any current crafting project you'd like to share making of pics? ❤

I do have a few projects I'm currently playing around with... 🤔

The first is playing with fimo clay. We used to do lots of stuff with polymer clay when I was a kid/teen, but I haven't used it for decades.

But I wanted to try making a hairpiece to match a sparkly necklace of mine, so I bought some translucent fimo to experiment a bit. (You've already seen this one, I know, but it is one of my current creative projects! It counts!)

First experiment: pretty successful! (I had the hairstick from before) Hopefully I can scrape together the spoons to make some more elaborate designs!

I know you've seen these, too, but I want to show them off, so...

Experimenting with shrinkydinks, also for the first time in over a decade! Made a set of shimmery dragonfly wings - maybe I'll even figure out what to use them for at some point... 😂

Here's another project from just the other day - my first time experimenting with wire+nail polish flowers!

I only had clear nail polish at home, so I'll probably test either painting it or getting more nail polish in more fun colours.

This is a craft I've seen around for years and wanted to try one day, and finally got around to it! Not too shabby for a first try! I may try making more!

Finally, this. First experiment in carving/painting a sheet of translucent white plastic that I'll use to make a ceiling light! Picture to the left is lit from the front, picture to the right is lit from behind.

This was just a test-run, I still need to tweak parts of the process to get the look I want, but the goal is to make something inspired by Tiffany stained glass. We'll see how it goes! Wish me luck!

Speaking as a (currently retired) illustrator of children’s books, this is so important!

One of the things I’ve gotten the most positive feedback on is how I designed the love interest Princess in a queer retelling of Cinderella that I worked on:

She’s big, she’s brown, she’s radiant. And people loved her.

Here's another diverse crowd I had tons of fun with, from a gender-swapped Beauty and the Beast book from the same series:

Both the transformed-back Beast and Beauty’s mom are big women, but of different body types. There are some bigger guys in the background, too, and people with big natural hair, sleek hair, no hair, tons of different sorts of bodies, skin tones, genders - and they’re all fucking gorgeous.

I think these books are only currently published in Swedish, but I really hope the publisher will translate and release them internationally one day.

The Bloodbath Gwyndolin bashes Pate's head in with a mace. Velstadt accidently steps on a landmine. Day 1 Horace sets an explosive off, killing Gough, Gwyn, Paladin Leeroy and Sieglinde. Nito dies from thirst. Gwyndolin shoots an arrow into Anri's head. Night 1 No deaths occurred. Day 2 No deaths occurred. Night 2 Lautrec stabs Siegmeyer in the back with a trident. Oscar kills Ciaran with a sickle. Day 3 Gwyndolin spears King Vendrick in the abdomen. Solaire, Horace, and Raime get into a fight. Horace triumphantly kills them both. Night 3 No deaths occurred. Day 4 No deaths occurred. Arena Event The remaining tributes begin to hallucinate. Oscar eats a scorpion, thinking it is a delicate dessert. Ornstein drowns Smough, who he thought was a shark trying to eat him. Artorias and Horace decide to jump down the rabbit hole to Wonderland, which turns out to be a pit of rocks. Melchior mistakes Patches for a bear and kills him. Night 4 Lautrec stabs Melchior while his back is turned. Gwyndolin throws a knife into Creighton's chest. The Feast Lautrec kills Gwyndolin with his own weapon. Ornstein falls into a frozen lake and drowns. Day 5 Adrien stabs Lautrec while his back is turned. The winner is Adrien from District 8!

A while ago I commissioned this beautiful piece from my favorite artist, @silvysartfulness !!! It turned out so gorgeous and I forgot to share it with all of you but now you may bask in the glory that is my dumbass prince, Albiore.

He's a winged Peri from the northern kingdom in my world setting who, due to a huge scandal, has been sent on an ambassadorial mission to the tropical island kingdom of Lissar. Silvy captured him in all his icy glory and helped me design an outfit for him! Thank you so much Silvy! I could not have asked for a more gorgeous picture of my boy. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

do you have a place with all of your art?

Hi, and thanks for the question!

Sadly, the answer is... no. 😅

I've been online for so long, I've left a trail of abandoned social media and websites in my wake, and I mostly just post whatever I'm into at the moment in the places I'm active at the time, if I think people are interested, and if I remember.

I spent a lot of time over the years setting up various galleries, only for those sites and social media to tank or break, and I kind of lost the spoons to try anymore.

You can kind find my Untamed art in the #silvydrawstheuntamed tag on my tumblr blog, there's lots of my original art in my #pangaea tag (on my blog, not sitewide obviously) and there's a generic #silvyart tag that I forget to use 90% of the time. There's also a #woodcarving tag on my blog that has some of my carved work in it.

You can find lots of my older art in my deviart art gallery too. I used to have an extensive gallery on LJ, but that broke when the site changed owners waaay back, and I created some private website that then broke when I forgot to update the wordpress infrastructure. 🥲

I probably should start posting to instagram or something, but then I have to remember to...

So long story short: sadly no one place, it's literally all over the place. Sorry. 🥲👍

I made a thing. 😁

I carved the design on the lid with my dremel, then stained the wood dark brown with acrylics. I used some of my fave gold and silver acrylics to highlight the 3D design, and finally buffed the whole thing with bee's wax for that beautiful depth of colour and velvet shine. I love that part of the process, it really makes the wood come alive, all smooth and glowy! 💚

The design is, obviously, Xue Yang's scorpion hairpiece from The Untamed. :)

☕️ How do you feel about digital vs traditional art? Have a preference?

Oh man. I actually really love traditional art? Especially watercolours are very dear to my heart. I just have such limited energy and patience these days, that creating art without the convenience of layers and the ctrl-z gets real frustrating real fast.

Also, cats getting into the paints.

But I love the look of watercolours and try to incorporate a lot of that feel when I work digitally, by using lots of textures. And some few times in a blue moon I'll take my watercolours out and paint by hand just for the meditative fun of it.

Here's a watercolour painting I made a bunch of years ago for an exhibition I took part in:

I also love woodcarving with my dremel - one thing I really like is making custom boxes! They're like a mix of crafting and painting, and it's so much fun!

(Not a box, but I carved and painted the peacock and painted the fan.)

So yeah, long story short, I do love traditional paints, it's just that the hassle of getting everything out tends to discourage me from using them as much as I'd like to. I really should try to do that more...

So instead of sleeping last night...

I spontaneously decided that maybe

half past midnight was in fact the perfect time

to see if I could start working on that hairpin

to go with the new rainbow hematite necklaces I made the other week

and that I've been tempted to try and make for a while. 😁

It's very pretty and very shiny and I really like how it came out!

Painted with acrylics and a crap-ton of metallic and mica powder in in different colours. Finally sealed with pure bee wax rubbed into it, buffed into that lovely velvet sheen, making it super smooth, and dirt- and water resistant. 💜💙💚💛🧡❤
