pretty setter Akaashi passing out in front of a frantic Bokuto??
Wrote this in one sitting in like two hours, so I hope it's not too rushed. This one ran longer than I wanted, but I think it's okay. Let me know what you think. (*Me jumping from past tense to present tense between fics* Parkour!)
Iron(ic) [yes, the title is a terrible pun]
Anemic Akaashi with caretaker Bokuto ft. Konoha (because I love him)
Word count: 903 words
Akaashi doesnât look good, Koutarou notices. Akaashiâs typically fair skin has taken on an ashen tint. His bright blue eyes are unusually dull, and Akaashiâs graceful movements are slow and clumsy. Something is wrong. Koutarou doesnât know what, but something is.
Akaashiâs poor health is having an impact on morning practice. The team is scattered and disorganized without Akaashiâs steady guidance. No one can focus, too concerned about their vice-captainâs health, but theyâre also too afraid to say anything to Akaashi directly. Akaashi will just shrug off their concerns with a gentle shake of his head. As wonderful as Akaashi is at taking care of his team, the same canât be said for himself.
Konoha shoots Koutarou a pointed look. Koutarou knows what his friend wants him to do. Koutarou is the only one on the entire team that can talk to Akaashi when he gets like this. Akaashi is too stubborn to listen to anyone but his captain or his coaches when it comes to his health. Their coaches like to leave this type of thing to the captain and will only intervene if Akaashi gets worse. Their coaches are on the other side of the gym working with the first years anyway, so they might not even know whatâs happening right now.
So itâs up to Koutarou, then. Koutarou takes a moment to collect himself, and then he walks over to Akaashi.
âAre you okay, âKaashi?â Koutarou asks the setter.
Akaashi turns to face him, but the movement is painfully slow. âOf course, Bokuto. Why wouldnât I be?â
âAre you sure?â Koutarou presses, âYou donât look good at all.â
âAre you calling me ugly?â Akaashi jokes lightly.
That should be a relief, but Akaashi never jokes with Koutarou. Ever. He barely jokes with any of the third years out of respect, and he refuses to tease Koutarou because he firmly believes that he must be respectful to his captain. Koutarou has tried to joke around with Akaashi all year with no success, so Akaashi must be pretty out of it to willingly tease his captain, especially in front of the entire team.
âCourse not, âKaashi,â Koutarou replies. âBut maybe you should sit down. Youâre looking a little pale.â
Akaashi pauses for a moment to consider his options. He sighs heavily and looks back at Koutarou. âOkay. Just for a little while, though.â
âSure, âKaashi,â Koutarou nods, moving beside Akaashi, so they can walk back to the bench together.
Akaashiâs body seems to have other plans, though. Akaashi takes one step before his legs give out, and then heâs falling to the floor. Koutarou dashes to the setterâs aid, wrapping an arm around Akaashiâs waist before his body can hit the floor.
âAkaashi!â Koutarou shrieks, drawing the attention of everyone in the gym.
Koutarou lays Akaashi on his back as he struggles to get Akaashi into the recovery position. Konoha darts over to help, rolling Akaashi onto his side, so Koutarou could finish moving his limbs to the correct places. Saruki runs over too, offering his jacket to pillow Akaashiâs head as Komi goes to get the coaches.
âAkaashi,â Koutarou shakes his friendâs shoulder. âWake up, Akaashi.â
âMmmâŠâ Akaashiâs eyes flutter open weakly. âWhaâs goinâ onâŠ?â
âAre you with us, Akaashi?â Konoha asks gently.
âHi, Konoha,â Akaashi giggles lightly. âYour hair is funny.â
âUh⊠Thanks, I guess,â Konoha looks unsure of whether he should be offended or concerned. âHow are you feeling?â
âTired,â Akaashi yawns widely to emphasize his point, âand dizzy. Iâm so dizzyâŠâ
âWhyâre you dizzy, âKaashi?â Koutarou asks quickly. Akaashiâs description is too vague for Koutarou and Konoha to determine whatâs wrong with the setter.
âMmmâŠâ Akaashi goes quiet for a moment. âI didnât eat breakfast, so maybe that⊠My doctor says not to skip meals. I guess this is why, huhâŠ?â
âYour doctor, âKaashi?â Koutarouâs ears catch on part of Akaashiâs statement. âWhat kind of doctor?â
âI have anemia,â Akaashi admits tiredly. âI see a specialist to help me manage it.â
âIs that why you fainted?â Konoha asked. âYouâre not sick or anything?â
âI donât think so,â Akaashi says, shifting to sit up. Heâs not quite strong enough to keep himself upright, so Koutarou and Konoha help support him.
âThatâs good,â Koutarou squeezes Akaashiâs shoulder. âDo you want something to eat?â
âMaybe,â Akaashi hums, âI just want to go home. I donât feel good.â
Itâs unusual for Akaashi to be so blatant about his feelings, but Akaashi was probably still a little loopy from passing out, Koutarou reasons.
âOkay, âKaashi. Weâll get you home, so donât worry!â Koutarou declares confidently.
âThanks, Bokuto, Konoha,â Akaashi smiles exhaustedly.
âAny time, âKaashi, any time.â Koutarou smiles back. Itâll be difficult getting Akaashi back to his house if they have to walk, but theyâll deal with that later. For now, the trio snuggles together quietly. So Akaashiâs anemic, huh? Koutarou wonders why heâs never told the team before, but he knows better than to ask right now. Heâll ask Akaashi when they get to the setterâs house.
Koutarou might skip school to stay with Akaashi. They can hang out, and Koutarou can ask about Akaashiâs anemia. Yeah, thatâs a good plan. Koutarou will put it into action once they leave the gym. But for now, heâll keep Akaashi comfortable and supported because thatâs what Akaashi would do if Koutarou were sick, and Akaashi deserves to be taken care of just like Koutarou.

Do you have allergy hcs for the setters? Or shiratorizawa because I love them lol.
Hmmm... We'll go with Shiratorizawa because I don't have much content for them yet, sooo...
Ushijima: Not much in terms of pollen allergies (or else all that field work would kill him, lol), but he is somewhat allergic to pets. He still interacts with animals, but he'll take some Benadryl or something similar if his symptoms get too bad. This rarely ever happens, though, so only the other third years know about Ushiwaka's allergies.
Tendou: No pollen or pet allergies, but he's got some food problems. He's allergic to gluten and also has trouble with some dairy products. This is part of why he doesn't eat much, but his appetite is just small in general too. Gluten gives Tendou horrible stomach symptoms, but since he lives in Japan, he's lucky to have lots of gluten-free options because of rice's popularity in dishes.
Semi: Horrible, horrible pollen allergies. He gets super congested, and his ears and sinuses always feel full when the pollen count is bad. He gets lots of ear and sinus infections because of this. He also gets very sneezy and coughs a lot because of how congested he is. Semi carries lots of allergy medicine in his bag, ranging from moderate to strong. He takes moderate allergy medicine daily, but he keeps the strong medicine as a back up if his allergies get too bad. He also takes strong meds in the morning occasionally if he knows the pollen will be bad a head of time. He's had to sit out a few practices the past few years because of his allergies, and he hates it every time it happens. He always gets really embarrassed, but his team is never mad (except Washijou because he can be a bit of a jerk sometimes). They just want Semi to feel better.
Reon: He's got minor pollen allergies. They aren't normally a problem, but they kick his ass a little in autumn. He's still not sure exactly what it is, but some autumn plant really triggers his allergies like nothing else in the fall. He normally doesn't take allergy medication, but he has to take it in autumn if he wants to be functional at all.
Jin: Minor pet allergies. His family has a cat, so he takes some medicine every morning to keep his airways clear.
Hayato: Pretty severe spring allergies. He has to take lots of medicine to stay functional, so he's a little loopy for a while. Without his medicine, he's a sneezy, congested mess, so he always has emergency meds in his bag. Semi also carries some because of his allergies, so if worst comes to worst, Hayato can get some meds from Semi. Semi will share with him, but then Hayato will get lectured once he's taken them, so Hayato considers this a last resort.
Taichi: Dust and pollen problems. He gets watery eyes and sneezing, but it's not too awful, all things considered. He rarely takes medicine because he just doesn't care enough to bother. Taichi doesn't think his symptoms are all that bad, and he's more willing to deal with them than allergy medication side effects.
Shirabu: Pollen and pet dander make him cough. It's normally not so bad, but if he gets caught in a pollen or dust cloud, he'll cough for at least ten minutes just trying to clear his lungs. His main symptom is coughing, but his eyes can get watery too, and if the pollen count is extremely high, he might end up sneezing too. Takes low level allergy meds, but Semi will give him stronger stuff if he needs it. Shirabu is always grateful for this, but he'd rather die than tell Semi that.
Goshiki: Bad pet allergies, like throat swells (but never closes) bad. Goshiki often ignores his allergy because he loves animals, but he always pays for it later. Semi and Tendou keep a close eye on him around animals, and they both always have Benadryl if Goshiki has a bad reaction. Goshiki also carries Benadryl, but he's too forgetful to take it reliably, which is why Tendou and Semi have some too.

Here is a second prompt!
Epileptic Suga having a seizure for the first time in front of the first years, maybe in a tougher situation to handle like a bus ride đ
:)
-Lu
This one took me a little while, but it's done now, so enjoy! As mentioned in a prior post, this fic is part of the Setter Health Conditions (SHC) universe, so it might be referenced in other fics taking place in the universe. (Fun fact, this fic was originally titled "Into the Sugaverse" before I edited the title to be less cryptic.)
That One Bus Trip
Epileptic Suga with caretaker Daichi
Word count: 3447 words
Daichi was stressed. That wasnât a new thing, though. With three siblings and two very busy parents, Daichiâs life was near-constant chaos. Though right now, the current cause of Daichiâs stress was sitting right next to him. Suga was curled up against Daichi on the bus seat. They were driving home from a weekend training camp in Tokyo. It was only early evening, but Suga looked quite sleepy leaning against Daichiâs arm.
âAre you okay, Suga?â Daichi asked quietly. They were seated near the back of the bus to keep an eye on everyone. The first years sat in the row in front of Daichi and Suga, and Daichi didnât want to broadcast Sugaâs private business to them (or anyone else on the bus, for that matter).
âYeah,â Suga groaned as he shifted against Daichiâs arm. âJust feeling kind of off, ya know?â
Daichiâs eyes widened in alarm. âWhat kind of âoff,â Suga? Like off off?â
âOff off,â Suga agreed, pressing the side of his face into Daichiâs club jacket.
âDo you want me to get someone?â Daichi muttered urgently.
This wasnât good. Feeling off off was how Suga liked to refer to having an aura, and an aura meant a seizure was coming soon. And to make matters worse, they were on a bus, hours away from home. If Suga had a seizure now, it would be chaos. Everyone would panic because only Daich, Asahi, and Mr. Takeda knew about Sugaâs epilepsy (Daichi wasnât sure if Coach Ukai knew, but he wouldnât be surprised if Suga never mentioned his condition. Suga was very shy about sharing his epilepsy with others. It had taken Daichi and Asahi cornering a first year Suga in the locker room after a particularly long practice to get Suga to tell them anything, and they were some of Sugaâs closest friends.)
âNo,â Suga murmured. âI have my medication. Iâll take it, so hopefully, things wonât get too bad.â
Suga leaned forward and rummaged through the bag at his feet, producing a medicine bottle seconds later. Daichi grabbed a water bottle from his own bag and presented it to Suga, who took it gratefully. Suga shook out one pill from the bottle and swallowed it down with a gulp of water. He handed the bottle back to Daichi and bent down to his bag again.
Daichi turned to his bag to distract himself from all the possible futures flashing through his mind. Even though Suga had taken his medication, that didnât guarantee nothing would happen. Similar to migraine prevention medication, Sugaâs medicine only worked some of the time. Daichi was praying to every deity in existence that it would work this time because he hated Suga seizing in any circumstance, but especially on a bus with their loud, emotional teammates. Suga didnât seem too panicked on the surface, but Daichi was keenly aware of the setterâs clenched hands and furrowed brow. Suga was worried too, but he was far too prideful to ever tell anyone directly.
âLet me know if you need anything,â Daichi ordered, voice low to keep their conversation discreet.
âOkay,â Suga yawned, âI think Iâm gonna take a nap. This medicine always makes me drowsy.â
âAlright,â Daichi nodded slightly. âJust try to stay calm. Getting worked up will only make everything worse.â
âI know, Daichi,â Suga huffed good-naturedly. âIâve been dealing with this for years. I think I know how to take care of myself.â
Daich chuckled and patted Sugaâs head with his free hand. âI know, I know. But Iâm still worried, you know. Iâm your best friend and your captain. I think I have the right to worry about you sometimes.â
âYouâre such a dad, Daichi,â Suga snickered mischievously. âDad... Daichi⊠Oh! Dadchi! From now on, Iâm gonna call you Dadchi.â
Daichi sighed wearily. âHow can you be so responsible one minute and then so childish the next?â
âItâs a gift,â Suga smiled goofily. Then a yawn escaped his mouth, and he blinked slowly.
âTake a nap, Suga,â Daichi said, slipping off his jacket to drape over the setter. âYouâre tired, and itâll make you feel better.â
Suga hummed in agreement, leaning against Daichiâs side and snuggling under the jacket. He sighed contently and closed his eyes. Within minutes, Suga was sleeping comfortably against Daichiâs shoulder. Daichi smiled at the sight, silently resigning himself to being Sugaâs pillow for the rest of the bus ride. They still had over three hours left until they reached Karasuno High School, so Daichi was hoping Suga would be able to take a good, long nap until they arrived.
With Suga sleeping soundly, Daichi could finally relax. He gazed out the window at the setting sun, admiring the beautiful colors as the sun disappeared from the sky. Sugaâs body was warm, Daichi noticed. Not feverish, but warm enough to keep Daichiâs body pleasantly warm as well. The bus was also fairly quiet. Most of their teammates were either reading or playing video games (even Kageyama was attempting to work a DS after Hinataâs incessant nagging). After two days of grueling training, Daichiâs body was begging for a break, and between the warmth and quiet murmurings of his teammates, Daichi felt himself nodding off too. His head drooped against Sugaâs, and Daichi was asleep almost instantly.
X
When Daichi awoke, he noticed light flashing through the very dark bus. Lifting his head drowsily, Daichi quickly found the light source. Someone (probably Tanaka or Noya) had brought a portable DVD player onto the bus, and everyone (minus Suga, Daichi, and Asahi, who had donned an eyemask and fell asleep sometime after Daichi had) was gathered around it watching a movie of some sort.
Daichi yawned and pulled out his phone. He sent a quick text to Ennoshita asking about what movie they were watching. Ennoshita replied with the title (âInto the Spider-Verse,â apparently) along with what heâd missed so far. The movie was only a third of the way done, so Daichi hadnât missed too much. Suga was still sleeping soundly, so Daichi didnât dare move. He couldnât see the movie, but that was fine so long as Suga was asleep and calm.
Suga continued to sleep for another half hour at least while Daichi ignored the DVD player in favor of looking at his phone. During that time, Ennoshita texted frequent updates on the movie, summarizing the plot, characters, and visuals with stunning clarity. Daichi would occasionally see some bright flashes of light, but he was too focused on his phone to register the problem the lights might pose. Daichi was snickering at the reveal of Doctor Octavius when Suga stirred next to him.
âYouâre up, huh?â Daichi murmured to a drowsy Suga.
âYeahâŠâ Suga yawned, eyes still shut.
âAre you feeling better?â Daichi asked gently.
âA little, yeah,â Suga hummed, shifting to a sitting position and cracking open his eyes.
âThatâs good, at least,â Daichi smiled, reaching over to grab his jacket from Sugaâs lap.
âI guess,â Suga sighed, his brown eyes still half-lidded with exhaustion. âWhatâs going on?â
âWeâre watching a movie. Into the Spider-Verse, apparently.â Daichi lifted his phone to show Suga the screen. âEnnoshitaâs been keeping me updated. Heâs actually pretty good at it too.â
Suga grabbed the phone and scrolled to the beginning of Ennoshitaâs recent texts. He took a moment to read before handing the phone back to Daichi. âYouâre right. He is pretty good. Is the movie still on?â
âYes,â Daichi nodded, âThe DVD playerâs in the aisle. We can watch it if we move over a little.â
âLetâs watch it,â Suga replied. âItâs not like we have anything better to do right now.â
âOkay,â Daichi agreed easily, sliding over into the aisle to watch the movie. Suga moved too, taking Daichiâs now-vacant seat.
They settled down to watch the movie without much trouble. The occasional bright flash made Suga wince and turn away for a moment, but the instances were infrequent, so Daichi didnât think much of them. Suga seemed to be enjoying the movie too. He laughed at the jokes and fawned over the action sequences. Daichi wasnât surprised. Heâd known about Sugaâs nerdy side for a while now.
To be fair, Daichi was also enjoying the movie. The soundtrack and animation were very well done, and Daichi was always a sucker for action movies. Perhaps that was why Daichi forgot about the danger the movie could pose to Suga. Daichi was so absorbed in the movie that he failed to notice Sugaâs furrowed brows and rapidly paling face. The final straw for Sugaâs fragile health was the collider scene. The frantic, aggressive flashes of light sent Sugaâs body headfirst into an epileptic episode.
At first, Daichi thought Suga was just shivering. Small trembles wracked Sugaâs frame, but when the trembles grew stronger and more sporadic, Daichi became concerned. Turning away from the DVD player, he squinted through the dark at his best friend, and what Daichi saw was horrible. Sugaâs body spasmed erratically while Sugaâs eyes were blown wide with panic and distress. Tears slipped down Sugaâs cheeks as a soft whine escaped his mouth. Sugaâs eyes settled on Daichi, silently begging for help.
Daichi was panicking, but Suga needed him, so he had to focus. Daichi quickly wrapped his jacket around Sugaâs head and neck, creating a cushion to protect the vulnerable areas during Sugaâs thrashing. Then he carefully scooted Sugaâs body farther into the seat, so he wouldnât fall off and hit something against the bus floor. With Suga in a secure position, there was nothing left to do now but time the seizure and wait for it to end. Daichi hated this part the most because he was powerless to help his best friend.
Their teammates slowly started to notice that something was wrong. Sugaâs breathing was irregular and audible over the movie to the people sitting near Daichi and Suga. Ennoshita sent him a text a minute later to make sure everything was okay. Daich responded with a cryptic text that told Ennoshita something was wrong but didnât specify what. Naturally, Ennoshita sent more texts, each becoming more and more worried, though he thankfully had the sense to keep his inquiries in texts instead of voicing them aloud.
Sugaâs trembles finally slowed, and Daichi checked the clock on his phone. The seizure had lasted for just over two minutes. While not ideal, the seizure was still under five minutes. Seizures lasting longer than five minutes tended to be the most dangerous ones, so at least Suga avoided that.
Now that the seizure was over, Daichi needed to get Suga help. So Daichi got to his feet and walked down the bus aisle. Most of his teammates grumbled in annoyance, but Daichi caught the worried gazes of Ennoshita and his seatmate Kinoshita. He gave them a small smile, hoping to convey that things were getting better, but the duo still looked worried. Daichi continued on his trek and finally reached the front of the bus. Thankfully, Coach Ukai was driving while Mr. Takeda was helping Coach Ukai navigate from the front bus seat.
âMr. Takeda?â Daichi leaned towards the club advisor, keeping his voice low.
âDaichi?!â Mr. Takeda yelped in surprise, but he quickly fell silent once he saw Daichiâs face. âWhatâs wrong?â
âSuga had an⊠episode,â Daichi whispered to the club advisor.
âAn episode?â Mr. Takeda blinked in confusion. âWhat kind of episo- Oh!â Mr. Takeda lowered his voice out of courtesy to Suga and his privacy. âSuga had an epileptic episode?â
âYeah,â Daichi sighed tiredly. âHis seizure lasted for a little more than two minutes. Heâs resting now, but we should take him to a hospital to get checked out.â
âOf course!â Mr. Takeda nearly shouted again. âIâll let Coach know right away! Do you need any help with Suga?â
âI donât think so,â Daichi shook his head. âI just might need help getting him off the bus when we get to the hospital.â
âAlright. Iâll find the nearest hospital and tell Coach to get us there as soon as possible. Can you keep Suga comfortable until we arrive?â Mr. Takeda asked.
âIâll take good care of him,â Daichi replied firmly.
âIâm sure you will,â Mr. Takeda agreed before he moved to the driverâs seat to let Coach Ukai know about the change of plans.
Daichi returned to his seat swiftly, anxious from leaving Suga alone for so long. Suga was still lying across their seats, but he was conscious and relatively alert because he turned his head when Daichi got back to their seats. Daichi sat in the aisle to keep an eye on Suga, rubbing the setterâs ankle soothingly. Daichi and Suga stayed like that until the bus pulled into a hospital parking lot.
Cries of confusion and irritation broke out until Mr. Takeda silenced them with an uncharacteristically stern stare. âMove out of the aisles, everyone. The paramedics need to use them.â
Everyone obeyed immediately, but looks of confusion were etched on most of their teammatesâ faces. Two paramedics boarded their bus, with Mr. Takeda directing them back to Suga and Daichiâs seats. Daichi moved out of their way, helping them pull Suga into the larger paramedicâs arms. Suga remained limp in the paramedicâs hold, though his eyes darted over to Daichi as the paramedics carried him away. Daichi waved reassuringly, and Suga flashed him a brief smile before his eyes fell shut. That caused the paramedics to panic and rush off the bus. Daichi watched them place Suga on a waiting stretcher from the bus window, and then his best friend disappears into the large white building with the paramedics.
X
They werenât allowed to see Suga for the next few hours. Their teammatesâ confusion had morphed into shock and despair once they realized that something was wrong with Suga. The first and second years badgered Daichi and Asahi relentlessly until they finally caved, informing the team of Sugaâs epilepsy. Daichi also explained why Suga was currently in the hospital, and Tanaka looked guiltier by the second. Daichi reached out a hand and rubbed the spikerâs shoulder, explaining that it wasnât Tanakaâs fault. He didnât know about Sugaâs epilepsy until a few minutes ago, so there was no way for him to know how dangerous the movie would be for his vice-captain to watch. Tanaka still moped in his hospital chair until they were finally allowed to see Suga.
It was very early morning when a nurse approached their group with information about Suga. She pulled Mr. Takeda and Coach Ukai away for a few minutes to inform them of Sugaâs condition. With Sugaâs parents out of the country for work, they were acting as Sugaâs legal guardians while he was in the hospital. Daichi waited with the team until the two adults returned to their group.
âSuga will be fine, everyone,â Mr. Takeda smiled exhaustedly. The events of the night had taken a visible toll on him. âHe was just dehydrated and exhausted. Heâs on an IV right now to get some fluids and nutrients into his system, but heâll be okay after getting some rest.â
âHeâll be released soon,â Coach Ukai continued gruffly. âTheyâre just waiting until his IV is done. We should be out of here in an hour or so.â
âCan we see him?!â Nishinoya and Hinata asked eagerly.
âYes,â Mr. Takeda laughed at their antics, âbut you have to be quiet, ok? Suga might be asleep, and we shouldnât wake him if he is.â
âYes sir!â The duo nodded before dashing down the hallway.
âWait!â Mr. Takeda let out a panicked cry. âYou donât even know Sugaâs room number!â
Mr. Takeda chased after the two, and soon the entire team was running down the hospital hallway to Sugaâs room. Mr. Takeda directed them to take two flights of stairs and a long corridor to reach Sugaâs room. Unsurprisingly, Hinata and Nishinoya were the first to the door, with Kageyama and Tanaka not far behind. Mr. Takeda caught up with them, forcing them to wait until everyone had gathered to open the door. Daichi pushed his way to the front of the group, citing his captain status. Suga was his best friend, and he was going invoke his captain rights if it let him see Suga faster.
Mr. Takeda opened the door, and the Karasuno VBC filed into the room silently. Daichi stared at Suga as he entered. Suga was awake and sitting up in his bed. He looked exhausted, but his face had color, and he looked much better than he had hours ago. Suga watched them all carefully, offering them a wave. The IV in his elbow bounced in time with Sugaâs wave. Once everyone was settled into the room, Suga gave them a warm Suga-Smileâą.
âHey, guys,â Suga said with exhausted but genuine enthusiasm. âWhatâs up?â
âSUGA!!!!â Hinata, Nishinoya, and Tanaka yelled, launching themselves at Suga.
They piled themselves on top of a shocked Suga, but he was quick to pull the trio into a warm hug.
âYou scared us, Suga,â Daichi said quietly as he sat on the side of Sugaâs bed.
âSorry. I should have told someone earlier,â Suga sighed, snuggling into the cuddlepile on his lap.
âItâs not your fault, Suga,â Asahi hummed from the other side of Sugaâs bed. âYou canât control your epilepsy.â
âI guess so⊠But I still feel bad for scaring you guys like that,â Suga confessed, eyes full of guilt.
âItâs okay, Suga,â Hinata chirped from the cuddle pile. âWeâre just glad that youâre okay!â
âThanks, Hinata,â Suga laughed into the blockerâs red hair.
âHinataâs right,â Ennoshita chimed in. âI just wished youâd told us about your epilepsy earlier.â
âI know I should have, and Iâm really sorry.â Suga bowed his head in apology. âI just hate talking about it. Daichi and Asahi basically had to kidnap me to get me to tell them about it.â
âIs that true, Daichi?â Nishinoya asked excitedly.
âI guess soâŠâ Daichi laughed awkwardly. âIn our defense, Suga was very stubborn. That was the only way we got Suga to talk to us instead of changing the topic.â
âWas I really that bad?â Suga cocked his head to the side.
âYou were,â Asahi nodded solemnly. âI didnât think weâd ever get you to tell us anything.â
âYouâre always so negative, Asahi.â Suga poked the aceâs arm lightly. âItâs that negativity goatee, I swear.â
âMy goatee has nothing to do with it!â Asahi whined sadly.
Suga giggled lightly at his friends, and Sugaâs laugh was always infectious. The cuddle pile trio was giggling too, and then Daichi and Asahi joined in as well. Soon, the entire team was laughing, even Mr. Takeda and Coach Ukai. The previous events were long and stressful, so now everyone was finally relaxing a little.
The team chatted amongst themselves quietly until a nurse entered the room to check Sugaâs IV. She declared that it was done and swiftly removed the needle from Sugaâs elbow before the setter could even process what was happening. The nurse left the room for a moment and returned with a wheelchair for Suga to sit in. Hinata, Nishinoya, and Tanaka clambered off Sugaâs lap, so Daichi and Asahi could help Suga into the wheelchair. They wheeled Suga out to the bus and got him situated on a bus seat near the front, so the adults could keep an eye on him. Daichi also sat beside Suga to help him if need be.
Everyone boarded the bus, and they were on their way back to Miyagi. Suga leaned his head on Daichiâs shoulder, eyes heavy with sleep.
âDaichi,â he yawned heavily. âThanks for everything today.â
Daichi smiled tiredly at his best friend. âSure. Iâm always here for you. You know that, right?â
âYeah, I do,â Suga hummed happily. âIâm glad youâre such a good friend.â
âThanks, Suga.â Daichi yawned as well. âYouâre a pretty good friend too.â
âYouâre still better,â Suga teased lightly before a big yawn escaped his mouth.
âAnd youâre still exhausted. Get some rest. Iâll wake you up when we get back,â Daichi said softly.
âThanks, Daichi,â Suga murmured as his eyes slipped shut.
âAny time, Suga,â Daichi whispered as he felt his eyes grow heavier by the second. He leaned his head on top of Sugaâs. The adults would wake them when they got to the school, Daichi reasoned before his eyes shut completely. Karasunoâs captain was asleep in a matter of seconds, taking a well-deserved nap after the chaos of the past few hours. The bus wouldnât arrive for a few hours, and Daichi was content to nap with his best friend as the bus rolled on through the night.

Who do you hc in Haikyuu for having asthma? (and the causes like triggered by stress, weather, exercise, genetics, allergies, etc.)
In my Setter Health Conditions Universe, I listed Semi's condition as asthma, so him. As for other characters, I headcanon Kuroo, Konoha, and Sakunami (the libero from Date Tech, he's very smol and cute).
Semi's causes/triggers are stress, high pollen count/allergies, and extreme amounts of exercise. Semi's asthma is pretty volatile, so he has to manage it very carefully. High pollen days are horrible for him. He tries to avoid spending time outside, opting for the indoors where there's less pollen. Stress and extreme exercise tend to go hand in hand for Semi. Athletics tend to be his biggest source of stress, and doing lots of exercise can make Semi stressed both physically and mentally. The other third years keep a close eye on Semi during volleyball practices to try to prevent this, but they aren't always successful. Semi usually has multiple asthma attacks during practice each year. Most are minor, but Semi always has at least one major asthma attack in front of his team per year. Semi hates it because he doesn't want to worry his team, but they shush him and smother him with love and affection before he can complain.
I've seen other people headcanon Kuroo as asthmatic, and I like that headcanon a lot. Kuroo's biggest trigger is stress. Unluckily for him, he's subjected to a lot of stress as both a third year and the volleyball team captain. Kuroo gets attacks during practices and games like Semi, but he also gets them from stressing about other things too. These things are primarily schoolwork and his friends. Kuroo had an asthma attack while stressing about a math test. It was pretty minor, but Kuroo still finds it funny. Nekoma doesn't, though, and Yaku and Kenma scold Kuroo whenever he tries to laugh off his asthma. Kuroo doesn't understand why they're so upset, but he does what they say anyway because he knows they're only scolding him because they care.
Konoha's biggest trigger is actually exercising. It's part of the reason why he's a jack of all trades player. He can take breaks when he needs to but still help his team on the court. Playing volleyball for years has increased the amount of exercise his body can handle before an asthma attack, but his body still has limits. Despite his laidback attitude, Konoha does a pretty good job managing his asthma. Most of the time, it's like he doesn't even have asthma. But when he has an attack, it gets bad, like needing a nebulizer and a hospital trip bad. Konoha manages his asthma so proactively because he hates hospitals as well as how helpless he feels during his asthma attacks.
Sakunami has two triggers. His biggest one is the weather. Super dry or humid days give him attacks frequently. The ideal weather conditions for Sakunami are warmish, moderately humid days. Extreme changes in temperature and humidity from these conditions can cause Sakunami lots of attacks if he's not careful. Sakunami's second but more minor trigger is allergies. Pollen and pet dander can give Sakunami lots of trouble if he doesn't take preventative measures early enough. Sakunami's only had one attack in front of his team, but it was during a practice match with Johzenji, so both teams saw it and fussed over him. Sakunami feels bad for scaring everyone, especially Koganegawa and Futakuchi, but they tell him not to worry. Sakunami can't control his asthma, so having an attack will never be his fault. Sakunami tears up when they tell him this, but they make him sit out practice the next day, so he doesn't stay tearful for long.

Twin Idiots - Osamu
For @punkozumeâ
Prompt: sick Osamu, caretaker Suna ft. caretakers Kita and Aran (Michinari is here too, but he doesn't do that much tbh)
Osamu with the flu and a very high fever, he tries to hide that he's sick from Suna and almost passes out on the school, has a lot of nightmares and is kind of delirious
Word count: 2433 words
If you couldn't tell, there will be a separate Atsumu version of this fic coming soon. I didn't include any nightmares, but if this fic does well enough, I'll write a (hopefully) short ficlet to follow this fic up and focus on the nightmares and delirium, so let me know what you think!
(Suna doesn't have an accent because I remember reading somewhere that he's from Tokyo originally, but idk if that's right, so if it's not, please forgive me and pretend it's my own headcanon, not me forgetting where Suna's from.)
âItâs really chilly today,â Osamu notices, shivering under his coat. While winter was never warm, Osamu canât remember the last time heâs felt so cold. Even his long walk to the Inarizaki gym does nothing to warm him up. Osamu snuggles into his jacket as he trudges on. Itâs not snowing yet, but the sky is cloudy and ominously gray, so Osamu doesnât expect the ground to stay snow-free for long.
Osamu doesnât have to put up with his idiot brother today, at least. Tsumu had left for his fancy volleyball camp in Tokyo for the entire week the day before, so Osamu is on his own in Hyogo. Osamu and Tsumu attended together last year, but when Osamuâs invitation failed to arrive along with Tsumuâs this year, he canât say he was too surprised. Osamu has never been as into volleyball as Tsumu.
Osamu has his own interests, like cooking and chemistry, that heâs far more passionate about. Volleyball is fun, but Osamu knows he wonât be doing it for the rest of his life like Tsumu probably will. Tsumu will always put more into volleyball than Osamu, and that resulted in him being invited to the All-Japan Youth Intensive Training Camp while his brother was not.
Osamuâs not upset by any means. Heâs enjoying the separation from his twin. For one week, Osamu can have his own room, cook whatever he feels like, and watch as many cooking shows as he pleases. Itâs a weeklong vacation from his ridiculously loud brother, and Osamu intends to enjoy every second of it.
When Osamu finally reaches the gym, he relishes in the warmth of the cozy gym. Itâs a welcome change from the frigid air outside, and now Osamu is finally warm enough to shed his coat after shutting the gym door. Most of his teammates are already in the gym, either changing or warming up. Inarizaki may be on winter break, but Kita was adamant that his team continue to practice, even with Tsumu away at camp.
Osamu is already in his practice gear, opting for donning a sweatsuit over top of his shorts and tee-shirt due to the freezing weather. Osamu dumps his coat, bag, and other belongings along the wall before stashing his water bottle on the bench. Suna hasnât shown up yet, so Osamu begins his warmup stretches alone. By the time Osamu has stretched his legs and hips, Suna and the rest of the team have finally assembled in the gym.
Once everyone is ready, Kita gives out instructions for what everyone will practice today. Most players are assigned exercises or drills for their current position, but Osamu isnât so lucky. With Tsumu gone, Kita decides to use his absence as an excuse to work on Osamuâs setting. Osamu isnât thrilled about the idea, but at least Kita, Michinari, and Suna will be working with him today, so practice shouldnât be too miserable.
They begin simply, with Osamu setting to just Suna. Suna spikes Osamuâs set, Michinari digs up the spike, and Kita sends the ball over the net for Osamu to practice setting mid-rally. They continue the drill for a while, so Osamu can get in a grove before he tries more difficult sets later on. Osamu doesnât love setting as much as Tsumu does, but he will admit that heâs enjoying the easy rhythm of the drill a lot. Itâs a nice change of pace from his usual blocking and spiking, and Osamu enjoys setting to his best friend much more than he thought he would.
But Osamuâs enjoyment doesnât last. When Kita finally sends them off for a water break, Osamu is feeling off. His muscles ache constantly, and heâs oddly cold despite the snug warmth of the gym. Osamu takes a sip of water from his bottle and sits on the ground in front of the bench. He leans his head against the bench and glances up at the gym ceiling. This proves to be a mistake as the bright ceiling lights cause a headache to flare in his temples. Osamu lowers his head and focuses on finishing his water, hoping futilely that he was just a little dehydrated.
Kita calls Osamu, Michinari, and Suna back to the court for more practice. This time, Aran joins them too. Kita explains the new drill theyâll be working on now. âItâs basically the same as the other drill,â Osamu thinks quietly. The only difference between the drills was that now Osamu can choose between setting to Suna or Aran.
They get to work, and Osamu quickly adjusts to having a new spiker. His sets to Aran arenât as clean or precise as Sunaâs, but Osamu knows his sets are improving with every toss. Osamuâs headache also increases with every toss, but he doesnât want to think about that. Kita will give him hell for practicing with a headache, and Osamu doesnât want to get chewed out like Tsumu did when Kita caught him practicing with a cold. So Osamu stays quiet while they practice. Even as his headache gives way to nausea, and his body trembles with small shivers whenever he stands still for too long.
By the time Kita calls for another water break, Osamu is miserable. His arms ache fiercely from setting, and his legs are so shaky that he barely makes it back off the court. Suna fixes Osamu with a blank stare as soon as Osamu manages to stumble to the bench. Kita and Aran also stare at Osamu, but they remain silent. Osamu shifts awkwardly, eventually opting to lean forward and stare at the ground because that position lessened his headache the most. Osamuâs teammates still say nothing. The minute of silence between the four of them is almost as painful as Osamuâs raging headache, and thatâs saying something because Osamu is pretty sure his brain is trying to escape from his skull with how hard his head is pounding.
Finally, Suna opens his mouth. âYouâre an idiot, Samu.â
âNo âm not,â Osamu mutters weakly.
âYou are,â Suna insists. âYouâre one big, sick idiot, Samu.â
âBut âm not sick,â Osamu whines quietly. He knows he is, but he canât bring himself to admit to being sick because then Kita will lecture him for practicing when heâs sick. Osamu can handle a lot of things, from a moping Tsumu to an Instagram-crazy Suna, but Osamu cannot handle a Kita lecture. Kita isnât the type to yell or swear, but he always sounds so disappointed, and Osamu canât stand disappointing someone he admires so much over such a stupid mistake.
âI hope youâre lying, Samu, because if youâre not, youâre a lot stupider than I thought you were,â Suna frowns slightly. âMaybe even stupider than your dumb twin.â
âTake thaâ back, ya jerk,â Osamu slurs, lifting his head to look at Sunaâs near-expressionless face.
âThen stop acting like an idiot,â Suna counters, his voice still a steady monotone. âYou need to go home. Like, now.â
Osamu sighs tiredly, lowering his head to face the ground again. His body agrees with Suna completely, but somehow, Osamu still doesnât want to leave. Maybe itâs his hypercompetitive instincts from practicing with Tsumu so much, but Osamu doesnât want to leave until practice is finally over. Itâs completely ridiculous, Osamu knows, because he doesnât even love volleyball that much. But Osamu hates leaving things half-finished, even if his body burns with fever, and his head throbs with every breath.
Osamu remains silent, so Suna takes matters into his own hands. Suna slides off the bench and stands in front of Osamu. Suna bends down and takes Osamuâs shaking hands in his own warm, steady ones. Then he gently pulls Osamu to his feet.
Osamuâs body strongly protests the sudden position change. Osamuâs headache intensifies to a new level of excruciating pain, and intense dizziness makes Osamuâs head spin. Osamu desperately tries to keep his balance, but his weakened body doesnât stand a chance against the sudden but fierce wave of lightheadedness. Osamuâs body pitches dangerously as shadows creep into the edges of his vision. He feebly reaches for Suna, trying to steady himself before faints onto the gym floor.
Osamu tilts forward, his chin coming to rest on Sunaâs shoulder before Osamuâs knees give out completely. Suna squawks in surprise as he suddenly finds himself bearing all of Osamuâs weight. Suna carefully guides them both to the floor as Kita and Aran dart off the bench to offer aid.
Osamu is still conscious (somehow), so he is distantly aware of everything his friends do to help him. Kita and Aran grab Osamuâs shoulders and pull him off Suna. They settle Osamu on his back lying prone on the gym floor. Suna takes Osamuâs ankles and holds them up at chest level to get some blood flowing back towards Osamuâs head. Michinari zooms off, returning seconds later with his and Aranâs duffle bags. Michinari stacks them to an acceptable height, and Suna rests Osamuâs feet on the bags.
Kita pillows Osamuâs head in his lap. âOsamu,â Kita calls softly, âare ya still with us?â
âHmâŠ? YeahâŠâ Osamu mumbles as his hazy eyes lock on Suna, whoâs still kneeling by Osamuâs feet. ââm with yaâŠâ
âThaâs good,â Kita smiles gently. He rests a soft hand lightly on Osamuâs forehead. âYa have a wicked fever there, Osamu. Do ya want some water?â
âYa,â Osamu nods weakly. ââm thirsty.â
âHere, Samu.â Aran offers the sick boy a water bottle, but Osamuâs hands are shaking too hard to hold it without splashing water everywhere, so Kita helps Osamu sit up more while Aran holds the bottle.
Osamu drinks greedily, only stopping to gasp for breath every few gulps. Aran sets the bottle on the floor once Osamu empties it completely. Osamuâs appearance has improved considerably by now. His face is regaining color, his eyes arenât foggy, and his body has stopped trembling like a leaf in the autumn wind. Kita and Aran help him sit all the way up, and when he still looks okay, they beckon Michinari and Suna over to help them get Osamu standing.
Once Osamu is on his feet, Aran and Suna support the sick blocker by his shoulders. Kita goes to explain the situation to their coaches while Michinari does the same for the rest of the team, who had slowly stopped practicing once they noticed what was going on with Osamu.
Suna and Aran slowly walk Osamu to the door. They stop briefly to haphazardly dress Osamu in his coat as well as Sunaâs hat and Aranâs scarf. Ginjima, who has slipped away from the team gather with Michinari, holds the door open for them. Ginjima has the trioâs bags. He passes off Osamuâs bag to Suna along with Sunaâs own bag while giving Aran his bag too.
âGinjima,â Aran says as he and Suna maneuver Osamu out the door, âplease let Kita know weâre leavinâ.â
âSure,â Ginjima agrees, eyeing Osamu worriedly. âAre ya takinâ him home?â
âYeah,â Suna replies. âHeâs going straight to bed when we get there since he wonât rest unless we make him.â
âOkay. Good luck, then.â Ginjima wishes them well with a wave before he closes the gym door.
Suna and Aran make the agonizingly slow trip to the Miya household. It takes them over an hour to get Osamu home. By the time they reach the front door, snow flurries are falling onto their hair and eyelashes. It takes another fifteen minutes to get Osamu upstairs, changed, and settled into bed.
Osamuâs parents arenât home, so itâs up to Aran and Suna to find Osamu medicine, water, and food. Suna tackles the food because Aran admits that heâs never done more than boil water, and Osamu will kill them for destroying his kitchen, even if heâs burning with an extremely high fever (the thermometer Aran finds in the bathroom reads 39.5°C after resting under Osamuâs tongue for a minute). Suna reheats leftover rice he finds in the Miyaâs refrigerator and dumps it in a bowl. Itâs hardly gourmet cuisine, but Osamu will be too loopy to care anyway. Suna also fills a glass with water before carrying both things up to the twinsâ shared bedroom.
Aran is sitting on a chair across from Osamu, who is snuggled up on the bottom bunk. Aran takes the water from Suna and forces Osamu to swallow both the fever reducers heâs found and the entire glass of water. Once Osamuâs finished, Suna presents him with the bowl of reheated rice. Osamu only finished half of it, but Suna didnât expect much more, even with Osamuâs reputation for his voracious appetite.
âI have ta go home now,â Aran admits as he gathers the bowl and glass. âAre ya goinâ to stay with him?â
âYeah, at least until his parents get home,â Suna nods. âWe canât leave him alone when heâs like this.â
âYa,â Aran agrees. âIâll clean this up before I go. I left the medicine on tha bathroom sink, and the thermometerâs right there.â He nods to the thermometer lying next to Osamuâs pillow. âThanks fer stayinâ with him, Suna.â
âSânot a problem,â Suna hums lightly. âYou should get going before your mom comes looking for you.â
Aran laughs, âGood point. Iâll see ya later, Suna.â
Aran leaves, taking the bowl and cup with him, so now itâs just him and Osamu in the bedroom. Suna reaches out to ruffle Osamuâs gray hair. âYouâre still an idiot, Samu.â
âI know,â Osamu cracks his eyes open slightly and smiles, âbut yer not.â
âObviously,â Suna smirks, âbut youâre not as stupid as Tsumu. Not yet, at least.â
âGee, thanks, Suna,â Osamu laughs faintly. âThanks fer stayinâ.â
âYou didnât seriously think Iâd leave with you like this, did you?â Suna raises a slim eyebrow.
âNah,â Osamu smiles, âyer too good of a friend fer that.â
âYouâre getting soft on me, Samu,â Suna smiles back.
âIâm sick, ya jerk,â Osamu huffs. âIâm allowed ta be soft.â
âYou are sick,â Suna concedes, âbut youâre still an idiot, and sick idiots need sleep.â
âWhoâs gettinâ soft again?â Osamu quips, but his eyes still slip shut without protest.
âGoodnight, Samu.â Suna pats Osamuâs head gently as he settles himself onto Aranâs now vacant chair.
âGânight, Suna,â Osamu yawns, finally drifting off into a feverish but natural sleep.
Suna adjusts Osamuâs blankets and pulls out his phone. Knowing Osamu, the night wonât be as peaceful as Suna is hoping for, so he plays stupid mobile games on his phone and waits for what he knows will come in a few hours.

I have a headcanon where Atsumu is more likely to get sick due to over practicing & stubbornly hiding his illnesses (or just having an unlucky immune system). While Osamu is just cursed to have more allergies (like he and Atsumu both have pollen allergies, but he has it worse. And Osamu is allergic to all pets, but Atsumu can handle cats and most animals) and overall bad symptoms. They bicker a lot who has it worse.
Yesss. Very nice. I like the Atsumu having a poor immune system option better, personally, so I'll go with that one.
Osamu has a crazy number of allergies. He's allergic to basically everything that can be airborne. Dust? Yes. Pet hair and dander? Yup. Pollen? Absolutely. It drives Osamu crazy, and Atsumu loves to tease him about his allergies. Osamu has to take lots of allergy medicine, both prescription and over-the-counter. He takes the prescription stuff in the morning and at night and uses the over-the-counter medications as needed in between his prescription doses. The worst part is that Osamu loves animals, but he can't be near them without taking a dose of Benedryl (or else his eyes and throat will swell. It's super uncomfortable, and if the swelling doesn't go down fast enough, Osamu is dragged off to the hospital for more treatment).
Atsumu's immune system is already garbage, but Atsumu overworks himself constantly, so his immune system is basically nonexistent. He gets sick from EVERYTHING. Akagi sneezed beside him once, and Atsumu was out sick with a fever for the next two days. This annoys Atsumu since it cuts into his practice time, but he also knows that it's technically at least partially his fault that he gets sick so often. Osamu is Atsumu's primary caretaker, much to Osamu's displeasure. Atsumu isn't fussy when he's sick. Instead, he's unnaturally quiet and submissive. Osamu hates taking care of him because he can't stand to see his brother so miserable. Atsumu gets terrible fevers no matter what he's sick with, and fevers make him very dizzy. He swoons or passes out at least once every time he's sick. (If his fever is too high or he hits his head from passing out, then Atsumu gets to go to the hospital too. Atsumu and Osamu have been in the hospital together for illness and allergies respectively four times to date. They room together and annoy everyone on their hospital floor. The nurses dread seeing them together and play rock-paper-scissors to determine who's going to be their nurses.)

suna sick/allergy hcs?
Sure. Here ya go.
Suna gets sick more than he probably should because he doesn't take care of himself. His eating habits are very sporadic. He either doesn't eat, or he consumes everything in his fridge in two hours. Osamu tries to help by bringing food for Suna everyday, but Osamu usually ends up eating it before it gets to Suna because Osamu got hungry waiting for lunch.
Kita is the only one who can get Suna on a regular eating schedule. Kita does this by always having extra food on hand at school and reminding Suna to eat constantly. Suna obeys because he's too scared of Kita not too. Suna even eats normally on weekends because while he's not sure how, he knows Kita will know if Suna doesn't listen to Kita.
Suna gets a mix of respiratory and stomach illnesses. He gets respiratory illnesses more in autumn and winter and stomach illnesses more in spring and summer. Suna's fevers are midrange and don't normally come with any side effects. However, extremely high fevers can give Suna awful migraines and nausea if they aren't lowered fast enough.
Suna is allergic to pollen and strawberries. His pollen allergy is pretty minor. He only takes allergy medicine during the spring to alleviate it because he doesn't have trouble in any other seasons. Suna's allergy to strawberries is much more severe. Eating strawberries gives him hives, rashes, and a fever, so he carries an EpiPen in his bag just in case. Suna has never gone into anaphylactic shock because of strawberries, but his doctor warned him that it could happen in the future, so Suna stays far away from strawberry products (even artificially flavored ones).

Iâve got a nice little prompt for you! (Actually two but Iâll put them in two separate asks).
This one is a character who may be out of your comfort zone but how about a sick Kuroo who has been sick for a while with what he thinks is something pretty mild so he takes a few days off but even though heâs not getting better he feels guilty about missing so much practice since heâs captain.
But then things go downhill and he gets a lot worse really fast.
Excited to see the things that come out of this blog!!
-Lu
Here's a surprise fic for you. I'm moving into my college dorm Sunday, so I'm writing as much as I can before then to make up for that and not posting much this week.
I hope I did Kuroo justice in this, so enjoy!
Captain Cat's Conundrum
Sick Kuroo and caretakers Kai and Yaku with a bit of Kenma for good measure
Word count: 2185 words
Tetsurou had a cold. He was curled up under heavy blankets in his bed, coughing, shivering, and aching for the past three days. Tetsurou had already missed the past three days of school and practice because his mother insisted that he rest and recover at home. Tetsurou knew she was right, and he also knew that going to school would spread his germs to other students. Still, he couldnât help but feel guilty over missing so much practice. Yaku and Kai had brought his schoolwork along with updating him on the teamâs progress, but Tetsurou wasnât satisfied. He was the team captain! He should be at practice with his team, not sitting in bed with a little cold.
So Tetsurou had snuck out the next morning, creeping out of the house with his school supplies and volleyball bag before his mother came to check on him. His mother would kill him when he got home, but Tetsurou would deal with that later. Tetsurou jogged to school to avoid being late for morning practice. He stopped at the gym doors to catch his breath, coughing lightly to clear mucus from his throat. Once his throat was cleared, Tetsurou entered the gym with his usual grin.
âHey guys,â Tetsurou called to his teammates.
âKuroo!â Lev and Shibayama shouted happily.
âTook you long enough, Roosterhead,â Yaku teased while walking over to Tetsurou. âAny longer, and I was going to make myself captain instead.â
âLiberoes canât be captains, Yaku,â Kai chided from the bench. âHow are you, Kuroo? Are you feeling better?â
âDefinitely,â Tetsurou grinned, âmy mom was just overreacting. You know how she is.â
âThatâs true,â Kenma said quietly from behind Tetsurou.
âGah!â Tetsurou jumped at his best friendâs sudden appearance. âDonât do that to me, Kenma,â Tetsurou coughed. âIâm an old man. My heart can only take so much shock, you know!â
âYouâre not that old,â Kenma muttered as he pushed past Tetsurou to enter the gym.
Kai looked at Tetsurou with concern. âAre you sure youâre okay? That cough didnât sound good.â
âIâm fine,â Tetsurou reassured his friend. âThe cough will go away on its own. Havenât you ever had a cough after you had a cold for a while?â
âI suppose I have,â Kai said, but his face was still doubtful. âYouâll tell us if you start feeling sick, wonât you?â
âOf course I will. Iâm not that dumb,â Tetsurou scoffed.
âI sure hope youâre not,â Yaku eyed Tetsurou suspiciously. âIf you donât tell us, Iâll kick your ass for lying to us.â
âSo violent, Yakkun!â Tetsurou sighed dramatically. âThis is why youâre the demon senpai. Even the devil himself is scared of you.â
Yaku launched himself at Tetsurou with a shriek of fury. Tetsurou laughed and dodged Yakuâs attack, but the libero didnât give up, opting to chase Tetsurou around the gym instead. Kai awkwardly watched the duo for a few minutes before joining in the chase too to catch the troublesome third years (âWait, guys! We have practice right now. You canât just goof off the entire time! Youâre setting a bad example for the others!â).
Tetsurou made it through morning practice and the first half of the day with no issue, but by lunch, certain problems were beginning to emerge. The first was Tetsurouâs ever-growing headache. It pounded in his temples throughout lunch, distracting him from his friends and food. The second was his cough. It was stronger than that morning, and Tetsurou was struggling to hide his coughing fits from the watchful eyes of Kai and Yaku. The final problem was the terribly uncomfortable combination of chills and aches wracking his body. Tetsurouâs muscles ached as his body shivered despite the fairly warm air around him.
Tetsurou stumbled through his afternoon classes, feigning attention to hide how sick he was feeling. Thankfully, Yaku and Kai werenât in his afternoon classes to witness Tetsurouâs pitiful acting because Tetsurou was sure they would have dragged him home on the spot. But Tetsurou canât let that happen. He has practice after school, and he was determined to make up for all that heâd missed in the past few days.
When classes finally end, Tetsurou walked leisurely to the gym for practice. He somehow was the first to arrive, so he began an easy warm-up. By the time he was finished, everyone else was in the gym warming up too. Tetsurou also felt slightly better, the ache in his muscles dulled by the adrenaline now in his system. The cough and headache still proved to be a problem, but Tetsurou had become much better at ignoring the headache and swallowing back coughs before they could escape. Even so, Yaku and Kai stared at him for a minute, both his friends suspicious of Tetsurouâs health. They only stopped when Coach Naoi fussed at them to warm up instead of standing around.
The rest of practice followed a similar pattern. No matter what Tetsurou was doing, Kai and Yaku were never far away, always watching for any cracks in their captainâs façade of good health. By the end of practice, Kai and Yaku were starting to think that they might have overreacted at morning practice. Tetsurou looked mostly fine all practice. Maybe his cheeks were a little flushed or his breathing a bit heavy, but that could easily be attributed to the amount of exercise he was doing.
Coach Nekomata was unusually spartan with his training throughout practice. So far, the team had done sprints, flying falls, receiving drills, and blocking drills all in the span of an hour and a half, so most of the team looked just as disheveled as Tetsurou by the end of practice. Coach Nekomata dismissed them a few minutes ago, but the third years and Kenma remained in the gym with the coaches. The third years were supposed to help clean up, and Kenma stayed because he always walked home with Tetsurou.
With everyone else gone, the coaches went to Nekomataâs office to get their things while the third years cleaned. Kai and Yaku got to work immediately, but Tetsurou lagged behind his friends. The adrenaline in his system was fading, and the aches and chills returned with a vengeance as Tetsurouâs head continued to throb. His lungs twinged uncomfortably, a cough building in his throat. Tetsurou tried to stifle it, but his body was done obeying him. Instead, a loud hacking cough escaped Tetsurouâs throat and echoed through the mostly empty gym.
Kai and Yaku whipped around to face their captain, shocked by the nasty cough, but Tetsurou wasnât done. His abused lungs were tired of holding back, and his body spasmed with pain. Another cough tore out of Tetsurouâs throat, and then another. Coughs wracked Tetsurouâs shivering frame, and the boy fell to his knees as the coughing fit deprived his lungs of much-needed oxygen. Tetsurouâs head spun, his eyes foggy and unable to focus on anything.
Coughs continued to come. Tetsurouâs body was screaming for oxygen, but his lungs couldnât calm down enough to let any air through. Tetsurou wheezed miserably, body shaking with strain and exhaustion. What the hell was happening? Tetsurou was fine that morning (well, maybe not that fine, but not this bad either), so how did he deteriorate so quickly? Tetsurouâs racing thoughts did nothing to ease the headache, and Tetsurou was sure that if he didnât stop coughing soon, he might end up passed out on the gym floor.
Someone rubbed his back. Tetsurou lifted his heavy head to see Yaku carefully but firmly rubbing his back. The pressure helped Tetsurou focus and relax, causing his breathing speed to decrease and his coughs to lessen. Another hand came to rest on Tetsurouâs forehead (Kaiâs, Tetsurou assumed), most likely taking his temperature. Tetsurou also saw Kenma walking toward him, holding Tetsurouâs water bottle. Kenma offered him the bottle, and Tetsurou took a small sip, hands still shaky and unsure. After a few sips, Yaku and Kai manhandled Tetsurou until he was sitting on his backside instead of his knees. Yaku and Kai looked at him sternly, and Tetsurou knew he was in very big trouble.
Surprisingly, Kai was the first one to speak. âKuroo, why didnât you tell us you werenât feeling well?â
âI was feeling b-better during practice, so I d-didnât think it was t-that bad,â Tetsurou muttered, his words broken up by coughs.
Yaku raised a skeptical eyebrow. âReally, Roosterhead? Thatâs the best excuse you can come up with?â
â...YesâŠ?â Tetsurou said, though it sounded more like a question than an answer, even to his own ears.
â...You can tell us, Kuroo. Weâre still your friends, even when youâre acting stupid.â Kenma leveled Tetsurou with a flat but stern gaze, and Tetsurou knew he had no choice but to explain.
âI feel bad, okay?!â Tetsurou snapped. âIâve already missed three days of practice for a stupid cold, and I canât miss any more practice, or Iâll get behind!â
âYou can be such an idiot sometimes, Kuroo,â Yaku sighed, eyes oddly soft. âYouâre allowed to miss practice when youâre sick. We know you wouldnât skip practice, and no one wants your nasty germs in the gym anyway.â
âYes, Kuroo,â Kai chimed in gently. âOur coaches arenât so terrible that theyâd make you practice while sick.â
âI know that,â Tetsurou sighed, âbut itâs different for me. Iâve already missed too much, and I canât stand missing any more practice!â
Kenma tilted his head lazily. âWhyâs it different for you, Kuroo?â Kenma asked calmly.
âBecause Iâm the captain!â Tetsurou exclaimed, coughing as air caught in his lungs. âI canât afford to slack off. I have to set a good example. I have toâŠâ Tetsurou was crying at that point, exhaustion amplifying his emotions to an extreme level.
âKurooâŠâ Kai whispered as he wrapped a sobbing Tetsurou in a delicate hug. âYou are setting a good example. Youâre a wonderful captain, and everyone on the team knows it.â
Yaku snuck into the hug too, squeezing Tetsurou with his warm, comforting arms. âKaiâs right, Kuroo. Youâre a good captain. You know Iâd kick your ass if you werenât right?â
âYes,â Tetsurou mumbled through more tears.
âAnd since I havenât kicked your ass, do you know what that means?â Yaku pressed as Tetsurouâs sobs become quiet.
âThat Iâm a good captain?â Tetsurou asked, voice rough from tears and coughs.
âExactly,â Yaku smiled warmly. âYouâre a very good captain, Kuroo, but do you know what else you are?â
â...An idiot?â Tetsurou guessed, reaching up to wipe away any remaining tears.
Yaku chuckled softly. âGot it in one. Now letâs get you home. I donât think you have a cold anymore. Kai?â
âIt seems more like the flu to me. That fever is far too high to be just a cold,â Kai agreed, helping Yaku pull Testurou off the gym floor. âWhat do you think, Kenma?â
âFlu, probably. His symptoms match pretty well,â Kenma answered, stepping back to give Kai and Yaku room to work. âHe could have had a cold earlier and picked up a flu virus on top of that.â
âMan, Kuroo, your luck sucks!â Yaku snickered as he supported Tetsurou. âYouâre lucky you didnât pass out. Coach Naoi would have freaked out if he had to call an ambulance for you.â
âYouâre so mean, Yaku,â Tetsurou whined with as much energy as he could muster. âNo wonder Lev is so scared of you, you snarky little devil!â
âIâm not little!â Yaku huffed but continued to support Tetsurou to the door.
âYou two are too much sometimes,â Kai sighed at their antics. âKenma, can you show us where Kuroo lives?â
âYeah. Follow me,â Kenma agreed easily. âHey Kuroo, you know Iâm gonna tell your mom everything, right?â
Tetsurouâs eyes widened in horror. âKenma, you canât! Sheâll never let me live this down! Please donât tell her. Iâm begging you!â
Kenma giggled at Tetsurouâs uncharacteristic behavior. âBut if I donât tell her, then sheâll fuss at me. I donât like to be fussed at, Kuroo.â
âIâll do whatever you want,â Tetsurou begged. âJust donât tell my mom!â
Kenmaâs face twisted into a mirthful smirk. âOkay. Weâll have a Super Smash Bros. tournament as soon as you get better.â
Tetsurouâs face fell instantly. âSmash Bros? But I suck at that game!â
âI know,â Kenma nodded sagely. âKai, Yaku, you guys can come too if you want.â
âSounds good, Kenma. Let us know when you pick a date and time,â Kai smiled at the setter. Yaku snickered and nodded in agreement.
Tetsurou groaned inwardly. These people were really his friends, huh? But they were taking him home after he got sick, Tetsurou reasoned. They were also helping him walk, and Tetsurou had no doubt that they wouldnât leave his house until they had him feed, in bed, and drugged up on flu medicine. They were kind and caring when they wanted to be, and Tetsurou appreciated all they were doing for him right now. Maybe his friends werenât so bad after all.
(No, scratch that. They were making fun of him for maining Kirby in Smash now. They were definitely assholes.)

HC: I can see Osamu eating something and goes âwhat does that mean if my cheeks and tongue feel numb?â And someone probably like Suna or Aran, âI think youâre having allergic reactionâ And he just goes âohâ and continues to eat while everyone is freaking out. Like Atsumu is hitting him and yelling âspit it out dumbassâ. Osamu likes all food despite allergies lol.
Hahaha! Yeah, Osamu's kind of dumb like that, isn't he? I think this would happen in the twins' first year of high school. Atsumu freaks out when Osamu has a reaction, but Suna and Aran try to stay calm. Aran is the one to call emergency services and make Osamu lay down so he doesn't pass out. Suna tries to get Osamu to stop eating the food, but Osamu is so stubborn that Suna has to physically pry the food from Osamu's hands to get him to stop eating.
Once they get to the hospital, they treat Osamu, and he recovers well. Then it's on to allergy testing, which Osamu hates with a burning passion. They do both blood tests and skin prick tests, which hurt and make him uncomfortable. Once the doctors realize that Atsumu is Osamu's identical twin, they make him get allergy testing too. Osamu's glad he's not the only one dealing with the annoyances of getting tested, and he teases Atsumu throughout the testing process. It turns out that the twins have nearly identical allergies, but Osamu found them first because he's the more adventurous eater of the twins.
Inarizaki gets a lecture and training on what to do if the twins have an allergic reaction. Kita and Aran are very calm under pressure, so it's decided that they'll be the first ones to help the twins. They each get EpiPens, and an EpiPen is also stored in the club first aid kit too. Suna and the twins also carry EpiPens too if anything happens, and the twins also get medical alert bracelets from their parents to help them avoid having reactions.
Even with all these precautions, Osamu still tries to eat foods he knows he's allergic to because they "just taste so good, okay?" He even convinces a sleep-deprived Atsumu to try a food they're allergic to once. They both have to spend the night at the hospital, but Atsumu does agree that the food was tasty, so Osamu considers it a relatively good night. Atsumu thinks he's crazy, and in all honesty, he's probably right.

could i get NoyaYaku (Yaku and Nishinoya) where one of them is v sick and the other has to take them home and take care of them? Thank you!
This isn't exactly a "sick"fic, but I think it still counts. I hope you enjoy it! Despite the title, there is a distinctive lack of Lev in this (lol).
Lev v. Liberos
Word count: 813 words
Yaku Morisuke is an idiot. That is one fact Yuu is certain of at the moment as he places a cold compress on the other liberoâs forehead. Yaku is half-conscious at best, delirious with pain and exhaustion. Yaku groans when the compress makes contact with his bruised forehead and shut eyes. Yuu sighs and rubs Yakuâs nape soothingly. Yaku hums in appreciation, and Yuu gives him a weary smile.
âI canât believe you,â Yuu huffs lightly. âPlaying volleyball with a migraine and getting smacked in the face by Levâs spike? Just how reckless are you?â
âSânot my fault,â Yaku slurs tiredly. âLevâs ân idiot, anâ Iâm just unlucky, I guess.â
âDid Lev make you play today?â Yuu grins cheekily.
âNoâŠâ Yaku moans, âbut itâs the third day of traininâ camp. What else was I sâposed to do?â
âGo home? Sit out? Tell your coaches you werenât feeling well? I can keep going if you want,â Yuu smirks.
âYouâre so mean, YuuâŠâ Yaku groans, wincing as the compress slips and allows light to reach his eyes. âYou wouldâve done the same thing, so it sânot like you can talk.â
âBut I can talk, Morisuke, because Iâm not the one with a migraine and moderate concussion, am I?â Yuu lectures as he readjusts the compress over Yakuâs eyes and forehead.
âDonâ remind me,â Yaku moans miserably. âI feel awful.â
âI know, Morisuke,â Yuu soothes softly. âThe ambulance will be here soon, and then you can get all the pain meds you need at the hospital.â
âSounds nice,â Yaku says, shivering at a sudden bout of chills.
Yuu unzips his tracksuit jacket and drapes it over the older libero wordlessly. Yaku snuggles into the new source of warmth, silently wishing to be wearing his own tracksuit right now. He is still in his practice clothes and hasnât gotten the chance to change since getting hit by Levâs spike.
(The spike hit Yaku hard, and he was pulled off the court by Kai and Kuroo after failing to get up after a few seconds. The other third years interrogated Yaku until they were confident that they knew everything about Yakuâs current health situation as Coach Nekomata called an ambulance. Then came the difficult part. Someone had to stay with Yaku and go with him into the ambulance. Ordinarily, this role would have fallen to a Nekoma coach, but Yaku adamantly refused this option. He wanted the practice match to continue without him, and that couldnât happen if a coach was missing.
Instead, Yuu volunteered without a second thought. He liked the older libero and enjoyed his company, but his primary interest was leveling the playing field for both teams. If Yuu waited with Morisuke, neither team would have their regular libero playing, so no one would have an advantage. Additionally, it would serve as good practice for both teamsâ reserve liberos. And that was how Yaku and Yuu came to be sitting outside the gym doors, sheltering from the sun under the walkway cover. Yaku was resting on a bed of Kai and Kurooâs tracksuit jackets with Yuu keeping dutiful watch beside him until the ambulance arrived.)
Yaku rolls onto his side, face a pale shade of green. âYuuâŠâ A breathy moan escapes Yakuâs mouth. âIâm gonnaâŠâ
Yuu grabs Yakuâs shoulders roughly, forcing the boy into an upright position before leaning him away from the jacket pile. The compress slips off Yakuâs forehead in the commotion, but Yuu is too focused on Yakuâs present dilemma to care. As soon as Yuu finishes positioning Yaku, the Nekoma libero lets out a fierce wretch, vomit spilling from his lips onto the walkway. Yaku sobs as he vomits harshly onto the ground.
âShhh,â Yuu whispers, rubbing Yakuâs back. âJust let it out, Morisuke. Itâll be over soon.â
Yaku cries each time he throws up, and by the time his wretches subside, Yakuâs face is blotchy and red with tears. Yuu settles the older boy back onto the jacket pile, lying him down and covering his face with the cold compress again. Yakuâs sniffles die down into uneasy silence. Yuu ruffles Yakuâs hair softly, mindful of the boyâs excruciating headache.
âThanks, YuuâŠâ Yaku sighs, drained both mentally and physically.
âAny time, Morisuke,â Yuu smiles brightly. âGet some rest, but try not to sleep. Youâre not supposed to do that with a concussion, you know.â
âI know,â Yaku has just enough energy to huff lightly before nestling back into the jackets beneath him. âYouâre coming to the hospital with me, right?â
âYeah, so donât worry. Iâll be with you the entire time,â Yuu ruffles Yakuâs hair again.
âIâm glad,â Yaku smiles.
Yaku relaxes into the jackets, and his breathing evens out. Yuu knows heâs not sleeping, but heâs just glad Yakuâs resting for once. Then Yuu hears the wail of an ambulance in the distance, and he knows everything will be alright.

Uhm.. what do you think of Semi with a weak heart?
You see, i have a weaker heart than the rest in a way that I can't deal with anything too scary or too much adrenaline or else I get too much palpitations.
I lowkey hc that the reason why they removed him as a starter once Shirabu joined the team is bc they didn't want anything to happen to him too much, but didn't want to obstruct his wish to play.
Love this. I like this HC because it gives Coach Washijou a real reason to pull Semi from the starting line-up in his final year without seeming like a complete jerk. Semi having a weak heart also leads to him putting lots of effort into taking care of his teammates since he feels useless on the court. Shirabu's blatant disrespect of Semi's advice only makes Semi feel worse, and he ends up crying in his room for the first few days of his third year. Crying and getting upset gives Semi heart palpitations, which freak him out, so his roommate Hayato drags him to the nurse's office to get help. Semi tells Hayato everything, and Hayato relays the information to Tendou and Ushijima. Tendou comforts Semi while Ushijima lectures Shirabu, and things eventually improve. Semi settles into his role as a pinch server, and he and Shirabu become good friends even if they don't always get along perfectly.

Can you post more of your Semi HCs? I love the stuff youâve written for him so far.
Totally. Hey ya go!
Semi is a quiet sickie. He's in denial when he first starts showing symptoms, and he still won't say anything even after he's come to terms with being sick. He hates burdening others, especially his team and family.
This attitude has come back to bite him so many times, though. Semi is infamous for passing out at family gatherings from hiding his illnesses, and it's now an inside joke amongst his family because it's happened so many times. Semi doesn't think it's funny and gets mad whenever his family brings it up because he's not that bad, right? (He is.)
Semi has also been taken to the emergency room straight from volleyball practice a few times. The first time was in elementary school. He had the flu and didn't tell anyone, so he ended up passed out on the gym floor halfway through practice.
The most recent incident for Semi was at the end of his second year of high school. He'd had a cold all week, but since he refused to rest and relax, the cold developed into viral pneumonia. He's had trouble breathing throughout practice but doesn't tell anyone (as per usual). Then Washijou made them do flying falls around the court. Semi goes to do his first one and just... doesn't get back up. No one notices at first until Shirabu quietly asks why his upperclassman is still on his first flying fall. Everyone stops to look at poor Semi, and then it's pure chaos.
Tendou is actually responsible for once and calls an ambulance while the coaches try to assess Semi's condition. They don't know much beyond an extremely high fever and breathing difficulties, but those symptoms and passing out alone warrant a hospital visit, so Semi is sent off in the ambulance as soon as it arrives. The team comes to visit him the next day, and it turns out that Semi's fever had spiked to 104.9 °F (40.5 °C) last night, so he's super out of it on pain killers and fever reducers. Tendou records video of drugged-up Semi to be used as blackmail at a later point (and to serve as proof that Semi is NOT to be responsible for his own health anytime soon).
Semi spends a week in the hospital before he recovers enough to be discharged. Even after that, Semi's still very weak. His lungs are a wreck from pneumonia, so he's not allowed to participate in practice until his lungs recover enough for him to play. Shirabu covers for Semi while he's recovering (setting the stage for Shirabu to take Semi's position in the coming year...).

I feel like Hinata, yams, Asahi, Lev, Shibayama, Goshiki, and Noya are sympathy pukers as well. The thing where if someone pukes, they tend to as well. Leads to some very un-fun scenarios
Yup. I have a post about this somewhere if you can find it, and I think at least half of these characters made it into that post.
The absolute worst scenario is when a lot of these characters are together (for a training camp, game, etc.), and someone gets sick. Then it's just a domino effect with everyone getting sick one after the other.
I think the most likely scenario for this is a training camp between Karasuno and Nekoma. Everything is fine until someone (Kageyama or Yaku, probably) who's been hiding their illness suddenly gets sick in the middle of the court. Everyone in the gym can see and hear what's happening, and it sets off at least one (maybe more) sympathy pukers. I think Hinata and Lev would get sick first, followed by Shibayama, Yamaguchi, and Asahi. Nishinoya isn't as prone to sympathy puking as the others, but seeing so many people vomiting sets him off hard, and now he's vomiting too.
Everything is chaos. The coaches are yelling. The captains and vice-captains are fussing over the pukers and rounding up the rest of their teams. Eventually, the original sick person stops puking, and things start to calm down a little. The pukers are sent to the infirmary to clean up and rest while the coaches call the poor janitors to deal with the mess. The gym is a mess and smells horrible for days afterward.
Goshiki runs into some puking trouble because of Tendou. Despite not eating much, Tendou loves hosting cake/chocolate eating contests. He forces everyone to at least spectate if they're not participating. So that's how Goshiki ends up watching Taichi and Hayato vomit after eating a whole chocolate cake each. Goshiki takes one look at the brown vomit in front of his friends, and then he's bent over vomiting onto the floor too. Everyone panics because they think he's actually sick (like with a fever and stuff), but Semi and Tendou soon figure out what the real problem is. They drag Goshiki away from Taichi and Hayato, getting puked on in the process, and Goshiki rapidly improves. Poor Goshiki apologies to his upperclassmen for weeks afterward for getting puke on them. Semi and Tendou laugh it off and confide that it's not the first time a teammate has vomited on them. Ushijima has a stomach virus in their first year, and he vomited all over Semi and Tendou when they tried to take him to the nurse's office. Goshiki feels a lot better after learning that even his seemingly perfect upperclassman can get sick on people too.

hi it's koganegawa anon. one of my friends when i was a kid had hemophilia (+ i just googled the hell out of it to make sure i had my facts right) and i like the idea for kogane :) if he's got a port i can see him trying to hide it at practices and training camps, if he gets invited to a training camp that's longer than like a week he has to choose between either a. not going or b. bringing all his factor infusion supplies with him and doing his infusions after everyoneâs gone to bed so no one sees, he gives me this vibe that heâd be like âi need to Prove iâm worthy of being a starting player, if i show any kind of weakness ever theyâll kick me offâ so he doesnât tell anyone about it (jokes on him, futakuchi knows because heâs captain and has access to the whole teamâs medical records)
he gets a nosebleed at practice one day so he sits out for a while, but it doesnât stop bleeding and his teammates get concerned and it becomes a problem once heâs gone through half a box of tissues and heâs starting to get dizzy, eventually futakuchi shoves his way through and drags koganeâs ass to the infirmary
oh what if he's got a teammate who faints when they see blood? forbidden love? (/j my kogagoshi heart could never)
sorry this is so long, i took the idea and ran with it hgfgf
Hahaha. I love this, and thanks for doing so much research. It makes it easier on my end if I have a general idea of what the condition is and how to treat it before I put it in a fic. I really like all of this, so I'll go update my SHC list right now. (Also, Goshiki in the SHC universe now faints at the sight of blood because I love your idea (and him))

do you have any konoha sick hcs?
Yes, of course I have headcanons for the best brown owl boi. Enjoy!
Konoha gets sick pretty often, but most of the time, it's only a cold or minor illness. But when his illness is bad, it's very bad. Konoha has been hospitalized multiple times because a seemingly mundane illness (flu, stomach virus, etc.) escalated dramatically.
Konoha runs relatively high fevers, and the fevers are often accompanied by vertigo and headaches. Konoha gets a mix of stomach and respiratory ailments, but the ones that tend to get bad for him are the respiratory ailments. Those are the illnesses that lead to bad stuff like pneumonia and septic shock.
Fukurodani knows about some of Konoha's medical history, so they try to help him out when they can. Bokuto and the coach try to send Konoha home whenever they notice he's sick, but Konoha has started hiding his illnesses in retaliation because he hates missing practice. This leads to things like Konoha passing out or getting hurt from fever and exhaustion.
Akaashi and the managers are the ones to help Konoha when this happens. They keep Konoha calm and comfortable with cold compresses and makeshift blankets until help arrives (the coach is the one to determine if that's Konoha's parents or an ambulance).
The worst illness Fukurodani has seen Konoha have was bacterial pneumonia in the middle of his first year. The pneumonia developed from a lingering cough Konoha had after contracting the flu earlier that month. (Konoha fainted during a practice match with Nekoma, so Kuroo, Kai, and Yaku saw what happened too.) The coach and the managers rush over to Konoha and check him over. Konoha has a terrible fever, but the most worrying thing about his condition is that Konoha's barely breathing. The coach immediately calls an ambulance, and Konoha is taken to the hospital as soon as the paramedics arrive.
The team isn't allowed to see Konoha until three days after he was admitted because that's how long it took to get the pneumonia under control. Konoha remains hospitalized for another week because the doctors are worried about lasting damage to his lungs. The damage is relatively minor, but Konoha still has trouble shaking coughs and respiratory infections throughout high school.

what haikyuu character would be most likely to least likely to catch a cold easily ?
I'm gonna break this up into sections to make it more manageable, so first up...
Least Likely to Catch a Cold:
Take very good care of themselves: so Kita, Omimi, Ushijima, Reon, Iwaizumi, Hanamaki, Aone, Tsukishima, Kyoko, Kai, Sakusa, and Komori.
Just have stupidly good immune systems: Tanaka, Nishinoya, Yamamoto, Lev, Tendou (no one is sure how, but he never gets sick, ever), Yamagata, Matsukawa, Koganegawa, Kyotani, Watari, Hoshiumi, Aran, and Suna.
Most Likely to Catch a Cold:
Gets a cold due to stress: Daichi, Asahi, Ennoshita, Yamaguchi, Yahaba, Kindaichi, Kawanishi, Soekawa, Akagi, Riseki, Futakuchi, Sakunami, and Moniwa.
Gets a cold due to poor immune system: Kinoshita, Kenma, Kunimi, Goshiki, and Shibayama.
Gets a cold because they don't take care of themselves: Ukai, Hinata, Kageyama (he neglects his health to play volleyball almost constantly, so he's a frequent source of stress for Daichi), Osamu and Atsumu, Inuoka, Kuroo, and Oikawa.
Gets a cold from taking care of others: Suga, Semi, Yaku, Kita, Atsumu and Osamu (they get sick taking care of each other), and Akiteru.
In the Middle:
Takeda, Fukunaga, Shirabu, Ginjima, Yachi, and Narita.
Let me know if you agree, or if I missed anyone.
