Time crisis
Clockwork looked sick, this was the first time Danny had witnessed something like this so he couldn't help but feel concerned for his mentor. However, no matter how many times he asked what was going on, the Ancient refused to answer.
The halfa was taking care of him and finally Clockwork revealed that he was under attack. Danny raised an eyebrow in confusion, he saw no one in Clock Tower and the Observants were not around, seeing his confusion the Master of Time explained himself more clearly.
Clockwork had multiple bodies, distributed in different dimensions. And while they didn't follow the same rules, their job was the same, "preserve the timelines". One of his other bodies must have sensed his timeline being altered multiple times and awoke from its rest to repair the error.
Someone must not have been happy about that, if the damage Clockwork was receiving was anything to go by. The Ancient had no doubt that if they kept attacking him they would cause him further damage, which would be a big problem for the timelines.
The reason he didn't want to tell the halfa that was because he knew Danny would want to help, but not all of his "parts" were good, nor did they have the same methods to "repair" and he didn't want to show the boy a bad part of himself. Although he doubted his other "self" would attack young Daniel, seeing how fond he was of him.
Danny of course, offered to solve the problem. Knowing the boy was stubborn, Clockwork sighed in resignation and opened a portal to the DC Universe, where the Justice League was facing Kronos, Danny stepped through the portal immediately and started running to the battlefield.
Wonder Woman was gritting her teeth in fury as she faced Kronos, who was scowling in annoyance, his gaze seemed to be fixed on the speedster for some reason; half of the League were injured but holding their ground, and John Constantine had almost finished preparing a spell to destroy the titan once and for all. He opened his mouth to tell the Titan it was his end when a teenage boy ran past him.
Danny, who had no idea what was going on, stood in front of Kronos not knowing what to say. He didn't quite know how to fix the situation. Kronos looked at him in confusion as John choked as he noticed the boy in the path of his spell.
"Fate is not inevitable" the halfa told the Titan decisively. While he had been a hero and understood why the people around him would want to "stop" the other Clocky, he didn't want to see his mentor die (even if this was some sort of clone? Danny didn't quite understand), he was selfish, and he knew the other Clocky had his reasons. He looked at the wounded on the battlefield and took a deep breath before looking at the Titan again.
"Come home with me and we'll find another way to solve it" Danny offered, ignoring the heroes glaring at him. Kronos was still silent, he knew he could kill the boy in seconds but something in him protested at the idea.
Danny wondered if he could lock the being in front of him in a Fenton thermos.
#dpxdc#Clockwork is Kronos#but at the same time he's not#Clockwork divided himself to control the problematic dimensions#and some of his clones developed a personality on their own#Since Clockwork doesn't care about morals as long as the timeline is fixed that was okay for him#Technically all the situation is Flash's fault#He traveled too many times and played with the timelines#that woke up Kronos#since that dimension fate was to be destroyed he kinda decided to destroy it himself#dp x dc#dc x dp#John Constantine almost destroyed the time on the DC dimension#JL attacks damaged Clockwork directly#Constantine didn't finish his attack because of Danny#Danny doesn't care about all that's happening#he just want to help Clockwork#he wonders if that's a Dan situation and if he need a Fenton thermos#Kronos isn't going to attack Danny#he like him unconsciously

Ok so, my thoughts on the VR ending and VR overall as the 6th entry.
Also because most of my thoughts aren't...complimentary im editing the names so they dont appear in the general tag. This also got LONG so readmore.
The Good:
- A//i's character still managed to be the one thing that saves VR as a show for me. Even with all the weird...contradictory plot issues, A//i still manages to be a compelling character who brings up the question of the right to live. I actually do like how he made it so itd be an ultimatum that he loses in either way, even if the ending kinda ruins the weight behind the action (which I will get to in a bit).
The meh:
-the ending was left somewhat open to interpretation which for a show as...empty as this was works out but honestly it was so vague as to A//is fate is that it may as well not exist.
The Bad:
-The main conflict behind the entire show is...simulations. No joke. Every conflict in the show can be traced back to someone doing a simulation and deciding to lose it. Even if they gave the (rather stupid) explanation that AI experience simulations like actual life (which btw the first villain wasnt an AI so this reason doesnt work), the fact that Yu//sa//ku took a bullet for one of A//is robot bodies that he literally has millions of is...just stupid and there solely for the "uwu drama".
-They actually killed A//i off but wait hes actually alive, so like the final duel literally had no purpose aside from...drama??? The episode is called Compromise and yet A//i had to lose just to keep Yu//sa///kus win streak and theres no compromise whatsoever. Yu//sa//ku litetally destroys the CompromA.I.se card so its just, no comrpomise in any way.
-This....wasn't a happy ending??? I have no idea why both the show and the fanbase frame this as a happy ending bc think about it in context: A//i pretty much loses everything, so does Yu//sa//ku who just isolated himself from everyone else for 3 months in order to comb the network for whatever remnants of A//i exist.
- So many of the supporting characters are just...there. Like, there is no side/supporting character who actually has a character arc in this show. Lets go through the list: Ao//i is pretty much the same character as when she started and goes through 2 unnecessary costume changes for a character growth that isnt there because she has literally ONE victory against an opponent that was stated multiple times to be weak and faulty and have her lose and tortured multiple times for no reason whatsoever, G//o had this weird deterioration that may have lead to something but ultimately didn't, Ak//ira is pretty much the same, J//in has ALL HIS TRAUMA ERASED SO THERES THAT, literally the only side characters who have some sembalnce of an arc are Sho//ichi (the best one anyways) from his "betrayal" in S2, and E//ma with her reconciliation with her brother. Outside of that, nothing. Yu//sa//ku, Re//volv//er and Ho//mu//ra are pretty much the only characters with an arc and even then they're not too solid? Which brings me to-
- Yu//sa//ku has been so wildly ooc since the end of S1. Ive seen so many say that his enphasis on bonds and friendship are character growth but actually looking at the sequence of events he suddenly just like. changes completely around his first duel with Ea//rth. Plus, the message of "revenge is good" was always so weird? Like, he got his revenge so all his trauma is ok now and never brought up or explored again aside from within the first 20 episodes. Theres nothing about it after that and its never built upon. The whole point of a revenge arc is to show that its BAD and yet he starts preaching that revenge is wrong AFTER he successfully gets revenge??? And even then its not exactly a revenge as it is more lashing out since it was Ko//ga//mi who was behind it all. Yu//sa/ku was definitely at his strongest characterization in S1 where we see how badly the Lo//st Incid//ent hurt him but S1 had its own share of problems that led into S2 and so many random plot threads that never went anywhere (such as the Anot//her Incid//ents, the Cy//berse deck being irl despite that A//i didnt have a physical body before then, The Bl//ue Mai//den meetup that was repeated by Nao//ki like 10 times in S2 which seemed to be leading up to something but never did, and the fact that theres 4 recap episodes in S1 already spelled some early problems). So much of the supporting cast function to just say "he turned this whole situation around...with ONE card..." i kid you not watch back every Yu//sa//ku duel I GUARANTEE you'll see someone saying hes a great duelist and serve only that purpose. ALSO THE END OF THE SHOW IS JUST MORE DRAMA?? They make him suffer for no reason other than that they can??? What purpose does his suffering at the end serve aside from just "uwu...poor baby..."???
-Re//volv//er is not a good rival. At all. He's so incredibly bland because much like Yu//sa//ku he was at his strongest characterization in S1 where he actually had some solid motivation in continuing his fathers work and being unable to accept that his dad was evil, yet most of that just flies out the window with all the collateral he's willing to inflict with the K//O//H?? All his character amounts too post S1 is "yeah i told you robots are evil and YOU didnt believe me". The most we got of him growing out of this mindset was calling A//i by his name exactly one time and nothing ever again. Also the fact that in the end we see him and his crew working for S//O//L despite the fact that they were gonna turn themselves in for their crimes just. leaves a rotten taste in my mouth. hes not a good rival at all. All he proves to me is that a good design can get anyone to like a character.
- Ho//mu//ra is...there. I literally cant say anything about him because he absolutely has the strongest motivations of the three but then the show jumps through hoops to push him to the back of the other two. He also has a bunch of early victories I do feel are undeserved (ESPECIALLY the A//oi duel that one pissed me off so much). Also the fact that the show just made him Yu//sa//kus friend immediately whereas it took Sho//ichi several months to get Yu//sa//ku to warm up to him just had me :/.
-The speed duels were a cool concept but they just became these huge cheat fests? Seriously Play//Maker uses StAccess literally every speed duel to pull out a new monster from whatever plot holes the writers need to patch up. I am not kidding. You can go back to every single speed duel Yu//sa//ku was in and youll see this. Skills just werent a good mechanic because when a protag pulls a new card its supposed to be representative of some growth/characterization but he stays the same pretty much throughout the entire show up until S2 where he wildly just switches personality. Plus the fact that Que//en could literally use a skill whenever just shows that it was cheating???
- The villains were overall lackluster. Boh//man was the best because Re//volv//er is just flat whereas A//i struck me more as an anti hero. And again: simulations are the enemy. Light//ning ran one and decided to go ham. Kog//ami ran one and decided to go ham. A//i ran one and decided to go ham. The conflicts are all the same and it just makes things happen rather than following a consistent plot thread? I will say that Boh//mans characterization of a hive mind to become perfect does strike my tastes but thats more my personal preference in villains rather than any merit he has.
- This is a bit of a personal pet peeve but I've seen some of the praise to this show about being the "darkest Y//G//O to date so therefore its good" and im just...no? Edge does not make a good show and just because they lightly focused on the tragedy in Yu//sa//kus life (and it IS lightly because its barely touched upon after mid S1) most of the stuff that happens in this show is pretty tame in comparison? The most that happened here was an attempted global hack of everyones minds from S2 and destroying the internet in S1, with a few references to the torture that happened during the Lo//st incid//ent. To compare: the previous series had this huge interdimensional war that, even if they could reverse the carding of people (which makes Den//nis' attempted suicide even more tragic), ended with an entire dimensions full of brainwashed soldier children, a dimension with huge class inequality that was still being heavily worked upon since there were canonically slaves, and a dimension that was savaged by a genocide and total global destruction. Hell, the series before that had a huge war where the arc actually did focus on the tragedys the characters faced and held consequence (even if they pulled a dbz revive everyone at the end). And as far back into the very first series there were even more graphic depictions of war and death? Idk i feel like people are overplaying the edge here just to find a way to complement this show.
Overall:
I'm...genuinely dissappointed. VR really had so many strong starting points but it all just fell apart at execution. Really the only reason I even bothered to watch it as kong as I did was because Im a longtime fan of the series and wanted to give it a chance rather than jump on whatever love/hate train the show has. Its been rated poorly on the JP side and most of the approval is a vocal minority. Just to be clear: this isnt me bashing the show, my opinions are mine and you can agree or disagree to any capacity, and even if a show isnt well written you can still find a reason to enjoy it despite the flaws.
But if Im being perfectly honest? I do not like this show. It's rushed, choppy, has no consistent or clear plot threads, most of the genuinely interesting characters are wasted for the protagonist to look better and he never really does because he ALSO has an interesting idea behind him but it never goes anywhere. It started strong but ended so poorly. Id be angry but im more dissappointed because Ive watched this show from day 1 and wanted to see the good things it has rather than focus on the negatibes but. yeah. This show really had potential and yet it just fell flat.

thinking about arjuna alter sends me onto a whole different dimension of depressed.
when i first saw him, i was really interested in the kind of character he was and the kind of character he would/could be, as most people were. it was theorized a while back that arjuna alter was “krishna,” but nobody truly knew for sure because there was no information about lostbelt 4 at the time. but now there is! about time.
but the thing is like... okay, so some really quick history about my selfshipping experience, which kind of matters and is kind of relevant to why i feel the way i do.
i started selfshipping with karna back in the summer of 2018 (around the time i watched fate/apocrypha), and discovered arjuna through karna (because they’re related and all that; a true sibling rivalry). i wasn’t super interested in arjuna but i figured since i’d be selfshipping with karna, that it would be important to see what kind of relationships he has (this is something i do with any character i plan to selfship with because honestly? i think i’m in too deep).
when i started reading the wiki, i started crying BUT FIGURATIVELY. figuratively. i was in sooo much denial because reading arjuna’s wiki page was like reading my own biography and it HUUURT. i don’t know how they did it, but they did, and it was over for me from then on.
the mood of 2018-
i was already planning out the arjuna/eren relationship halfway through the wiki page, because it was something i could easily do. two characters that have major identity crises with their given roles cope through each other, and fulfill each other’s desires — or something like that, you know? and then the normal procedure of “make a bunch of long analyses posts about the relationship and how they fit each other ~so well~, toss in some doodles, don’t forget the memes-”
but then after a while, i fell out of love. well, not necessarily, but i stopped having romantic feelings for arjuna and karna. it was actually kind of scary? and i complained about it a lot, because i was genuinely terrified/paranoid that i would lose the two of them, despite just how much they meant to me. i invested a lot of time into my selfships with the both of them, and i had a lot of emotions for the both of them. the thing is, usually, once i drop/lose feelings for a fave, they’re gone completely. for the followers who stuck around long enough, my masterlist was a lot longer when i first started this blog compared to now. anybody remember kakei shun from eyeshield 21? gertrude from farethere city?
after some time, i began to accept them more as my “favorite characters” rather than “my boyfriends whom i love very much.” i still get excited when i see nice art of them! but there wasn’t much besides that feeling of “oh! it’s them! the boys!”
but then lostbelt 4 was finally released, and new characters along with designs came out to the public. and i cried, figuratively. when i saw super⭐karna (there’s a star because everybody puts it there for whatever reason) and arjuna alter, the animation updates... i thought to myself, “oh, it’s over for me, isn’t it? i’m going back to my roots, aren’t i?” spoiler: i was.
of course, i was excited along with everybody else for lostbelt 4! but as i looked at the existing refs of arjuna alter, and thought about him a little bit, i actually got. sad? and almost cried, but literally this time. tears were forming and everything. looking at him actually made me feel guilty, for a dumb reason which i’ll get into. when i read about how killing karna just destroyed him inside, and listened to how he just had... no emotions, compared to his “original” self, i was just. depressed.
i guess it felt like i didn’t do enough for him? maybe if i actually stayed and helped him, then maybe he wouldn’t have had to undergo this change in the first place. krishna wouldn’t have gone to take the front, and arjuna would be okay. (it’s not that visible but if you take a look at the wip part on this post, you noticed that eren’s crying because they failed kinda thing). and this is actually a STUPID thought, because it’s been speculated that he would get an alter (for a couple-ish years, i think), and when arjuna alter was first released without a name, people already suspected that it would be arjuna alter. it was apart of his story and, almost destiny as cheesy as it sounds, to get an altered version.
i can’t even interact with this man nor his story, yet i still feel guilty over the fact that i “failed” to “save” him. WHICH, is a super unreasonable thought, and i can’t go “into” his story to [anime protagonist voice] do what i must do. FOR ONE THING, i want CONTEXT for arjuna alter. i want to study his dialogue and find connections to his vanilla self, and i want to know if it was before or after the death of karna that he became “altered” this way. it’s likely that he was, but it’s also possible that the duties as a prince and his insecurities with himself became to overbearing, which allowed krishna to “take over” his body. but the “outcome/result” of arjuna alter is that: he lacks any... emotions, you could say. he’s not completely emotionless, but it’s very obvious that he’s different from arjuna who was more expressive with his emotions; just closed off and purposefully distant. arjuna alter lacks that, from what i can tell. his purpose is “kill a god, sleep, kill another god, sleep-” man, maybe he doesn’t even sleep.
god (or lack of, hehe- get it? because he kills gods?), what if he was so screwed up after the death of karna that he discarded all of his emotions away and decided that it was the gods that turned his fate into this? i think that in the culture arjuna comes from, gods play an extremely prevalent role in life and duty? if that makes sense. it was like that in the past, where gods would live with people, walk among them, and all that. (i’m talking like, babylonia, ancient egypt, etc.) and granted, it’s still like that today in some areas, but a majority of the population don’t worship gods as much. or maybe he didn’t blame the gods specifically, because arjuna’s a bit of a self-centered character, but rather his fate; his “duty” as “arjuna.”
i’m not saying that i want to prevent arjuna alter from “happening” (that’s out of my control anyways since he already exists), but it still feels like i let him fall into this void of despair. like, i didn’t do enough so he’s like this now? i struggle with this kind of stuff, okay-
MAN, i don’t even know why i made this post, i could’ve just said “hey guys i’m super emo over this man” like i did on twitter and be over with this-
#eren chats#long post /#eren rambles about arjuna alter and goes off topic like 3 times.#AS PER USUAL.#i had a reason to writing this post but i got too into it and it turned to a fork from a chopstick.

The Battle for Mewni: Final Thoughts and also it’s a review... kinda
So after binge watching the aforementioned episode non-stop for a week, I’ve decided to pull all my (cohesive) thoughts on it all together for this post. Buckle up kiddies this is gonna be a long ride.
OK FIRST WE’RE GOING TO START WITH SOMETHING THAT IS AS CLOSE TO AN ACTUAL REVIEW:
Over all the movie event was quite thrilling. There were parts where you can tell the actual episodes will be split. However, at times I thought the pacing was a bit slow (I mean, it was funny to watch, but did we really need all those shots of The Book kicking Ludo’s ass?). Overall it was a great episode!
Now to get to the nitty gritty of it all.
THE MAGIC HIGH COMMISION OR COUNCIL OR WHATEVER THEY’RE CALLED I FORGET AT THE MOMENT
Ok so Heckapoo, Rhombulous, and Omni are still alive but just need to... recharge? I don’t know. But Lekmet is dead. As in dead and gone, he’s not coming back dead? I’m not gonna lie that saddens me. He was such a good character. Plus, it’s gonna break Rhombulous’s heart. Poor crystal fool. Hopefully his snake arms can calm him down... or Star. Either way. RIP Lekmet.
(Also can we just apppreciate the Queen’s Sanctuary for a moment?)
MOON’S MOTHER
Just look at her!
I can definatley see similarities between Moon and this woman, but it looks like Moon inherited some of her looks from her father... whoever that was. Also this Queen has Butterfly cheek marks. Maybe she was the one true Butterfly before Star came along? Idk, I just thought that was cool.
TEEN MOON, TEEN RIVER, AND LORD MILDREW
Look at her!
Look at him!
Look at them!
Also Mildrew... I can kinda see why Moon didn’t marry him.
Kind of a wimp, don’t you think?
TEEN MOON IN GENERAL LIKE HOLY HELL
She lost her mother, who she clearly loved very much, and was thrusted into Queendom at an earlier age than most and was then given the responsbility to end a war by either continuing it or signing a peace treaty.
Me to, girl. Me too.
However, she took initiative and made a metaphorical deal with the devil. And by devil, I mean Eclipsa. And by metaphorically I mean literally.
And used that power to defeat Toffee’s army and excepted her role as Queen.
And props to her for blasting Toffee’s finger as a way to go around her original deal with Eclipsa. Also Mina was there and she wasn’t as crazy... so... cool?
ECLIPSA’S ALIVE AND SHE SEEMS PRETTY CUTE AND ALSO MAYBE EVIL I DON’T KNOW.
Ok we saw as far back Crystal Clear that she might have been in the crystal’s in Rhombulous’s dimension but to actually have confirmation is something else entirely!
I’m not sure if I’d call her evil just yet but she seems to be taking Toffee’s place as main antagonist... I guess I’ll have to wait until November to tell.
(Also the first she wanted once she was unfrozen was a candy bar. Like, same madame. Same)
GLOSSARYCK... THE TRUEST NEUTRAL TROLL SINCE ALEX HIRSCH.
It was nice to see more of Glossaryck showing some emotions (though he said he had no feelings earlier in the series but that doesn’t necessarily mean the same thing)
And I’m impressed how this show handled the book burning.
This makes me glad that Star has started writing down her own book of spells. This means that not only will everyone have a fresh start, but maybe the years and years of prejudice against Monsters by Mewmans will start to fade...
And then their’s Glossaryck’s fate himself. I mean, first we saw him burning in Book Be Gone
(Sorry, this is the best picture I could find)
Now Im not sure if Glossaryck is truly “dead” or if he’ll stay “dead” and hell I’m not even sure where he is or if Star can go get him but... hey we still have another season to figure all this out so... good luck, you neutral jerk...
STAR AND MARCO OMG THEY WERE CO CUTE!!!!!!
Look at all this Starco we got!
And of course the safe kid finally got his wish to punch Lizard-Loki only after he realized the ass killed Star
While neither really got the chance to actually talk about their feelings for each other (which I’m kind of disappointed they never did) I expect that to be a plot point for future episodes... Also Jackie because I’d love to see more Jarco as well.
*Starco shippers*:
Hey! I’d love to see any of Marco’s relationships fulshed out more! So shut it.
AND BECAUSE I’M GETTING TIRED, THIS WILL BE ONE OF MY FINAL POINTS OF INTEREST
.
.
.
TOFFEE
Just fucking Toffee guys! Ok, first of all. Moontoffee shippers... I don’t care if you ship them... I have LITERALLY seen people ship crazier pairs. I’m not a big fan of it but I can kinda understand the appeal. So... whatever. I don’t care what you people do.
Second, I am a little pissed that Toffee appeared to be nothing more than a plot device. Especially sinc he had so much potential! And now he’s dead. Yeah, sorry conspiracy theorist. His ass is grass. He’s dead. Maybe we’ll see more of him in flashbacks but honestly... I think Eclipsa’s our new baddie. Kind of a let down here, I’m not gonna lie.
Ok, but can we just talk about how petty and extra Toffee was in this entire movie? I mean don’t get me wrong, I’m disappointed that the whole “Missing Finger thing” was nothing more than a petty grudge
but the fucking lengths he went to get it back. I mean, first Moon blast’s his finger off.
(How has his face not turned into a meme yet?)
“She dramatically chopped off a small finger!”
“All hope is lost!”
(Really Rasticore? I expected more of you...)
And his damn face. Like, it’s not some dramatic afer-battle moment like the tapestry depicted
But more like
*frustrated sigh*
“Well then.”
“This is inconvient.”
And we don’t here from him for at least another twenty years (Hey Star Crew could we get a timeline of events here?). And what does he do once he comes back?
He hires himself into Ludo’s army, convinces them to overthrow Ludo, gets Star to destroy her wand, nearly kills all of Ludo’s army, manipulates Ludo and nearly drives him insane, practically kills the Magic High Commision, taints all of the universe’s magic, practically manipulates Ludo into toppling a majority of Mewni, nearly kills Star, and destroys the Magic Instruction Book...
... just to get his fucking finger back.
How god damn petty do you have to be to go to those lengths just to get one finger back? Like what the hell?
And I’d like to point out that Toffee was a very excellent source for nightmare fuel in these past few episodes like...
Dude
Toffee, stop
This is a kid’s show, Toffee.
toFFEE!
And we can’t forget this little gem:
Not gonna lie, this is the only time I pitied the damn lizard.
All of what Toffee did to me is just so funny. Like in retrospect, the concept of it all just strikes me as hilarious.
And that is the brunt of my final thoughts on the season 3 premiere of Star vs the Forces of Evil, The Battle for Mewni. If you guys have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. I might come back and update a few theory posts eventually and I’ll definatley update my Star vs episodes in one sentence posts, I just have to watch each episode indivually again to get a better feel for it.
Until then, stay weird and wild fellow fans!

Warning: this is a one-shot from me, feel free to add on.
Danny knew something had been off about Clockwork for a while. He also knew Ancients don’t get sick for no reason. So he did what he could to help the symptoms—iced rags for the growing fever, forced the ageshifter into the literal sands of time in the Long Now to keep him warm and calm the ever-chattering teeth. If this helped force Clockwork into not working and something equating sleep, that was between Clockwork and Nocturne.
Danny managed the timelines related to his home universe. If he dragged Dan into helping the more volatile ones as a cautionary tale, well. It was that or another session with Nocturne and Jazz about his feelings as the sole survivor of a tied off time knot.
Danny managed the butterfly affects and set up systems to alert him to when something was liable to harm a timebranch, and for possible timeknots. Detangling timelines was a tedious at best, but necessary to avoid time mattings. Those had to be destroyed and the timeline before the time matting diverted.
Dan was in charge of worst of the timeknots while Danny focused on preventing them. They were lucky to avoid any matts before Clockwork took a turn for the worse.
It started with a broken glass cough. Then he began to groan and thrash. Then Clockwork spewed what could only be described as ‘time juice’ that deaged him as Phantom but not Fenton.
Danny did not appreciate being a toddler again.
Dan said he wasnt adopting him if it was permanent before calling some shadow thing to help him cut off another timeknot and create another benign paradox loop.
Danny sat his toddler tail in front of his mentor and did the only thing he could think of: threaten him into confessing.
“Clocky,” he half sang, “if you don’t tell me what’s making you sick I’ll call Auntie Death and have her get all your exes meet at once.”
Clockwork glanced about the Long Now.
“… one of my, reflections shall we say(?), is badly injured.”
“Reflections?” phantom wrinkled his nose. “You mean mirror born?”
“No, more autonomous duplicates. They’ve all developed beyond what i needed initially. My own alternate developments, you could say.”
“So a not clone-clone is in trouble?” Danny leaned forward, tracing Clockwork’s eye scar with his eyes.
“It appears he was… indisposed until recently and awoke to a serious time matting.”
Phantom blanched at the thought of one of those. “And he can’t cut it off?”
“It appears he is in combat, and losing.” Clockwork shuddered violently for a moment. “Badly.”
Danny narrowed his eyes. Time mattings are beyond him, but he can save Clockwork’s reflection.
“Which timescreen do i go in to help?”
“Danny,” his mentor frowned. “You don’t have to—“
“I want to, fright means no one faces their thing on their own. So let me help.”
Clockwork muttered the time screen’s location.
Danny flew into the middle of a battle. Kronos was big, bad and obsession mad.
He did catch a few magic users and shot them with an ectoblast each.
He forgot his brain would catch up to his body’s deaging at some-point.
“Leave my daddy alone you buttheads!”
That did cause the colorful adults to turn around and look at him. He didnt care—his daddy was sick, really bad sick because a chunk of him went obsession mad because of how matted the timeline was and those are really bad and—and—
“How did a toddler get here!”
“When did Kronos have another kid?”
“Child, you are confused, your father did a bad thing and is being handled.” A woman with armor kind of like Mommy interrupted.
Then Daddy screamed.
Danny whipped his head back to Daddy. Daddy’s in a glowing circle snarling and scared and angry and—and these people hurt His Daddy!
The trenchcoat guy was chanting something and gold chains and Daddy was hurthurthurt.
“I said let my daddy Goooooo!” He wailed at trenchcoat.
The chanting stopped while the colorful meanies ran around and some green people put up bad shields.
“Daddy!” Danny flew up to this version of Daddy. “Daddy daddy daddy!”
Kronos hesitantly extended his large hand for Danny to land in.
“Other Daddy said you needed help an an i help! So can Perry-me since he does knot cuts an’ an other daddy’s all sick now an’ its real real bad! He has chest boogies an’ it got all on me an’ i’m little again but i know i’m supossed to be bigger than a big boy but not like,
An adult. Perry-me’s an adult and he’s like, a lot of sad and angry and Jazz says he needs the there-a-pee but i dont know what potty training has to do with his angeries. I think he need to do like, an ecto poo or something.”
Danny waited for this version of Daddy to say something.
“… which version of me do you belong to?” Kronos asked the boy incredulously. He glanced over the Justice League in the distance.
“He says you’re his, his re-flex-on”
Kronos eyed the speedsters responsible for the horrendous timematting that required a reset spanning back at least six generations to prevent. Possibly more for a thorough job well done.
“Origin then, i see.” Kronos returned his attention to the ghostling. “And why would he send you?”
“Daddy says i’m a hero but i think he’s trying to make up for my other mommy and daddy always forgetting me and that their stuffs want me on their, their wab, Wa, luh, lab. Lab! Words are hard.”
Kronos briefly debated killing the distraction. Or at least sending it away. That stupid bond to Origin getting in the way of fixing the clusterfuck that is his sector of the multiverse.
“Yes they are little one. Do you have any reason to stay here?”
“I help! We go to Perry-me and Other Daddy and they can fix it! Perry-me’s been covering for Daddy since he got sick. I make the, the portal and Perry-me’s good at fixing time problems where, where they start. Daddy’s good at listening an, an everyone de, deserves help so i help!”
Kronos glanced at the gathered Justice League with the Laughing Magician contest with… and the child before him both being outside of his omniscience.
Of course Origin would adopt the closest thing to the Laughing Magician in his sector.
“You’re not going to leave until i agree, are you?”
“Daddy is fright, and fright means no forgetting or ignoring or pretending the person isnt there and doesn’t need help or leaving them on their own when things are bad. And time matts are really, really bad!”
Kronos sighed. “Lead the way laughing magician.”
Kronos did give the Justice League a dark grin as they left in a portal the toddler clapped into being.
“Daddy! I found the hurt you! An’ it’s a, a super bad time matt! Worse than when Perry-Me killed the world!”
—
The Justice league stared at one another in horror after Superman finished relaying what the kid had said.
Kronos as his father is bad enough. There being multiple Kronos’s is worse. Then Kronos’ mystery kid having John Constantine’s inherited title and role as the laughing magician?
They are, in a word, fucked if the two return. And they will. Its only a matter of time.
Batman was twitching a storm while John downed his flask.
(Barry was oddly quiet.)
#dpxdc#clockwork is kronos#but at the same time he's not#clockwork divided himself to control the problematic dimensions#and some of his clones developed a personality on their own#since clockwork doesn't care about morals as long as the timeline is fixed that was okay for him#since that dimension fate was to be destroyed he kinda decided to destroy it himself#de aged danny#mentor clockwork#sick clockwork#clockdad#my writing#quick fic#what quick fic#minor worldbuilding#time branches out and needs to flow freely#time knots are BAD and have to be untangled#time matts require destruction as it dams up the flow of time#if time is backed up timelines unravel#look up captain marvel’s city#that is a warning bell for a time matt#cities should not be experiencing separate time periods#by block#technically all the situation is flash's fault#but flash and flashfam dont know#or do they?
