Darka met Luigi first at the casino (cards mini games in New Super Mario Bros), pretending to be a simple rich woman with her cousins.

Mani wanted to creat Shroobio by using one of Luigi's hair, but it actually belonged to Mario.

If the Shroobs royal family was in a Mario movie, I imagine the first seen we see them in be either the casino scene or when they're meeting Bowser.

Bowser: *raging about Mario and Peach alone or with some minions*

Darka: I didn't took you for the jealous type.

Bowser: *sigh* Hello to you too, Princess Darka.

Shroobs are more in a grey area in a politic pov

The first time Shroobio saw Darka, she was playing with G00d b0y/Shrooshroo, so he doesn't sees her as a cold or expressionless person.

Shroobio is more grounded than Mario, litterally and metaphorically.
