Years ago I made this region to test new plugins and mods and it's kind of a rough, hot mess express--but lately i've grown to like the hap-hazard, organic grids and I sometimes will tun SC4 on and just watch the cars, buses, taxis and ferries move around and sometimes I'll do something super simple--like build a football or baseball field, or even just a few bus stops. I don't get into many big projects anymore--I feel like I've become a simcity retiree.
Help, I am got myself 'The Sims 2' & 'SimCity 4' now.
What is nostalgia doing to me right now is amazing. Can't wait to study & customize as to really get a nice starting point for my constructed world simulations... (I have yet to reach the atlas/QGIS/full-3D-game stage but ya, it's getting closer and closer by each week)
Any suggestions for the Sims 3 & 4 content to try? I oftentimes want to DIY everything but wouldn't mind suggestions for a handful of short test runs on creative worldbuilding in games like such...
As for the mega campaign (historical timelapses, solo roleplays & other timeline-y videos) to start with Civ 5, it is still in the works. I just got to pick choose and customize my Civ5/FreeCiv experience as to optimize it for my retro-compute renders.
Until we meet again, enjoy some secondary Helluva Boss OC made in a dressup game:
✨ simcity4 file so you can see the full map, i tried really hard to make bridges work but for whatever reason it just wouldn't - so the NEW LORE is that Aster's Archipelago used to be one island. Due to disagreements, the townspeople of each respective half of the island decided to separate, permanently. They dug deep ditches and invited the sea into them. Eventually the years went by and the people who lived there no longer remembered why they would ever want to separate in the first place. Can they ever find a way to become a community again? ✨
P.S SEND ME A SCREENSHOT OF UR BUILDS!!! 🙂 i wanna see how u make it ur own
I can't get SimCity4 to work from Steam for the life of me, so I'm going to impart my idea onto the much more tech-savvy simmers of Tumblr.
I am surprised nobody has given a go at a 'King's Landing' terrain for TS2. My hope was to create a map similar to the examples above, to get as close enough as possible to that city layout. It's a huge task and I had hoped to do it myself.
It would obviously require a bit of tweaking, probably more of a square shape and with less winding roads (and more roads in general if you wanted to create an immersive cityscape). I leave this kernel for anyone who does have SimCity4 and might want to bless us all in future!
realized I had simcity4 on steam as part of a pack I bought awhile back. I've had a craving for a city building game awhile and just not decided what to buy so this is great news
Some (two different) grand strategy playthroughs in the meantime.
Edit #1
So yep, things go smooth here. With so much scientific + cultural progress per turn, just got to be weary of my reputation / prestige for immersive purposes by not taking foreign cities until at least 1910 or ideally 2050-something (aka when the second stage of the campaign unfolds, the infamous "occupy the world" one I set myself every so often)
Also got my list of worldwide cultures (closely related but not the same as Civilizations nor ancestries) amongst a couple more statistics to lean towards for the constructed world I work on.
