Tony Visconti could be seen as one of the most underappreciated producers thanks to him being associated with one particular person way too much, though he gained the latter's prominence later on. I mean, him returning to Bowie on Heathen gave him a boost, so he was considered for many gigs yet again. However, why remains a tough question to answer for some of them. I mean, did Kaiser Chiefs assume him producing their Future Is Medieval would make the platter better? They sort of lucked into their career after a disastrous debut under a different name, but they also belonged to a wave, which ended up with a lot of casualties. Look, the fact they're still going on speaks in their favour more than this album. Thus, the fact the disc also signalled the end of the original lineup? Apt.

I agree with the pessimistic anon only about the point that Edvin and Omar try to separate themselves from Wille and Simon for the sake of their own mental health and career prospects. Thus we should stop being dramatic about their new looks and hairstyles and let them do what they want. They will film promo videos when they have time for it, and we should be ready for them not to look much like Wilmon in them. But the rest?

Yes their lives are not all about YR, they have other projects and are much busier than they were in 2021 (and if you’re fans you should be happy for them). But it doesn’t mean they are not interested in bringing the new YR season to the audience. If it were so why filming it at all??? Omar sang Simon’s song at Rix fm, they speak about the show during their interviews. They try to prevent leaks and spoilers a bit more cautiously this year (because of our dramatic reactions to them among other reasons).

The Abyss’ premiere was about the Abyss and not Young Royals. (Edvin’s character is not even main, he has 7 minutes of screen time in the film.)They didn’t want their reunion to make more fuss and newspaper titles than the premiering film (it happened before). They’ll post a picture together when it’s more appropriate

I don't think YR fandom is dying. People travel to Sweden, sing Simon's song with Omar at Rix fm festival, visit Hillerska, recreate iconic scenes, make dolls, create art, fight Simon antis almost every day. Now new people find our little series through the comparison with RW&RB. It's too early to burry the fandom yet. And all this with zero content from S3. But it will appear pretty soon I'm sure. Netflix accounts started mentioning YR here and there in their posts, Lisa made an appearance at some conference talking about YR, in a week Kristallen will take place. Soon the stills will appear. When Edvin has some free time they'll record promotion material. The fandom has changed and renewed several times during these 2 years, had its ups and downs, it's changing but not dying

Dying may be dramatic but the fandom is definitely less active than it used to be. It's to be expected and it doesn't bother me that much. Even if it's smaller now it's intimata and I don't mind it being small. Ofncourse it will become more active too with seeason 3 coming.

If only I knew. I understand the choosing of the songs he sings, but not why he keeps rehearsing Happier- I’m so excited is known by everyone also the people who are not there for him. She fell in love is played a lot on rix and Simon’s song seems to be a crowd pleaser.

VNA #29 strange england, Simon messingham (1994)

Damn this one took a while to read. It's a very boring story that even tho is short, feels way longer than it should. The basic idea is interesting and it has some amazing scene (the story of the rock is a genuinely unsettling bit) and has some great moments that just aren't build upon. Basically any good idea is just declared, as a vague gesture in the direction of exploring themes. The quack is an interesting antagonist but he only looms as "warning" and don't do much. Charlotte is a great side character but the rest of the house is not very interesting, and there's just too damn much side characters in the real england for me to care about any of them. It doesn't help that rix is a comically evil megalomaniac. At least he goes with a bang. I particularly dislike how messingham treated ace's character. One great character moments tho is ace referrncing 2001, a space Odyssey, only for Bernice to deadpan tell her "no ace, this is 1873"

Since i've started reading trough the vna again, here's my opinion about each and every one of them because it's my blog and i do what i want with it

VNA #1 Timewyrm: genesys (1991, John Peel)

Okay, this book is bad, like it's a disaster. The idea of "dr who meets gilgamesh" is pretty good on paper, but damn does this miss the mark at every term.

Every single scene with ace is gross mysoginistic mischaracterisation, Gilgamesh is insufferable, Ishtar is a completely uninteresting antagonist and her motives are cliché af.

At the very least, the stranded Anuans are an interesting twist and the introduction of avram makes for an interesting Change of Pace.

2/10, that was Five hours of my life i'm never getting back

The popularity of the retro rock styles during the noughts unnerved me. True, I did listen to several songs in the period – I have to admit most of them are quite catchy –, yet there were several questions about the motives of these groups. I agree, Kaiser Chiefs seemed like the real deal, they represent the best case scenario after the label shenanigans, but they fit within the English rock scene of the noughts that kept looking for the next great thing and they did get a lot of them, to be honest. So many groups became the possible solution to the crisis of rock at the point, but did they all have to sound like a reprisal from the past? Sure, Kaiser Chiefs had a certain mischievous energy few of their peers dared to even tackle, though I prefer their latest discs more.
