I’ve been wanting to try storytelling for awhile but I have no idea how to do things? Or where to start. I’m a bit of a perfectionist so I’ve mainly kept my stories and ideas to myself. Do you have any advice on how to start?

i have a bunch of storytelling tips in my advice tag, but the absolute best advice i can give you is to literally just start. try your hardest to let go of your perfectionist tendencies and remind yourself that this is a hobby and a creative/emotional outlet, not a job. the only person you need to cater to is yourself!! it always kills my soul to see someone give up on storytelling because they were too hard on themselves or compared themselves to other people and got discouraged. you have to be willing to be "bad" at something before you can ever become good at it (i have my gripes with calling art bad/good anyway but you know what i mean)

if you're anything like me, you'll probably be frustrated by the limitations of sim stories in the beginning. there were so many ideas i had to abandon because i didn't know how to make poses, objects, tattoos, etc. to make my visions come true. over the years i've learned SO MANY other skills that have helped me with storytelling, but you have to be patient with yourself and learn things one at a time. i have seen people get overwhelmed by trying to learn everything all at once and they think there's something wrong with them for not "getting it", when the truth is that a ton of us on simblr have been practicing for YEARS and are still learning every day (i've been here for six years and there's still so much stuff i'm in awe of people being able to do, because i have no idea how!) it's cheesy to say, but this is an art form like any other; we all start out with limited abilities and we develop more over time (example...)

to wrap this up: i would LOVE to see more new stories on simblr and i hope you'll give it a shot!! i would love to help you start in any way i can. if you need advice, if you need someone to make you some custom cc (within my skill set lol), quick poses, or editing help, etc. i would genuinely love to help you out. i would also love to just talk to you about your story/characters if you need someone to bounce ideas off of!! 💖

💌 simblr asks: what EP and/or GP would you like to see in the future?

I’m afraid the EP/GP ideas I’m most excited about might have both been made moot (or a lot less likely) by recent/future kit releases.

I would LOVE to see a past decades throwback type theme for a pack, whether that’s by a full-on time travel EP (didn’t go that well in TS3 I don’t think but who knows?) or some kind of “back in my day” elders-oriented GP. Y’know, landlines and rotary phones, newspapers, hat boxes, jell-o salads, an old timey fixer-upper car—sims team, I am begging you. If anything, the Basement Treasures kit only makes me want it more. 😭

I would also still love to see a band pack of some sort. Something that gives us the ability to have sims play music together, with a few new instruments thrown in! Absolutely a drum kit and bass guitar, but also like, I don’t know, a saxophone? (I mean we only have 37 basegame saxophone signs and paintings…) Cello? An accordion? Banjo? Bagpipes???

I imagine musical instruments are quite time and resource intensive to create so even if we do someday get a band pack, it’ll probably just be some drums and a few new guitar or guitar-adjacent objects. But I can dream! 😆

My name is Kajsa (swedish kid here) and I’m new here in Tumblr (or Simblr?). I’ve been a sims player for several years now, but I’ve never really been part of the sims community since I would only hop in with my main account @kajsainpictures to download cc or get some inspiration. Hi! I'm Bre (she/her), and l've been lurking on simblr for a while. I’m a digital artist whose always been in love with the sims. Started with MySims, then got the sims apps on my iPad which eventually led to me begging my parents for the Sims 4 on pc. Ive discovered mods and cc within the last 3 months and I’m obsessed. I've used this platform to find cc but found gameplay posts and fell in love. This is Gracelyn Reins. She’s the first in the first gen of my legacy challenge, which will really test my self control to stay with it lmfao. Her and her sisters were orphaned when Gracelyn was just a teen, leaving her to attend high school and work part time while making sure her little sister is taken care of. 1. What’s your favourite sims death? Okay so I looked at a video of all the deaths and there are SO many I had no idea about?? My sims never die of anything but old age, but getting killed by a rabbit is fucking hilarious to me

2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match? Maxis Match! I used to use alpha, but it just looked very out of place for me and I switched many years ago.

3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? Absolutely not. For me, I like to play the sims as realistic as possible and make my sims as realistic as possible (while still having the goofiness of the sims of course) and none of my sims that I create and/or play with are made to fit a specific standard. All of my sims are beautiful in their own unique way 🥰

4. Do you use move objects? I only use move objects

5. Favorite mod? Woohoo Wellness and Pregnancy Overhaul - It adds so much realism and I adore every aspect of this mod

If there's a way to fix genetics, I unfortunately am unaware of it. Unless I find out how to do that, it's not possible for me to make it genetic.

It's impossible to make a preset that adds more body parts, that's why so many of my presets remove or reduce the number, since that's all that can be done. Adding more body parts is left to the realm of stick-on cc parts. Zaneida has some good cc including extra eyes, extra arms, and stuff like that. Lots of other people have made 3rd eye cc as well, including Valhallan and Gerbithats, off the top of my head.

As for sending images: generally, on simblr, folks will make a post with their images and tag the cc creators (or other users) that they'd like, using the @ symbol followed by their username. eg @ssspringroll . That will send the tagged user a notification that they were mentioned in a post.

justice for raj rasoya - a quick rant about townie makeovers

so i was casually scrolling on my dash and i saw someone playing with the city living townies. i was appalled when i realized that one of these sims was intended to be raj rasoya, a sikh chef living in the spice market of san myshuno. the sim in the post looked drastically different to raj, he was barely recognizable until i checked the tags. i then began looking at his tag on tumblr, and it’s lowkey making me sick to my stomach.

i don’t know why i’m uncomfortable with this, or it it’s just me but it’s so unsettling to see people either white wash, slim down, or remove raj’s turban when they make him over. i don’t understand the need that people have to change raj into something completely unrecognizable because he doesn’t fit western beauty standards. why must we make him have a chiseled bod and lightly tanned skin? why do we feel the need to make his nose smaller and remove his nose bridge? why do we feel the need to remove his turban?

the turban and even the kara (bracelet raj and geeta wear) are both symbols of their faith. it begs me to ask the question, would the perpetrators that have white washed raj do the same to an EA townie that’s hijabi? probably not - at least, i would hope not. 

this is weird and lowkey not okay. it’s quite clear that EA intended for the rasoyas to be sikh. why are we trying to erase their ethnic features and backgrounds?

now before you guys come at me, i’m going to say that - it’s your game i’m not policing you - however, i am pointing out how weird and disrespectful it comes across to actively erase the features and religious qualities of townies that were specifically given these identities.

SIMBLR CANNOT STAY SILENT ANY LONGER ABOUT BULLIES.

The TRANS MAN (Bucky) that Cowbuild misgendered and deadnamed....who Cowbuild has continually insisted is me, and doesn't exist. [When there is PLENTY of evidence otherwise] has been constantly harrassed by anon haters since coming out and speaking his part about how Cowbuild abused him. Because it IS abuse. Bucky was vulnerable with the community and spoke openly about having a very rare disease that makes him vulnerable to wanting to hurt themselves. He shared how Cowbuild's words DEEPLY affected him. He shared how he wants Cowbuild to remove the transphobic and hateful comments. And he stood up against his bully and abuser. Then, he comes to this community, a community he thinks will understand what he has gone through, and he makes a simple request for help using a gofundme in relation to two sick puppies. He offers, the ENTIRE TIME to provide proof if needed, and tells people they don't have to give if they don't want to. One of his puppies ends up passing away, which is a heartbreaking thing for any pet owner to go through. Again, he offers proof of this.

Instead of understanding, he gets CONSTANT hateful comments in his ask box, with people using anons and burner accounts. People accusing him of trying to scam for money using a fake story. And even people telling him to hurt himself, and suggesting ways to take his life. All while simblr was silent.

This is the lowest the community has ever come. I have been reblogging, and tagging, and screaming and trying to get people to listen and only a few people have had the nerve to remotely say anything. I am making this post hoping it's becauase people don't understand the situation, rather than they don't care because it doesn't "effect" them. The most recent post on bucky's (@victimofcowbuild's) tumblr is written by his husband. Because Bucky cannot post at the moment. Because they attempted to harm themselves last night and are not mentally able to handle being on tumblr. I am not going to go into the details of WHAT happened, but I do want simblr to know that between all of the anon hate, and people not speaking up and telling the bullies to stop it this is the result. The breaking point came when someone decided to circumvent Bucky's ask box and send an ask to @littleblackbooksims calling Bucky a scammer. Bucky then posted a screenshot of their vet bill, leaving the name of the vet uncensored. Telling people they could call the vet's office and confirm if a dog with the name "Fleetwood" was treated there. I have confirmation from Bucky's husband that the vet's office was spammed with harrassing calls. The vet's office has record of this, and is keeing record of it. Bucky's husband also allowed us [bucky's friends] to make statements trying to raise awareness in the community as long as we were respectful. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THESE ANON ACCOUNTS AND ASKS THAT HAVE BEEN PESTERING BUCKY ARE PART OF THE PRO-PAYWALL MAFIA GROUP THAT WE EXPOSED. 1) Because Bucky did not receive anon hate until he started calling out Cowbuild and sharing his story. 2) Because some of these SAME accounts that have been circumventing anon asks being turned off are the same accounts that tried to blackmail me and bully me when I spoke out. They have been harrassing me for a while now. 3) Because this is the M.O of the paywalling side of the argument. I have been dealing with anon/sock account shit for almost 2 years now.

I AM BEGGING YOU SIMBLR, PLEASE REBLOG AND SHARE THIS. LET THE COMMUNITY KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT OKAY. THIS IS NO LONGER PAYWALLS VS NO PAYWALLS. THIS IS NOT CREATOR VS CONSUMER. THIS IS NOT ALPHA VS MAXIS. THIS IS NOT POINTLESS DRAMA. THIS IS SOMEONE'S LIFE ALMOST ENDING BECAUSE TOXIC ASS PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY DECIDED TO HIDE BEHIND ANON ASKS AND SOCK ACCOUNTS AND BULLY THEM.

You can hate me and what I stand for, you can not care about CC, you can think simblr drama is fucking pointless. But this is not drama. I’d like to let my followers know a little bit about the type of Simblr I am.

First and foremost, hello! My name is Savannah and I’ve been a member of this community for almost 10 years. I’m a wife and mother. I’m addicted to The Sims CC, music, books and history. I’m goofy and random and I swear A LOT. I hope you enjoy my content. Remember to please be respectful as I won’t hesitate to block anyone trying to start drama. I’m too old for that shit.

This post will be long and I’m sorry in advance.

I came to Simblr almost 10yrs ago looking for CC and fell in love with this community. I planted my own roots here and I’ve connected with some absolutely awesome and nicest individuals all over the planet. I ended up burning myself out of The Sims for awhile (and my son spilled soda in my gaming PC and it just died). I didn’t mean to stay gone as long as I did but life just got in the way of free time. In my absence, many of my favorite simmers have deleted or has gone MIA and I really miss them all. I’ve got so many great memories here. Simblr today is definitely not the same as it once was.

I have ALWAYS encouraged others to be their most creative self whether that be editing in photoshop, digital painting to creating Sims CC. It’s not very mature to call other people’s work “ugly” or discourage their creativity as they probably worked hard on it.

I’ve ALWAYS responded to every message and ask (except for rude/drama ones) and have done my best to keep up with post replies and tracked CC down for WCIF’s. If you have a question, don’t hesitate to ask!

Any CC I’ve created and shared has always been FREE and always been credited. I always tried to release some sort of CC as a way of saying “thank you for following me.” I will never guilt or beg anyone to download or use my CC.

I will NEVER ask you to send me money, donate or charge for any CC I may put out.

I’ve never once been rude to someone who wasn’t rude to me from the start. If you can’t show me respect, you don’t deserve mine.

I have NEVER and WILL NEVER participate in the drama plaguing this community (you can go through my posts to verify). I might post about where I stand in a certain situation but I’ll never actively engage in the back and forth bullshit. All I want to do is play The Sims, download and share awesome CC, meet nice simmers and see how different others play compared to how I play.
