AFI’s “Sing the Sorrow” Turns 16
On March 11, 2003, when I was on the verge of turning 16, @AFI released their major-label debut, Sing the Sorrow. Now that I am on the verge of turning 32, I have spent half my life with this album, and AFI is a band that served as a springboard to so many other bands. Needless to say, it’s an important album from an important band.  In addition to the B-sides for Sing the Sorrow, some of which weren’t released until 2009 as bonuses to Crash Love, most fans also tend to view the songs off the 336 EP, released in 2002, as forming the complete Sing the Sorrow. Additionally, some of the 336 songs appeared on the Japanese-edition of Sing the Sorrow. As a result, Sing the Sorrow, as we could call it, can be said to encompass around 20 songs. It is an epic album that won’t ever get old.  Below is “Reiver’s Music,” one of my favorite songs off Sing the Sorrow:
This summer, AFI will tour with Smashing Pumpkins and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, including a stop on Friday, August, 30th, 2019, at the Banc of California Stadium, the new stadium at Exposition Park. Tickets for the LA show are not on sale yet, but the San Diego show has pit tickets for around $200 each.
Hope to see you there. In Darkness Together.

My reaction (dead) to @jadepuget liking my hubcap rendition of ‘The Leaving Song Pt.2’ ☠️☠️ I remember moving to nashville almost a decade ago and going to see @afireinside with @tylercole29 at @mmusicworks….I went crowd surfing most of the night, but eventually lost my eye glasses 🤓 like the ones I need to see and drive lol we waited until the very end of the show until the place cleared out ….and there they were! Right at the front barriers where the amazing security safely scooped up each crowd surfer 🏄🏼‍♂️ to safety….it’s a memory I hold very dear. Long live punk rock! 🖤🖤🖤🖤🤘🤘☠️ P.S. thank u for dressing me @punknites 🫶 … #afi #jadepuget #daveyhavok #singthesorrow #hubcapguitar … #afi (at The Frst) https://www.instagram.com/p/CmFi9X_OxUD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

20th Anniversary re-issue of the hugely influential & beloved 2003 AFI album "Sing The Sorrow" is finally here!
The band's 6th studio album & major label debut was initially only pressed in small quantities (reportedly around 10,000) and it's subsequent popularity & influence has far outgrown supply with OG pressings fetching $500+
A number of unofficial bootlegs exist, but this new 20th Anniversary pressing marks the first official re-issue since it's 2003 release.
2xLP cut at 45RPM on limited Black Translucent & Red Pinwheel w/ Red Splatter colour vinyl. Housed in a thick gatefold sleeve with printed inners. Out now for $95.

"The echoes of the past broke the hearts of the unborn.... You said, "The cinders are falling like snow." There is poetry in despair, and we sang with unrivaled beauty... ...The sun was stagnated somewhere beyond the rim of the horizon and the darkness is a mystery of curves and lines. Still, we lay under the emptiness and drifted slowly outward, and somewhere in the wilderness we found salvation scratched into the earth like a message."- Untitled, AFI #SingTheSorrow https://www.instagram.com/p/BuKdgGtFjtB/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=knumd5jq6eox

BAND: AFI
COUNTRY: USA
EN: the first time i listened to this band was while playing one of my all times favourite video game: TONY HAWK’S PRO SKATER 3 on my Playstation. I spent countless hours playing it so I learnt all of the songs that were on the soundtrack. one of those was “the boy who destroyed the world” that sound like a clichè but for an angry /punk rocker /teeneager/skater was just the perfect title for a song to fall in love with. It was on the presentation of RODNEY MULLEN that, in collaboration with Vans made my all time favourite skate shoes, DAMN HOW I LOVED THEM. Moreover, the song kicks ass for real and I remember that I’ve read that band name on some zine before so I started to search stuff about them. It was a bit strange at the time for me, seeing that dark/gothic style and long haired singer into the punk scene as the were not looking “as they were supposed to” in my opinion. Also their songs were strange for my standards: always obscure ad kinda reminding me a punk version of Marylin Manson or a Modern version of the Misfits (probably just because I was musically ignorant and I was judging them by their look). It was 2003/2004 I think and their new record was just out recently and I started to read reviews of it everywhere so I decided to buy it and i really liked it! End of seasons has always been my favourite song by them ! Scream , Melody, Fast music...but some digital effect that I never understood ahah. That album was, obviously “sing the sorrow” (what a shitty title) that for many (including me) is considered their masterpiece as well as the watershed of their career and after this I stopped following them just because I don’t like their new stuff..but years after I discovered their older works and there are some songs on it that i really like. I personally love Art of drowning and I don’t know why I’ve never bought it, but is something that i have to do for sure..just another album to add to my endless wishlist. Last but not least, many thumbs up for their frontman Davey Havoc that since years and years is Strongly involved on social and cruelty free campaigns.
