Will relic-powered monster Bumblebee have an Autobot insignia? Or a Decepticon one? (still thinking about your one-shot about Galvatron rescuing him...) --bluerosekatie
i'm still torn on this one actually! he definitely came away from this oneshot with an appreciation for Galvatron, but also his favorite big bro Orion has told him stories about the exploits of the heroic Autobots, so Goldbug himself may be a little torn! he might pull an Overlord and have two insignias, or may end up with a completely different/unique insignia. i'll figure it out
there's something/someone i need to design before getting to a relicized Bee, since he actually looks like something specific when powered up that i haven't really shown anyone yet. i've got a somewhat acceptable sketch at the moment, so at least it's a work in progress
#what goldbug looks like is related to vector sigma AND bob AND simfur AND optimus AND hellscream#within my worldbuilding context specifically. you cant guess it bc i havent actually talked about it yet but we'll get there#wip

Reformation 11
Lockdown had dreamed of nothing but getting revenge on the cocky Beta for vorns. He had stared up at the ceiling of his cell, rubbing his panel because they had welded his codpiece shut so he could not jack off. It had taken everything in him not to jump the first bit of tail he saw when he landed on Cybertron. After vorns locked in a cell, his engine was revving and his spike aching to pressurize. But there had been one half-mech he had wanted to save that for. First, he had needed to recover the Death’s Head and his trophies from Simfur. He had not even fragged the desk sergeant when he had gone to recover his property. Though he had gutted him, that was a given. He had also taken the old copbot’s shockstick for a trophy.
The Alpha stroked his hard spike as he looked over his prize. He had stripped the uppity Beta when he had been out and it had been a good thing he had, given the hidden pistol and knife he had found. Barricade had big tits for a Beta and Lockdown salivated at all the ways he would hurt them. His Beta cock was pathetic and it looked like Beta cock was all his little valve had ever tasted. Lockdown was going to ruin him. He was going to bleed him. Maybe, when he was done, he would get a medic to rebuild his array so Lockdown to ruin him again, if he was alive at the end. This Beta was not all Lockdown wanted though. He had mated that bitched Omega and Lockdown wanted his property back. It was a matter of principle, Alpha had the right to him Omega.
“Surprise,” Lockdown growled as the Beta came online. He made a show of stroking his spike as it leaked pre-fluids. “Thought you’d bested me, half-mech?”
“Big talk for the Alpha that needed back up,” Barricade retorted. Lockdown’s optics flared. He leapt onto the berth, leery over him but the Praxian just sneered. The Alpha squeezed the Beta’s well, hard but the half-mech grimaced, that was it.
“I’m going to rip you apart,” Lockdown growled. “I’m going to rip your insides out with my spike why that Omega I bitched cries. I’m going to make you beg for it to stop.”
“You aren’t mech enough to make me beg,” the Beta replied.
Barricade shouted when the Alpha forced his spike into his tight little valve. Lockdown groaned when he looked down and saw the energon staining his spike when he pulled out. There were tears of pain in the Beta’s optics but they did not satisfy Lockdown, not with the way the enforcer glared up at him with open defiance. Lockdown did not wait for the Beta’s casing to relax, he squeezed Barricade’s hips and pinned him down and forced the half-mech’s valve to take the whole of his spike. Something might have rupture, he thought he hurt a pop but Lockdown did not care. He groaned and grunted as he raped the cocky enforcer, trying to savours his cries of pain. The way he had torn up Barricade’s valve, he would have thought the mech would beg for Lockdown not to knot him but he only groaned and glowered. Lockdown forced his knot into the Beta, after it had popped outside, when Lockdown had waited too long, waited for him to beg.
“Ah!” Barricade screamed and Lockdown hid his disappointed as he filled the cocky slut with all the transfluids he had been storing. His flat belly swelled with it.
“That your first knot?” Lockdown asked. “It won’t be your last.”
“You call that a knot?” Barricade sneered.
The way the Beta could still be so cocky enraged Lockdown. Even when he fragged to enforcer’s sheeth with his hook, he cried in pain but he never cried for Lockdown to stop. Angered, Lockdown raped his aft dry, using only the Beta’s energon for lube. It chafed but Lockdown knew it was worse for the prim little Beta. He fragged the enforcer’s tight aft while wrenching back his doorwings, dislocating them but the enforcer did not beg. Lockdown left him to refuel and to rest, thinking maybe a dark-cycle of pain, lying in a pool of transfluids and energon might soften his conviction. When Lockdown stuck his spike in the Beta’s mouth, Barricade glared up at him and bit.
***
No part of Barricade did not hurt. Lockdown had bit off one of his nozzles as he raped him for the... no, Barricade did not think he would keep count. The bounty hunter had started taking boosters part way through the second mega-cycle and it meant the rapes lasted for joors. His jaw was slack, not from exhaustion but because the bounty hunter had broken both the hinges. It annoyed Barricade that he could not spit the Alpha’s transfluids back at him. He was not sure if the hole Lockdown was rutting into was even a valve anymore, or was Lockdown raping the hole where his sheath and spike had been? It did not really matter. Lockdown emptied his waste tanks in Barricade’s belly and the waste fluid scalded his ruined wiring. Barricade glowered. That’s all he ever tried to muster the strength for.
He was vaguely aware of fever setting in. It added to the haze of pain but Barricade still managed to glare with feverish optics. Lockdown left, leaving Barricade hanging from meat hooks through his doorwings. Where to, Barricade did not know but he left and Barricade hated it when he left. When the Alpha was focused on him, he was not hunting for Prowl. It was hard to goad him for another round of torture, Barricade was drained. Laying in filth, his processor flickered in and out of focus. It was difficult to concentrate with both agony and fever weighing on him. Barricade did not have the tactical systems his cousin did to help him disassociate. He did not know how long it was when the door opened again. When he heard a gasp of horror, Barricade lifted his helm and sighed with relief when it was not Prowl.
“Holy fragging Primus,” the Polyhexian cursed. He pushed a blaster into a holster on his hip and ran into the room. It was not Jazz. This mech had a while helm and gold face. “Easier, Mech. I’ll get ya down.”
Barricade groaned as the Polyhexian tried to support his frame while he cut the hooks he was hanging from. He slid off what remained of the hooks and fell into the newcomer’s arms. Pain as his peds touched the ground made him scream. His rescuer tried to lay him down but Barricade snarled and tried to stand. Where was Lockdown? So long as that sack of scrap was alive, Prowl was in danger and not just Prowl but his bitlet. There was no way Lockdown would suffer the insult of having the Omega he mated carry another Alpha’s bitlet and there was no way Barricade was going to let Lockdown hurt him again. The Polyhexian held him up Barricade fruitlessly tried to stand. It was hopeless but that was find, Barricade would just drag himself along the ground if he had to.
“Easy,” the Polyhexian said. “‘M Rico, ‘m gonna get ya outta here.”
“No!” Barricade hissed.
“No?” Rico asked.
“Can’t let him get Prowl,” Barricade hissed. “Not again.”
“Y’re in no shape to go after Lockdown, Mech,” Rico told him and Barricade snarled. He tried to push off but he did not have the strength. “Where are you... not bleeding from?”
“Not mech enough to make me beg,” Barricade grumbled. He was exhausted, and growing numb increasingly numb. “Not mech enough.”
“Fraggin’ Pit, what did he rupture?” The Polyhexian fussed. “Stay wit me.”
“Mm,” Barricade glared up at the ceiling. Was he on his back?
“Stay wit me!”

So, for my own fanfic purposes, I worked on a list of canonical locations on Cybertron. I don't know if any site has a nicely formatted list of cities/city-states, so I thought I might share this list with others. This is mostly comprehensive as I left off locations that were too specific to one continuity or too confusing and it's quite possible I missed a few places. There are some continuity specific places included I think are more flexible. Many items on this list are not expanded upon, so you can have as much fun as you want.

story concept; following the events of Transformers One, or a similar continuity, the gulf between the Autobots (longing for brotherhood and friendship with alien life) and the xenophobic Decepticons consumed by hatred and the need for control is defined as the Autobots philosophically test the extremes of what it means to transform; to become not just vehicles, or weapons, or weaponize your own body, but to take on forms like the beasts of other worlds
to be an Autobot is to embrace all possibilities and shapes; to be as one with all other forms of life, beyond wheel and cog and fan, but to take on even more alien forms and make it your own; to prove that the Spark resonates with other creatures, not just weapons and utility vehicles
some hard-liners are revolted by this, thinking of it as compliance with the Quintessons; to take on the forms of aliens and their animal counterparts is to become animals. to be nothing more than disgusting, rabid beasts
Optimus considers one of the fallen Primes, who died rather than give the Matrix to a usurper who would have only used its power for dominance. The name of this ancient Prime is hard to translate; their shape is monstrous, a dragon-thing with four limbs and a humanoid upper body, something far more frightening than Airachnid.
And yet, there is peace in their strange face, as though they saw into the spirit of all possible things, and found only kinship there. Their name, the translations offer, might have been Onyx Prime.
well, then, says Optimus, then if its a choice between standing with people consumed by hatred, or to do the impossible, then let them become beasts.
And, as the Autobots work to find a new way to connect the form-finding methods of a body to scan the shapes of other beings, an eccentric engineer named Wheeljack shows up, with a bunch of scrappy kids from Simfur, who suffered hard under the reign of Sentinel, but have had their hearts inspired by the words of Optimus Prime, and the hopes of Primus himself.
They can't transform; no matter what, they can't find a shape that feels right.
"I got an idea," Wheeljack says, holding a fossilized tooth from a distant world that he thinks would make for a great try. The biggest and toughest of the Simfur scrappers takes the tooth.
(They don't call him Grimlock. Not yet.)
He looks at it, as the new system makes its first mode scan, and something in him awakens:
it's like seeing a mirror, and seeing yourself.
As before, in the first generation; as now:
the Dinobots are the first true beastformers.

Rodimus is going to plonk his face on Rosebud. He's got a simfur plush in a strangle hold. He holds it up.
It's ribbon collar is a bit mangled. Hus voice muffled," Can you help me make a proper collar...?"
Overlord had flinched a tad in surprise at the soft plonk of something against his hip plates. Turning around, he noticed Rodimus resting himself against him, a plush in hand. The massive triple changer knelt himself down and reached out, taking a very gentle hold of the little thing in his servos with a soft smile splaying his face.
“Of course dear! We can work on it together. Is there a certain color you’d like for your little friend? And oh! What is this friendly little creature’s name? Do you call it anything?”

Hi! Back on the AU topic!- 👁👁 will you be adding other kingdoms? Other rulers? How big are you expanding this au? Is it gonna be extended to all over Cybertron, like a whole story per kingdom/pairing? Or is it gonna stay centered around JP?
bestie we never left the topic ! i love how you send this when you literally get all this info in dms lmfao (friend just wants me to share the love i see)
anyway, so far all we have is praxus, polyhex, iacon, kaon, simfur, vos and a mention of tyger pax which isn't particularly important. i don't have much of a reason to introduce more kingdoms just yet so for now it's just these seven :'>
i do have rulers established for most kingdoms! polyhex most likely has a very very very old sovereign rn but i do not have anything for simfur as it's not very relevant to the au after the praxian-polyhexian war ends
i'm not sure how exactly i'll be approaching the rest of the au's story, especially in fic, so for now that's focused on j/p but the art side of the au will certainly dabble in other pairings! (and has!) <3 the au would probably have to extend past multiple fics to tell the story properly, and even then, i'm having trouble introducing smokescreen's into the fic and it's grrr idk
my confidence in the fic has lowered to a point where i'm not sure when i'll be able to get back to it, because i'd want to edit previous chapters but that takes a lot of energy and the cringe will demotivate me ahaha </3

Sunstreaker: "It's Iacon's art sector and Kaon's... one of the borders between sectors. The Pits, or at least the state sanctioned arena, connected to Iacon's High Court.
For all the beauty of Iacon, most see it as the colour of life, of the energon that flows through all our lines, but Sides and I saw it for what it was: built out of the energon of the lower class to cushion the lives of the upper class.
Kaon was a... mash of upper and lower class, not that there wasn't a clear disparity. It was a city of production, energon factories run by slavers across the road from high class residences. The building with a single glyph was the slave's housing. Across from it was energon production, where the energon mined was processed into commercial energon. Next to that is where the energon was stored before being shipped out.
The pyramid was the Temple of Primus, where the Primes ruled from. On the Kaon side was... I don't remember, but I think it was Kaon's court. Maybe it was even the Pits that we knew, shielded from aerial view. It was probably the Pits.
It's day time in Iacon and night in Kaon. The binary stars (Alpha Centauri A and B) Cybertron anchored itself to thanks to the Simfur Temple against... a moon (Luna 1) in Kaon's sky."
Sunstreaker: *He pauses to look at the others*
Wulf: "You liked the crystal building, and the park in the middle?"
Sunstreaker: "The park was nice, lots of maintaned... [untranslated]."
Wulf: "Technograss and crystal trees?"
Sunstreaker: "They weren't crystal. Maybe silica? We didn't exactly study biology."
Wulf: "I get it. The museums?"
Sunstreaker: "The three domed buildings are linked. The green building was an art museum, more art history and kept away from natural lights. The building next to it had a clear ceiling, probably made of crystal. The third had a retractable ceiling, it was an observatory. Closed in the day and open at night."
Wulf: "And the crystal building?"
Sunstreaker: "An art museum that always had new exhibits. It was more for the upper class than the other one... It was also where I exhibited my work for a while, before everything went to slag."
Wulf: "The double-helixed building next to it?"
Sunstreaker: "That was the work of some pompous Towers mech. I... don't know much else about it, other than the fact that whoever he commissioned should have done better."
Wulf: "Shoulda commissioned you?"
Sunstreaker: "I don't do architecture. Sides was the more... math-oriented one."
Wulf: "Duly noted." *They look amused* "What about the crystal-shaped buildings?"
Sunstreaker: "The slanted ones were the Towers. The rest were other high class mechs and the largest building was where the Iaconian Council... met? Lived? Never found out."
Wulf: "Might very well have been both. Avengers assemble and all that." *They snicker to themself while Sunstreaker looks confused*
Pyreseus: "Focus, dove. Sunstreaker, anything else you want to say about this piece?"
Sunstreaker: "... No. I've covered everything. It's long gone."
*Wulf blocks the view of Sunstreaker as Pyreseus approaches him*
Wulf: "Right, we were going to put this up on Ko-fi, but Sunny's attached to it so it stays with us! He's drawing up plans for the next one though, which is?"
Sunstreaker: *muffled, out of sight* "Praxus' crystal gardens. The part with specimens from all over Cybertron."
Wulf: "Right! Can't wait to see that, and so far he's been amenable to putting it on Ko-fi, but we'll see. Subject to change. For now, next thing that's definitely going up on Ko-fi when it's done is chibi!Sideswipe pride stickers. Until next time, that's all, folks!"

So, since we're on the cusp of the New Year:
A small, happy headcanon.
Polyhexian festival/celebration music is best described as a fusion of Brazillian Samba + Carnivale with a smattering of Argentinian thrown in. It's very frenetic, very active, and very, very passionate.
Instruments are mostly percussion with some horns and woodwinds, but really - it's anything they can get their hands on. They can make music out of just about anything.
Almost all of them participate in the different festivals around Cybertron, with the most sought-after clades being able to go to places like Iacon and Simfur for certain high-profile parties and celebrations.
Jazz, for instance, has participated in the celebrations that heralded in several Temple Priests in Iacon, as well as a Prime or two.

Diary meme - 6 and 17
6.entry made discussing travel they’ve done or hope to do.
One day I hope to get out of this city and explore the vastness of Cybertron. I've heard the temples in Simfur are really nice, especially the one dedicated to the allspark. Oh maybe I'll get to visit Crystal city! I bet it's beautiful when the light illuminated the buildings. But I can't afford to let up on saving for med school if I have any hopes of becoming a medic. Maybe one day I'll become champion then money would be no issue and I could go and visit and have a proper holiday.
17.entry made featuring joy.
Choya said I'm finally ready to make my debut in the Pits of Kaon! He said he's going to talk to the announcer and have me put in for my first fight in 3 days. I'm so excited! I wonder what kind of beast they'll put me up against, maybe I'll go up against a krystar iron-bear or maybe even a machadron! Whatever it is I'm ready for it and I'm gonna make choya proud! (Choya is Kaonian for Sire)

ok, your mot recent/current fandom interest, any stories you have for that? absolutely doesn't have to be transformers if it aint that
if not then more on the history of your terran predacons au pls <33
Okay so sadly I haven't done anything new recently. Thank Uni for that. But I dived into my files on anything I might've written or anything like that because I haven't picked up a pen of any kind in a while except for that one time I drew one of my ocs that was a product of a jujutsu kaisen fixation. Not to mention the AU I have actually posted about, the Sonic Acaesia one, is very much due for an overhaul especially considering so many things have changed. Like the fact that some characters who were initially part of the main story just aren't anymore.
I scoured through all my files related to transformers so I'll list the stuff down here cause its a couple of little underdeveloped things heh.
So I'll start with this one fic that I'm pretty sure was me venting. It was set tfp times and it was in second pov. I was using the concept of hanahaki's but instead of using it like unrequited feelings, I was using it as a "keep any emotions bottled up and unsaid and boom, coughing up flowers time". I reread it for the first time just now and it did bring out the feels so I'm reserving that for when I'm really Going Through It. Oh and it was called "the weeds in my garden are consuming me".
Here's like a lil excerpt for you lol and yes it was written in second pov because why not
Sadly no new things about my decepticon experiment au. i haven't thought of it for some time now honestly. I've been caught up with a fic that's only kind of doing the same thing so like not in mind at all. It's very much scratching that itch for me and I'm not exactly fully fully into transformers right now so likeeeeee.
BUT! I don't exactly remember what I have said about my predacon au, which should make talking about it easier.
So I should probably preface this by saying that even though I do call this the predacon/dracatron au, they only become a focus in the second arc (i guess) of the story when the Cybertronians that left Cybertron before the war started ended up on Earth. Then in the last arc they be coexisting with the cybertronians and by this point in time the Cybers (Earth-born cybertronians) are also out and about.
I made it a note that out of 13 ships that left cybertron, only ten made it to earth. Each ship came from one of the city states or whatever but did NOT name their new settlements after where there were from, yknow new settlements and all. However, those from off world do still go by the cities they know. For example Beatpulse is from Praxus so she is still known as Beatpulse of Praxus. When she changed her name to Kardia, she's known as Kardia of Notion. If that makes sense. Situations like Kardia only happen to those that changed their name, something something new starts. But aside from that usually you can tell if a mech is a Cybertronian or a Cyber based off which cities they go by. As much as I'd like to say it doesn't cause divide sometimes, it does.
Here's the cities and their earth equivalents:
Kaon -> Quantum
Iacon -> Vertex
Praxus -> Notion
Polyhex -> Neural
Altihex -> Neurone
Crystal City -> Diamond
Vos -> Ambit
Simfur -> Helix
Tarn -> Patron
Kalis -> Prism
I also kinda just took the concept of city-speakers and just made it my own. Something something over time the meaning of words and titles change. A rhetoric arose when they arrived on earth that essentially meant that the city is the people not the place. So a city-speaker is literally just a political position where they speak for their people in a sort of council. I don't know politics so I'm just leaving it at that. Diamond's city-speaker shenanigans are usually top gossip because every time elections come round something unorthodox happens over there.
I wish I was brave enough to write for this AU because it's one of the AUs i come back to mentally the most. The Sonic Acaesia AU is still like my biggest AU but again that's due for an overhaul - that happens every few years since its been simmering in my brain for so long (please if your interested send me questions i got a lot to say about it). But I digress.
Going back to the arcs, arc 1 is mainly in the perspective of Beatpulse and her life on cybertron. It came about when I was thinking of how other mechs were living whilst Megatron was protesting in the beginning like before everything hit the fan. Specifically a mech (Beatpulse in this case) wanting to learn about something that had nothing to do with her place on Cybertron. And obviously the chaos that ensues because of it.
Arc 2 is when they've reached Earth as I've mentioned early but this is the main bit where it is loosely inspired by HTTYD. I have to figure out how they are even THERE before any mechs had officially arrived but technically speaking the dracatron business is a side story in this arc. This doesn't take place in the settlement Beatpulse, who is now Kardia at this point, is a part of. But that doesn't mean she never makes an appearance ^-^. This arc follows a mech a part of the first wave of Cybers that hit these cities.
I will say though the dracatrons here are in abundance and they've been on the planet for a hot minute. I'm torn between a shockwave-esque reason as to why they are there, or some of them were preserved on cybertron and just sent of alongside one of them information pods seen in tfp, or just go the whole unicron is a planet thing and since energon is in abundance it is not farfetched to believe it was an energy source for something from the get. I will decide someday lol.
Arc 3 is... the least thought out currently. All I do know is that Cybers are everywhere at this point, there are invaders from the stars, Diamond has a new city-speaker, the mech from arc 2 is also a city-speaker, and this arc is, i think, my first proper attempt at a dark turn for a story. Usually I can't deal with crazy shit in my stories since I'm here for a fun time, but this is where my inspiration drawn from the movie Nine comes in and it's actually kinda horrific. Heh it's not a fun story. But it isn't exactly out there in terms of the plots when it comes to Transformers. I do know how that Arc ends. Maybe one day I'll write these out.
But yeah my aus concerning transformers. Sorry this took like a decade to respond I've been floating about sorta. It's been rough out here. Hope you enjoyed!
#silveranswers#mutuals#transformers au#predacon dracatron#decepticon experiment AU mention in 2024. wild#again sorry for taking ten years lmao

eleven whole ask dumps
that’s a LOT! topics this time are: survivalists, cavemen, survival tv shows, Bloodron, plantformers, food storage, eating underwater, beast mode mouths, Rodimus and Abominus and flammability, and Rock Lords
as a matter of fact yes! it’s sort of difficult, because it’s a labor intensive process to mine, purify, distill, and store enough energon and other foodstuffs all by yourself unless your alt mode is like an energon refinery or something. so it isn’t a quick and easy solution for just anybody who has issues with the current regime. as it stands, it’s genuinely easier and safer for many junkers to hang around in the city than it is to rough it in the wilds, otherwise they’d be gone in a heartbeat.
but!
there’s certainly been folks who prefer roughing it to living in civilization. this has been true throughout history and isn’t specifically driven by the corruption of the Stratocracy. a popular counterculture in Kup’s youth was spelunkers/squatters who would specifically seek out old buried ruins and underground places to live in, like cavemen if you will, just because they could. there are antisocial folks and hermits and extreme introverts who would rather homestead than deal with anyone in their vicinity. there’s one crazy kook of a dedicated scientist in particular that i am still waffling about actually showing in SNAP’s storyline, but old gramma Glyph is definitely still kicking somewhere in the Forbidden Zone and has been since before size classes became a thing! she would absolutely fill the role this ask describes (not the same Glyph as the JAAT student, mind you, it’s just another common name)
there are still people who live in caves. no, not the folks i mentioned in the above answer, i mean like there are entire underground cities and everything. there’s a lot of stuff down there anyway! living underground is not unusual on Cybertron and a good percentage of infrastructure and industry isn’t even visible from the surface in some places
that said, there is archaeological evidence that the original Cybertronian civilizations actually developed below ground and migrated upward/outward! First City, a set of ruins swallowed by the Rust Sea, is the aptly named earliest appearance of a proper settlement aboveground, but it shows evidence of being a base camp before a proper city, and contains artifacts and materials thought to have been taken from belowground before being put in the city. the entire concept of Simfur was of a holy temple city that was already supposed to be underground before some great cataclysm sundered it so far beneath the surface that not even its original inhabitants could find it. so “cavepeople” were, in a way, the default from which mecha have branched out from to live on the surface
and re: eating mechanimals, that’s definitely a (relatively) recent cultural value, and it isn’t even universal. there’s been people eating mechanimals throughout history, and likewise there have been people squeamish and disapproving about it for just as long. the current social climate is disapproving, but that’s variable depending on when and where you look into history
fsdfhgljfsdghfk yknow what sure. on Carcer and Eukaris specifically because these are the cultures i think would be into that. the more widespread popular version of this is probably space travel survival instead of on-planet wilderness. like can you pilot a ship for a vorn with limited supplies out into the black and make it to your destination with minimal contact kind of challenge. not unlike those solo sailing challenges i suppose
okay so this was a joke ask from Jensen that has now fleshed out a piece of SNAP history thanks
Bloodron was a tyrant of Caminus during the Prime Wars who took over after the murder of the previous de facto Camien leaders, Solus Prime’s children Magnum and Pyra (the original Magnus and Mistress of Flame, respectively). he was successful where other conquerors had not been in part because of his ruthless execution of the original usurpers who murdered the twins, instead of trying to pander and please. while his methods were cruel, he was debatably the safest option for leadership at the time and was instrumental in putting down further unrest on the colony as even Cybertron was swallowed by chaos. he and his enemy/conjunx/??? Convoy (a name at this point, not yet a fancy title) worked together to thwart scheming insurrectionists vying for power amongst their familial and political blocs, which resulted in a mostly unified culture for Caminus many centuries later and gave them a legacy of being a very strong, put-together colony. the academic community remembers him and his period of history with mixed feelings. while what he did for Caminus was pretty good, all things considered, he was not exactly a good person himself
excellent questions!! i think the only plantformer i’ve got in my cast list atm is Botanica so i won’t have a lot of examples here. unlike beastformers looking like mechanimals, not a lot of plantformers actually take after a specific species of cyberflora. most seem to generate their own unique specimen, although in root mode many of them are quintoid frametypes
since cyberflora grow out of/need to be rooted to some kind of hotspots, plantformers often have very strong sparks, or at least a very high degree of energy cycling, and act as their own personalized hotspot. this gives them quicker and better than average healing, but it does mean they have a higher metabolism. some of them have alt modes that can process energon and/or package it. these are considered “fruit bearing” cyberflora alt modes, and are often given fuel processing functions much like vending machine, distillery, or refinery alt mode. this is really the only kind of food you’ll get from a plantformer, even though actual cyberflora are used for food in many many more ways than just energon fruit. most plantformer alt mode products won’t be eaten and are instead used in their function’s industry, or perhaps as a rare and expensive knick-knack in the same vein as some kind of handmade collector’s item
their mobility isn’t usually very high, in keeping with how most cyberflora function. filling a niche in the ecosystem may look like sifting metal, crystallizing minerals, conducting and rerouting electricity, or another small but significant part of planetary upkeep. as such, the majority of plantformers have alt modes designed to slot into a given environment where they can participate in the ecosystem, often moving only at the whims of their environment. a heavily cabled transmission tower tree meant to fit in amongst buzzing mangroves will have flexible bases and strong grounding roots as it connects to other trees with its cables. a lone lightning rod pine out on the prairie will have similar grounding roots that go even deeper and broader, meant to conduct lightning all the way to a planetary leyline, and windmill sequoias have perhaps the sturdiest, broadest trunks to brace their height against the movement of their milling boughs. on the opposite end of the spectrum, tangled cable tumbleweeds can unplug at any moment and be set adrift to seek out any new crevice or cranny to worm its wires into. it really depends on the plantformer’s individual alt mode. Botanica has root cabling to keep her steady when in alt mode, but her leaves and boughs are still mobile
this actually has less to do with stuff like mold or sour milk and more to do with expiring chemicals, decaying materials, and loss of charge. the point of energon is how it inherently carries a charge instead of just being burnt for power, but if you leave energon or batteries or what have you for too long, it’ll lose that charge. maybe it can be recharged, but you’ve lost an important part of your fuel just from waiting too long. undercharged energon is better than nothing, but it won’t fix your lethargy. expired chemicals can either be inert and useless or highly flammable/explosive/dangerous in some way depending on what it is and what kind of reaction it had over time. you don’t really wanna raid the pantry and pick up something that explodes in your hand because it expired a month ago. and decay isn’t always bad, with stuff like steel woolies turning into rust bunnies, but if you’re need an iron meal and instead find just a hunk of corroded rusty junk, that’s not gonna meet your nutritional needs. proper food storage is about minimizing corrosion and decay, preserving or restoring charge, and preventing adverse chemical reactions when possible, as well as keeping out pests like scraplets
that said, i think edible-grade energon can retain its charge for... at least a good while? it’ll longer than a month and still be a full meal, i’d say, if it’s just straight liquid energon on a regular charge. that’s why it’s kept in glass despite its delicacy, since glass isn’t a good conductor. so community pantries, dead drops, hideyholes and such are all fairly effective as long as everyone remembers to keep the spaces pretty clean and make sure nothing gets left too long, which is never a problem
ummmm.... hm. this is an off the wall question. i guess i think it would be weird and difficult. like, could you eat underwater?? could you take a bite of like i dunno what’s something that doesn’t instantly fall apart in water..... a candy cane? could you safely eat a candy cane underwater? probably yes if you were very careful to keep your throat closed and also try to force out all the water in your mouth before chewing and swallowing, but it would be hard. mecha aren’t in danger of choking/drowning like humans, and it’s safe to assume that if they’re already underwater then they probably have the seals for it, but still consuming a lot of water isn’t great for a mechanical species, and it’s not easy to make sure you’re not swallowing that along with your food
oh sure, like they’re perfectly functional mouths and all, the issue is just the connection to the fuel systems. no throat, as it were. whereas the folks who can eat in beast modes essentially have two esophagi that rearrange depending on what mode they’re in. for folks like Strafe who have intact beast heads in root mode, it’s possible they can use their jaw? like she in particular uses them as a second set of unwieldy hands, but a pocket is a good idea too, or a can opener, etc etc. chewing food just to spit it back out is probably something only a very determined person with a specific food craving is going to do, because most folks who aren’t able to chew would just get silted shakes to sip with a straw
oh all the time. Rodimus’s whole THING is setting himself on fire and just throwing himself into the fray. like that one Denethor scene in LOTR but madly cackling. he only bothers showing some finesse when around Drift who he wants to impress clearly requires more careful application of skill to beat. Abominus can’t set himself on fire like Rodimus can, but he can shoot flames from his beast head and will fan them higher with his wings, which means he can essentially generate a firestorm to stand in if necessary that will drive everyone else away. Elita 5 has some immunity to flame too as a pyrokinetic hero, but is in fact still vulnerable to heat unlike the other two. she won’t get scorched, but she does need to watch her temperature
in general mecha aren’t like extremely flammable, they have much much higher heat contact tolerance than humans, but ironically have lower atmospheric heat tolerance, because the majority of them use air cycling for cooling systems and so hot weather makes them overheat easily. buncha pansy computers. but they’ll think nothing of holding an open flame, picking up embers right from a fire, ducking through a burning doorway, setting off firecrackers in their hands, etc. their caution is more about smoke and soot clogging vents, or discolored paint, or getting dents from small explosions than actually burning. they start endangering themselves when the heat gets high enough to overtake their cooling systems or melt their kibble, or has enough force to punch like in an explosion, but even then they can struggle through until actual vital internal components are compromised, at which point they’re in danger of catching fire themselves. energon isn’t super flammable when in a controlled environment like their insides, and a liquid trail can catch fire, but it’ll take a mortal wound to really get someone burning up inside
hhhmmmmmmmmm i... don’t think i’m going to use them in SNAP, or at least this storyline. i’d probably make them extraterrestrial creatures sort of like what they were in TFA. they’d fit in with stories of demons and invaders for sure

Orphanage AU: Jazz is looking for his creations. His former mate thought he was dead (mission took longer than expected etc.) and just tossed the sparklings out on the street, sold the house and all of Jazz's possessions and ran off into the night. Sideswipe and Sunstreaker ended up in the orphanage in the custody of a weird Praxian. Prowl is protecting the orphanage from the city rulers who would love to sell off the land it is build on, by out-bureaucracying them.
Prowl is good at what he does. Praxian owning land and an orphanage in Iacon/Polyhex or Simfur is a bit weird but... cool.
Jazz has lots of proof he's the geni and they would be ecstatic to see their geni again so a very happy reunion all around.
Of course they insist on coming back to visit their other brothers and sisters.

Another stupid little list to add to this blog, except this times its cities and some territories Feel free to send me corrections and information Everything I have found is based on the Transformers Wiki and may be unclear or incorrect- but it's really all I got. Key Codes: All information with unclear sources will be marked with a (?) All Transformers Wiki Information will be marked with a (W) All information that comes from comics will be (C) All information that comes from episodes will be (E) Other sources will be granted (OH)
Other information I've noticed x BW uprising and IDW show up a lot City Borders (will be written. eventually.) Vos (W) "Vos is one of Cybertron's many city-states. It borders Tarn, presumably close to Iacon's borders. Vos is rich in energy sources, granting it independence from the other city-states." -(W) Continuities: UK Marvel, Official Gen 2 Annual, 2005 IDW, Beastwars Uprising, WFC trilogy, 2021 IDW Beast Wars, Live-Action, Aligned Novels Yuss (W) "Yuss is a small town in the Stanix region of Cybertron. Yuss is a peaceful town largely untouched by war (Stanix was conquered early in the war and the Decepticons moved on). Its inhabitants go about their simple lives in and around the village, clothed in colorful metallic fabrics. Four million years ago, Yuss was located just three hics from Fort Scyk. Because transformation was invented at the outset of the war which quickly passed them by, it is likely that the inhabitants of Yuss did not have the ability to transform. In the modern era, Yuss is deep within the Acid Wastes." -(W) Continuities: Marvel The Transformers, 2005 IDW, Ask Vector Prime, TFA, Beast Wars uprising, 2019 IDW Locations: The Amprodome, Justice Building Acid Wastes (W) Not a city per-say, but worth mentioning "The Acid Wastes span most of the Stanix region in south-west Cybertron. They are a blasted, unforgiving landscape; contaminated by neutronic fallout, wracked by earthquakes, freak weather conditions, and of course acid rain. The neutronic fallout in the Acid Wastes can produce severe allergic reactions in some Transformers." -(W) Continuities: Marvel The Transformers, 2005 IDW, 2015 RID, RID shorts, Cyberverse
Protihex (W) "Protihex is one of Cybertron's many city-states and spans the Sector Six-Zero or Sector Zero-Six area. It neighbors one or more of the following city-states: Iacon, Uraya, and Praxus, making it a candidate for the city-states the Tri-Torus Loop leads to. Also, it just might be located above the Well of All Sparks." -(W) Continuities: Dreamwave G1, 2005 IDW, Beastwars Uprising, WFC trilogy, Live Action, TFA Locations: An Autobot Command post, Protihex Medical Mechanics University Uraya (W) "Uraya is one of Cybertron's city-states. It is the largest of the Tri-Peninsular Torus States, and borders Iacon, Altihex, and the Neutral Territories" -(W) Continuities: Dreamwave G1, 2005 IDW, Beast Wars Uprising, 2019 IDW, WFC trilogy marketing, Live-Action, Exodus Simfur (W) "Simfur is a city on Cybertron, located nearby Metrotitan." -(W) Continuities: Live-action, Live-Action comics, Aligned Cont Family, Beast Wars Uprising Locations: Simfur Temple I have like 100 more entries to write down the info for and frankly I'm getting bored so I'm listing names here until I can get to them Polyhex | Rust Sea | Nova Cronum | Thunderhead Pass | Tagan Heights | Praxus | Kalis | Crystal City | Helex | Stanix | Tesarus | Thetacon | Tarn | Iacon | Gygax | Ankmor | Altihex | Axiom Nexus | Mebion

Realizing after however many years that I should probably make a pinned post with links to my sideblogs so that people don't have to like... Type in the url themself from my profile. Oops. Anyways.
@sasaranurude - my most active sideblog, for anime and manga and mobile games and undefinable "2D character projects". Lately, that means mahoyaku, heliosR, charisma house, and idolish7. Sometimes I read and sort-of-review (official localizations of) BL and GL manga. I like to complain about media translations with a sense of completely unearned confidence.
@simfur - my transformers sideblog. Less active these days.
@shang-bu-huan - my Thunderbolt Fantasy sideblog. "Why is this separate from the anime blog" I MADE THE TBF BLOG FIRST, OKAY
This blog @mochlus is my main, so likes will come from here. Mostly here I reblog jokes and art and complain about my life, but sometimes there's also paleontology or star trek or monster video games. My AO3 is nichelium, but if you're here for fic-stuff, you're more likely to find it on my anime blog where I talk about the stuff I write fic for.

Transformers AU where Transformers cannot change the basic shape of their alt mode, which is determined by a very complex number of factors based on their environment, the terrain they live in, their lineage (which is itself a complex factor because they reproduce in extremely complex ways) and more, but the end result is that they can ADAPT their forms to things around them, but they can’t completely alter what they are except through surgical means, which is considered incredibly extreme and equivalent to gender reassignment surgeries. Some approve of it, some don’t, but it is usually considered a very important identity detail to want a particular form badly enough to go through this process.
A truck-type transformer can’t become a car. They can’t become a plane, or a submarine, or a boat, or a spaceship; they might become a semi-truck, or a flatback truck, because these are close enough to their native Cybertronian forms that they can mimic these things, but they can’t outright bend it out of shape.
And the whole point here is that a beastformer cannot be anything but a beast.
Exactly how they feel about this varies from one to the other. Some are proud of their shapes, particularly in those from the city-state of Simfur which in this context is presumably populated heavily by beastformers. Others, in the modern day of the Autobots, regard being a beastformer as not really any different from being any other alt mode; in their modern culture, all are equal regardless of the utility of their forms.
Those from older generations, though, remember a different kind of Cybertron. They remember the functionalist era, when to assume the shape of a beast was to be a beast.
To be legally designated as an animal. A thing. Below even the ranks of the disposable castes, to be designated as aberrant animals flawed enough to intrude on the domain of true Cybertronians, allowed to live only as attack dogs and killing machines in Functionalist-dominant regions. They were treated as monsters by every corner of society, and it was drilled into their heads.
Some of them really let it sink in, growing bitter and angry and determined to think: well, if the world treats them like animals, and will never allow them to be anything but monsters born to kill with nothing else they’re good for, then they’ll slagging well act like monsters. This may be a valid origin for the Dinobots, and Grimlock in particular; centuries if not even longer of rage building up and up, and when the Autobots rebelled he let it loose, and when the Decepticons rose up to ensnare the galaxy in tyranny he turned it against them, and he’s just been unleashing that fire over and over again for eons, with no end in sight. Maybe he hates himself. Maybe on some level he internalized the idea that he is a monster, a thing with claws and fangs and no wheels or engines; if an alt mode is a purpose, what purpose has a terror-beast but to kill other Cybertronians?
But this ultimately amounts to a digression. What this boils down to, is this:
When you call a beastformer a furry, and thus implying that they chose to transform into beasts (whether that is a native mechanical-like form, or the use of Pretender technology to disguise themselves as the fauna of a world), at BEST you’re probably insulting them on some level. At worst you might get hit while they start snarling ‘you think I CHOSE to be a slaggin’ ANIMAL??’ and at worst, you might just end up ripped into pieces. (And to refer to Onyx Prime, oft worshiped by beastformers as the progenitor of all things monstrous and yet loving them all even as the Functionalists decried them, as a furry is deeply sacrilegious and insulting. The Black Prime did not choose to be all beasts in one, they simply are.)
The most angry among them decided a long time ago that if they’re legally treated as animals, might as well act like it. That doesn’t go away even after the perpetrators are long dead.
