Sims 2 Question: is there are a way to set the menu on unowned community lots?

I want to use specific cc foods for certain restaurants. I have tried having a sim purchase the lot, setting the menu, and then sell it. the menu doesn’t “stick” that way.

anything I can do / mods that I can use? 🤔

Extreme Lag

I miss it around here and playing sims 2 but I keep experiencing extreme lag whenever I open the game and play on large lots or start populating a lot that isn't large. Doesn't make playing enjoyable. I want to play so bad, but I can't deal with the lag and don't know what to do. My computer is still relatively new so I'm not sure why this is happening.

Decided to try and tweak the sims 3 version to my tastes for CQ (thank you @pixeldolly 😇😊)

🤔However, I have a question, have the build pieces (the spire, fence at the top of the roof, the columns and triangle bit above the entrance) - have they ever been recoloured?🤔

If so, let me know in the replies. Ideally, I'd like to make it a different colour, but worse case I'll keep it like this.

Help - everything I place a pool, this lot crashes.

So, I've finished the first lot of the post-apocalyptic far east hood. By finished, I mean the exterior is finished, the interior is not done, yet. Now the problem is, everytime I place a pooltile on the lot (for the water mod), the lot crashes - even with my lotwater mod removed. I know this is a large and CC heavy lot that probably is too much for the game, but if anyone has an idea how to fix this, please let me know!

Does anyone know of a way to create custom NPC’s in The Sims 2? I’m planning on slowly re-adding the Maxis townies to The Hood Building Group’s Life & Pet Stories neighbourhoods (Four Corners, Garden Heights, etc), but I’ve never been able to figure out how to do the same for NPC’s.

Any suggestions or links to tutorials are greatly appreciated! I’ll of course make this available for download once completed 😊

Wondering if anyone else has encountered this glitch with food in the cooler?

I have a bunch of home cooked food my Sim sells at his business, it's a mix of Maxis and custom food items. I price the items in the cooler usually at the "average" setting and everything is a different price depending on the value settings of each item, I suppose. So for example some things might be $80, some $70, some $100 etc.

But every time I set it, within a couple minutes, every single item in the cooler will say it's $166 as above. I can reset it as many times as I want, it always reverts to this.

It's really annoying because it makes some things wildly more expensive than they should be, so no one will buy them.

This is just the Maxis cooler with a recolour, nothing custom. I'm pretty sure I have no mods that affect pricing of items in businesses and any times I've run HCDU before nothing comes up that I can see would have anything to do with this.

This isn't the quickest and easiest thing to test for with 50/50 so just hoping someone else might have seen this before and have a clue!

Amovitam Clean Water Shower System Recolors - Now With Fixed Dirty State!!

Hi everyone, I love the recolors of the basegame Clean Water Shower System shower found here, but the dirty state used the vanilla textures which bothered me. So I decided to do something about it! All of the recolors now have their very own dirty states! Yay! I used Gimp to create the dirty textures and have included the file I created in case anyone can find use in it. Thanks to Amovitam who has a very generous TOU so I do not need permission to edit their recolors and I am allowed to reupload them without giving credit (however they deserve credit for these beautiful recolors so I am going to give it anyway, sue me!) Also thanks to the Sims2Help reddit for helping my n00b self through getting these up and running!

Hiii c: I saw your Sims 2 post and I was just wondering like how do you play Sims? Did you buy a copy of it online and just play it on PC? when i was much younger i used physical copies of the collection on disc, but a few years ago EA offered the entire sims 2 collection (digitally) for free through Origin. so thats how ive been playing it ever since. but im not sure if the offer is available anymore? idk. there are many ways of finding the collection online tho 🏴‍☠️ im not sure what the exact min requirements are but i doubt you will have any problem running it. ive played it on shitty old laptops as a kid

hiii sorry if youve gotten this question b4 but can i ask how youre playing sims 2? i know that theres ways to download it these days since u cant buy it anymore...but i dont know how trustworthy any of those options are lol its confusing! i love your little sims posts i think theyre so awesome theyre whats making me want to try the game out myself :D

r/sims2help's wiki guide is really good, I would highly recommend using the web installer they link it makes it piss easy. I've installed the game using both the web installer and the g4tw torrent and the web installer is better lol. I've never had good luck with graphicsrulemaker though so u may have to go in and edit that file yourself (fixes the game not recognizing that ur gpu usnt a piece a 2004 shit basically)

I really recommend using lazyduchess's RPC launcher as well, the web installer will download it for you as an option. It fixes an important bug relating to sim genetics and fixes sim shadows without the need for a separate mod. There's quite a few other options too but I don't use them (like high quality lot imposters. crashes my game lol)

If you have an AMD graphics card, you may experience really long start times for your game (like itll show up in task manager for 10 minutes before actually launching) so like. DON'T panic i had this issue lol. You'll want to follow this guide to installing dxvk just don't install it if ur not having #problems bc it does have some tradeoffs.

I think that should be pretty much it as far as getting the game to run goes, there's a few mods that you'll want to have but I really would not worry about it until you know you're gonna be playing this game for a While bc some of their setups are really fucking annoying (clean neighborhood templates...)

Intro

Hi, this is Firefly’s Locket, and you’ve found my Simblr! I’ve been playing The Sims since 2001, and my favorite game in the series is The Sims 2. I enjoy playing with a variety of sims, both premade and original. I like making my Timeline characters as sims and seeing what they get up to in-game. I wrote commentary for my Sparks Legacy for 7 years, and I am finally bringing it back. I play heavily Wants-based, but I don’t adhere to any system or rule set exactly. I just like going with the flow and seeing what adventures my pixel people take me on.

Finally bit the bullet and started playing Sims 2

(after years of holding on to Sims 3) and it's quite interesting. Trying to make a 20 year old game function smoothly in the current year is an absolute ride (shoutout to r/sims2help for documenting and compiling all that) because I'm fully convinced that any minor irritant presented by the game has a fix out there already and I just have to dig deeper into the internet and follow rabbithole links until I find what I'm looking for.

But now I want to play around with making CC because I can't find one specific thing I'd like to have in my CAS and the amount of tabs I've opened just to get simPE to work as mentioned in a tutorial from 2006 and to look for a package file is hilarious (twenty, for one problem).

I'm starting to believe that the setting up the game to be optimized with the PC, digging for CC and mods, going through x-amount of pages of lovingly made documentation from such a passionate community is part of the Sims franchise. Would the amount of googling and double checking forums and updating graphical details (I spent the other day combing through the internet for default replacements I liked until my eyes hurt - and even then I wasn't really happy with all that I got and I only finished toddler and children clothing) have been better spent actually just playing the game itself? Probably. Am I enjoying the digging and fiddling and internet swimming until I find what I need? Well, absolutely yes sksksdjskfj. Plus it's just a reminder of how much bloody love and work people have poured into these games as a community.

Like I could open up a different game from my Steam Library, spend four hours playing it, and go about my day but I dont find that fun. /genuine

Time running slowly

Does anyone know how to get the flow of time running normally again on a lot? On speed 1, it takes 2-3 seconds for 1 sim minute to pass. Normally 1 sim min is 1 IRL second, right? I’ve noticed this only happens on lots I’ve built myself, not downloaded.

Has anyone had, and fixed, an issue like this? My sims move at normal speed, time just passes so slowly.

A little help with The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection???

Hello! guys i have some issue with the sims 2 ultimate collection.. Recently i decided to open my game to play after some time

And when i opened it all my downloads and neighborhoods were missing... THEY WERE on the sims 2 document folder but they didn’t appear in game... like they were missing... 

So i desided to back up my downloads and re-install the game like i always do when i have any issue. When the game was downloaded again, i opened the game and i had the same issue but this time the document folder had nothing inside... But it existed just empty... 

I re instal once again the game and the same thing... 

Can somebody tell me how to fix this? Thank you! i have the game many years since origin release it with the known code and i use it with the no CD version so origin don’t mess my game up.. But i don’t know what happened...
