May I Take Your Order?

The door to the Snow Bell restaurant opened with the sound of chimes to signal that a customer had come in. But it wasn't just any customer, it was none other than the former King of Duelists, Jack Atlas himself!

"Welcome..." Yukiko began speaking. Her blue eyes lit up upon processing who the young man before her was.

"Oh my, you're that famous duelist, Jack Atlas! I feel luckier already." Yukiko pointed to an empty table. "Please sit here."

"Saya, can you serve our special customer?"

"Sure Grandma." She had no idea what her grandmother meant by "special customer" until she sweated at the presence of Jack Atlas.

After regaining her composure, she cleared her throat, and said "My name is Saya Otonashi and I'll be your server today. What will you be having this afternoon?"

yusei could feel his face turning red, wondering how she even found out. far as he knew crow didnt say anything so it must’ve been jack if it wasn’t him or crow.  “h-how did you find out about us?”

There were many things Nix had to adjust to, being in the outside world for what felt like the first time. The skyscrapers and tall buildings seemed so much larger now that she was standing on ground level. It was as if they were all looming over her, making her feel that much smaller. Even the air itself seemed different to her. Though the most difficult thing to grow accustomed to, that she still had trouble with, were the crowds of people. The silverette had been by herself, save for the nurses and doctors coming by to administer medicine and deliver food while she was in the hospital. Now she was surrounded by strangers the moment she stepped outside. All the noise of the city just added to the anxiety she felt when trying to familiarize herself with the streets. 

Today’s goal was supposed to be simple, navigate her way around and make it back home without getting lost. So far that was a bust since Nix got turned around or perhaps took a wrong turn at some point, resulting in her feeling totally lost. She could ask directions but speaking up when in the beginning stages of panic made it difficult to do. To make matters worse, while busily reading what signs she could see, she bumped into someone! Nix turned to apologize but paused when she saw a familiar face. It was Jack! Talk about a stroke of luck, running into her only friend so far. “Jack, thank goodness it’s you! I was starting to think I’d be lost in this area forever..”

 he could tell yusei was beginning to worry, why wouldn’t he about someone he deeply cared about? jack would about anyone he loved and in all honesty, he wasn’t the best person who knew how to comfort someone; daring as he is, taking action was better than waiting around and doing nothing.

 “then what the hell are you waiting for, yusei? why are you just staying here and waiting, like he’ll show up. you know kalin is out there,” a small sigh came after, he didn’t want to seem too harsh “then why not we find him? i’m not going to let you look for him alone.” better to have one extra person, he was worried about kalin too; though not as much as yusei.

Very few things made Yusei distraught (mostly his friends being in danger, or spiders, were the contenders for the first spot on that list,) but here he was, visibly distraught and lined with worry, brows furrowed together as he paced from one side of the garage wall to the other, mumbling to himself, stray words being caught by his friends until he had looked up and said, "He hasn't been home all night and I'm getting worried."

A part of him wanted some reassurance, but Jack was Jack and Yusei was Yusei, and he should really know better than a soft approach from the blonde after so many years of knowing each other.

“You’re right. Kalin is Kalin; he’s anyways coming and going and I’m never quite sure if he’ll stay, but he always comes back-- he’s just not usually out for so long.

Eyes fell, and then looked up again, returning just a little bit brighter. “So you’re going to help me find him?” He wouldn’t have ran away, surely? His duel runner was still there, it wasn’t as if he could have gone far. (Yusei had expected him home in at lest two hours after being told “I’m going on a walk to think,” and briefly wonders if anything bad had happened to the handless demon.)

Yusei sighed, a smile of relief falling on his features. “Thank you, Jack.”

Meeting the neighbors had gone decently enough. Cori had introduced herself to them the day her family moved in, brought over a plate of sweetbread and invited them to dinner.

Now she was desperately trying to keep the apartment clean as her siblings and pets ran around, making sure the table was set and her parents had the food handled.

Despite her best efforts though, she still ended up answering the door with her baby niece on her hip and her dog curiously sniffing at the newcomers.

"Hey, come on in! Sorry about the chaos, the twins had too much sugar at lunch." She said, hoping her Japanese was still understandable through her accent.

“Hm?” Who the hell was this dude? And why was he looking at him like that? Oh, wait! He almost forgot he didn’t give a shit. A simple quirk of the brow to say he knew the blonde was looking before focusing his attention on the menu. And bringing it reaaaal close to his face to make sure he wasn’t reading these prices wrong. “What the fuck is this?”

Good lord, they better be importing the beans from some ancient mountain tribe to be charging this much! Why it was so empty here was starting to make a bit more sense now. Sigh. The only thing he could even afford was a small cup of their most inexpensive java, which was still a significant dip into his cash. Menu tossed onto the table, Lionell leaned back to wait for a waitress to come take his order.

“you sure about this Yusei? you said it yourself that it wasn’t a good idea for me to see her after all. you.. never told her about what jack had done..” Dark raised an eyebrow as he was being pulled along by his reflection.

“yeah i know what i said Dark but can’t hide this or you from her forever. she will have found out about it eventually and i think it may be better this way to get it out in the open. maybe it might help us both start to get some form of closure from it, maybe not but it’s not right for you to not be able to come see her too.” Yusei felt a weight settle inside his chest as he stared at the door before knocking on it. “hey martha it’s yusei can i come in? i.. brought someone with me to visit you..”

“Oh! Sorry about that..” Nix honestly didn’t notice that she was staring at the man like that. Adjusting to being out in public was harder than she thought. “I was just thinking you looked a little familiar is all!” Of course he did, Jack was the champion before and so his face was all over tv and online. Though the silverette wasn’t the type to get all overly excited over celebrities.

thank u all for sitting thru the sudden influx of replies sbjkasdjksd. Work has been tiring and I havent had the time for it bc im tired all the time and usually draw when Im Not As Tired, but felt like writing instead of drawing tonight!!
