Im staying off of social media today, I remember the attacks. I was in high school. I saw the second tower collapse live on tv.
I remember the entire state of Minnesota being terrified because al quidah released a list of their next targets and the Mall of America was in the top 3.
I remember people online saying it was Afghanistan and bin laden, and being confused when we declared war on Iraq. I remember my best friend at the time’s family telling me sadame was a bully and we needed to take him down. We watched the first attack live on tv. I remember crying when the missiles launched.
I remember the sudden, terrifying switch to people believing torture is good and necessary. I remember when torture porn became a very popular movie genre.
I remember how terrified immigrants were. An old woman got jumped by a gang of young men. A Sikh man was shot in the head for wearing his turban. Hate crimes were rampant.
I remember actively losing my rights in the name of “freedom.” In 2005, I remember reading about how the bush administration knew something was going to happen and actively let it, just so they could gain more control over American people.
I remember how much useless garbage was being shoved down our throats in the name of the dead. “You are not a true patriot unless you buy this commemorative 9/11 glassware set for 3 installments of $19.99!”
I remember the government plastering pictures of firefighters and cops in hero campaigns. I remember John Stewart fighting for medical care for first responders, because the government abandoned them.
I remember people being told their entire lives that 9/11 was the single worst American tragedy of modern history. I remember, during covid, people becoming outraged over how many people were dying. I saw “thousands of 9/11s” referenced often. I saw people realize how little their governments actually care about their safety.
Ive been seeing a lot of gen z turning 9/11 into memes, and honestly, I don’t blame them. Gen Z didn’t make 9/11 a joke, the fucking government did.
Today I am going to keep to myself and mourn and hold people in my heart. Sending my prayers and love to the countless souls who have died on and because of 9/11.

Hey, so I wanted to reblog this post for a few reasons.
I can see that you're hurting- but as trans people, we can't turn on each other like this. It isn't healthy to become distrustful of non-transmascs, the same way it wasn't healthy of self-identified baeddels to become distrustful towards non-transfems.
It might seem like creating a binary of who is or isn't affected by antitransmasculinity is hitting back at those who impose the tme/tma binary on us, but I promise you, that path does not lead to solidarity or support.
The minute you create language which others or dehumanises othe people (e.g. 'TMEs', 'ATEs' and so on and so forth), you sever that bond with other trans people. By making or using that langauge, you put people into boxes and you know it isn't pleasant- if you've ever been called TME, you know how much it others you and demonises you.
I'm gonna cite that meme "this is the weapon of the enemy, we do not need it we shall not use it" because, well, its true! If someone devises an awful way to refer to you or a group you belong to, the answer isn't to try and make two wrongs be a right. I hope I'm making sense here.
If you're a fellow transmasc reading this: do trust non-transmascs. Seek out non-transmascs who listen to you, who care about you, who you care about. Seek solidarity and unity. Seek good people in bad times.
On a final small note, I'm going to make clear that we do not need to use language like TME or ATE. As we know very well by now, nobody is truly transmisogyny exempt (e.g. gay cis men, trans men etc. could easily be mistaken for a trans woman and targeted with transmisogyny. C.f. Sikhs experiencing Islamophobia). And in the same vein, nobody is truly transandrophobia/ anti-transmasculinity exempt for the same reasons. Interestingly enough, I was hanging out with some other queer people in my Uni town yesterday and a cis man there had been targeted by the same chaser who'd tried it on with me (this chaser had a thing for going after trans men). The cis man happens to have long hair and was assumed to be a trans man by the chaser, who tried to harass the cis man for sex on the assumption he was a trans man. That cis man isn't transandrophobia exempt. Neither is anyone on the planet if they get mistaken for a trans man.
- Luke
Notice how ATE trans people move goal posts to how ATA people can perfectly describe their own oppression?
Can’t use transmisandry because it rides in the coattails of transmisogyny, can’t use transandrophobia bc apparently our masculinity isn’t the target of our oppression, and anti-transmasculinity just doesn’t exist.
This is why i have such a hard time trusting that non transmascs are going to be on our side. If you were so keen in solidarity with your trans brothers you’d consider at least listening to us, but yet you constantly disparage us; pave ways for our own silent demises, even.
To the non transmasc, we might as well just be built for the following:
• Put our bodies up as cannon fodder
• Shutting up and using our voices to uplift anyone but ourselves
• Substitutes for cis men/any oppressors
This is all we are to ATEs. We’re bodies to feed the patriarchy so that ATEs can live another day. This is our very reality.
Don’t trust non transmascs.
