Think About It - Daydreamer03 - E, 11 chapters - Everything for Draco changes after Hermione, alone with Draco for probably the first time since they’ve know each other, paints Draco’s face for the game. He never thought he’d want her, but the spark of desire ignites after their time alone. Something so strong develops in him that he’s unable to keep himself from her. In this Muggle AU, we see Draco’s perception of Hermione shift from the bookish Miss Perfect, the “Golden Girl,” to the woman he can’t be without.

…Six Months Ago….
——————————————————————————
“You can’t do it, Theo.” Draco says plainly. “If she’s anything like her father she won’t be able to feel that kind of emotion.”
Theo shakes his head. “She’s still a girl.”
Mattheo snorts, Enzo sputters. “That’s a bit sexist, Theo.” Enzo says, looking over at Y/n L/n.
She’s Severus Snape’s daughter and completely untouchable. Theo hasn’t seen a single guy going out with her in the whole six years they’d been at hogwarts.
That might be because of her father.
“Draco’s right.” Mattheo says. “She’ll never fall for you.”
“I’m gonna prove you guys wrong and you’re gonna owe me a shit ton of money for it.”
…. One Month Ago ….
——————————————————————————
Mattheo stares at you as you walks away. “Damn, I guess you were right.” Both him and Draco reach for their wallets but Theo waves them off.
“I don’t want it— any of it.” It felt for him wrong to take the money from the bet. Theo had fallen for you just as hard— if not harder— as you’d fallen for him.
Hell, Theo would kiss the ground you walked on if you asked him.
“What do you mean?” Blaise asks incredulously. “You won the bet.”
Theo furrows his eyebrows. “Whatever, I don’t want the money.”
They all stare at him.
One, two, three minutes of silence before Mattheo blurts out: “Oh my god. Theo fell for her.” He starts to laugh, and the other boy's eyes widen.
“Wow. That’s a little bit pathetic, Theo.” Draco teases.
Pansy slides in beside Blaise. “Wow. Famous playboy Theodore Nott fell for someone?” She snickers. “Who?”
Theo deadpans. “What do you mean who?” You are Pansy’s roommate after all, Pansy should better than anybody.
Her face falls. “You don’t mean y/n. do you?” Theo nods and she gives him an exasperated look. “Theo! You literally only dated her to win a bet!”
“Yeah, I know!” He retorts. A beat of silence, then, “I shouldn’t have done that.”
“You have to tell her.” Enzo cuts in. “If you truly like her, it isn’t something you can keep secret.”
Theo nods his head absentmindedly. “I know, I know. I’ll tell her soon.”
He didn’t want his new relationship to end before it ever began.
….Present….
——————————————————————————
Today, you woke up late, stubbed your toe on your bed and then spent the ten minutes you had to get ready looking for your damned potions book.
When you’d finally found it, threw on your uniform and got your hair into some sort of presentable, you rushed out your dorm and down the hallways as fast as your feet would take you.
Your class was on the opposite side of Hogwarts and you were already ten minutes late.
In your haste, you aren’t watching for other people in front of you and run straight into someone.
“I’m so sorry!” You exclaim frantically, picking up your books as she picks up hers.
She looks familiar but you don’t know her name.
“No, it’s okay— Oh.” Her faces twists into a scowl when she meets your gaze. “You’re Theo’s ‘Girlfriend’” she airquotes as she says ‘girlfriend’, causing you to narrow your eyes at here.
You furrow your eyebrows. “Uhm, yeah, I am. Why did you say it like that?”
She crosses her arms. “Because you and I both know that he doesn’t actually like you. You’re not his girlfriend.”
“And who, exactly, are you?” You ask, annoyance settling in your chest.
She looks down at you, a cocky expression written on her face. “You should probably just stay away from him, you know that, right?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Really, he’s going to be mine so I don’t even know what you’re doing.” She waves you off, as if she truly believes this.
You shuffle your books around in your arms and shift your weight into your other leg. “You do know that you’re not his girlfriend, right?”
“Whatever.” She shrugs, and you still don’t know her name. “Doesn’t matter if he calls you his girlfriend, it’s not like you’re a threat anyway.”
What does she mean ‘not a threat’? You feel like that’s a sentence better used to describe her considering, you’re Theo’s actual girlfriend. “What is that supposed to mean?” You ask incredulously but still relatively calm.
She gives you a mock sympathetic expression. “Oh, Sweetheart,” She starts, taunting you with each syllable. “You didn’t really think someone like Theo would settle down for someone like you… do you? I mean, he’s all parties and good times and you’re… well, you can’t even dress yourself properly.”
She looks you up and down, from your half-untucked uniform shirt to your loose tie and your unwrinkled skirt. You’re not usually this messed up. “Clearly, I do, because he did.” You pause, sigh deeply and roll your eyes. “Why am I even entertaining this conversation?” You turn away from her, preparing to tune her out and walk away.
She tuts, shaking her head. “Because you obviously know you mean nothing to him— after all when your relationship starts with a bet, I don’t think it’s ever been super stable.”
This makes you stop and turn back to her. “A bet?” You say it slowly and the words taste awful on your tongue. “What bet?”
She scoffs-laughs and smiles evilly. “Oops, did I say too much?”
Theo chooses this moment to walk up behind the two of your . He slides his hand around my waist, letting it rest there as he stands beside me. “Are you okay? You’re super late.” He asks, looking you over. His eyes flit over to the girl who was talking to you and his nose scrunched. “Why are you talking to Tracey?”
Tracey, that’s her name.
I don’t think he likes her too much.
Tracey opens her mouth to respond but I cut her off and begin dragging Theo away. “I don’t even know, Theo, let’s go.”
I can feel Tracey’s glare until we’re well out of her line of sight.
Jealous.
……
You can’t get Tracey’s words out of your head. You know it was a tactic to rile you up and, you suppose, it worked but you had this horrible feeling that maybe she wasn’t lying.
Asking Theo about it though? That was hard; you didn’t want him to think you didn’t trust him but you also didn’t want to get upset before you knew whether it was true or not.
You decided to ask one or two other people before Theo. Pansy Parkinson, was first. She’s been your friend since first year but she hung out with Theo’s group long before you ever did.
“Hey, Pansy.” You say airily. She looks up at you and smiles.
The bed creaks as you fall down onto it and sigh. “Can I ask you a random question?” You ask, fidgeting with the corner of your blankets.
She looks up at you expectantly but also with a good deal of worry. “Yeah, of course; What’s up?”
She shifts in her spot at the end of her bed, turning her full attention to me.
“Did you ever… I don’t know,” you stop, trying to find the correct words. “Did you ever hear anything about Me, Theo and a bet? While you were, like, hanging out with them.”
Pansy looks down at your fidgeting fingers and then furrows her eyebrows. She thinks about it for a minute, and her face drops so slightly I almost don’t catch it. “Oh, y/n…” she trails off. “He didn’t tell you?”
Every muscle in your body locks up. “He didn’t tell me what?” You don’t think you really want the confirmation now that you know it’s coming.
Pansy stands and then sits down next to you and pulls you into her in a side hug. “When Theo started trying to get with you it was because of a bet.” She stops but you just gesture for her to continue. “… I wasn’t actively apart of this conversation so I only got the gist of it but I was there.”
“What was the bet.” You say, with your eyes hot and your throat restricted. Your tone makes it seem like it wasn’t a question.
“The boys bet him that he couldn’t make the next woman he saw fall in love with him by the end of the year.” She gives your a sad smile. “I guess the next woman was you.”
What. The. Fuck. You’re gonna kill him, because he obviously won that goddamn bet already. You give Pansy a quick squeeze and then stand up. “I need to go talk to him.”
Pansy nods and walks back to her own bed, waving bye as you walk through the door.
Your vision is a bit blurry and your hands are shaking with betrayal and anger as you storm away from the girl’s dorms and right through the common room to the boy’s dorms.
When you reach his door, you knock loudly, despite it being late.
Draco answers. He looks you up and down and then turns his back halfway to you. “Theo, your girlfriend is here.”
Theo appears a moment later, an easy smile and his piercing eyes that you want to love so badly right now. He gently moves you back a bit and steps out of the dorm. “Hey, Baby, what’s up?”
You shudder at the pet name and his face drops. “Oh, I don’t know, Theo.”
He pulls you to the other side of the hall and keeps his hands on your arms, comforting both yourself and him. “What’s wrong? Did somebody do something to you?”
The worry on his face seems so genuine, you almost want to believe the bet was a lie— but you’re not that stupid.
“Yeah, Theo, someone hurt me.” You pause. “It was you and your fucking bet.”
He freezes. “Shit. Who told you about that?”
You don’t want to— no, you can’t look in his eyes. “That girl, Tracey, and then Pansy filled in the finer details.” You’re arms are crossed now and he can’t hold you like he was before. “Is that seriously the only thing you care about right now— actually, obviously it would be because I’m just a bet, right?”
He opens his mouth to speak but you don’t let him. “Actually,” you continue. “I don’t want to hear it— just, have a good life, Theo. I’d say we’re over but I don’t think we really ever started to begin with.”
You walk away before you second-guess yourself and ignore as he calls your name. He doesn’t run after you, which you’re equally glad for and disappointed by.
God, you don’t think your heart has ever hurt this bad.
…..
You haven’t seen Theo in class for the whole week after you ‘broke up’; you’ve seen glimpses of him outside, always smoking, or eating in the Great Hall but it’s like he’s intentionally missing every class you have together.
He probably is.
He shouldn't have that right. You’re the one who gets to avoid him, he doesn’t get to avoid you.
You’re the one who got played like a violin and ended up battered and bruised.
You don’t see him for most of your days, but, when you do— when you look at him, his eyes are always already on you.
As a result the other Slytherin boys glance at you while he stares, because of how intensely he does so. You can feel his eyes burning holes into you at all times.
You try your best to ignore him as you stand to leave the Great Hall.
A boy stops you near the entrance, you think you recognize him. He’s the same year as you, and pretty nice as far as you know. His name is Lucas, you’re pretty sure.
“Hey.” Lucas says warmly. “How are you?”
He’s a bit close, and you’re sort of backed into the wall. You laugh awkwardly. “I’m alright, um, how are you?”
He smiles. “About the same,” he looks behind him and then back at you, same easy-going smile that isn’t easy the way Theo’s is. “Anyways, I was wondering… since you broke up with Nott, maybe you’d wanna go out sometime? With me?”
“She doesn’t.”
Lucas’s shoulders jump at the sound of Theo’s voice and he backs away from you and spins to look at Theo, whose standing there with a dangerous look on his face.
You glare at him. “Maybe I do want to.” It’s a challenge and Theo knows it.
Lucas sputters. “You know, I actually realized I’m busy, so…” he scrambles off after that you’re left with Theo.
You scowl at him. “Theo, what the fuck?”
“He’s not good enough for you.” He shrugs like he knows what’s good enough for you. Mr. Bet-Winner.
Your heart aches in your chest just looking at him. “And how would you know what’s good enough for me, Theo? because you sure as hell weren’t.”
He scowls now. “I treated you like you were a fucking princess, Y/n, all he would’ve done was treat you like a piece of ass.”
You huff. “A princess, Theo? None of it was even real!” You spin to walk away but Theo catches your wrist and pulls you back; he slips his other arm around your waist and pulls you right to his chest. Your faces almost touch.
Your breath hitches like the traitor that it is.
He pulls your hand up to rest on his chest, where his heart beats hard and erratically. “Does this feel fake to you?” Theo’s fingers dig lightly into your waist. “Do you honestly think that all of that— everything we said and did— meant nothing?”
His breath fans across your face.
Your whole body feels like it’s on fire, and he’s the ice bucket that can save you— but your pride and anger are like the fires of hell; irreparable.
“You took a bet to make me fall for you, Theo, and lucky for you, you won it. How much was I worth, huh?”
He replies almost instantly. “I didn’t take any money, Y/n.” Theo breathes deeply and you feel his chest rise and fall, forcing yours to do the same.
“You— what?” You can feel your resolve cracking, the hope leaking through that somehow you were wrong.
“Let me explain the full story.” He waits for you to give him confirmation; you nod and he continues. “Yes, it started with the bet, and yes, I had never planned for it to last. It was cruel and mean, and I’m sorry. But the thing is, I didn’t anticipate that I would end up falling in love with you right back.” The words feel like a kick to the heart.
“But, on the other hand, how could I not? You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen and you’re intelligent and funny, you laugh at all my stupid jokes. You love potions more than any other class and you’re really good at it too.” He stops. “Y/n, you’re perfect and I’m so, so sorry I never told you— or, even worse, that I did it in the first place.”
Your heart skips several beats. “Oh.”
“Oh?”
“Oh.” You’re at a loss for words.
He just looks you over, trying to assess what’s running through your mind like he always does. “Please forgive me, Y/n. I love you so much it hurts.”
You pull away from him and he reluctantly lets go, his shoulders sagging in defeat.
“You’re serious?” You ask quietly. “No bets this time? Nothing you haven’t told me?”
He shakes his head, giving you the saddest, puppy-dog look, unintentionally.
You’re silent for another long moment before, finally, you say: “you love me?”
Theo looks into your eyes. “God, yes.”
“Okay.” You say softly.
He straightens. “Okay, you’ll get back together with me or Okay, I don’t forgive you?”
You hold up one finger and he seems to understand because he pulls you back into him so quickly and presses his lips to mine; you kiss him back, and kind of stand there, kissing, for a long moment. Probably longer than you should’ve.
But you wish he never had to stop.

MR. FUCKING BRIGHTSIDE
pairing. slytherin!jake x hufflepuff!fem!reader
summary. although sim jaeyun constantly surrounds himself with douchebags and looks like he could stomp all over a girl’s heart; you knew the real him that was deep inside. but did you really?
genre. hogwarts!au, ANGST, bits of fluff, right person wrong circumstances, forbidden/secret love
warnings. jake can be a bit of an asshole, the insult “mudblood” is used, slytherin gets shitted on as a house (dw, i’m a slytherin 😭)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sim Jaeyun, or everybody knew him as Jake, the sixth year Slytherin, seeker of his house’s Quidditch team, and nevertheless, charming to every girl that has stepped foot in his proximity.
Half of your friends would disagree—that he was not charming but rather just another slithering snake in the worst possible house at Hogwarts.
Jake’s friend group consisted of three people: Draco Malfoy, Blaise, and Pansy Parkinson. They just so happen to be an insufferable lot, maybe except Blaise who minded his own business half of the time.
“Today you will be working in pairs.” Professor McGonagall states, fixing her glasses as she holds a stroll of paper. “I’ve already decided them, absolutely no changes.”
There’s groans that fill the room, one of whom you recognize as no other than Jake.
“Seriously? I wanted to pair up with Blaise!” He whines, earning a glare from Draco. “What? C’mon Dray, we both know you and I don’t get anything done.”
“Alright,” Professor McGonagall clears her throat. “Blaise Zabini with Nancy Drumswell, Aidan Callaghan with Hermione Granger, Harry Potter with Neville Longbottom, Draco Malfoy with Pansy Parkinson, and finally, Jaeyun Sim with Y/N L/N.”
You don’t blink when you realize who your partner is. Rather, you just sigh a bit in defeat, coming to the conclusion that you cannot do anything to convince McGonagall to change partners.
“Hey.” Jake plops himself down on the seat next to you, laughing as Draco gives him a shove on the way to his own table.
“Hi.” You murmur, suddenly finding your yellow robe more interesting than him.
“I’ve never been paired with a Hufflepuff before.” He grins, the shit eating grin that weirdly captives your senses. “Are you guys as nice as you claim to be?”
“I don’t know Jaeyun, you tell me.”
Jake’s eyes widen before he lets out a giggle. “Jaeyun? No one ever calls me that anymore.”
You shrug, sliding him the piece of paper with the instructions to your project. “You can stop by the Hufflepuff dormitories at 8, I’ll be done with dinner by then and I’ll open it for you.”
“Sounds like a plan sweetheart.”
You cringe at his words, the obvious disdain on your face makes him laugh even harder.
“I’ll see you then.” He whispers, and just like a movie, stands up as soon as McGonagall dismisses the class, merging into one with his friends.
♡;
Just as the clock struck eight, you heard a knock. Your books, pens, and parchment were spread out in front of you, eagerly waiting to be used.
As you slowly get up to open the door, you’re met face to face with Jake, who entered the room with a confident stride
"Hey there, Y/N," Jake greeted, flashing you a charming smile as he took a seat across from your side of the table.
"Hey," you politely turn his smile. "Ready to tackle this project?"
"Absolutely," he affirmed, pulling out his own notes and spreading them out on the table. "I've got some ideas already. How about you?"
You nodded, slightly impressed by Jake's readiness to dive into the work. "I've been brainstorming as well. Maybe we can combine our ideas and come up with something great."
As the two of you began discussing your approaches to the project, youcouldn't help but notice how articulate and intelligent Jake was when he wasn't surrounded by his usual group of friends. His confidence shone through, but it was paired with a genuine interest in the subject matter that caught you off guard.
"You sure sound different when you’re not around Draco," You remarked.
Jake only chuckled, a hint of self-deprecation in his voice. "Yeah, well, I guess I don't always show this side of me around my friends. They have a different idea of what's cool."
You can only nod in understanding, realizing that Jake was more complex than you had initially assumed.
As you continued working, you couldn’t help but find yourself paying closer attention to the small details about him—the way his brow furrowed in concentration, the soft lilt in his voice when he explained a concept, the way his eyes sparkled with passion for the project.
"Thanks for coming, Jake," you say, offering him a genuine smile. "I really enjoyed working with you."
Jake returned your smile, his eyes meeting yours with a warmth that sent a sudden flutter through your heart. "Anytime, Y/N. I had a great time too."
As you bid each other goodnight, you couldn’t help but suddenly miss his presence, something you didn’t expect to happen with just one session with him.
♡;
In your second studying session, you and Jake found yourselves engrossed in their project once again. This time, you two decided to move to a quiet corner of the library, away from prying eyes and distractions. The Hufflepuff dorms were too crowded, and you knew you’d rather die than step into the Slytherin dormitory as a Hufflepuff.
As you discussed your research findings, you couldn't help but notice how Jake's demeanor had softened since your last meeting. He seemed more relaxed, more open, as if he felt comfortable letting his guard down around you.
Jake suddenly reached across the table to grab a book, his hand brushing against yours in the process. It was a simple gesture, but it sent a jolt of electricity coursing through your veins, leaving you quite literally breathless for a moment. “Here Y/N, I heard this book was good for this particular topic.”
Your eyes met briefly, and you felt your cheeks flush with warmth.
“Thanks,” you murmur, looking down slightly.
Jake smiled back at you, seemingly oblivious to the effect his touch had on you. For a person who charms so much girls, you’d think he know how much his advances affected others.
“No problem, seems like we got a lot done within these 2 days huh?”
"Yeah, it seems so," you reply softly.
Even though it had only been 2 nights, in those quiet moments, away from the prying eyes of their classmates, you had realized just how much you actually enjoyed Jake's company. He wasn't just the annoying Slytherin she had initially pegged him to be—he was kind, intelligent, and surprisingly easy to talk to.
"I guess that's it for tonight," Jake said, a hint of disappointment in his voice. “Can’t believe they only allow Prefects in the library past ten.”
"Yeah," you groan, feeling a pang of sadness at the thought of saying goodbye. "But we'll see each other again soon, right?"
Jake nodded, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Definitely. Let’s just hope Malfoy doesn’t ruin it.”
♡;
As you made your way through the corridors of Hogwarts with Hermione, you spotted Jake surrounded by his Slytherin friends, including Draco and Pansy. Suddenly feeling the wave of confidence at the sight of him, you decided to muster up the courage to approach him.
But as you drew nearer, you noticed a subtle shift in Jake's demeanor. His usual friendly expression hardened, and a smirk spread across his lips as he turned to face you and Hermione.
"Look who it is, boys," Draco says, voice dripping with sarcasm. "Little Miss Hufflepuff herself."
Jake and Pansy chuckled, exchanging knowing glances with Draco as if they were in on some inside joke. Your smile faltered, confusion and hurt swirling in your chest as you struggled to make sense of Jake's sudden change in attitude.
"Um, hi, Jaeyun," you replied, voice barely above a whisper as you fought to keep her composure.
"Seriously? Jaeyun? That’s hysterical.” Pansy laughs, as if it was the funniest thing in the world.
“What's the matter, Y/N? Can't find anyone from your own house so you bother our Jake here?” Draco continues to taunt you, his words like daggers aimed straight at your heart. “Or should I say Jaeyun?”
You felt your cheeks burn with embarrassment as the laughter of Jake's friends echoed in your ears. You had never felt so small, so insignificant to the group in front of you.
“I was hoping to discuss our project.” You say quietly, looking at anyone but Jake.
Hermione could sense your hostility, pulling you close to her side as she gave Draco a snarl.
“Listen Y/N,” Jake says, “all that crap you Hufflepuffs preach about loving each other and expressing feelings is a lie. No one really cares about what you have to say.”
“Alright, that’s enough!” Hermione says, shielding you by putting herself in front of your frame. “What has gotten into you?”
But Jake just shrugged her off, his smirk widening into a sneer. "Mind your own business, mudblood. This doesn't concern you."
Feeling the sting of tears threatening to spill from your eyes, you quickly turn on your heel and fled down the corridor, desperate to escape the humiliation of Jake's cruel words.
Had you really been so stupid to place your trust in Sim Jaeyun knowing full well his reputation? By the looks of it, all answers pointed to yes.
♡;
By 7pm, the sun had dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow across the surface of the Black Lake just in front of the Slytherin Common Rooms.
“Y/N?” Almost as if he knew exactly where you were, Jake shows up in front of you, making you give him a glare.
"I'm so sorry, Y/N," he murmured, his voice tinged with remorse as he avoided your gaze. He takes a seat next to you on the grass, his fingers tracing patterns across them in nervousness. "I messed up back there. I let my pride get the best of me, and I hurt you in the process. I should have stood up for you."
You sighed, your heart heavy with disappointment but softened by Jake's sincerity.
“I don’t get it,” you say. “One moment you’re all kind and sincere around me, and the next, you say all these things like I’m worth nothing.”
The two of you sat in silence for a moment, the air filled with the gentle rustle of leaves and the distant calls of birds. Then, Jake spoke again, his voice hesitant but earnest. "I guess my friends just have an influence on me that I can’t control. I’m sorry for what I said earlier, you’re one of the kindest people I've ever met, Y/N. I admire that about you."
You slightly smiled, a warm flush spreading across your cheeks. "Thank you, Jake. That means a lot to me."
As the sky darkened and stars began to twinkle overhead, the two of you continued to talk, laughter mingling with the night air.
♡;
The next night was one of the more important nights at Hogwarts. Everybody had finished their exams—and the Ravenclaws decided to throw a party at their Commons.
The music throbbed as you entered with Ron Weasley, who, at the sight of his twin brothers, ran towards them. You roll your eyes at his behavior, and start pulsing through the crowded room, a plastic smile plastered on your face.
You notice Jake in the corner, sipping on what looked like a bottle of beer. He exchanged nods and greetings with those around him, his eyes scanning the room for something—someone.
But before you could gawk at him any longer, Draco cut in smoothly, his tone laced with mockery. "Oh, look who decided to show up. Did you bring your Hufflepuff friend to the party, Jake? How charming."
Pansy giggled, her eyes glittering with malice as she looked at you up and down. "I didn't know us Slytherins were into charity work."
“Guys, seriously? Cut it out,” Jake gulps, eyes directly meeting yours.
“He’s right,” Blaise says, and you swear it’s the most you’ve ever heard out of him. “Don’t ruin the party.”
“Whatever.” Pansy throws her hand in mock surrender. “Wouldn’t want to make the Hufflepuff cry.”
Hermione comes to your rescue right after Pansy throws you a glare.
“Piss off.” She says, interlocking her arms with yours.
“Thanks ‘Mione.” You thank her softly as you’re lead away from the lot. “For saving me back there.”
“Always,” she smiles. “Now cmon, I heard Ron’s already drunk!”
You two giggle at that, you letting Hermione lead the way into the crowd of people.
♡;
It’s about 2 hours later and the Ravenclaw party is still loud as ever, filled with with laughter and music.
Despite the Weasley twins making a full ruckus of themselves, your eyes were drawn to a figure slumped in a corner. It was Jake, only this time, he looked uncharacteristically vulnerable, his face pale and contorted with some type of emotion you hadn’t seen before.
Concern etched onto your features, and your body felt itself navigating through the crowd of people until you’re knelt beside him. "Jake? Are you alright? Where’s Draco?”
He lifted his head, and you swore you felt your heart clenched at the sight of his glassy eyes and trembling lips. "I'm fine," he mumbled, but his voice betrayed the lie.
"No, you're not," you reply softly, placing a hand on his shoulder. "What's wrong?"
Jake swallowed hard, his gaze flickering with a mix of emotions. "It's... it's nothing," he slurred, but his words lacked conviction.
You stayed silent, sensing he needed to unburden himself. After a moment, he spoke again, his voice raw with emotion. "Do you think I’m good for nothing?”
"What?" You asked gently, your heart sinking as you watched him struggle to form his thoughts.
"I mean look at this, look at me," Jake gestured vaguely, gesturing to the party around the two of you. "This charade I constantly put on. Pretending to be someone I'm not."
Your brows furrowed in confusion. "What do you mean?"
"I mean..." Jake trailed off, his breath hitching. "Was it all worth the six years of be pretending to be who I wasn’t? Pretending to be the egoistic charming Slytherin everyone claims to know so well?”
Jake pauses before looking up at you, his eyes swimming with unshed tears. "You know I care about you a lot, right? I like you, a lot.”
“You do?” You say quietly, brushing a few loose strands of hair out of his eyes.
“But we just can’t.”
“What?”
“Why not?”
"Because,” Jake's voice cracked, and he looked away. "Because I wish you were in Slytherin."
You felt your heart shatter into a million pieces at his words. You almost knew it then, with a painful realization that you could never compete with the loyalty he felt towards his house and the expectations placed upon him by his housemates.
Tears stung your eyes as you realized there was nothing she could do to change his mind. With a heavy heart, you rose to your feet.
“Well I’m sorry then, Jake.” You say, turning around so he wouldn’t see your tears.
And as you walked away, the echoes of his confession lingered in your mind, haunting your thoughts with the bitter realization that sometimes, love simply wasn't enough.

warnings: fluff, the word slag once (not to a human) this was supposed to be comedic
summary: 🐈❤️🐈‍⬛
“How many times have i told you to keep your rabid horny cat away from mine how many more times am i going to say this nott?” you scoffed placing the black cat into theodore’s arms “I walked in and he was fucking humping her”
“well maybe if your stuck up princess of a cat stopped rubbing her ass on him, he wouldn’t go after her” he retorted
“what are you trying to say nott!”
“that your cat is a slag”
you gasped and were about to retaliate, before his friends intervened.
“alright, that’s enough of that, theodore you keep teddy away from….” pansy paused for a second
“cleo”
“away from cleo” she continued “and cleo stays away from teddy”
“fine by me!” you agreed
“me too”
“then that’s sorted”
That was infact not sorted
Theodore was sitting in the common room with his friends when he heard someone stomping in quite violently. He turned and saw you red in the face while a panicked hermione tried desperately to calm you.
Once your eyes locked with his it was like something snapped in your brain and you lunged for him.
People perked up watching as you tried to inflict harm on the slytherin boy
“Bloody hell, you’re crazy get off me!” he was laughing
“You can go to hell!” you were shouting at him “Why are you laughing!”
“You’re cute not to think i can’t have you on your back in seconds”
“Fuck you! and Fuck your mangy cat”
“Okay that’s enough” he grabbed your wrists and pinned you on the ground “why are you attacking me?”
everyone around the room watched the commotion silently
“My Cleo…”
“yeah?” he urged
“my cleo is…”
“for gods sake, what happened to your cat”
“She’s been impregnated!” you shouted struggling under him.
He paused for a second before the sound of laughter broke his thoughts, he looked up to where his friends + hermione were all trying and failing to surpress their giggles.
“Has she taken a test?” he ask
“She’s not a fucking human theodore, i told you to keep your animal away from mine and now look what’s happened” you pushed him to the side and stood up “hermione let’s go”
You were walking with harry, ron and hermione in the corridors when you heard your name being called.
You turned and came face to face with an out of breath theodore.
“Can i help you?”
“I’ve been- trying- to find you- all week!” he breathed out
“well here i am”
“listen, i need you to dig deep into your cold heart and find it in yourself to allow my cat to see yours”
“absolutely not”
“what’s wrong with you? this isn’t romeo and juliet, they are animals, my cat has been walking around aimlessly trying to find yours, have a heart” he snickered. “let him be a good dad”
“They way you guys are talking about these cats, you’d think they were real people” ron scoffed
“Fine, bring tony to my dorm after dinner”
“teddy” he corrected you
“yeah fine teddy”
“thanks love, appreciate it” he winked “see you after dinner”
That’s how you found yourself watching two cats reunite. It was as of you were watching a romantic film (but with cats)
“See, this is what you were in the way of” theodore snickered
“don’t make me regret my decision theodore” you scowled before the room fell into a comfortable silence
“i guess it is quite sweet” you smiled watching as cleo begun rubbing her face on teddy.
Theodore chuckled, and then, with a more serious tone, he said, "You know, maybe there's something to learn from Cleo and Teddy
you raised an eyebrow. "What are you saying, Nott?"
His gaze met yours, and he hesitated for a moment before speaking, "How about you let me get to know you?"
you found yourself contemplating the idea. After a brief pause, a smile crept across your face, and you agreed before turning your attention back to the cats on your bed, who had now comple te ly warmed up to each other.
One particularly sunny afternoon you were sat by the lake, cleo, who was quite big now, lay peacefully next to you keeping you company while you tried to study for your upcoming charms assignment.
you were stuck on a particularly hard question and when you decided to look up, you saw that the spot next to cleo was now occupied with her favourite cat, teddy.
you had warmed up to him after seeing him with your cleo so much. You reached your hand out to stroke him before a loud noise startled you.
You turned and saw theodore hysterically laughing.
“That was the most unfunny thing ever” you tried your hardest to hide your smile, but failed nonetheless.
“Yeah well, i got you to smile” he took a seat next to you.
“Well, can i help you?” you asked
“yeah” he smiled “you can talk to me”
“god you sound so lonely Theodore”
“well your cat has clearly gotten mine under mind control, he doesn’t even sit with me anymore”
you laughed
“can i tell you something” he asked “i feel like we are at this point in our friendship where you won’t kill me”
“who knows…” you shrugged with a faint smile on your lips.
“I purposefully let teddy near cleo”
“What?! why” you tried to be angry, but you honestly didn’t really mind the two cats near each other anymore
“because my favourite part of the week, was when you would come and give him to me, even if you were fuming half the time” he snickered
“that’s… really sweet”
he looked away from you and smiled.
“can i tell you a secret” you moved infront of him
“hm”
“every time i saw your cat, i’d be happy”
“why’s that?”
“cause it meant i’d get to talk to you… well shout but still”
he leaned forwards and grabbed you by the waist slowly pulling you closer towards him “can i tell you another secret” he whispered
“yes” you were slowly leaning towards him
he smiled and leaned into your face catching your lips in a sweet kiss.
“i think you should let me take you out”

EPISODE 01: dinner and a glass of wine
pairing: theo nott x potter!reader
summary: the christmas holidays have just begun, but still a threatening atmosphere lies in the air and suddenly, you find yourself at a crime scene
warnings: extremely big trigger warning for the whole series, in this chapter: mentions of blood, a corpse, (small) jump-scare
note: hello guys, welcome to the first episode of no body, no crime!! i’m so excited for this series and hope you enjoy it as much as i do!! the next episode is coming out next monday!! let me know what you think in the comments <333
the soft tunes of christmas music filled the air around you. the great hall was less filled than normal, most of the students deciding to go home for the holidays.
"can you pass me the potatoes, please?" ron's red hair was illuminated by the soft glow of the fairylights behind him. the auburn sweater he was wearing was highlighting the contrast even more.
"here" hermione said, holding the bowl across the table, as ron eagerly grabbed it.
"where's ginny?" harry muttered. he had his nose buried in a book about quidditch techniques you had bought in hogsmeade. he had been busy studying it all night, but apparently not busy enough to not notice ginny's absence.
"she's sitting with luna" you pointed out, as your eyes glided along the slytherin table. ginny and her had grown closer since the beginning of the year and you had to admit that you had quickly taken a liking to the blonde girl. she was a bit strange, admittedly, but lovely none the less.
"she's been busy all year" ron muttered, mouth filled to the brim. "seems like we've gotten too boring for her"
"allow your sister to have her own friends" hermione shoke her head. "and for gods sake, please close your mouth, ronald."
despite the approaching festivity, the atmosphere in the hall was eerie. maybe because only a few people were sitting at eachs house table, making the hall seem weirdly out of place.
the slytherin table was by far the emptiest. probably because most purblooded and traditional wizard families made a hail mary out of everything that would allow a party, showing off their wealth and status.
the only thing that contradicted this assumption was that several children from the most influential pureblood families had chosen to stay. your gaze swept across the table, taking in each one in turn.
draco malfoy, displaying a usual attitude of displeasurement. you guessed that the malfoys weren't the people to listen to christmas music around the holidays.
next to him, blaise zabini, who was munching on a mouth full portion of potatoes just like ron was.
across from them and her back facing the rest of the hall, including your line of sight, pansy parkinson. her perfect cut bob of black hair moving slightly everytime she turned her head to the side, as she attentively listened to what draco was telling her.
a few feet away, mattheo riddle and lorenzo berkshire were quietly discussing something. it looked somewhat urgent, as both of them leaned over the table top, and not even mattheo, whose face you could see, wore his usual smirk.
just before you were able to wonder about his absence, you noticed theo nott walk into the hall. he looked just like always, messy curls falling onto his forehead, dark circles under his eyes and that face, that made every thought in your head disappear.
not that you liked any of them, but theo had always been your favorite. he was a true slytherin. cunning, loyal and determined. even though he had reason enough, there was no arrogant bone in his body.
you had liked him from the first time you had talked to him last year, when snape had coupled you up for a potions project. he had not even been as pretentious as you had thought he was, considering he was always hanging around malfoy.
but theo was nice, actually nice.
"hello?" ron's voice was so sudden, you knocked over the cup of pumpkin juice beside you.
hermione cleaned the juice off of the table with a simple flick of her wand, as she rolled her eyes at your distractedness.
"what?" you wondered.
"the cookies, please?" ron smiled and your expression turned sour when you noticed the pieces of potatoe stuck between his teeth.
you nodded nonetheless and grabbed the plate of decorated christmas cookies. you took one for yourself, a delicious looking christmas tree, before you planted the whole plate in front of ron, knowing that he was gonna take one cookie after the other anyway.
"i think we're good company" harry said, and while you weren't exactly sure what he was talking about, you nodded.
"obviously we are"
"i mean, she could've brought luna along, right?" he closed the quidditch book with a thud and crossed his arms.
"ehh" you muttered. you were saved by the loud sound of the door, that flew open and revealed professor burbage. she walked up to the teachers table in a hurry, quickly excusing her late arrival, before she sat down next to dumbledore.
you noticed the look of worry on her face and wondered what she was thinking about.
“what’s gotten into her?” hermione asked and you were glad someone else had noticed the professor’s strange behaviour.
“everyone is stressed around christmas, right?” ron muttered without an ounce of interest.
“i’m sure that’s it” harry nodded, glad that he could now shift the conversation back to it’s initial topic. “so, about ginny—“
“you’re mentioning her an awful lot, harry” you joked, enjoying how your brother’s face lost all it’s colour and his eyes darted between ron and you quickly. ron hadn’t even noticed the implication, if he had even listened to you in the first place.
you could read the boredom from the redheads face as he rearranged the cookie plate, until it showed a little scene with a christmas tree, huge presents and two happy gingerbread men.
you tuned the conversation out too, as harry continued to speak. you decided that it was hermiones turn to listen now.
you rather turned your head to look at theo once more, who looked up at the very same time, probably feeling eyes on him. but he didn’t look in your direction, but to the teachers table. you furrowed your brows, before you followed his line of sight, your eyes ultimately landing on professor burbage. she looked just as worried as before, as she hectically looked between theo and something clutched in her hand.
you looked back to theo, who simply rolled his eyes, averting his gaze from the teacher and focusing back on the untouched food beside him. draco muttered something in theo’s direction and the latter barely reacted, managing only a weak smile, before his focus was gone again.
you sighed, deciding you had spent enough time with your friends to leave without feeling bad. “i think i’m gonna head to bed” you smiled, standing up.
“oh” hermione simply noted. “should i accompany you?”
you shook your head, “i’ll be fine”. her offer was nice, but you wanted to be alone for some time. it was especially during times like these, that you most missed what other people had: a real family. you still had harry and your friends, but it was different from what you sometimes wished for.
“i’ll see you guys tomorrow” you waved. ron, mouth filled to the brim, only waved back to your relief and harry nodded, muttering something about a game of chess ginny had promised.
you headed out of the hall just a mere second later, pulling your sweater over your head, that you had taken off in the hall, because of the brizzling warmth of the fireplace at your back. you took the usual route to the tower. it was the place you often spend time at whenever you wanted to be alone.
the stairs creaked loudly beneath each step you took, indicating how old the whole structure was. you walked across the wooden beams, leaning your body over the railing as you breathed in the cold of the air and your eyes wandered across the snow beneath you.
it was so calm up here, so silent.. until. the wood creaked loudly, indicating steps coming up towards you. your heart began beating faster, debating who could be coming up here. you had never ran across someone else at the tower.
maybe it was harry? you stepped closer to the stairs, expecting your brothers dark and messy hair to peak from the entrance, but it wasn’t harry who then stepped onto the plattform across from you.
“hey” theo nott muttered, hands pushed into the pockets of his pants while he looked at you with an unreadable expression on his face.
“hey” you said, just as neutral. you tried to act casual, as he walked closer and you followed him back to the middle of the plattform, awkwardly standing next to each other.
theo fished out a cigarette from his pocket. “is this okay?” he asked, pointing between the two of you.
you furrowed your brows, confused what he was talking about, before you realized that he was probably asking about your permission to keep you company. “sure” you nodded and the lightened his cigarette.
“you smoke?” he asked, holding the burning cigarette in your direction as if to offer you a blow.
you shoke your head, although you had to admit that it was intruiging to take a drag when a boy with such blue eyes was the one offering it.
“do you come here often?” you asked softly, deciding it was more awkward to just stare at him in silence.
“sometimes” theo shrugged. “they get exhausting, my friends i mean”
“yeah, mine too” you nodded.
“wouldn’t have held you for a person that particuarly likes to be alone” theo muttered, before he turned his head, blowing the smoke out from his lips, without it hitting you. you appreciated the gesture.
“it gets too much, sometimes” you shrugged. “i don’t mind to be alone”
“then you probably mind my company, huh?” he smirked, looking into your eyes with a deep kind of sincerity.
“not at all” you shook your head, mirroring the smirk on his lips. “although i would prefer malfoy”
“oh shut up” theo laughed, his eyes glistening, almost surprised at the sudden joke. you felt proud that you had made him laugh, even if you had to mention malfoy.
“i’m so sincere right now” you giggled, both of you not believing a word you were saying.
theo threw down his cigarette, stomping on it, before he let it disappear with a flick of his wand. he looked up at you and opened his mouth, about to return a witty remark, when a loud bang rang out.
you both froze at the sound, the laughter abruptly cut off as the echo of the bang bounced off the stone walls. the great hall felt miles away in that moment, and the air thickened with tension. theo’s playful demeanor vanished, replaced by a look of concern.
“what was that?” you whispered, instinctively taking a step closer to him. the sudden shift from light-hearted banter to fear sent a shiver down your spine.
“the door” theo muttered in recognition. the tower was right on top of the entryway to the castle. now that you thought about it, the bang did sound awfully like a heavy door falling close.
“who would even go out there now?” you wondered, your heart still beating fast as the shock settled into your features.
“i don’t know” theo stepped away and closer to the staircase. “are you coming or what?”
you quickly nodded, as you followed him back down and through the corridor, before you froze in front of the door.
“maybe it was the wind” you suggested, though the tremor in your voice betrayed your uncertainty.
theo raised an eyebrow, a hint of skepticism dancing in his gaze. “you really believe that?” he asked, crossing his arms over his chest, his posture relaxed but his expression alert.
“well, it’s possible,” you replied, though you didn’t sound convinced. the notion felt flimsy in the wake of the unsettling noise, and the creeping feeling of dread wasn’t fading.
“possible, sure,” he replied, “but it sounded too loud for the wind. we need to check it out. it could be something... important.”
your heart raced again, this time from a mix of fear and curiosity. “important? like what?” you asked, biting your lip.
“i don’t know,” he admitted, glancing back at the heavy wooden door. “but don’t you think we should at least look? it might be someone in trouble.”
you hesitated, looking back down the corridor where you could see flickers of light from the torches along the walls. “but what if it’s something dangerous?” you countered, feeling a rush of apprehension.
“better to know than to wonder,” he said, his tone serious yet gentle. there was a spark of determination in his eyes, and you found yourself drawn to his confidence. despite the risk, the thought of turning back felt more frightening than facing whatever lay beyond the door.
theo looked back at you once more, before he sighed and nodded, pushing the heavy door open. what revealed itself was the dark of the night, as snow fell into the entrance you were standing in, quickly cooling your face.
“it’s too dark” theo noted. both of you took out your wands, using lumos to light the way. theo urged you to follow him. the snowfall was so heavy, that even the light of your wands did almost nothing.
theo was just a few steps beside you, when you felt it. “theo” you whispered, as your body and heart froze simultaneously. “theo” you repeated, a bit louder. you could see the light of theo’s wand come closer again. he had heard you.
“are you alright?”
you shook your head, what he probably couldn’t see. you could only make out his body. “there is something there”
“what do you mean?”
“i’m feeling it against my foot” you muttered. “there is something on the ground. i’ll have to come closer to make out what it is”
“be careful” theo held you hand to stabilize your body, as you kneeled down, moving the light of your wand across the object on the ground in front of you. it was dark, black robes, hiding something beneath them. but you just couldn’t make out what it was.
then suddenly, you gasped in shock. your light glided over a face, mouth, nose dripping blood. wide eyes, opened in terror as they stared at you unmoving. you screamed, falling back into the snow, as theo surged forward, trying to catch you.
“y/n!” he called, panic rising in his voice as you struggled to breathe, your heart racing wildly “what’s wrong? what is it?”
“professor burbage” you muttered, over and over again.
“what?” theo leaned in closer, still holding onto you, his face drained of color.
“she’s dead!” you choked out, voice trembling, eyes fixed on the professor’s face, still staring up at you, frozen in her final moment of horror.
you heard theo gasp, his own breath faltering for a moment as he processed what lay before you both. without another word, he pulled you to your feet, wrapping an arm around you to support your shaking body. “we have to go,” he muttered, his voice tight with fear. with one hand, he held his wand forward, the dim light flickering in the swirling snow, while the other held onto you as you stumbled back toward the door.
the last thing you saw as the heavy door closed behind you was professor burbage’s body, half-buried in the snow, her lifeless eyes still staring, as if warning you of something far worse to come.

The atmosphere surrounding the students on the Hogwarts Express differed massively in comparison to your fifth year last year, when everyone was wholly against Harry. Now, however, people whispered in their compartments about how he was right, the Dark Lord had returned. How everything was changing, especially with the rising death toll, wizard and muggle combined.
You were walking to the designated Prefect's compartment, which sat in the middle of the train, with Hermione at your side, your blue and bronze tie clashing with her burgundy and gold one. Your presence at the Ministry that summer prompted the two of you to be topics of few conversations, you sent glares their way.
"What do you think will happen this year?" the Gryffindor girl asked as you both made your way through the throngs of students in the hallway.
"Considering we almost died in June?" you say, a frown painting your face as your mind brings you back to your traumatic time in the Department of Mysteries to aid Harry in saving (and failing to do so) his Godfather. "We'll probably face certain death this year, Mione."
Hermione swatted your arm in feined annoyance at your attempt of a joke. "Don't put that thought into existence Meadow."
You only shrugged as you held the compartment door open for her. Ron was already waiting inside, glaring at Theodore Nott and Pansy Parkinson, who were sat diagonally across from him.
Unlike your Gryffindor companions, you had no issues with the two snakes, in fact they were two people you would consider your closest friends, if it wasn't for the prejudice that went both ways – from your friends and some of their's.
"Stop glaring holes into the sides of their heads, Ron." you scold. "I've told you before, they're my friends. They won't do anything to you."
He said nothing, but he did stop his glaring in favour of greeting the two of you.
The Prefect meeting went on for over an hour and you found yourself zoning out multiple times.
You're going to miss out on important information if you keep daydreaming, tesoro. Theodore. You admired that he was as talented as he was, but it was annoying when he would invade your thoughts. You narrowed your eyes at him.
Stay out of my head, Teddy.
But it's so fun, and so easy. He smirked and turned his attention back to the Head Boy, who was busy assigning roles to the new fifth year prefects. Pansy nudged Theo's arm, breaking his concentration, as she was obviously using her own legillimens ability to berate him. She offered you a smile in apology, which you returned with one of your own.
You'd taken to learning legillimens at the start of fifth year, having read about it in a book you'd taken from the restricted section of the Hogwarts library. You also wanted to protect your mind, especially with the knowledge that Voldemort was back after Harry had returned with Cedric Diggory's dead body at the end of your fourth year.
"Now onto you sixth years." the Head Girl announced. "Like last year, you're going to be paired off for nightly patrols."
She began pairing you off one by one. Hermione was with Ernie Macmillan; Ron was paired with Hannah Abbot; Pansy with your Ravenclaw counterpart and Theodore was paired with you. She then paired off the seventh year prefects before the Head Boy dismissed you all.
~∞~
Ron yawned as he stepped into the corridor. "Thank Merlin that's over. I'm starving."
"You're always hungry, Ronald." Hermione muttered as she walked out behind him, rolling her eyes at his usual ramblings, causing you to laugh at his expense.
"My my, it's a wonder why Dumbledore chose you to be a prefect with that attitude, Weasley." Theodore spoke up from behind you, Pansy at his side, once again shooting you an apologetic smile.
"Piss off, Nott." Ron snarked, turning to face your snickering Slytherin friend, about to take a step towards him when you put a hand on his chest.
"Leave it Ron. He's only trying to get a rise out of you. I'll meet you both in the compartment in a bit." you say, turning to face a smirking Theo with a berating glare.
"Wanted to get me alone, tesoro? Finally. I've waited all these years." he said with a grin, stepping towards you as your Gryffindor friends reluctantly left.
"Don't flatter yourself, Teddy." you say with an eye roll before you turned to Pansy and brought her into a hug. "I've missed you Pans. Good summer?"
"Abysmal." she muttered, sharing a not-so-subtle look with Theo. You looked between them questioningly.
"What happened?" you ask.
Exchanging glancing, they seemed to come to an agreement and Pansy grabbed your hand, dragging you into the closest empty compartment. Theo followed behind the two of you, closing the door and spelling it from unwanted listeners.
"What's with the secrecy? Guys?" you look between them growing more confused by the second.
"Before I tell you, you have to understand, I didn't have a choice, none of us did." Theo emphasises. "I consider you one of my best friends, tesoro. But what I'm about to reveal....it cannot under any circumstances leave this room."
You look at him confused, but the nagging thought that had haunted you all summer suddenly creeped up on your subconscious. Your eyes widened.
"No. Theo don't tell me-" you stutter and he looks away ashamed.
His son is my best friend. My father wants to get into his good graces, I had no choice. Even his voice in your head sounds despondent.
"Oh Teddy." you mumble, wrapping your arms around his waist, hugging him tight.
"I'm to receive the mark during the Christmas holidays." he mumbles dejectively into your hair. "Hell of a Christmas present."
"How good is your legillimens ability?" Pansy asks you. "Can you block people out."
"I have my thoughts locked away into a little mental box, but I'm still working on fully blocking people out." you say, pointedly looking up at Theo, who smiles innocently at you.
"You'll need to practice it then." she says resolutely, but the look on her face indicates nothing pleasant. "Mattheo can help you."
You scoffed. "There is no way Riddle will willingly help me. His father's biggest threat is one of my best friends."
"And you're one of our best friends, Meadow." Pansy says. "Our loyalty to eachother goes both ways. He'll help you, he's the most advanced at it, besides Snape and Dumbledore of course. Trust me."
"What about Harry?" I ask. "And Ron and Hermione, the Order. What am I meant to tell them. They won't be thrilled that I'm taking lessons from you-know-who's son."
"You'll tell them that you're tutoring Mattheo. It's a believable lie. He's shite at Ancient Runes, no matter how much I try to help him." Theo says, nodding his head as a plan forms in his mind. That was true. You don't know how Riddle was still enrolled in that class. "We've already discussed this becoming a possibility. He's more than willing."
"Why are you trusting me with this?" you question, staring between your two friends.
"Like it or not, you're our one way ticket to the right side of this war, tesoro. You know as well as I do that Potter needs as much help as he can get. And you need to protect your mind so that the Dark Lord can't get into your head." Theo says.
"So are you in?" Pansy asks as she heads towards the door. "Because there's no backing out from here, and I really don't want to obliviate one of my dearest friends."
You know the risks. You don't know what this will mean for your current friendships. But you know that Theodore is right. To help Harry, he'll need as much help as possible. Having Theo and Pansy on your side could be a turning point in this brewing war.
"I'm in." you say, nodding your head in agreement. "Just keep the snarky comments to a minimum about Ron, Mione and Harry, please. And relay that message to the rest of your friends too."
"Already done, tesoro." Theo says, ruffling your hair, grinning when you swat his hand away.
You question what he means for a moment when the back of your skull begins to burn with a dull ache. You cradle the back of your neck with your hand, wincing at the sting as Mattheo's deep, raspy voice fills every corner of your mind.
Lessons start tomorrow night, Princess. Don't be late.
He was already in your head, you sighed. It was going to be a long year.
~∞~
You reached the compartment that your other friends occupied at the same time that Harry and Neville seemed to be leaving it.
"Where are you two off to?" you ask as the two boys move away from the open doorway.
"To meet Professor Slughorn." Neville said, although he looked a mixure of nervous and confused.
"Who the hell is that?" you look at Hermione as you go inside, leaving Harry and Neville on their venture.
"New Professor, apparently." she replied. "What took you so long?"
You knew that your friends, minus maybe Harry, had little to no legillimens skills, but nevertheless, you cleared your mind of the conversation you'd had with Theo and Pansy.
"Well Pansy likes a gossip." you said flipantly as you pulled out a book from your never ending bag. "How else are we to know everything that goes on outside of our little circle, now that Lee Jordan is no longer in school?"
Ron and Hermione smile at that, before Ron's face drops.
"Listen, be careful around them this year, yeah." he said, his voice low. "We went to see Fred and George's new shop and watched Malfoy go into Borgin and Burke's with a bunch of known Death Eaters."
Your heart dropped. Theo would be participating in those meeting come Christmas time. That must mean that Draco was already involved.
"Well you know what sort of things they sell there." you say hesitantly. "It probably doesn't mean anything."
Hermione scoffed. "Try telling that to Harry. I think he's convinced that Draco and Riddle have been inducted."
You fall silent shortly after that. The conversation only picking up again when Neville came back to the compartment, Ginny following behind him.
Harry was nowhere in sight.
~∞~
Harry was awol for the rest of the trainride.
When the Hogwarts Express pulled to a stop in Hogsmeade station and you all found a carriage to settle in, he still wasn't there.
"Where on Earth is he?" Mione muttered as the thestrals, that were no longer invisible to you all after Sirius' death, pulled onto the winding road up to the castle.
"He's probably already in a carriage and didn't wait for us. Wouldn't be the first time." Ron assured, although his face betrayed his words as he looked as worried as you and Hermione.
You were unconvinced, and more so when you split off towards the Ravenclaw table when the three of you arrived to the Great Hall and saw, not to your surprise, Mattheo Riddle with bloody and bruised knuckles. As you sat beside Luna Lovegood you felt that same prickling sensation that you did on the train. He was watching you, and he continued to watch you with his cold, unbothered stare through the sorting ceremony and Dumbledore's speech.
Your attention was brought to the doors of the Great Hall where Harry seemed to materialise, Snape's looming figure behind him. But what you noticed the most in the bright glow of floating candles that bothered you more than his lack of punctuality, was the bloody tissue he was dabbing at his recently-fixed broken nose, which he did not have when you last saw him hours earlier.
People stared and whispered as he made his way to where Ron and Hermione were sitting. But your attention was pulled to where Crabbe and Goyle were sat snickering from their seats beside Draco. You narrowed your eyes at Riddle, who was still looking at you.
Got a staring problem, Princess?
Merlin he infuriated you. You focused on him as you thought of your response.
Did you do that to his face?
He smirked. Did I do what?
You didn't give him a response, instead turning your attention to Theo, who was chatting to Lorenzo Berkshire. Did Riddle do that to Harry? You asked and you watched as Theo startled before maintaining the same facade of conversation.
No. It was Draco. Harry was eavesdropping his conversation with Blaise. Matt was with me and Enzo.
Your question was answered, but you were still left unsatisfied. And Riddle's stare had not faltered, which added to your growing bad mood.
Stop fucking staring at me, Riddle. And stay out of my head.
He smirked wickedly and finally looked away, taking the prickling sensation along with him.

Hi, could you write a short story about yn x mattheo, exes to lovers ?
Tnxxx 💚💚
Pairing: Mattheo Riddle x Reader
Fandom: Harry Potter / Slytherin Boys
Tumblr media
The crisp morning light woke me with delight as I sat up in bed, stretching my tired limbs. I rub my right eye, glancing around and see everyone still asleep. With a sigh I swing my legs over the edge of my bed. Grabbing the glass of water on my nightstand I freeze. A piece of parchment lying on the floor catches my attention.
It’s stuck under the corner of my dark teak night stand and I know exactly what’s written on it. Words in ink filled with emotions that I would never look at the same again. The first ever letter he wrote me. I kept it under my bed, a reminder of our unspoken promises. Promises we couldn’t keep apparently, hence why we’re now back to strangers and won’t be sharing any more late night talks and loving moments.
With a deep sigh I stand up, slip into my cozy morning shoes and make my way out the room quietly, catching a small glimpse of a peacefully snoring Pansy, lips apart and looking restful, a rare sight for such a vivid Slytherin girl. I grin at the view and make my way out the door. It must be very early- the clock on the wall in the common room proving me right. 6:12 a.m.
The chill of early November crept through the stone walls, weaving its way into the heart of Slytherin’s dungeons. The fire crackled faintly in the common room, casting shadows over the green and silver tapestries that adorned the walls. It was a beautiful scene, but right now it felt suffocating.
I grab a plush green comforter off the velvet couch and get comfortable. A few other students already sitting in different corners lit up by the cool glow of the black lakes filtered lights.
„Quite early, don’t you think?“
I turn my head to see Theo walking over. With one once over I realize he’s not woken up but just coming back from the roof top party at the Ravenclaw tower. I didn’t go but it must have been good if he’s only back now.
The circles under his eyes are deeper and the smirk he wears looks lazy. He flops down next to me, throwing his arm over my shoulder and takes my hand, twirling my ring around. A habit of showing me he cares. That he’s present. He’s done that since we were kids, running around the house with our moms gossiping in the kitchen.
„Quite late for you Teddy, don’t you think?“
He rolls his eyes, tilting his head back. „You missed a really good party, I told you to come.”
“Nah, I’m not really into parties-“
“-since you broke up.” He cuts me off, stating the obvious. I look at him, hearing the slight concern in his voice and I sigh deeply. He raises a brow at me, challenging me to prove him wrong- but I know he sees right through me.
“Well, technically he broke up with me, so,”
“Yn, it’s been- two months? Three? I want my best friend back.”
“Sorry to disappoint Teddy, I just never went through a break up-“ I pull my hand from his grasp and stand up, collecting the blanket and decide to leave this room, as he’s clearly not understanding my side of the story well enough.
“Yn- wait! I’m sorry, hey-“
He stands up after me and holds onto my wrist, walking around me to block my way. He doesn’t let go as he tilts his head, giving me look- a look that breaks my charade and I bite my lip as my eyes fill with the past months- a time in which I barely knew what happened and didn’t understand why.
As the first tear slips down my cheek and his hand cups my face, wiping it away- I break down. Fully sobbing now. I throw myself into his chest and he holds me. My hands gripping his cotton shirt tightly as I close my eyes, burying my face into his shoulder.
“Yn, hey- shh,” he strokes my hair gently holding me, “if he wasn’t my best mate- I’d have hung him off the astronomy tower first thing.”
I let out a small laugh, probably sounding like I choked on my breath. We stay like that for a moment and I open my eyes once more as I hear footsteps coming down the stairs from the entrance of the common room.
I hold my breath as he comes into view, his eyes fierce but tired. He skips down the stairs and another pair of steps follows quickly after. Another Slytherin girl, Felice, I believe. “Wait up, Matt!” She hurries down after Mattheo, quickly hooking her arm with his but he seems unbothered, barely grazing her with his eyes. His walk determined and heading for his dorm room.
For a brief moment our eyes meet- time seems to slow down. But as quickly as he came- he left. With her.
“-yn?” I glance up at Theo, who’s holding me at arms length. “Are you okay?” He obviously hasn’t seen them both. Probably coming from that same party. Probably doing- Merlin knows what. Will he kiss her? The way he kissed me? Hold her and call her beautiful? Make her feel special and wanted?
“Hey-“ Theo slightly shakes me and I blink a few times.
“Yeah- sure.” I clear my throat and step back, his hands falling from my arms. “I need some food.”
I turn swiftly and head toward the stairs, ready to run. “Yn-“ His hand holds my arm once more stopping me in my tracks.
“What?” I sound harsh, not meaning it that way but he frowns, his hand dropping.
“If you can’t talk to me about it- talk to Pansy, alright?” He sounds stern and scolding, like a parent ready to give me house arrest if I snapped once more.
“Sorry, Teddy. I will, okay?” He nods, watching me walk off and I hurry out, ready to dive into some food and forget about my broken heart.
__
It happened a few more times on which I spotted him with a girl, enjoying himself but looking tired. Why is he so tired? Enzo blurted out that he tosses a lot at night. And murmurs in his sleep. The urge to cross the room and shake him, asking for his well-being.. it grew so strong. I had to snap back into reality to regain my focus on the present.
“If you keep chewing on your lip- there won’t be any more need for a red lipstick.” Pansy drops and keeps eating her breakfast. I glance over and gulp, having been caught once again. Her gaze is fixed on the table, pouring more syrup on her waffles.
“And if you keep eating so much syrup-“
Pansy glares at Draco, stopping him mid-sentence. The smirk on his face drops and he looks ahead, a slight red tint on his cheeks. “Thought so-“ Pansy mumbles and turns back to her food, aggressively pouring even more syrup and looking at Draco. He avoids her eyes.
I grin and giggle as Theo suddenly plops down next to me, a deep satisfied sigh leaving him. “Hello everyone, I hope you had a wonderful night.” We all stare at him as he fills his plate generously, starting to dig in some eggs and toast. His loud chewing triggering me. He glances up and stops. “Mhuat?” He asks with a mouth full.
“What has you all cheery and delighted?” Blaise pipes up from across with a smirk, and I wonder if he already knows. Theo sends him a look and shakes his head, continuing to eat.
“Nothing. Why?”
“You seem oddly happy.” I add and pop another strawberry into my mouth.
“Oh! Yeah, I almost forgot to tell you-“ He turns to me and holds my shoulder, tilting his head down, giving me a goofy smile. I can’t help but grin back with a raised eyebrow.
“-we’re going to go on a date today, just you and me.” My confused look must have felt like a rejection as he frowns, his hand still on me. The gears turning in my head as I start to register his words.
"What?"
"A... date? Teddy—"
"—no! No, not like a romantic candlelight dinner date. Just a friendly date. A playdate— I mean, you know?" His cheeks grow red as he fumbles with his words and I giggle, leaning forward to slap his shoulder.
"You're a bloody git!"
"Is that a— yes?"
"Yes." I roll my eyes and a wave of relief and excitement surged through him. Without missing a beat, Theo pumped his fist in the air and struck a triumphant pose.
"I still got it."
"You're terrible, Theo" Pansy adds and glares at him playfully. "I thought I needed to slap you too." Her words sink in and my smile slightly falters for a brief moment. But I replace it with a fake one, only glancing over to him once more. Sitting close by and probably having heard everything. A new girl by his side, chewing his ear off as she rambles on, not even having touched her food. His eyes don't find me, but rather an oblivious Theo. The deadly stare almost having me in a choke.
We walked arm in arm, Theo’s laughter echoing in the cool air as he recounted a story from our younger years, how we accidentally hexed another student and left them with bright green hair in Potions class. I laughed along, grateful for the distraction.
As we approached Honeydukes, Theo suddenly suggested we stop for some sweets before dinner. “You can’t go to the Three Broomsticks without a handful of Chocolate Frogs,” he said with a grin, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
“Is that so?” I teased, nudging him playfully. “Or is this just your excuse to load up on sweets?”
“Maybe a bit of both,” he admitted, flashing me that charming smile that had gotten us both out of trouble countless times over the years.
We stepped inside the shop, and I let the warm, sugary scent wash over me, trying to forget about everything that had been weighing on my mind. Theo led me through the aisles, pointing out our favorite treats and making jokes that had me laughing in spite of myself. For a moment, it was just like old times, before everything got complicated.
But then, as we were browsing, something caught Theo’s eye. I followed his gaze and felt my heart stutter in my chest. Standing just outside the shop, leaning against the wall with that same brooding expression I had come to know too well, was Mattheo. And he wasn’t alone—a girl I didn’t recognize was with him, standing too close, her hand brushing against his arm.
Theo stiffened beside me, his playful demeanor faltering for just a moment. “Let’s get out of here,” he said softly, his voice steady but laced with something I couldn’t quite place. He grabbed my hand, leading me toward the counter to pay for the sweets. I followed him, trying to keep my emotions in check, but the sight of Mattheo with someone else had left me reeling.
The rain came down in torrents, soaking us to the bone as we stepped out of Honeydukes. The earlier warmth of the evening had vanished, replaced by a biting chill that seemed to seep into my very core. Theo held my hand tightly, guiding me through the downpour as we headed toward the Three Broomsticks. His usual lightheartedness was gone, replaced by a tension I couldn’t quite place.
Just as we reached the midpoint, I spotted Mattheo. He was standing across, still leaning against the wall, his eyes dark and stormy as they locked onto us. The girl beside him said something, but he didn’t seem to hear her, his focus entirely on Theo and me. My heart twisted at the sight of him—he looked like he hadn’t slept in days, his expression a mixture of anger and something deeper, something that sent a shiver down my spine.
Before I could react, Mattheo pushed away from the wall and started toward us, his movements sharp and deliberate. The girl called after him, but he ignored her, his gaze never leaving me. The rain blurred his figure slightly, but I could see the tension in his posture, the way his fists clenched at his sides as he approached.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Mattheo’s voice was low, dangerous, and filled with an anger as he addressed Theo. He stopped just a few feet away, the rain pouring down between us like a curtain.
Theo squared his shoulders, his jaw tightening as he faced Mattheo. “Taking care of her,” he replied, his tone steady but laced with frustration. “Something you should have been doing instead of running away.”
“Taking care of her?” Mattheo’s eyes flashed with fury as he stepped closer, his voice rising. “By dragging her out here and parading her around? What the hell is wrong with you?”
I tried to step between them, to calm them down, but they were too focused on each other, the storm between them raging out of control. “Stop it, both of you!” I shouted, but my voice was lost in the wind and rain.
Theo didn’t back down, his eyes locked on Mattheo’s. “What’s really wrong, Mattheo? Is it that I’m here for her, or that you know you should be?”
Mattheo’s fists clenched even tighter, and for a moment, I thought he might actually hit Theo. “You don’t know what you’re talking about,” he growled, his voice shaking with barely restrained emotion. “You have no idea what I’ve been through, what I’ve been trying to protect her from.”
“Protect her?” Theo’s voice rose with incredulity, and he took a step closer, his face inches from Mattheo’s. “You don’t get to play the martyr here, Mattheo. You left her! You broke her heart because you were too much of a coward to face your own feelings!”
Mattheo’s eyes widened in shock, and for a split second, the anger faltered, replaced by something that looked like betrayal. Then, without warning, he shoved Theo hard, sending him stumbling back a few steps. “You don’t know anything!” Mattheo shouted, his voice cracking with the weight of his emotions.
Theo recovered quickly, his face contorted with a mix of anger and shock. “I know more than you think,” he shot back, his voice cold. “I know you’re scared, Mattheo. Scared of how much you care about her. Scared that if you let yourself love her, you’ll lose her. And instead of facing that, you ran. You ran because you couldn’t handle the thought of losing her, even if it meant breaking her heart!”
The words hung in the air, heavy and suffocating, as Mattheo stared at Theo, his face pale as if the truth had been dragged out of him against his will. The tension between them was electric, the storm around us seeming to mirror the storm inside Mattheo.
I felt my heart pound in my chest, the world spinning as the realization hit me—Theo had known all along. He had known why Mattheo ended things, and he had kept it from me.
Mattheo’s breath was ragged, his eyes wild with a mixture of fury and pain. “You think you know me so well?” he hissed, shoving Theo again, harder this time. “You think you have all the answers? You have no idea what it’s like to be me, to have to constantly worry about losing everything you care about. I was trying to protect her!”
Theo pushed back, and suddenly they were throwing fists, their anger boiling over into physical blows. I screamed for them to stop, but they were too far gone, too consumed by their emotions. They grappled in the rain, slipping on the wet cobblestones, their shouts mingling with the roar of the storm.
“You don’t get to decide what’s best for her!” Theo yelled as he landed a punch to Mattheo’s jaw. “You don’t get to break her heart and then claim it was for her own good!”
Mattheo staggered back, wiping blood from his lip, his eyes filled with anguish. “I didn’t want to hurt her!” he shouted, his voice breaking as he swung at Theo again. “I didn’t want to put her in danger! But I couldn’t... I couldn’t stop caring about her. And that scared the hell out of me!”
Theo blocked the punch, pushing Mattheo away with a look of raw fury. “Then you should have stayed! You should have fought for her instead of running like a coward!”
Mattheo’s shoulders slumped as the fight seemed to drain out of him, the weight of his guilt and fear finally breaking through. He looked at me then, his eyes filled with a pain so deep it made my breath catch. “I was scared, Y/N,” he confessed, his voice trembling. “I’ve never cared about anyone like I care about you. I didn’t know how to handle it, how to deal with the thought of losing you. So I pushed you away, thinking it would be easier. But it wasn’t. It was hell. I was trying to protect you, but all I did was hurt you.”
The confession hung in the air, raw and unfiltered, as the rain poured down around us. The world seemed to stand still as I stared at him, my heart aching with the truth of his words.
Theo stepped back, his chest heaving with the effort of holding back his own emotions. He looked at Mattheo, then at me, and finally, the anger in his eyes softened. “He’s telling the truth, Y/N,” Theo said quietly, his voice hoarse from the shouting. “He was scared, and he messed up.”
Mattheo’s gaze locked onto mine, his eyes pleading. “I know I don’t deserve another chance, but I need you to know that I never stopped caring. I never stopped needing you. And if there’s even the slightest chance that you can forgive me, I’ll do whatever it takes to prove that I’m not going to run away again.”
The rain continued to pour, drenching us all, but I barely felt it. All I could see was Mattheo, standing there with his heart on his sleeve, vulnerable in a way I had never seen before. And I realized that despite everything, despite the pain and the anger, I still cared. I still felt something for him, something deep and undeniable.
I took a shaky breath, my voice barely a whisper as I spoke. “You broke my heart, Mattheo. But if you’re serious about making things right... if you’re really willing to fight for this... then maybe, just maybe, we can find a way to fix what’s been broken.”
Mattheo’s eyes widened in surprise, hope flickering in their depths. “I’ll prove it to you, Y/N. I swear I will.”
Theo, drenched and exhausted, gave me a small nod of approval, stepping back to give us space. The tension between them had finally eased, replaced by an unspoken understanding.
As we stood there in the pouring rain, I realized that this wasn’t the end of our story—it was the beginning of something new. Something that would take time, patience, and a lot of healing. But for the first time in a long time, I felt like we were on the right path.
“Okay.”
I’m so sorry this is so longggg even though you requested a short story, I got carried away 🥹🤞🏼I hope you still enjoy 💜

lipstick — yandere! enzo berkshire & yandere! draco malfoy x gn! gryffindor! reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
tws: toxic/possessive/obsessive behavior, slut shaming, implied sexual content? (question mark?)
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
“Look at stupid Potter. With his stupid scar, and his stupid friends, and his stupid Y/N.”
“His?” Enzo laughs. “Y/N is not his.”
“Not if we can help it,” Draco mumbles.
The pair watches in silence as you throw a snowball at the ginger weasel, ducking behind Harry when the bloodtraitor tries to retaliate.
Harry scooped you up in his arms, like a valiant prince coming to save the day.
They can both hear your clear laugh, even from the other side of the courtyard. It makes them both seethe with anger.
~~~
“C’monnnn,” you pleaded, tugging at Harry’s arm. “I have friends other than you. I wanna talk to Luna and Pansy and Blaise.”
Harry rolled his eyes, not putting up much of a fight as you dragged him into the Great Hall.
It was a new thing this season, to promote house unity, or whatever. The heads of houses had come up with the idea; tea, cocoa, and cookies in the Great Hall every Friday evening. Everyone welcome.
The Great Hall is dimmer than usual, not all of the floating candles lit. A few dozen student of all houses mingle and meander.
A group of kids sat on a blanket on the cool stone floor, almost as if it were a picnic.
Another group had thrown blankets and sheets over part of the ridiculously long tables, creating a blanket fort underneath.
You headed straight over to where Luna was painting Pansy’s nails. They greeted you with laughter as Luna’s unsteady hand got orange nail polish all over Pansy’s knuckle.
You gasp. “Harry! Let me paint your nails! Pleaseeee?”
He shrugged, looking over the myriad of colors laid out. He picked one up and held it out towards you.
“Snitch gold, for luck.”
You laugh, accepting the bottle and pointing for him to sit down.
“You don’t need luck, Harry. You’re you.”
Across the room, two Slytherins clocked Potter’s shy grin and bright blush.
~~~
You sat down with your friends, a wicked game of truth or dare already in full effect. As predicted, Gryffindor had won their game against Hufflepuff, resulting in a very large house party. You’d noticed a few Ravenclaws around and wondered how they got in, until you saw the Slytherins, the lions’ main suppliers of firewhiskey and good times.
“I dare you…” Ginny trailed off as she thought. A wicked grin spread across her face. “I dare you to wear that failed blue glitter lipstick that me and Cho made.”
You roll your eyes. “Oh, please. That’s easy.”
“For the whole day tomorrow.”
You raise an eyebrow. “I’m not afraid. Bring it on.”
~~~ “Draco!” Enzo hissed as he harshly elbowed his friend in the ribs.
“Ow. What?” He followed Enzo’s finger, pointing straight at the Gryffindor table. “What am I looking at?”
“Potter.”
Harry James Potter was furiously scrubbing at his skin with a napkin as you, Ginny, Ron, and Hermione were all practically howling with laughter.
Sure enough, you were true to your word, wearing that ridiculously tacky lipstick that stood out like a beacon when surrounded by all of that garish red and gold.
Harry let out a visible sigh, tossing down the napkin and sitting back in his chair, arms crossed over his chest in an obvious sulk.
Right there, smack dab in the middle of his cheek, was a perfect blue stain from a kiss.
Draco’s ears burned with rage.
“Nope. Come on, Enz. We’ve waited damn long enough.”
~~~ “It’s not coming off, guys,” Harry whined.
“Why do you think we called it failed?” Ginny laughs, the blue smudge on his cheek looking quite comical. “That’s what happened when we tried to wear it.”
You snicker. “You look good in blue, Harry,” you teased, enjoying the faint blush that settled over his cheeks.
You suddenly felt a heavy hand come down on your shoulder, tightening to the point where it was almost painful.
You whirled around, surprised to see two Slytherins you’d barely talked to.
Harry sneered at the sight of his long-time rival, Malfoy. “What do you gits want?”
They both ignored him, as if he wasn’t there at all.
“We need to talk to you,” Enzo snapped, his hand on your shoulder tightening even more as he all but dragged you out of your seat.
You stumbled after him as Draco propelled you forward with a firm hand on the small of your back.
The two boys dragged you out into the hall, away from prying eyes. Draco wasted no time before shoving you up against the wall in a secluded alcove.
“The fuck do you think you’re doing, kissing Potter?”
“W-what?” You stammered, your brain not yet having caught up with the situation.
Enzo scoffed. “Whoring yourself out to anyone who blushes at you, huh?”
“What?”
“How long have you been sleeping with him, hm? How long?”
“Wh- Harry? We’re friends!”
“Friends, huh? Friends?” Enzo scoffed.
“Yes!” You snapped. “Who d’you think you are, questioning my- mmfph!”
Draco surged forward and kissed you harshly.
~~~
Enzo Berkshire, Draco Malfoy, and Y/N L/N all stumbled into Defense Against the Dark Arts twenty minutes late, their clothes rumpled and their skin stained with blue lipstick.
attention is what i want! | theo. nott
Tumblr media
pairing: theodore nott x fem!reader
genre: pining, one sided crushes, angst !!, complicated feelings, theo is a dick tbh, humor (my attempt at it), reader embarrasses herself (multiple time), girls girls pansy, reader are friends with the golden trio but isn’t a gryffindor, cursing, drinking, a bit suggestive in the end hehe
wc: 4.3k (idk how it got this long, i planned to write sth with like 2k at most but it kept going)
note: i wrote this while listening to attention by new jeans for two hours straight (yay pining!) i have very mixed feelings for this fic but here it is anyways!
summary: it’s no secret that you have a crush on theodore nott, theo knows it, hell the whole school knew it; maybe if they didn’t then it’d be easier for you to get over him after you embarrassed yourself in front of the whole school. at least you got a new friend because of it.
Tumblr media
To say you had a crush on Theodore Nott would be an understatement. You never actually confessed to the Slytherin but it's as clear as days that you were into him.
And when he was as good looking as he was, could anyone really blame you?
Not really, not when most of Hogwarts found your attempt at shooting your shot with him the most amusing thing ever.
"Good morning, Nott." Your hand shot upwards the second the Slytherin enters the classroom. His eyes settling on you whilst his friends bickers behind him. "I saved you a seat."
There's snickering from behind you, hushed whispers as your classmate gossips about your pathetic attempt at getting with Theodore once more.
His eyes scans the room, finally settling on one of the two empty seats behind the class and B-lining towards it. Zabini, having lost to Malfoy at grabbing the seat next to Theodore smiles at you kindly. Maybe even apologetically as he sits next to you.
"Better luck next time?" He offers, trying to lighten your mood and you smile back, nodding. "You'll get him eventually."
And though your voice is low, barely audible and muffled; Zabini still manages to hear you huff out a: "doubt it."
Tumblr media
"Do you think he'd pay attention to me if I dyed my hair green?" You ask, playing with your hair.
Sure, your hair would end up damaged but if it meant Theodore would spare a glance your way then you'd take it.
Harry looks at you as if you'd grown an extra head, green eyes enlarged as he tries to gauge whether you were serious or not. "Excuse me?"
"I think I could pull of forest green hair."
Hermione rolls her eyes. "No, you can't." She doesn't really mean it though, she does agree that you'd probably pull off forest green hair but she'd rather you do it for your own personal wants rather than to gain someone else's attention. "And you won't."
You only huff at her words. "Why not?"
"Because, it's stupid. You'd look stupid doing so." Mione doesn't bother sugarcoating it, she doesn't need to when you've known her as long as you have. "If you need his attention so badly then ask him out, just drop the question and get it over with."
"I'm trying to!" You groan, passing your plate with leftovers over to Ron who accepts it gladly. "I could walk naked in front of him and he wouldn't even bat an eyelash."
Ron face scrunches at the idea, finding the prospect of a naked you disgusting. "You could put up a banner," he suggests through a mouthful of food. "I'd notice someone if they put up a banner with my name on it."
And when Hermione's whacked Ron at him encouraging what she deemed was self destructive behavior, the conversation shifts to something else completely.
Tumblr media
You're huffing and puffing when you straighten up, showing your three closest friends what you'd been working on for the last two days. "What do you think?"
Ron gasps loudly, eyes wide as he takes in the imagine in front of him. "You're crazy."
"If you'd just—" Hermione, as if it was second nature, reaches up and smack at his arm. "—learnt how to shut up, this wouldn't have happened."
It's only natural for you to frown at their reaction, brows knitted as you asked them. "Is it too much?"
Harry, and his sweet sweet soul tries his best to not hurt your feelings as he nodded. "Maybe?" He tries to soften the blow, adding on: "I think it's brilliant, it's just ... a lot."
You look over your masterpiece. Reading out the glittering paint, letter by letter and watching it as it takes shape into one of the biggest banner you've seen at Hogwarts by far.
Written in shining green paint were the words:
A-T-T-E-N-T-I-O-N, attention is what I want. Nott, go out with me?
"I mean, if anything you'll definitely get his attention with that," Harry says, blinking rapidly at the banner. "It's pretty hard to miss."
"Let's hope so."
Tumblr media
The dining hall is louder than normal, it has always been noisy; having seated thousands of teenagers who had little to none supervision during their breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
But like Theodore has noted earlier, it's noisier than normal. And the drop of voices is significant when he steps through the large doors, loud gossips turns to hushed whispers; eyes roaming between him and a figure by the Gryffindor table.
It doesn't take him long to notice why, a dust of glitter falling down on him from above. He glances up, eyes squinting as he reads out the banner before him.
A-T-T-E-N-T-I-O-N, attention is what I want. Nott, go out with me?
The letters are bright, glinting under the candle light as if it was taunting him, pushing at his buttons for a reaction. And though, there was no name written on the banner to indicate who'd made it; he knew that it was you.
Dark eyes narrows as he zones in on you. You dressed up nicely, watching him with a pretty smile on your waiting face.
And when all he did was roll his eyes and turn towards the Slytherin table, without sparing you another look. You all but deflated in front of everyone's eyes.
You knew it was stupid, and that it was all your fault to make your love life so public for everyone to entertain themselves with, but you can't help but feel hurt at the laughter bubbling through out the hall.
You're scrambling out of your seat, rushing out of the hall when a voice shouts out. "Serves you right, pick me!"
Oddly enough, it's Pansy who speaks up; her voice loud and clearly irritated when she shouts back, telling them to go and: "Fuck yourself."
Why the Slytherin threw a dirty glare at her friend and ran after you despite the two of you not being friends —let alone having been seen together before, was a mystery to everyone.
And since Hermione loves you too much for her own good, she’s quick to scramble out of her seat, casting a spell to set the banner up in flames as she rushed after Pansy and you.
Tumblr media
There’s a sort of guilt that Hermione feels when she finds you hunched over with Pansy’s hand running up and down your back. The two of you weren’t friends, neither is Hermione and Pansy but when a girl’s in need of comfort, it’s only normal for them to be there for her.
“I don’t get why you’re into him, honestly,” Pansy grits out, “out of all the boys in Slytherin you just had to choose the dickhead, didn’t you?”
Hermione can hear you sniffle out a laugh as she takes a seat on your other side. “Out of all the boys in Hogwarts you just had to choose the dickhead, huh?”
Pansy and Hermione are sharing a grin as you lift your head up slightly, a small smile tugging at your lips. “It’s not like I wanted to like him, you know?” You say with a small laugh. “I guess I’m just attracted to an asshole.”
“You’re guessing this now?” Pansy says with a roll of her eyes, there’s no venom in her tone, only playful annoyance. “This isn’t the first time he’s treated you like this. I’ve heard all about your … attempts, you know?”
“Really?” You’re laughing and the hurt in your tone is clearer than ever. “How embarrassing.”
“It’s not,” Hermione reassured you, “if anything I think it’s endearing.”
“Me making a fool of myself for a guy is endearing to you?”
Pansy giggles at your words. “I’ve done worse, maybe just not so publicly.” Her voice is playful when she adds on, “but this should be the final nail in the coffin right? Finally getting over that asshole after this?”
“That asshole is your best friend,” you remind her and she looks to her side bashfully.
“That doesn’t excuse him for being horrible to you,” she mumbled. “And I thought Draco was bad.”
“Malfoy is bad,” Hermione chimes in. “He just didn’t humiliate you like Nott did her.”
Pansy tilts her head to the side in thought. “Maybe. Or maybe we should just stop dating Slytherin guys over all.”
Hermione only smiles fondly at her words. “Maybe.”
Tumblr media
You’re doing fine. Or as fine as one could be after a publicly humiliating confession. You’re still very you, smiling at Theodore every chance you get even though you’ve told your friends (now extended to Pansy) multiple times that you were getting over him.
The only BIG difference that anyone noticed after your rejection was that you no longer attempted to get closer to Theodore. You don’t save him seats, you don’t tell him good morning, and they’d be lying if they said it wasn’t weird.
“Is this seat taken?”
You look up, eyes widening at the person in front of you and nodded. “I’m saving it for someone.” You pray to Merlin that he doesn’t hear the waver in your voice as you did so. “Is there something you needed?”
He doesn’t answer you, instead placing his book bag on your desk. You try to control the butterflies caged in your stomach, fluttering at the sight of his forearm flexing as he did so. “You’re saving it for me? Like always?”
You blink at him. “… no. I’m saving it for Blaise.”
“Huh,” he hums thoughtfully, “you’re in first name basis now?”
You move to your right when he takes his seat to your left, trying to distance yourself from him. “What do you want?”
He looks at you and your pretense of being over him crumbles all over, tumbling as he nearly knocks you off your feet just how intense his gaze is. And though you’ve always wanted his attention, for him to look at you back like he’s doing now. You can’t help but feel sick to your stomach with how much you still liked him.
“Attention is what you want, right?”
What is he playing at? “Not anymore.”
“Shame.” There’s a slight smile at your answer. “I was finally ready to give it to you.”
Tumblr media
“He said that?” Pansy repeats your words back to you, her hand moving away from your face as she dips it back into the face mask she’d mixed up. “That’s weird.”
“That’s what I thought,” you murmur, feeling Hermione kick her feet into your lap. “I’m so confused right now.”
“Maybe he’s playing hard to get?” Hermione suggests. “Even if he is I hope he knows the only hard thing he’s getting is a rock thrown at his face.”
It’s clear that she’s taken your rejection harder than you did, grumbling at the thought of him. “A text book if he’s lucky.”
Pansy finishes up your face mask and sets the bowl down. “I told him to apologise to you, not to go and bother you," she says, frowning slightly.
“You told him to apologise?” The tone of the conversation shifts, downing just the slightest bit.
Pansy avoids your eyes as she nods, “I just wanted him to say sorry for how he treated you, you didn’t deserve that. But that fucker decided to go and do something weird, I’m sorry, lovely.”
When she’s taken up the nickname lovely for you, you don’t know. But you’re too much into your head to say anything about it. “Please don’t do that. Don’t meddle with this just because you pity me. I can handle this by myself.”
“I don’t—” Pansy pauses, realising the weight of her actions “—I’m sorry, I promise I’ll leave you be.”
You’re nodding when you tell her: “thank you.”
Tumblr media
Trying to jot down notes does nothing to soothe your nerves, and it definitely doesn’t distract you from the fact that Theodore Nott is sitting so damn close to you. So close that your thighs were touching, and that with any small move you made, your shoulder brushes against his.
Moving your chair to the right is no use, not when he’d move his just so he’d be closer to you. You’re so close you could practically hear him breathe.
It’s when your quill slips off of your desk that you have to confront him about it. You nudge at his thigh with yours, forcing them to his left only for him to look at you curiously. “Can you move?”
“Why?” He asks instead, planting his thighs where they’d been.
“My quill fell, I need to get it.” You explain, avoiding his eyes as best as you could. His attention is not good for your heart, maybe it two weeks ago, but it definitely wasn’t now.
Theodore is uninterested and unmoving when he quipped back. “And you can’t get like this?”
Not if you didn’t want to plan your face on his lap and be so terribly close to his— yeah no. You sigh, leaning forward to tap at the person’s in front of you shoulder. “Would you mind getting my quill for me please? It’s bit hard for me to reach.”
The person in front nods and leans down to get it for you with a smile. And when they hands it to you, their finger brushing against yours, you distinctly feel Theodore press himself closer to you.
“You could’ve borrowed mine,” Theodore says lowly, eyeing you from above.
He’s slightly taller than you, even when you’re both sat. Trying to prove to him (and yourself) that you were over him, and that this close proximity did not matter to you; you strain your neck up to glare at him. “You could’ve moved.”
“Maybe,” he concurs. “And you could’ve just asked for me to get it for you.”
“Like you’d do that,” you murmur with a roll of your eyes. “For me of all people.”
“For you of all people,” he repeats.
You hate how you instinctively break away from his gaze, looking at your notes as you try to calm your beating heart. Two weeks is nearly not enough to time to get over a crush you’ve been harboring for the longest time, not when you liked him so much you didn’t bother to keep it a secret to anyone and he knows it.
He knows it and he’s using it as an advantage, for what exactly you don’t know. What you do know, is that you need to get away from Theodore Nott. Or kiss him. Whichever works.
You sigh, glancing at your hands and hope that your voice doesn’t tremble when you quietly ask him. “What are you playing at Theodore?” You’re exasperated and he can hear it, he can hear the exhaustion in your voice and he tries his best not to let it get to him. “I know Pansy told you to apologize but you’re not apologizing, you’re just making things worse.”
He doesn’t say anything, though you can still feel his eyes on you. “Excuse me, Professor,” he says suddenly, his shoulder knocking yours as he stood up, “I’m feeling a bit under the weather, would you mind letting me slip to the infirmary?”
His hands are on you, holding firmly onto your wrist as he speaks. “It’s best if I had a friend to help me.” The professor doesn’t get a chance to respond before Theodore is pulling you away from the class.
Your words are jumbled, flailing as you try to match up his pace; you’re confused and against your better judgement, you trust that he wouldn’t hurt you —even if he’d done so many times before.
He comes to a halt by a hallway, it’s quiet still; students having yet left their classes.
He looks at you, dark eyes clouding with emotion and tries to get you to look at him. Practically begging for you to give him your attention before speaking. “How am I making things worse? It’s what you wanted isn’t it?”
“It is,” you say after a minute. “It’s just— this isn’t how I wanted it.
I like you, Theodore. A lot and I’ve made it so clear so many times and you always made it clear that you didn’t like me back. I finally try to get over you and you do this? What even is this? What are you trying to get at, Theo?”
He doesn’t answer you, his hand finally releasing the grip on your wrist to rest by his side.
You scoff, noting how he falls back to his pattern of not speaking to you when you’re practically pouring your heart out to him.
“Why did never ask me out?”
Your expression is puzzled, and he knows that he needs to explain himself, for him to tell you exactly what he meant but can’t bring himself to. Not when he wants to keep his pride in check.
“I did ask you out,” you tell him slowly. “In front of everyone.”
“Exactly,” his reply is breathless as if he had been pondering over this for ages, “in front of everyone. Why didn’t you tell me you like me? Why didn’t you ask me when it’s just you and I?”
“Are you serious?” You let out a ridiculing laugh. “You never wanted to step a single foot next to me and you expected me to ask you when it’s just me and you? Are you kidding me?
Did you ever wonder why I wrote ‘attention is what I want’?”
He’s speechless. And screwed. He can sense that you’re growing agitated with him, and he hates it.
“Would it have changed anything if I had asked you out between you and I?”
His silence is loud enough for you to understand his converted answer.
“Merlin, why did you bring me out here, Theodore?”
Theodore is bad at emotions. He’s bad at feelings, he’s bad at love and everything alike. He doesn’t like you and he’s pretty sure of it. Then why does it bother him so much to know that you no longer wanted anything to do with him.
“I don’t know.”
“Of course you don’t.” You meet his eyes and he knows that this is the end, you’re done with him for good. “Out of all the boys in Hogwarts you just had to be the one I liked, huh?”
Tumblr media
“And that’s it?” Ron ask curiously. “You’re finally getting over him?”
“Mhmm,” you hum, waving at Pansy who waved at you from the end of the dining hall, her Slytherin friends pointedly looking between you, Pansy, and Nott. “Finally am.”
Ron doesn’t need to know that despite your mind being set on getting over Nott, your stomach still did somersault every time you see him —even in your peripheral vision.
And when you smile at him, much like you did to everyone else and he doesn’t smile back at you; you feel your heart break all over again.
It’s your own fault though, falling for a mere stranger who you’d only ever spoken to in classes —all of which having been conversations about school.
“Do I get reward?”
Hermione rolls her eyes. “A reward for doing something we’ve been telling you to do for ages? You wish.”
“I’ve been wishing for something else.” The mischievous look on your face is enough to clue her in on where your mind as gone, scrunching her face as she scowls at you. “Gross.”
“Are you okay though?” Harry asks you lowly. “I know it can be hard to get over crushes.” Take him and Chang for example. “So if you need anything we’re here for you.”
“I’m okay,” you tell him. “Or at least I’ll be.”
Harry offers you a smile, as kind as always. “That’s good then.”
Tumblr media
It’d only be weird for you to visit the Slytherin common room often (courtesy of Pansy) and for you to not run into Theodore at least once.
You’re standing outside the common room, waiting for Pansy to come and get you when the door swings open and he stands there in front of you. He’s in his pajamas, an oversized sweater pooling at his hands.
“What are you doing here?”
Though you’re also in your pajamas, you feel slightly underdressed under his eyes. Only having worn a loose T-shirt and shorts for girls night.
You want to ask him what he’s doing here but it is his house’s common room so you withheld your question to yourself. “Pansy.”
He gives you a once over before glancing back into the common room, it’s roaring with laughters; a bunch of the Slytherin boys deciding to play card games as they indulge themselves with the alcohol they bought with their father’s money.
“Let me walk you in,” he offers, already turning back into the common room; expecting for you to follow after him.
“You don’t need to—” you don’t get to finish your words when Theodore throws you a sharp look. As if he was asking you to protest him on this. You sigh, following after him.
Theodore stays a good distance away, hiding you and your bare legs from the other Slytherins. He doesn’t really have to though, most of them minding their own business until Blaise chirps up to say hi.
“Hello,” you greeted him back, waving at him. Crabbe, now noticing your interaction lets out a low whistle at the sight of you. And Theodore moves closer to you, almost possessively. “I’ll see you in the morning?”
“Mhmm,” Blaise says, humming before turning his attention back to Enzo. “Goodnight, princess.”
There’s a snicker from Goyle, smirking as he says. “You’re stealing Nott’s girl now?”
You only offer him a smile, feeling Theodore come in over closer to you as he hurries you up the stairs. There’s a thump! from behind and you knew, without seeing, that Blaise threw a pillow at the bastards face.
Theodore doesn’t try to hide his amusement when you curse a hex in Crabbe and Goyle’s way, not when Mattheo’s laughter roared across the room at your spell.
“Thank you,” you tell Theodore, and you noticed that his lips are curled; why exactly, you don’t want to know. “Goodnight, Theodore.”
You’re halfway up the stairs when he calls your name, you turn to him. “Yes?”
“Goodnight,” he says, turning on his heel to leave.
You turn back up the stairs, only to pause and look back at him once, twice; before setting off to find Pansy.
Tumblr media
It’s two weeks later when Theodore bumps into you again, this time; quite literally. His hands are on you, stilling you so you wouldn’t fall flat on your ass.
The dance floor is crowded, but it’s to be expected when one of the most popular students at Hogwarts (read: Blaise Zabini) is throwing a birthday party.
You’re —by extension through Pansy, a friend of his which means you needed to be there or he’d be pretty (very) sad about it and pester you about it for the rest of your life.
“Woah!” Your hands lay awkwardly on his chest, trying to push him away whilst trying to balance yourself still. “Watch where you’re going.”
Theodore straightens you up, hands lingering a little too long before letting you go. “Sorry,” he murmurs, “I’m sorry.”
And though you promised yourself to let go off Theodore months ago, you can’t help but feel your heart twist at his words. Skin burning where he’d touch you mere seconds ago.
“It’s fine,” you wave him off, “just be more careful.”
“Yeah.” His tone is breathless, blinking at you slowly as if he couldn’t believe you were so close to him. “You look nice.”
You better hope so, it’s not like you spend an hour getting ready to look anything but nice. And despite your better judgment, you feel butterflies setting off in your stomach once more. But that could’ve also been caused by the mixed concoction you downed five minutes ago.
“Thank you,” you murmur. “You too, Theo.”
“Mhmm,” he hums nodding, his expression is hesitant. “Thank you,” he says, turning his head to the side and under the clubbing lights, you can easily spot the tinging redness at the top of his ears. “Do you want to get out of here?”
“What?” It’s not that you didn’t hear him, it’s that you didn’t want to hear him. Because you knew, damn well, that if he’d just repeated himself you would agree within a heartbeat.
He gulps, and repeat himself. “Do you want to get out of here?”
Maybe your heart is weak, maybe it’s the alcohol, or maybe it’s just Theodore that gets you out of there with him attached to your lips.
His hand pressing into the small of your back as you leaned against the wall, a small groan slipping from his lips when you nipped on it.
Theodore pulls back, eyes wide and roaming your face as he takes your features in; memorising the slope of your nose, the plumpness in your lips, and the apples of your cheeks as if this was the last time he’d be able to do so. And presses his lips to yours once more.
He calls out your name, a free hand reaching up to cup your jaw so you’d look at him. For you to give him the attention he so desperately wanted from you. “I’m sorry,” he says, “I know you probably hate me and I’m so sorry but give me a chance, please.”
His tone is desperate, almost begging as he did so and you wonder if he knew the impact he still had on you. He lets go of your jaw, arm wrapping around your waist, bringing you impossibly closer to him.
“Give me a chance to make it up to you,” he asks of you, mouth pressing wet kisses down your neck as he repeats himself. “Please, please, pretty girl.”
“Theo.” His kisses doesn’t stop, much less falter at your words. “Theo.”
“Mhmm?” He hums against your neck, pulling back to give you his full an undivided attention. “Yes?”
He’s a bit taken aback when you kiss him quickly, chasing your lips as you pulled back. “You have a lot to make up for.”
“I know.” The curled smile of his returns, dark eyes glinting as he looks at you. “But for now let me give you all my attention.”
Fine Line - DallasAlice - E, 12 chapters - "Granger. I hate that he calls you that," Draco said, with something like desperation in his voice. “It makes me fucking sick.” "This again? Are we really doing this?” Hermione shouted at him. “Why? Tell me why you hate that." Draco stepped closer to her, "Because, Granger, Granger is mine. I mean, it’s for me," he replied, his voice softening. “I know that sounds fucking crazy,” Draco said it so quietly Harry almost didn’t hear. A tear started to fall from Hermione’s eyes. It wasn’t just sadness Harry saw on her face, but rage. "It does fucking belong to you, okay, I know it does. I had to ask him to stop calling me my own fucking name,” she shouted at him again, “But he didn’t stop, okay? He still does it, and all it does is make me think of you.” A story of two friends, dancing the fine line between loving each other and being in love. For anyone who has ever been 'just friends'.
summary: what happens when your academic rival of years proposes an offer of fake dating? pure chaos.
pairing: gryffindor!jude bellingham x slytherin!reader
a/n: it’s taken a while for me to write this but thank you for being on this series journey with me! enjoy my loves <3
Tumblr media
a typical saturday night. aka the day where the famous slytherin parties take place. most nights it was for winning matches and others, it was just for the hell of it. the common room decorated in various halloween decor. the group deciding last minute to have a costume party. taking the idea from the muggles and what they do to celebrate the holiday.
"you look smoking hot," pansy whistles at you, as you made your way downstairs. your costume being a vampire. a mini black dress and a black velvet cape with dark red platforms to match the fake blood that dripped from the side of your lips.
"so do you love!" you clapped for her sexy cat costume.
"i think we all look good," draco chips into the conversation.
"you're literally dressed as a wizard. talk about no originality." draco rolls his eyes at theo's statement.
"simplicity is way better than over doing it."
"you didn't put any effort into it," blaise says and stares at the slytherin boy as if he had grown two heads.
"haters are my motivators," draco said, as he walked away to finish putting more snacks and drinks out. it was amazing how much alcohol you guys managed to sneak in.
theo dressed as cupid. supporting the red wings and having the heart bow and arrow. blaise was dressed as beetlejuice. even having his hair spray green and having the exact face paint. you loved that your friends went all out. well minus draco.
"let's pregame this shit and see where the night takes us," pansy yells, not that she had to, but she wanted to get her point across. you guys cheered and each grab a shot to throw back. you missed the way theo, blaise, and pansy smirked at each other. it was going to be a long night.
-
jude felt stupid. why had he let his friends convince him to go to a slytherin party. the gryffindor boy hadn't spoken to her in weeks and now they both were going to be in the same vicinity. 'maybe we still would have been together if i didn't hurt her feelings'. is all he could think about. maybe he would've been by her side right now and maybe just maybe they would've had cute matching costumes. the boy was dressed as a vampire. the top hat and the stupid cape. he decided to put fake blood on the white button up shirt instead of having it on his face.
"you ready mates?" harry shouts for jude and ron. the other gryffindor boy dressed as captain america. ron dressed as spider-man.
"i'm ready to drink to my heart's desire."
"jude, you made that sound incredibly depressing," hermione says, coming down from her side of the common room. she dressed as a fairy. a matching costume that she wanted to do with luna.
"well lets get to it. don't wanna be late," jude mumbles, already walking towards the common room door. he was nervous to see her. what costume would she be wearing? is she as miserable as he is? did she even miss him? will she be wearing that sweet vanilla perfume that drives him crazy? his mind runs a million thoughts.
-
the party is in full swing. everyone holding a cup or two and dancing to the music. your friends had been sneaking glances at each other all night. not that you were really paying attention. too focused on the guy in front of you. a handsome ravenclaw that was about jude's height. maybe a little shorter than him. you know what they say, to get over someone, you must get under someone new. although, you were comparing the boy in front of you to the boy that secretly held your heart.
"so, i found it crazy that we were able to spot a group of doxies. in the middle of spring, right before-" every word fell upon deaf ears, as you watched harry, ron, hermione and jude walk in. suddenly, you felt sick. matching costumes with the one person who you avoided. ever since that day, nothing was normal.
"excuse me," you didn't wait for him to respond, walking away immediately to get a drink. taking a red cup, you poured yourself a drink and downed it. going for a second before pansy stops you.
"you alright love?"
"jude is here."
"why don't you wait in our dorm room? just take a breather really quick," you nodded and maneuver your way around dancing bodies. pansy's eyes follow your movement until she couldn't see you anymore. only then did she wink at harry and the plan was in motion.
"mate, can you help me find something?"
"like what?" jude raised an eyebrow at harry. a drink in his hand, while he heavily eyed his friend.
"i think i lost my ring."
"we just got here and you weren't wearing a ring."
"do have to spell it out for you?"
"what are you talking about?" harry dramatically sighs.
"i had a one-night stand with this slytherin girl and i left my ring in the room. i need to get it now while we're here," harry lied. a damn good lie if you asked him.
"you're impossible mate, lead the way," jude nods his head at harry to take the lead. harry leads the two of them upstairs. catching the eye of hermione and pansy, he slightly nods. step two was officially underway.
-
you sat on your bed, twirling the drink around in the cup. platforms and cape long discarded. what were you suppose to say to him? how much you truly were sorry? that you wished you could take it all back? how ironic that the minute you try to push him away and out of your mind again, he shows up. like he always did. even before the fake dating. he was a pest that wouldn't budge. a stupidly handsome pest.
"it should be in this one." you heard a muffled voice speak from outside the door. the door swings open and jude is pushed inside. you gasp quietly and sit up straighter.
"y/n?" jude stutters out in confusion.
"hi," you softly spoke. the two of you turn attention to the door that was slammed shut. a realization washes over you.
"jude open the door!" you hop off the bed and walk towards the closed door. he turns to pull at the knob, and it was no use.
"it won't open."
"and it won't open until you guys make up!" pansy yells over the loud music. "or make out! whichever comes first."
"no pressure though," ron says. 'no pressure my ass' you mumble to yourself.
hearing the footsteps grow in distance, you knew that they were long gone. you sigh and sit right back on the bed. jude stands there, unsure of what to do. only then does he realize the matching costumes. his heart swoons and breaks all at the same time.
"you're welcomed to sit," you pat the spot next to you. no use in prolonging the situation. it was now or never at this point. jude sits on the bed, making a point to sit at the end of the bed.
"matching costumes, aye?" he looks at you with a lopsided grin. it didn't reach his ears like it normally would've it, but you found it endearing anyway.
"yeah. maybe we're connected in some way," you said, while looking down at your lap. picking lint off your dress that wasn't anywhere to be found.
"like soulmates?" you lift your head meeting his gaze. oh, how you've missed those chocolate brown eyes.
"yeah maybe."
the silence takes over the room again. internally, you were panicking. what do you say? would it be worth it?
"soo."
"soo," he mimicked you. something that you both were used to. you let out a breathy chuckle.
"how are you and lavender?" turning your eyes back to the bottom of your dress. missing the way jude looks at you as if you were crazy. he felt somewhat offended.
"me and lavender? what are you on about?"
"i seen you guys," you shrugged your shoulders. the gryffindor boy scoffs.
"what are we doing here y/n? you put your friends up to this?"
"why would you think that?"
"you're trying to rub it in. well congratulations, you win," jude's voice seemly increasing by the minute. it left you dumbfounded.
"what could i possibly be rubbing in? i'm in the same boat you are!" your own voice getting louder as well.
"yeah right. i doubt you feel anything like the heartless slytherin you are." ouch.
"that's not true!"
"yes, is it. you don't care about anyone but yourself. you've proven that long before." jude was being mean that this point. his yelling and the hatful words that spewed from his mouth.
"that's not true jude! you're absolutely wrong."
"how can i be wrong? huh?"
"because i care about you, you fucking idiot," you yelled, which sends him into silence.
"you're the one that broke it off."
"yeah, because you've hurt my feelings and i don't want to continually go through that."
"i've apologized for it and i spilled my heart out to you. i told you that i would continue to apologize for it." tensions rising once more.
"right right, you're soo apologetic that you turn around and call me a heartless slytherin who only cares about herself," you crossed your arms and faced the wall. you refuse to cry in front of him. jude sighs and looks down at his lap.
"i was just upset. i didn't mean it," jude says in a quieter tone.
"so, every time you're upset with me, you'll throw how slytherins act like this in my face? how i'm a person that feels nothing?" you looked into his brown eyes with glossy eyes.
"y/n i care about you so much that it scares me. i don't know how you feel because you won't let me in. that's all i'm asking-"
"jude i like you too! is that what you want to hear? i hate that i hurt you but you have to understand that i was protecting myself. i've spent so long building walls to guard my heart and here you come. in a few months, you've managed to-"
jude doesn't let you finish, instead placing a hand on your cheek and bringing you in for a kiss. it was tentative until you start kissing him back. the boy's confidence boosts, and he slides his other hand to your waist. pulling you closer to him. you grab the collar of his cape and press into him more. lips crushing together. you missed the way his lips felt on yours.
he bites your lip, asking for permission. you allowed it, opening your mouth just enough for his tongue to squeeze through. without breaking the kiss, you straddle him. one leg sitting on either side of jude's thigh. naturally, his hands find your waist again. tongues exploring each other and fighting for dominance. the kiss comes to stop, hearing something break from the other side of the door. pulling away, you both looked at each other. it wasn't long before you guys share laughter.
"i've missed you," jude's laughter quieting down to confess to you. you wrap your arms around his waist, pulling him into a hug and placing your face in the crook of his neck.
"i've missed you too." jude's arms hug your body tightly, sending warmth to spread throughout you. his head leans into yours and places a kiss onto your head.
"so, what do we do now?" you lift your head to face him, questioning where you go from here. jude gazes into your eyes, a small smile etching its way to his lips.
"we try. think you can manage that?" rising an eyebrow in a teasing manner. you grinned back at him.
"yeah. i think i can manage that."
"to that i have one thing i want to ask you."
"which is?"
"will you officially be my girlfriend? before you answer, know that we need to have open communication and i need you to let me into that pretty little mind of yours," jude says, ending his sentence with playfully pinching your side. you laughed and pushed his hand away.
Pairing: Hermione Granger x Fem!Reader
AU: Friends AU
WARNING: None
——————
Third Person P.O.V:
New York City
Hermione hummed softly as she washed the dishes in the sink, she could hear Pansy talking on the phone to her father. Yelling was actually the better term since it would be a blessing if one of their neighbors didn't come to complain.
"For the last time Father, I don't want nor need, your money! Goodnight!" Pansy huffed angrily as she hung up the phone and put it back on the receiver. Hermione looked over her shoulder and watched as the raven-haired girl sat on the couch and folded her arms across her chest.
"That was either the lottery calling to tell you that you lost, or your fathers called again," Hermione says as Pansy groans and lies onto the fabric, burying her face into the cushion. Hermione just chuckled to herself as she shut off the sink and wiped her hands clean with the towel.
"I don't know why you keep answering, there's no harm in letting it go to the answering machine," she says as Pansy just groans again and turns her face towards the TV. She could see Hermione walk over to the couch and lean against the backrest from the reflection on the screen.
"I know, but what if it's an emergency? Like...his bank is on fire" Pansy grumbled as Hermione smiled and patted her head before walking towards the refrigerator.
One thing was for certain, Pansy missed having money.
"Trust me, if his bank was on fire, you'd sense it. It would be like how a mother knows her child is in danger" Hermione replied as she grabbed a can of Pepsi and shut the fridge.
She heard their front door open, and popped in was Y/n, one of their across-the-hall neighbors and good friend. She smiled and shut the door behind her as she stepped inside.
"Either Pansy is really against her tax return, or she was fighting off her accountant," Y/n says as Pansy pushes herself back up to a sitting position and looks over at Y/n with a glare.
"Or both" she continues as she takes a step back in fear of her. Hermione just smiled as she stepped into the conversation.
"Her father called again" she explains as Y/n nodded and walked over to the couch, taking a seat next to Pansy.
"What did he want this time?" She asked as Pansy leaned her elbows against her knees and huffed again in disbelief.
"He wants me to come home and take over the family firm. He even tried to bribe me with a luxury apartment in London!" Pansy sighed as she rubbed her temples, seemingly utterly annoyed. Y/n and Hermione's eyes catch.
"That guy just grinds my gears," Y/n says sarcastically, earning a soft smack to the back of her head from Hermione once she was close enough. Pansy stood up and took a deep breath, placing her hands at her sides as she walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of wine from the rack above the fridge.
"I don't want to talk about it anymore. Anyways, where's the other three?" She asks as she digs around in one of the drawers for the corkscrew. Hermione looked down at Y/n and raised an eyebrow.
"Harry is downtown for an astronomy conference and Luna is protesting the fishing boats by the docks. As for Draco...where is Cheech, Chong?" She asks as Y/n rolls her eyes and shrugs her shoulders, looking at at her with offense.
"Just because we live together, doesn't mean I know where he is 24/7" Y/n replied as Hermione sat on the top of the backrest, and cracked open her pop.
"Didn't you two hold hands during that haunted house last Halloween, and proceeded to do 'marco pollo' when you got separated?" Pansy asked with a small smirk as she turned the screw into the cork and watched as Y/n gave a glare back toward her.
"You saw those paper spiders! Terrifying," she replied as Pansy popped open the wine bottle and poured some out for herself. Hermione sipped on her Pepsi as Y/n looked up at her with an unimpressed expression.
"Very scary, I'm surprised you survived the encounter" Hermione chuckled as she handed her the soda and ran a hand through Y/n's hair as she stood up from the couch.
Pansy hid a smirk behind her wine glass as she watched Y/n hide her face from any prying eyes, but it was obvious that the simple gesture made her flush. It was cute that she still got nervous around Hermione after all this time of knowing one another, but then again, Hermione didn't help with her unknowing flirtation.
Or maybe she did know?
Pansy still hadn't gotten a clear-cut answer from her when they would stay up and talk about their relationship problems or lack thereof a relationship. Yet, she seemed to hold back when talking about her interests in one person.
She always said a 'certain someone'.
It had to be Y/n, it was way too obvious with the stolen glances and touches they gave each other on a daily basis. So, Pansy has been very ingrained in their relationship.
But she would be lying if she, Draco, Luna, and Harry, weren't all rooting for them to get together. Like the friends they are, they try their best to put them in romantic situations.
Hermione had even begun to notice their involvement in her love life. Maybe her secret wasn't as hush-hush as she thought.
"So...what are you two up to tonight? Any plans? Maybe dates?" Pansy asks with a raised eyebrow as she watches Hermione pour her own glass of wine. Y/n looked back at them with intrigue as she sipped on the last of the Pepsi, not noticing that a bit of Hermione's lipstick was smudging onto her lips.
"I was supposed to go out with this guy tonight, but he canceled. It had to do with something with a fish and his mother...I sort of clocked out of the phone call" Hermione explained with a shrug as Pansy chuckled, and then both women looked at Y/n with their own intrigued expression.
"What about you? Any lady friends that are swooning at the sound of your call?" Hermione hums with a smirk as Y/n rolls her eyes and waves her off. She crunched the empty can and stood up, walking over to the garbage bin.
"Oh, sure. Sharon Stone has been leaving me messages about our next date, and I don't think she's getting the hint" Y/n replied with a slight mumble as she tossed it into the bin. Pansy gently nudged Hermione, their eyes met, and a silent conversation began. Y/n was too busy trying to pick off lint from her shirt to notice.
Finally Pansy just shoved Hermione toward the other girl, earning herself a glare from the brunette. Hermione straightened her back and took a quiet breath before placing her hand on the middle of Y/n's back, capturing her attention.
"Do you want to do something with me tonight? I think we could find something to do on such short notice" Hermione asked with a small smile and Y/n nodded in agreement as she tried to keep her face from bursting into flames.
"Uh, sure! What do you have in mind?" Y/n asks as she absentmindedly pushes the wrinkles off her shirt and straightens her posture. Hermione sort of shrugged as she looked at the time on her watch, it read '7:37 P.M'.
"How about we grab a late dinner first? Somewhere around here, and we'll figure out the rest later" Hermione asks, and Y/n quickly to nodded. She stepped towards the door, before running into it. The girls chuckled as they watched their friend quickly open and shut the door behind her, before running over to the apartment across the way.
"So...what are you going to wear?" Pansy asked, which caused them both to look at each other. There was a beat of silence before Hermione darted towards the bathroom and Pansy placed down her wine and ran into the brunette's room to find something for her.
"Why did I say dinner?! I don't have time to get ready!" Hermione yelled as she stripped and jumped into the shower, as soon as the cold water hit her skin, she fought back the urge to run out.
"Why do you dress like a school teacher?!" Pansy yelled back as she desperately looked for something that didn't say 'what's 12 multiplied by 9?'. Hermione rolled her eyes as the water began to heat up, letting her quickly relax as she rang her shampoo through her locks.
Pansy finally found a shirt that was good enough and the pair of jeans that she knew fit her friend like a glove. As she emerged from the room, Hermione also left the bathroom with a towel around her head and body.
"God, what if she thinks this is just a friendly outing? I mean it's Y/n, I love her, but...it's her." Hermione sighed as she took the clothes and ran into her room, shutting the door behind her as Pansy walked over and leaned against the wall. Y/n was quick-witted, but her obliviousness to anything romantic, it made it hard for anyone who liked to play cat and mouse.
Y/n was a blind cat that walked past the mice.
"Well, you better be direct then. Maybe state that you want to be more than just friends?" Pansy asks as she listens to the clattering of makeup and the whirling of a hair dryer. Hermione sighed as she felt the hot air from the machine heat her scalp as she tried to quickly dry it before Y/n returned.
"What if she doesn't feel that same? This could ruin our friendship and the group" Hermione yelled over the loud humming, to which Pansy just snickered.
"Seriously? You two have been pining over each other for years, why wouldn't she feel that same?" Pansy yelled back as she heard the sound of the hair dryer turning off. Hermione shrugged, even though Pansy couldn't see it.
"I don't know, maybe I'm just anxious? What if all this fascination was all for nothing? What if she secretly collects dolls that look like her mother?" Hermione says as she shudders at the thought, Pansy walks into the room and rolls her eyes.
"I tell you about one of my nightmares exes, and now that's your biggest fear" she sighs as she crosses her arms, watching as Hermione changed into her clothes.
"I'm sorry Pans, but you know what I mean" Hermione explained as she sat back down in front of her vanity mirror. She didn't want to be disappointed, but a part of her didn't believe Y/n would.
"Everyone has their quirks...some worse than others, much, much worse." Pansy hummed as she walked over and sat on her friend's bed, crossing one leg over the other as she stared up at the ceiling.
The girls hoped this would go well.
——————
Y/n ran into her apartment and slammed the door behind her as she tried to figure out what she was going to wear. She goes to run to her room but then stops. Then she goes to run to the bathroom then stops again.
"Oh god, what do I do first?! This is a harder decision than when Draco tries to pick one ice cream flavor" she sighs as she runs her fingers through her hair. Thankfully, her roommate, Draco, walked through the door with a whistle.
"Draco! Thank god, I need your help" Y/n quickly says as she runs up to him, he raises an eyebrow and places a bag of Chinese food on the kitchen counter.
"Can it wait till after we eat? Because I'm starved" he says, but she quickly shakes her head and starts to explain. Her frazzled state actually spooked Draco, but he didn't want to say that out loud.
"I can't, I'm going out to dinner with Hermione...maybe it's even a date" she says with a bit of excitement as Draco walks past her to sit on the couch. He didn't really register what was said, instead just humming as he sat down.
"Cool, cool. Where are you guys going?" He asks nonchalantly as he places both servings of food on the coffee table. Draco was a secret food lover. He could eat until his stomach popped but always refrained due to his diet.
Yet, when Y/n couldn't eat her portion of dinner? Draco always gave the 'well I can't let it go to waste' excuse, as he stuffed his face in the process.
Y/n stared at him with furrowed brows, she understood that her roommate was a bit of a 'selective hearing' kind of person, but seriously? She turned and looked at herself in the reflection on the stove door.
It took a moment of silence before Draco finally registered what was said. His head snaps up as his eyes widen in surprise, he fumbles with the container in his hands, making sure not to drop it.
"Wait. You're going on a date? With Hermione? The girl you've been in love with since you met her? And she does know about this date, correct? It's not a delusional idea that will get you on the eleven o'clock news?" He asked with a raised eyebrow, which got him an eye roll in return as he watched Y/n walk over to the couch. She thought for a moment.
"No...no. She asked me out" Y/n states as she makes sure that her memory actually was correct. Draco wrapped an arm around Y/n's neck and grinned happily while patting her shoulder.
"Alright! That's what I'm talking about! So, when do you have to get ready?" He asks and that caused a pause in their conversation. They stared at one another before Y/n quickly ran to her room, tripping over the coffee table in the process. She immediately got up and began looking for clothes as Draco just shrugged and went back to eating his two meals.
8:03 P.M.
Simultaneously, both of the women stepped into the hallway and were taken by surprise to see the other. Their eyes roamed each other's bodies for a moment before Y/n finally said something.
"You look...wow," she says as their gazes lock and Hermione turns bashful. Her head lowers to look at herself. Did she look nice? Was the 'wow' a good 'wow' or a bad 'wow'? Now she was anxious.
"In a good way?" she asks and Y/n nods in confusion. Acting as if Hermione had uttered something blasphemous. It was almost comical.
"Good, very good! You just...wow. You take my breath away" Y/n mutters, which had Hermione taking a small breath to steady her heart rate. These moments were few and far between. Where they were the only ones, where Y/n didn't joke every five seconds, and Hermione gave a jab in return.
"You're going to make the sprinkles go off if you keep making my cheeks burn like this" Hermione chuckled as she looked back at Y/n, giving her a view of her flushed face. It wasn't hard to make Hermione blush, but Y/n had never seen it when she was the reason it surfaced.
"Good idea, I never did learn how to use a fire extinguisher" she replied with a small laugh as they both began to walk towards the stairs, their shoes echoing in different pitches.
"So, where are we going?" Y/n asks as they slowly walk down the steps. Hermione blinked, realizing she had forgotten to think of a place to actually eat.
"Uh, I honestly had forgotten about dinner," she says with an embarrassed chuckle, but Y/n just waved it off and slid slowly down the railing. Hermione couldn't help but chuckle softly as she felt her gaze soften.
"That's alright. How about we grab a few beers and hotdogs, and sit at Central Park?" Y/n asks as she lands on the first floor. Hermione loved that idea. It was a perfect place where it wouldn't make it an obvious date, but it wasn't just a place spent with a friend either. It was also kinda cheesy, but it fit Y/n's personality.
"That sounds perfect," she says breathlessly as Y/n opens the door out into the humid summer air. It felt like stepping into a different world, one that Hermione didn't feel familiar with. She felt a gentle hand land on the space of her back. Her eyes zipped to her left to find Y/n smiling softly at her.
The neons of the Central Perk's sign shined down on them like a heavenly glow. For once Y/n heard the city go silent, just for them. This was new for both of them. They were crossing a line, and both knew it.
"Have I ever told you how beautiful your eyes are?" Hermione whispers as they stare at one another, and Y/n sort of just tilts her head as she feels the brunette take her arm in hers and navigate her slowly down the street.
"Mine? Well, uh...I'm not sure" Y/n stammered as she felt Hermione's hand glide down her forearm and intertwine with hers. As they walked further Y/n became more aware of the city again, hearing the honking from cars and the rumble of the subway beneath their feet.
"Well, they are. They hold a lot of...gutsy" Hermione hummed softly as she followed the barrier between Y/n's iris and and pupil. There was always something that caught her eye when she looked at them.
"Gutsy? Did you learn that from your Word Of The Day Calendar?" Y/n asked with a chuckle as they waited for the walk signal so they could cross. Hermione rolled her eyes but the smile never faltered from her lips.
"Maybe, but that's not the point. You know what I mean, don't you?” Hermione asks as they quickly make their way to the other side of the street. Y/n thought about it but decided to be honest.
“No, but hopefully you'll tell me?” she replied as they walked past a closed antique shop. Hermione took a second to go through exactly how she wanted to word her description. Her eyes took in the window display of computers from the 80’s and dolls that looked too haunted for her taste.
“Your eyes are…brave. Determined. Honest.” Hermione replied before looking back at her, Y/n couldn't help but laugh quietly.
“Brave? I called you over to kill a spider in my shower last week,” she states as she watches Hermione roll her eyes and gently squeeze her hand.
“That may be so, but bravery doesn't just mean facing your fears” the brunette argued as they crossed another street. The streetlights illuminated the road like an airstrip runway, it was quite beautiful.
“It doesn't? That's news to me” Y/n teases as they walk into a 24-hour bodega. They heard a soft meow from a calico cat that was lounging behind a shelf of barbeque chips. Hermione leaned down and smiled at the kitty, reaching out and running her fingers across the underside of its chin.
“It also means being brave enough to embrace who you are, and I do not know anyone more themselves, than you” she added back as she watched Y/n grab a six-pack of beer from the cooler nearby. Hermione stood back up straight, giving a soft ‘bye’ to the cat as she followed her date to the checkout area.
“I think you're confusing my comedian-like…je ne sais quoi, for bravery, when in reality it's just a defense mechanism,” Y/n says as she pulls out her wallet, Hermiome rolls her eyes as she pays with her card before the other woman got the chance.
“You little…anyways, as long as you laugh, I'll take your compliment,” Y/n sighs with a small smile as Hermione playfully rolls her eyes, and loops their arms again, leaving Y/n to carry the beer. The cat meows one last time before stepping back out into the night air.
——————
Their conversation was light and a bit intimate as they walked towards Central Park. The subject of the conversations wasn't all that important, it was as simple as Hermione’s pitiful excuse for a boss, or Y/n’s annoying coworker. Their heads were lowered towards each other, hushed whispers and small chuckles escaping them.
“Hey, there is a cart still out” Y/n points out to a hotdog stand sitting at one of the corners just before the park, Hermione felt her stomach rumble. God, she didn't realize how hungry she actually was.
“Four please,” Y/n says once they were close enough, this time quickly enough to pull out some cash before Hermione could, and she heard a soft ‘huff’ from the brunette because of it.
“It's hotdogs, it's not like I'm paying your car insurance” Y/n chuckled as they split the meal between them, adding their desired condiments to the hotdogs as a nearby bar blasted ‘Jessies Girl’.
“That is not the point” Hermione chuckled as they walked across the street to the park, it was almost 9:30 now, but there were still a lot of people in the area.
“Then what is the point?” Y/n asked with a small smirk as they sat down on a bench in a well-lit area. Hermione opened her mouth, then closed it again before sighing.
“Shut up” she mumbled as she took a bite of her very late dinner. Y/n snickered softly and popped off the tops of their beer, handing her one in the process. Hermione took hold of the drink and gulped down a bit before she bravely brought up her next topic.
She was definitely nervous about it. She couldn't stop thinking about how this could destroy their friend group if it didn't go as she planned. A part of her wanted to grab Y/n’s shoulders and yell that she didn't understand how oblivious she could be.
“So… I need to talk to you about something,” Hermione says after she is sure she has no food or beer left in her mouth. Y/n nodded as she turned to her with her full attention. Even as the dim glow of the path lights along the park, she thought that Hermione had never looked more beautiful.
“Alright, but it better not be over that time I changed the channel while you were in the bathroom. I told you that I didn't know you were watching Grey's Anatomy!” Y/n says with a nervous laugh, but Hermione waves her off as she takes another breath to calm her nerves.
“No, no. Nothing like that,” she replied as her eyes darted around the area surrounding them. Why was this so hard for her to admit? She never had trouble before when she would flirt with other people. Maybe it was because those people weren’t Y/n.
“Listen, do you see this putting as more than…friends?” Hermione asks sheepishly, her gaze flickering from the asphalt under her feet and up to Y/n’s face.
“Well, I…yeah, yeah I do,” Y/n says with a shaky breath. She felt like a kid, stuttering like a skipping record as the girl you like gives you a small smile in the hallway. Hermione body relaxes as she smiles and takes another bite of her hotdog.
“Good, because you’re taking me somewhere nice next weekend” Hermione states with a sly smirk as Y/n stuttered even more. Even though she was only teasing, it was a way to get a proper date out of her longest love interest.
“N-Next weekend? Sure, how’s Saturday night or Friday? I could do Friday, but I can also do Saturday or Sunday!…I just realized how sad my weekends are” Y/n coughed out as she shut her rambling down, and felt her face get hot. It probably wasn’t red, but it just felt like someone belted her face with a hairdryer.
Hermione couldn’t help but laugh as she grasped Y/n’s forearm with a comforting hand, but it soon interlocked back with the other woman’s. There was a beat of silence before Hermione just chuckled again.
“How about we just focus on now? We can talk more tomorrow” she stated as Y/n took another deep breath and smiled.
They spent most of the night like that. Awkward, but gentle. They didn’t know how to move forward, but they now had each other. This was saying a lot considering how long they’d been alone in this aspect of this relationship.
It was nice, to be wanted.
On the second day of @hprecfest this fandom gave to me...
Day 2: a fic rated G
Title: The Pure and Simple Truth by @letteredlettered
Pairing: Draco x Harry
General | 65.4k words
Summary: Harry, Draco, and Hermione go to a pub. Harry, Draco, and Pansy go to a pub. Harry, Draco, Pansy, and Hermione go to a pub. Harry, Draco, Hermione and Ron go to a pub. Harry, Draco, Hermione, Ron, and Pansy―you guessed it―go to a pub. I could go on. In fact, I did. Harry, Draco, Hermione, Pansy, Ron, Blaise, Luna, Goyle, Neville, and Theodore Nott go to a pub. In various combinations.
Why I recommend it:
Lettered has written some of the most phenomenal drarry fics this side of the fandom. Just about anything they've written could feature multiple times during during this rec fest, but I keep returning to this one in particular time and time again.
This fic is such a beautiful exploration of the interpersonal relationships being grown and developed between each of the characters that feature. Many of them have sordid histories with each other that range from little to no contact, to nasty rivalries and true betrayal. It's a gorgeous glimpse into the way that adult relationships evolve between people who initially interacted as significantly less actualized versions of themselves.
As an adult a good many years off from high school now, I've experienced the evolution of these relationships firsthand. People I never intended to interact with again, much less think of, are now some of my most consistent friends. In certain cases, people can learn and grow and if you give them a chance to show you that, sometimes you come away richer for it.
Best Friends, Right?
Tumblr media
Pairing: Matheo Riddle x fem!Reader (y/n)
Fandom: Harry Potter
Summary: You're in the common room studying and Matheo is so close.
You were in the common room reading a book. Classes were out and you needed to relax. You were cuddling with Matheo. You were friends, best friends.
Or atleast.
That’s what you both told everyone, but deep down. No matter how to tried, you knew. You liked him. You like Matheo fucking Riddle. You don’t know how, when or what he did, but you had gained a crush on him. But the thing is, it was one sided.
Matheo was with a different girl everyday. The boys joked that he changed girls faster than clothes. You didn’t want to ruin your friendship so you kept quiet.
For a year.
Unbeknownst to you Matheo who you thought was having a nap had woken up a while ago. He noticed you’d zoned out. He straightened and pulled you closer, putting his nose in your neck.
“Teo? Are you awake?” He said nothing as he continued holding you closer.He felt you lower your book and caress his cheek, “You’re really cute while you sleep, and pretty although i’ll never ever tell you this if you were awake” you played with his hair a bit then went back to your book. “Maybe that’s why I fell for you,” he froze.
Maybe that’s why i fell for you
Soon you had put down your book (using your wand since any movement might wake up Matheo) and you laid back into him. His sleepy hands wrapped around you bringing you closer.
“You fell for me,” he mumbled into your neck. You froze. Shit. He was awake.
"What?" You feigned confusion.
"Don't play daft darling I heard you earlier," he mumbles, his gaze still on you. You had said that part outloud. He waits for an answer, his eyes roving over you.
"I- it's a silly crush i had a while ago, like a really really long time agao, it's not really something to think hard about, because like obviously you don't feel the same way so let's just ignore th-" Matheo rolls his eyes and you stop.
"Weren't you the one who said to stop assuming things," he drawls his voice low and husky. You furrow your brow. What?
"Teo, What am i assuming?" He comes closer, and closer till he's a hair breadth away.
"That I don't feel the same," your eyes unfocuse and a shaky gasp leaves your lips, your gaze drops to the lips you've been fantasising about since 5th year. "Speechless are we love?"
"But you, you're with a different girl everyday Teo, I'm not interested in being one of them," he tilts his head a slight smile on his face.
"The reason, I thought was quite clear since Enzo, Teddy, Draco and Pansy couldn't keep their mouth shut or their jokes to themselves." You're definitely confused now.
"Darling, the reason I'm with another girl everyday is because I'm hoping I might feel something for them, that I might love them, that I'd be released from loving someone who didn't look my way," he chuckles. "The first day we met, I introduced myself, hand stretched and everything, only for you to just drop your name and go back to your book, leaving me hanging," you chuckle remembering that day.
"I apologised didn't I"
"Yes, but you still made an impression, an impression that made me fall hopelessly in love with you," Matheo plays with your hand.
"But you never looked at me like that, or atleast I didn't know you ever looked at me like that, so the girls I went out with were a distraction from you,"
"You love me?-" you were cut off as he kisses you, his hands wrapping around your waist bringing you in, onto his lap. You lazyly kissed him back relishing in it.
"I say all that and you still have to ask," you smile and say nothing before laying your head im his shoulder breathing in his scent.
You just giggling and kiss him again, and again and again and again.
"I should be concerned about all the affection I'm receiving but strangely I'm not, Do you want to go for desert downstairs," Matheo says. "Consider it our first date, official date,"
"I'd like that,"
The Slytherin boys hadn’t mentioned the scar again until it was the day all of them were leaving to be with their families for the holidays. They had voted that Theo would be the one to ask since she trusted him the most out of the rest of them. That and he was also the only other one staying at Hogwarts for the holidays.
There had been a huge party in the Slytherin common room the night before to celebrate the end of exams and the start of the holidays. All of them had drank a little too much, waking up with hangovers the next morning. Y/N was sitting in the great hall, her head buried in her arms to block out the light. She had woken up with a massive migraine that made her feel like her eyeballs were about to pop out of her skull. It didn’t help that the boys were extra loud that morning, her head throbbing at every loud laugh or shout of her friends.
“Are you okay?” Pansy asked her quietly.
“Migraine,” She mumbled back, her stomach becoming queasy with the pain.
“Can you guys quiet down please? Y/N has a migraine,” Pansy instructed the boys who immediately lowered the volume of their voices.
“Wanna go back to bed, principessa? I’ll go with you,” Theo offered her gently, running his fingers up and down her back. She gently nodded, throwing a half assed wave to the rest of their friends as Theo guided her back to the common room.
Not even halfway there, her legs felt like they were going to give out, needing to stop for a moment and sit on the floor to rest her legs. “It’s a bad one, huh?”
“Really bad. My body feels so stiff and weak and my stomach is killing me,” She whined. He gave her another moment, helping to pull her up and back to guiding her to the common room. They were stopped, however, by Professor Snape.
“What is going on here? Leaving breakfast so soon?” Snape asked the pair, the volume of his voice causing her to wince in pain, burying her head into Theo’s shoulder.
“She has a bad migraine so I’m escorting her back to the common room, professor,” Theo explained to the man.
“Follow me, I have a potion that will help.”
“I don’t think she’ll be able to walk that far Professor. She had a hard time getting even here,” The boy added with concern. The hook-nosed professor solved that problem by picking the girl up and carrying her the whole way to his classroom and office. She had used the crook of the man’s neck to hide her eyes from not only the movement but the light.
There was a pair of students that had witnessed an act of kindness from the cold professor. Harry and Ron watched in awe as Snape carried the girl willingly so she wouldn’t have to walk the far distance. They had no idea that the man was capable of niceness, but then again, it was a member of his house and they believed that he tended to favor the Slytherin students more.
As Snape carried Y/N to his classroom and office, she felt safe, the comfort easing some of her pain. She had known Snape for most of her life, although nobody exactly knew that. Severus Snape was rather close with her father during their time together at Hogwarts, even becoming the girl’s godfather. He gently set her down on his desk chair once they entered his office, locating the potion he knew that would help her. He had been the one to create it after all, upon finding out that she had suffered from migraines at a young age.
He held the vial of potion to her lips, tilting it gently so it would go in her mouth and made sure that she drank it all. “What potion is that, professor?” Theo asked curiously.
“I created this years ago, it was made especially for migraine attacks,” Snape replied dryly, watching as the look of relief overtook his goddaughter’s face. “How are you feeling, darling? Better?”
“Much better, Uncle Sev. Thank you,” She smiled softly at her uncle, getting out of the chair to hug him tightly.
“Come to me next time you have a migraine. I have a full stock of the potion for you. Nott, you make sure if she has another, you either bring her right here or come get me. Understood?”
“Yes sir.”
“Good, now off you go. Head back to the common room, I left you a little gift in your spot, darling,” Snape smiled at the girl, her eyes lighting up and she hugged the man once more, placing a kiss on his cheek.
“Thank you uncle Sev!” She squealed in delight.
“Happy early Christmas,” He chuckled as she pulled her friend out of the office.
She continued to pull him until they got to their spot in the common room. She was quick to notice a wrapped gift sitting by the window. She ripped the box open to reveal art supplies and a note.
My Darling Goddaughter,
I know your mother burned all of your art supplies so I figured you needed more. Happy Christmas
Love,
Uncle Sev
She squealed in excitement, tossing the note to Theo as she dug through to grab onto one of the many sketchbooks she was gifted and a sketching pencil. She had started sketching away as Theo read the note from Snape. He was shocked to see the fact that he was her godfather and he obviously had a deep care for the girl. Especially seeing as he had created a whole new potion just to help with her migraines.
He had put the note back into the box and just watched as she sketched away on the blank paper. He watched as her tongue poked its way out of her mouth as she concentrated, leaning closer to the book as she focused more on whatever it was she was drawing. Theo tried to lean over to get a look but she was quick to cover the book with her arms.
“Not yet! I left a book I think you’d like under the chess table so nobody would touch it. It’s charmed to stick to the bottom of the table,” She explained to the boy to try to give him something to keep him busy. So he did as she said, finding the book, taking his place next to her and began reading. She was right, he was deeply enjoying the book, completely submerged in it.
The two sat in their spot for hours, the day turned to night in what felt like a blink of an eye. As it approached midnight, they both realized that they were hungry and they hadn’t eaten all day. Deciding to sneak into the kitchens and ask the house elves for some food since they hadn’t had anything.
On their way out of the common room and heading down to the kitchens, they ran into Peeves, both cursing for not noticing the obnoxious poltergeist. “Students out of bed! Students are breaking the rules!” The poltergeist shouted.
“Shut up, Peeves!” Y/N yelled back at the ghost. They heard footsteps approaching them, trying to find somewhere to hide quickly but failing.
“What are you two doing out of bed? It’s nearly midnight, you’re supposed to be sleeping,” Snape lectured the pair.
“We haven’t eaten all day, Uncle Sev. We just wanted to get food from the kitchens really quick and go back to the common room, I swear,” Y/N defended her and Theo to her uncle.
“Why haven’t you eaten?”
“I was drawing with the new stuff you got me and Theo was reading. Please Uncle Sev, we just want to get food and go to bed.”
“I will take you to the kitchens and then back to the common room to avoid this again.”
That’s exactly what he did, the professor took the two down to the kitchens, let them get food and then led them back to the Slytherin common room. The students thanked Snape as they entered the common room, sitting down on one of the couches and eating the food they had gotten from the house elves. Almost immediately after eating their food they had fallen asleep on the couch together. Leaning against one another, the plates of food scattered around them on the tables.
Early in the morning, Snape had went into the Slytherin common room to make sure that the two students had found their way to bed. He was surprised to see that the pair had instead fallen asleep on the couch, Theo was layed down, Y/N sandwiched between the boy and the couch. Snape wasn’t very happy to see his precious goddaughter asleep with a boy but he was happy that she had found a great friend and someone who cared deeply about her. He covered the two of them with a blanket before leaving the common room with a small smile on his face.
