please tell us more about hector's quirks o great sniler
also your art and tags bring me so much joy!! hope you have a wonderful weekend :D
Context: In a previous post i drew Hector with visible seems on his body and in the tags said he has a few ... quirks for being an ex-god.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hector will quite literally fall apart at a random seam (or a few) if he gets too wrapped up in destructive/unhealthy thinking now. If you wanna think about it in a more terrifying context this is essentially what i headcanoned happened to his body when he ascended - except in the rift it all dissipated, leaving him as how he was as Inspekta.
Tumblr media
Once you go in the rift even if you choose to leave it still will affect you. You will have to live with the choices you made either way. You climbed the tower of Babel and looked gods in the eye as an equal- you do NOT return the same.

Something something about not saying the others name the whole episode - about not being able to.
Something something about them being sat together in the silence the entire episode.
Something something about silence being a confession and silent confessions being louder than spoken ones.

But what if Eddie realizes he's in love with Buck when he finally remembers everything about the day he was shot? We've seen him say he remembers things but what if he didn't remember everything? What if he doesn't remember his blood smeared all over Buck, on his face, on his hands, on his tongue? What if he doesn't remember trying to call out to Buck but only managing to mouth his name soundlessly? What if he doesn't remember the way he reached out to Buck while bleeding his life out onto the asphalt? What if he doesn't remember thinking Oh, it's him, it's always been him. I should've told him and now it's too late.
What if he finally remembers it all and he sees Buck laughing with the team, shining bright like he's Eddie's personal sun and Eddie is drawn to him like he's Icarus and thinks oh fuck. He had realized he was in love with Buck and forgotten.
And now he remembers. And now...oh.
(and he thinks, like Icarus, is he doomed to fall short and burn his wings before he reaches his sun?)

it's incredibly revealing that dr goodsir's death is attended not by angels or by loved ones welcoming him over, as he told david young in the first episode, but by a flower, a shell, a crystal. his radiance, his million daybreaks all in one, is of the natural world-- but it's not of nature. it's of specimens, pure and unsullied by context; it's a natural history museum, because that is what one ought to do with beautiful things. they're set in a case for everyone to look at, perhaps accompanied by a neatly-typed placard, and then everyone sees the beauty also and learns to appreciate it. his admiration of lady silence and her homeland and her language is genuine, it's absolutely genuine, but it's an admiration that etherizes its subject and keeps it beneath a glass jar.
in a similar vein, he forms a connection with lady silence through trying to write a dictionary-- through sorting and classifying her language to make it intelligible to english speakers. that's the way that he knows how to express his fondness. that's the form of the colonizer that he takes: too gentle to hate or rule over others directly, but still utterly incapable of understanding that his worldview and culture is neither superior nor neutral and objective and purely scientific.
and in the month they spend together, talking and sharing and learning and growing close, lady silence still never tells him her real name.
i'm not here to argue the morality of museums or dictionaries. i just hadn't seen this pointed out before, though it's the same facet of his character that keeps him trying to defend england as inherently good.

socially watching The Crown with my Irish hosts and I can't help but feel very uncomfortable with the premise. We're at Diana's death and there's something very ironic about all the commentary on voyeuristic journalism and the denunciation of the nightmare of living in the public eye in a show that makes a spectacle out of the private. How can you credibly condemn paparazzi when you're inventing whole conversations and private moments for real people? It's glorified rpf.

do you think jon will become mute pos resurrection? i just saw a video about that theory and now im thinking it's a possibility 🤔
I don't think so. Ghost's silence is likely a metaphor for the secrecy surrounding Jon's origin, potentially the knowing silence of the red and white weirdwood trees he so resembles, who are also mute witness to countless past secrets.
If Jon is rendered incapable of speech for a while, it'd likely involve a feral effect of warging into Ghost for a prolongued period, which would probably involve bouts of growling or howling, not proper silence.
When Sansa hears the howling of a Ghost Wolf on a bridge (a metaphor for death, which Jon crosses back from halway over in Bran's first chapter, having heard his silent wolf pup hat was left behind) this too may indicate the breaking of this secretive silence in the context of his "death" and its aftermath. Sansa leads her cousin to safety, inspiring him with the power of storytelling.
Ghost sat on his haunches watching, silent as ever. Will he howl for me when I'm dead, as Bran's wolf howled when he fell? Jon wondered. (ACOK, Jon VIII)
Ghost cannot howl in a physical way, yet Jon heard him once before, in time to save his life.
He was who he was; Jon Snow, bastard and oathbreaker, motherless, friendless, and damned. For the rest of his life—however long that might be—he would be condemned to be an outsider, the silent man standing in the shadows who dares not speak his true name. Wherever he might go throughout the Seven Kingdoms, he would need to live a lie, lest every man's hand be raised against him.  (AGOT, Jon IX)
Ironically, without knowing, this is already Jon's existence. It's not that Jon will be rendered mute, it's that the silence will be lifted.

the physical therapist after listening to me describe my pain as a rock stuck in my neck instead of "dull" or "sharp" : okay... and on a scale of 1-10 how would you rate this pain?
my autistic ass who just described my muscle pain from a concussion with a metaphor: a 5 or maybe a 7... POINT FIVE.
the physical therapist: .....
