Hi yeah so reading comprehension implies that we’d be reading what you wrote. So you didn’t mention this was about Tomione fans that hate Harrymort. You implied it without explicitly stating it. So you can’t toss a reading comprehension issue at something that’s implied. But also I’m not here to argue with you about semantics.
Personally, I haven’t seen people in the Tomione spaces that I’m in hating on harrymort. (Several spaces I’m in actually pushback when people try to hate on others ships). However I know that isn’t the same thing as them not existing. Have I been missing these posts in the Tomione/Volmione tag?
i'm convinced people who adamantly only like tomione/volmione would eat up harrymort if harry were a girl...
#also I’m not sure that hermione is a convenient female character for Voldemort#like in canon she interacts with him uhhh * checks notes * twice? maybe#that said I know there’s a lot of homophobia in fandom#and there’s a bigger issue here that’s bugged me for years#the one where you’ll see a lot of female fans shipping m/m characters#which I don’t think is inherently bad#but I know that a lot of people tend to side eye them when they don’t go as hard for f/f ships#which I think is valid#but also I think there’s an issue where a lot of mainstream media just develops the male characters more#so idk where I’m going with this#I think it’s a two things can be true situation#since this post is now complaining about homophobia in fandoms#(which wasn’t in the original text)#I’m dropping these thoughts in the tags

Long rant ahead 💀
I agree with the autistic Tommy kinard!!! I hate the anti saying how Tommy is just a shitty character and not autistic and it’s ableist to claim he is. Then I’m like ??? So many people headcanon buck as adhd way before Oliver agreed and no one had a problem with that? I am audhd and I relate to both Tommy and buck. It’s like no one cna have a headcanon anymore. I have been a buddie fan since the very beginning and I am enjoying bucktommy! But…all these hateful buddie Stan’s are actually making me hate buddie .
Aside from this everyone abc post something the start posting homophobic stuff towards Tommy. Have started saying Tommy and Lou should just die. 😐
Last point is that, they don’t have any media comprehension skills. They both infantilize buck then turn around and claim bucktommys do that to him?? Buck has gone to therapy for so long and is actively working on his abandonment issues and trying not to hold people too tightly etc ei him apologizing for being a jerk to Eddie and Tommy, letting Chris go to Texas with his grandparents. He is just discovering being bi Tommy is more experience so it makes sense as well as him having familial connections to the 118 makes him a safe choice for now. Eddie runs away from all his problems and it’s not bucks responsibility to fix Eddie. Eddie hasn’t gone to therapy after that whole fiasco. He needs to work on himself first. If buddie were to happen it needs to be a place were to lines meet. While support is good sacrificing ones mental health for another partner is so bad.
Also the season was short. The cruise took a big part of the season as well as working the wedding then the bi Buck storyline and ending with an Eddie breakdown. Antis complain about bucktommy not getting so many scenes together etc. BFFR
The whole “TOMMY WAS TRYING TO GET WITH EDDIE FIRST” I hate. Can gay men not have friends?!?!? Crazy concept!! YOU CNA BE GAY AND HAVE FRIENDS Like Tommy reconnected with chim hen and Bobby and then met both buck and Eddie. Realized both Eddie and him had so much in common compared to the other at the 118. THEY CALL TOMMY A PREDATOR AS IF THAT ISNT SOME FUCKING WEIRD ASS HOMOPHOBIA. and then claim that people just wanna see to white guys kiss calling it a fetishizing.I AM A AUDHD HISPANIC BISEXUAL GUY WHO HAS A BRAIN PLS USE YOURS.
sorry but like I hate the 9-1-1 fandom so much now.
anon you speak the truth !!! 10/10 agree with everything you said. Truthfully I have nothing to add other than it’s nice to know that other people think the same as I do and the hate circulated in just a loud minority of viewers. <3 🚒

idk if this is appropriate since it isn't about canon izzy directly but i need somewhere anonymous to complain about 'the canyon.' i'm not in a lot of fandoms so i don't know if this is normal fandom behavior or what. I hope it isn't. this has been a uniquely upsetting experience for me. I have, like, next level autism for this show so of course i had to find Every single scrap of information about it and in the course of my obsessive 'research' i encountered these guys a lot, almost from the very beginning.
at first i thought it was funny and cute, like when people are hot for hannibal lector or some fucked up little guy. they wrote the worst ever fanfiction. that was fine, I could forgive that. but then they started saying things like 'if you watch it from izzy's perspective you'll see that he's the real hero and ed is the villain.' like girl no I've watched it 96 times and never once found this authoritarian incel karen good or relatable. the one that really got me was 'in any other show he'd be the protagonist.' yeah bro that's why i like this one? go watch one of those?
by like the fourth month they already had a bizarre victim complex. I just avoided talking about him completely because they would get really rude and start in with the guilt trips if you mentioned izzy even in a neutral way, let alone if you said anything about homophobia or psychological abuse. they called people abusive and homophobic and racist (?) if they said anything negative about fictional white man izzy hands. they threatened to sue someone. remember when there was an essay about him in a zine that was actually pretty positive? and most of the comments online were about how the actors and writers would definitely read this and be heartbroken. probably cry. maybe not even want to make the show anymore. it was a fan zine.
i didn't even like izzy except as an antagonist, but somehow they almost convinced me that i was watching it wrong. i started to seriously think, like, what if the writers were on his side all along? what if they really were making the main (queer, indigenous) love interest abusive and my very favorite thing was not as good as i thought it was? why not, when i've always had to twist a story to pretend it's for me? maybe i'd done it without realizing this time. i would have been so disappointed. and the way season two was done, there was like a week where i think i really believed it. it made me feel like i couldn't trust my own judgement. probably I was depending too much on this one tv show for serotonin because I cried a lot during that time, but you know how it is. the point is, it should have been a fun time for me but it was not.
i was so happy when he died, though. that cheered me right up and i'm fine now. i know I'm being dramatic and none of my complaints are very important in the grand scheme of things (i didn't even get into the racism) but they almost fucked up my Autism Favorite Thing for me and i want it to be documented somewhere that i will never forgive them for that <3 <3 <3
#31.
related posts: #29
(so i'd have posted this anyway bc of recent posts talking about questioning their views of izzy bc of the prevalence of canyon takes insisting he's a protagonist etc. but even without that, this blog was literally created because of a need for a space to talk about canon izzy and a need for acknowledgement that fanon izzy has become very widespread, mostly due to the canyon actions you mention. so it's difficult to separate the two when the blog was partially born from people thinking they were the only one to feel this way!)

shipping nonsense when it comes to ship wars involving het ships vs same sex ships
I am going to be honest ship wars happen in all fandoms its normal whats irritating is when hte ship war happens to involve a same sex ship vs het ship some people who ship the same sex ship will claim that you would ship my ship if it was a het ship. Which is rather baseless do you have any idea how many ship wars there are people choose to ship something that appeals to them etc.
It also makes a joke of real homophobia by using it for shipping saying you are a homophobe if you dont ship my ship or if you criticize a canon same sex ship or say its forced.
sorry but not shippinga specific same sex ship and shipping a het ship over it isnt homophobia.
saying it has no buildup isnt homophobia
They would say we shouldnt criticize the same sex ship or accept it just because there arent many canon same sex ships its ridiculous since I bet that if the het ship had became canon they would still criticize the het ship. It doesnt matter that there arent that many same sex ships ships should be judged my the merit not by genders involved
I feel that these people often project when they claim that if say for example yang was a man you would support the ship considering they seem to outright disdain sun for being a man and have outright state the genders involved as a reason to ship it or as a reason to claim blacksun was forced for example
I feel there are many people on tumblr who fetishize same sex ships in either the otaku form or the I will frame it as activism shippers.
the fact that there arent that many same sex ships, doesnt mean that the same sex ship if it does become canon deserved to be canon. for good writing is more important
the you would have shipped it if it was a m/f ship has always been absurd and the intent is to attack someone . you could easily flip it on them
this is back from 2015
they were just complaining about the ships they wanted werent teased. they were the ones claiming a ship was forced because of the genders involved. calling blacksun forced just because it was a het ship being teased. when it wasnt in anyway forced. the same sex ship that they wanted didnt get anything that actually hinted at it while a het ship did.
and it isnt the only post or comment like this which showcases any accusation of homophobia or if y/ng was a man you would ship it is projection
for they based not liking blacksun based on sun being a man
here is a comment I saw in response to the above post
“I think this is all the explanation needed(and all you need to dismiss people trying to take moral superiority over liking b/////bee). Something the toxic side of the fandom loves to do is project and project hard. They cannot understand why someone would not think like them or like the things they do unless there’s something wrong with them or they contextualize it through what they themselves would do.And that’s one of them accidentally explaining how that relates to b/////bee: wasps like it because it’s a gay ship. They thought Black Sun was forced because it was not a gay ship. Therefore, since everyone must either think like them or be defective, clearly you think b/////bee is forced because it’s not a straight ship. You don’t like it because it’s gay.“ “
now that after giving blacksun 5 volumes of buildup while the other ship got nothing and the writers suddenly changing direction they claim that calling it forced is homophobia or just based on genders involved which comes off as projection. and its not like what anon did anon called blacksun forced because it was a het ship being teased the ship they wanted didnt get anything In contrast they threw out years of buildup in order to make that other ship happen
@hardfestivaldream
it has been twice where I have seen a forced same sex ship become canon when it didnt have the buildup required
one was thrown in at the last 2 minutes of the finale
the other after giving one ship 5 seasons of teasing mutual attraction development and buildup while the other ship got nothing that hinted at romance all their moments were platonic
I find their attempts to claim its we should stop complaining about it because there are tons of het ships to be idiotic and projection
we didnt ship it because of the genders involved we liked their interactions, and
I bet if they hadnt thrown away all that buildup and went through with it they wouldnt stop complaining about it. they dont get to claim its different. the notion that it should be accepted just because of the genders involved when it reeked of direction change is idiotic
we liked the ship due to their interactions
even if you do believe that the same sex ship had build up rather then claim homophobia why dont you handle it or view it like you would if it was a het ship vs het ship.
because from my experience it comes off as just an easy way to attack someone or projection given that there are people who fetishize that type of stuff or think of it as activisim

Yep. I was extremely active in the madcom subreddit. And the amount of transphobia/homophobia I saw was INSANE. I couldn't scroll through the comments of a post about LGBTQ headcanons or ship art would seeing at least one annoying ass person whining about it. Which is funny because the characters they consider to be masculine men aren't actually men since Krinkles has said that basically gender doesn't exist in Madness Combat. So that would mean they are all canoncly non binary or agender. (And no the fact they are usually represented as masculine and usually use he/him pronouns doesn't make them any less of that)
Now about the racism and misogyny. I personally didn't saw a lot of racism. I did saw few people complaining that Sanford was played by a black person in the live action trailers. Which is still bad but at least I didn't saw a lot of it (but yet again just because I didn't doesn't mean that it didn't exist there's still the possibility that there was a shit ton of racism in the fandom that I just didn't came across).
And for misogyny. I didn't saw a lot of female ocs. Mostly because I wasn't interested in oc stuff back at the time so I mostly avoided it. But however when White Hank became popular in the fandom, all the fanart I saw of her was just sexualising her. And like I know women with big boobs exist and that it's not anything sexual. But I'm talking about INSANELY huge boobs. Like thoss anime fanservice characters iyk. And in. Every. Single. Damn. Art I saw of her she was drawn like this. Not even masculine just a stick figure with insanely huge boobs. Which always grossed me out, especially when all the "male" characters were drawn so damn masculine and strong but when it was the "female" character she was sexualised. Because nooooooo women can't be masculine, they can't be strong they are only sex toys (/neg)
(this confessions a lot about fandom drama shit from my personal experience. Mod if you don't want any drama feel free to delete this confession!)
I full heartly believe this fandom hates women, or trans people, I'm not sure. Maybe both. Because whenever I tried to post my trans fem headcanons for any character. I would have people jump on me like it was a fucking crime and tell me about how "they're a masculine man! Baa" "Madcom isn't about gay relationships! Waa" "It makes no sense! Wa wa wa wa wa"
And I was like why the fuck did it bothered them so much that I headcanoned ONE of their oh big masculine daddys as a trans women and use she/her when refering to them. Do they just hate women? Or are they just transphobic? Do my knowledge legit every madcom character is represented like a masculine man, is it really that fucking bad that I headcanoned one of them to be a woman??
(I'm honestly convinced they really just fucking hate women, because when there FINALLY was a female-character that was popular in the fandom [White Hank] all they did was sexualise her, which says a lot to me)
Honestly I'm not that surprised after all. I did posted my headcanons on fuckin Reddit. I should had excepted that reaction from Reddit lolziez but whatever
.

Welcome to the beach! 🌴
Beach Blanket Black Sails is an 18+ fandom event to appreciate and share our love for Black Sails, Starz’ historical fiction pirate adventure series.
If you’re not familiar with the show, it’s a prequel to Treasure Island (yes, the same Treasure Island you may have enjoyed as a kid, but don’t worry about it). Black Sails is mid-2010’s premiere television, which means many beautiful people do extraordinary and sometimes awful things in expensive ways. There are ships, and cannons, and Spanish gold, and a lot of sex and violence. It also (eventually, we promise) tells stories about greed and power, narrative and truth, freedom and resistance, and about queer love, rage, and grief (and love, again).
Black Sails ended in 2017 and has been an understated but real presence in fandom since it started in 2014. There are about 4,800 fics in the Black Sails tags on Ao3. Lately, Black Sails seems to be picking up speed again in certain fandom circles, and so now seems like a good time for us to start shouting our love for it, too.
Okay, but what IS this?
Beach Blanket Black Sails is made up of two parts, both optional.
The first part is a semi-scheduled rewatch starting this summer. We’ll post a link to our proposed schedule, but you’re welcome to watch whenever it works for you.
(We should also mention that we’ve been calling it a rewatch but first-time viewers are also so, so welcome.)
The second part is a fic (and art, if you like!) fest. This will run throughout the fall, with the window for prompts opening on August 22, 2021 and final fills posted by December 10.
All of this will be supported through a Discord server. There will be a link to our server posted on this blog in the next few days, as we get it set up. We want this to be a fun, relaxed atmosphere; if you have experience modding and are interested in volunteering, please send us a DM or an ask!
Who can participate?
Everyone who is over 18 or the legal age of majority in your country is welcome to participate. Black Sails is emphatically adult content and we can’t endorse or take responsibility for minors (or for anyone, really) for whom that content isn’t suitable.
What are the rules?
A FAQ for the fest can be found here but in general, writers (and artists, if you like!) will fill prompts submitted by anyone participating in either the rewatch or the fic fest. Fills will be posted to an Ao3 collection and revealed around mid-December 2021.
The rules for participating in the event more generally are as follows:
This event is an adults-only event.
Be kind and respectful; remember that every username is a human being.
We shouldn’t have to say this, but this includes not harassing people for their ships, their meta, or their content.
We REALLY shouldn’t have to say this, but this also means that racism, homophobia, transphobia, queerphobia, ableism, fatphobia, ageism, sexism, and the like are not welcome in this event.
Finally, no complaining about pirate puns or silly server names. It gets us through the day!
Is there anything else I should know?
We’ve mentioned it already, but Black Sails is extremely adult content. The show contains graphic violence, torture, explicit sexual content, depictions of enslaved persons, sexual assualt, imperialism and colonialism, and extensive drug and alcohol use. It is also frequently funny, tender, heartbreaking, beautiful, and insightful. If this is your first time watching Black Sails, we ask that you enter into it prepared to encounter and engage with this content and these themes, or to back out or otherwise self-manage if you are not able to watch uninterrupted.
The deeply personal and variable nature of triggers means that we will not be providing content warnings or trigger warnings for each episode. You can find some detail on Does the Dog Die?; others may be found with a google search.
All of this said, we really do want this event to be fun. Black Sails is fascinating, but it’s also wildly entertaining and compelling TV! Please, put on your best pirate fits and grab a glass of your favourite (adult) beverage, and come shout with us about how incredible this absolutely wild piece of television is!
Follow this blog or check back soon for more info!

I am a hard Taekook shipper but recently Jikook have been melting my heart by being so cute and cudly and loving. I understand and i am sorry for so mhch hate from Taekookers but trust me Taekookers are a bit shaken right now. I cannot disclose my name here but i would like to say if Jikook is real or they decide to come out which i higly doubt then i am 100% in support and also ur page helped me open my eyes and see a diff sude of shipping which is needed alot more. I am Loving Love ryt now.
C'est la vie!
So sorry for the late response love. You've always been on my mind.
I get not every Taekooker is wild and rabid just as not every Joker is sane and fake woke. Lol.
I mean I'm still holding on to my grudge against your people for storming my business pages and leaving shit reviews on my books- and laughing about it? What was that? Damn. Had to change my author name and everything and I've since been publishing under an alias- let me tell you, it's no fun at all.
In retrospect, I shouldn't have called y'all's ship dead- but honestly it dead, it dried up like a drop of sweat on a dessert. What can I say? People just don't want the truth, lol- had these angry thirteen year olds and fake woke Jokers coming for my ass and my business ass on the flamingo app. Chilee. Your people don't want to be civil. Sigh.
Some people just have no sense of personal responsibility and when they get called out for it they slap you with the whole, 'no one asked you to put yourself and your business out there' - this creepy behavior and mental adroitness is not far from rapists blaming girls for wearing short shorts and mini skirts or thieves blaming people for not putting up a fence and shit to protect their property. It's fucked up.
And don't get me started on what they do to Jimin or JK... or even Tae- not to make you feel bad or anything. It's just my people suck, your people suck, we all suck square- don't apologize for it unless you plan on doing something to change it?
As for Taekook, yea I don't think there is anything wrong with shipping them. They have a beautiful bond, they are both visuals and both funny as hell. If you won't ship them I will. Lol.
Just know the reason you are shipping them? If you are shipping them because you genuinely believe they are a couple too then you need to stop shipping them and start supporting them?
And once you start supporting them then I think you'd sooner realize there isn't anything there to support in the first place. Lol.
I support Jikook because I believe with my full chest they are real and are closeted- emphasis on closeted. And for the record, they are the only queer couples in BTS.
Tae lost his queer card when he accidentally outed Jimin on that radio show. 'I think he likes men' yea, straight up het behavior. Lack of homo sensitivity.
Did you see JK's reaction when JM was asked to spill tea on their pervy behaviors behind cams? My butt quivered. Chilee, I thought he was gone out JK too. Damn.
I think the word real and closeted have come loose and cheap on these streets these days. I don't think most of these shippers when they throw it around fully understand the term or realise what it means and what it takes. If they did, they wouldn't randomly be labeling every ship as 'real' within the fandom.
If you believe Taekook is real and that they are equally hiding their sexuality as well as their relationship within the group, then you should understand how severe and traumatizing this fact is and would be for them as gay men?
The thing is, they are not just hiding parts of themselves and their identity for the sake of their careers or military or whatever if they are real, they are lying to millions, millions of people at a time about who they really are by keeping their identity a secret. Secrets are lies honey, however way we want to see it.
If they are real then they are concealing their true identity away from not just their families and friends- if they haven't come out to them, but acquaintances from work, businesses who wouldn't work with them otherwise, brands, sponsors, Heads of states, their fans....
It's one thing for a heterosexual to keep their heterosexual relationship a secret, it's another for a queer person to keep their queerness and or queer relationship a secret.
A lie as heavy as this is bound to take a toll on them, no matter how good they are at hiding it. A secret gets heavy before it gets easy. Not to sell you on anything but do you see any such secret taking a toll on Taekook? Because I see it taking a toll on Jikook.
Do you believe Taekook are closeted? Because I believe Jikook are.
Being closeted means they have to carry the guilt of knowing that each time they pander to heteronormative roles in variety shows or interviews, or imply by omissions that they are straight, or make generalizing statements about their sexuality to avoid addressing their sexuality directly or give it away, that they are lying to people and spewing half truths- seven years in a roll.
Being closeted is not a joke. It's heavy. I think you need to grasp this before you claim it for anyone.
People like to throw the 'closeted' phrase around willy nilly but fail to comprehend its weight and complexity and consequences especially for people that they believe are actually queer.
It's not easy lying to people about who you are. Unless you are a pathological liar and a psychopath, it's like drowning each day you wake up. You die a little each time. Your sexuality is a huge part of your identity and when you deny it for so long by lying and suppressing it, it's like shutting out a peice of yourself and silencing your own voice. The more you push it aside the louder it screams and the harder it fights to come out.
It's a state of constant internal struggle. You wake up everyday contemplating whether to risk the perfect life you've spent years building just so you can turn off the guilt that comes with keeping a secret of this nature.
And each time you get better at omitting or generalizing and evading questions that hint at your truth, the more you hate yourself and the more guilt you feel. This guilt can become a driving force that pushes you to make risky moves and take impulsive actions such as 'borderline outing your relationship'- does that sound like Taekook to you?
If you are not driven by the love you feel for your partner, you are driven by the guilt and neither is a great place to be if you are queer.
You lie everyday, you get caught up in the lies and soon you start believing in the web of lies you've woven around yourself such that you don't even recognize who you are or why you are, anymore. As such, you are constantly searching for yourself, to reconcile the bits you've hidden away and perhaps forgotten, and you keep exploring your identity because you are unsettled- honey, that sounds more like Jikook than Taekook to me but c'est la vie.
Being closeted is not about moments that get cut by editors, or less interactions, or being seperated or seated further apart from eachother. These are just ship street parlance. Being closeted is an attitudinal, internal attribute rather than external manipulations or influences- it's a science. Lol
Coming out may be risky for any of these boys if they are real, but I promise you hiding is much harder for them.
And so When I look at Taekook, and I see how beautiful they are yet I don't in God's honest truth see them 'dealing' with any or all of these struggles Jikook deal with or have dealt with at one point, in my opinion- forget the homophobia, the wanting to come out, the low key microaggressions they deal with even within the group- 'the Jk never stops crying,' 'the real men don't do this and that talk' talk, the toxic masculinity and internalized homophobia traits JK and Jimin used to exhibit in their early days talking about 'real men don't twerk,' 'real men don't wear rings on their pinky'- all the times Jimin have had to defend his masculinity or even femininity, or stand up for Kook's within the group. 'Men, men, men. What is men?'
Jikook are the only two within the group that in my opinion have struggled most with their identity, with embracing aspects of themselves; you hear them complain about 'living a lie' 'tired of hiding, lying' and all these are themes consistent with closet behavior that they've both explored in one way or the other and even as of 2020 they are still dealing with or 'exploring' their identities perhaps as a means to reconcile their true selves? I'm really struggling with this post because I don't wanna get salesy on your ass. Lol.
Don't get me wrong, Tae struggles and deals with issues too- mostly with loneliness, lowkey depression in my opinion, lowkey bullying- sometimes, lol and he often expresses a desire to find someone and be happy and yet 'his supporters' don't recognize that...
You can wait till Jikook come out officially as queer, if they ever chose to, to support them- Or you can choose to support them and love them now because that's what they need in order to officially come out as and when they choose to? Ok I'm being salesy. Lmho. I'll stop. Don't mind me. But think about it.
Ship whatever ship you want but support Jikook. It's all I'm asking. And by support, I mean don't exhibit any anti homosexual attitude towards them- deadass. You and I gone fight, square up toe to toe, if you do. Lol.
People don't need to be afraid of Jikook. They just need to treat them as human beings and not reduce them to a mere ship. They are a ship too yes, but they are more than that if you ask me.
You sound nice. I love you. I'm glad you enjoy my posts. Merry Christmas and cheers to our ships.
Keep supporting Jikook. Jikook is real.
Signed,
GOLDY

You re such a cool girl beatles fandom really need a cool girl lol.
Also I was just wondering something about gay and straight fans here on tumblr. The way straights see J/P is either fetishization, cute comfort ship or blatant homophobia.
Most academic research and song analysis has been brought by gay women (and we usually have the best humor lol) but I cant help but wonder if we do something that us gays do when we see a complex relationship that doesn't comfirm to the heteronomative standards, we project our feelings. A lot. So... I just think people shouldn't think about all this too seriously because at the end we all are having fun. (Expect annoying paul girs but oh well)
look, stop overthinking fandom. just stop. it's useless and unnecessary, and it ruins your fun and everyone else's. the only reason i posted that person's comments was because they were straight up being homophobic towards a man they consider gay vs. the guy they see as their heterosexual hero. other than that, i really don't give a fuck about how they enjoy their fandom space. i'm sure they're saying worse shit on their blog right now, but i won't see it so, why bother?
about the research and the analysis, there's definitely a majority of gay women on tumblr, but there's also quite a few of gay men, especially trans gay men, around! this "projection" thing (no one is ever gonna learn what this word means huh) is definitely true, but in no way limited to the "shipper" side of the fandom; just look at the ""drama"" that was going on this week (it wasn't drama, it was me complaining about homophobia, but whatever makes this conflict-avoidant fandom feel better): her fave is obviously Paul, which is fine, and she can't stand John or the adoration he gets, which is fine, so the most logical step is to "project" her love of Paul onto John, so he looks like the only one in love, but since she dislikes him, he's also incredibly pathetic and obsessed, which drops him to the psycho-homo level of adoration.
overall, i think it's valid to see parts of ourselves in the people we love. we may blow up these traits out of proportion, but they're still there; we focus on how much Paul loves John (and vice versa) because we love John, and try to disregard the huge amount of jealousy and resentment from BOTH parties because it's not exactly how we feel about them. if someone doesn't like John, they will not focus on Paul's obsession with him, and the same applies to John. i think any way to enjoy fandom is valid, so unless you're being a homophobic cunt, just do you <3
#ask#the fetishization part is kind of... huh to me#like people here complain about straight ppl like caroline and others talking about JP in sexual/romantic terms#and call it fetishization without having ANY idea of what it really means#didn't blink an eye at what that woman said simply because she has the Bisexual Card. fuck off#sure she wants to see them fuck and so does rob sheffield so lmao#except he's getting paid to act it down and she's not#also the amy dunneficiation of user stewy thank you

Hiya! I just wanted to ask a real quick question (or several lol)? Why does the fandom, essentially, ignore and/or coddle TKrs (and maybe some other shippers? Still new to the fandom so I have seen a lot of hate come from the TKr area of shipping. Haven't seen other shippers do it as of yet.) and the disgusting narratives they spew? And some of it is even accepted as gospel if it spreads around enough and is not thoroughly checked? And yet when Kookmin is even mentioned, we, shippers/supporters, are instantly shut down. It does not even have to be something big, just someone saying how cute they are and they instantly get shut down with multiple excuses. Why does a big part of the fandom allow these awful narratives be spread about these boys, especially JM, JK, and Tae? Why do they continue to let these things happen and let them fester and grow into something truly nasty? For example, why do people allow channels like TKlives continue to post and not tear them down? The repulsive perspectives from this channel about these boys truly baffles me. It is putting these toxic ideas of romance and love into these young minds (and old minds too I am sure) and it makes me wonder how they will have a relationship when this is all they know about it.
I know that every fandom is somewhat toxic but damn does some of this fandom have some weird prejudices and homophobia mixed into it. And I know that every shipping community has toxic people in it, even in Kookmin. It just bothers me to see a fandom that is supposed to be all about loving yourself and others, just have a somewhat rotting core to it? Sorry if this is doesn't make much sense! My brain has been all over the place.
BTW, this is not meant to hurt or offend anyone. I am just trying to get some answers. And if I do offend, then I apologize in advance. Have a nice day everyone! :)
Anon, the questions you are asking now are the same ones many of us have been asking since we came to this part of fandom.
Sometimes I think that maybe we complain too much, that we are hypersensitive when it comes to Jimin and Jungkook and kookmin but I quickly realize that no, we are not, that it is not an exaggeration when we say that in ship issues Jikook is held to different standards than the rest of the ships and the same goes for their shippers or supporters.
I don't know if the fandom in general coddle tkkrs but since I came to this part of the fandom I haven't seen non-shippers be as demanding of them about the things they say as they are with jikookers. And I think few can deny that the things tkkrs say about taekook are most of the time grotesque and offensive. They certainly deserve to be reprimanded and the people who say them deserve to be call out, but I don't remember them doing so. I don't remember seeing hundreds of comments under tkkrs's posts saying they are brothers, citing the fact that Jungkook calls Tae hyung etc. I don't recall seeing comments insulting them, telling them not to be disgusting or that by saying taekook is real they are making Jungkook and Tae uncomfortable. Maybe it's because I have a pretty curated tl and I just don't see those things, I certainly don't go around looking for what tkkrs say. Or simply these things do not happen or at least not with the frequency as when it comes to jikook and their shippers and supporters.
Ahh tkklies, as far as I know one time people did get their channel suspended but many non shippers and shippers from other ships defended them and got the suspension lifted so...
Don't be surprised that around the time Memories is about to be released several jikook accounts will be suspended on twitter and that antis will try once again to suspend peaches.

bruh i just got into CR fandom recently and holy shit im glad i wasnt here for the ship wars lmao kinda want the tea tho but like i dont wanna bring that kinda drama to your blog
i mean i’m not in the fandom anymore but the long and short of it is that beaujes gained popularity pretty early on and started developing while ashley was absent due to blindspot. pre-hiatus it actually seemed like laura & marisha were leaning into it more. then hiatus happened, ashley came back permanently, and beaujes was practically erased from existence in favor of pushing the cast-approved ships of fj/by.
to be clear i’m not one of those who thinks it was some kind of malicious grand conspiracy. i think it’s more likely a combo of 1) laura wanted to romance travis and probably wore him down over time, 2) cast wanted ashley/travis to be able to play a pc romance this campaign, 3) shipping logistics wherein beaujes would mean there wouldn’t be a viable ship for the straights since it would take the only available “straight” female pc (jester) out of the running, and 4) the cast had a misguided perception of which ship had the most traction online and/or had their own biases against beaujes/in favor of by/fj, which helped lead to the massive swerve post-hiatus. i don’t think any of that translates to malintent, though i do think the way it was handled post-hiatus by the cast was horrific.
the problem is there’s a lot of like, quiet homophobia in the fandom of the vein of “be grateful you even got a gay couple what are you complaining about”, plus bonus points of biphobia from the lgbt community “jester is straight” (despite no confirmation of this at the time) and “it’s lesbophobic if you don’t ship by”, and double bonus for certain cast members making vague side swipes insinuating that beaujes shippers were toxic, which only gave the fandom a green light to bully anyone who openly shipped a non-approved ship.
genuinely speaking, the death of the beaujes fandom was the swiftest and most brutal extinction of a ship i’ve ever seen in media. the tag essentially vanished overnight because of the way it’d been treated, and even now people don’t talk about it as much publicly because they don’t want to invite the drama of it.

Negativity in the SU/F Fandom
I feel like the best way to begin my cringe vent blog is to drive away as many people who would take issue with my opinions as possible, so way too long meta/fandom post let’s go.
Something I became increasingly aware of when I started to look into the Steven Universe community online several years ago was the sheer amount of negativity within the fandom.
What I saw included fans frustrated with long hiatuses and complaining about ‘filler’ townie episodes, desperate to get back to action-y space stuff, when – if you look at it – that wasn’t really the show’s focus, especially after Season 1A.
I saw people selecting freeze-frames and isolated shots of characters and spewing conspiracies about how the show had either had its budget cut or the board artists were bad/being lazy for going ‘off-model’.
I saw homophobes trying to downplay the explicitly queer elements – to the point of ‘gals pals’-ing Ruby and Sapphire, who at the time were seen by a lot of people as pushing the envelope with regard to visible queer rep in kids’ media.
Later in the show’s run, I saw people obsessively insisting that the crew were fascist apologizers, when the real problem was that they themselves had misread the Diamonds as allegorical fascists, and were angry at them being treated as complex characters with some sympathetic traits, rather than as evil obstacles to be knocked down and destroyed.
And by now everybody and their grandma knows about the video. Y’know. That one.
A lot of people seemed to be utterly, unreasonably enraged at the show just because it had the audacity to exist.
The term ‘toxic’ – like ‘problematic’ – is overused online to the point that its meaning has been kind of diluted, but think that calling this type of all-encompassing negativity ‘toxic’ is accurate.
Looking at the fandom after the original show ended, it seems like a lot of these people – SU Crits – lost their steam and vanished off to go bother people in other fandoms. Personally speaking, I saw a lot less of this kind of mindless bashing of SU in the lead-up to the Movie and during/after Future airing.
However, the impression these people made lingers on.
I think it’s fair to say that Steven Universe Future – particularly its second half – is divisive. A lot of people did not like the direction that it took. Full disclosure, I am one of those people.
I’m not going to pretend there wasn’t some of the toxic SU-critical mindset going around, but of all of the people I knew who disliked Future, none of them were like that. They had reasonable takes, and listened to and engaged with opinions that were contrary to theirs. Often, they avoided being ‘too’ negative to spare others’ feelings. I myself have avoided being publicly critical of Future specifically because I’m afraid of alienating or hurting people who like it.
What I’m trying to say here is that while the level of toxic negativity in the SU fandom tapered off around the Movie and Future, the response to that negativity remained. To me, it feels like a lot of the people who loved the original show and were active in the fandom while it was airing – who had experienced the worst of the SU Crit trolling – have become so used to engaging with criticisms made in bad faith that any and all negativity directed towards the show feels like an attack.
I’ve seen people who screencap smear frames and point out funny proportions/facial expressions – not to accuse the artists and animators of laziness, but just to say ‘ha, this frame is funny!’ – get condescended to and told they don’t know how animation works.
I’ve seen gatekeeping; people being told that they just ‘don’t get it’ or have a right to comment on the show’s portrayal of mental illness because they’ve never experienced it themselves (which is... a hell of a thing to assume about a stranger on the internet).
And I have been told explicitly in private circles that my opinion about the show – its characters and themes – was not wanted unless it was positive.
Essentially, what I’ve seen since Future’s second half began to air, and in the several months since it ended, is people who have any issue at all with the show having their opinions equated to those of the SU Crits, and being lumped in with them.
People who love the show are so used to having to defend it at literally every turn that they shut down and disregard any and all negativity. I sympathise with that because I was there too and it does suck to have something you like picked apart and bashed, but it’s also gone way too far in the other direction.
It is my opinion that this stifling ‘all positivity all the time, no negativity allowed’ atmosphere is why the SU fandom has dwindled away so quickly; people like me, who feel they cannot express genuine opinions about (let’s remind ourselves) a fucking cartoon made for children without being shunned by people they consider friends, have largely decided that the best - and easiest - thing to do is keep quiet and dip out.
If, in the first couple months after Future ended, you noticed a lot of people who had been very intensely into SU just stop talking about it and hopping over to She-Ra or Owl House or whatever else, well… I honestly believe that might be the reason why.
I wanted to get all of this off of my chest because these thoughts have been rattling around my brain for months now, and I’m kind of sick of not talking openly about it.
The amount of toxic negativity people had to deal with during the run of this show was nothing normal. A lot of it was motivated by misogyny, homophobia and a basic misunderstanding of what the story of the show was meant to be about. There is no getting away from that.
However, that does not mean that any and all criticism of the show comes from that same, malicious place. Some of us really loved it, but just disliked the direction the epilogue series happened to take.
The derogation of any opinions that don’t amount to universal praise is, I would argue, just as toxic and damaging to the fandom as the people defaming the show and trolling fans who enjoyed it.
Not wanting to engage with negativity is fine, but don’t shun people for it. I’m not talking about the trolls here; I’m talking about other fans whose opinions aren’t as wholly positive as yours. Pushing us out and disregarding our opinions because you disagree is unacceptable.
Steven Universe is over. The fandom seems like it won’t last that much longer either, so it’s too late to do much about it now. So instead I want to ask that, in future fandoms you find yourself in... don’t do this.

I feel pretty much the same about this negative perception on SU being popular. I do feel like the discourses and drama that happened, especially the 2015 incident, played a part in that in a big way even though at the same time i feel it's not entirely the show's nor Rebecca's fault those happened since that is unfair but it does seems people see SU in a unique way when it comes to the negative that people probably don't care
Well, yeah, i kinda agree on that. Some fans on this website were treating Zami070 like she was a dictator over her drawing style. But that's what happens when you lack zero awareness and don't reflect on your actions. For a show that was trying to teach "love and tolerance", many fans seemed to completely ignore these lessons and used it to push their own agenda:Ships, headcanons, bullying and harassing...
It's not suprising there was so much discourse when the episode "Bismuth" came out because some fans had the same type of mob mentality that Bismuth had. The difference was that at least with Bismuth you could understand why she acted the way she did. These people? There was almost no explanation. So, its no wonder why they missed the point of the episode and got angry when they were proved wrong.
It's not SU's fault or Rebecca Sugar's fault that for a long time this fanbase was considered one of the worst cartoon fandoms. She tried to stop it many times but the infighting and bullying went on and on.
As for the negative perception that Steven universe has: Many people were ready to tear down this show apart before it started airing back in 2013. I don't know if you haven't read Introvertceleste posts about Crewniverse members talking that there were already people complaining about Garnet's design and how she's was "an awful role model" or Steven being a "straight white male" despite being different from your classic stereotype and sometimes acting as a trans metaphor (see Diamond's days arc).
For a few years the series was well- received. Animation fans and reviewers liked Steven universe a lot. Then in 2016-2017, a few videos rants on youtube started to pop up. Some of them would get tons of views. This made other youtubers say "Hey, let's do this thing, it's going to gives us hundred thousands of views" and that's how SU hate train started.
SU youtube rants start getting recommended, each one more spreading false rumors and more missinformation than the last because they were desperate to "destroy" a children cartoon.
Then you have the "Steven universe critical" thing that while they started pointing some issues the show had over time it developed into nitpicking, harassment to other fans and writers over ships and right down making up bullsh*t to make SU or the creators look bad.
They started calling Rebecca Sugar every name under the sun and making look like she was the next Hitler. The funny thing is that Rebecca was actually nicer than most of these so called "SU critical" and probably she didn't have any idea that they existed in first place.
She didn't encouraged harassing, she didn't say that SU was only "for lesbians and women" (in fact she created this show for a boy demographic but those who wanted to gatekeep the show seemed to forget about that).
As why this happened i can think of two reasons:
1)Cartoon Network's horrible schedule: The haituses of SU were ridiculous. We only got 3 or 4 episodes every 6 months. This made fans become more and more frustrated or many just dropped the series.
2) The purity culture that this website has: It's pretty common for cartoon tumblr to put on a pedestal shows that have representation but in the moment it does something wrong, everyone stars hating on the show. It's always the same thing. I think the exception to this rule is Kipo and the Age of wonderbeasts as it didn't get very popular.
I swear, just wait half an year and people are going to start hating on The owl house which is only on its first season And calling the creators horrible things. Right now its happening the same thing that happened with RS and Noelle: She's being treated like a god and the moment she says or does something wrong, bang! She gets cancelled. That's how it works.
The issue is that creators that are LGBT and minorities often get more hate for putting representation on their shows than those who don't. Many are afraid of writing their own stories out of fear of being harassed and acussed of transphobia and homophobia. It's counterproductive and very bigoted.
The most frustrating thing about this for me is when i see cartoons fans putting SU on the same level as Voltron. You know? The show that did a "Bury your gays trope" by killing one of the few gays characters? All this while Steven universe being the show that really cared about putting LGBT couples in first place. And this is something that many cartoon fans fail to undestand: No, it wasn't She-ra 2018, Kipo, The owl house or Adventure time that started all this. It was Steven universe, yet they ignore its cultural impact most of the time. It's very frustrating.

I’m sorry for asking but I cannot seem to find any answers. I see a lot of stray anti posts complaining about hazbin hotel, and I can’t for the life of me understand them because I haven’t seen the show. I read a summary of the plot, but perhaps you could explain better. What is it and why do so many hate it (and why have I seen no fewer than 4 unique posts claiming it’s “what happens when you let billdip shippers make things”?)
Now, I was never a billdip shipper, but I suppose I can see the, like, similarity in vibes between Alastor (a demonic radio host with untold evil powers and who speaks in a 1930s radio jockey voice), and Bill.
And since antishippers hate Bill and they also hate Vivienne Medrano, the attempt to compare “billdip” to an entire original cartoon property is, I guess, a logical connection for them.
But let me be clear: there’s absolutely fuck or all that can be said to parallel the popular interpretation of billdip, in no small part because there no Dipper character, and in much larger part because of Alastor extremely rejects all romantic, sexual and even platonic advances.
Antishippers hate Hazbin Hotel because they hate the woman who came up with and spearheaded the project. They loathe Vivienne Medrano for being a successful independent artist capitalizing on the desperate need in the general viewing public for the bright colors, musical numbers, and zany antics that only animation can provide, but without the stifling restrictions of being targetted towards children. Most “adult” animation is focused on being drab or viscerally disgusting as a form of schadenfreude humour. And while children’s animation certainly fills that bright and zany niche, because it is obligated to adhere to the morality of various broadcasters, it’s often very suffocated in what it can or cannot do or say.
The aesthetic that HH/HB has created is clearly a callback to two major styles of animation: the adult-aimed slapstick of early Warner Brothers, and the long-and-lanky exaggerated flailing limbs that were popular as a design choice in low budgets (TV, off-brand film) and fandom animation in the late 2000s.
Since this style of animation is also associated heavily with fandom’s last big burst of creative and sexual freedom before the whole “no boundaries, no barriers, the search algorithms can and will put porn on every child’s dashboard” disasters of 2013-2015, some people are naturally off-put by it, because it reminds them of the time a bunch of corporate overlords decided that they should destroy their own platforms. For whatever reason (it’s the capitalism, probably), people blame individual artists for this trash fire rather than the platform holders that purposefully destroyed organization and boundaries between groups in a desperate bid for ad revenue.
Antishippers have a deep-seated reflex reaction towards hating that art style. You can see it in the hatred of HH/HB, but also in the hatred of things like, “cringey once-ler fans” and of “people who draw all the homestuck like twinks,” and "people who draw Pearl like a man” and all kinds of other places.
Additionally, Vivienne Medrano was at the centre of a few other antishipper fiascos, because her previous projects involved what they call a “pedophilic student-teacher relationship between a child and an adult.” Of course, in truth, the relationship in question is between an 18 year old student and her 19 year old student-tutor, but when have anti-shippers let facts get in their way.
Likewise, she made a living for a while taking commissions for (SFW) furry art work, and has always had a very positive relationship with the furry community (despite not being a furry herself). People upset by her success as an artist are also quick to say that she has sex with animals, “like all furries do,” because as we all know, calling queer artists sexual cirminals is Good Praxis that has Never Caused Harm /sarcasm.
In effect, Vivienne Medrano is a perfect storm of things anti-shippers hate: successful queer creators who refuse to assimilate to heteronormativity; successful creators of color who refuse to assimilate to white respectability; unrepentantly proud of her art; unafraid to engage with sexual themes in a fun rather than puritanical and hateful way; popular in the late 2000s/early 2010s; an ascended fan who was able to turn her fandom credentials into a successful professional project.
Their hatred for all of these facts about her are presented in a way that lets them feel good about lashing out at someone they dislike/are envious of. Namely, by saying that her work is an act of sexual, racial, or gendered violence, rather than, you know, fictional and fun.
HH/HB is not somehow a perfect piece of art. I have made my own discomfort with facets of it very clear. And there are flaws other than my wariness of rehabilitation themes.
Some of the sound design is overwhelming, with a few scenes bordering Johnny Test levels of excessive sound effects; in some cases the editing has clipped too much quiet-space between the presentation of a joke and its punchline; those traits combined with the lack of closed captioning can make the show very hard to process for someone like me who has difficulty with speech.
The immense budgetary constraints of the animation can sometimes be seen in framerate dips or in peculiar background details. Zoomed out shots of the cast as an ensemble are particularly identifiable as places where what would have been filler art in a higher budget production were ultimately left in because there wasn’t time or money to replace them.
The show is extremely upfront about sexuality and especially queer and professional sexuality, which can easily be off-putting to people. Conservative Fox News hosts’ extreme homophobia and violence are put on full display--for the purpose of mocking them for being enormous sacks of shit, but on display nonetheless--which can likewise be uncomfortable.
At one point you see the clearly exposed brain of a cartoon egg, which I won’t lie, makes me gag every time it happens, no matter how stylized and brief the shot. (Why! Does the egg! Have a brain inside it!!!)
But, unironically, HH/HB is the best series of adult animation I have seen in probably a decade or more. Maybe in my entire life. Prior to this, the only option for adult animation that isn’t rooted in sadism or grey-beige palettes was anime, and the design direction and acting of anime are ultimately very different than that of western slapstick.
Obviously, not every anti-shipper is so outraged because they envy the success of an artist other than themselves. But a great many are fuelled by envy, either that they aren’t the success story, or that someone they perceive as The Enemy is a success story.
This is far from the first time that anti-shippers have proudly taken the same side as anti-queer bigots and as open and avowed racists, who also hate the show (for being gay, for featuring an interracial relationship, etc). It won’t be the last. But, for all that their actions are often indistinguishable from the queerphobes and the white supremacists, their motivations are at least meaningfully distinct.

(This is so long I’m sorry but I had to rant cause honestly I’m scared )
I literally made a post the other day about how we have to welcome in new fans and treat them equally but truth be told? I’M. NOT. FUCKING. READY
Bitch bitch bitch I mean I’mma have to stand this kids hardcore shipping Luke x Annabeth ???? Or Luke x Thalia ???? SIS they’re SIBLINGS wth Annabeth realized it later on it changed there was an arc.
Like this fandom closed the discussion on Luke’s redemption arc and the way he is and his motives we agree we have opinions but we’re FINE. Are you telling me ma boy is gonna be played by some hot teen (he is older) and 12 y/o’s are gonna be biased and I’m gonna have to yell at them across a screen cause they’re gonna act like Luke is a saint !!!!??
THE SHIPS. FUCKFUCKFUCK. BoTL Percy spent worried about Nico and if it’s done properly we’re gonna have all that worry face first and no one’s gonna be able to ignore it like the AMOUNT OF PEOPLE who are gonna say that’s OTP. I mean SHIT.
I haven’t even been in the [internet] fandom for that long like how I’m I supposed to go against this people who were here before me I mean they LEFT but what arguments do I have !?!?
The amount of people who only read pjo and went BYE like I can’t bring HOO up in discussions wdym????? How I’m I supposed to talk development and change and character arcs and what would they do in certain situations if you’ve never heard of them ????
I’M NOT READY
Y’all wanna know something terrifying? The maze runner fandom. Because there’s so little creators out there who actually love it the way I do and so much of it is obsessed with Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Newt I haven’t been there since I finished the books I couldn’t stand it. And I can’t stand the fact that our Percy actor is gonna be good-looking and I’m TERRIFIED of the amount of people who are gonna be here for what the actors look like you can’t understand this.
I MEAN all them debates are coming back up I can’t do this. This is such a fantastic fandom (and I’m in many, trust me) like we’re all at peace there’s no arguments you can literally come by and just vibe.
OH FUCK ANOTHER THOUGHT. So since we’re getting official characters and stuff I swear if ONE IDIOT hates on viria’s or Livibis’ or Markiehh’s art (they’re the one’s at the top of my head) because it’s “inaccurate” or “far off” from what they look on screen they better watch the fuck out because they have no idea the fandom they’re messing with.
OH AND SHIT I know this has been brought up but the way we treat Nico??? All baby and soft and all that and how our fanon Nico is just so different from the actual canon kick-ass Nico, ya know? But we kinda understand how powerful Nico is but we still love him cause poor kid was 10 and then all of it happened and he was 13/14 (?) during tlo and the PTSD so we’re chill with that BUT. There’s the fact that our son is gay and god the amount of people who are gonna come in (cause there’s obviously gonna be foreshadowing) and be like “ooh gay baby look at him” that’s badly explained but I know you guys understand. And specially if we get to HoO and the horrors getting to ToA would be. Like we already have our fanon Nico but if someone DARES to even IMPLY that Nico can’t kill you with a thought the entire fandom know better and will prove them wrong. But the new fans what would they know.
You know what’s going to be fucking horrible ???? PARENTS. I mean UGHHHHHH. My parents only know I’m reading what I tell them I’m reading (“a book about Greek mythology”). Like I’m terrified of my mom picking up The Burning Maze sitting on my desk or any Cassandra Clare book cause the homophobia in this household is astronomical. (Don’t know how many of you will understand but the PANIC I went through reading the red scrolls of magic? God knows she would check every book I get form the library from the on) Back to the point sorry. But y’all pjo is mostly safe but Rick already talks about how parents complain about adding a Genderfluid character to a Norse mythology book (I mean Ma’am go educate yourself) and how his books “would be more successful without [gay] characters” ???? What if we get Kane Chronicles some asshole is gonna come up about Sadie being polyamorous, Alex and Magnus are gonna be a problem, Will and Nico, House of Hades is gonna make Karens riot because of one scene.
You can see how Disney treats Seblos (hsmtmts) compared to the other couples on the show. You can see how not even half of Andi Mack is actually on Disney+ (after getting brutally canceled) you can see how Diary of a Future President hasn’t been renewed when it’s reviews are 100% for both critics and public. How the Love, Simon series was removed (now on Hulu) because it wasn’t a good mix with “the family-friendly content on Disney+” (underage drinking + s*x are brought up in discussions but the show isn’t out yet and we have no idea). So pardon me for being scared of how this is going to be treated.
Back to the new fans. I’m gonna say the topic that’s the most brought up that causes discussions is Leo (?) Tbh I’m still lost on the Leo x Echo thing that everyone else seems to understand. Plus the hate on Caleo is probably the biggest issue in this fandom. (Which is like saying the biggest problem in a perfectly written essay are some barely noticeable erase-marks, but still). Anyways a fair amount of people dislike Leo for reasons I kinda comprehend. I know a kid and he’s the exact definition of Leo, (I’ll probably talk about this in an individual post) and people don’t like him, I know most of you would avoid him. I know he’s great but people just don’t seem to like him.
(wOw i’M sO gOOd aT sTaYInG oN tOpiC)
I don’t think I’m gonna be able to survive hate on characters that probably WILL come.
Solangelo is called rushed a lot and I would want to see this two fall for each other and Nico let down his walls and talk about his PTSD from Tartarus (which friendly reminder Percy saw for a few minutes the way Nico saw it the whole time and it was the worst part of his entire experience there). But I mean there WERE six months between BoO and ToA, I am pretty sad we didn’t get to see them.
oH JESUS follow-up on Nico earlier; the fetishization, or Apollo, or Will.
Ok... ha, this is fun....
OH WAIT NEW THOUGHT SJDJDJD On the topic of Luke’s redemption arc... BIANCA,, they better do my girl properly who thought she had stayed months at the Lotus Hotel babysitting her lil’ brother and then was put into a school where they were outcasts and she probably knows as much as Nico about mythomagic from his rants and she thought he was gonna be safe and she wanted freedom and be her own person so she joined the hunters. And as a fandom we’ve talked this out but what about the new fans, they better not try to act like she did anything wrong cause that’s just not-
OH AND no one better hate on Clarisse cause yeah she’s the minor antagonist but she’s a very well-written character who doesn’t change the way she is but is kinda less of an ass towards Percy. And she and Silena are good friends and she and Chris are dating and she is a human being with valid feelings. She was terrified for Chris in BoTL and cared for him and nurse him back to sanity and stayed with him. She throws Percy and Annabeth into the lake which so it’s prove she and Percy are more in the friendly banter I-won’t-admit-how-much-I-care-for-you-if-it-meant-my-life relationship. Then this doesn’t happpen until the last two books (seasons?) so we can’t actually go around saying it? In SoM we learn about how Ares treats her which is SO important so I guess S1 comes out and we sit here telling new fans “You’ll know next season” cause we can’t directly spoil it and then we’re like “You gotta wait for seasons 4 and 5” ugghhhhh this is too much.
Ok I’m done for now I’ll reblog this with any new terrifying thoughts when if they come.

That’s a mess. Let’s talk about it.
Ok, so I wasn’t going to talk about that but it kept me from writing so here we go.
I have seen many things in a span of a few days and I don’t know if I have to cry or laugh.
If you didn’t know the hashtag: sebastianstanisoverparty was trending on twitter. There are many reasons and we are going to get through all of them - or most of them, RATIONALLY.
1) His, presumed, gf posted a picture where she was dressed as, what she thought was, a geisha. She used the hashtag “Asian night” and called her friend and her “japanistas” (translation from spanish for Japanese women).
First, a little context: We are going to start from the beginning. A few weeks ago, some paparazzo took several pictures, illegally, of Sebastian Stan and a woman. I think in one of the pictures they were kissing each other.
I have to use the term illegally because yes, taking pictures of anyone without their consent, whether they are a celebrity or not, IS AGAINST THE LAW. And Sebastian would have never talked publicly about his relationship, seeing how some stans can be evil.
As you know, in every fandom, you’ll have some girls, feeling entitled to know every little detail of their fav’s life. We all know at least a few who put pressure on their fav artist to break up, or even sent death threats to their S/O.
Since we literally don’t know if they are together, sending Sebastian messages to alert him about his “maybe” gf is crossing a line. He doesn’t owe us no explanation on his private life, that we don’t know anything about. Also, they don’t even follow each other on IG, but whatever.
Plus keep in mind that the stan, because at this point it is not a fan, had to scroll down around hundreds pictures of Sebastian Stan’s presumed gf to find THIS one. I did my little maths. The woman is the type to post almost everyday. The picture was posted 2 years ago. That’s around 730 pictures.
730 PICTURES!!!
Who has the time for that? Even though they found a racist picture, which I don’t condone at all, would they have scrolled down till the last picture? And it made me wonder about the motives, also. A little stalkerish for me.
Furthermore, I have scrolled through the comment section of Sebastian and most comments were downright nasty. Some people joked about his depression and told him that because his career was over he should off himself. Other called him all types of names, joking about his body and his previous movies. There were also some who demanded an apology from him for his “gf”’s action. And that his silence was making him an “accomplice”.
But let’s focus on what started it all: When I tried to find who made the first comment, everyone replied: “an Asian fan was offended by the clothes.” Not a Japanese fan, but an Asian one. I found the formulation odd. I do know that Japan is in Asia, but the way it was said, we can easily argue that since kimonos are a part of the Japanese culture, only Japanese people can say if they are offended or not.
And when I went on Twitter, most people said their origins when they stated their opinions: Philippines, Japan, China etc. So it made me wonder why didn’t the fan do as well.
For reminder: Asia has 54 countries. So for the person to only say they are Asian doesn’t mean anything. They could be Russian or Middle Easterner etc.
Now, I have been on twitter and many Japanese people were complaining that, there again, non-japanase people were gatekeeping and deciding for them what was offensive or not. You can scroll on twitter and see for yourself. From what I gathered, they were mostly offended by the makeup but not the clothing.
If you are Japanese and you were offended, your feelings are totally valid. I’m in no way trying to speak over your voice or telling you that you shouldn’t be offended because others were not. I’m just telling what you can easily find on Twitter.
Some also, non-Japanese, were offended by the term “japanista”, but not for the reason you think. They thought it was a slur.
In conclusion, this was already a mess.
Then, some Asian people were offended by the hashtag “Asian night”, which was totally valid. I have to admit that I’ve never heard anyone say that, so it irked me when I read it.
The general consensus was that the “gf” was in the wrong, Sebastian wasn’t.
2) Sebastian blocked everyone who mentionned his “gf” and her racist post. He still hasn’t acknowledged the pb.
I have to repeat myself, but we, as a collective, don’t know if they even are together. So why would he talked about his FWB or fling racist past, if they are not even together. It doesn’t make sense.
Plus, most of the comments are still there. He blocked the one which were borderline hostile, which I totally understand on multiple levels.
If he’s not with her, their messages don’t make sense. And his stans played themselves. Because they stalked someone’s insta and tried to cancel their fav based on mostly assumptions, and now, he doesn’t want to acknowledge the situation that THEY created. Because he never said he was in a relationship in the first place, and if his stans really respected him, they would have harassed his “gf” and not him.
3) He went to Ibiza during a pandemic, wore no masks and partied all night long. He is going to contaminate people.
Let’s do a 360: *sigh*
He is dumb. And he may not contaminate people, because he was tested before taking the plane, but he still could. No excuses.
4) His ex was racist. Some of his old friends were also racist (he is not friend with them) = Sebastian Stan is racist.
So, I’m about to be real. I had friends who ended up being homophobic, and I didn’t know. They never really talked about homosexuality. They may have joked once about it, but it never occured to me that they were REALLY homophobic.
I have heard many stories of people being in relationships (black women/white men) and it’s years in the relationship that they found out that their husband/bf was racist, because he voted for Trump or every time the BLM movement was mentionned they made some racist remarks.
Racism/Homophobia and any bigotry is not always outright. They don’t always come up to you and say “kill the niggers” or “kill the f-word”, no. Most of the time these are microagressions, that even for us, Black people, can seem innocent but after a few years of hearing them you finally question it.
The entire society is based on racism and those microagressions. You were probably taught to say things that are not normal. I, personally, was taught some expressions and jokes that seemed innocent, but when I made my research I was nauseous.
So, in conclusion, I don’t know. I’m not in his head and neither are you. So you shouldn’t create some rumors based on your own reality.
Because the same way you judge people, you are going to get judged.
