Ricciardo is speaking to me from Baku (where he sensationally won from P17 in 2017), a week before what will be remembered as one of the most arcane and unceremonious dismissals in the history of the sport. And while it couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke, the repercussions of the decision - specifically, the way it was executed - affects the team, the sponsors, the fans, and F1 in its entirety. Somehow, Ricciardo gritted his teeth and smiled throughout the train wreck, departing with dignity, and in doing so left a legacy that will go unrivalled by drivers more accomplished in the sport - both past and present. You only have to go through the tribute posts from current and former F1 drivers, teams, commentators, celebrities, specialist media, and fans to see what sort of an impact he had, and what size pothole his lack of presence will leave on the grid. Ricciardo's eight grand prix wins ranks him equal 37th on the list of the most successful F1 drivers of all time, and redemption at Monaco in 2018 - after Red Bull fumbled his certain win in 2016 - will likely rank as his (and his fans') most satisfying victory. To put his career in perspective, only 15 per cent of all drivers who've competed in F1 have won a race. Of those, only five per cent have won eight or more races. It's fair to say, the Honey Badger is one of the best to ever do it, and he deserved a send off that reflected his success. For brands like Tudor, who organised my interview, they've lost a valuable asset. They may have even lost the very reason they committed to sponsoring the team in the first place - an affable, approachable, and highly respected marketing machine. An ambassador that everyone, including myself, is dying to meet. It's the reason every brand in Australia wants a piece of Ricciardo; he's impossible to dislike. After an enthusiastic discussion about Tudor's involvement with Visa Cash App RB, we move onto the Black Bay Ceramic "Blue" on his wrist. "They even did this custom flame strap for me," he beams as he lifts it up to the camera. It's greyish white and embossed with flames, like his headphones - and if it's a piece unique from Tudor, which one would assume it is, then it's going to be highly collectible. I ask questions about his McLaren exit and return to F1, the competitor in him, how he deals with pressure and maintaining mental clarity as a driver, but in hindsight, none of it matters anymore. Not until we arrive at life after Formula One.
The most obvious and undeniable proof we've had yet of just how last-minute and haphazard the decision was to replace Daniel after the Singapore GP. The team's big sponsors had no idea, Daniel had no idea, clearly even VCarb's team principals had no idea .... an absolute shitshow that resulted in Daniel being subjected to some of the most cruel and unfair treatment by the media and resulted in an exit completely unbefitting of his contributions and achievements over his career in Formula One.

Some Carlos facts and stats after the Mexican GP 2024:
Since Australia '24, Carlos did not finish anywhere above 3rd till USA '24, where he finished second, followed by Mexico '24, where he won. There is a 14 race gap between Australia and USA.
Nobody had won from pole in Mexico since 2016 till 2022. In 2016, it was Lewis who got pole and then won the race. In 2022, it was Max who was on pole and won the race from the same. Carlos, by winning this year, has made himself the third driver to achieve this since 2016.
Carlos made this Ferrari third win ever in Mexico. The first one was scored by Jacky Ickx in 1970 and the second one was scored by Alain Prost in 1990.
This race was the only third race to be won from pole in the previous 12 Grands Prix (Lando did it by winning in Netherlands and then in Singapore).
This was Carlos first ever podium in Mexico. He had never been on podium on this track before this.
Carlos is also the first ever native Spanish-speaker to have won in Mexico City, the largest Spanish-speaking city in the world.
This is also the first time Carlos has won more than 1 race in the same season, the first one being Australia '24.
With this race win, Ferrari moves up to 2nd place after McLaren in the Constructor's championship points table, pushing Red Bull to drop to 3rd.
This is also the first time George Russell did not crash or end up DNFing when Carlos won the race. Russell finished an exceptional 5th.
This is the second time we have had the privilege to witness a Carlando 1-2 finish, the first one being Singapore '23, where, coincidentally, Carlos won too, with Lando coming in second.
This is the third time Carlos has converted his pole position to a successful race win. First one was Silverstone '22 and the second one was Singapore '23.

Charles Leclerc (Scuderia Ferrari) - It's Always Been You
Requested: yes
Prompt: 4) "You deserve better."
Warnings: nope, but long iwl
Tumblr media
As the paddock seemed normal in it's all too familiar business and loudness, Y/n found solace in between hospitality lounges, with the stacks of Red Bull Racing tyres as her only form of company. The scent of rubber and gasoline enveloped her as she sought refuge from the shattered pieces of her heart. Tears streaked down her cheeks, leaving a trail of black from her eyeliner. As the sister of Max Verstappen, Y/n was no stranger to the high-speed world of Formula 1. Her heart, however, had taken an unexpected detour when she fell for Carlos Sainz, the charming driver who had once occupied a special place in her life. She remembers when she first met him, back when her twin and him were teammates. There was always casual flirting but then when Y/n finished up school in 2016, the pair began going on dates since her visits to the paddock became more and more common, then becoming basically constant once they made it official. They were the it couple and it felt like no other couple could compare. How they looked at eachother, how they spoke of one another, it seemed too good good be true...until the faithful night after the Singapore Grand Prix win when Carlos decided to call it quits.
The music pulsed through the air as Carlos downed one shot after another, his laughter filling the space. Y/n, his girlfriend, tried to catch his attention, but he seemed oblivious, lost in the sea of people. "Carlos? I  wanna go dance." Y/n said. "Yeah, sure. Go ahead." Carlos replied, turning back to his group of instagram models who fanned over him, all desperate for the same thing; dick and clout. She rolled her eyes and walked away. "Fine, do whatever." As she walked away, the girls began giggling at her little outburst and Carlos didn't once stick up for Y/n. He was never like this before. He wasn't even like this at their romantic dinner the night before. But Y/n got on with it and did what she wanted to do; dance.
As she lost herself in the music, a man managed to gather the courage and make his way towards her. "Hey gorgeous." The stranger smiled, dancing along with Y/n. Since Carlos was surrounded by these stupid instagram models, the least Y/n could do was talk to a guy surely. "Hey." Their conversation continued until the topic of relationships came up, to which Y/n said that she had a boyfriend.
"I don't see him." The stranger grinned, leaning closer. "Well, you see that guy up there with the huge bottle of champagne?" The guy nodded. "That's my boyfriend. Carlos. He just won the Grand Prix a few hours ago." The stranger looked between the spaniard and Y/n. "He looks occupied." He said, referring to the hoard of girls surrounding him. "Honestly, who gives a fuck. The only reason he won it was because Red Bull had a fuck up." The man laughed at Y/n's drunken joke, but she couldn't help but feel bad for undermining her boyfriend's hard work.
As she swayed with her newfound dance partner, Carlos watched from afar, a twinge of jealousy gnawing at him. His strides became purposeful, marching towards the dancing couple. His vision blurry, he poked the stranger. He turned. "Hey, you're Y/n's boyfriend. How you doing man?" He asked, putting his hand out. Carlos slapped it away. "Yeah, whatever. Who are you?" Y/n arched a brow at the sudden rudeness of Carlos. "I've been talking to Y/n since you've been occupied." He joked. "Are you accusing me of cheating on my girlfriend?"
"Carlos, what the fuck?" Y/n asked. "I didn't mean to-"
"No, no, I know what you want and you're not going to get it." Carlos began shoving the guy. "Because when I go back to my hotel room, I'm going to have her on her knees and screaming my name, while you sit by yourself with your left hand doing all the work-"
Carlos was silenced by a hard thump to the face, that ended with both his lip and nose bleeding. Carlos stumbled back, holding his nose. "Carlos!" Y/n rushed to his side, concern etched across her face. "Carlos, we need to leave. This is getting out of hand." He pushed her away, his drunken gaze defiant. "I don't need you. I can handle myself." Ignoring her, he swung at the guy, completely missing him and falling to the floor. "Carlos, we're going." Y/n repeated, this time more stern. Carlos scoffed and despite the chaos, Y/n managed to guide Carlos outside and hailed a cab. The ride home was tense, filled with silence interrupted only by the distant sounds of the city nightlife.
As Y/n scanned their key card, Carlos lay against the wall beside the door, looking at Y/n with pure hatred in his eyes. "You're such a bitch sometimes." He muttered. Y/n turned to him. "Excuse me?" The door beeped and Carlos practically burst it down. "You heard me. You're You're a bitch sometimes." Y/n closed the door behind her and followed Carlos to the bed where he kicked off his shoes. "How am I a bitch? People were filming you and I don't think you want to answer to your PR people tomorrow morning." Y/n rolled her eyes and sat down on the sofa, taking her heels off promptly. "Okay? You're still a bitch. I could have taken him."  Y/n's frustration bubbled over as she demanded an explanation. "Carlos, what's going on? Why are you acting like this?"
Carlos glared at her, venom in his words. "I'm tired of this, Y/n. I don't want you in my life anymore." Stunned, Y/n pleaded. "Carlos, what are you tired of? We don't argue ever. Please, let's talk about it in the morning. You're drunk, and we can figure things out then." But Carlos was resolute. "No, I want you gone now. Pack your things and leave." Her eyes flickered as a few tears had fallen.
"You're so shit at this mate!" Max cackled, taking another sip of his beer whilst Pierre missed yet another goal on FIFA. The hotel room was filled with laughter as a few drivers had finished their clubbinv prematurely to instead play a few games of FIFA. The camaraderie and banter echoed through the room, creating a light atmosphere that temporarily eased the pressures of the racing world. Amid the gaming frenzy, a sudden knock on the door disrupted the jovial mood. "I'll get it." Charles said, walking towards the door. He expected some food from room service since they paid for it, but instead he was surprised to find Y/n Verstappen standing there, tears streaming down her face. "Hi, Charles." She sniffled.
"Y/n. Are you okay? What happened?" Charles asked, genuine concern etched on his face. Y/n, struggling to compose herself, managed to choke out. "Is Max here?"
Charles nodded, realizing something serious must have transpired. He stepped aside, allowing Y/n to enter the room. "Max? It's Y/n." The laughter hushed as the other drivers sensed the shift in the atmosphere. Max stood up. "Y/n? What's wrong?" A few words had been spoken in Dutch and it seemed that each word Y/n said, made Max angrier. The other drivers simply watched on, wanting to see what happened. "Where is he?" Max demanded in a demanding tone. "Max, please don't. That's the last thing I need tonight." Y/n pleaded. "No, I'm getting dad and we are sorting this." Max replied. "Max, no! He'll kill him!"
"And I will bury him. Don't worry about it." The drivers shared glances amongst one another as the siblings had run out of the room, closing the door behind them. "Are we going to see what happens or what?" Charles asks. "Seems like family stuff. I am leaving them to it." Pierre replied. "Seems logical." Lando added. Charles groaned as he left the room, following the sounds of loud shouting in both Dutch and English.
He looked down to see two figures banging on Carlos' door. "You don't treat my sister like this!" Max shouted as Y/n pulled from his arm, trying to deter him. "Max! Stop!" Charles shouted, trying to mediate, urging everyone to calm down. "If someone did this to your sister, you'd you'd the same!" Max shouted back at Charles. "Max! Not here! There are people trying to sleep." Charles said, reasoning with the dutchman. The commotion drew the attention of hotel staff and even a few curious guests. "Get out here, you fucking pussy!" Max had begun kicking the door now, not caring if it broke and deciding he'd worry about it if the door did break. The chaos continued until Max's father, joined the fray. The yelling and banging intensified, creating a scene that could be heard throughout the hotel.
Eventually, the rage subsided, as everyone agreed that Carlos must have passed out drunk and that it was a conversation best having in the morning. Max and Jos walked away as Charles stood by Y/n, tear-stained and emotionally drained. "Do you have a place to stay?" Charles asked. "I'm sure your brother wouldn't mind letting you stay." Y/n shook her head. "No. They're playing FIFA I don't want to have to kick them all out." Y/n replied. "Then I'll let you have my bed and Ill sleep on the floor." Charles offered. She smiled. "As nice as you're being right now, I don't need your pity. Im just going to fall asleep in my room and deal with this in the morning." She said. "Y/n, you can't possibly do that. I wouldn't wouldn't sleep in the same bed as him. You deserve better." Before Charles could even trg to convince her, she opened the door, re-entered her and Carlos' hotel room and closed it again without another word.
She had moved on from Carlos. In all honesty, she hadn't heard a lot from him. That was until she had come to her first Grand Prix single in 8 years. It felt weird not having someone to hold hands with, but she got on with it, showing her poker face and pretending not to care about her recent breakup. As she walked, she noticed an all too familiar spaniard, holding a gorgeous woman in his arms. It was a model, a model Y/n had seen on the catwalk of the Ferrari fashion event. That's where they must have met...back when Carlos was still in a relationship with Y/n. And that's how she found herself hiding like a kid scared of the dark, in between the Red Bull and Ferrari hospitality where no one could find her.
"Are you okay?" Y/n jumped as she wiped her eyes. "I- yeah. I'm fine. Who are-" She paused as she looked up to see Charles walking towards her. "What are you doing here?" Charles asked. "Inspecting the tyres, you?" Y/n replied quickly, drying her eyes. "Talking with the tyre inspector." Charles replied, sitting down next to her. Y/n looked up, her eyes swollen but grateful for the company. "Why are you crying?" Charles asked. "It's just-" Yhe tears had started again. "Carlos' new girlfriend is so much prettier, and she's so much skinnier and her hair is different, her eyes are different, we are just nothing alike and Carlos is just so happy with her." Y/n sobbed. Charles wrapped an arm around her, pulling her closer to him as her tears stained his red shirt. "He's moved on and I'm sat, befriending stacks of tyres."
"Well that's not true. I'm not a stack of tyres, am I?" Y/n chuckled at the light hearted joke Charles had made. "No, no you're not." She replied. "You seem to be much nicer to talk to than a set of tyres, to be fair." Unbeknownst to her, Charles had been silently witnessing the intricate dance of emotions unfolding in the paddock. His infatuation with Y/n had started years ago, at one of Max's early kart races.
"Charles, you cut me off there! You could've caused a crash," Max argued, frustration evident in his voice. Charles, eager to impress Y/n, tried to maintain composure. "Max, I had the racing line! You should've anticipated my move." He chuckled, looking over to Y/n subtly to see her reaction. "Anticipated? You came out of nowhere!" Max shot back. As Charles vehemently defended his position, Y/n couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. She expected a spirited rivalry, but Charles's insistence on being right grated on her nerves.
"Charles, back down. You know I'm right." Max urged, trying to defuse the tension. Yet, Charles, fueled by both competitiveness and a desire to impress, doubled down. "Max, I won't back down when I'm right." The harder Charles pushed, the more Y/n saw a side of him she didn't like. She began to see why Max always yelled about how much of a diclhead Charles was and she fully agreed now. "Charles, seriously, I will be to the stewards about it." Max insisted, the frustration evident in his tone. But Charles, in his pursuit of proving himself, didn't heed the advice. As the argument escalated, Y/n couldn't help but feel a growing distaste for Charles.
"You know what, Charles? Forget it. We're done talking," Max declared, grabbing his helmet and walking away with Y/n behind him. "Hij is een klootzak." Y/n muttered. "Ah, dus nu zie je die kant van hem?"
"Why are you even here? Don't you hate me?" Y/n asked, too tired to move her head from his shoulder. Charles sighed. "I never hated you, Y/n. You started hating me so I pretended to hate you back." Her brow furrowed in confusion. "But you always seemed so distant, so cold." Charles cast his gaze downward, confessing, "I didn't want Max to think I was interfering. I liked you from when I was in karting, but you started dating Carlos and I just gave up."
"I wish I had known, Charles," Y/n admitted, wiping away tears. "I could've used a friend." Charles offered a reassuring smile. "Well, you have one now. And if you'll let me, maybe more than just a friend." She sighed. "As much as I would love to, I just don't think I'm ready to have a boyfriend, let alone date my ex's teammate." Y/n replied. "That's fine. He's out of a Ferrari seat for next year anyway." Y/n smiled. "Listen, I don't care how long it takes. I've waited like what, 15 years already? I may as well hold on for another while."

Summary: She's the first female driver in F1 to race in a whole season, and she's the first to win more than a handful of race, let alone the World Champion, she's done it once, at the beginning of Red Bull dominance, can she do it again as it's dominance diminishes?
Requested: NO / yes
Tumblr media
In 2018, history was made when Valentina Norr signed for a full season as a Red Bull driver rather than a extended contract of a reserve driver for McLaren or Mercedes.
It was in 2020, when she made history again, when she became the first woman to win the World Championship, having taken Lewis Hamilton on for most of the season to win the championship and won by a mere 3 points.
It was speculated for months that after her win she would move to Mercedes then it was Ferrari, then McLaren. Also being speculated that after a mere two years of racing full time she was going to retire as it was only a 2-year contract with Red Bull.
But in the end it was announced for a contract extension to the 2022 season, a 2-year extension.
Then in 2022, there were more speculations of her moving from Red Bull to McLaren to be teammates rather than rivals with her boyfriend of six years Lando Norris.
Having met at McLaren in late 2016 and later in October 2017 starting to date.
But again stayed in Red Bull with both her and Max being announced to stay until the end of the 2028 season, a 6-year extension.
But it was just before the start of the 2023 season that it was announced that Sergio Perez would be taking the place of Valentina Norr as she would be unable to compete in the 2023 season.
During the season it was speculated many times as to why she was missing the entire season as no injury could make her stay out that long.
It wasn't until the 7th race of the season that she could be seen in the garage on the pit wall of Red Bull seemingly helping out her teammate Max Verstappen.
Again fans went crazy, speculating what could possibly be wrong, she seemed fine with no injuries.
Then at the 9th race of the season, ahead of race weekend Valentina took the social media to address rumors on why she was not participating in the season saying, "I have personal reasons to not race in the 2023 season, I want to be in the races and on the podiums so badly with Max, but my world changed over break and now revolves around more things than racing. I know so many of you miss me on that track, I miss being on the track too. But rest assured, I should be fine and ready to race next season. I look forward to seeing you all. But for now root for Max and Lando."
It captioned photos of her that where taken on the put wall and throughout the races she had been at during the season.
Then from the 10th race of the Spanish Grand Prix to the 17th race of the Italian Grand Prix fans noticed that she seemed to not appear at all in the Pit Wall or garage of Red Bull.
But when she returned in Singapore for the 18th race, she wasn't seen in Red Bull, but in McLaren all decked out in McLaren merch, having been seen watching from the Pit Wall.
She was seen at the rest of the races for the season, never straying far from McLaren, leading many to speculate that she would be moving to McLaren in 2024, taking Oscar's seat.
But when it was announced that Valentina Norr was going to be returning to Red Bull in the 2024 season, fans loved that she would be returning.
Though over the break before the 2024 season there was many rumors on why she left and opted out of the 2023 season so close to start, but with the speculations of why also came the paranoia of if it would happen again in 2024.
Which it didn't, Valentina was there from the first race of the season in Bahrain, getting P2 on the podium with Max and Lando.
In Saudi Arabia, she got P1 just milliseconds before Max.
Australia, she got P2 ahead of Lando and Charles, behind Carlos.
Then came Japan, and her getting P2 again behind Max and ahead of Carlos.
In China, she got P1 ahead of Lando and Max, P2 and P3 respectively.
In Miami, Valentina got P4, just under the podium, but still celebrated for Lando's win.
At Imola, she got P1 just milliseconds before Lando, who got P2.
With Monaco, she got P5 behind both Ferraris and McLarens.
In Canada, she got P1 with Lando and George following.
The Spanish and Austrian races having the same result of P1.
In Silverstone, she got P2 behind Lando, but got fastest lap.
At Hungary, she again got P1.
Belgium, Valentina got P2 and fastest lap.
The Dutch Grand Prix resulted in her ending in 2nd behind Max and ahead of Lando.
The Grand Prixes of Italy, Baku, Singapore, and the United States all had her ending P1 with two fastest laps.
In Mexico, she pitted at the wrong time losing her P1 place to Max and P2 to Lando, but she got fastest lap.
The three races of Brazil, Las Vegas, and Qatar, she ended P1 with fastest lap in Brazil.
At Abu Dhabi, she got fastest lap and P1, making history again by winning a second World Championship with 526 points.
On the podium, Valentina stood on the 1st place podium with Max in P2 and Lando in P3.
After the champagne spray and podium celebration, no one in the podium platform moved as Valentina went to get off of the podium stage, but Max pointed behind her to her boyfriend.
When she turned she found that Lando was on one knee.
"Valentina Norr, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife and making the happiest man alive by adding is to your name? You are the mother of my children and took a break from your career to be the best mom ever and you still are, but you could also be the perfect wife. So will you, Valentina Norr of Peru, marry me, Lando Norris of England?" Lando opened the ring box in his hand.
Valentina had tears in her eyes and quickly nodded her head, as Lando stood up and put the ring on her finger, leaving her speechless.
When she finds her voice all she can say is, "I love you, so so much."
She does find her voice seconds later, "You are the best father to our children and will continue to be and you are going to make the most amazing husband."
Then their three kids were brought out onto the podium, two boys and a girl, one of the boys seemed to be older than the other and the girl.
"It's your turn to win next year," Valentina says to Lando.
Tumblr media
A/N: I just want to say the last name of Norr was not the original plan of Noor, but I looked up Norr name meaning and it means north with Norris meaning northerner and I though it was funny and kept it. Shall we finish all of the 9 that I have to do? This is 2 of 9. I changed it from 12 because a two for today are collections that I'm still finalizing some things, and one I'm thinking of making it into two parts.

Actions Have Consequences...Finally
Well, at the Mexican Grand Prix, Max Verstappen was being his usual self. Lando Norris got a run on him into turn four, went to the outside, and Max blatantly pushed him off the road. Lando swerves to the left, cutting the track, and then slows up to left the leader - Sainz - back through, but remains ahead of Max.
This evidently pissed Max off, since a few corners later in the esses, he pushes Lando off yet again to get ahead.
The first incident is more comparable to COTA 2024, but this one was closer to Interlagos 2021 as both cars were pushed completely off track and that's how Max made the move.
Max would get a ten second penalty for each of these incidents, leading to him sitting for twenty seconds ahead of his first pitstop. For a brief moment in the Mexican Grand Prix, the two Red Bulls were running last and second to last, as Perez was also having a stinker and a half.
This marked a clear departure from the stewarding decisions at Circuit of the Americas a week prior, and this has led to discourse, because of course it has.
Now, some of it is sensible, including calls for a consistent, permanent stewarding panel that travels from race to race.
Most of it, however, is just Max fans whining about getting an unfair penalty that "ruins racing."
First things first, Max has been getting away with this non-stop for his entire career.
Max Verstappen hitting Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel at the start of the 2016 Belgian Grand Prix, then his moving twice under braking when defending from Max in the same race.
Singapore 2017, when a Schumacher-esque swerve by Vettel and a charge up the inside by Raikkonen led to Kimi, Max, and Vettel going three wide on a wet track. Max stayed in it despite a bad start, and this contributed to their turn one crash. This one isn't entirely on Max, but it's another example of how he'd rather have multiple cars crash than back out of a move.
Azerbaijan 2018, when Max moved late on the straight to block Daniel Ricciardo on the straight and led to that high-speed crash between the Red Bull teammates.
Austria 2019, when Max divebombed inside of Leclerc, they touched tyres, and he forced Leclerc wide (sound familiar?) to take the win.
The all-or-nothing racing with Lewis that he did in 2021 in Britain, in Italy, and in Saudi Arabia which almost felt like a race long meltdown by Max Verstappen as he made late and desperate moves to try and beat Hamilton. This is on top of Interlagos 2021, which I mentioned earlier, when he went off to Narnia with Lewis on his outside, forcing both of them wide as he didn't even attempt the force.
Then in 2022 and 2023, with Max having the fastest car in the world, this narrative started to form about Max growing up and improving his ways. Well, that went out the window in 2024, because when Max's car went to shit, the same old creature came out.
Austria 2024, when he and Norris crashed out, the aforementioned COTA 2024, and of course these double incidents at the Mexico City Grand Prix.
So the way I see it, Max getting penalties isn't a case of inconsistent stewarding, it's a case of him finally facing long overdue consequences.
Max has been doing this kind of stuff for years, and this take the inside, force the other guy off routine has been in his arsenal since the 2019 Austrian Grand Prix, at least, while the Mexico stuff he's used since the 2021 Brazilian Grand Prix. That's years and years of doing this kind of stuff. He has been making these over the line moves habitually.
He's a habitual line stepper.
Oh, but the Max defenders have an argument for that too. More of a whataboutism to be fair, but they claim that Max is doing the same things that Senna and Schumacher were celebrated for.
One: just because something has happened before doesn't make it okay.
Two: people absolutely hated the things that Senna and Schumacher did, and they faced consequences for their actions.
The Suzuka collision in 1989? Senna was disqualified from that very race for cutting across the track, denying him the chance to take advantage of taking out Prost.
Suzuka 1990? Prost called Senna's behavior disgusting and said that if this was how people were going to race, that he might as well just retire now.
For Schumacher, it's more of the same story.
Britain 1994? Schumacher passes Damon Hill on the formation lap, returns the position on the grid, but gets a five second stop-go penalty for the illegal, out-of-position on the parade lap move. Benetton told Schumacher to ignore this as they tried to appeal, going over the three lap threshold, getting the black flag, and then ignoring the black flag and instead trying to serve the initial stop-go penalty.
Schumacher was disqualified from the British Grand Prix and received a two-race ban. The team appealed the ban, but after Schumacher was disqualified yet again - this time for plank wear at the 1994 Belgian Grand Prix - the two-race ban was upheld.
Schumacher was disqualified twice and banned for two races in 1994 alone, and that was before taking out Damon Hill for the championship. The British press eviscerated him for this.
Then in 1997, with Ferrari, Schumacher had the Jacques Villeneuve incident in Jerez. The "you hit the wrong part of him Michael!" commentary was just the beginning of how the press laid into Michael for that one. He was considered a serial cheater by now, and the FIA seemed to agree, as he was disqualified for the entire 1997 season because of it.
Add Monaco 2006 and Hungary 2010 to the list as well.
Senna and Schumacher are your examples for forgiving Max Verstappen? Those are some of the most controversial drivers in F1 history, they're received plenty of hate, criticism, and harsh penalties. Therefore, it should be no surprise that Max is going to be treated the exact same way.
Actions have consequences.
Elsewhere in the racing world, the Thai MotoGP was pretty damn good - which is a relief since imo, last year was a bit of a snoozer - with Enea Bastianini winning the sprint, while in a chaotic wet race, Pecco Bagnaia triumphed over Jorge Martin, whilst Pedro Acosta put on a clinic in the final few laps to take third place.
Seriously, look up the Pedro Acosta/Jack Miller battle if you get the chance, because those two go side by side through the middle loop of the lap, racing hard, but racing fair. Everyone stays in the track limits, nobody gets crashed out, just a great battle between a Jack Miller who doesn't want to give up position, and a Pedro Acosta who is hungry for a podium.
Maybe Max could learn a thing or two from that.
As for NASCAR, unfortunately, I didn't see it. I was watching the Mexican Grand Prix and NASCAR was at the same time. It's the annoying time of year when racing series think it's a better idea to go against each other rather than challenging high and mighty football. That sucks because I think Homestead is a great track, but from what I hear, Tyler Reddick won.
Regular season champion into the final four. That's at least a decent bounce back after Logano went from out of the playoffs to championship contender in a week.

This is what makes me adore Max body , compared to the driver next to him he has a masculine body in a feminine way! He’s so curvy look at his little butt! I don’t mean to say that the body next to his is not beautiful no it’s absolutely hot but what I mean is Max body is not like other men’s body it has a feminine curves but still has manly body and muscles, he’s just perfect I think I’m gonna die
I completely agree, he is just this beautiful blend of broadness and soft curves and I can't get enough of it 😍
I don't know how he manages to look so large and muscular whilst still looking tiny and soft but he does.

The Smell of Roses - (post-Singapore)
I can't sleep and I can't not think about Daniel fighting just for that single point for Max :,)))
“I owe you a point,” Max announced as soon as the door opened.
Daniel stared, the light of his kitchen spilling onto the dark corridor, pooling around Max’s feet.
“Max,” he finally said, “mate, what the fuck?”
If you were to ask Max how he ended up outside Daniel’s apartment at 3am on a Tuesday night, he’d give you a couple of options to choose from.
The first is, of course, the race the weekend previous. His radio crackling to life as he meandered along the streets of Singapore, trying to catch his breath. Second place. Sweat soaked through his race suit, clinging to the collar and running down the groove of his spine.
Second place. Not great, but there was no catching to Lando today. Second place. Best of the losers, but sometimes he can’t do any better.
Radio. Christian, congratulating him. Telling him he couldn’t extract anything more from the car. Then, an afterthought.
“And your old pal Daniel picked up the fastest lap at the end as well, Max.”
His beat of silence before he clicked on the radio, saying the only thing he could think. “Thank you, Daniel.”
-
Or maybe the moment started seven years previous. 2016, just after the German Grand Prix. Max’s first podium shared with Daniel. From podium to alone in a Red Bull conference room, a few days later and waiting for a meeting to commence. Daniel, leaning back in the office chair, throwing his cap in the air, catching it. Max sitting across, watching. The arch of the cap, navy and red splitting the air. Higher and higher. Daniel aiming to hit the ceiling and still catch it. Max, just watching. Always watching, always in awe.
“Excited for the race?” Daniel asked lazily, head still tilted back as he caught the cap. Max still watching, free to memorise the outline of his Adam’s apple.
“Sure,” he replied, a beat too slow.
“Just so you know, because you’re actually catching up to me in points now, I’m afraid I won’t be able to let you win so much now,” Daniel gave Max a smile, joking but also tinged with something cut-throat. Max smiled back, unsure why. A reaction. Flower opening to the sun. A moth fluttering to a flame. Inescapable, unstoppable.
“I’m going to fight for every point,” Daniel continued, tossing the cap up again. It made a soft noise as it finally bumped against the ceiling tile. He whooped, catching it, grinning at Max. “See that?”
“Very impressed.”
“Yeah,” Daniel agreed, setting the cap on his styled curls. Smooth skin, light brushing of stubble. Bright eyes, an even brighter smile. Alight from the inside out. “Just like I caught that cap, I’ll catch all the points. Like a Pokémon trainer, gotta catch them all.” He laughed. “Just so you know.”
“Noted.”
“I’m getting all the points now. The honeymooning period is over, baby!” Daniel grinned, and Max was saved from a reply by the door opening, Helmut finally arriving.
-
Or maybe it was a few years later. Christian inviting Max to have breakfast at his table. Turkey, 2020, and Max had qualified second, but fucked up the start. Second to eight in a single second. Then, after making up precious places, stupidly losing control and spinning. Three pit stops later, and managed to drag the car to sixth place. His only race that season where he finished and didn’t get on the podium. His own fucking fault. Lewis, Checo, Sebastian spraying champagne, and Max ruined his racing gloves by pelting them so hard against the garage wall the seam tore.
“You really should take stock in your sixth place,” Christian said, buttering a croissant. “Eight points are valuable.”
“They’re useless,” Max muttered. Arms crossed, stubbornly refusing to touch his anaemic-looking spinach omelette. “They’re not exactly twenty-five points. Not much against Hamilton’s 307 points.”
If he had come first and Bottas hadn’t finished, he’d have gone up. Elevated finally to second in the championship. His first time ever being just one standing below the victor. But he fucked it. Now, there’s 27 points between him and Bottas. The gap growing, because he’s a fucking idiot driver.
“They’re not useless,” Christian said patiently, reaching for a little pot of jam. “Points are points.”
“Yeah, well, I’d rather take home 25 points rather than eight,” Max muttered, and Christian finally looked up, setting down his cutlery.
“Do you know Shakespeare?”
Max wrinkled his nose. “Shakespeare?”
“The English poet,” Christian replied, as if that was a perfectively normal conversation change.
“Of course I do. Romeo and Juliet and all that shit.”
Christian raised an eyebrow.
“Stuff,” Max amended.
“Perhaps you may have heard this quote,” he went on, finally beginning to spread the jam on his croissant. Max watched the action, his pale fingers holding the knife, dragging it back and forth over the buttery flakes. “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Have you heard of it?”
Sometimes, Max forgot his team principal went duck shooting and rode his own purebred horses in his downtime.
“No,” Max said. “Never heard of it.”
“It’s from Romeo and Juliet. And I like to think the quote can be extended also to F1 points. It doesn’t matter how many you get, or even how you get them. As long as you get them. As long as you stop your rivals from achieving them. No matter how many. Even a single point. Points, by any other name, would still smell as sweet.”
Max frowned, utterly lost. “We should call points something different? A codename? Is this like a strategy to confuse the other teams on the radio?”
Christian smiled, eyes creased. “Something like that, sure.”
-
Daniel has a rose tattoo. It’s on his thumb, small and dark and perfect. Max can see it now, the dark lines etched into his tanned skin. He’s holding the door open, fingers against door’s side, thumb facing Max.
A tiny rose.
-
Maybe, he has to go even further back to figure out why he’s here. Back to the very beginning.
At a carting track, sitting on a discarded wheel. His father kneeling in front of him, hand on his knees.
“How could you just like that boy get the better of you?” He was saying, voice low and urgent. “I didn’t raise a pussy, Max. Or did I?”
Max shook his head, but his dad was already continuing.
“Why didn’t you go for that opening at corner five? And don’t act like a bitch and say you were scared of crashing. There was enough space. And if there wasn’t, you make the space. Force the other driver to move. Nine times out of ten, a driver would rather get out of your way than have you crash into him. Why didn’t you push him? You could’ve Max, and then you would have an actual trophy, and not this plastic shit. Second?” He scoffed. “Fastest fucking loser. Say it back to me, Max.”
“Fastest fucking loser,” he mumbled.
“Good. Now, tell me. Why didn’t you do that move? No, don’t shrug like that. I was an answer.”
“I -“ Max’s tongue felt ten times heavier than usual. “I don’t -“
“You do know, because you did it. Tell me.”
“I… I didn’t… We are friends, and I did not -“
“Friends!” His father barked out a laugh, and then leaned close. “Listen Max. There’s no friends in racing. Do you know where having friends lead you too? Here, sat outside on the fucking ground when your friend takes photos with his trophy. It gets you fastest fucking loser. There are no friends in carting, no friends in F1. Nothing is genuine in this sport. And if you think it is, you’ll about to wake up with a knife in your back and dead last in every race. Now, which one would you prefer? Being last and having friends, or winning? Do you want to be a winner, Max?”
“Yes.”
“Then stop being a fucking pussy.”
-
Daniel congratulated him on his second world championship. Hugging him properly, arms wrapped around his shoulder, squeezing. Pulling away to grin.
“You really are the fucking goat,” teasing, but genuine. A warm flush across his already bronze complexion. Hand still clamped on Max’s shoulder. “Congratulations mate.”
Max trying to remember how to reply.
-
Or maybe it was GP trying to get Max to have a sit-down meeting with him on data feedback. 2019, and Max didn’t want to hear any of it.
“Fine. Please, you tell me what you want to do at the next race, and we’ll do it,” GP replied casually, good at hiding his annoyance. “Let me know. Sets, fuel, run plan.”
Max clenched his jaw, and the older man sighed. “Listen, I’m trying to help - “
“I don’t need help,” Max snapped. GP blinked at him.
“Max,” he said softly, as if breaking bad news. “Everyone needs help.”
“I don’t.”
He gave him a look, somewhere between pity and amusement. “Everyone needs help,” he repeated.
-
So yes, if you were to ask how he ended up here, outside Daniel’s door at 3am the weekend after the Singapore GP, Max would say there’s a few reasons.
“I owe you a point,” he repeated stubbornly. “You got the fastest lap in Singapore. You took the point away from Lando and McLaren and their fight for my title. So, I owe you a point.”
“Mate,” Daniel said, blinking, “sorry but let me repeat myself again. What the fuck?”

So, in the aftermath of yesterday, I thought it might be useful to make a little list of moments where Max behaved (in my opinion) in an unsportsmanlike way. Upon giving this a read, it should be quite obvious that Max behaves aggressively to almost everyone on the grid and that he was beyond lucky in 2021 to not get penalized like he had before then for similar incidents. Furthermore, if you're the type of person to write a post wishing for more incidents with max and other drivers as "karma" for 2021, kindly fuck off, as this list should show that max doesn't give a shit who he hits and for what position.
Mexico 2016 (Passes Vettel off-track and refuses to give the position back, earns a five-second penalty)
Hungary 2017 (Hits his teammate Ricciardo and causes him to DNF)
Mexico 2017 (Makes contact with Vettel and Hamilton, causing both to have to pit on the first lap. Max wins the race).
Bahrain 2018 (Hits Lewis, giving himself a puncture)
China 2018 (Hits Vettel and earns a 10-second penalty)
Baku 2018 (Collision with Ricciardo in an attempt to defend his position causing both to DNF)
Spain 2018 (Contact with Stroll at the end of a VSC period)
Monza 2018 (Defends aggressively from Bottas and forces him off the track, earning a 5 second penalty. Continues to refuse to let Bottas by and ends losing an additional position to Vettel because of his stubbornness).
Brazil 2018 (Has an accident with Esteban Ocon and then physically pushes him after the race)
Monaco 2019 (Makes contact with Bottas in the pits, forcing him to pit again and lose position. Makes contact with Lewis late during the race but both remain unscathed)
Austria 2019 (Forces Charles Leclerc off the track in the final laps of the race in a move that is identical to ones penalized in 2021 and onward; is never given a penalty and wins the race)
Mexico 2019 (Makes contact with Lewis at the start of the race, then hits Bottas a few laps later and gets a puncture)
Imola 2021 (Forces Lewis off the track to avoid contact at the start and goes on to win the race)
Monza 2021 (After an long pitstop, comes out right behind Lewis and attempts a move into Turn 1 that would never have succeeded. He bounces over the curbs and lands on top of Lewis' car, causing both to DNF. He immediately goes on the radio to say "that's what you get when you don't leave the space" and is handed a grid penalty. He never serves the penalty, however, as he takes a new engine for the following grand prix in Russia anyway)
Brazil 2021 (He is leading the race when Lewis attempts to pass, pushes him off the track so much they both go off in Lewis' attempt to avoid contact. This is not penalized due to claims that the "onboard footage" was missing and despite the missing footage being reviewed later that week, no penalty is ever given)
Abu Dhabi 2021 (Need I say more).
Brazil 2022 (Collides with Lewis, which damages his own car. Later in the race, he refuses to swap places with Perez for important championship points for his teammate, despite already being world champion at that point)
Singapore 2023 (He impedes Yuki during qualifying and is also stationary in the pit lane, both actions that normally incur penalties. He does not receive any penalty, a decision even the stewards later admit is a "mistake")
Austria 2024 (Defends aggressively from Lando, including moving under-breaking which should incur a penalty as an illegal move. When Lando attempts a move around the outside, he hits him twice and forces both cars off track and for both to have a puncture, with the damage on Lando's car being so great he DNF's).
I'm sure there's moments I'm missing but this is to serve as an illuminating example to those whose knowledge of F1 is more limited and haven't seen races pre-2022.

title: charles leclerc talks about his "red passion" author: roberto croci photographer: joseph degbadjo source: l'officiel series: f1, 2022
Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc talks about his beginnings, his myths - including Ayrton Senna and how he prepares for his races. And what he likes to do in his free time with his lifelong friends.
L'OFFICIEL ITALIA: Who chose to call you Perceval? CHARLES LECLERC: My father, perhaps he imagined his children as the legendary Knights of the Round Table. I have two brothers, the younger Arthur - who has speed in his blood - and Lorenzo, older than me, who always accompanies him to all the races..
LOI: Maybe one day together with Ferrari? CL: It would be a dream, but for now I want him to grow independently, to discover his path, the circuit is a difficult world, so much so that he knows that if he ever needs me I will always be by his side.
LOI: When did you discover your passion for this profession? CL : I was four years old and one day I told my father Hervé that I didn't feel well and I didn't want to go to kindergarten. I don't know why, he believed it and took me with him to the go-kart track of his best friend, Philippe Bianchi. (Father of the pilot Jules Bianchi, who died in 2015 on the Suzuka track, the first pilot to die after Ayrton Senna, nda). When I saw other children running on the track, I asked my father if I could try. For my first car I chose the color red, and after three laps I fell in love with this sport, I couldn't understand the concept of braking. On those tracks I started dreaming of becoming a pilot, then growing up I realized that I could make my dream come true and turn it into a job opportunity.
LOI: Do you ever feel fear? CL: Honestly… I felt scared in 2017 when I thought I could not succeed in becoming a Formula 1 driver. (Leclerc won the GP3 series championship in 2016; FIA Formula 2 in 2017 to debut in F.1 with the Alfa Romeo Sauber the following year, in 2018). Never afraid of speed, the day I'm afraid, I'll stop running immediately, because living in fear is half living.
LOI: Do you remember the first Grand Prix you saw?
CL: I was still a child, I had a friend whose apartment had a balcony overlooking the Monte Carlo circuit. Of course, I always supported red cars, which have always been a special color for me, even though I didn't know Ferrari existed yet. I repeat, I am living my childhood dream.
LOI: Your favorite driver? CL : My idol has always been Ayrton Senna, from what I have been able to see from documentaries and talking to people who knew him, I discovered that he was a special person, not only behind the wheel, perhaps the best in history, but also as a human being. He will always be a legend, and not just for me.
LOI: Give me a list of your favorite team and circuits. CL: Senna for sure, Prost, Niki Lauda, James Hunt, Michael Schumacher and... Hamilton would be fine too. Monaco and Singapore the circuits, precisely because if you make a mistake you pay for it immediately.
LOI: There's been a lot of talk about mental health in sports lately. How do you keep your focus? CL : Even if I run at 300km per hour I'm a human being, I alternate between beautiful moments and difficult moments, I'm not a superhero. To maximize my concentration, even though I've always been good at handling tense moments, I've been doing breathing exercises since I was a boy. They help me stay calm, they're part of the job of achieving a level of focus that helps me maximize my potential. Preparing for the race is 90% of the work, you have to think about everything from strategies to teamwork.
LOI: Since you spend most of your time in a pilot suit, how do you like to dress in your spare time? CL: Even if it doesn't seem like it, I really like fashion, it's a way to express myself without speaking. I have two types of styles, one very streetwear, causal, relaxed but refined, and then the more classic one, complete with jacket and elegant trousers. I'm not very fond of ties and I use them little. I often wear garments from the new Ferrari line, they are aerodynamic and the fabrics are technical but with an air of couture. Plus they have my favorite color, you should know what it is by now.
LOI: When you're not running, what do you do? CL: I'm a normal guy, I spend time with friends. They are Ricardo, Alex, Thomas, Guillaume, Nico, Hugo, and Joris. I'm the hard core of my youth. We go to the beach, to the restaurant, we play soccer, we play sports together because we are all sportsmen, even if it is difficult for me to find free time to spend with them. I do normal things, even if my life remains different because while they study, I live my passion. I love racing, I love Ferrari, I'm lucky.
LOI: Do you play Formula 1 video games? CL: I play with my brothers, it's a lot of fun because normally we never talk about racing together, but we do when we play. During the lockdown, with other riders, we organized challenges on Twitch, because we wanted to entertain our fans who couldn't come and see us racing. It was a tough time for everyone, at the same time I had the opportunity to stop for a moment and live a more normal life with my family.
LOI: Your favorite moment before a race? CL: When I put my helmet on and everyone comes out of the pit lane, at that point I'm alone with my car and it feels good. It's like a nest, I don't feel any sensation, zero tension, I'm completely relaxed waiting for the ride.
