thought about your forgotten island residents post from yesterday and thought about a funny fun fun addition to what i said on it with how they saw the country wish breaking when sif and king tried to say the name of the island: the near end of act 5.

this is mostly just my hc, but i like to think that with bigfrin and the whole universe and world slowly tearing in on itself, the forces that hold wishes together just momentarily stopped, especially whatever wish kept the island in particular forgotten from the world.

do you think that its residents on one faithful day, saw the skies tear apart? do you think they saw siffrin's figure in the distant, and almost immediately, terrifyingly, knew who that was? that for how long it has been since they, and anyone who has went missing, he was still as recognizable as ever from the day he set out and never returned? do you think siffrin's parents saw them during that moment? did they all knew that this power, this grief, this unimaginable sadness all comes from a single point, in which they knew that this is what happens to those who cannot return home? that the homesickness in his heart managed to explode so loud and bright that it could be felt from where they stood? even if they didn't know the details, even if they didn't know the reason, it was almost tangible and sensible enough to be true?

when it all ended, did they stare out into the bleak sea for a long time, the wish returning to hide them once more? could they even know what to do with what they saw? so many went out to search for people like siffrin, and none came back. why would it be different now?

I've had this sitting in my inbox for days bc every time I look at it I wanna explode. AUGHHHHHHHHH... Them getting to see him, to know he's out there, to know on some level that their home is loved and missed and that everybody who ever vanished from it wants so deeply to be able to come home again, to see their families again, their country... But something is holding them back. They're out there and they're alive and they want to be there so badly but they can't.

But even if they can't come back, the people of the island are still loved by all those who left. The rituals and the lightless sands, the people, the culture... They can't leave the island, if they don't want to risk this happening to them. They can't lose anyone else, especially not now they know the magnitude of the grief of those who leave. Their loved ones may be alive, but they can't see them again. But... But at the very least, they're out there. And no matter what stands in their way, on some level, they are still loved.

YEAH. yeah. exactly 🥲. agnes would definitely be more sensitive about it than tracy. always careful not to tell detailed stories, avoiding mentioning specific stuff she knows will push ness' or porky's buttons. she's probably the one who'd have to do damage control most of the time.... cuz tracy is kind of careless, haha. she'd blabber a little too much, then notice ness looking sullen or porky clenching his jaw, and go "awww what's wrong 😏?" and especially when there's a kid in the mix, ness & porky's little goober niece would have Zero awareness of the boundaries & bad blood. she'd just blurt whatever comes to mind, lol.

but ahhh right like, ness doesn't feel like it's his place to police how they talk about porky. porky's not just his ex-friend anymore, he's a part of their family, it's not about him!! and porky would never concede weakness by admitting he feels guilty & jealous & wistful when they talk about ness. so he pretends not to care, dryly laughs it off. and they'll just have to do this uneasy little dance, until they finally get over themselves and decide to sort it out. (probably when they're middle aged and exhausted. great job porky, you shoved your best friend off the slide too many times when yall were 7 and now you've gotta deal with the fallout at his dad's retirement party when you're 45)

tracy & agnes' future marriage is funny, cuz it makes ness & porky in-laws / technically family. the dynamic there is probably really hilariously awkward (and kind of sad 🙁) (but mostly it makes me laugh 🙂). like, adult tracy gets along with adult porky just fine. they were mean to each other when they were kids, but they don't have all those crazy layers of traumatic baggage, the way ness & porky or agnes & porky do. neither cared enough to hold a grudge into adulthood, so there's no personal bitterness between them. and i think their senses of humor align pretty well (teasy, unserious, joking around abrasively at other peoples' expense). so as adults tracy and porky can casually jeer and jab at each other without actually hurting each others' feelings. they both think the other is genuinely funny, they laugh a lot whenever they're together, they get along way better than anyone would've expected.

but ness was so hurt by porky that he never wants to speak to him again, haha. he thinks making up would hurt too much, that porky broke his trust and undermined his forgiveness too many times, he just wants to leave childish drama behind him and live his own fuckin liiiiife. and porky understands this, as much as he may begrudge it. he has to grit his teeth and try so hard for agnes & tracy's sake to not get jealous when they talk about good times they've had with ness. (and then go yell at himself in the car about it on the way home while emoing out to music he & ness used to listen to together when they were 8, lolllll)

it's especially funny when tracy & agnes have a kid, cuz then like. oh no. porky is actually good with the kid. the kid loves him. they visit kansas and bring home funny stories about "uncle pat," and ness has to simmer like a little tea pot and go "haha thats great!!" like he's so glad and relieved porky is not as unbearable as he used to be, and that agnes has a good relationship with her brother, and that his niece has a good relationship with her uncle, he knows they all deserve that. but there's still this big awkward fuckoff line in the sand neither ness or porky will cross, so they just have to mind it sooo nicely and respectfully, while their siblings have so much fun with their happy little family haha yippee yayyy 🌞🌈

Who could've predicted things would go wrong?

Literally everyone in Venus' life and the people in the tags from the last post predicting it:

@fujii-draws Yes you get it!! He was frustrated at himself mostly, but he's also frustrated that Venus was still just as willing to trust someone like him as she was before. He could see the past was repeating itself and while it wouldn't be him again, he knew how easily another cruel and selfish Pokémon would take advantage of her neverending trust. And if what he did wasn't enough to make her lose faith, he loathed to think of how far she would go for someone who didn't deserve it.

@sinnohvile Aaaaahhhh I love your whole analysis!! Everything you said was so true. She wants so badly to believe in the good of everyone that she's unwilling to accept that The Great Dusknoir who saved their lives at Amp Plains and gave them guidance and was so kind to them is the same Pokemon that caused so much pain and heartache to her and everyone she knows. To her, that wasn't really who he is (but it was. He did all those things. He had sympathetic reasons, sure, but that doesn't mean his actions didn't hurt anyone)
