Hello! I would love to know more about Falin!! He's seems so cool! You're inspiring me to make my own patho oc lol
Hi! Thank you! Firstly! And secondly you should make a patho oc! (Fal is a self insert and not an oc however lol) but still I do encourage making a patho oc!! Also sorry in advance this is gonna be a long post :P
Falin would be the fourth healer (the psychologist) obviously prescribing lexipro isn’t gonna cure the plague which is where Falin’s twist comes in! He can reanimate the dead with his blood! If he has the blood to spill then he can cure an infected person (so long as they are dead and so long as they’ve been dead for less then two days. Any longer then that and he can’t do anything)
however During day 5 to day 10 he gets his period leading his exhaustion meter to go down much further, his dialogue that was once filled with only kindness get more snappy he gets frustrated easier and the hunger meter drops quicker, he has less blood to spare on those days so he can’t bring back any dead bounds and once those bounds are dead for longer then two days they are completely gone so it’s a situation of either Falin can bleed himself utterly dry or he can risk failing others, but should he bleeds himself too much he passes out (or he’ll just fucking die depending on how much blood loss he’s occurred already) but if he just passes out after regaining consciousness he’ll get a lecture from Daniil.
As for the reason he ends up in the town to begin with! he got a letter asking him to get a man with the last name Stamatin declared mentally sound so he may be executed for a murder which he’s not exactly fond of the idea of getting a man executed as Falin believes there’s better ways to handle the situation without immediately jumping to capital punishment. Yet he still takes it as he’s with the mindset of “I can look into it sure but I’d prefer if we can just institutionalized him and maybe not do any execution??” Important to note that Falin leaves for the town a day after Daniil leaves meaning he has no clue Falin is in the town at all until the morning of the second day.
But once falin gets off the train someone attempts to murder him however only succeeds in giving the psychologist a minor concussion (it’s Andrey it’s Andrey who tries to murder him and he will attempt to kill Falin many times during Falin’s route) Falin ends up waking up in a grave meeting Clara who claims that she’s his younger sister she tells him ‘we are both born from the same grave’ Falin is like yeah sure why not? I believe this weird child in this graveyard…why shouldn’t I? And then she drops on him “oh you can do miracles too btw” then immediately peace’s out and falin’s like….huh? What the hell does she mean? That’s how he learns about his miracle but he also just accepts that way too casually as well? He’s just chill with it…!
Some character relationships that are important are as follows
Clara! They are siblings (dubbed the miracle siblings by me but in canon it’s a thing they’re called in a mocking manner.) now how exactly…is that possible? Ehhh? Neither seems to question it nor do they earnestly care about it. They just are siblings and Falin is quick to completely accept her. She gets scared that her twin will cause seeds of distrust to sprout but Falin never doubts her and reassures her that he’d never hate her especially not for things that aren’t her doing. Clara’s also the only character Falin never snaps at all his dialogue towards her is empathic and supportive, they don’t have a dysfunctional sibling dynamic they both genuinely care about eachother at the most Falin can jokingly call her an annoying brat but that’s really it?
Daniil! They are married! They met in university falin hears a rumor about someone who finds to defeat death and feels drawn to seek him out…almost like something in Falin’s blood that draws him to death like a wolf looking for a lamb. But their relationship starts off as casual collaboration on projects for shared classes then expends to having deeper conversations about death and their childhoods. then becoming Daniil inviting him out to bars and dinners….then something happens once when they’ve both had a fair share of wine leading to a relationship blooming in its wake. They get married in secret during their third year of university, they both believe they have hidden it well and nobody knows….everyone knows they both act far too obvious about it and both just keep drawing attention to the rings on their respective ring finger….they believe they were slick…they absolutely were not!!
their relationship is very stable and loving overall even if both are very work focused they will always find some time for the other even if it’s something as minor as just sitting in silence, and in the later days of the game their relationship is the only thing keeping the other stable as the common thought is “I need to keep him alive…I will die for him if needed” they absolutely fight over petty things though they love eachother but will argue over things that seems utterly nonsensical to anyone who isn’t them. It’s also implied in dialogue Falin intends to convince Daniil to let them take in Clara should all three survive that is.
Yulia! They were friends in childhood they were both the only queer people in an all girls school so of course they clicked! It’s implied she help Falin get more masculine clothes and cut his hair for him in their youth, however they lose contact after university not out a sense of bitterness it’s just they grew up they grew apart! It’s neither fault…that’s just growing up. They do however reconnect during the events of the game! And Falin tries to comfort her after what happens on day 7….
Andrey….they are fighting eachother with steel chairs he is trying to kill Fal every other day! Someone please stop this man! Someone please help Falin!
Block! He has a one sided crush on Falin and falin is just too tired to care he just couldn’t care less he does tell him a few times that he only respects him due to his (Falin’s) father saying that he believes he’s a noble man (Falin does not share this sentiment.)
Okay now onto some fun fal facts!
he actually comes to town with a handgun because his father being a military man (or at least before the events of the main story he was) insisted falin always have some form of protection as “This world isn’t kind to people such as yourself…it’ll do you good to be a good shot” but don’t worry falin stills tells anyone who will offer him a gun that “No I don’t have one of those could you give me one please?” He ends day 12 with far too many what does he use these for? Nothing he just wants to collect them like some kind of raccoon looking for shiny objects.
Falin’s name isn’t pronounced the way it’s spelled it’s actually pronounced Phelan and the only people who correctly pronounced his name ends up being Daniil and Clara, however Clara mostly calls him Fae and Daniil mostly opts to call Falin as mae vita or darling. The only person who actually refer to Falin explicitly by name are Yulia and Anna. Everyone else tends to just call him the psychologist or Dr.Dankovsky
During one of the latter days falin will wake up to learn that he’s no longer allowed in the infected district when he asks why this is he’ll get the answer of “Bachelor dankovsky has had you banned from going into this district.” Which is bad for falin so now he has to met with block to get a new form of clearance. Which this would involve either proving to block that he can reanimate the dead or using good ‘ol emotional manipulation! To convince him to pretty please let Falin have permission again?. In the bachelor route this would be a quest where Daniil goes to get Falin’s access to infected districts taken away. He does it out of love and concern not out of malicious however maybe he should have discussed the idea with Falin first?
his character centers around a cycle of blood that ends in creation….(wonder what that’s a metaphor for) His miracle is to reanimate with his own blood! His blood is what gives life! He sacrifices his body’s resources to give life! He gives his blood to allow for a new beginning a rebirth of another’s life it’ll only take half his blood….all the strain…but it’s worth! That’s what everyone tells him! Don’t mind the pain! It’s worth it
He really wants to help everyone he comes across he hasn’t become jaded with his job if anything he is far too empathetic towards people often leading him to be pulled into rabbit holes in order to help the sick. He often acts before thinking and has difficulties asking for help meaning issues that could easily be solved linge for days since he can’t properly advocate for himself, cruel irony right? He helps others so often yet can never seek the same help. However he is a good listener and offers advice/ solutions to others when he can even if it causes him issues later on, Falin unfortunately has a martyr syndrome afterall someone must be willing to sacrifice themself to help others and it has to be Falin nobody else is allowed.
falin loves seals someone please let the poor psychologist hug a seal
Falin is a smoker! And it’s mentioned he smells of smoke by multiple people. he also smells of a rather expensive floral perfume but by the end of his route he mostly smells of blood and cigarettes….yuck
Falin has bpd and it absolutely shows! Please be patient with him! He doesn’t mean to split on the people he cares about that’s just the way his brain protects itself, he doesn’t like viewing people solely as good or bad yet that’s how his brain works, he hates always being paranoid over personal relationships hates the fear that one poorly phrased sentence will lead to utter hatred just give him some gentle reassurance that he’s still cared about it’s okay. (And if one is a certain bachelor feel free to gently kiss his forehead just to hammer in the message he’s loved)
Falin has really shaky hands so Daniil has to help him take out his piercings whenever he needs to clean the jewelry, he doesn’t mind helping Falin especially since he knows Falin has difficulty asking for help to begin with.
One last Falin thing is post canon he would attempt to introduce Clara to holidays! Since he (rightfully) assumes she hasn’t really celebrated any before so he makes them a big spectacle for her! He wants her to have some positive memories especially after those nightmarish 12 days….she deserves to just be a kid and Falin will try his hardest to make sure she gets the childhood he didn’t.
