---------- This patio is saved as a “room” and should be placed on your lot BEFORE you begin building. As it’s saved as a room the pool itself is not in the build (thank you EA for being ridiculous), but the placement of the pool is clearly marked on the pool deck. The Sims 4 Amber House Pack!

It's time to create your own mission style dream house, with this collection of 345 brand new and hella cool build/buy mode items, inspired by Dontnod's "Life is Strange: Before the Storm" game.

FEATURES:

 345 new items (including sofas, tables, decor, windows, doors and much much more!)

 Search for "amberhouse", "lis", "simsi45" to find most of the items in the build/buy catalog.

 Custom original names and descriptions. (the best I could come up with :P)

 Tons of custom recolors (based on original textures) to mix and match items more easily.

 Heavy modification on original meshes and textures, including english text turned into simlish.

 Everything has been playtested thoroughly.

 Included are a couple of easter egg items from The Sims 2 that I thought fit the theme well.

New lot I made showcased in the trailer and pics (found in the gallery under my tag @simsi45_mods) a recreation of Rachel Amber's house.

LOT INSTALLATION:

Included in the pack is the lot recreation of the Amber House that's featured in the pictures and videos.

You can get the lot by:

Using the gallery. Make a search under my EA id: @simsi45_mods and download the lot as usual. I've included customized pictures to identify my own lot more easily. Make sure you have the "enable custom content" tag ENABLED for the lot to show up in the results.

If you have difficulties using the gallery you can download the lot tray files from the bottom of the post, and move them inside your own tray folder. This can be found in your documents/electronic arts/the sims 4/ tray folder. This way you can install the lot without the need of the gallery.

NOTES:

~ The pack is in an EARLY-ACCESS STATE! I have dedicated a lot of time to test everything but I'm a team of just a single person. If you find any issues please let me know so I can take a look.

~ Because of the amount of items the size of the pack is quite big. I tried my best to make everything as compact as possible with the final size being 1.5 GB of required free space. 

~ The majority of the meshes and textures of these items are ripped straight from the LIS: Before the Storm game, and then each individual item (both mesh and textures) has been heavily modified and edited to fit and function properly within the Sims 4 game's engine. That's why some items will look identical to the original game, some look somewhat different, and some are brand new meshes I made using the original items.

~ Some of the original ripped meshes' poly counts were WAY too high so I had to lower the polygons so The Sims 4 wouldn't explode when filling a lot with them. I lowered the polygons and edited most of the items as much as possible without compromising their original look too much. In other words I tried to find the best balance between looks and performance and after lots of testing on my moderate PC system, I can confirm the game runs super smoothly on my end. 

BACKSTORY ABOUT THE PACK (no spoilers):

This pack started with an idea I got back in 2017 when I first played Life Is Strange Before The Storm. When visiting the Amber house, I immediately fell in love with it as I am huge fan of the craftsman architectural style, it's literally all I'd want my dream house to be. The art team has done an incredible job on it, and as I personally find the art style of the Life is Strange series and The Sims 4 to fit very well with each other, I wanted to make these assets available for The Sims 4. Of course back then this all seemed impossible, however a few years later in 2020 during quarantine I revisited the idea as it had been stuck on my wishlist ever since.

To make a long story short, this project has been in the works for about 3 years now, and after a lot of hard work, head scratching and quite a few sleepless nights I managed to overcome all the obstacles I came across (which were a lot mind you) and I'm honestly hoping you'll be as pleased with the results as I am. Seriously this exceeded my expectations as it started as a small little pack for my personal use, to what I'd consider an expansion pack's (or even more) worth of build/buy content.

INSTALLATION:

Due to the size of the pack I had to split it up into multiple parts. You will need a .RAR extractor unpack it. More specifically:

1 -> Download ALL 6 parts of the pack and put them ALL in the same folder. 2 -> Right click the 1st part .RAR file named "Simsi45 - The Sims 4 Amber House Pack.part1" and click "Extract Here"   3 -> Once that's finished a package file will appear, this is the entire pack and you can now move that into The Sims 4/Mods. Simple as that!

Pancakes Household: Chapter 9, Part 4

This is Halloween, Halloween, Halloween

Bob: Costume time! Okay friends and fans, it’s time for our Halloween special, who wants to make a pumpkin pie with me?

From beside Bob the droid chirps to indicate that people are tuning in.

Bob: As you can see I have chosen to be a rebel pilot today. I’ll be keeping this on for the bake and my bake sale but something tells me the boss would not approve of me turning up to work in it. Okay let’s run through all our ingredients

The drone chirps while Bob begins preparations. Eliza’s suggestion to get the drone may have stemmed from a place of wanting the flashiest one but Bob appreciated having a set of eyes he could look at when he talked.

Bob: Ugh, kneading, not my favourite part after I’ve already done a workout but hey, that’s on me

He continues to narrate his baking, even getting the drone to read out a question or two that viewers have sent in about the recipe. In the end he pulls one excellent pumpkin pie out of the oven, a perfect Halloween treat.

Bob: Come one, come all to Bob’s Bars! We don’t just have our classic beloved lemon bars today, we have cake and cookies for the sweetness you want on Halloween. If you’re having all that sugar, may as well get full eating it!

The first few customers seem unimpressed with Bob’s selling today but when some new sims walk up to purchase suddenly decide maybe the baking isn’t so bad.

Fergus: Hey Onyx could you- woah! What are you

Onyx: A knight obviously. I see you’re going with the classic skeleton

Fergus: No point fixing what isn’t broke. But could you please help me with my bike? Dad’s busy with the sale and I don’t want to interrupt mother when she’s practicing her speech

Onyx: Sure, I can try. Hop on and I’ll try explain, remember I only just learnt how to ride before my birthday

Fergus: Oh yeah, that’s right

So Fergus wobbles his way around the yard with Onyx doing their best to provide guidance.

Bob: Alright folks, my shift will be starting soon. Who’s going to be customer of the day and buy the last lemon bar?

Harvey: Hello. Do you have bake sales often

Bob: Why yes I do sir

Harvey: How convenient! And do you get positive reviews

Bob: Indeed I do

Harvey: Well then person I’ve never met I would like to buy the last lemon bar

After Bob makes the sale Harvey tells everyone around him how good it is while Bob packs up. It’s good to have friends.

Eliza greets the first trick or treater and offers them some candy. The kid leaves happy and Ginger comes out of the house very confused.

Ginger: *whines* What’s going on

Eliza: Ginger sweetie it’s just me, it’s just mother. Here let me give you a brush

Ginger: *barks* you may not look like mother but you definitely smell the same

Then it’s dinner time for the Pancakes left at home.

Fergus: Dad left us roast! Awesome

Eliza: Onyx will you be able to eat in that helmet

Onyx: I could ask you the same question. But I won’t, because I’m a good kid who deserves a horse

Fergus: *laughs*

The trio chat and eat while Ginger looks on. Sure she has biscuits in her bowl but that looks like real meat on the table. Why won’t they feed her that?

Onyx takes care of the dishes and Fergus decides it’s time for Ginger to learn another trick, playing dead. Mustering his drama skills he does his best to show her what to do, but she remains skeptical of the exercise. Fergus keeps trying though and eventually Ginger catches on, rolling to the floor.

Fergus: You did it! Well done Ginger, we’re stars

*doorbell rings*

Eliza: Onyx could you get that one

Onyx: Sure mother

They open the door to the deck candy all prepared and are greeted by a teen girl dressed as a maid.

Zhafira: Trick or treat

Onyx: Uhh… what

Zhafira: *laughs* I mean for me

Onyx: Oh, right. Have some candy?

Zhafira: Why thank you

Onyx has just decided they should ask what high school the stranger attends when she turns and skips off down the drive.

Carson pops over to visit and become best friends with Onyx!

Onyx: Where’s your costume

Carson: I’m dressed as someone who doesn’t care about Halloween

Onyx: Your loss. Hey, have you seen a girl at school?

Carson: There are many girls at school

Onyx: I mean a specific one, she’s a brunette with a bob cut

Carson: You don’t know a name

Onyx: She left pretty quickly, but she was cute and I wondered why I hadn't noticed her before

Carson: People keep aging Onyx, so more teens. But sorry I don’t really find many people cute at our school so haven't noticed

Onyx: You said that last year. But if you know you’re bi you must have been attracted to someone once right

Carson: I mean, it’s going to sound stupid...

Onyx: You’re my best friend, sound as stupid as you like

Carson: I mean I’ll find a guy or girl pretty but my daydreams are usually romance filled instead of woohoo filled

Tutorial: Custom Sidewalks & Sewers

Published: 5-24-2024 | Updated: N/A SUMMARY Here is a quick step-by-step guide for making sidewalks with the Streetscaping 001 (Simmons, 2024) and Repo Pack (Simmons, 2023) sets. Make sure you have some niche/repo pack recolors in-game as well. I recommend these for the sewer material. This method is ONLY for lots with a 2-click or a 4-click foundation (the default height). I recommend using a road default or overlay without grass/sidewalks. Feel free to alter steps based on your gameplay needs. DETAILS Requires all EPs/SPs + the Streetscaping 001 (Simmons, 2024) and Repo Pack (Simmons, 2023) sets. If you’re using a 2-step foundation and want large dogs to access the building, get the Stair Mod (Simler90, 2021). SIDEWALKS

Once your building has a foundation, add steps (or ramps) so that sims can get from the street to the first floor. You won’t need Simler90’s Stair Mod for buildings on a 4-click (default) foundation. If you want steps/ramps to match everything else, add the step/ramp cover pieces (front/center and side).

2. Add 2-click platforms and/or foundation pieces to the existing foundation of the buildings. I always put one row in front and a few pieces on the left/right ends of the lot.

3. Add curb pieces across the front and any other deco you want. You may need “move objects on/off” and “grid on/off” cheats.

4. Play around with recolors/swatches to get the look you want. For matching and variant maxis textures, check out the #co2repopack tag.

NOTE: Due to default game coding, your sidewalk will be visible in neighborhood view with some slight quirks. Objects in this set may appear to float slightly above the foundation in neighborhood view on 2-click foundations and any other foundation less than the default 4-click high (default height). This may also happen with the steps/ramp. This wasn’t a big deal for me, and everything functions/looks as it should otherwise.

SEWERS

The sewer canal is made for a 4-click foundation, deck, or stage – this comes in handy if you plan on having sims walk around your sewer tunnels - BUT you don’t have to use it. Add it and recolor the “sewer material” as you wish (look for element recolors HERE and under #co2repopack tag).

2. Using the tunnel is optional –place it on the same tile as the canal piece.

3. For functional sewers – where sims can walk around the interior – add floor tiles. You can even make a “bridge” across the water.

4. Add other deco and walls as needed. NOTE: You’ll probably need to combine pieces and use placement cheats.

The Soho Patio

One of the things that I hear in Sims 4 social media groups a lot is that many people struggle with outside decor/landscaping. I've designed a series of "patios" that are "rooms" !!

The Soho Patio is a multi-level, multi- function wood deck space- with a comfortable sitting/lounging entertaining area, a lower level asian tea area, and a raised japanese hot tub- all surrounded by garden beds!

I strongly recommend that you place the patio/room first and then build around it.

I dreamt something before that but I had this dream tonight where I was a make teenager and living with my dad (12 years I think?) and I had a friend over and this absolutely cool room with a long couch and lots of monitors (funnily enough a tiny TV, reminded me of the retro TV in Sims 4). No bed to be seen though.

We wanted to play a video game and I went to my little brother's room to ask him if he wanted to join also. He was about to tackle homework but agreed to join. I (male teenager me) tossled his dreadlocks. My little bro was mixed race and his mum was not in the picture for some reason. We were about to play the videogame and had a POV change

I was me (closer to awake self as female, but aged 16/17). My older sister (21-23ish) was over and showing me this completely decked out nursery (that for some reason had been assembled here and now she'd have to move it). We chatted a bit and middle younger brother had friends over and they asked me if I could wear my school uniform for them and if I looked sexy wearing it. I declined to dress up for a bunch of 12 year olds and told them that our uniforms where more like chic prisoners anyway. Cut to my school the next day and then a collage what every one could be wearing at school (we had a surprising variety of allowed pieces).

Today we had a movie showing and I went to get a seat. Somehow Giles from Buffy was our school director? Visiting movie presenter? Not really clear.

I couldn't find my friends nor any free seats really. Tried to sit next to some girls in hijabis but they said another friend was coming. I ended up leaning against the last row of seats, because they had made this kind of wood podium for them.

The movie startet and it was about vampires. Many people had also worn clothes with bat motives on them. Suddenly there was (subdued) screaming, the movie was stopped and some students started to flee in panic. I felt myself being hugged/held from being. Probably should have been scared but kinda melted into the embrace. I turned around and there was this person - gender unclear. Short, wild, blondish- honey hair. Kinda like the characters I liked as a young teenager tbh. I was like "hey are you a girl or a boy, because I'm kinda over boys after my first BF but well we can work with it.". The person (well vampire obviously) asked a bit surprised that I had a relationship already and I was like" "yeah a BF and a GF but girlfriend was more serious but still were just finding ourselves and trying this relationship thing you know?". Then I noticed they had boobs under their frilly blouse and vest combo and went "we can work with that". Meanwhile some people were eaten by vampires. My vampire decided to go back to my place though and on the way I was praying to Hecate to keep my siblings safe because I already felt mostly safe anyway. I was chanting under my breath "Hecate, Hecate please" and I had this brief flash forward moment that my vampire would approve of my faith and we'd bond over this. We missed the train home but hoped onto the end piece and rode that way.

Later we were girlfriends (they were fine with that term though still kinda genderfluid) and prepping for a lolita fashion teaparty. My vampire GF wanted to wear gothic lolita with a kinda on the nose vampire theme and I had this blue koi print dress I made myself and wanted to pick up accessories to go with it. I had left it at this place that made custom pieces to go with your existing wardrobe and they mislaid my dress. GF was about to go berserk on them for losing my work but they said they found it after all. (I own the fabric that inspired this koi dream dress btw but not enough for a dress I think. Hmm.)

The Sims 4 reveals two new kits, ending the summer with a splash

As one of the greatest simulation games of all time, The Sims 4 holds a special place in my heart. EA continues to release content for The Sims 4, in the form of expansion packs or smaller kits. There's no shortage of new features coming to the game, from entirely new species like horses to more decorative-focused content. It looks like summer isn't over yet for EA, as the developer just announced two brand-new kits that are sure to cause waves. The Poolside Splash Kit. The Poolside Splash Kit is definitely on my radar thanks to its brightly-colored swim apparel and fun floaties. No matter what your Sim’s body type or skin tone is, the kit has swimwear that will complement them well. The suits all come in different colors, cuts, and patterns, making for a nice variety of attire to choose from. That isn’t all, though, as EA writes, “Sims can even dip their toes into the world of aquatic accessories, perfecting their poolside ensemble with stylish shades, rainbow nails, sandals, fabulous floaties and more.” I usually just default to custom-content swimsuits myself, but it looks like I won’t need to do so for long. I mean, just look at that lilac two-piece and donut floatie. EA’s other new kit, the Modern Luxe Kit, is less about time spent by the pool and more about time spent in front of the mirror. It promises “elegant art, sophisticated décor, and cushy comfort.” As someone who abuses the motherlode cheat like there’s no tomorrow, I’m definitely going to have some decked-out Sims. From functional record players to designer handbags, no rich Sim will go without when this kit drops. What makes the Modern Luxe Kit even more unique is the fact that EA collaborated with a well-known Simmer and YouTuber, Xureila, to create it. When discussing the kit, Xurelia says, “From my vision board of the design to choosing the style and colors of the furniture, it was surreal seeing my ideas come to life.” She also says that she “drew inspiration from Black artists who showcased the luxurious lifestyle of Black individuals” for the kit, and I absolutely love that. The Poolside Splash Kit and Modern Luxe Kit release on Thursday, 7 September. You can grab each kit for $4.99 / £4.99 here on EA’s website. They will both drop on Steam, too, if you’d prefer to get them through Valve’s platform. Thinking About Writing a Sims Retrospective...

I started playing The Sims when I was 11 years old. The original game was at the end of its run. So, I had access to pretty much all of the packs and gameplay. Rosebud was a godsend for unlocking the fun gameplay immediately. I remember having little pixel people making out on a bear rug in a log cabin while nervously looking over my shoulder to make sure my dad wasn’t watching. There was another time when I used an external editing program to try and recreate the Teen Titans from the 2003 animated series with a horrible air-brushed, MS Paint-esque result. Of course I showed my friends because I was proud of my jerry-rigged custom content. Beast Boy ate turkey because “there weren’t many vegetarian options.” Every meal option, outside of some buffet options, Makin’ Magic spells, pizza, or microwaved Hungry Man looking lasagna, was salad. A very pathetic looking salad.

The most in-depth game play I really remember doing was trying to work a Sim up the celebrity star ranks in Superstar. When I revisited this expansion 20 years later, I seriously questioned how much patience I had for certain aspects of this game when I was younger. In the most recent go I had at a celebrity Sim, I managed to get him as far as 3.5 stars before I went “fuck it” and started grinding for the materials needed to achieve the Instant 5 star celebrity Makin’ Magic spell. Within the next day, my Sim was decked out in a cowboy-inspired fit with gaudy tassels on his coat and the coveted star floating above his head.

I’m nostalgic for this game. And when I can actually get the original Sims to work, I embrace how janky some elements are and engage with gameplay as if it’s still the early aughts.

I’m an older Sims fan. I only play Sims, Sims 2, and Sims 3. There’s been a few Sims 4 packs that seriously tempted me, especially the Paranormal one. So...I have this ridiculous itch to see how a Reigen Arataka Sim would handle a Bonehilda that’s more interested in finding a booty call than housework. But I’m not so tempted that I’ll overlook EA’s list of scummy, money-grubbing moves: making a DLC that requires DLC, divvying up gameplay into smaller and smaller game packs than any previous iterations, releasing content day 1 riddled with bugs to the point its unplayable and refusing to fix anything. 

After seeing Reckowski make a retrospective and news about Project Rene, I’ve been debating whether or not I want to make my own retrospective video on The Sims. It’s either a Sims retrospective that’ll resurrect my YouTube shenanigans or a “Is Reigen Arataka sexy?” video and the latter has been harder for me to write anything other than an unfinished essay for thus far, hahah. And honestly, I think retrospectives from older Simmers are a good idea period. Younger players deserve the depth and variety of gameplay that older Sims games hinted at having. It’s more than possible now. I have good reason for being cautiously optimistic about Life by You and the development around Paralives.

Granted, I’m also hoping Sims 5 crashes in a fiery, spectacular mess similar to what Sim City did in 2013. So, I’m not sure if I’m the best person to make that kind of starry-eyed, rose-tinted glasses video when I also just want to carve up EA’s micro-transaction nonsense like a crazy person carving up a turkey with a chainsaw.
