Conclusion: This is a go-to place for students who want to grab a quick boba drink after class and hangout with friends. Out of the two most reputable boba places to grab a drink, Boba Fiend is the better place to go. It’s a great social place, has an upbeat environment, run by college students with affordable prices for the quantity and quality. But if you’re looking for loose-leaf high-quality tea with an ambient environment like Starbucks, this isn’t the place for you.
