My craziest hear me out is the 2022 Netflix animated version of Scrooge. Like I remember seeing people online raving about him being a silver fox so I watched the movie to see if they were right and I could kinda see it. Then I watched again, and now fully agree with everyone.

Synopsis

His grumpy neighbor needs some holiday sunshine…

The Geek Who Saved Christmas is a low-angst m/m holiday romance with a guaranteed happy ending. This grumpy/sunshine, neighbors-to-lovers, found family tale features two heroes in their forties figuring out that maybe their sexily-ever-after was right next door the whole time. It stands alone and is not connected to any of the author’s other universes. However, it does contain a heaping helping of the same emotions and steamy moments readers have come to expect!

My Thoughts

As much as this book was about a colour-coded plan to save Christmas, it was so much more than that. This book was really about healing, with a holiday backdrop.

Paul and Gideon both have very similar baggage and trauma. While they each keep some things close to the chest, they also learn to be open, vulnerable, and honest with each other. They learn about each other, and to understand each other – and in a way, they learn to to understand themselves more, too.

I really enjoyed the growing relationship between them, and how they communicated with each other. Something I value in my own personal life is open, honest communication, and seeing that in the pages of a romance brings me immense joy.

I really enjoyed getting to know this community, and these two characters. I found myself quite charmed with them, and I’ll be on the lookout for a possible series!

While I will always be a grumpy-pants around this time of year, I can certainly enjoy the season vicariously. And if anyone is going to celebrate for me, it will certainly be Mr. Gideon Holiday.

I have a story I’ve been writing stuff about for a little while and I wanna see what tumblr thinks! It’s historical fiction set in the 1850’s in Iowa, it’s set in a boomtown, where someone has been slowly picking off the aristocracy under mysterious circumstances. So detective Mic Cahill comes to investigate the case, he’s never been bested and has been looking for a case to truly top off his career before he retires. When he arrives he finds the mystery is much more twisted than he could hav ever imagined, as he struggles to find who’s at fault when it seems like everyone has skeletons jn their closet. It would actually be a lot easier if the towns detective, Vernon albers, didn’t keep getting in his way being all stuck up and proper, like he knows anything. the town is full of some characters so here’s what I’ve got on the quick rundown of some of the boomtowns most illustrious residents!

the sheriff: a bit of a party animal but still a sherif any town could be proud of! But he refuses to give mic key bits of information, what is he hiding

the deputy: a friendly young woman who was given the job as a joke but is totally kick ass at it

Becky: a sex worker in the towns flourishing red light district, she’s got all the best gossip, but the deputy’s never been able to get anything out of her on account of. Well. Becky does have some beutiful blue eyes

Penny’s worth: the miserable old Scrooge at the book keeping office, holds the towns financial records, loves to spread misinformation

‘Willie��� William ahlborne: the former mayor who now sits on his poarch in his undergarments and yells at passerby’s

Fiona conely: the sheriffs young daughter, she’s the town spitfire and currently looking for a husband, everyone expects her to be the perfect match for mic but there’s something off about her…

Issac Owen’s: the only and most successful cattle rancher in town, the sherries political opponent. A silver fox and golden opportunist, they say something wicked’s about his farm

Vernon albers: the stubborn local detective that seems to have it out for mic, a recluse by nature, mic has been warned to stay away from him

mic Cahill: the hotheaded young famous detective called in to solve the mysterious string of murders, acts a little too brashly for his own good…

and that’s the crew! This story’s got everything a tumblr user could ever want ! The toppling of a repressive governmental system! Complicated characters with questionable motives! Chronic illness representation! Enemies to lovers! Yandere (not romanticizing it tho cus that’s gross)! Gay people getting a happy ending! Poison! And everyone’s favorite, the killing of the rich and powerful!

I have read this book and I enjoyed it. I've said before that Annabeth Albert is a pretty trusty writer. Is it groundbreaking stuff? No. But it's reliably fun and entertaining.

yes, this is me watching scrooge. y’all should watch it, then watch my whole ~20 vids reacting to it. but to summarize:

I love this version too. I didn't see it until I was in college – the Christmas Carol adaptations I grew up with as a kid were the Muppet and Mickey versions, the Reginald Owen version, and Rankin/Bass's The Stingiest Man in Town – but now I wouldn't let a holiday season go by without watching it.

And it far surpasses the 2022 animated remake, even if Albert Finney wasn't the sexy "silver fox" that the animated Luke Evans-voiced Scrooge is.

I have to watch it again soon! I'm not sure if I'll have time today, but maybe tomorrow.

I feel like every year I talk about SCrooge 1970.and I never feel like I am able to articulate WHY its my favorite Christmas movie .It just is .

I dont know why this corny musical based on an often adapted story is my fave.Its not nostalgia ,I didnt see it till like middleschool nor do I think it is a perfect film

I guess my be that......Its just so joyous .The film is just filled to the brim with joy and specifically the joy of being alive ,Like the heart of this version isnt just he is a mean guy,SCrooge is miserable cause he is afraid of life and learns how wonderful life can be and gaining a second chanvcce at life he sees how wonderful life can be . Him realizing that he is ALIVE and singing Begin Again will always move me

You know you've gotten to an interesting point in your life when you've just nutted over Ebenezer Scrooge.

If they did Muppet Batman, then Muppets could play Alfred, Commissioner Gordon, Bruce’s Parents, Lucius Fox, assorted gothamites and henchmen, but not Batman and Robin and not the main villain. Statler and Waldorf might play bank hostages who say something like “they call this guy the Joker?” “Right? I’ve seen BEARS funnier than this guy!” “DOH HOH HOH HOH!”

But crucially, the muppets are NOT lead actors. They don’t play Jim Hawkins or Long John Silver or Scrooge or even Scrooge’s Nephew Fred, they play Captain Smollett and Jim’s Wisecracking Best Friends and Bob Cratchit and Marley’s Ghost

The thing to understand about Muppet Adaptations (which, despite their popularity, there've only ever been TWO of) is that the Muppets themselves never play the lead roles. They don't even play the sidekicks. They are the supporting cast. Kermit gets like fourth billing on that poster.
